MY ELECTRIC STEERING SOMETIMES LOCKS UP AND CANT STEER ANYMORE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. ALSO, 'POWER STEERING' DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO BILLION AUTOMOTIVE (600 W. 41ST, SIOUX FALLS, SD) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000.
THE RACK AND PINION WENT OUT WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS IN CITY SETTING. STEERING WHEEL TURNED BUT WHEELS DID NOT. FELT A JUMPING IN THE WHEEL. GEARS IN RACK WERE STRIPPED WHEN MAKING A HARD LEFT TURN. STEERING WHEEL SPUN 3/4 AND RUINED AIR BAG AND NO CRUISE CONTROL. IVE HAD TO GET A NEW RACK AND PINION.
CLUNKING SOUND THAT YOU CAN FEEL IN THE FOOT PEDAL AND WHEN YOU ROCK STEERING WHEEL BACK IN FORTH AND CLUNKING NOISE COMING FROM FRONT ENDIN STEERING WHEEL AND UNABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE FELLING OVER LOOSING CONTROL OF CAR
THIS CAR HAS TOTAL STEERING LOSS THAT IS NOT PREDICTABLE. THE STEERING RECALL DID NOT FIX THIS VEHICLE. DASH BOARD LIGHT COMES ON DURING THE INTERMITTENT ELECTRIC STEERING FAILURE. THIS HAPPENS WHILE THE CAR IS MOVING AT CRUISING SPEED AND USUALLY LASTS ABOUT 2-4 SECONDS RESULTING IN A LOSS OF CONTROL.
POWER STEERING UPON IGNITION LIGHTS UP AND LOCKS POWER STEERING. TURN OFF AND RESTART SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE OPERATIONAL. ABS LIGHT INTERMITTENTLY COMES ON WHILE DRIVING. ELECTRIC ASSIST POWER STEERING. BOTH IN STATIONARY AND WHILE DRIVING IN CITY AND HIGHWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL INDEPENDENTLY TURNED TO THE LEFT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND BACK ON BUT FAILED TO FIX THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RACK AND PINION DETACHED FROM THE SUBFRAME AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONLY THE BUSHING WAS REPLACED AND NOT THE RACK AND PINION. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED ON ANOTHER OCCASION THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT TO REVERSE OR GO INTO FORWARD GEAR WHILE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFT CABLE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
WHEN MAKE A SLOW OR HARD TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION POWER STEERING SEEMS TO STOP WORKING AND STEERING WHEEL REQUIRES MORE EFFORT TO TURN
THE 6 WAY FRONT DRIVERS SEAT HAS FAILED 6 TIMES SINCE 2006. THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT WAS 3/15/2019. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS IN 2007. THE WELDS THAT SUPPORT THE FRAME BREAK AND I HAVE REPLACED THE SEAT 3 TIMES, WELDED 3 TIMES. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE AS IT HAS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AFTER HITTING A BUMP AND CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE CAR. I AM REPORTING THIS NOW AS THE DEALERS IGNORE THIS AS AN ISSUE AND JUST WANT OVER A $1000 TO REPLACE THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART WHICH WILL FAIL AGAIN. NHTSA IS MY LAST HOPE THAT LIVES WILL BE SAVED. THIS IS NOT AN UNUSUAL PROBLEM AS THERE ARE MANY REPORTS OF THIS DEFECT.
O2 SENSOR, ING FUSE KEEPS BLOWING CAUSING CAR NOT TO START
NO STEERING,STEERING TURNS AROUND AND AROUND WITHOUT STOP TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION,RIGHT OR LEFT. SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED,SPENT APPROXIMATELY $1200.00 BEFORE. CAR THIS TIME ENDED IN A TOW POUND YARD. TRIPLE AAA MOVED MY CAR TO A SHOP CALLED QUICK STOP WHERE I WANTED TO GET MY CAR FIXED AT ONLY TO DISCOVER THEY DIDN'T DO ELECTRICAL WORK WHICH THEY DISCOVERED WAS THE PROBLEM AMONG OTHERS. AGAIN THE TOWING COMPANY TRIPLE AAA CARRIED IT TO WEBB CHEVROLET SUGGESTED BY THIS SHOP. WEBB CHEVROLET DISCOVERED ALSO ELECTRICAL ISSUES. MY INSURANCE NOTIFIED ME AFTER I CONTACT THEM FOR A CLAIM REPORT. AN ESTIMATOR WAS SENT TO WEBB CHEVROLET ALSO THEY DISCOVERED AFTER A TEAR DOWN DIAGNOSIS THAT IT IS A RECALL ISSUES. NOW YOU ARE BEING NOTIFIED BY ME,RUBY WELLS OF THESE PROBLEMS. THIS IS WHY IM NOTIFYING YOU OF THE RECALLS FOUND ON THIS MAKE,MODEL AND YEAR 2004 VEHICLE. NOT STATIONARY,IT WAS IN MOTION WHEN HAPPENED ON CITY STREET. MY SON WAS ARRESTED FOR NO REASON $2000 BAIL TIMES 2 . COURT JUDGE THROUGH CASE OUT ON APRIL 45TH 2019 AFTER DISCOVERING BOGUS TICKETS WRITING AND ARRESTS THEY INDICATED THERE WAS NO INSURANCE ON VEHICLE AND HAD MY CAR TOWED TO POUND WITHIN HOURS. I HAD TO PAD TOWING FEES OF $1200 APPROXIMATELY TO GET MY CAR FROM POUND LESS THAN24 HOURS OF THE TOWING. MONEY HAS ALREADY BEEN SPENT UNNECESSARILY MONEY I HAD TO BORROW BECAUSE I'M RETIRED. PLEASE TAKE CARE OF THIS FOR ME ASAP. PLEASE!
FIRST STEERING WHEEL TURNED ALL THE WAY AROUND AND SECONDLY THEN CAR NOR GOING BACKWARD AND FORWARD DID NOT MOVE
ELECTRIC POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 75MPH. TURNED CAR OFF THEN BACK ON AND IT DIDN'T HAVE AN ISSUE. THEN CUT OUT AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING HAS COMPLETELY FAILED
THE ELECTRONIC STEERING ASSIST WOULD FAIL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOOSE STEERING AND HAVE TO COME TO A STOP AND TURN VEHICLE OFF TO AVOID A CRASH. IT IS SCAREY AND DANGEROUS. MINE ISN'T THE ONLY MALIBU MAXX THAT HAS HAD THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.
The contact owns a 2004 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked and the engine running the contact noticed that their front driver and passenger headlight were very low in both low beam and high beam and that the light eventually burned out. The contact inspected the vehicle and saw that the light bulb sockets for both the front driver side and passenger had melted. The contact stated the cause of the failure is the wiring behind the headlight assembly that is causing the headlight socket to melt. The contact replaced the headlight bulb sockets themselves with aftermarket parts to repair the failure, however, the failure persisted and reoccurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
CAR IS STUCK IN DRIVE. WONT SHIFT OUT OF GEAR.

UPON INSPECTION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT PULLED OUT OF THE RACK. THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. ELM CHEVROLET (301 E. CHURCH ST, ELMIRA, NY) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000.
STEERING OUT OF WHACK. I HAVE HAD MY CONTROL ARM ON BOTH SIDES CHANGED ALONG WITH AXLES AND A ALIGNMENT. NO LUCK ITS STILL ALL OVER ROAD. I DRIVE FROM SYLVESTER GA TO TIFTON GA EVERYDAY. IT DOES THE SAME THING EVERYTIME. ALSO I HAVE HAD MY LIGHTS REPLACED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST YEAR. WHY ARENT THE LASTING. GAS CAP KEEPS READING ERROR. WHOLE CAR. I CAN LET SOMEONE DRIVE IT TO SEE WHAT I AM SAYING.
I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT AND WAS REAR-ENDED BY A CAR GOING 15-20 MPH (THE AT-FAULT DRIVER WAS DISTRACTED BY THEIR PHONE). I WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS AND HAD A BUMP OVER MY LEFT EYE FROM HITTING SOMETHING. I HAD A CONCUSSION. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICY REPORT WAS FILED. I STILL SUFFER MID AND LOWER BACK PAIN (DISC BULGES AND FISSURES). AFTER THE WRECK, I STARTED TO GET A WARNING ABOUT NEEDING TO SERVICE THE AIRBAGS.
WHEN DRIVING MY STEERING WHEEL WOULD BECOME HARD TO TURN AS IF I DON'T HAVE ANY POWER STEERING FLUID WHILE DRIVING THE CAR... AND THE ODOMETER WILL STOP WORKING AND THEN GO UP AND DOWN MY DRIVE CONTROL LIGHTS WILL STOP WORKING AND BELOW WHERE THE ODOMETER IS THE NUMBERS WILL TURN INTO SAYING ERROR THEN MY CAR WILL NOT CRANK PLEASE HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM
TAKATA RECALL. MY RADIO STARTED DISPLAYING A SERVICE AIR BAG MESSAGE AND MY HORN STOPPED WORKING. THE WIRING IN THE CAR HAS STOPPED WORKING. I BEGAN TO REPLACE LIGHTBULBS THINKING THEY WERE BLOWN BUT JUST WILL NOT WORK. HEARD THIS CAR WAS RECALLED FOR THESE EXACT PROBLEMS I AM HAVING BUT FOR SOME REASON MY CAR HAS NO RECALLS. MY STEERING WHEEL MAKES A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING VERY SHARP. SOUNDS LIKE A PIECE IS BROKEN KNOCKING AROUND
IM HAVING SERIOUS BRAKE PROBLEMS I ALMOST HAD A MAJOR CAR ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF MY THIS PROBLEM. THIS CAR BRAKES BY ITSELF SPECIALLY WHEN I SPEED UP TO 50MPH AND ABOVE. AND ALSO THE BRAKE PEDAL WONT DISENGAGE BY ITSELF WHEN BRAKING AND THE WHOLE CAR STARS SHAKING UNCONTROLABLE. AND IM AFRAID EVERYDAY MORE AND MORE THAT I MIGHT KILL MYSELF DRIVING THIS CAR BECAUSE THIS IS MY ONLY CAR I HAVE AND DRIVE EVERYWHERE I NEED TO GO SPECIALLY NOW THAT IM EXPECTING A BABY BOY I CONSTANTLY NEED CHECK UPS IN MY CLINIC I GO TOO. MOST OF MY BRAKING PROBLEMS ACCURED WHILE IM DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY BUT SOMETHING I DONT NEED TO BE ON THE FREEWAY FOR ALK THIS TO HAPPEN.

TAKATA INFLATORS PLEASE FIX MY CAR I WENT TO THE LOCAL AUTO PARTS STORE AND THEY CHECKED THE SYSTEM FOR ME AND ALL THESE PROBLEMS PLUS MORE HAVE POPPED UP AND THEY'RE ALL ON THE RECALL LIST
THE STEERING ASSIST STOPS WORKING INTERMITTENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. I AM AN ELDERLY PERSON AND IT MAKES IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AT TIMES. IT DOESN'T NORMALLY DO IT WHEN GOING OVER 35 MPH. WHEN IT IS COLD OUTSIDE IT SEEMS TO DO IT MORE. I MAY JUST NOTICE IT MORE IN THE COLD BECAUSE I DRIVE SLOWER IN THE BAD WEATHER.
ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY, 8, 2019 MY 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU, VIN [XXX] HAD TO BE TOWED OFF OF THE ROAD AND HOME BECAUSE THE FRONT BRAKES WERE LOCKING AND THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING FROM THE SAME ORIGINAL LOCATION. ON SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10, 2019 THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE SOUTH CHARLOTTE CHEVROLET, THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. ON MONDAY, FEBRUARY 11, 2019 KB FROM SOUTH CHARLOTTE CHEVROLET INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT CALIPERS, BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I EXPLAINED THAT THE WORK WAS DONE ONLY THREE AND A HALF MONTHS AGO BY LANCASTER MOTOR COMPANY. KB INFORMED ME THAT THE PREVIOUS TECHNICIAN AT LANCASTER MOTOR COMPANY INSTALLED THE PARTS INCORRECTLY AND AS A RESULT THE SAME PROBLEM WAS OCCURRING AND THAT I NEEDED TO CONTACT CHEVROLET/GMC REGARDING MY WARRANTY. CHEVROLET/GMC IS NOT HONORING THEIR WARRANTY AND THE FAILED ROTORS ALMOST CAUSED MY DAUGHTER TO BE IN A CAR ACCIDENT ON FEBRUARY 8, 2019. THE SAME VEHICLE WAS TAKE TO LANCASTER MOTOR COMPANY, SC FOR A FRONT BRAKE CONCERN; SMOKE AND SCREECHING ON SATURDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2018. I RECEIVED A FOLLOW UP CALL FROM THE LANCASTER MOTOR COMPANY, SC SERVICE DEPARTMENT ON OCTOBER 6, 2018 THAT THE CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN UNTIL THE BRAKES WERE REPAIRED AND THAT THEY COULD NOT RETURN IT ME BECAUSE IT WAS "UNSAFE TO DRIVE". THE TECHNICIAN; TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE KEEPING THE CAR AND THAT THEY WOULD FOLLOW UP WITH ME ON MONDAY, OCTOBER 8, 2018. DURING A DISCUSSION WITH LANCASTER MOTOR COMPANY THE WEEK OF OCTOBER 8, 2018 I WAS INFORMED BY [XXX] THAT MY FRONT CALIPERS HAD TO BE REPLACED ALONG WITH THE BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE INVOICE NUMBER [XXX] TOTALED $1114.29 FOR THE 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR TWELVE (12) MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN LOCAL DEALER WHERE IT WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER STILL FAILED AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED TRACY CHEVROLET AT (209) 835-4500 (LOCATED AT 3400 AUTO PLAZA WAY, TRACY, CA 95304) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 295,000.
I RECEIVED AN EMAIL THIS MORNING 8/1/2018 STATING MY CAR MAY HAVE RECALLS ON IT. WHEN I CLICK THE LINK, I SEE THERE ARE 10 RECALLS ON THE 2004 CHEVY MALIBU. 10! OUT OF THOSE 10, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FOR ONLY TWO! I RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT MY POWER STEERING WHICH CAME AFTER MY WHEEL LOCKED UP ON MY WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY! I CHECK THE LIST TODAY, AND MY CAR HAS HAD SEVERAL ISSUE THAT WERE LISTED: IGNITION, TRANSMISSION, BRAKES, ETC. I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THESE ISSUES. THESE NOTICES HAVE BEEN OUT SINCE 2014 AND I NEVER RECEIVED A NOTICE ABOUT THEM.

THE CONTACT TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND ON TO ALLOW THE STEERING TO RETURN TO NORMAL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AS IF THE POWER STEERING IS EMPTY WHEN I MAKE FULL WIDE TURNS. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON TO GET FULL ACCESSIBILITY TO THE STEERING WHEEL.

MY THEFT SYSTEM WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN I TURN THE KEY OFF AND TRY TO RESTART THE CAR IT WILL NOT START BACK. I HAVE TO TURN IT TO THE ON POSITION AND WAIT UNTIL THE THEFT LIGHT QUITS FLASHING WHICH IS USUALLY 10 MINUTES AND THEN RESTART THE CAR. I WAS TOLD BY A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP MECHANIC THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE IGNITION CYLINDER WHICH COST AROUND $180. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL FOR THIS.

CAR WAS RUNNING A LITTLE ROUGH GOING UP HILLS AT 106,000 MILES SO I HAD A TRANSMISSION SERVICE DONE AT AAMCO. 2 DAYS LATER THE CAR IS IN LIMP MODE BARELY MADE IT HOME COASTED. LOW RPMS HAS NO POWER AND FOR SOME REASON IT WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE NOW. GETS HIGHER RPMS AND PULLS IN NEUTRAL. BEFORE THAT THE CAR WAS FINE BESIDE A SUSPENSION/ SHOCKS THAT WERE NEVER ABLE TO BE REPAIRED BY EVERY MECHANIC I WENT TO.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) AS A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO THE FAILURE, HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

IN AN ATTEMPT TO MAKE A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE FRONT DRIVER'S AIR BAG EXPLODED AND STRUCK THE DRIVER IN THE FACE. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED INJURIES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A TOW YARD. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 104,000.
I LOSE POWER STEERING ASSIST WHEN I'M DRIVING. USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED OR RANDOMLY WHILE I AM DRIVING.
THE PROBLEM STARTED AS THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD CONTINUOUSLY BOUNCE TO THE LEFT AND TO THE RIGHT, ALSO COULD BE DESCRIBED AS A WOBBLE WHEN THE CAR WOULD BE SITTING STILL. IF AND WHEN THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING, IT WOULD PULL THE CAR TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT. ON TOP OF THIS "WOBBLE" THE POWER STEERING ONLY WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO AND WILL QUIT WHILE DRIVING OR NOT BE WORKING WHEN YOU START THE CAR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE PRETENCE THAT THE CAR SHOULD FALL UNDER RECALL 14V153000 RELEASED IN 2014. HOWEVER THE DEALER AND GM DISAGREES, EVEN THOUGH THE DEALER HAS CONFIRMED THE EPS IN THE STEERING COLUMN HAS GONE BAD AND THE POWER STEERING MOTOR/MODULE IS ALSO BAD AND NEEDS REPLACED.

THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH THIS CAR FOR SOME TIME. THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS ON BY ITSELF AS WELL THE SYSTEMS MAKES THE HORN HONK WHEN OPENING OR CLOSING THE CAR DOOR. THE THEFT SYSTEM HAS MADE IT SO THAT I CANNOT START MY CAR & THIS HAS BEEN AN ON GOING PROBLEM WITH MY CAR.
