REFERENCE# [XXX]. AS I APPROACHED THE INTERSECTION, ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS TURNING ONTO THE STREET I WAS ON. I MOVED OVER TO MAKE ROOM, AS I MOVED OVER I HAD TO CROSS OVER A CLUMP OF SNOW AND ICE THAT HAD RE FROZE MAKING A ROUGH AND BUMPY TRANSITION. I WAS ABOUT 20 FEET FROM THE STOP SIGN. I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE WHICH WAS HARD AND UNRESPONSIVE. THE STEERING WAS HARD AND UNRESPONSIVE AS WELL. I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 3-5 MPH AT THE TIME. WHEN I PLACED MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE IT WAS UNRESPONSIVE AND IT TOOK ME INTO THE INTERSECTION WHERE I WAS HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE FRONT. MY AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE TOTAL DAMAGE FOR MY VEHICLE WAS $ 5,615.93. WE WERE CONFUSED AND DID NOT UNDERSTAND WHY THE BRAKES AND THE STEERING DID NOT FUNCTION AND WHY WITH THIS VIOLENT OF A CRASH THAT THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. AFTER READING THE RECALL NOTICE EXPLAINING THE IGNITION RECALL IT MADE SENSE THAT WHY THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS ON THESE CARS DON'T OPERATE CORRECTLY. CURRENTLY THE REAR DOOR LOCKS DON'T OPEN OR CLOSE WITH THE AUTOMATIC LOCKS. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SIMILAR MODELS OF CHEVY IMPALA'S. SO FAR I HAVE HAD 3 OF THE 4 DOOR LOCKS REPAIRED BY CHEVY, BUT THE REAR ONES WENT BAD AGAIN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT RANDOMLY ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
HEARD A 'WHINING' NOISE FROM UNDER HOOD, THAT CHANGED PITCH WITH ENGINE SPEED. DEALER REPORTED THAT THE STEERING RACK WAS LEAKING, & HAD TO BE REPLACED & TIRES REALIGNED, AT A COST OF $1070. OWNER WAS CONCERNED THAT POWER STEERING LOSS COULD BE A POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER STATES THAT THE VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE PROBLEMS AND WAS INCLUDED IN A RECALL. HE STATES THAT THE 3 OF THE 4 DOOR ACTUATORS WERE BROKEN. *KB THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT HAD A PROBLEM WITH A FLASHING RED LIGHT IF A PENCIL OR PIECE PAPER WAS PLACED IN THE SEAT. *JB
LET ME TRY AGAIN....I WAS DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, AT 55 MPH, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON, ALONG WITH THE REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING . I TOOK IT INTO THE DEALER, WHERE I BOUGHT IT IN AUG. 2009. I CAN'T REMEMBER WHEN THIS PROBLEM STARTED & HOW MANY TIMES PRIOR, BECAUSE THE WARNING LIGHTS WOULD GO OUT, WITHOUT ANY REDUCED ENGINE POWER WARNING OR REDUCED POWER. I THOUGHT IT WAS ONE OF WHAT IS CALLED A COMPUTER GLITCHES. IT WAS AT THIS TIME WHEN I DID GET REDUCED ENGINE POWER, WHEN I KNEW I HAD TO TAKE IT INTO THE DEALER. ON NOV.29,2010, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED......ON JAN.05, 2011, I BROUGHT IT BACK AND WAS CHARGED ONLY HALF OF THE RATE FOR MECH. DIAGNOSIS FEE, BECAUSE I ARGUED SO MUCH, THAT THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, AND THEY HAVE NOT REPAIRED THE SAME INITIAL PROBLEM. I LEFT THE CAR WITH THEM TO DRIVE, THEY DROVE IT 28 MILES WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. ON JAN.06,2011, MILEAGE WAS 38727, THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, N/C. I THINK IT WAS AT THIS TIME, I WAS TOLD TO RETURN THE CAR, WITHOUT SHUTTING THE ENGINE OFF, WHICH IS WHAT I DID. ON FEB.05,2011, MILEAGE WAS 39831, WHERE THEY REPLACED A A.I.R. VENT VALVE....I HAVE CHANGED LIVING LOCATIONS LAST SPRING....MEANING THERE MIGHT BE MORE TIMES THAT IT WAS BROUGHT IN.....MY MEMORY IS TELLING ME THAT THE BOTH WARNING LIGHTS WERE COMING ON AND OFF LAST YEAR, AND NOW MORE FREQUENT, WITH SLIGHT REDUCED ENGINE POWER ...81000 MILES *TR
BRAKE ROTOR WARP ON 2009 IMPALA LT WITH 30K MILES. CAR VIOLENTLY SHAKES BETWEEN 25MPH - 35 MPH. HAPPENS WHEN SLOWING DOWN FROM SPEEDS 65MPH AND ABOVE. AT THE DEALER NOW BUT THEY ARE TRYING TO SAY THE CAUSE IS DRIVER HABIT RELATED. *TR
DRIVING DOWN A STEEP HILL HEADING FROM THE CALIFORNIA COAST BACK TO ARIZONA, UPON BRAKING CAR STARTED SHUTTERING AND SHAKING BADLY ALMOST CAUSING ME TO LOSE CONTROL. LATER FOUND OUT AFTER SEARCHING THIS SITE AND MANY OTHERS THAT THERE APPEARS TO BE A WARPED ROTAR PROBLEM. AFTER ALL THE COMPLAINTS ON THIS ONE ITEM THAT I HAVE SEEN ONLINE, WHY IS THIS COMPANY NOT BEING PUT TO THE FIRE TO FIX THIS. MY CAR IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY SO I AM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET CLOSE TO 1K FOR A FIX THAT MIGHT LAST 20,000 MILES? I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE LOST CONTROL OR WORSE THEIR LIVES BECAUSE OF THEIR NEW CHEVY AND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THIS. OH, BY THE WAY YOUR WELCOME FOR THE MONEY. AT LEAST TOYOTA IS FIXING THEIR PROBLEMS!!!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD SLIGHTLY UNTIL THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PEDAL POSITIONING SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,867.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING DOWN A HILL, HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY VIBRATE. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE ROTORS ON MORE THEN ONE OCCASION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT DID NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK FOR REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,504 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,500.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT FAILED TO RETAIN THE DRIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V480000 (SEAT BELTS:FRONT:ANCHORAGE) AFTER THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE CONTACT SUFFERED INJURIES TO THE HEAD DURING THE CRASH. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000.
I AM HEARING NOISES COMING FROM MY STEERING GEAR AS I MAKE TURNS. THE DEALER TOLD ME MY RACK AND PINION SYSTEM IS GOING OUT. THIS FAILURE CAN LEAD TO THE LOSS OF THE ABILITY TO STEER OR THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP. RESEARCH INDICATES THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM WITH CHEVROLET MODELS SINCE 2000. NO CORRECTIVE ACTION HAS TAKEN PLACE YET. I AM SURE THERE ARE INJURIES AND DEATHS RELATED TO THIS ISSUE. *TR
ALL CHEVROLET IMPALAS DATING BACK TO 2002-2009 HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THEIR TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEMS. THE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED AND THE VEHICLE SLOWS IMMEDIATELY. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN IGNORED BY CHEVROLET SINCE 2002. FORTUNATELY, NO ONE HAS BEEN KILLED. CHEVROLET DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THE PROBLEM, OR SIMPLY CHOOSES TO IGNORE IT. HOWEVER BY SIMPLY READING COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET, IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS IS A WIDE-SPREAD PROBLEM AND A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS ONE. PUBLIC SAFETY SHOULD REQUIRE THE GOVERNMENT TO DISCIPLINE CHEVROLET FOR INTENTIONALLY REFUSING TO ADDRESS A POTENTIALLY LETHAL FLAW IN IT'S CHEVROLET IMPALA LINE. *TR
DRIVING A RENTED CHEVY IMPALA WITH 7,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER IN RENO, NV, I WAS ON A MODERATE DOWNWARD SLOPE AT 65 MILES AN HOUR WHEN I USED THE BRAKES TO SLOW THE CAR. THERE WAS AN IMMEDIATE SHAKING IN THE FRONT END AND STEERING WHEEL, ENOUGH TO BELIEVE THAT I HAD A FLAT IN A FRONT TIRE, OR HAD SOME OTHER SUBSTANTIAL MECHANICAL PROBLEM. RELEASING THE BRAKES, THE SHAKING STOPPED. THIS SHAKING OCCURRED SEVERAL MORE TIMES ON THE HILL AS I SLOWED THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY RETURNED THE CAR TO THE RENTAL COMPANY AND REPORTED THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT THIS COMMONLY OCCURS WITH IMPALAS AND WAS DUE TO THE POOR BRAKES INSTALLED ON THE CAR. THE SHAKING WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO, IN MY OPINION, CAUSE DRIVERS TO LOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR IN A SITUATION WHERE THEY WERE REQUIRED TO BRAKE AND MANEUVER SIMULTANEOUSLY. A STUD BROKE OFF THE RT REAR WHEEL AND THE LARRY GREEN SERVICE DEPT.IN COTTONWOOD, ARIZONA REFUSED TO REPAIR IT UNDER THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY. THEY CLAIMED IT WAS SHEARED OFF BY WHOMEVER ROTATED THE TIRES LAST. MY CLAIM WAS THAT THE TIRES WERE NEVER ROTATED AND THE STUD BROKE. I ALSO CLAIM THAT IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE BECAUSE NO MATTER WHEN AND IF THE TIRES WERE ROTATED AT SOME TIME IN THE FUTURE A STUD MAY BREAK BY ROAD IMPACT. IF IT CAN BE PROVEN THAT THE STUD IS DEFECTIVE IT MAY RESULT IN A MASSIVE RECALL. HOW MUCH TORQUE IS REQUIRED TO TWIST OFF A STUD WITH A STANDARD WRENCH? THEY ALSO CLAIM THAT THE STUD DIDN'T COME FROM THE FACTORY DEFECTIVE. THAT IS AN ASSUMPTION. ( OF COURSE WITHOUT TESTING THE STUD IT IS UNKNOWN.) WITH THAT LOGIC ANYTHING THAT BREAKS CAN BE EXCUSED AS AN EXISTING CAUSE. THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY IS DECEPTIVE. IF AUTOMOBILE PARTS NEVER BREAK THE JUNK YARDS WOULD BE EMPTY! GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS BEFORE THERE IS A FATALITY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT OR NOT! WHAT LARRY GREEN HAS LOST IS THE GOOD WILL OF A KOREAN VET AND PERHAPS MANY OTHER VETS THAT MAY HEAR OF THIS. I HAVE A 2009 IMPALA WITH BARELY 15000 MILES. TOOK IN FOR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION AT A FIRESTONE BUSINESS. MECHANIC STATES THAT FRONT TIRES WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION, AND RECOMMENDED 2 FRONT TIRES AND LIFETIME FRONT END ALIGNMENT FOR A COST OF ALMOST 750.00. DID NOT TAKE HIM UP ON HIS "GENEROUS" OFFER. THIS WAS JUST BEFORE THE CAR HIT 15K MILES. CAR HAS BEEN SERVICED EVERY 5K, AND UP UNTIL JUST OVER 10K, TIRE CONDITION WAS STATED AS "GOOD-9/32 TREAD IS STILL ON TIRES. SO, BETWEEN 10K & 15 K, THEY ARE NOW NO LONGER ANY GOOD? HAVE SEEN QUITE A FEW COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT 2009 IMPALA TIRES WEARING OUT PREMATURELY, AS DID THE 2008'S(WHICH MY WIFE HAS) FRONT END HAS NEVER SHAKEN, SHIMMIED OR ANYTHING ELSE-STILL DRIVES DOWN THE ROAD AT 50 WITH NO PROBLEM AT ALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT UNKNOWN SENSORS RELATED TO THE TRACTION CONTROL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
ROUTINE OIL CHANGE 9/9/10. "ABNORMAL TIRE WEAR, BOTH OUTER TIE ROD ENDS ARE BAD". 9/10/10 PER DEALER INSPECTION: POWER STEERING RACK & PINION AND THE RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD END HAS EXCESSIVE PLAY, REPLACED POWER STEERING RACK & PINION AND RIGHT OUTER TIE ROD END, 2-WHEEL ALIGNMENT. CUSTOMER PAID LABOR ONLY, $300.11. *TR
WE LIVE NEAR MOUNTAIN DRIVES. ON STEEP DESCENTS THE BRAKES WARP AND CHATTER TO THE POINT THAT THE CAR SHAKES VIOLENTLY AND IS DIFFICULT TO HOLD STEADY. THE LAST TRIP THE SHAKING WAS SO VIOLENT THAT A CUP WAS THROWN FROM THE CUP HOLDER IN THE FRONT OF THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND THREE TIMES THE DEALER HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND WE NO LONGER TAKE OUR CAR INTO THE NEARBY MOUNTAINS. WE HAVE A CAR WE CANNOT DRIVE SAFELY IN OUR AREA. *TR

THE WINDOW CLOSED WITH THE PASSENGERS RING FINGER CAUGHT IN THE WINDOW AND SEVERED THE END JOINT OF HER FINGER. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THERE WAS NOT A SENSOR THAT WOULD STOP THE WINDOW FROM CLOSING WHEN OBSTRUCTED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO ASSIST THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVY IMPALA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 20 MPH AROUND A CURVE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE FRONT BRAKES OVERHEATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE DEALER REFUSED TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THAT THEY HAD NOT RECEIVED ANY SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,000. BRAKES BEGAN PULSATING RAPIDLY WHILE GOING DOWN STEEP DECLINE. THIS RESULTED IN EXTREME DIFFICULTY TO CONTROL CAR. CAR WAS TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP AND ROTORS WERE TURNED DOWN. THE CAR BEGAN DOING THE SAME THING 2 MONTHS LATER. DEALERSHIP SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AND HANDED ME PAPERS STATING TO JUST GEAR CAR DOWN WHEN DRIVING DOWN MOUNTAINS. UNFORTUNATELY, THIS DOESN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *TR
KEEPS TELLING ME TO CHECK AIR BAG, BUT NOT ON RECALL LIST. WHAT CAN I DO. TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP, BUT NO HELP
2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA,BOUGHT IN JULY OF 2010 WITH 18,000 MILES ON IT. WHEN I STOP TO PARK THE CAR, MY FOOT IS ON THE BRAKE, I PUT THE GEAR SHIFT INTO PARK AND WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR WILL ROLL FORWARD 8 TO 10 INCHES. IT ALSO DOES IT IN REVERSE BUT ONLY A 3-4 INCHES. HAPPENS ABOUT 1 TIME IN 5. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, IT DIDN'T HAPPEN TO THEM AND WAS TOLD THAT WAS NORMAL. *TR
WE WERE DRIVING THROUGH THE MOUNTAINS IN OUR 2009 CHEVY IMPALA WHEN WE CAME UPON A STEEP GRADE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES TO PREVENT FROM ACCELERATING TOO FAST DOWNHILL. ABOUT HALFWAY DOWN THE FRONT END OF VEHICLE VIOLENTLY SHOOK AS I APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE LONGER I APPLIED THEM, THE WORSE THE VIBRATION. IF I WERE IN AN EMERGENCY BRAKING SITUATION, I KNOW THAT MY STOPPING DISTANCE WOULD BE SEVERELY AFFECTED. LUCKILY, I WASN'T PUT IN THAT SITUATION THIS TIME, BUT NEXT TIME I MIGHT NOT BE THAT FORTUNATE. THIS PROBLEM IS NOTHING NEW FOR CHEVY - I HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH A 1995 CHEVY CAVALIER I OWNED SOME YEARS AGO. IT APPEARS CHEVY HAS DONE NOTHING TO FIX THE PROBLEM ON ITS VEHICLES. 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA. CONSUMER STATES EXTREME VIBRATION, SEVERE STEERING DIFFICULTIES AND BRAKE UNRESPONSIVENESS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES WERE FROZEN IN ONE POSITION . THE DEALER MACHINED THE FRONT ROTORS AND SANDED THE PADS. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN AND THE CONSUMER HAD TO DRIVE IN 3RD GEAR. *JB
THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS, REALLY SPORADIC SOMETIMES TWO OR THREE TIMES A DAY SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A MESSAGE POPS UP ON MY DISPLAY STATING SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I HAVE A 2009 CHEVY IMPALA LT. RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR, I FOUND THAT THERE IS A VISION DISTORTION WITH THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER REPLACED IT RELUCTANTLY, AFTER I DISCUSSED WITH THEM. HOWEVER, THERE IS STILL VISION DISTORTION WITH THE NEW ONE, JUST AT DIFFERENT SPOTS. IT IS DANGEROUS TO HAVE VISION DISTORTION IF I LOOK FAR AHEAD. IN JUNE 2010 I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE 90 WEST TOWARD DENVER CO. THE TERRAIN WAS STEEP AND WINDING AND DUE TO HEAVY TRAFFIC THE PACE WAS FAST. THE TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME BEGAN SLOWING AND I BEGAN TO SLOW BY STEADY LIGHT PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. MY BRAKES HEATED UP FAST AND I FOUND MYSELF WITHOUT BREAKS FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME DUE TO THE ROTORS FEELING AS THOUGH THEY WERE WARPED AND THE FRONT END STARTED VIBRATING. I DOWN SHIFTED TO 3RD. GEAR BUT THAT WAS NOT ENOUGH TO SLOW ME ENOUGH SO I DOWNSHIFTED TO 2ND AND THIS STILL WAS NOT ENOUGH TO MAINTAIN A DOWNHILL SPEED TO KEEP FROM HAVING TO USE THE BRAKES. FINALLY I SHIFTED TO !ST GEAR TO MAINTAIN THE SAFE SPEED THAT I NEEDED. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE THAT THE CAR FREEWHEELS SO EXCELLENT THAT EVEN ON LOWER GRADES AS EXPERIENCED IN THE CAROLINAS IN OCTOBER WHEN WE WERE THERE THE CAR IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GEAR DOWN SO AS NOT TO OVERHEAT THE BRAKES WHEN TRYING TO MAINTAIN POSTED SPEEDS IN MOUNTAINOUS COUNTRY. I DISCUSSED THIS WITH SOLOMON CHEVROLET IN DOTHAN WHERE I GET THE CAR SERVICED AND THE DEALER FROM WHOM I PURCHASED THE CAR. THEY HAD NO SUGGESTIONS BUT ASSURED ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO DEALERSHIP WISE TO HELP ME. DURING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT HE SHOULD PURCHASE NEW TIRES AND HAVE THE ALIGNMENT DONE AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 19,886.

I WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70MPH, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER, MY SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON. AS I KEPT DRIVING, I LOST POWER TO MY ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 11,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,900.
I TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR MAINTENANCE AND FOR A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES VIBRATING AND GRINDING. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALER SIX TIMES. I HAVE CONTACTED GM TWICE. THE FIRST TIME, THEY AUTHORIZED SERVICES. THEY ARE LOOKING IN TO IT NOW. I DO NOT FEELS SAFE IN THIS VEHICLE WHEN DRIVING ON MOUNTAINS. I AM CONCERNED WHEN THE BRAKES GET HOT, THEY WILL NOT WORK. THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY ISSUES RELATED TO BRAKES AND SUSPENSION FOR THE CHEVY IMPALA. AFTER ONLY 10K MILES, THE BRAKES BEGAN TO PULSATE. THE DEALERSHIP RESURFACED THEM. THEY WERE FINE FOR A BIT LONGER BUT THEN THE ISSUE REOCCURED. I AM NOT SURE IF ITS A OVERHEATING ISSUE OR WHAT BUT IT HAS HAD OTHER BRAKE AND SUSPENSION ISSUES AS WELL. I RENTED A GM IMPALA FROM ENTERPRISE RENTAL CAR IN FLORENCE, KY ON MARCH 28TH. THE GAS PEDAL BECAME DETACHED FROM THE BRACKET DURING NORMAL DRIVING. ON MARCH 28 OR MARCH 29TH. IT WAS REPORTED TO ENTERPRISE THE EVENING OF MARCH 29TH WHEN IT WAS DISCOVERED. ENTERPRISE RENTAL FAILED TO TAKE ANY ACTION IN A TIMELY MANNER UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED. THIS IS A SAFETY COMPLAINT AGAINST GM FOR THE GAS PEDAL BEING ABLE TO FALL OFF AND ENTERPRISE RENTAL FOR FAILURE TO REACT TO A SAFETY HAZARD CONDITION. I HAD JUST TURNED ONTO THIS ROAD, HAD NOT EVEN GONE A MILE. NO SPEED, NO BLACK MARKS, CAR SHUT DOWN RAN OFF THE ROAD AND HIT A TREE STUMP. TOTAL THE CAR. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS BENT ALMOST IN HALF. AT 16,000 MILES VEHICLE WOULD SHUDDER DURING HIGH SPEED BRAKING AND WHEN ON DOWNHILL MOUNTAINS THE SHUDDER WOULD LEAD TO THE CAR BOUNCING ON THE ROAD. DEALER TURNED FRONT ROTORS. 2009 CHEVY IMPALA 2LT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE BUYING THE CAR NEW IN JANUARY 2010. CURRENTLY THE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR 2 WEEKS STRAIGHT WITH YET ANOTHER DEALER VISIT SCHEDULED. THIS WARNING LIGHT WHEN ILLUMINATED RENDERS THE REST OF THE ELECTRONIC DISPLAY USELESS SINCE THE "SERVICE AIRBAG" DISPLAY NEVER GOES OFF. THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS FAILED TO FIX THE PROBLEM SATISFACTORILY FOR THE PAST 4 YEARS DESPITE THE MULTIPLE TIMES WE HAVE HAD IT IN FOR THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ISSUE. A DEAD BATTERY AT THE AIRPORT PARKING LOT IN A 2009 CHEVROLET IMPALA MAY NOT SEEM LIKE A PROBLEM, HOWEVER THERE IS NO MECHANICAL TRUNK RELEASE FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE AND MY BACK SEAT DOESN'T FOLD DOWN, SO I COULDN'T CRAWL INTO THE TRUNK TO TRIP THE EMERGENCY RELEASE, I WAS UNABLE TO GET TO MY JUMPER CABLES.
