I LIVE IN HOWARD BEACH, NYC AND SAW AN ODD THING ON LINE INVOLVING A NYPD 106 WHICH IS OUR LOCAL PRECINCT THERE WHERE ONE OF THEIR CHEVROLET MODELS THERE HAD A LIKE MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION AND IT EXPLODED THERE. IT WAS SO CLOSE TO THAT THING IN 1996 WITH TWA FLIGHT 800 THERE REMEMBER THAT? BESIDES THAT, THEY HAD PHOTOS ON GOOGLE PHOTOS OF THE NYPD 106 CAR THERE ALL EXPLODED AND PARKED BY THE CURB WITH THE CAUSE A MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION LIKE REMEMBER TWA FLIGHT 800 IN 1996 THERE WITH THE PLANE THERE THE MECHANICAL MALFUNCTION MADE THE PLANE EXPLODE THERE. YES, I HOPE THIS DOES NOT CONTINUE. THERE IS A PHOTO OF IT ON GOOGLE PICTURES.
SIDE DETECTION MODULE DEFECTIVE DUE TO BEING EXPOSED TO ELEMENTS (RAIN MUD SNOW SALT) CAUSE ELECTRONIC FUNCTIONAL ISSUES WITH POWER STEERING AIR BAG REVERE BACKUP ASSIST ENTIRE GAUGE MALFUNCTION.. GENERAL MOTORS WILL NOT RECALL THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE WITH COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ON CAR GURUS WEBSITE
GASKET SEALS ON THE REAR LIGHTS ARE LEAKING AND THE TRUNK IS FILLING WITH WATER WHERE THE SPARE TIRE IS STORED. CAUSING FAULTY BRAKE LIGHTS AND WATER DAMAGE TO THE BODY OF THE CAR AND BLACK MOLD.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE 5E 'SERVICE STABILITRACK' LIGHT WILL TURN ON; THE GEAR WILL BE ON MANUAL INSTEAD OF INT HE PARK POSITION - AND I AM UNABLE TO SWITCH THE GEAR. I AM NOT ABLE TO PUT IT IN DRIVE. I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND ON A COUPLE OF TIMES BEFORE IT WILL START ON PARK. THE CAR HAS ALSO SWITCHED TO THE MANUAL POSITION WHEN I'M DRIVING AND MAKING A LEFT TURN. THIS HAPPENS MORE FREQUENTLY AFTER IT'S RAINED THE SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, BUT AFTER A FEW DAYS IT TURNS OFF. THE PROBLEM OF GOING FROM PARK TO MANUAL OR FROM BEING IN DRIVE TO MANUAL HAS HAPPENED BOTH WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION OR WHEN IT IS STATIONARY- IT'S ALSO HAPPENED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY OR IN TOWN AT LOW SPEED.
BLINDSPOT DETECTOR ON PASSENGER MIRROR NOT WORKING. STARTED FLASHING WHILE DRIVING WITH NO CAR AROUND ON CITY STREET. THEN LIGHT STOP FLASHING AND JUST STAYED ON. GOT HOME TURNED CAR OFF AND LIGHT STAYED ON. NEXT MORNING LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT THE CAR WAS NOT ON. ON MY WAY TO WORK LIGHT REMAINED ON FOR THE ENTIRE RIDE ON THE HIGHWAY. GOT TO WORK LIGHT REMAINED ON WHEN CAR WAS CUT OFF. LEAVING FOR WORK LIGHT WENT OFF AND NOW WILL NOT COME BACK ON AT ALL.
SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM: THIS IS THE SECOND REPLACEMENT OF "SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM" SENSORS, AT 98000 MILES. FIRST WAS EIGHT MONTHS AGO. MECHANIC REPORTED THIS IS "A HUGE PROBLEM." GM IS UNABLE TO KEEP THE SENSORS IN STOCK IT MAYBE A MONTH OR MORE TO GET IT FIXED. AFFECTS SAFETY AND SECURITY OF PASSENGERS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SIDE DETECTION MODULE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE NO LONGER FUNCTIONED. AN UNKNOWN WARNING INDICATOR ALERTED THE CONTACT THAT THE SIDE DETECTION INDICATOR WAS NOT FUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT INTO ANY GEARS. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. HERITAGE CHEVROLET BUICK OWINGS MILLS (11234 REISTERSTOWN RD, OWINGS MILLS, MD 21117, (866) 730-3826) DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT CONTROL CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
WHAT MY INFORMATION CENTER SAID IS SERVICE SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM. CHEVROLET WANTS ANT WHERE FROM $400.00 TO 1200.00 TO REPLACE THIS MODULE. IT HAS SCREWED UP MY EVERYTHING SO IT SEEMS. I'M SO AFRAID THAT THE GAS WILL STICK OR THE BRAKE WON'T WORK. I BELIEVE THAT THIS MODULE CONTROLLING SO MANY THINGS IN MY VEHICLE IS A HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. BY THE WAY I WAS DRIVING ON MY SIDE STREET ABOUT 40 MPH WHEN THE GAS PEDAL DID NOT WORK FOR ABOUT 10 SECONDS OR SO.
KEY IS STUCK IN IGNITION AND CALL WILL NOT TURN ON
SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM QUIT WORKING. HOWEVER IT IS CONNECTED TO THE MAIN COMPUTER SO SOMETIMES MY CAR WILL IDLE POORLY AND REV HIGH. THIS COULD PRESENT A HUGE PROBLEM IF IT REVS HIGH WHEN TRYING TO BRAKE FOR A CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I HAVE ALSO HEARD PEOPLE WITH THE SAME MODEL HAVING ISSUES WITH IT STALLING. SO THIS PRESENTS IT'S OWN PROBLEMS. SEEMS NO DIFFERENT THAN THE LOSS OF POWER LIKE GM HAD WITH THEIR IGNITION SWITCHES.
THIS HAS NOW OCCURRED ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS. WHEN MY CAR IS IN MOTION, THE STABILITRACK LIGHTS FLICKER ON AND MY CAR BEGINS TO LOSE POWER. I CANNOT DRIVE OVER 35 MILES PER HOUR TOPS, INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS ON THE FREEWAYS IN SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA!
SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT STOPPED WORKING DUE TO THE POOR DESIGN OF THE MODULES. THIS CAUSED MY GAS GAUGE AND ODOMETER TO STOP WORKING. IN ADDITION, THE FOLLOWING LIGHTS CAME ON AND SAID THEY NEEDED TO BE SERVICED: AIR BAGS, TIRES,THEFT SYSTEM, CHECK ENGINE. AFTER ALL OF THIS, MY CAR WOULDN'T START. I WAS LEFT STRANDED. THE FAULTY MODULES SCRAMBLED MY COMPUTER IN MY CAR. THE COST OF THIS REPAIR IS AROUND $1400 TO FIX, PLUS THE MODULES WILL FAIL AGAIN AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AGAIN. THE MODULES ARE A POOR DESIGN FROM GM. THIS SEEMS TO BE AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. CURRENTLY, GM HASN'T BEEN HELD RESPONSIBLE TO FIX THE DESIGN OF THESE MODULES. NOT ONLY DO WE HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR OF THE FAULTY MODULES. WE PAID AND STILL PAY A HEFTY PRICE FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WISH I KNEW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEFORE I PURCHASED THIS CAR. MY CAR WAS PARKED AND WHEN I TRIED TO START IT, IT WOULDN'T START. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO START IT. AS I DROVE IT TO THE SHOP, I DIDN'T HAVE ANY SPEED ODOMETER, TURNING SIGNALS OR LIGHTS. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS DUE TO DRIVING ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY IN A BUSY CITY. TO LOSE ALL GAUGES, LIGHTS, TURN SIGNALS AND TO HAVE OTHER NUMEROUS "CHECK" LIGHTS COME ON IS VERY UNSAFE. I COULD HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED.
CAR STARTED SMOKING FROM THE BUMPER AREA AND ELECTRICAL SYSTEM GOING NUTS. CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND ACTING WEIRD. ALL GAUGES AND INSTRUMENT PANEL GOING OFF AND ON. DOOR LOCKS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING. CRUISE ENABLE THEN DISABLE. INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM SCREEN GLITCHING OUT. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THE SIDE DETECTION MODULE AND WIRING HARNESS IS BAD WHERE IT GOT WET. THE LOCATION LEAVES IT EXPOSED TO WATER FROM THE ROADWAY AND CAN CAUSE FIRE HAZARD. VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND TURNED OFF, AN EXPLOSION OCCURRED AND FLAMES APPEARED FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO THE SCENE AND EXTINGUISHED THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER AND FAULKNER CHEVROLET (298 STOKE PARK RD, BETHLEHEM, PA) WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
SIDE DETECTION MODULES FAILED CAUSING ALL GAUGES AND DASH ITEMS TO QUIT WORKING WENT OUT AT 65 MILES PER HOUR PARTS WEEKS OUT
DURING BRAKING, THE CAR WILL SOMETIMES LURCH FORWARD DUE TO THE TRANSMISSION DOWNSHIFTING HARD. THE FEELING CREATED IS LIKE BEING HIT IN THE REST BY ANOTHER CAR AT LOW SPEED. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO REAR-END ANOTHER VEHICLE OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTIONS CONTAINING CROSSWALKS AND PEDESTRIANS.
THE REAR SIDE DETECTION MODULES CORRODED DUE TO BAD PLACEMENT ON THE VEHICLE. THE MODULE IS DIRECTLY BEHIND THE REAR WHEEL WITHOUT ANY SHIELDING, SO WHEN THE SNOW AND SALT FROM THE WINTER CAME OFF THE TIRE, IT WOULD LAND DIRECTLY ON THE READ SIDE DETECTION MODULE CAUSING CORROSION. THERE ARE A TON OF FORUMS ONLINE SUCH AS HERE HTTPS://WWW.CARGURUS.COM/CARS/DISCUSSION-T54868_DS885696. CHEVY HAD THIS PROBLEM IN 2014.5-2016 MODEL BUT WON'T COVER IT EVEN THOUGH THEY CHANGED THE MODULES IN NEWER MODELS TO PROTECT AGAINST THE ELEMENTS BETTER. THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT REFUSE TO FIX IT FOR OLDER MODELS.
WHEN THE REAR DETECTION SYSTEM CONTROLLER GET CONTROLLER IT CAN TAKE DOWN THE VEHICLE COMMUNICATION BUSS WHICH TAKES OUT ALL FUNCTIONALITY OF THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. ALL GAUGES QUIT WORKING AS WELL AS TURN SIGNALS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THIS ISSUE OCCURRED.
MY WHOLE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED! MY SIDE DETECTORS STOPPED WORKING THE FORWARD COLLISION FAILED ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I HAD SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR BUMPER. THEN I WAS GETTING ALL KINDS OF MESSAGES AIRBASE, ABS, TRACTION I LOST ALL THE GAUGES NO SPEEDOMETER NOTHING THE HEAT WOULD COME ON AND STUFF OFF ALL BY IT SELF. BEFORE I COULD MAKE IT TO MY SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO GET CHECKED OUT IT DIED I COULD GET IT STARTED ANYMORE!! VERY UNSAFE WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD! AND VERY FRUSTRATED WITH GUM BECAUSE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE OF FAILING MODULES.
SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM FAILED. WILL NOT WORK ON LEFT SIDE. DEALERSHIP SAID WAS CORRODED WIRES AND MODGUAL WOULD NEED TO REPLACED. ($1,100). SAFETY ISSUE AND MIGHT HAVE A ELECTRIC BURNING ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET IMPALA. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE MESSAGE CENTER DISPLAYED "SERVICE VEHICLE, AIR BAGS, FRONT LAMP DETECTION". THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MCGRATH CHEVROLET OF DUBUQUE (3255 UNIVERSITY AVE, DUBUQUE, IA 52003) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED TWO WEEKS AGO, BUT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL BEGAN DISPLAYING THE SAME MESSAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND WAS AWAITING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,755.
THE SIDE DETECTION MODULES BEHIND THE REAR TIRES ARE FAILING AND CAUSING ALL ELECTRONICS TO FAIL. THIS MODULE GOES BAD AND THE TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, BLINDSPOT MONITORS, HVAC, AIRBAGS, HEADLIGHTS AND GAUGES ALL GO OUT. THIS HAPPENS WHEN WHEN DRIVING AND IS ERRATIC IN ITS BEHAVIOR. IT ALSO MAKES THE GAS PEDAL HESITATE AND THE CAR BECOMES A HUGE SAFETY CONCERN. IT SEEMS LIKE IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM DUE TO POOR PLACEMENT.
MY CAR WAS EXPERIENCING INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH THE SIDE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM WHEN MY CAR'S DASH STOPPED WORKING WHILE TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 55 MPH.. I HAD SEVERAL SERVICE SYSTEM ERRORS` `FOR `SIDE BLIND SPOT, FRONT CAMERA, TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR ETC BUT MOST CONCERNING IS THAT THE DIRECTIONAL WOULD NOT FUNCTION, THE GAS, SPEEDOMETER, AND THE TACHOMETER DID NOT FUNCTION. IT WAS DUSK AND IT APPEARED THE AUTOMATIC LIGHTING CONTROL STOPPED WORKING AS WELL. I STOPPED SAFELY AND TURNED OFF MY CAR AND TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR AND THE PUSH BUTTON START WOULD NOT WORK. I WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE CAR BY PUTTING THE KEY FOB IN THE FACTORY POCKET DESIGNED TO START THE CAR WITH A KEY FOB WITH A LOW BATTERY. I WAS ABLE TO GET MY CAR INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT THE SIDE BLIND SPOT MODULES WERE BAD. THEY DISCONNECTED THE MODULES AND MY CAR'S DASH FUNCTION RETURNED WITH JUST A WARNING TO SERVICE THE SIDE BLIND SPOT SYSTEM THE DEALERSHIP PROVIDED ME A COPY OF A GM SERVICE BULLETIN #17-NA-154 SERVICE SIDE OBJECT DETECTION MESSAGE STATING TO REPLACE BOTH MODULES AND THE WIRING HARNESS NEED TO BE REPLACED FOR $1,638.91. I HAD ALREADY REPLACED ONE MODULE 13 MONTHS EARLIER FOR $720. THIS FAILURE MODE IS UNACCEPTABLE LEAVING THE CAR IN A DANGEROUS STATE WITHOUT DIRECTIONALS, IMPORTANT GAGES LIKE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL , AND POSSIBLY NO AUTOMATIC LIGHTING CONTROLS. THE DESIGNED FAILURE MODE SHOULD BE SOLELY A SERVICE BLIND SPOT MONITORING SYSTEM LEAVING ALL OTHER SYSTEMS OPERATIONAL. CURRENTLY I AM TOLD THAT ALL PARTS REQUIRED TO FIX MY CAR ARE UNAVAILABLE. AN ADVANCED SAFETY SYSTEM THAT IS DANGEROUS WHEN IT FAILS IS NEITHER ADVANCED OR SAFE.
THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY WIFE WHILE DRIVING ON A BUSY STREET. SHE COULD HARDLY HANDLE THE STEERING BUT DID MANAGE TO PULL AROUND A CORNER AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC. WE HAD IT TOWED TO ANTELOPE VALLEY CHEVROLET AND I ASK IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE STEERING AND THEY SAID NO. THIS HAPPENED MARCH 14, 2019 AND THE CAR HAD 20,106 MILES ON IT. I WAS LOOKING THROUGH THE RECALLS ON THIS MODEL IN JANUARY 2020 AND IT SHOWED THERE WAS A RECALL JULY 23,2014. ANTELOPE VALLEY CHEVROLET CHARGED US $300.00 TO UPDATE THE SOFTWARE BUT THE RECALL SHOWED IT SHOULD OF BEEN FREE. ANTELOPE VALLEY CHEVROLET SAID THEY CHECKED THE RECALL AT 1036 MILES SO NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS HAPPENING AT 20106 MILES. DID THEY CHECK THE RECALL AT 1036 MILES? IF THEY HAD CLEANED THE PAINT FROM THE GROUND STUD NUT WHY WOULD IT HAPPEN AT 20,106 MILES. IS IT GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING EVERY 20,000 MILES BECAUSE IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS THING AND COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT VERY EASILY. WHAT I THINK I SHOULD GET IS MY $300 BACK FROM ANTELOPE VALLEY CHEVROLET BECAUSE THEY PROBABLY DIDN'T DO THE JOB THE FIRST TIME. ALSO MAYBE THE RECALL SHOULD BE ACTIVATED AGAIN BECAUSE OF THE DANGER OF THE STEERING GOING OUT AND CAUSING AN ACCIDENT ON A ROAD, HIGHWAY OR FREEWAY.
SIDE BLIND ZONE ALERT SENSORS HAVE FAILED. THESE FAILED SENSORS ARE CAUSING OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH THE VEHICLE INCLUDING AIR BAG WARNING, INSTRUMENT CLUSTER INTERMITTENTLY NOT WORKING, HVAC CONTROLS NOT WORKING AND INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH STARTING THE CAR. RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GM EXTENDING COVERAGE ON THE COMPONENTS TO 6 YEARS / 80,000 MILES. VEHICLE HAS 142,000 MILES BUT THIS IS NOT A PART THAT IS A WEAR AND TEAR ITEM. GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS PART HAS KNOWN ISSUES BUT HAS LIMITED THE AMOUNT OF TIME/MILEAGE THEY WILL COVER. SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO INSTRUMENT CLUSTER BEING UNRESPONSIVE AND AIR BAG POTENTIALLY BEING DISABLED DUE TO THIS.
WHILE ENGINE RUNNING AND VEHICLE IS STATIONARY AND/OR IN MOTION THE BRAKE LIGHTS FLASH INTERMITTENTLY. BRAKES DO NOT ENGAGE, BUT IT DOES CAUSE CRUISE CONTROL TO DISENGAGE. SAW A RECALL FOR THIS, BUT MY VIN NOT INCLUDED.
AROUND 100,000 MILES (ABOUT 5 YEARS OLD) I STARTED RECEIVING A SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM WARNING AND IGNORED IT FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS BECAUSE I DIDN'T FEEL LIKE I WAS DEPENDENT ON THE BLIND SPOT WARNINGS. ONE MORNING I STARTED MY VEHICLE AND I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE FOR ABOUT EVERY SENSOR ON THE CAR. THE CAR STARTED IT BUT THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING ROUGH. LUCKILY, I WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT TO A MECHANIC. THEY FOUND OUT THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WAS SHORTING OUT DUE TO THE BAD SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM SENSOR. I HAD TO PAY ALMOST $750 TO REPLACE THE BAD SENSOR. THE WORST PART IS NOW ABOUT 18,000 MILES LATER, I'M GETTING THE SAME SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM ERROR. IT MUST BE A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW IF THE REPLACEMENT PART IS LASTING LESS THAN 20,000 MILES AND LESS THAN YEAR. NOW, I HAVE TO BALANCE WASTING ANOTHER $750 VERSUS MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM SHORTING OUT DUE TO THE FAILING SENSOR - HOPEFULLY, THIS SHORTING OUT DOESN'T OCCUR DURING HEAVY TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ISSUE. A FEW SIMPLE INTERNET SEARCHES SHOWS THAT MANY CAR OWNERS ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE, I CAN'T BELIEVE THE GOVERNMENT DOESN'T FORCE CHEVY TO ISSUE A RECALL.
SIDE DETECTION MODULE WENT OUT ON BOTH SIDE AFTER IT WAS IMPACTED BY RAIN. I WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT THERE IS A NEW MODULE HOWEVER I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 1300.00 FOR IT BECAUSE IT IS SEALED UP BETTER AND LESS LIKELY TO RECEIVE WATER DAMAGE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT IF NOT FIXED THAT MY CAR WONT START AND I WOULD HAVE OTHER ELECTRICAL ISSUES. OTHER PEOPLE HAVE SAID THEY THEIR MODULE HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE. BAD PART CHEVROLET THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED ASAP.

SIDE TRAFFIC DETECTION SYSTEM IS INOPERATIVE. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 15 DAYS AS OF THIS WRITING . WE ARE BEING TOLD THE CONTROL MODULES TO REPAIR THE DEFECT IS NOT AVAILABLE. WE ARE ELDERLY AND CANNOT BE WITHOUT THE USE OF A CAR.
LEFT REAR SIDE DETECTION MODULE AND RELATED WIRING HARNESS FAILED DUE TO CORROSION FROM EXPOSURE TO WATER AND WEATHER ELEMENTS DURING NORMAL OPERATION. PLACEMENT OF MODULE INSIDE THE REAR BUMPER CAUSED MOISTURE TO ACCUMULATE WITHIN MODULE AND ITS RELATED ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS. DURING FAILURE, WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, MODULE SENT ERRATIC SIGNALS TO OBC CAUSING PARTIAL SHUTDOWN OF KEY ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS INCLUDING TURN SIGNALS AND INSTRUMENT CLUSTER. THIS MODULE HAS A HIGH, PRE-MATURE FAILURE RATE, DUE TO EXPOSURE TO WEATHER ELEMENTS AND ROAD SALT IN NORTHERN STATES. CHEVROLET HAS DIFFICULTY KEEPING SUFFICIENT MODULES IN STOCK AT LOCAL DEALERS. ORDER OUT TIME FOR SUBJECT COMPONENTS IS 3-5 BUISNESS DAYS.
EVERY WARNING LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD BECAME ILLUMINATED. LOST POWER STEERING, CAR BECAME SLUGGISH, LACKED SPEED, AND POWER. BRAKING CONTROL WAS LIMITED. VEHICLE WAS DRIVE ABLE ONLY IN LIMP MODE.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Impala. The contact stated that the side detection sensors that illuminate on the rear-view mirror failed to function as intended. The contact stated there was a special customer program released however they had missed the expiration date by one month. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer who confirmed that the side detection sensor, modules and wire harnesses needed to be replaced. The contact later found that the wiring harness associated with this system was prone to corrosion and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however the failure continued to occur intermittently. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 44, 786.

BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE BLIND SIDE SENSOR WAS CORRODED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO UNPLUG THE WIRING HARNESS FROM THE BLIND SIDE SENSOR. AFTER UNPLUGGING THE WIRING HARNESS, THE VEHICLE WAS OPERABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE PROBLEM PROGRESSED TO THE POINT WHERE THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WOULD ALSO FAIL - ALL INSTRUMENTS (SPEEDOMETER, TACHOMETER, ETC.) WOULD GO DEAD, VIRTUALLY ALL WARNING LIGHTS (TRACTION CONTROL, ABS, AIR BAG, ETC.) WOULD GO ON, HEATING SYSTEM (INCLUDING BLOWER) WOULD GO DEAD AND TURN SIGNALS AND HAZARD LIGHT WOULD BE INOPERATIVE. ALL OF THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, WHETHER IN CITY TRAFFIC OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. ALTHOUGH THE MAIN OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE HAS NOT YET BEEN AFFECTED, THERE IS NO WAY TO SIGNAL OTHER DRIVERS OF A PROBLEM (NO HAZARD LIGHT OR TURN SIGNALS) IN THE EVENT OF A LARGER FAILURE. RESEARCH OF ONLINE CUSTOMER FORUMS SHOWS THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON WITH THE LATEST GENERATION (2014 AND NEWER) IMPALA. REPLACING THE MODULES (AND IN SOME CASES, ALSO THE WIRING HARNESS, WHICH BECOMES CORRODED FROM THE WEATHER) SEEMS TO BE A SHORT TERM FIX AT BEST, AS THE DESIGN OF THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM EXPOSES THE SENSORS AND WIRING HARNESS TO ROAD SPRAY AND RAPID CORROSION DAMAGE. FURTHERMORE, THE BLIND SPOT DETECTION SYSTEM IS CONNECTED TO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IN A MANNER THAT EVENTUALLY RENDERS THEM INOPERATIVE AS WELL. THIS OCCURS RANDOMLY WHILE DRIVING.
I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT LAST MONTH ABOUT MY 2014 CHEVY IMPALA'S SIDE DETECTION SYSTEM, BACK UP CAMERA WARNINGS, AND FORWARD COLLISION SYSTEMS ALL NOT WORKING. TODAY I AM ADDING THAT WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY IN MODERATE RAIN DOING 55MPH, MY STABILITRAK LIGHT CAME ON, ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND I LOST POWER STEERING. I DID NOT LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR, BUT IT COULD HAVE BEEN BAD. I CALLED CHEVY AS SOON AS I GOT HOME TO FILE A COMPLAINT. I WILL BE BRINGING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TOMORROW AS I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING AS WELL WITH THE NEXT THING TO GO IS THE CAR WON'T START. THIS SITUATION IS UNCALLED FOR IN A VEHICLE WITH 45,000 MILES AT A PRICE TAG OF $35,000, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE OTHER ISSUES STARTED HAPPENING AROUND D 38,000 MILES. BEFORE TODAY, WHEN I STARTED MY CAR THE SERVICE LIGHTS FOR FRONT CAMERA, PARK ASSIST, AND SIDE DETECTION ALL LIT UP. I DID NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AT THAT POINT BECAUSE I HEARD IT WAS EXPENSIVE TO FIX NOW I HAVE TO AS THE SAFETY OF DRIVING IT IS SEVERELY UNSTABLE.
WE LOST POWER STEERING. THERE ARE AT LEAST 2 BULLETINS ON THE STEERING CONTROL MODULE. TOTAL PSCM FAILURE. DEALER CLAIMS ENTIRE STEERING SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. CAR HAS 68 K MILES. WHO WOULD EVER EXPECT TO LOSE THIS CRITICAL SYSTEM ON A WELL CARED FOR CAR. THIS IS A DANGEROUS CONDITION

IT HAS A FEW DIFFERENT PROBLEMS. THE FIRST BEING A TRUNK SEAL THAT WAS ALREADY RECALLED, YET MY “FIXED” SEAL WASN’T EVEN FIXED AND MY TRUNK IS STILL TAKING ON WATER WHEN IT RAINS. THE OTHER PROBLEM STARTED A WEEK AGO. MY ABS LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND NEITHER WILL GO OFF. TODAY WHILE DRIVING MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS LOSING POWER ALL OF A SUDDEN AND A DINGER WENT OFF AND THE BRAKE ASSIST LIGHT CAME ON AS WELL AS 2 PARKING BREAK LIGHTS. BOTH TIMES THE LIGHTS COME ON I WAS DRIVING. NONE OF THE LIGHTS WILL GO OFF, AND NOW IT’S DINGING FOR A MINUTE OR MORE JUST BECAUSE OF THE WARNING LIGHT.

SERVICE POWER STEERING WAS DISPLAYED ON MY VEHICLE WHICH MADE YOU'RE DRIVING VERY DANGEROUS AND UNSAFE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT THEY COULDN'T FINE ANYTHING WRONG BUT THE PROBLEM WAS CLEARLY THERE. THIS OCCURRED ON FEBRUARY 1 AND AGAIN ON MARCH 8.
CAR LOST POWER AND ENGINE WENT OUT. STABILITY TRACK IN ON.
WHILE IN MOTION AROUND 30MPH, FELT A VIBRATION FOLLOWED BY 2 MESSAGES ON THE INFO CENTER. SERVICE STABILITRACK, SERVICE POWER STEERING DRIVE WITH CARE. THE ABS LIGHT AND THE STABILITRACK LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH AS WELL AS NO LONGER HAVING POWER STEERING.
WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, MY SIDE DETECTION LIGHT REMAINED ON AND STAYED THAT WAY FOR A FEW DAYS THEN COMPLETELY STOPPED WORKING. I WAS STILL UNDER 36,000 BUT OVER 36 MONTHS. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALERSHIP BUT CANCELLED AFTER TALKING WITH MY FRIEND WHO SAID THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO HER DENALI AND IT COST HER $3000 TO FIX IT. A FEW MONTHS AGO, I WAS DRIVING AROUND 50 MPH, ALL THE SENSORS STARTED FLASHING ON MY DASH-PARKING ASSIST, BRAKES, SIDE DETECTION, FRONT CAMERA, ETC. THE GAUGES STOPPED WORKING, THE HEATER TURNED OFF AS DID THE RADIO AND FELT LIKE THE POWER WAS WAY DOWN. MY BLINKERS WEREN'T WORKING EITHER. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR OFF TO TRY TO RESET IT AND IT DID NOT WORK. I FINISHED MY DRIVE TO WORK. WHEN RETURNING TO MY CAR, IT DID NOT REPLICATE THE SAME BEHAVIOR AS IN THE MORNING. NOW, MY LANE DEPARTURE AND FRONT CRASH DETECTION IS NOT WORKING. I HAVE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE IN THE 2014 CHEVY IMPALA. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN, ALONG WITH MY HUSBAND, A GM PRODUCT OWNER, GM HAS A PLANT 1 MILE FROM US AND THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT SHUTTING IT DOWN. IF THIS IS NOT SOMETHING GM LOOKS INTO RECALLING, I MAY MAKE THE SWITCH TO A DIFFERENT CAR COMPANY. I HAVE NOT YET TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER BUT SINCE MORE AND MORE THINGS KEEP BREAKING, I WILL BE SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT SOON AND LETTING GM KNOW EXACTLY HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS. AFTER SPENDING $35,000 ON A VEHICLE, IT SHOULD NOT ACT LIKE THIS.

I'VE RESEARCHED ONLINE AND FOUND SEVERAL OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUES RANGING BACK TO 2018. I'VE TAKING MY CAR TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND FOUND THAT THE SENSOR MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I ALSO FOUND THE SENSOR IS ON BACK ORDER, WHICH MAKES ME BELIEVE THIS IS A LARGER ISSUE THAN I THOUGHT AND SOME ONE NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE FURTHER. DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AND SEVERAL SECURITY FEATURES START TO TURN OFF IS DANGEROUS.
