TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE PARKING AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000. *TR
HARD TO TURN STEERING LEFT 4 BRIEF MOMENT. POWER STEERING LIGHT DISPLAY???? *TR
ON ACCEL LOSS OF POWER STEERING ASSIST ,STEERING VERY HARD TO MOVE HIT BRAKE TO SLOW DOWN STEERING RECOVERED. ACCELERATED VEHICLE AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO REPRODUCE EFFECT MENTION ABOVE. STEERING VERY HARD TO TURN IN THE MORNING HOURS AND LOSE OF STEERING HAPPENS. *TR
ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO (2012) MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TROUBLE STARTING. WHEN MY CAR WOULD NOT START I WOULD WAIT FOR A MINUTE AND THEN TRY TO TURN VEHICLE ON AGAIN. SOMETIMES THIS 'WAITING' TECHNIQUE WOULD WORK, OTHER TIMES IT WOULD NOT. WHEN IT WOULD NOT WORK I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE MY CAR JUMPED AND ONLY THEN WOULD MY VEHICLE TURN ON. AFTER GOING TO COUNTLESS MECHANICS, INCLUDING THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP, I HAD MY IGNITION KEYHOLE REPLACED A FEW MONTHS AFTER THIS INCIDENT BEGAN. THE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED THE KEYHOLE ONLY DID SO BECAUSE HE-LIKE EVERY OTHER MECHANIC WHO LOOKED AT MY CAR- COULD NOT FIND ANY OTHER PROBLEMS THAT WOULD CAUSE MY CAR NOT TO START. HOWEVER, ONLY A COUPLE OF MONTHS AFTER THE KEYHOLE WAS REPLACED THE PROBLEM RE-APPEARED AND HAS PERSISTED EVER SINCE. THE MOST TROUBLE I HAVE HAD WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2013 WHEN MY CAR HAD TO BE JUMPED 3 TIMES BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT START NO MATTER HOW MUCH TIME I LET THE CAR REST. I HAVE HAD MY BATTERY CHECKED TO SEE IF THAT WAS THE PROBLEM, BUT IT NEVER WAS. I FEEL LIKE MY CAR HAS THE MOST TROUBLE STARTING IN EXTREME WEATHER CONDITIONS (EXTREMELY HOT,COLD OR HUMID). THESE INCIDENTS HAPPEN AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH WITH THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT BEING JUST LAST WEEK. *TR
GAS FUEL GAUGE GOES TO EMPTY/THEN FULL, UNKNOWN HOW MUCH GAS IS IN TANK. WHEN IN THE MIDWESTERN PARTS OF THE COUNTRY, DURING WINTER MONTHS YOU DO WANT TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL IS IN TANK. *TR
I WAS WORKING ON MY MOTHER-IN-LAWS MALIBU OUT IN THE FRONT YARD AND CRANK IT AFTER LOOKING INTO SOME OTHER ISSUES THIS CAR HAS, AND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNS ITSELF ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT ON IT'S OWN.I THEN TRY TO TURN IT BACK AND NOTICE THERE IS NO POWER ASSIST. I ASK HER ABOUT IT AND SHE SAID IT HAS DONE THAT A FEW TIMES RECENTLY, WHERE SHE IS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, AS EXPLAINED BY OTHERS, A LOT OF DINGING AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING. THANK GOD THIS HASN'T HAPPENED WHILE SHE WAS IN A TURN OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT YET, HOWEVER IF IT DOES, SHE IS 66 YEARS OLD WITH NECK INJURIES AND BACK PROBLEMS, AND IF I HAD TO GUESS WILL NOT BE ABLE TO OVERPOWER THE STEERING WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST OPERATING PROPERLY. IN LOOKING OVER THIS WEBSITE, I NOTICE OTHERS HAVE PAID UPWARDS OF $700 TO HAVE THIS ISSUE FIXED AT NO FAULT OF THEIR OWN. HOW MANY OTHERS DOES IT TAKE TO NOTICE THAT TRANS-CANADA HAD A RECALL ON THIS A FEW YEARS BACK AND THE US HAS NEVER HAD AN OFFICIAL SAFETY RECALL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON 11/18/2012, WHEN A CAR CUT ACROSS ALL THREE LANES. IT HAD NOT BEEN RAINING, AND THE ROADS WERE DRY, BUT WHEN I APPLIED MY BRAKES TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR THAT CUT ME OFF, MY WHEELS LOCKED UP SENDING ME FISHTAILING AT 70+ MPH. I SLID INTO THE CENTER LANE, STRIKING A VEHICLE ON MY RIGHT REAR CORNER PANEL. I THEN REPEATEDLY TRIED TO PUMP MY BRAKES AND TURN INTO THE SKID TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AND EACH TIME THE WHEELS LOCKED UP AGAIN. AFTER FAILING TO REGAIN CONTROL OF MY VEHICLE I HIT THE CENTER GUARD RAIL, STILL GOING 60+ MPH, COLLAPSING THE WHOLE LEFT SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. AFTER SKIDDING TO A STOP, MY "SERVICE AIRBAG" WARNING CAME UP ON MY CENTER DASHBOARD DISPLAY, WITHOUT EVEN DEPLOYING. MY CAR HAS BEEN DEEMED TOTALED BY INSURANCE, AND IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE. I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN THE CAR AT THE TIME, AND EMT'S AND FIRE FIGHTERS THAT ARRIVED TO THE SCENE SAID IF IT WEREN'T FOR THE LACK OF CARS ON THE ROAD, I MAY NOT HAVE SURVIVED.
WHEN PULLING OUT FROM A STOP AND MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN THE POWER STEERING QUITS - MAKING IT VERY HARD TO STEER, POWER STEERING COMES UP IN THE DISPLAY CENTER, AND THE WARNING CENTER DING IS SOUNDED. STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT ONCE A WEEK AND NOW HAPPENS A COUPLE TIMES EACH TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN. WHEN THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED EVERYTHING IS BACK TO NORMAL, UNTIL IT HAPPENS AGAIN WHEN MAKING ONE OF YOUR NEXT RIGHT TURNS. *TR
VEHICLE BEGAN STALLING. THEN, I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE, AND SUDDENLY GAS WAS POURING OUT NEAR THE MUFFLER ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR. TRACED THE LEAK ONCE WE GOT IT HOME. THE PLASTIC LINE ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD CRACKED. I LOST OVER 1/8 OF A TANK AFTER I PARKED IT. I'M NOT SURE EXACTLY HOW MUCH I LOST WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I AM THANKFUL THAT THERE WERE NO SPARKS BEFORE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PARK THE CAR. I FEAR FOR THE SAFETY OF MY YOUNG CHILDREN. I MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET THEM OUT OF THEIR CAR SEATS FAST ENOUGH HAD I NOT IMMEDIATELY TAKEN PRECAUTION. *TR
TURNED LEFT ONTO AN UPHILL ROAD AND GAVE IT A GOOD AMOUNT OF GAS TO ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED. HAD THE RPMS UP AND IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN THE STEERING WHEEL JUST LOCKED UP. I IMMEDIATELY LET OFF THE GAS AND THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL. IT WAS QUITE UNNERVING BUT I WORKED ON MANY CARS YEARS AGO AND REACT ACCORDINGLY TO THINGS LIKE STUCK THROTTLES, AND THIS. I JUST BOUGHT THE CAR SO I DON'T KNOW THE HISTORY OF IT OTHER THAN THE CARFAX CHECK WAS CLEAN. IT APPEAR THAT I SHOULD HAVE DONE MY RESEARCH ON THIS VEHICLE WITH THIS STEERING PROBLEM BEFORE BUYING IT. THERE ARE SO MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE THAT I CANNOT BELIEVE A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN PERFORMED. HOWEVER, THERE IS A SERVICE BULLETIN THAT EXTENDS THE WARRANTY ON THIS ITEM, TO ANY OWNER, TO TEN YEARS AND 150 K MILES. DO A SEARCH FOR IT ONLINE. GM WILL REPLACE THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. THIS IS PROBABLY WHAT I WILL END UP DOING. *TR
SEPTEMBER 2012 I HAD BOTH FRONT DRIVE AXLES REPLACED BECAUSE THERE WAS SHAKING IN THE STEERING AND THE MECHANIC SAID IT WAS THOSE AXLES. MAY 2013 THE SHAKING WAS STILL VERY PERSISTENT AND I WAS HEARING A POPPING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS. MECHANIC REPLACED THE SWAY BARS. THIS STILL DIDNT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. 6-3-13 WHEN DRIVING ABOUT 25MPH "POWER STEERING" CAME UP ON RADIO DIAL AND CAR WAS VERY HARD TO STEER. AFTER TURNING CAR OFF AND RESTARTING DIDNT HAVE A PROBLEM. IT HAS DONE THIS MANY TIMES SINCE THEN. TODAY 06-17-13 I STILL HAVE POWER STEERING, BUT NOW THERE IS A SCRUBBING SOUND AND THE STEERING WHEEL IS REAL "JERKY" WHEN TURNING THE WHEELS, ESPECIALLY TO THE LEFT. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT I AM GOING TO LOSE MY POWER STEERING WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AND I WONT BE ABLE TO CONTROL THE CAR. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IMMEDIATLY BEFORE LIVES OUR LOST. *TR
STEERING WHEEL LOCKED 3 TIMES WITHIN A 0.5 MILE DISTANCE DRIVING NO MORE THAN 25 MPH WHILE MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR WITH ME. *TR
WHILE ACCELERATING ON TO THE FREEWAY, MORE WHILE HITTING THE PASSING GEAR, POWER STEERING IS ALL OF A SUDDEN LOST OR EVEN CORRECTING ITSELF BACK TO CENTER. THE "POWER STEERING" MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE RADIO DISPLAY AND A CLICKING SOUND IS MADE. IT HAS SINCE HAPPENED AT SLOWER SPEEDS AS WELL. IT FEELS LIKE A VERY UNSAFE PROBLEM AND IT SEEMS VERY COMMON AMONG CHEVROLET OWNERS OF VARIOUS MODELS AROUND THAT YEAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ILLUMINATED DESPITE THE BRAKE PEDAL NOT BEING DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT PURCHASED A BRAKE SENSOR FROM A DEALER AND INSTALLED THE COMPONENT HIMSELF HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. HE THEN INSTALLED A SECOND SENSOR BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 224,821.
WAS MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN TO ENTER ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY AND STEERING EITHER LOCKED UP OR BECAME VERY HARD TO STEER (IT ALL HAPPENED QUICKLY) CAUSING THE CAR TO HIT THE CURB AND SEVERELY DAMAGING THE WHEEL, ALIGNMENT, ETC. GM REPLACED THE FAULTY POWER STEERING BOX (RECALL) BUT HAS FOUND THEMSELVES NOT LIABLE FOR THE COLLATERAL DAMAGE SUSTAINED BECAUSE OF THE FAULTY POWER STEERING. GM SAYS I HAVE NO PROOF THAT THE DAMAGE THAT IS VISIBLE ON THE VEHICLE WAS DIRECTLY CAUSED BY STEERING FAILURE. REALLY??!! I'VE ALWAYS BEEN A BIG CHEVY FAN, BUT THIS LEAVES A VERY BITTER TASTE THAT MAY NEVER GO AWAY!!!!! *TR *JS
BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON, OR WOULD STAY ON. SPEED CONTROL COULD BE ACTIVATED, BUT WOULD KICK OFF BY ITSELF. WOULD NOT PASS INSPECTION BECAUSE AGENT SAID BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK. TOOK CAR TO DEALER BUT THEIR REPAIRS DID NOT FIX CAR. *TR
WHEN FIRST STARTING THE CAR AND ALSO WHILE DRIVING THE AIR BAG INDICATOR COMES ON AND INFORMATION CENTER READS SERVICE AIR BAG ALONG WITH AN ALARM. WHEN THIS HAPPENS ALL THE ABOVE-MENTIONED WARNING LIGHTS AND READ OUT MAY STAY ON FOR THE ENTIRE RIDE OR GO OFF SHORTLY AFTER COMING ON. HAS NOT AFFECTED THE DRIVING OR HANDLING OF VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF THIS HAPPENS BEFORE AN ACCIDENT WILL THE AIR BAGS DEPLOY. *TR
2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU, INTERMITTENTLY WON'T START. WILL START WITH REMOTE START KEY FOB ONLY. STRANDS ME DAILY DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. REPLACED STARTER LAST YEAR WITH NO RESOLVE, NOW OCCURS RANDOMLY WITH NO RHYME OR REASON. READ ONLINE FORUMS SEEMS TO BE THE ANTI THEFT PASSIVE LOCK SYSTEM FAILING TO ALLOW THE CAR TO START. *JS
WHILE I AM DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL WILL LOCK UP AND MY DASH BOARD WILL START BLINKING THEN THE MESSAGE CENTER WILL SAY "POWER STEERING" NOW EVERYTIME I AM GET TO 45 MPH THE MESSAGE CENTER WILL START BLINKING. *TR

THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO JERK. SO I PUT OFF THE ROAD TURN THE CAR OFF LOOK UNDER THE HOOD FOR A POWER STEERING PUMP FLUID HOLDER NOTICE THERE WASN'T ONE. SO I STARTED THE CAR AND IT DROVE FINE. SO LATELY, IT KEEP HAPPEN VERY OFTEN BUT THE CHEVROLET COMPANY SAY THAT IT IS NOT A DEFECT IN THE CAR. BUT I HAVE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM THAT I AM HAVING WITH THIS CAR. I HAVE CARRY THE CAR IN TO GET IT SERVICE TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT AND IT WAS THE POWER STEERING COLUMN. THE DEALER WITH NOT PAID FOR IT BECAUSE I HAVE TO MANY MILES ON MY CAR. BUT IF I HAVE ONLY 150,000 MILES THEY WOULD. BECAUSE THE MECHANIC SAY THAT IT IS NOT A DEFECT IN THE POWER STEERING THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX IT. IT'S CAUSE I HAVE A LOT OF MILES ON IT AND THAT I DIDN'T BUY IT NEW ACCORDING TO THE CHEVROLET COMPANY BUT IF THERE ARE A LOT COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME THING THEN I FEEL THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE CAR NOT HOW MANY MILES YOU PUT ON THE CAR. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING. *TR
FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING. (1) IT IS ALWAYS AT FULL. I CAN'T TELL HOW MUCH FUEL IS LEFT. ONE TIME MY CAR STOPPED AND ENGINE TURNED OFF WHILE DRIVING. THIS TIME I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH BECAUSE MY CAR WAS IN PARKING LOTS. (1) IT IS ALWAYS AT FULL, BUT INTERMITTENTLY DROPS FROM FULL TO EMPTY,AND BEEPS LOW FUEL MESSAGE. AND THEN AFTER SECONDS IT BOUNCES BACK TO FULL. AFTER SEVERAL ROUNDS, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL TURN ON. SEARCHED THE WEB - SEEMS LIKE PLENTY OF THE SAME COMPLAINTS. *TR
POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, STEERING STIFFENED. UNABLE TO TURN CAR. PUT CAR IN NEUTRAL, TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, UNTIL I COULD STEER CAR INTO A PARKING LOT. EACH RESTART GAVE ME A FEW SECONDS OF STEERING. DEALER REPLACED ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MOTOR, OTHER ADJUSTMENTS, PLUS $115 CHARGE TO DIAGNOSE, PLUS RENTAL CAR FOR 3 DAYS: FOR A TOTAL REPAIR COST OF $1,023.36. *TR

THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE WAS A POPPING NOISE AND VIBRATION WHILE DECELERATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP WHO REPLACED THE RACK AND PINION, THE OUTER TIE ROD, THE BRAKES AND DRUMS. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE WAS REPORTED TO THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 100,000...UPDATED 08-07-13 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE RACK AND PINION, AS WELL AS THE OUTER TIE RODS WERE REPLACED TWICE, AND THE CONSUMER CONTINUES TO EXPERIENCE PROBLEMS. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE RACK AND PINION AND OUTER TIE RODS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH ON A RAMP, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY TIGHT AND THE CONTACT HAD TO USE EXTREME FORCE TO MOVE THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND IT RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED VIOLENTLY, CAUSING THE CONTACT'S HANDS TO BE THROWN FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. THE STEERING WHEEL REGAINED NORMAL FUNCTION AS THE CONTACT DECELERATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED NUMEROUS TIMES, ONLY LASTING MOMENTARILY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY FAULTY ELECTRONICS IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 88,000.
TL- THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING TO APPROACH A STOP OR WHEN A TURN WAS MADE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY HARD TO TURN. THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO TURN THE WHEEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN AND THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CONTACT WAS NOT ABLE TO TURN THE KEY TO START THE IGNITION ALONG WITH THE VEHICLE STALLING INTERMITTENTLY. THE ANTI-THEFT SENSOR ILLUMINATED, SERVICE ENGINE SENSOR AND A LOCK SYMBOL ON THE RADIO CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THE RADIO WAS NOT WORKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000. DYD

WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE I WAS BEING FOLLOWED BY MY DAUGHTER WHO THOUGHT I WAS RIDING MY BRAKES. FIRST, THEN THEY WOULD CHECK STEERING COLUMN WHICH WOULD INVOLVE ADDITIONAL COST. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY FOR REPAIR & ENDED UP BRINGING CAR HOME SAFELY AFTER PAYING FOR DIAGNOSIS. I HAVE THE INVOICE WHICH THEY GAVE WITH THEIR RECOMMENDATIONS AND MY DECLINE OF SERVICE. I WAS DRIVING AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT-COMPLETELY. IT WAS THE HARDEST THING TO TURN THAT I HAVE EVER DRIVEN AND I OWN A 66 MUSTANG THAT WAS NOT EQUIPPED WITH POWER STEERING. MY FATHER-IN LAW BUILDS/DESIGNS PRODUCTION CARS FOR A LIVING AND HE TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALERSHIP HE WORKS WITH AND THEY TOLD HIM THAT THE DEFECTIVE PART GOES OUT ABOUT EVERY 30,000 MILES. THE COST TO REPLACE JUST THE PART IS AROUND $800 WITHOUT LABOR. WHEN DRIVING AND TURNING TO THE RIGHT..THE STEERING GETS STIFF AND THE POWER STEERING ALARM COMES ON. ONCE STOPPED I CAN TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND CRANK IT AGAIN...THE POWER STEERING RESETS. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH MY POWER STEERING OVER THE YEARS. BUT THIS WAS THE WORST IT HAS EVER BEEN. I WAS DRIVING 55 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY. THE ROADS WERE CLEAR ON THIS SPRING DAY. MY TRACTION CONTROL, BRAKE LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN THE POWER STEERING WAS CHIMING AND THE ALERT CAME ON FOR THAT WHICH EFFECTED MY POWER STEERING. THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS FLASHING ON AND OFF ALONG WITH THE GAUGES NOT WORKING CORRECTLY. THEN THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WENT COMPLETELY OUT. SO THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WAS REPLACED. A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER, THIS ALL REPEATED AGAIN. SO THIS TIME THE IGNITION WAS REPLACED. AFTER ALL THAT, THE POWER STEERING STILL CHIMES AND ALERTS STILL COME ON WHICH MAKES IT HARDER TO STEER. THEN I HAVE TO STOP THE CAR, TURN IT OFF, WAIT AND RESTART IT. THEN IT IS FINE FOR A WHILE. MY MECHANIC SAYS THE ONLY CODE THAT SHOWS UP IS FOR THE 14772 RECALL. BUT MY CAR IS NOT PART OF THAT RECALL SINCE IT WAS MANUFACTURED IN JANUARY OF 2006. PLEASE DO SOME RESEARCH AND EXPAND THE CURRENT RECALL TO INCLUDE ALL 2006-2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU AND MALIBU MAXX VEHICLES. REPAIRS NEED TO BE DONE ON THESE VEHICLES ASAP TO ANY FATAL OR POTENTIAL CRASHES.

SINCE WE HAVE PURCHASED THE CAR WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY 3 DIFFERENT TIMES, EACH TIME WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY WE TAKE IT TO THE SHOP AND LET THEM TEST THE BATTERY AND THERE IS ALWAYS A DEAD CELL IN THE BATTERY.THE BATTERY IS ONLY LASTING FROM 4 TO 6 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AND NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT IS GOING ON.
