TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING SHAFTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WOULD INTERMITTENTLY FAIL WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 140,000. AFTER STARTING THE CAR LATE AT NIGHT LEAVING A FRIENDS HOUSE, WAS IN THE ACT OF PULLING OUT INTO THE STREET WHEN THE STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN, AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I WAS STUCK OUT INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD UNTIL I TURNED OFF THE CAR AND TURNED IT BACK ON TO REST THE SYSTEMS. IF IT WAS EARLIER IN THE DAY I VERY MUCH BELIEVE WE COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED BY ANOTHER CAR. I HAVE HAD IT DO IT TO ME BEFORE FOR JUST A COUPLE OF SECONDS THE IT WAS FINE. IM GETTING VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR

AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTING IT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE DEFECT RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR WAS THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TODAY AFTER DROPPING MY SON OFF AT SCHOOL, MY 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU 3.5 V6 BECAME NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. IT FELT LIKE THE CAR HAD 2 FLAT TIRES IN THE FRONT. WITH GREAT STRUGGLE I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE ROAD AND AVOID CRASHING. HAD I NOT BEEN STRONG ENOUGH TO TURN THE CAR OTHERS COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS WAS A NEAR MISS. AFTER HAVING THE PROBLEM THIS MORNING, I DISCOVERED THAT GM ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE RECALL ID IS 102634. GM HAS NOT IMPLEMENTED THE RECALL EVEN THOUGH THEY ISSUED A PRESS RELEASE ON THE PROBLEM ON 3-31-14. I HAVE SPENT THE LAST 5 HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH 2 CHEVROLET DEALERS AND GM TRYING TO FIND A SOLUTION SINCE "THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT LOADED MY VIN INTO THEIR SYSTEM." PEOPLE ARE BEING INJURED AND LIKELY DYING BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. *TR
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MANY TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2006, I WOULD DRIVE TO A LOCATION SHUT THE CAR OFF COME BACK OUT (DOSE NOT MATTER HOW LONG OF A TIME I WOULD BE WHERE IM AT) TRY TO START THE CAR, IT STARTS AND THEN DIES, THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS MORE THE ONCE IN A ROW, BY THE SECOND AND THIRD TRY IT WOULD START AND BE FINE AFTER THAT. THE LAST TIME IT DID IT AT AN INTERSECTION, THE CAR SHUT OFF WHILE IDLING, IT TOOK A FEW SECONDS TO START IT BACK UP. DURING THIS TIME I ALMOST GOT HIT TWICE BY DIFFERENT CAR. I HAVE HAD THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CHECKED AND EVERYTHING IS WHERE IT NEEDS TO BE. I SAW A RECALL FOR MALIBU'S ABOUT THERE FUEL SYSTEMS. IM WONDERING IF THE MAXX TYPE IS PART OF THAT PROBLEM AS WELL. *TR
MY BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON THIS MORNING AND I CAME HOME FROM LUNCH TRIED MAKING A LEFT TURN ONTO A STREET AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED ON ME. I COULDN'T TURN MY CAR, NOW MY CAR WON'T EVEN START. I BARELY MADE IT HOME, THANK GOD BECAUSE I ALMOST CRASHED INTO MY NEIGHBORS HOUSE FROM MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKING. *TR
WHEN I APPLY MY BRAKES TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN MY BRAKES SEEM TO GO OUT OR NOT WORK INTERMITTENTLY. MY HUSBAND THINKS IT HAS TO DO WITH THE ABS. THIS HAS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT THE VEHICLES IN FRONT OF ME SO I MUST LEAVE A RATHER LARGE STOPPING DISTANCE BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE FRONT CAR WHICH IS FINE BUT WHEN I MUST MAKE A QUICK STOP TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT MY BRAKES CUT OUT. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU EXPERIENCING POWER STEERING PROBLEMS, ABS AND SHIFT CABLE, ALL REPLACED. *CW THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP SEVEN TIMES, DUE TO POWER STEERING FAILURE, WHICH RESULTED IN THE STEERING LOCKING UP. THE CONSUMER WAS INVOLVED IN TWO ACCIDENTS, IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A TRANSMISSION, STEERING AND BRAKE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. *JB
I HAD MY KEY STUCK IN ACCESSORY THE IGNITION SO MY CAR BATTERY WOULD RUN DEAD. I WAS TOLD I MIGHT NEED A IGNITION CYLINDER FOR MY VEHICLE BUT LOOKING ON THE INTERNET I SEE THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED A FIX THAT THE MANUFACTURE TO PAY FOR A KNOWN PROBLEM. TO GET THIS REPLACED IS ALMOST $900.00. *TR
2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE POWER STEERING ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE POWER STEERING LOSS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. HE WAS INFORMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, AND THE BEST THING TO DO, WAS TO SELL IT, OR GIVE IT TO A JUNK YARD, AS THE COST TO REPAIR IT, EXCEEDED THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONSUMER RECEIVED A SECOND OPINION, AND IT WAS DETERMINED THERE WERE NO LEAKS AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. A FEW WEEKS PRIOR, THE INNER AND OUTER RODS WERE REPLACED.*JB
WHILE THE CAR WAS TURNING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY SOMETHING BROKE INSIDE THE RACK AND PINION. THIS LEFT THE CAR WITH NO STEERING. I THINK IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE CARS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, PEOPLE COULD GET HURT OR WORSE. *TR
I SAT DOWN IN THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT AND HEARD A LOUD SNAP. THE SEAT IMMEDIATELY DROPPED DOWN AND TO THE RIGHT. THE WELD ON THE SEAT FRAME JUST SNAPPED CAUSING THE POWER SEAT FUNCTIONS TO NO LONGER WORK. SINCE THE SEAT WAS MOVED AS FAR BACK AS POSSIBLE AT THE TIME THE FRAME BROKE, THE BOLTS THAT REMOVE THE SEAT FROM THE VEHICLE ARE COMPLETELY COVERED AND NOT ACCESSIBLE. I AM STUCK WITH DRIVING A BROKEN/ UNSAFE/ UNMOVABLE SEAT OR PAYING OVER $1000 AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS FIXED. BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY ISSUE I WOULD BE WILLING TO SPEND THE MONEY AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR A NEW SEAT BUT I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO FAITH THAT THE NEW SEAT WILL WORK FOR LONG, ESPECIALLY AFTER READING ABOUT SOME PEOPLE HAVING THEIR SEAT REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP MULTIPLE TIMES (SPENDING OVER $2000 TOTAL) AND THEY'RE STILL DRIVING AROUND ON A BROKEN SEAT. WHEN ARE WE GETTING A RECALL?? THE POSTS DESCRIBING THIS ISSUE GO ALL THE WAY BACK TO 2005 AND IT SEEMS THAT GM JUST DOESN'T CARE. *TT
UPON RAISING MY POWER SEAT SOMETHING BROKE. THE MOTOR IS REALLY LOUD AND WHEN IT WENT UP THE LEFT SIDE DID NOT GO UP RIGHT AND THE SEAT LEANS TO THE RIGHT INTO THE CENTER CONSOLE, DOESNT FEEL AS THOUGH I HAVE ANY SUPPORT UNDER RIGHT SIDE OF SEAT. I AM SHORT AND I NEED TO SIT UP TO SEE OVER THE STEERING WHEEL AND I NOW CANNOT. SEAT BELT IS CONNECTED TO SEAT FRAME AND IF IM IN AN ACCIDENT I FEEL THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT HELP. SINCE 1/2012, INTERMITTENT MALFUNCTION OF POWER STEERING AND ENGINE OPERATION AT HIGHWAY/STREET SPEEDS OCCURS. VEHICLE SINCE HAS BEEN INSPECTED FOR INCIDENTS BY CERTIFIED DEALERS/AUTO REPAIR SHOPS. PROBLEM CONTINUES FORCING THE DRIVER TO VEER OFF THE ROAD WITHOUT STEERING AND/OR POWER, PUTTING THE DRIVER AND ANYONE IN THE PATH AT RISK OF INJURY/DEATH. MY RESEARCH DUE TO THE MOST CURRENT INCIDENT LED ME TO INFORMATION RELEASED FROM THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION DATED APRIL 1, 2014 STATING THAT 1,340,447 CARS AFFECTED WITH THIS PROBLEM. NHTSA CAMPAIGN # 14V153000, GM RECALL #:N140115. GM KNEW THIS INFORMATION. ON 4/23/14 I SUBMITTED A COMPLAINT TO THE NHTSA, AND GM. 2 GM EMPLOYEES DENIED THE RECALL/SERVICES, YET EVENTUALLY ADMITTED THAT THEY KNEW ABOUT THE RECALL WHICH WOULD BE MADE PUBLIC 4/28/14, YET NOTICES TO VEHICLE OWNERS WILL GO OUT AFTER 4/28/14. GM CONTINUES THE PRACTICE OF NOT INFORMING THE PUBLIC. *TR
DRIVER SEATS TILTS TO THE RIGHT AND CAN NOT ADJUST FORWARD OR BACKWARD. HAD IT REPAIRED AT MY LOCAL MECHANIC (RE-WELD) AT A COST OF $214.00. NOW IT IS BROKEN AGAIN. *JS
MY 2004 CHEVY MALIBU SKIPPING WHERE THE BRAKES ARE STICKING AT 65 MILES AND WHEN I LET OFF THE GAS IT SLOW DOWN FAST AND THAT UNSAFE TO HAVE MY DISK BRAKES CHANGED AND NEW CALIPER ON BOTH SIDES AND IT'S STILL MAKING A GRINDING NOISE THEIR SMOKING/ REALLY HOT ON THE DRIVER SIDE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A LOUD NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,517. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
HAD DRIVEN CAR WITH NO ISSUES PREVIOUS. HAD PARKED CAR IN PARKING LOT. ABOUT 30 MINUTES LATER WENT TO START THE CAR AND IMMEDIATELY THE SERVICE WRENCH LIGHT CAME ON AND NOTICED THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. AFTER A MINUTE OR SO, TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN TURNED IT BACK ON. WRENCH LIGHT WAS OFF AND THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING, BUT NOW WHEN APPLYING A SLIGHT RIGHT TURN MOTION ON THE STEERING WHEEL, THE WHEEL SHAKES/CHATTERS/BOUNCES. THIS HAPPENS EITHER IN GEAR OR NOT. IT DOES NOT DO THIS WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL LEFT OR WHEN APPLYING INCREASED PRESSURE TURNING RIGHT. IT SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE AND WONDERING IF THIS HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE UPCOMING POWER STEERING RECALL. *TR
WHILE SHIFTING FROM PARK TO REVERSE TO BACK OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY THE SHIFT HANDLE POPPED UP AND IS NO LONGER ATTACHED COMPLETELY TO THE SHIFT LEVER. I HAVE TO PUSH DOWN ON THE HANDLE WHILE PUSHING IN THE BUTTON TO SHIFT OR ELSE THE HANDLE POPS UP AND I AM NOT ABLE TO SHIFT. *TR

THE CONTACT MERGED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHERE THE TRANSITION FAILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ONCE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000.
THE STEERING HAS GONE OUT TWICE ON ME NOW. SO I DID SOME RESEARCH AND IT SHOWS THERE IS A RECALL FOR STEERING PARTS BUT NOT FOR MY VIN # OF MY MALIBU? WHAT IS THE DEAL? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE POWER STEERING STOP WORKING AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE CONTACT REFUSED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE DRIVER'S SEAT IS BROKEN AND ROCKS TO THE REAR RIGHT. IT APPEARS THE WELD BROKE IN THE SEAT FRAME. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME THE SEAT HAS BROKEN. THE FIRST TIME, IT WAS COVERED BY WARRANTY. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS IN THE CHEVY MALIBU AND AM REQUESTING THAT GM ISSUE A RECALL. THIS IS A SIGNIFICANT SAFETY HAZARD AS THE SEAT IS NOT STABLE, ESPECIALLY DURING TURNING MANEUVERS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING THE CAR THROUGH AN INTERSECTION APPROACHING THE RAMP ONTO THE INTERSTATE. I LOST STEERING CONTROL FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS, JUST MISSING THE GUARD-RAIL AND HAVING AN ACCIDENT. THE NEXT MORNING, THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE 2004 MALIBU. I CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP FOR A LOANER CAR, ONLY TO BE TOLD THE CAR VIN NUMBER IS NOT AN APPROVED MODEL FOR THE RECALL. I NEED TO KNOW WHY IT IS NOT IF IT IS HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. I HAVE REPORTED TO THIS SITE AT LEAST TWICE ABOUT ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. *TR
A CHIMING NOISE CAME ON, THEN A LIGHT WITH A WRENCH ON IT. MY STEERING DID NOT FEEL RIGHT SO I PULLED OVER. THAT NIGHT I HEARD ABOUT MY RECALL. I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE MY CAR. ITS BEEN PARKED SINCE THEN.GM WILL NOT PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR, SO I HAD TO PAY FOR MY OWN LAST NIGHT AT $200 A WEEK. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN INTERSTATE, AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP. IT DING ABOUT 2 SECONDS BEFORE IT WENT OUT. IT WAS GOOD I WAS ON A STRAIGHT STRETCH OF THE HIGHWAY AND NOT GOING INTO A CURVE OR PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE. OR IF MY WIFE OR KIDS WERE DRIVING , IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN MAJOR INCIDENT. I WAS READING UP ON IT AFTERWARDS ON LINE, SAY CHEVROLET HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE ELECTRONIC POWERSTEERING, BUT NO RECALL WAS PERFORMED. I JUST WANT TO LET OTHER DRIVERS/OWNERS AWARE IT COULD GO OUT ANYTIME. *TR
THE DRIVERS SEAT FRAME BROKE ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX CAUSING IT TO LEAN AND TILT BACK TO THE RIGHT TOWARD THE CENTER CONSOLE. IT HAS THE 6-WAY POWER SEAT. THE 58,795 IS LESS THAN AVERAGE FOR THE AGE OF THE CAR. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE SEAT BELT ATTACHES TO THE FRAME OF THE SEAT. I FEEL THAT GM SHOULD HAVE THIS ON A RECALL TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR

POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND RINGING SOUND SOUNDED AND POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION AS I WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN. I MANAGED TO GET IT TO THE CURB AND CALL FOR HELP. AFTER SITTING A WHILE IT BECAME NORMAL, BUT I AM AFRAID THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER ABOUT THIS. MY DEALER CANNOT HELP BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS FOR 2005 MALIBU MAX ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING AND NOT THE 2004, BUT IT IS THE SAME POWER STEERING UNIT. POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING. HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN AND STEERING MOTOR. WAS RE-PLACED AT A PRIVATE MECHANIC AS I DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A RECALL. SINCE FINDING OUT CONCERNING THE RECALL I HAVE CALLED AND CALLED GM SENDS RECALL NOTICES FOR EVERYTHING EXCEPT THE CORRECT RECALL. ALL I WANT IS TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THE COST OF REPAIRING THE CAR. THEY CAN NOT SEEM TO UNDERSTAND I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE CAR REPAIRED. WHEN YOU DO GET A LETTER FOR A RECALL THEY SAY THEY KNOW THAT IT COULD BE DANGEROUS THEY ARE CONCERNED BUT THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE YET. I HAVE RECEIVED 2 RECALL LETTERS FOR THINGS HAVING NOTHING TO DO WITH MY REPAIR AND THEY SAY THE SAME THING. SO STRANGE MY MECHANIC COULD GET PARTS BUT GM CAN'T??? WHILE DRIVING AROUND A CORNER THE ENGINE SHUT OFF, THE KEY WAS NOT TURNED TO THE OFF POSITION. I WAS ABLE TO GLIDE THE CAR TO A PARKING LOT, TURNED THE KEY TO THE OFF POSITION, LET THE CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES, TURNED IT BACK ON AND CONTINUED DRIVING. *TR
SINCE AT ABOUT 110,000 MILES (CAR NOW HAS 160,000) THE THEFT SYSTEM PREVENTS ME FROM STARTING MY CAR BY DISABLING THE INJECTORS INTERMITTENTLY. I FIND THIS TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD AS DO MANY OTHERS THAT HAVE POSTED COMMENTS ONLINE. IT HAS STRANDED ME AT 1:30 IN THE MORNING IN FRONT OF CONVENIENCE STORES. NOT A SAFE PLACE TO BE STUCK. CHEVY SAYS ITS A $300-$1000 FIX BUT I HAVE READ THAT IT STILL DOES NOT FIX THE PROBLEM IN SOME INSTANCES. I'M SURPRISED THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT AGAINST GM FOR THIS. I WAS LEAVING WORK AND STARTED MY CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WAS NOT WORKING. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON MY DASH PANEL ALSO CAME ON. THIS HAPPENED IN A SEPARATE INSTANCE A COUPLE DAYS PRIOR. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND THE POWER STEERING WAS FINE. THE SECOND INSTANCE I TRIED TO RESTART THE CAR A COUPLE TIMES WITH NO CHANGE. I TOOK THE CAR HOME AND THEN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I GET MY MAINTENANCE DONE THE NEXT DAY. THEY REPLACED A POWER STEERING COMPONENT AND I PAID FOR THE CHARGES. POWER STEERING SIMPLY WENT OUT AND AT SUCH A SLOW SPEED, IT WAS VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER CAR... ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES DID GO OFF, A SECOND OR TWO BEFORE IT FAILED. NOT SURE WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY - NOT SURE I WANT TO FIND OUT. TURNED OFF THE CAR, THEN BACK ON AND STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. WENT TO CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THEY WILL NOT COVER THE COST OF REPAIR, AND WANTS AN ADDITIONAL $100 JUST TO TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG.... BOUGHT CAR ON 2-6-14. WITHIN I MONTHS TIME, SENSORS REGISTERED 4 TIMES POWER STEERING PROBLEMS. GM HAS RECALLED THIS MODEL FROM 2005 AND UP . BUT NOT THE 2004 MODELS WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS. THE KELLY BLUE BOOK STILL HOLDS THE CAR AT $5300.00. JUST WONDERING IF SOMEONE CAN HELP ME OUT OF THIS JAM. I HAVE HAD MY CAR SINCE 2011. I DIDN'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR UNTIL 2012. MY STEERING SHAFT BROKE AND IT WAS REPLACED AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. ALL WAS FINE UNTIL THIS YEAR IN MARCH, WHERE MY STEERING WAS BECOMING VERY HARD TO DO. WHEN I TURNED MY WHEEL, IT WOULD MAKE SOUNDS AS IF IT WAS BREAKING AND I NEEDED TO USE A LITTLE MORE FORCE TO TURN THE WHEEL. AS OF MAY 15, 2014, I TOOK MY CAR TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE A FAMILY MEMBER ASKED IF THEY COULD SEE IF ANY PARTS ON MY CAR WAS ON RECALL AND THERE ARE SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THE MALIBU. MY STEERING IS GETTING WORSE BY THE DAY AND MY CAR IS DRIVING HORRIBLY. I HAVE A 4 YR AND THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM WORK.
