SHORTLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. *NM THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT SOMEONE PIT PARTS IN THE VEHICLE THAT WERE NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE AIR BAG. *JB
I BOUGHT MY MALIBU NEW IN SEPTEMBER 2003. IN JANUARY 2005, I BEGAN TO NOTICE THE CAR SHUDDERING WHILE BRAKING, I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY MACHINED BOTH ROTORS, I TOOK IT IN AGAIN ON FEBRUARY 8TH BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE MAKING A CHATTER AND CLANK SOUND, THEY TOLD ME THE CALIPERS NEEDED TO BE LUBRICATED, I BROUGHT IT BACK ON FEBRUARY 18 FOR THE LUBRICATION. NEXT I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR A OIL CHANGE ON MARCH 29TH AND ASKED THE TECHNICIAN TO CHECK THE BRAKES AND WAS TOLD THEY WERE FINE. ON JULY 1ST 05 I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN BECAUSE OF A BRAKE SQUEAL AND FOUND THE RETAINING BOLT /PIN ON THE LEFT FRONT CALIPER WAS MISSING. IT WAS REPLACED AS WELL AS THE BOLT/PIN ON THE UPPER BOLT/PIN DUE TO THE INTEGRITY OF THE ORIGINAL BOLT/PIN. ON SEPTEMBER 30TH 05 I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN FOR BRAKE NOISE, AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH ROTORS WERE RUSTED, BOTH ROTORS WERE TURNED AND CLEANED AT THAT TIME. ON OCTOBER 12TH 05 WHICH WAS ONLY 8 DAYS LATER I TOOK THE CAR BACK AGAIN BECAUSE THE CAR WAS STILL MAKING A GRINDING NOISE. WHEN INSPECTED THE FRONT ROTORS WERE AGAIN FOUND TO BE RUSTY, PITTED AND WORN, THIS TIME THEY REPLACED BOTH THE ROTORS AND THE BRAKE PADS. I TOOK THE CAR IN ON NOVEMBER 23RD 05 FOR RECOMMENDED 15 MAX SERVICE WHICH INCLUDED A REAR BRAKE ADJUSTMENT, I ASKED THEM TO CHECK THE FRONT BRAKES AGAIN, BECAUSE THEY WERE STILL SQUEAKING AND THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE. MAY 25TH,06 I TOOK THE CAR IN AGAIN FOR BRAKE NOISE, THEY FIRST TOLD ME THE CALIPERS AGAIN NEEDED TO BE LUBRICATED , BUT THEN CAME BACK AND SAID THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NOW IT IS JULY OF 06 AND I AM STILL HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. ALSO ON JULY 5TH, 06 I HAD TO TAKE THE CAR IN BECAUSE THE A/C AND THE RECIRCULATION MODE STOPPED WORKING, THEY REPLACED A BAD HVAC CONTROL MODULE. *NM
THE VEHICLE'S ROTORS WARPED AND THE BRAKE PADS WORE OUT WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKES TO PULSATE. *NM THE CONSUMER REQUESTED REIMBURSEMENT. THIS WAS A RECURRENT PROBLEM. *SC
TL* THE CONTACT OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO REMEDY THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH WAS REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 240,000.
WHILE APPLYING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL IT STUCK TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF VEHICLE, AND CRASHED INTO A GUARD RAIL. NO INJURIES REPORTED. VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT IN MY 2003 CHEVROLET, MALIBU ON DEC.26, 2004 AND MY FRONT AIRBAGS DID NOT GO OFF.*AK
FIRESTONE TIRES FR680, 215/70R15. REPLACED THE TIRES ON THE FRONT OF MY VEHICLE AT 25,000 MILES DUE TO SEVERE FLAT SPOTTING & STEEL CHORDS SHOWING. THE REAR TIRES ARE PERFECT. CHEVY DEALER AND TIRE STORE BOTH CONFIRMED NO ALIGNMENT ISSUES ARE PRESENT. THE TIRES ARE REALLY DEFFECTIVE. I HAD THE REAR TIRES MOVED TO THE FRONT AND BOUGHT NEW TIRES FOR THE REAR. THE SAME WEARING OCCURRED, SO BOUGHT A NEW SET OF FOUR. THERE HAS NOT BE ANY PROBLEM SINCE.*AK
CONSUMER'S VEHICLE IS INCLUDED IN A MANUFACTURED RECALL 04V092000 CONCERNING ACCELERATION CONTROL SYSTEM. HOWEVER, REPAIR WERE NOT PERFORMED AS OF YET. *AK
I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR INJURIES BUT I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TWICE SINCE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE 6/18/03. I WAS TOLD THE FIRST TIME WHICH WAS IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR THAT I HAD TO HAVE MY BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS REPLACED THAT IT WAS BECAUSE MY BRAKE PADS WERE STICKING AND HAD WORN COMPLETELY AWAY SO THEY WERE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT HAD OCCURED BEFORE I HAD PUT 12000 MILES ON THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME WAS IN SEPTEMBER AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE PADS AGAIN, BUT AFTER I TOOK MY CAR HOME I NOTICED THAT MY CAR WOULD SHUDDER VIOLENTLY WHEN BRAKING SO I TOOK IT BACK THE FIRST WEEK OF NOVEMBER AND THEY HAD TO REPAIR/REPLACE THE ROTORS FOR THE SECOND TIME AS WELL.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER WAS ENTERING A PARKING SPACE AND VEHICLE ACCELERATED AT A VERY HIGH SPEED, LEAVING SKID MARKS IN THE PARKING SPACE WHERE SHE WAS TRYING TO PARK. THEN, VEHICLE JUMPED THE CURB AND HIT A TREE. UPON IMPACT, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER WAS INJURED. *AK *TC
I HAVE PUT 3 SETS OF BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS ON MY MALIBU. I HAD THE RIGHT FRONT HUB ASSEMBLY CHANGED TWICE. MY CARS BRAKES THROW OFF ALOT OF BRAKE DUST AND MUST BE PUSHED WAY DOWN BEFORE STOPPING.*AK
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND HIT A CONCRETE BARRIER. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DRIVER AND PASSENGER SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES, AND WERE AIR LIFTED BY A HELICOPTER TO THE HOSPITAL. VEHICLE WAS TOWED, AND TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. *AK
WHEN THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. A LOUD SQUEAKING NOISE WAS HEARD WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE DRIVER THAT THE BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS NEEDED REPLACEMENT. PLEASE FILL IN ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
I HAVE HAD MY 2003 MAILBU FOR 1 YEAR AND I HAVE HAD IT TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE.THE FRONT OF THE CAR WOBBLES AND SHAKES AT LOW SPEEDS AND HIGH,THEYHAVE REPLACED THE TIRES 2 TIMES AND IT HAS NOT CORRECTED THE ISSUE.THE BRAKES HAVE BEEN ADJUSTED AND ARE WEARING AND THE CAR ONLY HAS 9000 MILES ON IT.I AM RETURNING TOT HE DEALER AGAIN 9/23 AND AFTRE THAT IF NO RESOLUTION WILL BE SEEKING LEMON LAW. I FEEL THIS IS NOT JUST AN INCONVIENENCE TO ME BUT A POSSABLE SAFTETY HAZARD AS WELL .*AK
PASSLOCK SYSTEM IS DEFECTIVE DUE TO NICKEL PLATING ON STARTER TUMBLER CAUSING OXIDATION. DEALERS ARE ABLE TO MAKE A KILLING ON THIS DEFECTIVE CONNECTOR BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO TROUBLESHOOT A FULL FUEL PUMP SYSTEM AND WIRING HARNESS BEFORE THEY WILL REPLACE THE PASSLOCK SYSTEM. OCCURS ONCE EVERY FEW MONTHS INTERMITTENTLY AND BECOMES MORE SERIOUS AS THE OXIDATION WORSENS. POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS OCCUR WHEN VEHICLE WOULD STALL IN AN UNSAFE LOCATION (IE: RAILROAD TRACKS OR HIGHWAY) AND VEHICLE WILL NOT RESTART. COUPLED WITH THE RECALL THESE VEHICLES HAD WITH THE ACCELERATOR STICKING (WHICH MINE DID ON A HIGHWAY) THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM. I HAVE RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE (ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS GOOGLE "PASSLOCK PROBLEM" AND YOU WILL GET THOUSANDS OF RESULTS AND CONSUMER FIXES COMPLAINING ABOUT HOW GM IGNORES EVERY SERVICE REQUEST FOR A SOLUTION THAT DOESN'T GOUGE CUSTOMERS. THERE IS PRACTICALLY AN UNDERGROUND CLUB DESIGNED TO HANDLE THIS PROBLEM.) ACCORDING TO THE SHOP FOREMAN AT COLONIAL CHEVROLET IN NORFOLK, VA, AFTER HIS 14 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE WITH SERVICE THIS IS A PROBLEM HE IS INTIMATELY ACQUAINTED WITH AND RECOMMENDS REPLACING THE KEY TUMBLER (PASSLOCK CHIP INTEGRATED INSIDE) AND THE CONNECTOR THAT LEADS TO THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. *TR
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN STALLING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR CHECKUP, BUT THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED AT THIS TIME.*AK
WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE ON ITS OWN. FROM 50 TO 90 MPH. THE DRIVER TAPPED THE BRAKE AND THE ENGINE SPEED INCREASED EVEN MORE. AS A RESULT DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER STATED THE INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. *JB
WHILE PULLING INSIDE OF A PARKING SPACE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER PUT BOTH FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS STUCK TO THE FLOOR. THIS CAUSED THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. *AK THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER ON FOUR OCCASIONS. THIS PROBLEM REMAINED THE SAME. GM WOULD NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. *SC *JB
VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS ON 6 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. HOWEVER, THIS PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK
REGARDING MY PREVIOUS COMPLAINT ABOUT MY 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU THAT WOULDN'T START, DOORS WERE LOCKING THEMSELVES,AND WARRANTY WAS UP... I CARRIED THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT NEW AND UPON CHECKING THE CAR AND FINDING A CODE FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOWED UP WITH MY BODY CONTROL MODULE WHILE THEY HAD IT ON THIER COMPUTER, THE SERVICE MAN INFORMED ME THAT HE WAS ORDERING A NEW BODY CONTROL MODULE AND WAS GOING TO COVER IT FOR ME UNDER WARRANTY. *AK
I DROVE MY 2003 MALIBU TO A FRIENDS HOUSE AND PARKED IT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES. COULD NOT RESTART THE CAR. IT WOULD TURN OVER AND SOUND LIKE IT WANTED TO CRANK, BUT WOULDN'T START. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED. MECHANIC SAID THAT IT WAS SOME SORT OF BODY COMPUTER PROBLEM AND THE ANTI THEFT SYSTEM WASN'T LETTING THE CAR START. SAID THAT IT HAD SHORTED OUT INTERNALLY. THE MECHANIC RESET THE THING BUT AFTER CRANKING THE CAR 4 TIMES, THE PROBLEM RECURRED. MECHANIC SAID COMPUTER WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT $500. AT JUST OVER 41,000 MILES, THE WARRANTY IS NO GOOD ON MY CAR ANYMORE. HOWEVER, I TOLD THE SERVICE MEN AT THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR MONTHS AGO THAT THE DOORS WERE LOCKING BY THEMSELVES AFTER I'D EXITED THE CAR AND WALKED ABOUT 12 FEET AWAY. TOLD THEM THAT IT HAD HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AND ASKED IF THEY'D HAD ANY OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS. HE JUST LOOKED AT ME, LAUGHED AND SAID THAT HE'D NOT HEARD ANYTHING LIKE THAT BEFORE. IF A SHORT IN THE BODY COMPUTER IS CAUSING THE ANTI THEFT TO ACTIVATE SO THE CAR WON'T START, THEN IT SEEMS LIKELY TO ME THAT THE SAME SHORT COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSING MY DOORS TO LOCK. INSTEAD OF CHECKING THAT PROBLEM OUT AT THE DEALER WHEN I FIRST TOLD THEM ABOUT IT,AND MY WARRANTY WAS STILL GOOD, THE SERVICE MAN JUST TOLD ME THAT I WAS PROBABLY HITTING THE BUTTON ON MY REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY. I DON'T EVEN HAVE KEYLESS ENTRY ON MY CAR AND I TOLD HIM THAT. STILL ALL I GOT THEN WAS A LAUGH AND A SHOULDER SHRUG. IF THE PROBLEM WITH THE DOOR LOCKS HAD OF BEEN CHECKED OUT, THEN THE PROBLEM THAT I'M HAVING NOW MAY HAVE ALREADY BEEN DETECTED WHILE MY WARRANTY WAS STILL GOOD. BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW AND FEEL LIKE THE DEALER OR THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD COVER COSTS OF PARTS AND REPAIR. WOULD LIKE TO KNOW IF THERE ARE SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND HOW THEY'VE BEEN HANDLED. *NM

WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ENGINE FAILED. AS RESULT, CONSUMER ENGAGED THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, AND CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES VEHICLE SURGED FORWARD. VEHICLE'S FRONT END COLLIDED WITH A CEMENT POLE, DIVIDING THE PARKING LOT. THERE WERE NO INJURIES INVOLVED NOR DID THE POLICE ARRIVE. THE NEXT DAY THE SAME THING OCCURRED, BUT APPLYING THE BRAKES PREVENTED ANOTHER COLLISION. *AK *NM
FOR SEVERAL DAYS THE THROTTLE HAS BEEN STICKING DURING ACCELERATION. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, THEY COULD NOT REPRODUCE THE OCCURRENCE NOR FIND ANY PROBLEM. THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS.*AK

WHILE DRIVING AND AFTER COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. *AK
DT: 07/03 PROBLEM BEGAN. CONTACT STATES MOSTLY DURNING TURNING, AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ELECTRIC STABILITY CONTROL MALFUNCTIONS AND RIGHT FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL LOCKS AND VEHICLE AND PULLS STEERING WHEEL TO THE RIGHT AND TURNS THE VEHCILE IN THE DIRECTION OF THE WHEEL LOCK UP. EVERY TIME THE MESSAGE "SERVICE STABILLITY" AND "STABILITY SYSTEM ACTIVE" POPS UP. IN ACCORDANCE WITH VEHCILE MANUAL, VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP.COMPUTER AT THE DEALERSHIP READS THAT VEHICLE IS EXPERIENCING A SKID. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE SENSORS, WIRING, AND ALL REMEDIES PER GM. PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. CONTACT IS IN TOUCH WITH GM. GM HAS SPOKEN WITH DEALER AND VISITED VEHICLE, HOWEVER NO RESPONSE TO THE OWNER.
VEHICLE LURCHED FORWARD TWICE WHILE CAR WAS COASTING TOWARDS A RED LIGHT.*MR THE CONSUMER WAS SLOWING THE VEHICLE FOR A STOP LIGHT. WHEN THE CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS TAKEN OFF THE BRAKE PEDAL THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 40 MPH WHILE THE CONSUMER PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. *NM
THERE WAS A DELAY AND OR LACK OF POWER WHEN PASSING. THE DELAY WAS IN BETWEEN ACCELERATION. *AK *SC
DEALER REPLACED AT 12,000 MILES THE FRONTS ROTORS AND PADS, AT 23,000 MILES FRONTS ROTORS AND PADS WERE REPLACED, AT 25,000 MILES ROTORS WERE RESURFACED AND REPLACED THE PADS, AND AT 27, 000 MILES DEALERSHIP INDICATED THE NEEDED RESURFACE THE FRONT ROTORS AND REPLACED THE PADS ONCE AGAIN. *AK
THE BRAKES DEVELOPED POOR BRAKING AT SPEEDS OVER 35 MPH THE FRONT END WOULD SHIMMY WHEN APPLIED. TWICE REPLACING THE BRAKE PADS AND RESURFACING OF THE ROTORS FAILED TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. REPLACEMENT OF THE FRONT DISK ROTORS THAT WOULD NOT WRAP WITH USE CORRECTED THE PROBLEM GM FAILED TO COVER THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOOSE AND HAD TOO MUCH PLAY IN IT. VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN BUT THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *AK *NM
THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION. IT HAS BEEN TO 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE NOISE STILL EXISTS.*AK
WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, WHEN EVER I BRAKE THE FRONT END SHOOK REALLY HARD, TOOK THE CAR IN, ROTORS WHERE WARPED, SO THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THEM. BACK ON THE ROAD THE CAR SHOOK EVEN HARD IN THE FRONT END TOOK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AND REPLACED THE PADS AND NOW I HAVE REALLY LOUD SOUND WHEN I STOP AND WHEN I AM ON THE EXPRESS WAY THERE IS A VIBRATION WHEN I GO OVER 70MPH. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR A YEAR AND IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP MORE THAN 7 TIMES FOR FRONT END WORK FROM THE LOWER CONTROL ARMS BEING REPLACED TO THE STRUTS BEING DEFECTIVE AND THE GM REP I CONSAULT WITH TRIES TO BE HELPFUL BUT THE CAR IS UNSAFE.*AK
I HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES ON THIS CAR AT 6,000 MILES. SINCE THEN, I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THEM ON A YEARLY OCCURRENCE, AS WELL AS ROTORS AND WHEEL BEARINGS. THE BREAKS ALWAYS SOUND LIKE THEY ARE GRINDING AND VIBRATING. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE ABS LIGHT COMING ON. IT HAS BEEN 7 MONTHS SINCE I HAD THE ROTORS REPLACED, AND I NEED NEW BREAKS AGAIN. *TR
CONSUMER HAD TO CHANGE BRAKES 3 TIMES. WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE IN THE FRONT OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FIRST TIME, AND THEY REPLACED THE BRAKES. THEN, BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN, AND CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THIS TIME THEY TURNED THE ROTORS, AND PUT ON NEW BRAKES. THE SAME TYPE OF NOISE WAS HEARD AGAIN. THIS TIME, WHEN SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR CHECKING AND REPAIR, THEY REPLACED THE MASTER CYLINDER/CALIPERS/ ROTORS, AND PUT ON ANOTHER SET OF BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE. AFTER CONSUMER PICKED UP THE VEHICLE FROM DEALER BRAKES STILL WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, BUT WAS TOLD BY DEALER IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIGHTENING UP SOME SCREWS. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED THAT IN THE LAST THREE DAYS WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE EXPERIENCED SUDDEN ACCELERATION. DEALER INSPECTED VEHICLE, AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE OR CORRECT THE PROBLEM.*AK FIRST EPISODE OF VEHICLE ACCELERATING SUDDENLY, VEHICLE ACCELERATED TO 70 MPH, AND CONSUMER HAD TO APPLY THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, DUE TO ITS SUDDEN ACCELERATION, BRAKE ROTORS HAD WARPED. IN ADDITION, THERE'S AN INTERMITTENT STICKING OF THE THROTTLE. *LA
WHILE DRIVING CONSUMER HEARD NOISES COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT SUSPENSION MALFUNCTIONED. *AK
WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL CONSUMER HEARD A GRINDING NOISE WHICH CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO HAVE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER TO BE INSPECTED, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT FRONT ROTORS WORE OUT. CONSUMER STATED THAT THE ROTORS HAD BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES WITHIN ONE YEAR. *AK
DRIVER SIDE ARM REST CRACKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE PART HAD BEEN REPLACED ONCE BEFORE. *AK PLASTIC THAT HELD THE ARM REST WAS DEFORMED AND WEAK INSIDE THE ARM REST. DEALER REPLACED DRIVER'S DOOR ARM REST ASSEMBLY. *LA
WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH AND WITHOUT WARNING VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. MECHANIC REPLACED THE SPEED SENSOR. THEN, DRIVER DROVE THE VEHICLE FROM THE DEALER, AND THE PROBLEM STILL OCCURRED. *AK *LA
WHILE BRAKING BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SHIMMY. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM TWICE, BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK
WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED THERE WAS A GRINDING NOISE AND METAL SCRAPING AGAINST METAL SOUND. TOOK VEHICLE TO MECHANIC, AND MECHANIC INDICATED THAT THEY WERE USING GENUINE PARTS FROM DEALER, AND THE PARTS ONLY LASTED 12000 MILES, AND IN SOME CASES 6000 MILES. *AK
FRONT END ROTORS ARE VERY THIN, HEATING UP, AND WARPING. ROTORS HAS BEEN CHANGED TWO TIMES SINCE MARCH OF 2003. *AK THE CONSUMER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE PULSATED WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. *TC
WHEN DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CONDITIONS THE IDLE STICKS. RPM FIRST TIME STUCK AT APPROX 2000 RPM, 2ND TIME WAS 3,000 RPM. ONLY WAY TO GET IDLE TO RELEASE IS TO TURN ENGINE OFF AND RE-START. DANGEROUS AS IT MAKES IT HARD TO JUDGE HOW MUCH PRESSURE TO APPLY TO BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP VEHICLE. *JB
ROTORS ON MY 2003 MALIBU HAVE BEEN TURNED TWICE. THERE ARE ONLY HAVE 7000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE. AFFINITY TIRES ARE TOO NOISY. CUPPED AT 5000 MILES.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 60 MPH THE CAR WON'T GET ANY GAS AND STALLS THEN DIES. IT WON'T RESTART. TOWED BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPEN 6 TIMES SINCE THE ORIGINAL INCIDENT DATE LISTED HERE.*AK
IN THE PAST YEAR I HAVE REPLACED THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS 2 TIMES AND THE PADS A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES DUE TO THE CALIPERS HANGING UP AND NOT RELEASEING FULLY. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATES THAT SHE OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS . SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN SEPTEMBER OF 2003. JANUARY 2004 SHE NOTICED A QUIVERING PULSATING BRAKE PROBLEM. SHE TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, THEY CLEANED THE BRAKES AND THEN THEY WERE FINE. MARCH 204 SHE TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR A REGULAR PENNSYLVANIA INSPECTION AND SHE HAD THEM CHECK THE BRAKES. THEY SAID THEY WERE EXCELLENT. MAY 12 2004 SHE HAD BRAKE FAILURE. THE BRAKE PADS, SHOES, AND ROTORS HAD ALL BURNT OFF THE VEHICLE. SO SHE HAD ALL OF THEM REPLACED. SHE TAKES HER VEHICLE IN EVERY FOUR TO FIVE WEEKS FOR AN OIL CHANGE. EVERY OTHER OIL CHANGE SHE HAS BRAKES INSPECTED, SO IT IS ABOUT EVERY 10 WEEKS. THE LAST WEEK OF MARCH SHE WENT IN FOR ANOTHER INSPECTION EVERYTHING, INCLUDING THE CALIBRATION ON THE BRAKES LOOKED PERFECT. MAY 10TH 2005 BRAKE FAILURE AGAIN, THE BRAKE SHOES, PADS, AND THE ROTORS BURNT OFF AGAIN. THE CONTACT CALLED THREE DEALER IN THE PENNSYLAVNIA AREA AND ALL THE DEALERS STATED THAT CHEVROLET MALIBUS ARE KNOWN FOR BRAKE PROBLEMS. SHE CALLED GM ON MAY 10TH, AND THEY WERE ONLY WORRIED ABOUT HOW MANY MILES ON THE VEHICLE SHE HAD, AND TOLD HER TO GET BRAKES SERVICED MORE OFTEN. IN A TOTAL OF SIX WEEKS VEHICLE HAS BURNT OUT THE BRAKE PADS, SHOES, AND ROTORS.*AK
