POWER STEERING HAS ISSUES. RECEIVES A POWER STEERING FAULT ON DISPLAY. STEERING WHEEL OSCILLATES AND LOCKS UP. IF THE COMPONENT FAILS COMPLETELY POWER STEERING CONTROL WILL BE LOST. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS YEAR MAKE MODEL OF VEHICLE. TORQUE SENSOR FAILURE RECALLS EXIST. BEING TOLD THAT THIS KNOWN PROBLEM IS NOT COVERED FOR REPAIR.
ELECTRONIC STEERING FAILURE ON RECAL REPLACEMENT PART, IN 2014 REPLACED UNDER RECALL STEERING COLUMN AND MODULE. 3 YEARS LATER FAILED AGAIN. REPLACEMENT PARTS APPEAR DEFECTIVE NOT TO FIX THE PROBLEM. REPLACED AT DEALERSHIP INDICATED RECAL REPLACED ONCE, NOW IS OWNERS RESPONSIBILTY TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE PARTS.
MY CHECK GAS CAP KEEPS COMING ON N MY CAR IS LEAKING GAS FROM THE FUEL PRESSURE LINE N UPON DOING SOME RESEARCH I HAVE FOUND THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME ISSUE SO I CHECKED FOR A RECALL ON THE CAR WHICH IT SEEMS TO ME IT SHOULD HAVE ONE BUT DOES'NT IT'S CLEARLY A FACTOR DEFECT IF ALOT OF PEOPLE ARE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE IT LEAKS WHEN THE KEY IS ON I WON'T DRIVE IT FOR TWO REASONS ONE WHO CAN AFFORD TO HAVE THEIR GAS LEAKING AND TWO I'M AFFRAID IT COULD BLOW-UP WHILE DRIVING IT. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR A MONTH AGO SO REALLY DON'T KNOW WHEN THE ISSUE ACTUALLY BEGAN.
RECALL #14116 WAS IN ON 04/13/15 TO HAVE THE RECALL CORRECTED AND IT WAS AT THAT TIME, BUT NOW THE PROBLEM IS RECURRING. WHEN CAR IS IN MOTION ANY WHERE WHEN YOU ACCELERATE THE POWER STEERING ON THE CAR LOSES ELECTRONIC ASSIST CAUSING THE STEERING TO BE EXCESSIVELY HARD.
WHILE DRIVING THE LIGHTS WENT DIM AND THE STEERING WAS HARD, THE INFORMATION PANEL ON THE CAR SAID "POWER STEERING", THE CAR FINALLY STOPPED RUNNING AND HAD TO JUMP START THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED FIVE TIMES NOW. GM SAYS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS BUT I NOTICED SEVERAL RECALLS SIMILAR TO THIS AND WITH A LIFETIME SERVICE TO REPLACE THE ELECTRIC ASSIST
MY POWER STREEING KEEPS GOING OUT AND THE STREEING WHEEL SHAKE BY ITSELF WHILE IM DRVINGI HAVE TO TURN THE CAR OFF OS THE POWER STREEING TO GO BACK ON. WHEN I BACK UP OUT OF A PARKING SPACE OR ANYWHERE REALLY MY STREEING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND SHOOTS TO THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. THERE IS AN EX WARRANTY FOR THE 2005 CHEVY MALIBU FOR THE EXACT SAME PART THE PART ARE THE SAME. POWER STREEING ASST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME LOOSE AND MADE A CLUNKING AND RATTLING NOISE. WHILE DRIVING OVER A BUMP AND MAKING TURNS, THE STEERING WHEEL RATTLED AND FELT VERY LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION AND INTERMEDIATE SHAFT FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A GM DEALER. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
I BOUGHT THE CAR LAST APRIL 2016. SHORTLY AFTER MY CRUISE CONTROL WAS HARD TO TURN ON, HAD TO KEEP HITTING THE BUTTON. SO THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS THE SWITCH AND REPLACED IT FREE OF CHARGE. NOW IT'S AUG 2017 AND THE CRUISE CONTROL SOMETIMES TURNS ON AND WHEN IT DOES IT ONLY STAYS ON MAYBE 10 MIN OR LESS AND THEN KILLS ON ITS OWN! THE SPEED DROPS QUICKLY AND THIS IS UNEXPECTED AND CAN BE DANGEROUS. THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I SPECIFICALLY BOUGHT A CAR WITH CRUISE CONTROL, I LOVE IT, NEED IT AND USE IT REGULARY.

POWER STEERING REPEATEDLY GOES OUT WHILE DRIVING. BLINKERS ONLY WORK SOMETIMES. CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT ENGAGE. I LOST POWER STEERING GOING DOWN A BUSY HIGHWAY.
FUEL PUMP RECALL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHEN THE CONTACT REACHED HIS DESTINATION, THE VEHICLE WAS PLACED IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION, BUT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE CONTACT HAD TO MOVE THE KEY IN AN UP AND DOWN, SIDE TO SIDE MOTION FOR SEVERAL MINUTES IN ORDER TO REMOVE IT FROM THE IGNITION. THE IGNITION FAILURE OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE JUNE OF 2017. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A NEW KEY, WHICH WORKED FOR A FEW MONTHS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO MECHANIC AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPAIRED AT THE CHEVROLET DEALER BECAUSE SPECIFIC TOOLS NEEDED TO BE USED. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY CAR HAD A RECALL FOR THE ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST AFTER FULFILLING THE RECALL I STARTED HAVING POWER STEERING PROBLEMS LOSS OF STEERING AIRBAG LIGHT COMING ON AND THE POWER STEERING COMING ACROSS THE CAR MESSAGE CENTER. I WENT TO TURN THE WHEEL IT TURNED THEN WHEN I TURNED THE WHEEL AGAIN THE CAR LOST STEERING AND I ALMOST HAD A CRASH. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT THE INTERNAL STEERING GEAR FAILED AND ISN'T COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY RECALL BUT IT WILL BE 1900.00 DOLLARS TO FIX IT . GM CORPORATE OFFICE TOLD ME WHAT DO I EXPECT FROM A 2004 WITH 150,000 MILES ON IT ITS OLD AND HAS EXCESSIVE MILES ON IT. I ASKED THEM WHY DONT THEY STAND BY THEIR PRODUCT THEY KEPT SAYING ITS A 2004.
I TURN MY CAR ON DRIVE GO TO GET OUT THE KEY WON'T COME OUT SOMETIMES IT DOES AND MOST TIME IS DOESN'T. I TRY TURN THE CAR BACK ON PUTTING THE CAR IN DRIVE THEN PARK AND TURNING THE KEY TO OFF POSITION AND THE CAR STILL DOESN'T GO INTO THE PARK POSITION SO THE KEY DOESN'T GO INTO OFF POSITION TO TAKE KEY OUT. THE CAR STAYS ON WITHOUT THE IGNITION BEING ON. THE CAR IS STATIONARY BUT THE CAR WON'T GO INTO PARK TO TURN THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF. SPOKE TO GM PROBLEM WITH TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE BUT THEY WON'T HELP ME. THE KEEP SAYING THERE IS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS GM'S RECALL 14152. PLEASE HELP. THANK YOU!
THE VEHICLE CONTINUALLY GOES INTO "ENGINE LOW POWER MODE" WHILE ON THE HIGHWAYS. THIS IS NOW OCCURRING DAILY. I'VE TRIED TO GET IT FIXED BUT NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT IT IS. I AM VERY FORTUNATE THAT NO ONE HAS HIT ME WHEN THE VEHICLE GOES FROM HIGH SPEEDS DOWN TO 20 MILES PER HOUR WITH NO RESPONSE BY PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL. THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE THINGS FAILING ON THIS CAR: PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW NO LONGER OPENS, CRUISE CONTROL WILL NOT WORK, 2 OF THE 3 CHARGERS IN THE CAR DO NOT WORK (AFTER FIXING THOSE FUSES, THEY JUST BLEW IMMEDIATELY) POWER LOCKS WENT FROM BARELY WORKING TO NOT WORKING AT ALL, THE LATEST BEING THE LOW POWER MODE AND TRACTION CONTROL BEING ACTIVATED IN THE HEAT OF A TENNESSEE SPRING (ALREADY 80 DEGREES) - IT'S NOT A WATER ISSUE. THE FIRST FEW MONTHS I HAD THIS CAR IT WAS IN THE SHOP ALMOST EVERY WEEKEND. I'VE GOTTEN ALL THE RECALLS FIXED WHEN THEY REQUIRED IT AND I KEEP UP WITH MAINTENANCE ON THIS CAR. IT HAS THE USUAL BREAK DOWNS BUT THIS IS THE LEAST SAFE CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN (AND I HAVE DRIVEN AROUND TWENTY LONG TERM, TEN MORE SHORT TERM).
WHEN I WENT TO MAKE A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE THIS POPPING NOISE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT TURN. THE STEERING WHEEL SPINS COMPLETELY AROUND AND DOES NOT TURN EITHER OF THE WHEELS. NO WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON MY DASH. THE CAR HAD A COMPLETE LOSS OF STEERING LEFT AND RIGHT. VERY DANGEROUS AND I CAUSED TOTAL CHAOS ON THE STREET JUST TRYING NOT TO HIT SOMEONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE AND POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE STEERING WHEEL REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE IN ORDER TO MAKE A TURN. WHEN THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT RESUMED NORMAL OPERATION. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO WORK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALLS WERE EXPIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE THEY ESTIMATED THAT THE DIAGNOSTIC CHECK WOULD COST $114. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 166,000.
MY MALIBU WOULD LOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. IF I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND STARTED IT BACK UP, THE POWER STEERING WOULD BE BACK. I THEN GOT A RECALL NOTICE ABOUT THE ISSUE SO I TOOK IT IN. THE POWER STEERING WORKED FOR A COUPLE YEARS THEN SUDDENLY WENT OUT COMPLETELY. I CAN NOW NO LONGER GET THE ISSUE FIXED. IT'S WORSE THAN IT WAS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT OPTIONS I HAVE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PARK THE VEHICLE AT 1 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE STEERING WHEEL ALSO BECAME VERY LOOSE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT FAILED, BUT THE MECHANIC DID NOT SPECIFY WHETHER THE PART WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM GENERAL MOTORS EXPLAINING THEY KNEW ISSUES WITH THE RACK AND PINION FOR MY 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU DURING THE FIRST 150,000 MILES OF THE VEHICLE AT NO CHARGE. IT ALSO STATES IF I PAID FOR REPAIRS I WOULD GET REIMBURSED FOR THIS. CURRENTLY I HAVE 48,857 MILES. MY STEERING COLUMN WENT OUT OF CONTROL WHILE I WAS IN MOTION. I HAD THE RACK AND PINION AND OUTER TIE ROD REPLACED ON MY VEHICLE ON (4/4/17). I CALLED GM ON 4/11/17. IN THE MORNING, THEY SAID I WOULD GET RE-IMBURSED. IN THE AFTERNOON I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL STATING I WOULD NOT GET RE-IMBURSED. I BELIEVE THERE ARE CURRENTLY 12 RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE. I WOULD LIKE THIS MATTER OF THE RACK AND PINION ISSUE BE LOOKED AT FURTHER BY THE SAFETY BOARD TO IMPOSE A SAFETY RECALL. IF IT HAPPENED TO MY CAR, IT MAY HAPPEN TO OTHER GM CARS.
MY AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED EVEN THOUGH I REPLACED THE AIRBAGS. MY BREAK LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT ME PUSHING THE BREAKS. MY CAR FOR SOME REASON WON'T COME OUT OF PARK AT TIMES. IT'S LIKE IT DOESN'T KNOW THAT'S IT'S IN PARK. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR USED. I LOOKED UP RECALLS ON MY TYPE OF CAR AND THERE ARE RECALLS THAT MATCH THE DESCRIPTION I'M SAYING BUT WHEN I PUT IN MY VIN NUMBER IT SAYS I HAVE 0 WITH MY CAR. I'M WONDERING IF I DO HAVE RECALLS ON IT BUT NONE THAT HAVE BEEN REPORTED YET. EVEN IN PARK MY CARS BREAK LIGHTS WILL BE ILLUMINATED AND I CAN NOT PULL IT OUT OF PARK. ALSO FUSES BURN OUT IN MY CAR LIKE A CIRCUIT PROBLEMS. IF I TURN MY CAR OFF AND THEN ON TO SEE IF IT REGISTERS THAT IT'S IN PARK AT TIMES MY CAR WILL MAKE A STALLING SOUND LIKE IT'S NOT GETTING GAS OR SOMETHING TO RESTART THE CAR. I WOULD CLICK MORE ON AFFECTED PARTS BUT ONLY ALLOWS 3.
"TAKATA RECALL" THERE IS ALOT OF COMPLETION OF THE FUEL GAGE READING WRONG AFTER U FILL THE TANK UP. I WILL FILL UP ON GAS AND MY GAGA WILL READ EMPTY AND WILL TELL ME LOW FUEL. THIS WILL GO AND FIX IT SELF AFTER IT RUN FOR ABOUT 20 MILES. ONLY HAPPENS AFTER I FILL IT UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, ANOTHER VEHICLE SPED INTO THE CONTACT'S LANE AND CRASHED INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT WAS SHAKEN UP, BUT WAS UNINJURED. THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS DAMAGED, BUT DRIVABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
DUE TO THE PASSLOCK SENSOR INSIDE THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER CASE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WILL STALL AT ANY MOMENT AND ANYWHERE, WHICH MAKES MORE LIKELY TO BE INVOLVED IN A WRECK BECAUSE OF THIS. GM STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING WAS DUE TO THE KEY COMING OUT FROM THE IGNITION CYLINDER. GM ADDED WEIGHT TO THE PLASTIC PORTION OF THE KEY AS A SOLUTION TO THE PROBLEM BUT THE REAL PROBLEM FOR THE VEHICLE TO STALL IS NOT THAT, IT IS DUE TO THE FAILURE OF THE PASSLOCK SENSOR.
I PURCHASED MY USED 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU NOVEMBER 23, 2016, THE DAY BEFORE CHRISTMAS. I WAS IN MOTION MERGING INTO PHILADELPHIA'S SCHUYKILL EXP WHEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED IN PLACE FOR 2-3 SECONDS AS I WAS GOING OVER 55 MPH ON A SLIGHT TURN. I REMEMBER THE WRENCH LIGHTING UP IN THE TOP LEFT CORNER OF THE DASHBOARD AND READING 'POWER STEERING' MESSAGE ON MY THE SCREEN. THE STEERING WHEEL STIFFENS AS IF YOU HAVE THAT CAR THAT RUNS OUT OF STEERING FLUID. ANOTHER INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE IN MOTION, WHEN I WAS COMING DOWN PHILADELPHIA PIKE MERGING ON THE I-95 SOUTH. AGAIN, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS FOR A FEW SECONDS, READS POWER STEERING ON THE SCREEN WITH THE ORANGE WRENCH IN THE BOTTOM LEFT CORNER OF THE DASHBOARD. IT'S FRIGHTENING BECAUSE MY CAR COULD GO IN ANOTHER LANE AND HIT AN INCOMING CAR, OR VICE VERSA. THE FIRST TIME I COULDN'T PULL OVER TO RECOOPERATE BECAUSE THERE ARE NO SHOULDER LANES. I'M STILL HAVING THIS ISSUE AND IT HAS BEEN TWO YEARS. EVEN WHEN I AM PARALLEL PARKED SOMETIMES, MY STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENS AND I CAN'T FULLY TURN THE WHEEL. WHEN I CALLED CHEVROLET THE FIRST TIME, THE REPRESENTATIVE ASSURED ME THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS SHOWN FOR MY VIN NUMBER. I WAS DIRECTED TO GO TO CHEVY AND TOLD ME IT WAS A STEERING COLUMN ISSUE. THE COST AND LABOR ITSELF IS STEEP. I CALL TO FOLLLOW UP AND THEY BASICALLY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS OUT OF THE TIME FRAME FOR THE WARRANTY WHICH DOESN'T MAKE SENSE BECAUSE NO MANUFACTURER EXPECTS TO RECALL TO HAPPEN.. AND PAYING FOR THAT REPAIR IS NOT EVEN A GUARANTEE THAT IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE BASED ON THE OTHER COMPLAINTS.
THE POWER STEERING ON MY CAR IS FAILING. IT DOES NOT WORK AT LOW SPEEDS AND REVERTS TO MANUAL MODE. IT APPEARS THERE IS A RECALL ON CERTAIN 04-06 MALIBU'S, JUST NOT MINE. ANY CHANCE THE RECALL WILL BE EXPANDED?
STEERING WHEEL HAS NUMEROUS PROBLEMS. HAD A KNOCKING NOISE SINCE I BROUGHT 3 YEARS AGO. STEERING WHEEL TIGHTENS UP AND VERY HARD TO TURN AND TIGHTENS MORE WHILE TRYING TO MAKE TURNS AT SLOW SPEEDS . NOW HAPPENING SOME TIMES WHEN I PUT INTO REVERSE. BEEN TRYING TO TEACH MY SON HOW TO DRIVE AND WHEEL TO TIGHT FOR HIM TO PRACTICE TURNS. A FEW WEEKS AGO HE ALMOST RAN INTO A BUSH WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP SIGN BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULDN'T TURN. HAD HIM PUT THE CAR IN PARK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET WHILE ON COMING CARS HAD TO STOP AND WAIT FOR US TO SWITCH DRIVERS. GETTING WORSE/TIGHTER OVER TIME. IF THE WHEEL IS SLIGHTLY TURNED AND I PUT IN DRIVE THE CAR JUMPS AHEAD WITH NO CONTROL OVER THE STEERING. ALREADY TOOK IN FOR RECALL'S FOR POWER STEERING SO WHEN I CALLED WAS TOLD ALL MY RECALLS HAD BEEN DONE AND EXPIRED. LAST FEW DAYS THE WHEEL IS SHAKING THE CLOSER I DRIVE TO 55 MPH. CLEARLY THE STEERING HAS ISSUES THAT SEEMS TO BE A CONTINUOUS PROBLEM AND GM NOT WILLING TO MAKE RIGHT. A DRIVING HAZARD! *TR

THIS CREATES A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION. MANUFACTURER AND DEALER REFUSED TO PERFORM ANY FURTHER REPAIRS AT THEIR EXPENSE, CLAIMING THERE WAS A ONE YEAR WARRANTY ON THE REPAIR. HOWEVER, THEIR REMEDY FOR THIS SAFETY DEFECT DIDN'T FIX THE ORIGINAL PROBLEM AND IT CONTINUES TO HAPPEN.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 153,000.

COMPLETE STEERING FAILURE. STEERING HAS MADE "CLUNKING" SOUNDS FOR YEARS (SINCE ABOUT 1 YEAR AFTER NEW), AND HAS BEEN "REPAIRED" SEVERAL TIMES PREVIOUSLY, ONLY ONCE UNDER WARRANTY. ACTION: SUDDENLY, WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN "RATCHETING" WHEN MAKING A TURN, AND THE WHEELS WOULD NOT RESPOND TO THE DIRECTION OF THE STEERING WHEEL. DID NOT CAUSE ACCIDENT, BUT BADLY FRIGHTENED THE DRIVER. REPAIR REQUIRED REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK & PINION ASSEMBLY PLUS THE STEERING SHAFT (RUSTY) FOR A TOTAL COST OF $1,300 (INCLUDING $100 "FEE" IMPOSED BY GM TO BE ABLE TO KEEP THE FAILED PARTS). THE FAILED PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR EXAMINATION BY NHTSA IF NEEDED.

MY MALIBU MAXX 2004 WAS BOUGHT NEW. IT HAS THE POWER STEERING ISSUE EVER SINCE IT WAS NEW. UNDER ACCELERATION ON HIGHWAYS (E.G. DRIVING UPHILL IN MOUNTAINS ETC. ) WHEN STEERING LEFT AROUND A CURVE, THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP AND JERKS, AND DASH LIGHTS FLASH FOR A FEW SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED EVER SINCE IT WAS NEW. THE ISSUE CAN'T BE REPRODUCED BY DEALERSHIP AND AUTO REPAIR STORES. GM HAS A RECALL IN 2014 REGARDING POWER STEERING BUT THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED, THE ISSUE IS LIFE THREATENING!!

MY CAR WAS RECALLED FOR A TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE PROBLEM. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER IN FEBRUARY OF 2015 AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT PER THE RECALL. ON MARC 27TH 2016 THE SHIFT CABLE CAME OFF OF THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT LEVER AND I COULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF DRIVE. I TURNED THE MOTOR OFF AND NOW THE CAR STARTED ROLLING BACKWARDS DUE TO THE INCLINE I HAD STOPPED ON. SINCE THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE I WAS UNABLE TO START THE CAR. THE BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE BECAUSE THE MOTOR WAS NOT RUNNING. THIS ACTUALLY HAPPENED IN MY GARAGE SO I HAD MY WIFE PUT A SCRAP OF WOOD BEHIND THE TIRE SO IT WOULD NOT ROLL OUT INTO THE STREET. I CONTACTED THE DEALER THAT DID THE RECALL WORK AND WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL SERVICE WAS ONLY WARANTEED FOR 1 YEAR. I AM HAVING DIFFICULTY UNDERSTANDING THAT THE ORIGINAL RECALLED PART LASTED FOR 11 YEARS AND THE REPLACEMENT PART ONLY LASTED FOR 13 MONTHS. SINCE THIS WAS A RECALLED ITEM WHY ISN'T IT REPAIRED BY THE DEALER UNDER THE ORIGINAL RECALL BULLETIN? ONCE A RECALL ALWAYS A RECALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!
IMMEDIATELY AFTER PURCHASING MY 2004 CHEVY MALIBU (USED FROM A DEALER) I NOTICED THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULDN'T ENGAGE MOST OF THE TIME. THE LIGHT ON THE BUTTON TURNS ON (YELLOW), BUT THE CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T SET OR ENGAGE. NOW IT RARELY WORKS.
HAD BEEN NOTICING PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING SAG IN SEAT OVER PAST WEEK. GOT IN CAR THIS EVENING AND FELT SEAT KIND OF POP. SEAT NOW SAGS TO BACK AND TO RIGHT. FOUND BROKEN BRACKET ON RIGHT FRONT OF DRIVER SEAT FRAME; PARTLY BROKEN WELD AND PARTLY "RIPPED" METAL.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME IS BROKEN. THE ADJUSTER ONLY RAISES THE LEFT SIDE. IN SPEAKING WITH OTHER MALIBU OWNERS, THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN BOTH THE SEDAN AND MAXX VERSIONS OF THIS VEHICLE.
