WHILE ON THE ROAD, MY STEERING WHEEL STARTED JAMMING UP AND THEN STRUCK, DASH BOARD LIGHT ILLUMINATED. AFTER RESTARTING ENGINE, IT WORKED FINE. FOR HAVING THIS PROBLEM REPEATED FOR SEVERAL TIMES, I GOT THE APPOINTMENT WITH DEALERSHIP AND CALLED CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I WAS TOLD OF THE PROBLEM BEING KNOWN AND COMMON IN ALL THE 2006 MALIBU AND OTHER MAKE AND MODEL IN WHICH SUCH POWER STEERING MODULE/ PARTS HAVE BEEN USED. WHEN I ASKED, WHY I WAS NOT INFORMED OF SUCH PROBLEM, I WAS TOLD THAT IT WILL REPAIR AT NO COST IF ONLY THE PROBLEM IS DUPLICATED AT THE SHOP. AFTER REPAIR ON (FEB 01 20011), IN A PHONE CALL, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS NO PAPER WORK FOR PROBLEM/RECALL/ WARRANTY/ WHAT SO EVER, BUT THE WORK IS COVERED FOR 12 MONTHS AND/OR 12000 MILES ALTOGETHER. THIS PARTICULAR CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION'S ATTENTION UNDER LEMON LAW IN 2008, BUT IT WAS NOT JUSTIFIED BASED ON HEARING WAS SCHEDULED AFTER ALLOWED TIMELINE. WHAT A BUMMER!!! THIS TIME KNOWING THE PROBLEM, GMC IS NOT RECALLING OR ADDRESSING IT BEFORE ANY DISASTER STRIKE AND SOMEONE LOOSE HIS/HER LIFE. THANKS A LOT CHEVY.... TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO SHAKE AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE STEERING COMPLETELY LOCKED UP MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE COMMUTING TO WORK ON I-95, SOUTH, IN MAINE. ONE TIME IN PARTICULAR, NOTED ABOVE, IN WHICH IT WAS ABSOLUTELY FRIGHTENING. THE ENTIRE DASH WOULD LIGHT UP AND ALL GAUGES WOULD DROP, THE POWER STEERING WOULD COMPLETELY LOCK, AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO SLOWLY MAKE YOUR WAY TO THE SIDE OF ROAD. THERE WERE ALWAYS STEERING, SHIFTING, LOCKING, BRAKING, CONCERNS WITH THIS CAR. WE WERE CONSTANTLY BRINGING IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT FOR TRANSMISSION AND STEERING ISSUES. AFTER MULTIPLE RECALLS, I THOUGHT IT BEST TO STATE THAT THIS CAR IS TRULY UNSAFE. AT THIS POINT WE HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR SO LONG, IT IS MORE OF JUST A REASSURANCE THAT SOMEONE IS SERIOUSLY LOOKING INTO THE MANUFACTURING OF THESE VEHICLES. WE CANT SEEM TO GET MUCH LUCK WITH REPAIRS, AND EVEN ISSUES THAT ARE COMPLETELY RELATED TO THESE RECALLS, WE ARE STILL PAYING FOR OUT OF POCKET. WE NO LONGER DRIVE IT ON THE HIGHWAY, IF AVOIDABLE, BUT WE DO STILL HAVE TO USE IT AS A COMMUTING VEHICLE TO WORK ON OTHER ROADS DAILY. WE WOULD LOVE TO SEE THE ENTIRE VEHICLE RECALLED, AS IT IS TRULY CONCERNING THAT THE COMPANY FINDS THESE ISSUES TO BE MINOR REPAIRS. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD REMAIN ILLUMINATED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE NOT APPLIED. WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO CORRECT THE FAILURE BY SWITCHING THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON AND OFF TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACT FURTHER INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS CONNECTOR FROM THE FLOORBOARD TO THE FUSE PANEL WAS THE CAUSE AS IT HAD NOT SUFFICIENTLY MAINTAINED ELECTRICAL CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE JERKED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V224000 (POWER TRAIN) EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 98,000.
I HAVE A CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX AND THE POWER STEERING HAS FAILED ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS WHEN I WAS TAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED HALF WAY THROUGH THE TURN. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OFF INTO A PARKING LOT AND TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A DING AND THE FRONT DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING." THE NEXT DAY WHEN REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING LOT I HAD THE SAME THING HAPPEN ALTHOUGH THIS TIME THE STEERING WHEEL SHIMMIED, THEN THE DING, FAILURE OF POWER STEERING, AND THE DISPLAY. I WAS ONCE AGAIN ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND RESTART. UPON RESTARTING THE POWER STEERING RESUMED. SINCE THESE TWO INCIDENTS I HAVE NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS A LITTLE WITH ANY TURNS. I AM SO GLAD I WAS NOT GOING AT A FAST SPEED OR IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AS AN ACCIDENT DEFINITELY COULD HAVE BEEN CAUSED. I HAVE CALLED AND REPORTED IT TO CHEVROLET AND SET UP AN APPT WITH A DEALER ON MONDAY. CHEVROLET STATED THAT IT IS INFACT A "SPECIAL COVERAGE ON POWER STEERING" AND IN OTHER CASES HAVE INVOLVED REPLACING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN. I AM SHOCKED THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN A RECALL AND THAT OTHER CUSTOMERS ARE PUT IN THIS DANGER. THANK YOU FOR LOOKING FURTHER INTO THIS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU LT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE AND FUEL LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SHUT OFF. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE IN FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 83,000.
SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON PREMATURELY DO NOT KNOW IF BAGS WILL DEPLOY WITHOUT AN ACCIDENT. I AM NOT FAMILIAR WITH AIRBAG SYSTEM SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT RECOURSE I SHOULD TAKE. 2006 CHEVY MALIBU. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CHEVY MALIBU BRAND NEW IN 2006. I HAVE JUST TURNED 60,000 MILES HOWEVER MY DRIVER SEAT BRACKET HAS BEEN BROKE SINCE 49,000 MILES. THIS IS THE SECOND LEMON VEHICLE I HAVE BOUGHT THAT IS A GM PRODUCT. I HAVE HAD 3 STEERING SHAFTS ALSO REPLACED. I JUST WISH GM WOULD LOOK AT THIS AS A SAFETY HAZARD. IF THEY ARE WILLING TO SLEEP AT NIGHT KNOWING THAT OUR LIVES ARE AT RISK THEN SO BE IT. WHAT HAPPENED TO STANDING BEHIND YOUR PRODUCT. WHILE DRIVING MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE STAYING ON, I ONLY KNOW WHEN SOMEONE TELLS ME I HAVE BEEN TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP SINCE 2007 AND THE PROBLEM STILL HAS NOT BEEN FIXED. I HAVE CARS HUNK THE HORNS AT ME AND OTHER DRIVERS ARE FLASHING THEIR LIGHTS BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW IF I AM STOPPING OR GOING. *TR
THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE TIMES SINCE I HAVE BOUGHT MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX LT THAT THE POWER STEERING LOCKS UP CAUSING ME TO TEMPORARILY LOSE CONTROL OF MY CAR. THIS USUALLY HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING. THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP AND IT STAYS IN ITS LAST POSITION AND THE CAR DINGS. I HAVE NO MESSAGE ON MY DASH OR RADIO. USUALLY LETTING OFF THE GAS CORRECTS THE ISSUE WITHIN A COUPLE SECONDS. IN THOSE SECONDS BEFORE I REGAIN CONTROL OF MY CAR, I HAVE NO CONTROL TO KEEP ME FROM HITTING SOMETHING. I'VE SEEN MANY REPORTS ONLINE FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I'VE READ SOME THAT HAVE SAID IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR ALMOST CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE CHEVY COBALT FOR THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
I OWNED A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU,IN WHICH I HAVE ONLY HAD 1 1/2 YEARS,THE FACTORY WARRANTY JUST EXPIRED 3 MONTHS AGO. I AM NOW HAVING VERY SERIOUS PROBLEMS WITH THE POWER STEERING (EPS) IT HAS A TENDENCY TO GO OUT ON ME EVERYTIME I TURN LEFT IF I TURN THE WHEEL ALL THE WAY TO THE LEFT OR IF I JUST TURN IT A LITTLE BIT JUST ENOUGH TO MAKE THE TURN I CAN FILL THE STIFFNESS IN IT AS IF ITS GETTING READY TO SHUT DOWN,THIS HAS HAPPEN OFF AND ON FOR 2 WEEKS NOW AND ONCE IT SHUTS DOWN I HAVE TO CUT THE CAR ALL THE WAY OFF AND CRANK IT BACK UP AND THEN THE POWER STEERING IS RESTORED,THIS NEVER HAPPENS WHEN I TURN TO THE RIGHT IT JUST GO ALONG AS IF NOTHING IS WRONG. I CONSIDER THIS PRETTY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT CAN HAPPEN TO ME IN TRAFFIC AFTER MAKING A LEFT TURN AND GET ME HIT IN THE REAR SERIOUSLY. I HAVE BEEN ONLINE READING SOME OF THE OTHER COMMENTS WITH THE CHEVY MALIBU AND ALL THEM SEEM TO EXPERIENCE MY PROBLEMS AS WELL. I HAVE MADE AN APPT AT THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT TO SEE WHAT OFFICIALLY IS THE PROBLEM WITH IT AND HAVE IT FIXED.BUT,I REALLY THINK THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON ALL THE VEHICLES WITH THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING BECAUSE THERE IS A GLITCH SOMEWHERE IN THE SYSTEM THAT IS KILLING THE CONSUMER'S POCKET. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE WAS INOPERATIVE AND WOULD READ THAT THE TANK WAS EITHER EMPTY OR FULL ERRONEOUSLY. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT WOULD ALSO ILLUMINATE INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000. UPDATED 11/16/11*LJ THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS CLOGGED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE IN PASSING GEAR. UPDATED 11/30/11
LETTER FROM SENATOR NELSON ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT REGARDING STEERING PROBLEMS ON HER 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU; PLEASE SEND RESPONSE DIRECTLY TO SENATOR OFFICE AND REFERENCE CONSTITUENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS FAILED TO RETRACT CAUSING THE BRAKES TO OVERHEAT AND CATCH FIRE. THE MECHANIC STATED IT MAY HAVE BEEN DUE TO A FACTORY FLAW AS HE HAD NEVER SEEN BOTH CALIPERS FAIL TOGETHER. THE BRAKE CALIPER SEALS WERE MELTED FROM HEAT AND THEY WERE CRACKED/DRY ROTTED LETTING THE CALIPER SLEEVE RUST. A MONTH PRIOR, THE CONSUMER NOTICED THE POWER STEERING SEEMED STIFF AND THE VEHICLE BECAME DIFFICULT TO STEER, THE CONSUMER DID RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING A POTENTIAL PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. ON DECEMBER 20, 2011 THE CONSUMER EXPERIENCED ANOTHER STEERING FAILURE, SLOW ACCELERATION, AND OVERHEATING OF THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE MECHANIC BELIEVED THERE WAS PROBABLY CONTAMINATION IN THE BRAKE FLUID, AS IT WAS MILKY. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THAT ALL THE RUBBER COMPONENTS IN THE BRAKE AND ABS BE REPLACED DUE TO THE CONTAMINATION. *JB

THE FAILURE OCCURRED EVERYTIME THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,528. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,400.
I'VE ONLY OWNED THE 2006 CHEVY MALIBU FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING BUT ON 9/27/2010 I WAS MAKING A SLOW TURN INTO A SCHOOL LOT AND THE STEERING WENT OUT THANKFULLY I WAS ALREADY COMING TO A STOP. IT ALSO HAS ALWAYS MADE A NOISE WHEN TURNING HOWEVER I DO NOT KNOW IF THESE PROBLEMS ARE RELATED. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL GM DEALER AND THEY SAID TO BRING IT IN SO WE'LL SEE WHAT HAPPENS. *TR
THE POWER STEERING WILL GO OFF AS YOU ARE DRIVING. SOMETIMES IT WILL JUST BECOME HARDER TO STEER AS YOU DECREASE SPEED, AND SOMETIMES YOU HAVE TO STOP, TURN OFF THE MOTOR AND THE STEERING WILL RESET. VERY DISTURBING AND QUITE DANGEROUS. *TR
ON A 2006 MALIBU, THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN THE PAST 10 MONTHS. EACH TIME THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE LUCKILY. IN 5 DAYS, THE CAR GETS TAKEN IN TO HAVE THE STEERING COLUMN AND RACK AND PINION STEERING REPLACED. THE FIRST FAILURE WAS AT APPROXIMATELY, 50,000 MILES, THE SECOND WAS AT APPROXIMATELY 65,000 AND THE THIRD AT ABOUT 80,000. THE CAR IS AT 95,000 MILES NOW WHICH IS A LOT, BUT TO HAVE THE POWER STEERING REPLACED AT A CERTIFIED MECHANIC SOON TO BE 4 TIMES WITHIN A YEAR IS NOT GOOD. THE ELECTRICAL ASSIST POWER STEERING AND ALL ASSOCIATED DESIGNS IS UNSAFE AS THE WHEEL IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN WHEN FAILURE OCCURS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY AND ONLY FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN FUNCTIONED PROPERLY. ALSO THE CONTACT STATED SOMETIMES THE IGNITION WOULD HAVE TO BE TURNED OFF IN ORDER FOR THE POWER STEERING TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR BUT THERE WAS AN APPOINTMENT SET. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.
I WAS STAYING AT A FRIEND'S HOUSE IN SAN ANTONIO BECAUSE I HAD A COURT SETTING THERE. THE MORNING OF THE INCIDENT, I TURNED ON MY VEHICLE AND WAS HEADED TO THE COURTHOUSE. I WAS ABOUT TWO BLOCKS FROM MY FRIEND'S HOME WHEN I HEARD A DING AND A POWER STEERING MESSAGE POPPED UP ON THE RADIO. MY POWER STEERING IMMEDIATELY WENT OUT, AND I PULLED MYSELF INTO AN APARTMENT COMPLEX AND TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE. I CALLED A FRIEND FOR A RIDE AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL AAA WHEN I REALIZED I WAS IN THE WAY OF A SCHOOL BUS PICKING UP COLLEGE STUDENTS FROM THE COMPLEX. I TURNED THE VEHICLE BACK ON TO INCH UP A BIT, BUT I NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING AGAIN. I RETURNED TO MY FRIEND'S HOME, GOT A RIDE TO THE COURTHOUSE, AND RESEARCHED THE ISSUE ONLINE. I FOUND SEVERAL OTHER REPORTS OF THIS KIND OF THING HAPPENING AND THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY A COMPUTER GLITCH THAT COULD AND WOULD OCCUR AGAIN UNEXPECTEDLY. I TOOK MY CHANCES DRIVING BACK HOME TO AUSTIN THAT SAME DAY AND DID NOT TOUCH MY VEHICLE OVER THE WEEKEND. NOW THAT IT IS MONDAY, I WILL BE CALLING GM CUSTOMER SUPPORT. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU MAXX HAS LOST POWER STEERING THREE TIMES. IT HAS BEEN TO THE MECHANIC TWICE. DRIVING AT ANY TIME, BUT ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS ON THE HIGHWAY, IS FRIGHTENING BECAUSE THE POWER STEERING MY GO OUT UNEXPECTEDLY. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND SHUT OFF. UPON RESTART THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO HAVE THE FAILURE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SHE WAS INFORMED HER VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN AN UNKNOWN SPECIAL CAMPAIGN AND THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL SPORADICALLY WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 78,000.

THE WHEEL IS VERY HARD TO TURN AND IS DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. SOMETIMES THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT THE WHEEL WILL TURN TO THE LEFT BY ITSELF. IF YOU SHUT THE CAR OFF AND LEAVE IT SIT FOR FIVE MINUTES IT WILL RESET ITSELF AND BE ALRIGHT FOR AWHILE AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN. GENERAL MOTORS KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM AND HAS DONE NOTHING ABOUT IT. I HAVE READ SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS AND WONDER IF SOMEONE HAS TO BE KILLED FIRST BEFORE ANYTHING IS DONE. NOW IT CLUNKS EVERY TIME YOU TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE FRONT END HAS ALWAYS ROAD RUFF LIKE A STEERING VIBRATION BUT THOUGHT IT WAS JUST THE MAKE OF THE CAR. AFTER PLUGGING IN STEERING ISSUES WITH MALIBU MAXX'S, I WAS SHOCKED TO SEE HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ON FORUMS AND CONSUMER SITES REGARDING A RANGE OF YEARS WITH THE MAXX. GM NEEDS TO WAKE UP, DOES IT TAKE PEOPLE DYING OR SERIOUSLY GETTING HURT BEFORE THEY WILL PAY ATTENTION TO ALL THESE PEOPLE AND THEIR ISSUES AND SERIOUS ONES AT THAT. I FOUND OUT TODAY THROUGH EXPERIENCE THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING LOCKS/UNLOCKS ON ITS OWN WHICH HAS CREATED AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. AS I WAS DRIVING TO WORK THIS MORNING AND AS I WAS PULLING INTO ANOTHER DRIVEWAY (MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN), THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED SO THAT I COULDN'T TURN, AND I WAS INCHES AWAY FROM HITTING A POLE. I AM FEARFUL OF THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY SINCE A CHILD RIDES IN THIS VEHICLE REGULARLY. I AM THANKFUL THAT MY CHILD WASN'T IN THE VEHICLE DURING THIS TIME. I CAME IN TO WORK TO DO SOME RESEARCH SINCE THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THERE IS NO RESERVOIR FOR THE POWER STEERING FLUID. NO PUMP, NO HOSE, NOTHING TO TOP OFF. WHAT I FOUND THROUGH MY RESEARCH IS SCARY AND IRRESPONSIBLE OF GM. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY HAZARD AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM IMMEDIATELY. THE CONTACT WOULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTART IT AGAIN IN ORDER TO RESET THE POWER STEERING. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 111,440 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
POWER STEERING FAILED ON THE HIGHWAY. WARNING LIGHT LIT UP ON DASHBOARD. CAR JERKED SHARPLY TO THE RIGHT. SEVERAL HOURS LATER SAME THING HAPPENED UPON BACKING OUT OF PARKING SPACE. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE UNDER ALL CONDITIONS. THE PROBLEM OCCURS REPEATEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. THE SAFETY ISSUE HERE IS THAT DRIVERS FOLLOWING BEHIND ARE UNABLE TO TELL IF THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE TRULY THAT BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED OR JUST A PHANTOM ISSUE WHICH COULD RESULT IN A REAR-END COLLISION. THIS ISSUE MAY OR MAY NOT BE RELATED TO ISSUES EXPERIENCED WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE EITHER NOT ENGAGING AT ALL, OR DISENGAGING ON THEIR OWN. IT MAY OR MAY NOT ALSO BE RELATED TO BRAKES AND ROTORS NEEDING REPLACEMENT MORE FREQUENTLY THAN NORMAL WEAR OR PROBLEM EXPERIENCED WITH THE REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER BEING UNRESPONSIVE. *TT
