POWER DRIVER'S SEAT TRACKS AND ADJUSTORS ROCK BACK AND FORTH WHEN STOPPING AND STARTING. THIS CREATE A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE DRIVER CAN LOSE CONTROL OF VEHICLE OR HAVE REDUCED BRAKING FORCE.*AK
THIS CAR HAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC 3 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME WAS APRIL 25, 01. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE CAR WENT DEAD SOMEONE RAN OVER AND ASSISTED ME IN GETTING THE CAR OUT OF THE STREET. IT WAS TOWED TO CRAIN CHEVROLET. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE CAR AND I GOT IT BACK THE NEXT DAY. MAY 4, 01 THE CAR STOPPED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC ON A MAIN THOROUGHFARE I PULLED OVER AND A FEW MINUTES LATER IT STARTED BACK UP AND IT STOPPED AGAIN. IT WAS TOWED TO GWATNEY CHEV. THEY REPAIRED IT AND I GOT IT BACK ON MAY 10, 01 AND IT STOPPED AGAIN IN TRAFFIC ON A MAIN THOROUGHFARE ON MAY 11, 01. IT IS NOW AT GWATNEY CHEV. I ALSO CONTACTED GM AND INFORMED THEM THAT I AM A RISK TO ME AND TO OTHER MOTORIST. GM CALLED TODAY AND SAID THAT THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND ARE HAVING TO ORDER A PART. IT WILL TAKE A FEW DAYS FOR ME TO GET IT BACK. HAS ANYONE ELSE REPORTED PROBLEM OF THEIR 2001 MALIBU STOPPING IN TRAFFIC. THE MANUFACTURER IS WORKING WITH ME HOWEVER, I THINK THAT OTHERS SHOULD BE MADE AWARE.*AK
AUTOMATIC WENT FROM PARK TO REVERSE AS I WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF VEHICLE. DRAGGED ME SOME 30 FEET BEFORE CROSSING I-8 EAST OF SAN DIEGO, CA. I HAD A CHEST CONTUSION, BROKEN TOE ON RIGHT FOOT, AND SEVERE BRUISING WITH BLEEDING.*AK
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTSDOWN WITHOUT WARNING, CAUSE UNKNOWN. PLEASE GIVE ANY FURTHER DETAILS.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING AT 50-55 MPH AND WHEN DEPRESSING BRAKES CONSUMER HEARD A POPPING NOISE, AND THERE WAS EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED 4 TIMES. PLEASE PROVIE FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
VEHICLE HAS 17,000 MILES, ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE ABNORMAL WEAR. CENTER OF ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE "VALLEYS" IN THEM. FRONT TWO TIRES HAVE KNOTS ON TOP INSIDE. PIECES OF RUBBER ARE COMING OFF. TIRES MAKE "WHOP" SOUND WHEN DRIVING. (TIRESIZE: 31) (TIRESIZE: 31)
AFTER VEHICLE SITS FOR AWHILE, THE BRAKES GRAB AND SQUEAL, DEALER HAS REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS AND PADS, REAR BRAKES ARE NOISY, DEALER REPLACED REAR DRUM ASSEMBLY, CLEANED AND ADJUSTED REAR BRAKES, AND GREASED BACKING PLATES, BRAKE PROBLEM IS NOT REMEDIED. *SLC

ALSO, HAD NEW STRUTS PUT ON REAR. *AK CONSUMER STATED THAT DRIVER SIDE HEAD LAMP OUT OF ADJUSTMENT, FRONT BRAKE PADS MAKE NOISE, ENGINE MAKES TAPPING NOISE WHEN FIRST STARTING, THERE WAS A SHIMMY IN VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING DUE TO STRUTS LEAK. *YH
AFTER RAIN CONSUMER NOTICED A LEAK INSIDE OF VEHICLE ON PASSENGER'S FRONT DOOR. ALSO, LEAKING ON FUSE BOX. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED FOR REPAIRS THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME. PLEASE PROVIDE FURTHER INFORMATION. *AK
THIS IS A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. THESE CARS ARE PURCHASED AS FLEET VEHICLES. I HAVE NOT HAD A PROBLEM AT ALL WITH LAQUA CHEVROLET, THEY HAVE FIXED THESE VEHICLES ANYTIME THERE HAS BEEN A PROBLEM. WHAT I AM VERY CONCERNED WITH IS, THESE BRAKES WERE JUST REPLACED LAST MONTH AND WE ARE ON THE THIRD SET OF BRAKES AND ROTORS, AND THEY HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN THIS MONTH.. IS THERE ANYTHING I CAN DO REGARDING THESE 8 VEHICLES? I ONLY SENT YOU ONE OF THE VIN NUMBERS, I HAVE 7 MORE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND CONSIDERATION TO THIS MATTER. THE ROTORS HAVE BEEN REPLACED TWICE DUE TO WARPAGE WHIVH CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO VIBRATE HILE BRAKING, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A DESIGN FLAWWARPED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS WAS TURN DOWN BY THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. *MJ
THE TRANSAXLE WAS STUCK IN PARK. THE OWNERS MANUAL STATES THAT THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO TORQUE LOCK IF YOU HAPPEN TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK INCORRECTLY, THERE MAY BE DIFFICULTY GETTING IT OUT. THIS LOCKING OF THE TORQUE HAPPEND TWO MORE TIMES DURING CONSUMERS TRIP. *JG *SCC
AT 20000, IF THE VEHICLE HITS A BUMP OR A DISFIGURE IN THE ROAD THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT DOWN NO MATTER WHAT SPEEDS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN TWO DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS WHICH ONE CHANGED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND THE OTHER CHANGED THE FUEL FILTER. VEHICLE IS STILL EXEMPLIFYING SAME FAILURE. NLM

WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISION, DUE TO THE PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELT NOT LOCKING THE PASSENGER WENT THROUGH THE WINDSHEILD. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. MR
THE CALIPERS ON THE VEHICLE FLEXED, THE CASTING BENDED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED WHICH CAUSED MISALIGNMENT OF THE GUIDE PINS. *JG *JB
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS. WITH LESS THAN 16000 MILES THE CONSUMER HAS REPLACED THE PADS AND ROTORS THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURE AND DEALER WERE CONTACTED AND CHANGED THE PADS AND ROTORS ONE TIME FOR FREE BUT THE OTHER TWO TIMES THE CONSUMER HAD TO PAY. *NLM
THE BRAKES PADS WERE REPLACED 4 TIMES, HOWEVER THEY CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCED UNEVEN WEAR. *JB ON FOUR OCCASIONS THE BRAKE ROTORS WERE MACHINED, AND ON TWO OCCASIONS THEY WERE CLEANED, LUBED, AND CALIPER SLID. SCC
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT A POWER LOCK PROBLEM. ALSO, VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. DEALER WAS CONTACTED, AND STATED THAT VEHICLE WAS RECALLED. HOWEVER, CONSUMER WAS NEVER INFORMNED OF THE RECALL, AND HAD TO HAVE THE WHOLE IGNITION SWICH CHANGED.*AK
THE TURNING SIGNALS FAILED TO FUNCTION WHEN WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE USED. DEALERSHIP REPLACED MULTI FUNCTIONING SWITCH. ALSO, PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT BELT CATCHES, BUT WOULDN'T RELEASE. *AK
THE CONSUMER STATED THE TURN SIGNAL WORKED SPORADICALLY. *AK
WHILE TRAVELING 35 MPH OWNER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND VEHICLE EXPERIENCED TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE, ALONG WITH EXCESSIVE GRINDING NOISE. AFTER INSPECTION BY A DEALERSHIP OWNER WAS INFORMED THAT THE FRONT PADS WERE WORN 50%, AND THE FRONT ROTORS HAD WARPED. OWNER WAS CONCERNED ABOUT THE EXTENT OF BRAKE FAILURE AT LOW MILEAGE.*AK
VEHICLE FAILED TO START. TOWED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP. INFORMED BY MECHANIC A COMPUTER CHIP WAS CAUSING LACK OF STARTING PROBLEM. WOULD HAVE PROBLEM CHECKED AND REPAIRED EACH TIME. VEHICLE BEEN TO DEALERSHIP 9 TIMES FOR NON START.*AK
PROBLEMS WITH BRAKES ON 2001 CHEVROLET MALIBU.*MR BRAKES WERE REPLACED TWICE ALONG WITH RESURFACING THE ROTORS AND REPLACING THE RIGHT FRONT CALIPER. THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A METAL-TO-METAL SOUND AND THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR WHEN APPLIED. IN ADDITION, CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED (7855 MILES) AFTER THE INITIAL REPLACEMENT. *PH *JB
THE BRAKE ROTORS WARPED WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHIMMY WHILE APPLYING PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. *AK CONSUMER HAD NOT REPAIRED THE VEHICLE DUE TO COST. THE CONSUMER'S FRIEND STATED THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH ALL CHEVROLET MALIBU'S. *PH *NLM
THE TURN SIGNALS OPERATED INTERMITTENTLY DUE TO A MALFUNCTION IN THE HAZARD WARNING SWITCH. DEALER REPLACED THE HAZARD WARNING SWITCH. *AK
PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE'S TURN SIGNALS, DOOR LOCKS AND BRAKES.*MR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR SIX MONTHS UNTIL THE DEALERSHIP WAS ABLE TO SERVICE THE PROBLEM. THE DOOR LOCKS WOULD FREEZE IN THE WINTER TIME AND WOULD OPEN SPONTANEOUSLY WHILE DRIVING. THE DEALERSHIP RESPONDED BY STATING THEY DIDN'T EXPERIENCE THIS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING CHECKED. THUS, THE PROBLEM WASN'T HANDLED BY THE COMPANY. APPARENTLY, THE DOOR HINGES WERE NEVER PROPERLY GREASED UNTIL THE CONSUMER'S FATHER DID IT. THIS RESOLVED THAT PROBLEM. BRAKES WERE ROUGH AND UNRESPONSIVE AT TIMES. THE TURN SIGNAL WORK WHEN THEY WANTED TO OR WHEN THE A/C WAS ON MAXIMUM OUTPUT. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO USE MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF ANTIFREEZE. *PH *JB
FRONT AND REAR BRAKES WORE OUT PREMATURELY AT 12,000 MILES. DALER HAS REPLACED THEM THREE TIMES. *AK
CONSUMER NOTICED CRACKS AND SPLITS AT BOTTOM OF GROOVES OF ALL FOUR TIRES. *AK ONE OF THE VEHICLES TIRES HAS A SPLIT IN THE SIDEWALL ABOUT 1 INCH LONG. *NLM
THE TURN SIGNALS AND HAZARDS LIGHTS WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. PLEASE DESCRIBE FURTHER. *JB

BOTH PASSENGER SIDE TIRES WERE FLAT A MONTH AFTER PURCHASE BECAUSE THE AIR WAS SEEPING OUT. THE BOTH TIRES WERE REPLACED WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL. HOWEVER, REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.*AK
LEFT AND RIGHT HUB BEARING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *PH STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN BRAKING DUE TO FRONT ROTORS HAVING EXCESSIVE RUNOUT AND PADS WORN OUT EVENLY. ALSO, CONSUMER HEARD NOISE COMING FROM HUB BEARING, DEALER REPLACED BEARING. *LA
WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL VEHICLE MADE A CLANKING NOISE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO CLAIMED THAT THIS VEHICLE WAS HAVING THE SAME SYMPTOMS AS STATED IN NHTSA RECALL 03V527000 AFFECTING CHEVROLET, MALIBUS, 1997-1998 CONCERNING STEERING GEAR BEARINGS. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK IN ADDITION, BEARING IN STEERING SNAPS EVEYRTIME WHEEL IS TURNED. *LA
