STEERING SHAFT CAUSING KNOCKING NOISE WHEN YOU TURN STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 1 INCH TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY OR IN MOTION. FOUND THIS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER OWNERS WITH OVER 150 COMPLAINTS. SO FAR NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR TO REPLACE THE THE STEERING SHAFT.

THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE BACK IN 2016. THE ISSUE WAS FIXED, BUT SINCE NOW HAS BROKEN AGAIN. IT IS NOT DRIVABLE AND WAS IN MOTION. IT IS THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE KIT (RECALL # 14152A).
IGNITION SWITCH PROOBLEMS
BODY CONTOL MODULE MALFUNCTIONING CAUSING SENSORS TO MALFUNCTION AND READ ISSUES OR CONDITIONS SUCH AS TIRE SLIPPAGE, OVERHEATING, POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION, ETC WHERE THERE IS NO ISSUE OR WET ROAD CONDITION.
STEERING IS NOT WORKING, MAKING IT TOO HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT HAPPENED, WHILE IN A HIGHWAY; HAS SOME ELECTRICAL ISSUES LIKE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND SPEED CONTROL IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY
WIRING ISSUES REPLACED EVERYTHING NEW IT THE CHARGING DEPARTMENT 2 TIMES AND THE PROBLEMS KEPT ARISING THUS THE COMPUTER THE PCM FIRED SO IDK WHAT WENT WRONG BUT IT'S SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DISCUSSED I WILL NEVER OWN ANOTHER CHEVROLET CAR
Driving at any speed the car will randomly brake on its own.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, A CLUNKING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE LOCAL DEALER JOHN ELWAY CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 5200 S. BROADWAY, ENGLEWOOD, CO 80113 AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.*DT
VEHICLE LOST POWERING STEERING AFTER MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN ONTO A BUSY ROAD. ENDED UP HALF WAY IN THE ONCOMING LANE BEFORE I COULD GET IT UNDER CONTROL. GOOD THING NO OTHER CARS WERE IN THE WAY. I HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR. I ALSO HAVE HAD OTHER INCIDENCES WHEN THE POWER STEERING GLITCHES OFF AND ON WHILE I'M TURNING INTO PARKING SPOTS. AFTER I BOUGHT THIS CAR, BRAND NEW, I HAD TAKEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR STEERING ISSUES BUT THEY DIDNT FIND ANY ISSUES AT THAT TIME AND I WAS DISMISSED, NOW IT'S OBVIOUS THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR THESE CARS. THIS IS A HAZARD AND IS TERRIFYING WHEN IT HAPPENS.
STEERING WHEEL COLUMN MAKES CLUNKING NOISE WHEN TURNING. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED AT LEAST 3 TIMES. THE LAST 2 WERE 5/31/2013, WHICH WE PAID FOR, & 10/1/2014, WHICH WAS ON A RECALL. NOW IT HAS BEEN DOING IT AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS.
POWER STEERING GOES OUT MAKING IT DIFFICULT TO STEER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE STEERING CEASED. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF OF THE ROADWAY AND HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE STARTED APPROXIMATELY TWO YEARS AGO, AND WORSENED OVER TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING OUT OF A DRIVEWAY, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY TIGHT AND DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS WIFE WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE STEERING WHEEL UNEXPECTEDLY STARTED MOVING LEFT TO RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE AS LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). HOWEVER THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
STEERING ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM FAILS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING, RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING ABILITY POSSIBLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT OR DEATH. RECALL WAS DATED 03/31/2014 BUT THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. DATA BASE SAYS NO RECALLS ARE PENDING BUT OBVIOUSLY THE PROBLEM DOES STILL EXISTS. VEHICLE IS STATIONARY, IN MOTION, AND ON ANY STREET WHEN THE PROBLEM ARISES. WARNING BEEP SOUNDS AND NOTICE POPS UP IN THE WARNING SECTION ON THE CONSOLE.
POWER STEERING CUT OUT WITH NO WARNING WHILE DRIVING. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO STEER, BUT WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF TO SIDE OF ROAD. SHUT VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IMMEDIATELY. POWER STEERING RETURNED WHEN CAR WAS RESTARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST. AN AUDIBLE CHIME WAS HEARD DURING THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED, AND THE POWER STEERING ASSIST RETURNED INDEPENDENTLY. ADDITIONALLY, THE CHECK FUEL CAP WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER NOR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING) HOWEVER, THE REPAIR FAILED TO PREVENT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
WAS DRIVING CAR AND THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING DISABLED AND WILL NOT TURN BACK ON. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR SAFELY. THIS VEHICLE HAD A RECALL ON IT AND WAS TOLD IT WAS FIXED IN 2014. ONLY 5 YEARS LATER THE RECALL DEFECTED AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT.
POWER STEERING FAILS. LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART IT POWER STEERING RETURNS. LOST POWER STEERING SIX TIMES IN ONE WEEK.
I WAS DRIVING THROUGH MY SCHOOL CAMPUS PARKING LOT. NOTHING NEW. I MADE A SHARP TURN ONTO A DIFFERENT AISLE. MID TURN, MY STEERING WHEEL JERKED OUT OF MY HANDS IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION. I SLAMMED ON MY BREAK TO AVOID CRASHING. AFTER THAT, I HAD NO POWER STEERING AND THE WHEEL CONTINUED TO JERK. LUCKILY I WASN'T FAR FROM MY PARKING SPOT. THE NEXT DAY (TODAY), I WENT TO CHECK IT OUT. BUT AFTER STARTING THE CAR, ALL SEEMED FINE. I DROVE IT AROUND THE CAMPUS A BIT WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE ISSUES. SO THEN I DECIDED TO RUN SOME ERRANDS. LESS THAN TWO MILES AWAY THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH STARTED TO GO CRAZY. ALL THE LIGHTS WERE TAKING TURNS FLASHING AND BEEPING (CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, BATTERY LIGHT, BRAKE LIGHT, ETC). THEN THE STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN WHILE I WAS ON THE MAIN ROAD. I WAS ABLE TO MANHANDLE THE WHEEL ENOUGH TO GET IT INTO A GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT BACK HOME, BUT I'M SCARED TO DRIVE ANYWHERE. I FOUND SOME PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE. AND ALL OF THEM SAID IT WAS RESOLVED AFTER FILING AT THE NHTSA.
TRACTION CONTROL ON AND OFF. FEELS HARD AND FORCED STEERING WHEEL ASSISTANCE TURNS OFF, WHEEL TOO HARD USING TOO MUCH GAS.
ONE MONTH AGO WE RECEIVED NOTICE THAT MY SON'S 2005 CHEVY MALIBU HAD A RECALL THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE. THERE WERE THREE THAT WERE IN NEED OF SERVICE WHEN WE MADE THE APPOINTMENT. UPON ARRIVING FOR AN 830AM APPOINTMENT MY SON WAS PREPARED TO WAIT BECAUSE THEY SAID IT WAS A SIMPLE REPAIR. AROUND 4PM HE WAS GIVEN A RENTAL AND TOLD THEY WOULD CALL WHEN THE CAR WAS DONE. ONE WEEK LATER HE RECEIVED A CALL TO COME IN. HE WAS TOLD THAT THE RECALL WAS DONE BUT NOW THE CAR WAS UNDRIVABLE. AT THIS POINT SOMEONE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GOOD IDEA TO SIT HIM DOWN WITH A SALES ASSOCIATE. HE'S A NINE-TEEN YEAR OLD COLLEGE STUDENT WITH A PART TIME JOB. THEY PROCEEDED TO FILL OUT THE APPLICATION AND RUN HIS CREDIT REPORT BEFORE I RECEIVED A PHONE CALL. THE SALES ASSOCIATE ASSURED HIM THAT IF I CO-SIGNED FOR HIS LOAN, THEY COULD GET A BETTER INTEREST RATE AND CHEAPER MONTHLY PAYMENTS ON THE 72-MONTH LOAN. THIS PROCESS WAS HALTED IMMEDIATELY ONCE THAT CALL WAS MADE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP, I EXPLAINED TO THE SALES ASSOCIATE THAT I WAS NOT WILLING TO HAVE A COLLEGE STUDENT WITH A SIX-YEAR LOAN FOR A TWENTY-THOUSAND-DOLLAR VEHICLE. SHE IMMEDIATELY WENT AND GOT THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO EXPLAINED TO ME THAT AFTER PERFORMING THE RECALL THE CAR WAS NOW UNABLE TO STEER. HE SAID THAT THEY COULD INVEST ADDITIONAL MONEY IN TRYING TO FIX IT BUT THAT HE DIDN'T THINK THE CAR WAS SAFE AND HE WOULDN'T LET HIS FAMILY MEMBER DRIVE IT. HE WENT SO FAR AS SAYING EVEN IF HE COULD FIND THE PART, HE DOUBTS IT WOULD WORK. THEY OFFERED A FIVE-HUNDRED-DOLLAR TRADE IN VALUE IF WE BOUGHT A CAR FROM THEM. I WAS TOLD IF WE DID NOT BUY A CAR FROM THEM THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE THAT COULD BE DONE. WE WERE ALSO TOLD THEY HAD DONE ALL THAT THEY COULD DO, AND WE WERE LUCKY THEY GAVE THE RENTAL FOR A WEEK AND THAT A RENTAL IS NOT PART OF A RECALL SERVICE. MY SON WAS OUT OF A CAR AND THAT WAS THAT ACCORDING TO THEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEYS PROVIDED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASING THE VEHICLE DID NOT OPEN THE DOORS AND THE TRUNK MANUALLY. THE CONTACT TOOK THE KEYS TO A LOCKSMITH WHO STATED THAT THE KEYS DID NOT MATCH THE DOOR LOCKS AND THE TRUNK LOCK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TURAN FOLEY CHEVROLET BUICK (228-206-0289, LOCATED AT 11123 U S 49, GULFPORT, MS 39503) WHERE THE MANAGER AND GENERAL MANAGER WERE UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE. THE GENERAL MANAGER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT SHE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE COST TO REPLACE THE LOCKS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT GET BACK WITH THE CONTACT. THE FAILURE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 14. *DT*JB
STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON AND BEEPED. A RECALL WAS PERFORMED IN OCT 2014 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM RECALLS 14116 AND 13036 BUT IT LOOKS LIKE ITS BACK. CALLED GM AND THEY SENT ME TO A DEALER RODGER DEAN AND THEY SAID IT NEEDS A STEERING COLUMN. IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING THE CAR TO WORK.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON A SIDE STREET I SMELLED A BURNING SMELL AND SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT OF MY STEERING WHEEL. THE SENSOR LIGHT FOR MY AIR BAG THEN CAME ON AND HAS BEEN ON EVER SINCE.
STEERING WHEEL STARTED SHAKING SLIGHTLY IN AUGUST. NOW IT SHAKES AND THEN POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGHWAY, CITY STREETS ANYWHERE GOING ANY SPEED. AS SOON AS THE CAR STARTS THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES, OF YOU TURN THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION IT WILL CLAM IT A LITTLE. BREAK LIGHTS RANDOMLY STOP WORKING. REPLACED BREAK LIGHTS 6 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS. HEADLIGHTS MELT THE PLASTIC HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2017. ALL OF THESE ISSUES HAVE BEEN RECALLED BUT NOT ON MY VIN.
DEALER INFORMS ME SAFETY RECALL 14116B LOSS OF POWER STEERING WAS ACCOMPLISHED ON MY VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY, YET THE WARNING LIGHT IS DISPLAYED ON MY INFO CENTER. FIX DID NOT WORK LONG.
MY PASSENGER SIDE HEADLAMP LIGHT (TURN SIGNAL) ASSEMBLY KEEPS BURNING OUT AND MELTING THE BULB HOUSING AND ORANGE LENS. IT BURNED A HOLE IN THE ORANGE TURN SIGNAL LENS. I REPLACE BULB AFTER BULB BUT IT KEEPS FAILING. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE NO CAR OWNER SHOULD HAVE TO KEEP REPLACING BULBS CONSTANTLY ONLY FOR THEM TO FAIL OVER AND OVER AGAIN! THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY, MOVING, ETC..
HAVING STEERING AND TURNING PROBLEMS. LOOKING TO BE THE ELECTRONIC STEERING PUMP.
I PURCHASED A 2005 CHEVY MALIBU LS V6 IN JUNE 2018. THE VEHICLE WAS A 1 OWNER CAR WITH 44,000 MILES ON IT AND WAS IN PRISTINE CONDITION DRIVEN BY AN ELDERLY GENTLEMAN WHO HAD RECENTLY PASSED AWAY. I PURCHASED FOR MY 16 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER. ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO, SHE ALERTED US TO AN INTERMITTENT TWITCHING OF THE STEERING WHEEL WHICH CAUSES IT TO SHAKE AND AS A RESULT MAKES THE VEHICLE A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT TO STEER. NOW, THE VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY DISPLAYS THE POWER STEERING ALERT ON HER RADIO AND IS DOING THE TWITCHING THING MORE OFTEN. I CONTACTED CHEVY WHO, OF COURSE, INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A RECALL REGARDING THE POWER STEERING BUT THIS VEHICLE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE CAR NOW HAS 52,700 MILES ON IT AND THE FREQUENCY WITH WHICH THIS IS HAPPENING IS A BIG CAUSE FOR CONCERN. CHEVY DID SEND ME AN EMAIL WHICH PROVIDES $100 TOWARD SERVICE AT A DEALERSHIP, WHICH TELLS ME THAT THEY ARE VERY AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER CHOOSE NOT TO ADDRESS IT UNTIL THERE IS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I AM TAKING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC THIS WEEK BUT AS I SAID THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND TO GET THE FAILURE TO APPEAR TYPICALLY OCCURS WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING. FOR A VEHICLE TO HAVE A FAILURE, SUCH AS THIS, WITH SUCH A LOW MILEAGE IS A VERY BAD CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE AND VERY DANGEROUS FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE ENTRUSTED THIS COMPANY WITH THEIR SAFETY.
CAR BATTERY KEEPS DYING EVEN THOUGH IT'S NEW AND WE HAVE CHANGED FUSES. WE TOOK THE CAR TO MECHANIC THEY CAN FIND WHY LOSING CHARGE ON BATTERY. KEEP JUMPING OF WON'T STAY CHARGED BIT 1 DAY .
THE THEFT SYSTEM KEEPS GOING OFF FOR NO REASON LEAVING ME STRANDED FOR 10-15 MINUTES. IT HAPPENED TO TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY 3 TIMES IN THE PAST THE WHOLE DASH BOARD LIT UP AND THE THEFT SYSTEM LIGHT WAS BLINKING. IT ALSO HAPPENS WHILE I INITIALLY START THE CAR UP.

WHILE PULLING INTO A DRIVEWAY, IT APPEARED AS THOUGH THE POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING, IE. VERY HARD TO STEER. THEN THERE WAS A VERY LOUD "BANG", AND THE STEERING WHEEL JUST, FREEWHEELED, WITH LOUD "CLICKS" AS IT TURNED. THERE WAS NO STEERING IN EITHER DIRECTION. LUCKILY, I WASN'T AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. IT APPEARS THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ON THE STEERING COLUMN BROKE. THIS WAS A RECALL ITEM FROM 2014. WE BOUGHT THE CAR NOV. 2018. THE LOCAL DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE RECALL EXPIRED IN 2017. A RECALL EXPIRED??? AND A STEERING COLUMN BROKE??? THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED MY GM, WITHOUT AN EXPIRATION. NOT TO MENTION, ARE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS IDENTICAL TO THE PART THEY REPLACE? OR HAS THE DEFECT BEEN RE-ENGINEERED TO NOT HAPPEN AGAIN. REPORTS I'VE NOW READ CONCERNING THIS ISSUE, STATE THAT THE SAME CONDITION RE-OCCURS IN LESS THAN 20,000 MILES. THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A "WEAR AND TEAR" ITEM. THIS IS A GM ENGINEERING DEFECT AND MUST BE ADDRESSED BY GM.
WARNING MESSAGE IS PRESENTED IN CARS MESSAGE BOARD STATING IMPENDING POWER STEERING FAILURE. PREVIOUS RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE WAS DATED MAR 2014. CAR IS STILL SHOWING THE SAME SIGNS AS BEFORE THE RECALL. RECALL ISSUE DESCRIBED BELOW: IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM

GM RECALLED SEVERAL VEHICLES FOR PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING AND ELECTRIC STEERING ASSIST IN 2014. ACCORDING TO THE GM NEWSBRIEF, "IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, A MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AND A CHIME SOUND TO INFORM THE DRIVER. STEERING CONTROL CAN BE MAINTAINED BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WILL REVERT TO MANUAL STEERING, BUT GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED AT LOW VEHICLE SPEEDS, WHICH COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH." CHIPMAN & TAYLOR, A CERTIFIED GM DEALER AND SERVICE REPAIR SHOP, HAS INDICATED THAT THE AFOREMENTIONED UNITS ARE FAILING IN MY VEHICLE WHICH WAS IDENTIFIED AS ONE OF THE VEHICLES IN THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THEY INDICATED THAT THE 2005 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX LS WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE FULL REPAIR AND ONLY REPLACED A SINGULAR PART WHICH DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE THAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO RESOLVE VIA THEIR RECALL PROCEDURE. IT IS BOTH IRRESPONSIBLE AND REPREHENSIBLE THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF THE ISSUE, MADE A STATEMENT REGARDING THEIR INTENT TO REMEDY THE SITUATION, AND SIMULTANEOUSLY FAILED TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THEIR PROMISES TO CONSUMERS. THIS TYPE OF NEGLIGENCE PUTS EVERY PERSON ON THE ROAD AT RISK. 'WITH THESE SAFETY RECALLS AND LIFETIME WARRANTIES, WE ARE GOING AFTER EVERY CAR THAT MIGHT HAVE THIS PROBLEM, AND WE ARE GOING TO MAKE IT RIGHT. WE HAVE RECALLED SOME OF THESE VEHICLES BEFORE FOR THE SAME ISSUE AND OFFERED EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON OTHERS, BUT WE DID NOT DO ENOUGH.' THEIR FAILURE TO FOLLOW THROUGH WITH THEIR PROMISE IS AN ATROCITY OF MONUMENTAL PROPORTIONS AND SHOULD NOT BE TAKEN LIGHTLY. 612,203 VEHICLES WERE AFFECTED BY THIS RECALL AND GM HAS THE AUDACITY TO ALLOW CITIZENS TO BE PLACED IN GRAVE DANGER DUE TO THEIR NEGLIGENCE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 MALIBU MAXX. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE TURN SIGNALS MALFUNCTIONED AND WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO LEWIS CHEVROLET OF GARDEN CITY (1903 US 50 BUS E., GARDEN CITY , KS) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEADLIGHT BULB SOCKETS HAD MELTED AND DAMAGED THE BULBS. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BULBS COULD NOT BE SCREWED OUT OF THE LIGHT BULB SOCKETS AND THE ENTIRE HEADLIGHT BULB ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED TO BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE ASSEMBLIES ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.

I STARTED TO HAVE A ISSUE WITH THE POWER STEERING ASSIST A FEW DAYS AGO. THE CAR HAD A WEIRD NOISE ON THE STEERING AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE ON ITS OWN WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ON. IT WAS NOT UNTIL YESTERDAY THAT THE POWER STEERING LOCKED UP AS I WAS DRIVING. STEERING BECAME HEAVY. IT WAS VERY DIFICULT TO PERFORM SHARP TURNS. THERE WAS A MESSAGE AND A CHIME UPON THE STEERING GETTING STIFF. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT ALTHOUGH THERE IS A RECALL NOTICE FOR MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE THAT WHEN USING THE VIN CODE NO RECALLS COME UP SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT PERFORM THE SERVICE.

TURNING LEFT OFF THE HIGHWAY ONTO A ROAD THE STEERING FROZE. I HAD TO STOP AND BACK UP TO RELEASE THE STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED 2 OR 3 TIMES BOTH RIGHT OR LEFT TURN. THE STEERING COLUMN IS MAKING A NOISE AND I BELIEVE IT IS THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT. MAYPLOE CHEV REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN.

THE TWITCHING IS CONSTANTS AS LONG AS CAR IS STARTED OR KEY TURNED TO SUPPLY POWER. THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REPORTS - WHY IS THIS NOT A SAFETY HAZARD? FIRST THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY WOULD FIX IT AT NO CHARGE - THEN THEY SAID THAT IT WOULD BE $750 TO FIX IT.

EPS (ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING) WENT OUT RANDOMLY WHILE STOPPED AT A GAS STATION. STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO TWITCH AND THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. CAR WAS STATIONARY, STARTED, PLACED IN REVERSE AND MOVED FROM A PARKING SPOT TO A GAS PUMP. WHEN I TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, THE EPS WAS OUT. AFTER CYCLING POWER A FEW TIMES, THE EPS COMES BACK. ONCE YOU TURN OFF THE CAR IT GOES BACK TO NOT WORKING. MY YEAR MAKE AND MODEL WERE ALL A PART OF A RECALL FOR THE EPS, BUT GM STATES IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY VIN. NO DEALER WILL ATTEMPT TO HELP FIX THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS RIDICULOUS CONSIDERING ITS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT WAS ALREADY RECALLED FOR OTHER VINS OF THE SAME MAKE YEAR AND MODEL. SEE GM BULLETIN 14116 AND DCS3206
