DURING NORMAL DRIVING, POWER STEERING FAILS. WHEN CAR IS TURNED OFF AND TURNED BACK ON, POWER STEERING COMES BACK ON. *TR
MY 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU'S AIRBAGS DID NOT FUNCTION IN TWO SEPARATE HARD-HITTING CRASHES. THE CAR'S ENGINE LIGHT OFTEN COMES ON AND STAYS ON UNTIL I DRIVE OVER A LARGE BUMP IN THE ROAD OR SLAM ON MY BRAKES TO GIVE IT A JOLT. I ALSO SMELL FUEL PERIODICALLY. THE HORN HAS NOT WORKED FOR MANY YEARS. I TOOK MY CAR TO A DEALER ONCE WITH THE REQUEST TO REPLACE MY IGNITION SWITCH BECAUSE IT GETS STUCK INTERMITTENTLY, AND THEY STRANGELY REFUSED TO REPLACE IT BECAUSE "IT ISN'T MALFUNCTIONING FOR US." THIS WAS BEFORE THE RECALLS BECAME PUBLIC. THEY DID REPAIR THE "HIGH TONE" HORN BUT IT STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A FEW MONTHS. I BELIEVE I HAVE A DANGEROUS VEHICLE.
2006 CHEVY MALIBU HAS BEEN LOOSING POWER STEERING SPORADICALLY SINCE IT WAS PURCHASED. USUALLY HAPPENS ACCELERATING UP RAMPS WITH CURVES IN THEM. CHIMES GO OFF AND BATTERY LIGHT COMES ON. IF YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE GAS PEDAL, THE POWER STEERING RETURNS, BATTERY LIGHT GOES OUT AND CHIMES STOP. WE HAVE TAKEN IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT SEVERAL TIMES WITH NO RESULTS. DEALERS CANNOT FIND CAUSE, NOR DO THEY MAKE ANY REPAIRS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT COULD HEAR THE LOCKS OPENING AND CLOSING DURING HEAVY RAINSTORMS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START UNLESS IT WAS JUMP STARTED. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED ON FOUR OCCASIONS DURING HEAVY RAINSTORMS, THUNDERSTORMS, AND/OR LIGHTNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED AND CONFIRMED THAT THE STARTER, ALTERNATOR, AND BATTERY WERE NOT THE CAUSES OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE CAME STANDARD WITH AN AUTO START FEATURE AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. A MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AND REPLACED THE COMPUTER MODULE; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MOST RECENT FAILURE OCCURRED ON MAY 1, 2008. THE CONTACT WAS RESPONSIBLE FOR PAYING $2,200 FOR THE REPAIRS. HE FILED COMPLAINT NUMBER 71-625205218 WITH THE MANUFACTURER. SPEED WAS NOT A FACTOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 47,700.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO CHATTER AT VARIOUS SPEEDS UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE SERVICE DEALER, WHO COULD NOT DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. THE PARKING BRAKE CABLES WERE REPLACED. THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, WHEN THE CONSUMER DROVE OVER BUMPS. THERE WAS A NOISE COMING FROM THE AC COMPRESSOR. 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU MAXX. CONSUMER STATES BRAKE FAILURE AND INCREASED ACCELERATION *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED AS SHE MADE A RIGHT TURN INTO A PARKING SPACE, SHE APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL, AND IT WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WHICH RESULTED IN THE HER CRASHING INTO A CONCRETE PILLAR. THE CONSUMER ALSO STATED THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE HAD A SECOND ACCIDENT WHERE SHE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THEY FAILED TO RESPOND WHICH CAUSED HER TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. *JB
WE BOUGHT A 2006 CHEVY MALIBU ON 29 MAY 2006 FROM JEFF GORDON CHEVROLET IN WILMINGTON NC. WE HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING SINCE DELIVERY OF THIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLES STEERING IS VERY ERRATIC AND IT FEELS AS THOUGH YOU ARE ABOUT TO LOOSE CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, AS IF IT IS ON ICE. IT HAS BEEN BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS (3) WITH NOTHING FOUND AND NOTHING DONE ABOUT THE STEERING PROBLEM. THIS MORNING MY WIFE TRIED TO PULL INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND ENDED UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE YARD BECAUSE THE STEERING MALFUNCTIONED! IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SHE IS I *NM
I AM THE OWNER OF MY SECOND CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE FIRST ONE WAS A 1999 LS MODEL THE SECOND A 2003 LS MODEL. ON THE FIRST ONE I HAD TO REPLACE THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET AND BOTH FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS,ALSO THE AIR FAN SWITCH,ALL BEFORE THE VEHICLE REACHED 60000 MILES. ON THE 2003 I HAD TO REPLACE THE FAN SWITCH AND THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL BEARING. THE 2003 HAS 70000 MILES ON IT DOES GM CONTINUE TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS YEAR AFTER YEAR????? PLEASE GET BACK TO ME AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND LET ME KNOW WHAT RECOURSE I HAVE? *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WOULD LOCK ABNORMALLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THERE WAS ALSO AN ABNORMAL RATTLING FROM THE STEERING WHEEL. IN ADDITION, THE FUEL LEVEL GAUGE WOULD PROVIDE ERRONEOUS FUEL LEVEL READINGS AND THE INTERIOR LIGHTING WOULD MALFUNCTION SPORADICALLY. THE STEERING FAILURE WAS REPAIRED UNDER AN UNKNOWN RECALL, YET THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE STEERING FAILURE BUT REPLACED THE FUEL TANK SENSOR. LATER, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN AN UNRELATED CRASH AND WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE REPAIRED, THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED DEFECTIVELY AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE STEERING COLUMN WAS REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH UNDER NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED TO THE LEFT AND LOCKED. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO A TELEPHONE POLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT DID NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK AND NECK INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DRIVER INTERMITTENTLY EXPERIENCED EXTREME DIFFICULTY WHILE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS STEERED IN ONE DIRECTION AND SUDDENLY, WITHIN A FEW SECONDS THERE WAS A CLICKING NOISE; FOLLOWED BY THE STEERING WHEEL SYSTEM LOCKING. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. THE AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MALFUNCTION. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 97,912.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TURNING THE IGNITION, THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO CRANK. THE VEHICLE MUST BE TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP, BUT A REMEDY WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU CLASSIC. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM AUTOMATICALLY SHUTS ITSELF DOWN AS WELL AS THE ENGINE. THE LIGHT ILLUMINATES AND ONCE THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF, SHE MUST LEAVE THE IGNITION IN THE ON POSITION BEFORE IT CAN RESTART. THE FAILURE HAS OCCURRED SEVERAL TIMES AND THE CONTACT HAS HAD TO WAIT TEN MINUTES OR MORE FOR THE VEHICLE TO RESTART. THE MANUFACTURER'S MANUAL DOES NOT STATE HOW TO STOP THIS FAILURE. THIS FAILURE SHOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN SOMEONE IS ATTEMPTING TO STEAL THE VEHICLE, BUT ALWAYS OCCURS WHILE THE CONTACT IS DRIVING. SHE PAID OVER $700 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND SIX MONTHS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
THE GEAR BOX ON THE STEERING COLUMN MAKES A POPPING SOUND WHEN YOU TURN ALSO THE STEERING WHEEL JOLTS WHEN IT DOES THIS IT HAS BEEN REPLACED EVERY MONTH SINCE THEN AND IT STILL DOES IT. IT WILL NOT DO IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK WHEN I HAVE IT REPLACED BUT THEN IT STARTS TO DO IT AGAIN. *TR
EVER SINCE I PURCHASED MY MALIBU WITH AROUND 400 MILES, I HAVE HAD A CONTINUOUS KNOCK, WHICH I CAN HEAR AT LOWER SPEEDS TURNING THE WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION WHETHER THAT BE IN DRIVE OR REVERSE. TO ME IT SOUNDS LIKE IT IS COMING FROM MY STEERING COLUMN. FROM WHAT I REMEMBER, I BELIEVE I WAS TOLD IT WAS SOME TYPE OF JOINT WHICH KNOCKS FROM FRICTION AND THAT IT WOULD JUST NEED LUBRICATION IN TIME. OVER THE YEARS THE KNOCKING HAS CONTINUED AND SEEMS TO BE GETTING A LITTLE LOUDER, WITH MINOR SHAKING OF THE STEERING COLUMN WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR ACCELERATING TO HIGHER SPEEDS. I AM NOT SURE IF THIS MIGHT BE A POSSIBLE RECALL FOR THIS VEHICLE, BUT I DID SEE A STEERING RECALL FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL. IS THIS A RECALLED ITEM I HAVE NOT RECEIVED WORD OF? I HAVE HAD THREE RECALLS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION IN THE PAST SIX MONTHS WHICH I HAVE HAD TAKEN CARE OF, I WAS GIVEN NO FURTHER WORD OF THERE BEING ANY FURTHER ISSUES. THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WITH THIS VEHICLE FROM THE BEGINNING SO I AM NOW CURIOUS TO KNOW IF THESE PARTS HAVE BEEN RECALLED. *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE AT THE SET SPEED WHILE TRAVELING DOWN HILL. THE DEALER WAS ALERTED. UPDATED 10/4/2006 - THE VEHICLE HAS ACCELERATED 5-15 MILES PER HOUR OVER THE SET SPEED. *NM
MY STEERING WHEEL HAVE BEEN JUMPING TO THE LEFT EVEN WHILE PARKED. THEN MY POWER STEERING MESSAGE CAME ON. IT LOCKS ON ME WHILE I'M DRIVING AND I HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF THEN BACK ON. IT STARTED HAPPENING ABOUT ONCE A WEEK, BUT NOW IT HAPPENS TWICE IF NOT MORE TIMES A DAY. AFTER I BOUGHT THE FLUID I LEARNED THAT IT'S A MOTOR AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I CALLED CHEVY AND THEY TOLD ME MY MOTOR HAS TO BE REPLACED AND WILL COST ME OVER $600. I DON'T THINK THAT I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR ALL OF THAT MYSELF. I'VE READ A LOT OF COMPLAINTS AND THIS IS MAKING ME WANT TO TRADE MY CAR IN. NOW MAY CAR HAS OVER 100,000 MILES BUT THE PROBLEM STARTED AT ABOUT 83,000. I HAVE KIDS AND WHEN IT LOCKS UP WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY,IT'S TOO DANGEROUS. *TR
I HAD AN UNCONTROLLABLE IMMEDIATE RIGHT HAND TURN AT A VERY HIGH SPEED THAT WAS NOT INITATED BY ME. I HAD PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS ANOTHER CAR WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL DID AN EXTREMELY HARD RIGHT HAND TURN TAHT TOOK THE CAR OFF OF THE REGULAR ROADWAY AND ONTO THE OUTER EDGE OF THE SHOULDER. WHEN I RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE WHEEL SNAPPED BACK TO THE LEFT AND MY VEHICLE WAS NOW SIDEWAYS ON A MAJOR FREEWAY AT 60 MPH! I WAS LUCKY IN THAT NO ACCIDENT/INCIDENT WITH ANYONE ELSE OCCURED. I TURNED THIS VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIRS IMMEDIATELY THAT SAME DAY. THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM AND CORRECTED IT. THE VEHICLE, 2005 MALIBU MAXX HAS ELECTRONIC STEERING. THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT A ELECTRONIC PART WAS PUTTING OUT TOO MUCH VOLTAGE AND THAT IS WHAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE SINCE THAT TIME HAD OTHER STEERING RELATED PROB LEMS THAT HAVE BEEN CORRECTED BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN VERY HELPFULL WITH THE CORRECTIONS TO THIS VEHICLE. MY CONCERN IS THAT SOMEONE ELSE THAT MAY NOT BE ABLE TO HANDLE A SITUATION LIKE THIS WOULD LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL SHOULD IT HAPPEN TO THEM. I'M A DEFENSIVE DRIVER AND USUALLY KEEP BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL. IF I HADN'T OF HAD BOTH HANDS ON THE WHEEL I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ROLLED THE CAR OR AT THE LEAST SPUN OUT INTO OTHER TRAFFIC. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER PERFORMED AN OIL CHANGE AND STATED THAT A FUEL INJECTION THROTTLE BODY, FUEL INJECTOR KIT, AND DOUBLE CLEAN WERE NEEDED; HOWEVER,THIS HAD BEEN DONE A MONTH AGO. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE CALIBRATION WAS OUTDATED. WHEN ENTERING THE VEHICLE, THE CLOCK SOMETIMES NEEDS TO BE RESET. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 48,000. IN THE PAST 2 MONTHS MY 2006 CHEVY MALIBU THE STEERING LOCKS UP FOLLOWED BY THE BRAKES LOCKING UP..WHEN THE STEERING LOCKS UP IT TAKES 4-5 SECS AND ITS BACK TO NORMAL ITS DONE IT 3 TIMES AND THE PAST TIME CAME CLOSE TO BEING IN A DEADLY WRECK. *TT
LOSS OF STEERING WHILE DRIVING. IT HAPPENS ANYTIME, ANYPLACE, WITHOUT WARNING. WHEN YOU STOP AND RESTART IT WORKS AGAIN SOMETIMES. RESTARTED 20 TIMES TODAY AND DID NOT WORK. WAITED 3 HOURS STEERING WORKED FINE. MY WIFE WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR ANYMORE, NOR DO I WANT HER TO. THIS IS DEFINITELY A SAFETY PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE RESEARCHED AND A RECALL ISSUED. IT IS A GM DEFECT AND THEY SHOULD TAKE SOME OF THE MILLIONS IN TARP MONEY TAXPAYERS ARE GIVING THEM AND FIX THIS PROBLEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD ENGAGE WHILE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND THE BRAKE LIGHT DISENGAGED WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER TO HAVE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH REPLACED. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH INSTEAD OF TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. AFTER REPLACING THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH IT MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN. THE CONTACT TRIED TO REPLACE THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH BUT THE WIRING FOR THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH CAUSED A CRASH BECAUSE IT CONFUSED OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
WE PURCHASED OUR 2006 MAILBU MAXX IN NOVEMBER 2005. TWO MONTHS LATER THERE WAS A VIOLENT SHAKE IN THE FRONT END, THE DEALERSHIP TURNED THE ROTORS BECAUSE THEY WERE WARPED. THEN WE STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM RIGHT AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT.THE REAR WIPER COMES ON BY ITSELF, INTERIOR LIGHTS BLOW CONSTANTLY AS WELL AS HEADLIGHTS. DOOR LOCKS WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO. KEYLESS HAS NOT WORKED FOR THREE YEARS EVEN WITH NEW REMOTE BATTERIES. SINCE THE CAR HAS HAD 40,000 MILES ON IT THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN ACTING UP. MY WIFE HAS HIT OUR GARBAGE CANS AND EVEN MY TRUCK PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY. WE CANT EVEN TRADE THIS PIECE OF CRAP IN BECAUSE EVERYBODY KNOWS THE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR. OUR MALIBU HAS 78,000 MILES ON IT AND WE HAVE PUT 4 SETS OF BRAKES ON THE FRONT WITH HEAVY DUTY ROTORS AND THREE SETS ON THE REAR. GM IS NOT CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS CAR IS CRAP AND THEY KNOW IT. WE SHOULD AT LEAST GET 200 PERCENT OVER TRADE IN VALUE TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE. LIKE A ROCK....MORE LIKE A TURD!!!!! *TR
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR HEADRESTS BLOCK THE VIEW OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND PEDESTRIANS. THE DEALER TOOK OFF THE HEADRESTS AND TOLD THE CONTACT TO PUT THEM BACK ON IF SOMEONE RIDES IN THE REAR SEAT FOR SAFETY. THE MANUFACTURER HAS NOT BEEN ALERTED.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 MAILBU MAXX. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS STAYED ON ALL OF THE TIME. THE BULBS HAVE BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM COULD BE OVERLOADED. HE ALSO SAID THAT WHEN YOU PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHTS SHUT OFF AND THE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THERE WAS A TSB IN EFFECT BUT THE OWNER WAS CONCERNED SINCE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL. THE BRAKES AFFECT THE CRUISE CONTROL MAKING IT DECELERATE AND THEN IT WOULD SUDDENLY ACCELERATE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHEN ACCELERATING, THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE ILLUMINATED AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS RELATING TO THE POWER STEERING FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 4,000.
38K MILE 2006 CHEVY MALIBU V-6-CAR SHAKES/VIBRATES/SHIMMIES. IT ALSO RATTLES AND CLUNKS UNDERNEATH AT ALL SPEEDS, FEELS LIKE THE BOTTOM IS FALLING OUT. DEALER REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE A MINIMUM OF 7 COMPLAINTS. HEADLIGHTS LENSES ARE LOOSE AND THE LIGHTS SHAKE ALL OVER THE PLACE. DEALER DID FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE HEADLIGHT ISSUE AFTER THE 4TH COMPLAINT AND I WAS TOLD IT IS A GM PROBLEM BUT THEY HAVE NO FIX AND THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. NOW THAT THE WARRANTY IS UP, THEY ARE ACKNOWLEDGING ALL PREVIOUS COMPLAINTS (MANY MORE THAN JUST THE COUPLE I LISTED HERE) BUT AT MY EXPENSE WHEN THESE ISSUES S/H/B TAKEN CARE OF AT THE TIME OF THE ORIGINAL AND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. *TR
I BOUGHT MY CHEVROLET MALIBU IN DEC. OF 2006. IT IS A 2006. I NOTICED THAT ANYTIME IT RAINED OR I HAD A GLASS OF WATER IN THE CAR THE SEATS WOULD STAIN DUE TO THE WATER GETTING ON THEM. I TOOK IT BACK TO MAROON CHEVROLET & THEY THOUGHT IT WAS ODD. I TOLD THEM I DO NOT WANT A CAR THAT STAINS WATER. THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THEY WOULD CLEAN IT & SCOTCH GUARD IT & IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN, HE SAID THEY WOULD PUT NEW SEATS IN. WHEN I PICKED IT UP, THE SERVICE MANAGER ASSURED ME IT WOULD NOT STAIN WATER AGAIN & GAVE ME A PRINT OUT ON HOW TO CLEAN & WHAT TO CLEAN IT WITH FOR EACH SPILL. I TOLD HIM I'VE NEVER HAD ANYTHING IN MY CAR EXCEPT WATER. ON THE LIST HE GAVE ME WAS NOTHING IN REGARDS TO WATER STAINS ANYWAYS. WELL WE ARE IN THE RAINING SEASON NOW & IT'S HAPPENED AGAIN. I CALLED THE SERVICE MANAGER, WHO KEPT AVOIDING ME & FINALLY GOT ANOTHER MANAGER, WHO SAID THEY CANNOT GIVE ME NEW SEATS BUT WOULD CLEAN IT AGAIN. WHY SHOULD I HAVE TO KEEP BRINGING MY CAR BACK TO GET CLEANED? I'M SURE THEY ARE NOT GOING TO KEEP CLEANING IT. I KNOW SOMEONE ELSE WHO HAS A MAZDA THAT DOES THE SAME THING. PLASTIC CONSOLE EXTENDS FORWARD ALONG TRANSMISSION HUMP AND ENDS JUST AFT OF ACCELERATOR. WITH ACCELERATOR DEPRESSED, MY FOOT BECAME TRAPPED BETWEEN CONSOLE TRIM AND PEDAL. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT PANEL ON THE DASHBOARD HAS 12 SAFETY MESSAGES THAT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE BRIGHT ENOUGH DURING THE DAY SUCH AS THE BRAKE FLUIDS, GAS CAP, DOOR LATCHES, ENGINE DISABLED, TAILGATE, POWER STEERING AND AIR BAGS TO NAME A FEW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT ALL THE VEHICLE'S INSTRUMENT PANELS HAVE THE SAME LIGHT INTENSITY FOR ILLUMINATION.
2006 CHEVY MALIBU ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILURE. WHEN STARTED CAR THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES THE POWER STEERING WOULD START TO WORK, SHUT CAR OFF AND RESTART THE POWER STEERING WOULD NOT WORK AGAIN FOR ANOTHER FIVE MINUTES. *TR

ONCE HOME AND DRIVING I NOTICED AN ELECTRICAL ISSUES CONSISTING OF RADIO INTERFERENCE WHEN USING ANY ELECTRICAL BUTTONS IN CAR, SUCH AS WINDOWS, AND MY CHARGING OUTLETS IN THE CAR BLOW FUSES WHEN USED. WHEN I TURN MY AIR OR HEAT ON MY BRAKE PEDAL DROPS DOWN AT LEAST 2 IF SITTING AT LIGHT. IF DRIVING AND I TURN ON MY AIR, THE CAR LUNGES FORWARD. THIS IS AT A CRITICAL LEVEL NOW. I TOOK INTO THEIR DEALERSHIP FROM THE FIRST MONTH I PURCHASED THE CAR UNTIL MARCH OF 2007. NO ONE COULD FIX THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE AND DEALERSHIP COULD NOT SUPPLY ME WITH EVEN THE PAPERWORK TO SHOW ME WHAT THEY RESEARCHED WHILE IT SAT THERE FOR OVER 4 DAYS. PROBLEM IS NOW DEADLY AND I NEED THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE FIXED. I RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL 13036 BUT NOTHING CONCERNING THE PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKE PETAL AND ACCELERATION I HAVE HAD SINCE PURCHASE. DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH A DEER RAN INTO THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BURSTING THE WINDOW GLASS AND COLLAPSING THE DOOR ONTO THE CONTACT. BRAKE PRESSURE WAS APPLIED AND THE VEHICLE SKIDDED INTO A BILLBOARD, THE RIGHT FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WAS STRUCK BY A CENTER WOODEN POLE SUPPORT FOR THE BILLBOARD. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED FORWARD MOTION AND STRUCK A TREE IN THE FRONT CENTER OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT, MINOR INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE POLICE WERE ON THE SCENE AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE RENTAL CAR COMPANY WAS ALERTED. A MANUFACTURER REPRESENTATIVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FINDINGS OF THAT INSPECTION WERE NOT SHARED. UPDATED 5/11/2006 - *NM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO APPLY FORCE TO THE STEERING WHEEL IN ORDER TO TURN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING MOTOR AND MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,018.
