TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL TWICE WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE TO PREVENT A CRASH. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED THE SECOND TIME, THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED AND EMITTED WHITE POWDER, WHICH IMPAIRED THE CONTACT'S VISION. THE CONTACT CRASHED THE VEHICLE INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND SHOULDER INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. UPDATED 10/08/14*LJ UPDATED 05/18/2015 *JS
I RECEIVED TWO RECALLS: 13036 AND 14116. BOTH INDICATING POTENTIAL DANGEROUS SITUATIONS IF THE AFFECTED PART MALFUNCTIONS. BOTH RECALLS INDICATED THAT WHILE GM WAS NOTIFYING ME PER THE NATIONAL TRAFFIC AND MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY ACT, THAT NEITHER ONE HAS ANY PARTS AVAILABLE. THERE IS NO ESTIMATED DATE OF AVAILABILITY FOR THESE PARTS FOR EITHER RECALL, JUST THAT WE WILL RECEIVE ANOTHER LETTER WHEN THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. I CALLED THE MY DEALER AND THE 1 (800)222-1020 CHEVROLET NUMBER AND RECEIVED THE SAME INFORMATION. SADLY, THE DEALER DID NOT HAVE ANY MORE INFORMATION THAN I DID AND DIDN'T EVEN KNOW ABOUT THE 13036 RECALL YET. THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE. GM SHOULD KNOW WHEN WE CAN EXPECT PARTS TO BE AVAILABLE AND INCLUDE THAT INFORMATION IN THE FIRST LETTER, SO WE KNOW WHEN TO EXPECT THE SECOND LETTER. ALSO, A RECALL SHOULD BE UPLOADED TO THEIR DEALERS BEFORE OR AT THE SAME TIME ONE IS SENT TO CONSUMERS SO THEY CAN BE PREPARED FOR CALLS. *TR
UPON SHUTTING CAR OFF MY CAR KEY WOULD NOT COME OUT IGNITION AFTER DANGLING THE KEY I CAME OUT BUT THE IGNITION WASN'T IN THE OFF POSITION. LM ATTEMPT TO PUT THE KEY BACK IN TO TURN IT TO OFF POSITION IT DIDN'T BUDGE. THE NEXT MORNING THE CAR WOULDN'T START I HAD TO GET A JUMP AND THEN THE FOLLOWING MORNING THE CAR WOULDN'T START I HAD TO GET A JUMP. I WENT ADVANCE AUTO PARTS AND WAS TOLD THAT BECAUSE THE CAR IS NOT IN OFF POSITION COMPLETELY ITS DRAINING MY BATTERY, I ALSO WAS INFORMED OF A RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE THAT I WASN'T AWARE OF. I WILL TAKE TO DEALERSHIP ON MONDAY. THE OTHER PROBLEMS I HAVE IS THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW AFTER LETTING DOWN WONT COME BACK UP. TURN SIGNALS NOT WORKING ONE MINUTE POP ON OTHER MINUTE. I CHECK THE FUSE BOX IT WAS FINE. *TR
WITH THE SHAKING STEERING WHEEL AND THE POWER STEERING GOING IN AND OUT MY FRONT TIRES WHERE FEELING OUT OF BALANCE SO I PULLING INTO WAL-MART AND HAD THEM LOOK AT IT. BOTH OF MY FRONT TIRES HAD BUSTED BELTS IN THEM AND MY BREAKS WERE PRETTY MUCH GONE AND THE ROTORS WERE TORN UP. THE ALIGNMENT WAS WAY OFF CAUSING THE CAR TO NOT STEER . I WAS TOLD ALL THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, HOWEVER ITS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION AND WITH SO MANY OF THESE PROBLEMS I HAVE NO MONEY TO HAVE HE PROBLEMS FIXED. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE . THERE ARE SO MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
THE SHIFT SELECTOR STOPPED SHIFTING GEARS. THOUGH THE STICK WILL SHIFT INTO PARK, THE VEHICLE WILL REMAIN IN GEAR. THIS COULD CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AWAY UNLESS IT IS TURNED OFF PRIOR TO RELEASING THE BRAKE. *JS THIS ISSUE IS DESCRIBED IN AN EXISTING GM RECALL WHICH COVERS SOME MALIBU MAXX VEHICLES MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 2003 AND 2007. OUR MAILBU MAXX WAS MANUFACTURED IN JUNE OF 2004 AND HAS THE EXACT PROBLEM PRESENTED IN THE RECALL, BUT IS APPARENTLY NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL.
THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT FELL DOWN OFF THE TRACK ON THE RIGHT SIDE. LIKE WHERE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN WELDED BETTER. *TR
FRAME ON DRIVERS SEAT FAILED WHILE ADJUSTING SEAT. SEAT NO LONGER FIRMLY ATTACHED TO FRAME, RISK OF GOING THROUGH WINDSHIELD IN FRONT END CRASH SINCE SEAT NO LONGER ATTACHED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. PRIOR TO THE CONTACT OWNING THE VEHICLE, THE DEALER INDICATED THAT A RECALL REPAIR WAS COMPLETED FOR THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE. UPON DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE GEAR FAILED TO PROPERLY SHIFT INTO PARK AND OTHER GEARS. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT COULD ONLY SHIFT INTO THE DRIVE LOW GEAR AT AN EXTREMELY LOW RATE OF SPEED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE TWICE AFTER THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPACE, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST IMMEDIATELY FAILED. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE BRAKES ON TIME AND AS A RESULT, CRASHED INTO A PARKED VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 220,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING, THE POWER STEERING FAILED AS THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING 5 TIMES IN 4 HOURS ON THURSDAY, JULY 10, 2014 AND IT IS NOW AT FAULKNER IN TREVOSE, PA WITH NO EXPECTED TIME TO RECEIVE THE NEW GM PART. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE; THEREFORE, CONTACT GM AND INSIST THAT THEY PROCEED IMMEDIATELY WITH THE MANUFACTURE OF THIS PART. THANKING YOU IN ADVANCE FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. *TR
FIRST, MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE WENT OUT (THANKFULLY IN MY DRIVEWAY WHERE NO ONE WAS HARMED) SO AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH WE DISCOVERED GM HAD A RECALL FOR THIS PART, THAT SUPPOSEDLY COVERED MY MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR. AFTER CALLING GM WITH MY VIN THEY CLAIMED MY CAR WAS NOT A PART OF THIS RECALL. THIS MAKES VERY LITTLE SENSE TO ME BECAUSE MY CAR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM THE RECALL STATED. THEY REFUSED TO COVER MY CAR. ALL WHILE THEY HAD THIS PART ON A NATIONAL HOLD, MAKING IT NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIX THEIR MISTAKE. NOW, MY CAR HAS A USED AND POSSIBLY FAULTY PART IN IT BECAUSE THEY STILL WILL NOT COVER IT. WELL NOW ABOUT A MONTH LATER I'M HAVING A HAZARD SWITCH PROBLEM WITH THE SAME CAR. COME TO FIND OUT THEY RECALLED THIS PART ON 2000-2001 MALIBUS, BUT THEY'RE ARE MANY REPORTS OF 2002-2004 MALIBUS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM THAT THEY REFUSE TO COVER. MY POINT HERE IS THAT GM CONTINUALLY MAKES MISTAKES THAT NEED FIXING, BUT PICK AND CHOOSE WHAT THEY WILL BE FIXING. BOTH OF THESE PROBLEMS COULD BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS AND COULD EASILY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS SITUATION WITH GM. *TR
UP UNTIL ALL THESE RECENT GM RECALLS CAME OUT, I HAD NEVER HAD THE NEED TO READ WHAT OTHER OWNERS HAVE BEEN COMPLAINING ABOUT. NOW I AM AMONG THOSE WHO NOW HAVE A BROKEN DRIVER'S SEAT FRAME THAT DRASTICALLY LEANS TOWARD THE CENTER CONSOLE. I AM THE SOLE DRIVER OF THIS VEHICLE, SO THE SEAT DOES NOT GET MOVED TO ACCOMMODATE OTHER DRIVERS. I WEIGH ABOUT 175#, SO MY WEIGHT SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE EITHER. SINCE THIS SEAT FRAME FAILURE HAS HAPPENED TO SO MANY OTHER MALIBU OWNERS, PERHAPS THIS SHOULD BE TREATED AS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF SLOWING DOWN FOR A RED LIGHT ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WHEN MY CAR JUST DIED. I HAD TWO KIDS IN THE CAR WITH ME. SOMETHING BAD COULD HAVE HAPPENED. GOOD THING IT THE CAR DIED AT A RED LIGHT. I WAITED A FEW MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED UP. I HAD THE CAR TESTED FOR ANY CODES AND NOTHING SHOWED FOR A REASON WHY THE CAR DID THIS. I AM WRITING THIS FOR MY DAUGHTER WHO IS AT THE END OF HER ROPE. THE SHIFT CABLE BROKE BACK IN JULY, WHEN SHE FOUND OUT THE CABLE WAS ON A RECALL SHE HAD THE CAR TOWED TO RIVERHEAD CHEVY. SHE WAS TOLD THERE ARE 3 RECALLS THEY WOULD TAKE CARE OF. AROUND MID SEPTEMBER WHEN SHE CALLED SHE TOLD THEM HER FARTHER WANTED GM'S CONSUMERS NUMBER. THE MAN THEN GAVE HER TWO NUMBERS TO CALL, WHEN TRIED TO CALL THEM I FOUND OUT THEY WERE SEX LINE NUMBERS. WHEN SHE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY WERE SORRY. THIS IS NOT THE WAY A DEALERSHIP SHOULD RUN A BUSINESS ! NOW IN THE MEANTIME I HAD TO HELP HER BUY ANOTHER CAR SO SHE COULD GET BACK AND FORTH FOR WORK (SHE IS A SINGLE MOM NOT LIVING AT HOME). BACK IN SEPT. SHE WAS TOLD THE PARTS WOULD BE IN AROUND LATE OCT. NOW SHE WAS TOLD NOT UNTIL AFTER DEC. THIS HAS GONE ON FOR 5 MONTHS WITH COUNTLESS PHONE CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GM HOT LINE, HOW AND WHY IS GM ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH THIS. I AM A MECHANIC AND HAD A REPAIR SHOP FOR MORE THEN TEN YEARS. I WOULD HAVE BEEN IN COURT A LONG TIME AGO IF I TRIED TO DO THIS. ON DEC. 26 WE RECEIVED THIS RECALL #14V224 AFTER SITTING IN A PARKING LOT FOR 5 MONTHS HOW GOOD WILL THE OIL, BATTERY, TIRES, AND GAS BE? *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE ANTI-THEFT WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLED WHEN IT WAS SUCCESSFULLY STARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE PASS LOCK SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
FIRST OF ALL IM WAITING ON PARTS FOR TWO RECALLS FOR MY 2004 CHEVY MALIBU. I FIND IT A LITTLE DANGEROUS AND FOR SOME REASON NOBODY HAS BEEN ABLE TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT I NEED TO DO OR HAVE NO IDEA WHEN THE PARTS ARE GOING TO BE AVAILABLE. MY SEAT ON THE DRIVER SIDE FEELS LIKE IT IS DETACHED ON ONE SIDE. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER PEOPLE. MY CAR RANDOMLY DECIDES TO ACCELERATE SOMETIMES. I CANNOT GIVE YOU MILEAGE OR TELL YOU EXACT TIMES WHEN IT HAPPENS BECAUSE IT'S ABOUT FIVE TIMES A YEAR. I THINK IT'S WHEN I'M ON CRUISE CONTROL SO I FIND IT BIZARRE THAT ALL OF A SUDDEN MY CAR STARTS SPEEDING. SOMETHING IN THE SUPPORT BRACKETS OF THE FRONT SEAT SNAPPED, AND THE SEAT NOW TILTS TO THE SIDE AND ROCKS WHEN TURNING IN CORNERS. *TR
WE HAVE RECEIVED THREE RECALL NOTICES FOR THE ABOVE MENTIONED PROBLEMS. ALL OF THE NOTICES SAY THAT THE CAR WILL BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE BY THE DEALER BUT PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE AT THE CURRENT TIME. WHEN I GOT THE SECOND NOTICE I CALLED AND TALKED TO A WOMAN AT THE CHEVROLET DIVISION OF GM AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS SHOULD BE AVAILABLE WITHIN TWO WEEKS. A MONTH LATER WE GOT OUR THIRD NOTICE OF A DIFFERENT PROBLEM AND WHEN I CALLED AGAIN I WAS TOLD THAT THEY HAD NOT DETERMINED THE "ROOT" OF THE PROBLEM SO THEY DON'T KNOW WHICH PARTS NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHEN THE SOLUTION WOULD BE FOUND AND THEREFORE WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. IN ADDITION I WOULD THINK AN AMERICAN COMPANY LIKE GM WOULD BE HIRING AMERICANS TO ANSWER THEIR CUSTOMER'S COMPLAINTS. POWER STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING THRU A CURVE CAUSING A ACCIDENT WHICH RESULTED IN ONE RIDER INJURY. WE MADE A CLAIM WITH GM AND THEY DENIED IT STATING THAT THE DATA FROM THE BLACK BOX SHOWED THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTIONS. THE POWER STEERING STARTED WORKING AFTER THE ACCIDENT. THE DATA SHOWED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT LOCK WAS TOLD TO DEPLOY AND IT DID NOT. TO ME AND EVERYBODY ELSE, THAT IS AN EQUIPMENT MALFUNCTION. GM TOLD ME THAT SINCE THE DRIVER WAS NOT HURT THAT THEY DENIED THIS ONE ALSO. THE BACK SEAT RIDER WAS INJURED WHEN THE REAR DOOR GLASS SHATTERED SENDING GLASS INTO THE BACK OF HIS HEAD. THIS REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION TO REMOVE ALL OF THE GLASS FRAGMENTS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD A CLICKING SOUND WHENEVER A TURN WAS MADE. THE ENGINE STALLED AND THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE DRIVESHAFT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND GOING AROUND A CURVE, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. AS AN RESULT, THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN AN INCLINE AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE LINE. THE CONTACT WAS AIR LIFTED TO THE HOSPITAL AND SUSTAINED BROKEN RIBS, SHOULDER INJURIES, A CONCUSSION, MEMORY LOSS, AND CUTS AND BRUISES THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING), BUT THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL FAILED TO OPERATE AT TIMES OR WOULD OPERATE INTERMITTENTLY DO TO A DEFECTIVE HAZARD SWITCH. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE HAZARD SWITCH AND THE DEFECT WAS REMEDIED. THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT WHILE DRIVING EXHAUST FUMES WERE EMITTED INSIDE THE VEHICLE DUE TO A DEFECTIVE BLEND DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TRY TO STEER THE CAR. I CONTACTED DEALER AND WAS ADVISED A RECALL FROM GM ON THIS CAR WITH THE STEERING PROBLEM HOWEVER NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I JUST CONTACTED GM TODAY AND WAS ADVISED NO ESTIMATE ON WHEN PARTS WILL BECOME AVAILABLE HOWEVER VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE? I MEAN SERIOUSLY? HOW IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE WHEN YOU CAN'T STEER IT?? I CAN'T BELIEVE GM WOULD SAY IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE. MY WIFE NORMALLY DRIVES THIS CAR AND IF IT WENT OUT WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING, THERE IS NO WAY SHE COULD TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. I DON'T WANT HER DRIVING IT NOW SO WHAT IS SHE GOING TO DO ABOUT A CAR WHILE GM FIGURES OUT HOW TO GET THE PARTS? THEY NEED TO MAKE THIS RIGHT TO THE CUSTOMERS. DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE AT WELDS ON TWO SUPPORT BARS. SEAT LEANED TO THE RIGHT. BECAME VERY DANGEROUS SINCE SEAT BELT IS ATTACHED TO THE SEAT NEAR THE BREAKS. IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION SEAT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BROKEN LOOSE AND CAUSED SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND WERE ADVISED TO FIX SEAT OURSELVES SINCE IT WAS NOT A RECALL ITEM. (WE DID HAVE THE SEAT REPLACED.) WE DO HAVE THE BROKEN SEAT IN CASE SOMEONE FROM THE NHTSA WOULD LIKE TO INSPECT IT. I NOTICED THAT THERE ARE NUMEROUS OTHER DRIVERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED OF THE SAME PROBLEM. AS I TURNED ONTO AN EXIT RAMP MY POWER STEERING WENT AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CHIME SOUNDED. NO WARNING, JUST NO POWER. THERE SEEMS TO BE A RECALL, BUT I NEVER RECEIVED ANY INFORMATION. THIS VEHICLE ALSO HAS A PROBLEM WITH HEADLIGHTS AND DIRECTIONAL LIGHTS BLOWING OUT CONSTANTLY. THE MOST RECENT DIRECTIONAL LIGHT BLEW OUT, I REPLACED IT, AND WITHIN MINUTES BLEW OUT AGAIN. I HAVE HAD THINGS LIKE THE CD DECK AND THE BRAKES AND ALLOY RIMS FIXED AFTER HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THEM HOWEVER I HAVE HAD THE FRONT LEFT BLINKER FAIL TO WORK AND THEN AN HOUR LATER IT WORKS, THE NEXT HOUR DOES NOT WORK. I HAVE HAD MY POWER STEERING GO OUT MULTIPLE TIMES AND THEN AFTER PULLING OVER, SHUTTING OFF MY CAR AND TURNING IT BACK ON IT WORKED AGAIN. I HAVE ALMOST GO INTO AN ACCIDENT MULTIPLE TIMES BECAUSE THE FRONT LEFT BLINKER STOPS WORKING MID DRIVE, OR THE POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING. I WAS DRIVING ALONG A WINDING CURVY ROAD IN MY AREA AND REALIZED MY SEAT KEPT ROCKING TO THE LEFT AND RIGHT EVERY TIME I WOULD GO AROUND A CURVE. IT HAS NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE. AFTER GETTING HOME MY HUSBAND TOOK A LOOK AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING BUT IT APPEARS ONE OF THE BOLTS IN THE SEAT ADJUSTMENT MUST BE BROKEN OR GONE AS THE SEAT WILL NOT MOVE IF LOWERED ALL THE WAY DOWN BUT ROCKS EXTENSIVELY THE HIGHER WE RAISE THE SEAT. THROUGH THE YEARS WE HAVE HAD OFF AND ON EPISODES OF THE CAR NOT STARTING EVEN WHEN WE HAD A GOOD BATTERY AND IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING THE POWER STEERING GIVING OUT. WE FINALLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AFTER BEING ADVISED TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. THE MECHANIC, GM DEALER, ADVISED WE NEED A WHOLE NEW STEERING COLUMN, THIS WAS 6-25-13. IN LESS THEN A YEAR THE CAR CONTINUES TO NOT START AND TODAY THE POWER STEERING AGAIN WENT OUT ON MY 15 YEAR OLD SON AS HE WAS DRIVING HOME. WE HAVE LEFT E-MAILS WITH CHEVROLET WITH NO RETURN. THE LAST AFOREMENTIONED GM DEALER SAID THAT WE WOULD GET A CALL ABOUT THE RECALL ON THE STEERING BUT APPEARS THERE IS NO RECALL ON THE IGNITION, DESPITE SEVERAL NEWS ARTICLES SAYING THERE WAS. SECURITY SYSTEM WENT HAYWIRE. I GOT IN MY CAR TRIED TO START IT, IT WILL START, BUT DIES IN SECONDS, NO DASH LIGHTS, IF I LEAVE THE IGNITION TURN TO ON AFTER SO LONG 10 MINUTES OR LONGER SOMETIMES THE DASH LIGHTS WILL TURN ON AGAIN. I LOST COMPLETE CONTROL IN THE STEERING COLUMN AS I WAS TURNING LEFT AT AN INTERSECTION IN TRAFFIC. THE STEERING WHEEL FREELY TURNED 360 DEGREES, BUT THE TIRES DID NOT MOVE. I HAD NO WAY OF CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE AS IT WAS MOVING IN TRAFFIC. HAD I BEEN ON A HIGHWAY OR TRAVELING AT A HIGHER SPEED, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED AND INJURED OTHER DRIVERS! STEERING FUNCTION IS A VITAL COMPONENT OF ANY VEHICLE AND I FIND IT SCARY AND APPALLING THAT THIS OCCURRED AND IS NOT COVERED BY A GM RECALL.
