I HAVE A 2005 MALIBU - THAT IS A MONEY PIT- THIER IS A WIRING IGNITION PROBLEM - MY CAR IS AN INTERMITTENT STARTER - I'VE CHANGED FUSES- ALTERNATOR - FUEL PUMP- BEEN TOLD THIS AND THAT - I'M A SINGLE FEMALE - AND CAN'T DRIVE THIS CAR ANYWHERE - IT STOPS WHEN EVER IT WANTS TO - IN ORDER HE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD - OR GOING TO THE GROCERY STORE AAA HAS RETIRED MY TOWING - I'M ONLINE READING AND EVERYBODY HAS WENT THROUGH MY HE SAME - I CALLED LAST WEEK BEFORE HAVING MY CAR TOWED AGAIN - TO SEE IF THIER HAS BEEN A RECALL AND I HEARD NO- I HAD IT TOWED - SPENT 320 DOLLARS BEING TOLD IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR AFTER GOING THROUGH 2 BATTERIES - FOR THE SAME THING - I JUST GOT MY CAR BACK - WENT OUT TO GET SOME COFFEE - COME OUT AND THE CAR WON'T START AGAIN - WOULD SOMEONE CALL ME ABOUT THIS - 214 755 -3606
THE CAR IS HARD TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK, THE BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN PRESSED.
MY POWER STEERING IS CONSTANTLY GOING OUT ON MY CAR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AS WELL AS CITY STREETS AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND PARK FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE IT WILL WORK AGAIN. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I'VE BARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES MOST RECENTLY IT HAS FAILED 3 TIMES IN 2 HOURS HOLE DRIVING NORMALLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR THE PAST YEAR BUT INCIDENTS OF FAILURE HAVE INCREASED SINCE REACHING 156000 MILES ON MY CAR. IT APPEARS THAT THERE IS A RECAL FOR THIS ISSUE FOR MY YEAR AND MODEL AND YET I'VE BEEN TOLD THERE IS A RECALL BUT MY CAR ISN'T COVERED
WHEN I AM DRIVING, HIGHWAY OR LOCAL, MY ENGINE WILL STUTTER AND SHUT DOWN, OR JUST QUIETLY SHUT DOWN RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. IT IS HAPPENING A LOT. I HAVE FOUND MYSELF FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC DURING SOME OF THESE STALLS. SOMETIMES I CAN GET IT TO RESTART SND OTHER TIMES I CANNOT. ALSO. I AM HAVING TROUBLE GET GAS INTO THE TANK WHEN FUELING. I HEAR AIR ESCAPING AND THE PUMP WILL SHUT OFF. LOCAL MECHANICS DO NOT WANT TO TACKLE THAT ISSUE. THE DEALER I BOUGHT IT FROM SAYS SINCE I BOUGHT IT USED, AS-IS, THAT THE PROBLEM IS ON ME. I HAVE READ ONLINE THAT MANY PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T WANT ME IRE ANYONE TO BECOME A FATALITY BECAUSE OF THIS. WHAT CAN BE DONE?
THE POWER STEERING WOULD STOP WORKING PERIODICALLY, MOST OFTEN UPON STARTING OF THE CAR BUT IT FAILED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ONE TIME. THE MECHANIC READ IT AS A C0545 CODE, STEERING WHEEL TORQUE INPUT SENSOR. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS ISSUE IS WELL KNOW, AND IT APPEARS SOME VEHICLES WITH THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND YEAR WERE COVERED UNDER A RECALL, BUT MY PARTICULAR ONE DOES NOT SEEM TO BE.
TAKATA RECALL I WAS DRIVING ON ROUTE 19 JUST BEFORE THE MAPLE FORK EXIT THE LIGHT WAS RED AND I BEGAN TO SLOW DOWN. ALL OF A SUDDEN THE BRAKES AND STEERING WOULD NOT WORK AND THE CAR HIT THE REAR END OF THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGES TO THE FRONT OF MY CAR. THE OTHER CAR WAS NOT AFFECTED NEARLY AS MUCH. IT WAS LIKE THE CAR JUST STOPPED. NO AIRBAGS WAS DEPLOYED.
STEERING GOES OUT INTERMITTENTLY. STEERING WHEEL IS TWITCHING SLIGHTLY . SOMETIMES, WHILE DRIVING, THE ALERT BELL GOES OFF AND POWER STEERING GOES OUT. THIS PROBLEM WILL PERSIST ON AND OFF. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET, THEY STATED THE RECALL THEY HAD IS OVER.
WHILE STATIONARY, STEERING WHEEL IN VEHICLE TWITCHES BACK AND FORTH WHILE MAKING A MECHANICAL GRINDING SOUND. WHILE IN MOTION, VEHICLE LOSES POWER STEERING RESULTING IN DIFFICULT TURNING BOTH TO THE RIGHT AND LEFT WHILE AT LOW AND MODERATE SPEEDS.
ABS CONTROL SYSTEM MODULE WEAK BRAKE PEDAL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE AT A COMPLETE STOP, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE COMPLETELY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT, AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK TAPPED THE REAR OF HER VEHICLE. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT, NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED, NO MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NEEDED, AND THERE WAS NO POLICE REPORT FILED. THE CONTACT HAD BEEN EXPERIENCING THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE CONTACT HAD TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER (CECIL ATKISSION MOTORS - KERRVILLE CHEVROLET, CADILLAC AND BUICK 550 BENSON DR, KERRVILLE, TX 78028 (866) 240-2964) WHERE THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE; THERE ARE NO RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH THIS VIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 155,000.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, I HEARD A CHIME AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP AND STATED 'POWER STEERING' MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND MADE IT HARD TO TURN. I WAS STILL ABLE TO DRIVE TO MY DESTINATION. I WAS ALSO ABLE TO TURN MY CAR OFF AND IT'LL RESET AND THE POWER STEERING MESSAGE WOULD GO AWAY AND IT'LL BE EASIER TO USE MY STEERING WHEEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FELIX CHEVROLET (3330 S FIGUEROA ST, LOS ANGELES, CA 90007) FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED MULTIPLE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER AT LEAST FIVE TIMES FOR MULTIPLE FAILURES, INCLUDING THE DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING, THE BATTERY, THE ODOMETER NUMBERS BEING ERASED, AND THE VEHICLE NOT STARTING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURES WERE DUE TO THE CONTROL MODULE THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A DRIVE-THRU, THE STEERING WHEEL INDEPENDENTLY MANEUVERED LEFT, RIGHT, BACK, AND FORTH. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER (CHASE CHEVROLET, LOCATED AT 6441 HOLMAN RD, STOCKTON, CA 95212, 209-475-6600) AND A SUPERVISOR AGREED TO REPLACE THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY FOR FREE. THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE PREVIOUS VEHICLE OWNER SERVICED THE VEHICLE PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) IN 2014. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MOTOR AND THE POWER STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE MECHANIC MENTIONED THAT THERE WERE NO DIAGNOSTIC CODES FOUND ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT AND THE MECHANIC TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEERING WHEEL INDEPENDENTLY MANEUVERED LEFT, RIGHT, BACK AND FORTH DURING THE TEST DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER FOR ONE WEEK, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE REPAIR COSTS. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND HANDED THE KEYS BACK TO THE CONTACT. WHILE REVERSING FROM A PARKING SPACE AND TURNING TO THE LEFT, THE STEERING WHEEL VEERED INDEPENDENTLY TO THE RIGHT WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD INDEPENDENTLY MOVE BACK AND FORTH. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A POLE. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD HAVE CAUSED A FATAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON VARIOUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,500.
MULTIPLE INSTANCES OF THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMING MOMENTARILY FROZEN IN PLACE RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL,UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. WHEN THIS OCCURS A AUDIBLE CHIME IS HEARD COMING FROM THE DASH. THIS OCCURS AT BOTH LOW SPEEDS WHILE TURNING AND AT HIGH SPEED WHILE ON HIWAYS MAKING LANE CHANGES. OFTEN THIS IS ACCOCIATED WHILE UNDER ACCELERATION WHILE MAKING A TURN AT LOW SPEEDS, LANE CHANGES AT HIWAY SPEEDS AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THIS IS NOT THE TORQUE SOMETIMES FELT IN THE STEERING FROM FRONT WHEEL DRIVE ACCELERATION BUT A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL DUE TO THE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL DUE TO THE STEERING WHEEL BECOMING LOCKED IN PLACE LEAVING THE DRIVER UNABLE TO MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL. IT'S LIKE THE POWER ASSIST IS TURNED OFF FOR A BRIEF SECOND MOMENTARILY RESULTING IN HARD STEERING BEFORE COMPLETELY BECOMING UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AT ALL AS IF IT'S FROZEN IN PLACE. WHEN THIS OCCURS AN AUDIBLE CHIME IS HEARD ALERTING THE DRIVER. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES NOW. VERY UNSAFE. THERE IS A GM RECALL # N140115 RECALL BULLETIN # 14116 AND NHTSA RECALL # 14V-153 COVERING MY YEAR VEHICLE FOR THIS CAR BUT AM TOLD IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN ? WELL I'M EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES AS STATED IN THE RECALLS. MY CAR MATCHES THE YEARS AND MAKE INVLOVED. HOW CAN THIS RECALL NOT INCLUDE MY CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENS MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST 3 TO 4 YEARS AND HAS RECENTLY BECOME VERY APPEARANT IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND UNSAFE TO DRIVE. PLEASE HELP.
BRAKE SYSTEM FAILURE WEAK BRAKE PEDAL AND PRESSURE
I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK DRIVING ON THE 405 FREEWAY IN CALIFORNIA GOING AROUND A RAMP IN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP ON ME I HIT THE BRAKE IT RELEASED THE NEXT MORNING ON MY WAY BACK HOME FROM WORK I WAS ON MY WAY ON THE FREEWAY SO I ACCELERATE ON THE GAS AND MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AS SOON AS I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE IGNITION GAS IT RELEASED. AND JUST RECENTLY ABOUT 3 DAYS AGO TODAY IS NOVEMBER 7TH SO NOVEMBER 2ND ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK ALL OF THIS HAPPENED ON MY WAY TO WORK IN FROM WORK BUT ON MY WAY FROM WORK I WENT DOWN TO START MY CAR AND STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING REAL BAD START JERKING REAL BAD AND FROM THERE OTHER THINGS TO START HAPPENING TO THE CAR STEERING WHEEL STARTS SHAKING REAL BAD AS I PUT ON MY SEATBELT THE SEATBELT SIGN WILL NOT GO OFF AND WE'LL MAKE A BEEPING SOUND EVERY FEW MINUTES ALSO THE TOTAL CONTRACTION SIGN ALSO CUT ON AND THEN FOR SOME REASON I HAD A HALF TANK OF GAS IN MY TANK BUT THE FUEL LIGHT WILL COME CUT ON AND ON THE DASH WILL SAVE FUEL LOW WHEN I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK UP
DISPLAY HAS BEEN DISPLAYING POWER STEERING AND GETS HARD TO STEER. BOTH TIMES I HAD JUST TURNED INTO MY DESTINATION BUT WAS STILL MOVING AT LOW SPEED
STEERING SHAFT INADEQUATE SUPPORT OF U-JOINT. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES GOING DOWN THE ROAD. YOU CAN FEEL A CLICKING IN IT WHEN YOU TURN. IT'S LIKE THE STEERING WHEEL COULD BREAK OR SOMETHING. ALSO EVERY NOW AND THEN THERE IS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING. POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. IT'S DONE THIS NUMEROUS TIMES OVER THE YEARS. AND WHEN WE TAKE IT IN THEY SAY THE RECALL WON'T COVER IT. I'VE TRIED CALLING DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAY THEIRS NO OPEN RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE.
POWER STEERING ASSIST FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY. WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF AND TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND IT CAME BACK MOMENTARILY. SPORADICALLY WENT ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL DAYS, HOWEVER HAVE HAD NO POWER STEERING SINCE FRIDAY OCTOBER 12TH, TODAY IS OCTOBER 16TH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE KEY SEIZED IN THE IGNITION AND WAS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,000.
WELL AFTER A DAY OF NO ISSUES I WAS DRIVING WENT TO PARK AND I PUT MY CAR INTO PARK THE CAR DIED AND REVERSED A LITTLE BIT. IT NOW WON'T TURN OVER AND WON'T MAKE ANY NOISE UNDER THE HOOD. I TRIED JUMPING IT BUT THAT DIDN'T WORK AND I TRIED TO SEE IF MAYBE THE ANTI LOCK SYSTEM SHUT IT OFF BUT IT'S NOT THAT EITHER. WHEN I TURN THE KEY TO THE ON POSITION IT SAYS IT'S STILL IN REVERSE AND WHEN I MOVE THE SHIFTER IT DOESN'T REGISTER ON THE DASHBOARD. SO MY CAR STILL THINKS I'M IN REVERSE.
REFERRED TO YOU BY GM AFTER DEALER REFUSED TO CONSIDER THIS A FREE REPAIR, AS MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED BY RECALL #13036D. VEHICLE IS EXHIBITING SAME CONDITIONS AS PER YOUR RECALL, BRAKE LIGHT REMAINS ILLUMINATED .PANIC-BRAKE ASSIST MALFUNCTIONED 2 WEEKS AGO; ALMOST RESULTING IN A REAR END COLLISION. THIS OCCURRED ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY, AND VEHICLE BEGAN TO SKID. AT THAT POINT I RELEASED THE BRAKE, AND WAS FORCED TO PUMP THEM IN ORDER TO SLOW VEHICLE. PARK-BRAKE FEATURE ALSO MALFUNCTIONS RANDOMLY. THESE ARE ALL DUE TO VOLTAGE FLUCTUATIONS IN BODY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION, REQUIRING A SPACER TO BE INSTALLED.
LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO SHORT OUT EVEN AFTER REPLACEMENT OF THE SOCKET ASSEMBLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH AND ATTEMPTING A TURN, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO A COMPLETE STOP. APPROXIMATELY THREE MINUTES LATER, THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DETERMINED THAT THE "U" JOINT FOR THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CALLED KRISTAL AUTO MALL (2859 FLATBUSH AVENUE, BROOKLYN, NY 11234) WHERE AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE AT 51 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED AND THE BRAKE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS DISCONNECTED AND THE SCREW WAS LOOSE. MEGA MOTORS, INC. (565 S BUCKNER BLVD, DALLAS, TX) WAS CONTACTED, BUT REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY ISSUES DUE TO THE CONTACT PURCHASING THE VEHICLE 'AS IS'. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE ABSOLVED OF ALL LIABILITY. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS CONTACTED AND CONFIRMED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 222,248.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED AT 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS DISENGAGED, THE TACHOMETER REMAINED AT APPROXIMATELY 4500 AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DECELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO METERING MOTORPLEX (1949 HART ST, VINCENNES, IN 47591, 812-882-5367) WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE, BUT WERE UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURE CODES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 154,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. MAGEE AUTOPLEX CHEVROLET (2127 WASHINGTON ST, FRANKLINTON, LA 70438, (866) 551-5128) WAS CONTACTED AND AN APPOINTMENT WAS MADE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,596.
I'VE HAD MY CAR FOR ALMOST THREE YEARS. I'VE HAD MULTIPLE ISSUES WITH IT AND THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHITEHEADS CHEVROLET WHERE I HAD MY RECALLS FIXED IS BY FAR THE WORST DEALERSHIP ANYONE COULD TAKE THEIR CAR TOO. I TOOK THEM MY CAR AND THEY WERE GOING TO FIX THE RECALLS THE STEERING SHAFT INADEQUATE SUPPORT OF U JOINT TRANSMISSION SHIFT CABLE STEERING LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING THEY HAD MY CAR FOR A COUPLE DAYS BUT WHEN I GOT IT BACK IT SEEMED LIKE NOTHING WAS FIXED I TOOK IT BACK 3 DIFFERENT TIMES FOR THE SAME RECALLS THE LAST TIME I PICKED UP MY CAR THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON ALL OF A SUDDEN I CALLED THEM AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN SO I DID THEY HAD IT FOR ANOTHER DAY I WENT BACK GOT IT AND DROVE STRAIGHT HOME LATER THAT DAY I NEEDED TO GO GET MY DAUGHTER SOME DIAPERS I GOT IN THE CAR STARTED IT AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON AGAIN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TOLD THEM WHAT WAS GOING ON THE GUY TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO ABOUT IT. I GOT UPSET CALLED THE MAIN CHEVROLET COMPANY MADE A COMPLAINT NOTHING WAS RESOLVED. WELL RECENTLY I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH MY INFANT AND TODDLER IN THE CAR GOING 35MPH AND ALL OF A SUDDEN MY STEERING WHEEL FELT LIKE IT LOCKED UP TOOK IT TO THEM ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE RECALLS AGAIN AND THEY REFUSED THEY SAID ONCE THE RECALL HAS BEEN CLOSED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. SO I HAVE RARELY BEEN DRIVING MY CAR IT DID THE SAME THING ON 07/22/18 THE STEERING WAS GONE MY CAR WAS STILL RUNNING NO INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON I STOPPED PUT IT IN LARK TURNED IT OFF WAITED 10 MINS STARTED IT AND HAD NO POWER STEERING I TRIED TO DRIVE IT HOME AND IT WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. I DIDN'T DRIVE IT FOR A COUPLE DAYS UNTIL YESTERDAY AND NOW THE CAR SHAKES VERY BADLY LIKE A (DEATH WOBBLE) NO MATTER WHAT SPEED AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT FEELS LIKE THE WHOLE FRONT END IS GOING TO COME RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER THE CAR. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND LOCAL DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
I WAS TURNING LEFT ONTO A CITY STREET WHEN I HEARD A LOUD SNAP AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT FELL DOWN AND STARTED TO FEEL LOOSE.
I CAN'T USE POWER STEERING FLUID IN MY CAR BECAUSE I'VE BEEN TOLD IT'S ELECTRICAL. I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY APARTMENT BUILDING AND I CAME UP TO A RED LIGHT UP THE ROAD TO TURN LEFT. I STOPPED AT THE LIGHT FOR A MINUTE, AS THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN I CONTINUED AN THATS WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I COULDN'T BARELY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL AND ITS HARD AN THATS WHEN "POWER STEERING" POPPED UP ON MY DASH. MY STEERING WHEEL SHAKES UNCONTROLLABLY AND I'M SCARED TO DRIVE IT AND ITS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM MY JOB.
WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND EVEN IN IDLE THE STEERING WHEEL SOMETIMES WILL LOCK. IT HAS HAPPENED WHILE MAKING TURNS, GOING AROUND ROUNDABOUTS, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND ON A REGULAR 15 MIN. WORK COMMUTE. THE CAR WILL BEEP AS IF THE TRUNK IS OPEN. THE BEEPING IS RIGHT BEFORE THE STIFFNESS OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION AND TURN THE IGNITION BACK ON IN ORDER TO PROCEED IN DRIVING. IF YOU'RE IN MOTION IT'S BEST TO PULL OVER DUE TO THE ENGINE SOMETIMES LAG WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR BACK UP. ONCE IT IS STARTING, IT DRIVES JUST FINE. I'VE SEEN TONS OF PEOPLE WITH THIS EXACT PROBLEM IN REGARDS TO THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE. IT COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS IF OUR STEERING WHEEL LOCKS AND WE'RE UNABLE TO JUST PULL OVER TO SAFETY. SINCE OUR CAR IS MOSTLY ELECTRICAL IT'S NOT AS IF WE COULD JUST CHECK THE STEERING FLUID. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST ONCE A DAY.

BACKING UP IN PARKING LOT, TURNING, CAR HAD HARD TIME TURNING, TURNED OTHER WAY AND IT FELT LIKE IT JERKED, ( SKIPPED A FEW TEETH) NOW STEERING OUT OF ALIGNMENT AND WON'T STEER VERY GOOD. HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO SONS HOUSE.

DRIVER'S SEAT IS WOBBLING AND FEELS LIKE SOMETHING IS BROKEN OR DETACHED BENEATH THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE SEAT. I'VE READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS IN A CHEVY MALIBU/MAXX. SHOULD BE A RECALL. MECHANICS ON THE PHONE ASSUME IT'S A WELDING ISSUE. THE WOBBLING OCCURRED OVER TIME. SHOULDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE VIN WAS INVALID.

THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) IN 2014. IT WAS UNKNOWN IF THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
IN 2014 CHEVY ISSUED A RECALL ON THEIR MOTOR TORQUE SENSORS IN REGARD TO THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING. WE PROCEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR IN TO THE LOCAL CHEVY SERVICE CENTER AND HAD THE REPLACEMENT PUT IN. IN THE PAST MONTH THE SENSOR HAS GONE OUT AND THE POWER STEERING NO LONGER WORKS AS THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP LOOKED IT OVER AND STATED THAT THE MOTOR TORQUE SENSOR NEEDED REPLACED WHICH WAS FIXED BACK IN 2014 UNDER THE RECALL NOTICE. GM WAS CONTACTED AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX THE PROBLEM THAT HAS COME FORTH 4 YEARS LATER MAKING IT SEEM AS IF GM TRULY FIXED THE PROBLEM. AFTER EXTENSIVE RESEARCH IT SEEMS THAT THIS IS A CONTINUED PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND GM NEEDS TO REMEDY THE THE PROBLEM.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING) IN 2014. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AGAIN, BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
