TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT THE HEADLIGHTS AND HIGH BEAMS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE THE ROAD PROPERLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN AT NIGHT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39.
PARKING BRAKE IS SETTING ITS SELF AT TIMES. RECALL WAS DONE IN JANUARY 2015 BUT STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUE MAY 2015.
DRIVING UNDER NORMAL HIGHWAY CONDITIONS THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY STOPPED FUNCTIONING AND THE "SERVICE POWER STEERING" MESSAGE DISPLAYED ON THE DASH. I PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF AT THE NEXT EXIT AND TURNED THE ENGINE OFF. WHEN RESTARTED THE POWER STEERING RETURNED AS I ASSUME THE SOFTWARE REBOOTED. THE POWER STEERING RECALL HAS BEEN PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE PRIOR TO THIS INCIDENT. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME IT HAS HAPPENED AND THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE ISSUE THUS MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN MY OPINION ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER LEARNING HOW TO DRIVE. IF SHE HAD BEEN DRIVING WHEN THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED I HIGHLY DOUBT SHE WOULD HAVE BEEN STRONG ENOUGH TO MANEUVER THE CAR. *TR
THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A VEHICLE COLLISION WARNING DEVICE THAT IS INTENDED TO WARN THE DRIVER OF A VEHICLE IN FRONT THAT YOU ARE TO CLOSE TO AND CLOSING RANGE WITHOUT BRAKING. ON ABOUT 1/2 DOZEN OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE'S EARLY DETECTION SYSTEM HAS ENGAGED WITHOUT ANY VEHICLES IN FRONT. THESE OCCURRENCES SEEM TO BE ON DAYS WHEN IT IS RAINING AND THEIR ARE REFLECTIONS OFF THE ROAD, OR VERY SUNNY DAYS (AGAIN CAUSING REFLECTIONS). THE FLASHING LIGHT, LOUD ALARM, AND INTERRUPTION WITH REGULAR AUDIO IS VERY JARRING (SCARY). ON ONE OCCASION I APPLIED MY BRAKES VERY HARD BECAUSE OF THE ALARM (BUT THERE WAS NO CAR IN FRONT) - THIS ALMOST CAUSED THE CAR BEHIND TO HIT ME. THE SYSTEM SHOULD BE DISENGAGED TO PREVENT A FALSE/POSITIVE ALARM. I HAVE TAKEN IT FOR SERVICE AND CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS WITHOUT RESULTS. *TR

THE CONTACT BELIEVES IT REPRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK BOTH TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS AND TO PEDESTRIANS WHO MIGHT BE OUTSIDE THE HEADLIGHTS' NARROW FOCAL RANGE. I PURCHASED A 2014 IMPALA ON NOVEMBER 8, 2014 FROM A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND 2 DAYS LATER ON NOVEMBER 10, 2014 I RECEIVED AN EMAIL SAYING CONTACT THEM BECAUSE IT A RECALL ON THIS CAR. WHEN I LOOKED UP THE RECALL THERE WHERE 9 RECALLS ON THIS CAR. I WAS SOLD A CAR AND THEY NEW IT WASN'T SAFE. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA LS WITH STANDARD HALOGEN HEADLIGHTS. THE HEADLIGHT BEAM, BOTH ON HIGH AND LOW BEAMS, IS VERY NARROWLY FOCUSED SO THAT THE AREA IMMEDIATELY TO THE FRONT AND SIDE OF THE CAR -- AND OBJECTS LOCATED THERE -- CANNOT BE EASILY SEEN. THE LIGHTS WORK REASONABLY WELL ON A STRAIGHT ROAD, BUT WHEN EXECUTING A TURN THE PATH OF THE CAR IS IN NEAR DARKNESS AS THE LIGHTS POINT A NARROW BEAM TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE TURNING RADIUS. THIS MAKES DRIVING AT NIGHT ON ANYTHING OTHER THAN STRAIGHT HIGHWAYS AN UNNERVING EXPERIENCE AND I BELIEVE REPRESENTS A SERIOUS SAFETY RISK BOTH TO THE VEHICLE OCCUPANTS, AND TO PEDESTRIANS WHO MIGHT BE OUTSIDE THE HEADLIGHTS' NARROW FOCAL RANGE. NOTE THAT THE HEADLIGHT DESIGN IS UNUSUAL FOR A HALOGEN UNIT IN THAT IT USES A SHUTTER TO SWITCH BETWEEN HIGH AND LOW BEAM, A FEATURE MORE COMMONLY FOUND WITH HID LIGHTS. BY COMPARISON, OUR 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU, WITH SEPARATE REFLECTOR BASED HALOGEN LOW AND HIGH BEAMS, DOES A MUCH BETTER (I BELIEVE MUCH SAFER) JOB OF ILLUMINATING A BROAD AREA IN FRONT OF AND TO SIDES IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. I THINK THAT GM MUST ADDRESS THIS SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE ON AN OTHERWISE FINE VEHICLE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V541000 (BRAKES). HOWEVER, THE PARTS NEEDED WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE PARTS WOULD NOT BE AVAILABLE UNTIL FEBRUARY. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND WHEN ENGAGING THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 527.
REQUESTING ASSISTANCE WITH A FAULTY BRAKE PEDAL IN A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE PEDAL BEGAN TO MAKE A CLICKING SOUND WHEN IT WAS RELEASED. *JB
THE GM FACTORY INSTALLED 20" WHEELS RUB ON THE WHEEL WELLS WHEN CORNERING. IMPACTS STEERING AND COULD WEAR TIRES. THE CLEARENCE SHOULD BE MEASURED + INVESTIGATED ON 2014 IMPALA VEHICLES WITH THE 20" PREMIUM WHEELS INSTALLED. *TR
AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FROM 45-70MPH ON BOTH STRAIGHT, SMOOTH PAVEMENT AND ON WIDE SWEEPING CURVES, THE STEERING "FREEZES" AND REQUIRES A TURN OF THE WHEEL TO REGAIN CONTROL. THIS "FREEZING" FEELS LIKE THE STEERING IS STUCK IN A NOTCH, OR CERTAIN POSITION. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON SLIPPERY CONDITIONS AT LOWER SPEEDS (42 MPH) AND THE EFFORT TO CORRECT THE STEERING RESULTED IN AN OVER-CORRECTION ON THE SLIPPERY ROAD SURFACE CAUSING THE CAR TO SLIDE INTO THE ONCOMING LANE. THE CHEVROLET DEALER SAYS THEY "CAN'T DUPLICATE THE CONDITION." THE FIRST TIME THE CONDITION WAS OBSERVED, THE TEMPERATURE WAS IN THE 60S. IT IS MORE FREQUENT WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS 20-35 DEGREES. WITH 8600 MILES AS OF 4/6/15, THE CONDITION PERSISTS MORE FREQUENTLY. *TR
THIS WAS OUR FIRST TIME DRIVING THE CAR AT NIGHT AND WE WERE ON A COUNTRY ROAD WITH NO LINES. WE KNEW THERE WAS A STOP SIGN THERE SOMEWHERE THE SIGN WAS PARTIALLY HIDDEN BY A TREE BRANCH BUT WE COULD SEE NEITHER BECAUSE THE LIGHTS DID NOT REFLECT HIGH ENOUGH AND TO EACH SIDE (HIGH BEAMS AND LOW BEAMS DID NOT MAKE MUCH DIFFERENCE)) AND WE DROVE ACROSS THE INTERSECTION AND INTO A DITCH RESULTING IN MINOR DAMAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FRONT BUMPER. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC COMING ON THE CROSS STREET. SINCE THEN WE HAVE DONE MINIMAL NIGHT DRIVING BUT ALWAYS HAVE HAD TROUBLE SEEING ON ROADS WITH NO LINES AND ESPECIALLY SEEING TO MAKE BOTH RIGHT AND LEFT TURNS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND DISAPPOINTING AS WE LIKE THE CAR OVERALL BUT WE CANNOT DRIVE IT AT NIGHT. WE THOUGHT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH US BUT NOW WE KNOW THAT IT IS THE CAR . *TR

VEHICLE SOLD/LEASED ON 9/3/14 WITH OPEN RECALLS THE CONSUMER STATED TWO WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT HAD TO BE TOWED DUE TO A MALFUNCTIONING PARKING BRAKE, WHICH WAS RECALLED. ON NOVEMBER 16,2 014, HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING AN ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING. THE DEALER CLAIMED THE POWER STEERING HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED. ON 9/3/14 A NEW CHEVY IMPALA VEHICLE WAS LEASED TO ME WHILE UNDER A7/23/14 OPEN RECALL FOR POWER STEERING. I UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS ILLEGAL AND THE TRANSACTION IS NOT LEGAL. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
I WAS GOING TO WORK AND ON THE WAY A MESSAGE SAYING MY TRACTION CONTROL NEEDED TO BE CHECKED CAME ON. ALSO, TODAY AS I WAS GOING TO TOWN ANOTHER MESSAGE CAME ON SAYING MY PARKING ASSIST NEEDED TO BE CHECKED. *TR
WHEN DECELERATING AT A RED LIGHT WHICH TURNED GREEN, ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE WITH NO THROTTLE RESPONSE, EVEN WHEN PUSHED TO THE FLOOR FOR APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS OR MORE (SEVERAL SIMILAR INCIDENTS). SECOND INCIDENT, CAR STALLED AT A SLOW SPEED. THIRD INCIDENT, AFTER ACCELERATING THE ENGINE RPMS STAY REVING HIGH AFTER TAKING FOOT OFF THE GAS FOR SEVERAL SECONDS, AND THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND AS RECENTLY AS 9-16-15. THESE INCIDENTS ALL OCCURED BEFORE AND AFTER A COMPLETE GM DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER.

WAS DRIVING HOME WITH MY KIDS FROM THE STORE AND TURNED THE A/C DOWN. ALL THE SUDDEN WE NOTICED A POIGNANT SMELL. THIS CAN NOT BE GOOD FOR MY FAMILY. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. ALSO MY TRUNK IS WET, THE SPARE TIRE AND JACK ARE RUSTED FROM BEING WET. *TR

I JUST HAD GOT MY NEW CAR THAT DAY. I WAS ON MY WAY HOME AND I WAS APPROACHING A STOP SIGN AND I TRIED BREAKING ABD I COULD NOT STOP SO I HAD TO GO ON TO THE CURB WHICH I SIDED WITH A TREE TO AVOID HITTING ANOTHER CAR IN FRONT OF ME OR KIDS RIDINGH IN STREET. I TOOK IT IN TO GET LOOKED AT AND THEY SAID THEY DIDN'T SEE ANYTHING WRONG WITH BREAKING. SO I KEPT DRIVING AFTER THAT AND IT IS STILL DOING SO I TOOK IT IN AGAIN AND THEY SAID THE SAME THING AGAIN WHICH IS MAKING REALLY UPSET BECAUSE I AM SCARED OF HURTING SOMEONE OR MYSELF AND KIDS WHEN IT DOES THAT. I AM SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY ON MY NEW CAR AND IM NOT HAPPY WITH IT. I CANT KEPT RUNNING INTO THINGS TO AVOID HITTING SOMEONE OR THING WHEN IT DOES NOT STOP. THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE WITH MY 2014 IMPALA IS THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD VERY WELL. THE LIGHT BEAM IS NARROW PROJECTING STRAIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR. VERY LITTLE ILLUMINATION TO THE SIDES OF THE ROAD. THIS COMPLAINT MAY SOUND TRIVIAL BUT LET ME ASSURE YOU THAT I'M NOT CHEVY BASHING. THIS IMPALA IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR, I LOVE IT EXCEPT FOR THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR ME. IF I HAD TAKEN A TEST DRIVE AT NIGHT I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR. HARD TO TEST DRIVE AT NIGHT IN JULY. I EXPECTED MUCH BETTER LIGHTING ON A CAR LIKE THIS. A HALOGEN BULB IN A WELL DESIGNED AND POISONED FIXTURE WORKS GREAT. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TYPE OF FUEL NEEDED TO BE SWITCHED TO REGULAR. THE FUEL WAS SWITCHED, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A BURN FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT AND DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
AS A RENTAL VEHICLE TO USE WHILE WARRANTY REPAIRS WHERE BEING PERFORMED ON MY TRAVERSE; I HAD BEEN RENTED A 2014 IMPALA. TO MY SURPRISE THE FOLLOWING MORNING I CAME TO A STOP AND THE ENGINE QUITE, THERE WAS A CLEAR LANE WITHIN SITE THAT I FIGURED I COULD PUSH THE DEAD VEHICLE TO. I OPENED THE DOOR, WHILE KEEPING MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND POSITIONED MYSELF IN THE DOOR FRAME TO PUSH. THEN I REMOVED MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE TO REACH IN AND PLACE IT INTO NEUTRAL AND START PUSHING. TO MY SURPRISE THE VEHICLE STARTED BY ITS SELF AND ACCELERATED AWAY FROM ME, THE DOOR FRAME ALMOST KNOCKING ME DOWN, YET LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO CATCH THE CAR AND GET BACK TO THE BRAKE BEFORE THE CAR CRASHED. I CAME TO FIND OUT THAT THIS WAS AN ECONOMIC FEATURE ON THAT VEHICLE. I FEEL GREAT CONCERN THAT THIS CAR STARTED WHEN MY SEAT BELT HAD BEEN REMOVED AND DOOR OPENED, WOULD THEY HAVE AT LEAST CONSIDERED SOME SORT OF PRECAUTION FROM THIS OCCURRING. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUS, I KNOW THAT I WAS NOT ADVISED OF THIS FEATURE, AND HAD I NOT CAUGHT THE CAR OR GOTTEN KNOCKED DOWN AND RUN OVER, THE OUTCOME WOULD HAVE BEEN MUCH MORE SERIOUS. *TR
THIS WAS A RENTAL CAR THAT I PICKED UP ON SUNDAY, JUNE 22ND FROM NATIONAL CAR RENTAL AT THE REAGAN NATIONAL AIRPORT. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 35 MPH ON A TWO LANE ROAD NEAR STAFFORD, VA. AT 4:20 PM ON THE 25TH WHEN THE ENTIRE CAR SHUT OFF. I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL TO TRY AND START IT, BUT NO LUCK. I APPLIED HEAVY PRESSURE ON THE NOW NON POWERED BRAKES AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I SHIFTED INTO PARK AND STARTED THE CAR. NO FURTHER INCIDENT AND TURNED THE CAR IN ON THE 26TH AND INFORMED THEM OF THE INCIDENT. THEY MARKED THE CAR SO IT WOULD NOT BE PUT BACK INTO THE FLEET UNTIL REPAIRED. *TR
I STARTED NOTICING A VERY BAD ODOR OF MOLD AND MILDEW COMING FROM THE A/C VENTS. I TOOK THE CAR INTO THE DEALER I PURCHASED IN EARLY 2014. THE DEALER SAID THEY LOOKED AT IT AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG. AFTER I TOOK IT IN AGAIN FOR A BAD ODOR, THEY SAID THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS LETTING WATER IN THE TRUNK. A COUPLE MONTHS LATER I CHECKED THE TRUNK AND THE CARPET WAS ALL WET, WHEN I CHECKED THE SPARE TIRE COMPARTMENT IT WAS 2 INCHES OF WATER. I STARTED CHECKING EVERYWHERE AND FOUND THE CARPET IN THE FRONT DRIVER SEAT VERY WET. I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN THIS TIME I KNEW IT WAS GOING TO BE A BIG PROBLEM TO FIX, THE CAR WAS NOW SMELLING SO BAD WITH MILDEW AND MOLD EVEN THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN COULD HARDLY STAND TO SIT IN IT AT ALL. THEY HAVE TRIED TO CHANGE THE UNDERLAY, AND IT STILL SMELLS BAD. THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAD A GM SERVICE SPECIALIST COME TO THE DEALER TO LOOK AT IT. THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION TO FIX THE WATER LEAKING OR TO GET THE MOLD OUT OF THE CAR. IT HAS NOW BEEN 6 WEEKS AND I DO NOT HAVE MY CAR!! I ASKED THE DEALER TO PLEASE LET ME OUT OF MY LEASE SO I CAN GO GET A CAR THAT ACTUALLY I CAN USE. THE DEALER IS REFUSING TO OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE, AND EITHER IS GM WHEN I CALL CUSTOMER SUPPORT. I AM NOW HIRING AN ATTORNEY AND PLANNING ON TAKING THIS TO THE DEALER AND GM, AS THIS IS AN MAJOR HEALTH CONCERN AT THE VERY LEAST TO MY FAMILY. *TR
HORN IS VERY DIFFICULT TO ACTIVATE. IT IS VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE TO USE THUMBS TO ACTIVATE WHILE KEEPING HANDS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I MUST TAKE MY HAND OFF THE WHEEL AND USE THE PALM OF MY HAND TO EXERT ENOUGH PRESSURE TO ACTIVATE THE HORN, WHICH WOULD BE DANGEROUS WHEN I'M TRYING TO WARN ANOTHER DRIVER OR PEDESTRIAN OF AN EMERGENCY SITUATION SUCH AS AN IMPENDING COLLISION. AT MY FIRST SERVICE I REPORTED THIS TO MY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THE 2014 IMPALAS ARE LIKE THIS. *TR
THIS VEHICLE HAS A PUSH BUTTON ENGINE SHUT OFF BUTTON. I WENT TO A SHOPPING MALL AND FORGOT TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. WHEN I RETURNED APPROX. 1 HOUR LATER, THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING. I AM CONCERNED SHOULD THIS HAPPEN WHEN I PARK THE AUTO IN MY CLOSED GARAGE WHICH IS LOCATED DIRECTLY BELOW A BEDROOM. THE ENGINE WILL BE RUNNING ALL NIGHT AND THE BEDROOM WILL BE FILLED WITH CARBON MONOXIDE RESULTING IN DEATH TO THE OCCUPANTS. THE VEHICLE NEEDS A TIME DELAY SHUT OFF SHOULD THE DRIVER FORGET TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. THE TIME DELAY COULD BE SET BY THE MANUFACTURER AND SHOULD BE APPROXIMATELY 15 TO 20 MINUTES OTHERWISE THE ENGINE WILL RUN FOREVER. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURES, BUT THE REMEDIES FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 54.

ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS MY 2014 IMPALA INDICATED IMMINENT CRASH BY FLASHING A RED LIGHT FROM DASH INTO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND SOUNDING AN ALARM WITH 3 OR 4 BEEPS. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I THOUGHT MAYBE THE SENSOR WAS PICKING UP A SHADOW OR PARKED CAR BUT AS IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES I CAME TO THE REALIZATION THAT IT WAS NOT OPERATING CORRECTLY. ON CLEAR SUNNY DAYS WITH NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME IT BEGAN TO OCCUR. I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR 2 MONTHS AND IT HAS PROBABLY HAPPENED 15 TO 20 TIMES. AFTER DOING A LITTLE RESEARCH IT SOUNDS LIKE I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND IN FACT IF MY CAR WAS EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC BRAKING FUNCTION I'M CONFIDENT THAT IT WOULD HAVE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. *TR
WE WERE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DRIVER LIGHTLY BUMPED THE KEY OR KEY CHAIN CAUSING THE IGNITION TO MOVE OUT OF RUN AND THE CAR TO LOSE ALL POWER. WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER SAFELY BUT THE CAR HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, BE PLACED INTO "PARK", AND THEN RESTARTED. THIS INCIDENT SEEMS SIMILAR TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE CURRENT GM RECALL EVEN THOUGH THIS MAKE AND MODEL IS NOT CURRENTLY INCLUDED IN THE RECALL CLASS. THIS VEHICLE WAS A RENTAL VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING ON TEXAS HIGHWAY 287, SOUTHBOUND, MY ANTI-COLLISION ALERT SYSTEM ACTIVATED. IT SOUNDED A LOUD BEEPING, FOLLOWED BY A FULL APPLICATION OF ALL BRAKES. STARTLED, I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO RESUME MY SPEED. APPROXIMATELY 5 MILES FURTHER, THE INCIDENT REPEATED IT SELF. DURING THE FIRST INCIDENT, THERE WERE NO VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME, NONE. THE ROAD WAS DRY, STRAIGHT AND FREE OF ANY OBSTACLES. THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC BEHIND ME. THE SECOND TIME THE CAR AUTOMATICALLY LOCKED UP MY BRAKES, THERE WAS A CAR BEHIND ME, BUT HE WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AND AVOID REAR-ENDING ME. AGAIN, THERE WAS NO TRAFFIC OF ANY TYPE AHEAD OF ME AND THE ROAD WAS FLAT, DRY AND STRAIGHT. AGAIN I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE CAR AND PULL OVER TO THE SIDE WHERE I .SHUT OFF THE ENGINE. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND PROCEEDED TO MY DESTINATION IN SPRINGTOWN, TEXAS WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP THE NEXT WEEK FOR A DIAGNOSTIC SEARCH AND REPAIR OF THE INCIDENT. THEY HAD THE CAR FOR THREE DAYS AND TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE CAR. I'M FILING THIS COMPLAINT, BECAUSE I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS A POTENTIAL DEADLY THREAT TO ME, MY PASSENGERS, OR OTHER DRIVERS. *TR
THE PROBLEM THAT I HAVE WITH MY 2014 IMPALA IS THAT THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT ILLUMINATE THE ROAD VERY WELL. THE LIGHT BEAM IS NARROW PROJECTING STRAIGHT OUT IN FRONT OF THE CAR. VERY LITTLE ILLUMINATION TO THE SIDES OF THE ROAD. THIS COMPLAINT MAY SOUND TRIVIAL BUT LET ME ASSURE YOU THAT I'M NOT CHEVY BASHING. THIS IMPALA IS A BEAUTIFUL CAR, I LOVE IT EXCEPT FOR THE HEADLIGHTS. THIS IS A REAL PROBLEM FOR ME. IF I HAD TAKEN A TEST DRIVE AT NIGHT I WOULD NOT HAVE PURCHASED THIS CAR. HARD TO TEST DRIVE AT NIGHT IN JULY. I EXPECTED MUCH BETTER LIGHTING ON A CAR LIKE THIS. A HALOGEN BULB IN A WELL DESIGNED AND POISONED FIXTURE WORKS GREAT. I COPIED THE ABOVE FROM A PRIOR COMPLAINT. I REALLY LIKE THE CAR AND THE NEW DESIGN. I WAS LOOKING ON THE INTERNET TO SEE IF I COULD UPGRADE THE HEADLIGHTS( BETTER BULB OR SOMETHING ELSE) BECAUSE I TOO THOUGHT THAT THE LUMINATION OF THE HEADLIGHTS WAS SUB PAR.
