POWER STEERING FAILED DURING LOW SPEED LEFT TURN, POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. OCCURRED ON A CITY STREET. CAR HAS LESS THAN 30,000 MILES.
POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT COMES ON SAME AS RECALLS THAT WERE ISSUED FOR 2008 MALIBU MODELS AND CAR OFTEN SHAKES NOISE TICKING UNDER HOOD RPMS GO ABOVE NORMAL AT HIGHER SPEEDS
I HAVE EXPERIENCED MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THROUGHOUT 2020 WHERE THE BRAKE LIGHTS MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL TURN OFF UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. CRUISE CONTROL WILL ALSO NOT FUNCTION WHEN THIS MALFUNCTION IS OCCURRING. I AM CONVINCED THIS IS THE SAME PROBLEM THAT PROMPTED A RECALL BACK IN 2014. MY CAR WAS REPAIRED THROUGH THE RECALL CAMPAIGN, HOWEVER, I'M CONVINCED THE PROBLEM HAS RETURNED. THIS ISSUE HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND IT POSES A SAFETY RISK AND RAISES THE POSSIBILITY OF SOMEONE REAR-ENDING ME IF MY BRAKE LIGHTS AREN'T OPERATING AS THEY SHOULD. IN MY ATTACHED PHOTO, YOU WILL SEE THE BRAKE CONTROL MODULE. SIMPLY SHAKING IT OR PUSHING IT IN AND OUT SEEMS TO RECTIFY THE PROBLEM BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY.
THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. OK IN FILLED THE TANK UP TODAY AND PUT IN A LOCUS FUEL CLEANER (01/22/2021) ONLY BECAUSE IT WAS LIKE MY CAR WAS GASPING FOR GAS. MY FUEL GAUGE KEEPS MOVING UP IN DOWN. EVEN THOUGH I HAD JUST FILLED THE TANK UP IT WOULD CHIME DROP TO EMPTY ACCULERATE LIKE IT WAS HAVING A HARD TIME BREATHING SPIKE BACK UP TO THE FUEL LEVEL START DRIVING FINE THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN DROP DOWN TO E. NOW THE CAR IS HAVING A HARD TIME START LIK IT IS NOT GETTING ANY GAS AT ALL. I HAVE READ SEVERL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUSE
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES ON ITS OWN WHILE IDLING. PULL CAR IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS WHILE DRIVING
TL* THE CONTACT'S SIGNIFICANT OTHER OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE HIS SIGNIFICANT OTHER WAS DRIVING 5 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER PARKED AT A NEARBY PARKING LOT AND WAS STATIONARY FOR 45 MINUTES BEFORE CONTINUING TO DRIVE TO HER DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HERB CHAMBERS CHEVROLET OF DANVERS LOCATED AT 90 ANDOVER STREET, MA-114, DANVERS, MA 01923, (978) 774-2000, AND THE REPAIRS WERE STILL PENDING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000.
OUR 2007 CHEVY MALIBU LS HAS 83,000 MILES ON IT. WE BOUGHT IT NEW AT RED WING CHEVROLET IN 2007. 82,000 MILES WERE PUT ON IT THE FIRST THREE YEARS WE OWNED IT. THE REST WERE WHEN WE ONLY DROVE IT IN THE SUMMER TIME TO SPECIAL OCCASIONS. LATELY WE HAVE BEEN NOTICING THAT THE STEERING JERKS ONCE IN A WHILE. TODAY THE WARNING "POWER STEERING" CAME ON THE DISPLAY. I CALLED GM AND THEY SAID THAT THERE WAS A RECALL THAT WAS ONLY VIN SPECIFIC, AND OUR CAR WASN'T ONE OF THEM!! HELLO, WE HAVE A 2007 MALIBU AND IT DOES HAVE THAT PROBLEM!! THERE SHOULD BE A LEGAL OBLIGATION FOR THEM TO COVER THE COST OF THIS REPAIR.
I HAVE A 2007 MALIBU. AFTER CHANGE BATTERY, THE POWER STEERING IS GONE, "POWER STEERING" APPEARS ON RADIO PANEL. I SEARCH THE REALLY. THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2007 MALIBU, BUT MY CAR IS NOT IN THE LIST WHEN CHECK THE VIN
BLINKER IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY TURNING OF AND BLINKER ARM IS COMING APART AT THE END OF ARM WHEN DRIVING AND HAPPENS NO MATTER WHAT KIND OF TERRAIN I AM DRIVING ON
INTERMENT LOSS OF POWER STEERING PROBLEM STARTED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. MY MOTHER IS SELLING ME THE CAR AND WE GOT IT CHECKED OUT. I LOOKED INTO CHEVY RECALLS AND IT STATES A RECALL ON 06-08 MALIBU'S FOR A TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY AND THAT I NEEDED TO CALL CHEVY. I CONTACTED CHEVY ON 05/29/2020 AND SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE THAT STATED I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO GET THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING FIXED. DECIDED TO CALL MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS PRETTY MUCH TOLD 'WELL THAT RECALL EXPIRED IN 2016' REGARDLESS OF EXPIRATION DATE THE PART HAS GONE OUT IN MY CAR AND IS CONTINUING TO DO SO. I AGREED TO GET THE DIAGNOSTICS TEST RAN AT A CHEVY DEALERSHIP BUT WAS BASICALLY TOLD THEY WOULD DO NOTHING REGARDLESS OF WHAT CODE CAME ABOUT. REGARDLESS OF EXPIRATION YEAR ON A RECALL IF SOMETHING IS FAULTY BECAUSE OF THE MANUFACTURER PLACED FAULTY PARTS AND WON'T TAKE RESPONSIBILITY NOW THAT IT NEEDS FIXED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ASSIST WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE REQUIRED EXTRA EFFORT TO STEER. A DEALER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 96,000. INVALID VIN.
THE IS A MESSAGE THAT COMES ACROSS THE RADIO SCREEN TO SERVICE AIRBAG. IT IS REFERRING TO THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. WHEN THERE IS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT THE AIRBAG ON LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON THE INDICATOR LOCATED ABOVE THE RADIO. IT CONTINUES TO STATE THE AIRBAG IS OFF. ACCORDING TO MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP THE PART REQUIRED TO FIX THE PROBLEM IS DISCONTINUED BY GM AND THERE ARE NO AFTERMARKET PART FOR THIS. THE DEALERSHIP STATED THAT IT IS A MODULE. MY VEHICLE DOES NOT HAVE ANY CURRENT RECALLS TO MY KNOWLEDGE. MY CONCERN IS THIS IS AN IMPORTANT FEATURE TO HAVE AND THERE BEING NO REPLACEMENT PART IS TROUBLING. *TR
PASSENGER LOW BEAM LIGHTS CONTINUE TO TURN OFF/BURN OUT. THIS IS THE 4TH TIME I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM LIGHT BULB. IT SOMETIMES COME ON WHEN I DRIVE ON A BUMPY ROAD.
POWER STEERING LOOSES POWER DUE TO FAILURE OF THE TORQUE SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN. IT CAUSES THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE AND FORCING THE CAR TO TURN AND LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING
I HAVE A POWER STEERING ISSUE PRESUMABLY RELATED TO THE TORQUE SENSOR ASSEMBLY I BELIEVE GM SHOULD BE OPTING TO REMEDY BY WAY OF A RECALL/REPAIR AT THEIR COST THEY CLAIM DOESN'T APPLY TO MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE - 2007 CHEVROLET MALIBU. I CONTACTED GM A YEAR AGO AT 134,000 MILES TO INQUIRE ABOUT THIS ISSUE AND WAS THEN INFORMED I AM "JUST OUTSIDE" THE RANGE BEING COVERED. THE ISSUE WENT AWAY SHORTLY THEREAFTER BUT HAS RESURFACED. MOREOVER, THEY APPARENTLY WERE COVERING THIS PROBLEM ON 2007 YEAR MODELS AT SOME POINT ACCORDING TO THIS ARTICLE: HTTPS://WWW.CARS.COM/ARTICLES/RECALL-ALERT-2006-2007-CHEVROLET-MALIBU-AND-MALIBU-MAXX-PONTIAC-G6-1420668845347/ MY ISSUE IS PRESENTING THE SAME WAY AS HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS OF THE SAME MAKE/MODEL/GENERATION HAVE DESCRIBED. A GOOGLE SEARCH AND TEN MINUTES OF READING YIELD A PLETHORA OF RESULTS ATTESTING TO THIS. I DO UNDERSTAND MY VEHICLE IS OLDER AND THINGS DO GO WRONG WITH OLDER CARS AND THAT'S JUST HOW IT GOES, BUT I DON'T BELIEVE I SHOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE HIT ON THIS WHEN GM KNOWS IT'S SO WIDESPREAD ACROSS MULTIPLE MAKES AND MODELS. AS IT STANDS, MY POWER STEERING WILL WORK FOR THE FIRST TWO OR THREE MINUTES OF DRIVING IF I TURN THE WHEEL AS I'M TURNING THE IGNITION OVER, BUT WILL STOP WORKING AND THROW A "POWER STEERING" ALERT ON THE RADIO AT THAT TIME. IF I LEAVE THE WHEEL STRAIGHT AND START THE CAR, IT DOESN'T WORK FROM THE OUTSET. THESE FACTORS ARE ALSO SIMILAR TO WHAT OWNERS OF "COVERED" VEHICLES HAVE DESCRIBED. I'M SURE I'M NOT THE ONLY BARELY-NOT-COVERED OWNER WHO OUGHT TO BE COVERED AND AM HOPING ONE MORE VOICE (AS I CAN'T BE THE ONLY PERSON IN THIS SITUATION TO FILE A COMPLAINT) WILL HELP BRING SOME RELIEF FOR OWNERS SUCH AS MYSELF IN THIS MESS.
THE POWER STEERING HAS BEEN LOST ON MULTIPLE TIMES AND NOW IT HAPPENING MORE AND MORE FREQUENTLY. IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING DURING THIS PAST YEAR. IT USUALLY HAPPENS WITHOUT WARNING. THE POWER STEERING LIGHT WILL COME ON AND SIMULTANEOUSLY THE POWER STEERING IS LOST. IT TAKES A GREAT DEAL OF EFFORT TO STEER THE CAR AND MOVE OVER OR TURN A CORNER. IT'S A CRITICAL SAFETY FACTOR! FOR AN SENIOR WOMEN, IT'S VERY DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER.LUCKILY, IT'S ONLY HAPPENED ON CITY STREETS WHILE IN MOTION. IT HAS COME ON WHEN THE CAR HAS STOPPED, LIKE AT A TRAFFIC STOP. USUALLY, I CAN TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT ON AGAIN. A DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS THE POWER STEERING SENSORS AND MY CAR IS NOT COVERED. THERE HAVE BEEN RECALLS ON THIS PROBLEM FOR OTHER 2007 MALIBU'S. I ALSO HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS BECAUSE I TRANSPORT MY ELDERLY MOTHER. CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY CAR IS NOT COVERED. DRIVERS SEAT BELT IS NOT ENGAGED - INDICATOR LIGHT SHOWS PROBLEM THAT IT IS NOT ENGAGED. CONCERNED IT WON'T WORK IN AN ACCIDENT

THE POWER STEERING WARNING MESSAGE WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OFF OF THE ROADWAY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS DESIGNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED NOR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 147,000.

THE CONTACT ASSOCIATED THE FAILURE TO NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V064000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHEN ENGINE IS RUNNING AND THE POWER STEERING INFO LIGHT APPEARS.
WHILE DRIVING, MY POWERS STEERING RANDOMLY TURNS OFF ANS IS NOT REESTABLISHED UNTIL THE CAR IS PUT IN PARK AMD RESTARTED. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LOW AND HIGH SPEEDS. IT HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS OVER THE LAST 4 YEARS.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN THE WHEEL. I HAD TO PULL OVER TURN THE CAR OFF AND THE PROBLEM STOPPED FOR A FEW MILES THEN HAPPENED AGAIN. MY STEERING WHEEL IS NOW SHAKING AND PULLING TO ONE SIDE WITHOUT BEING TOUCHED. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED ON BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS, AS WELL AS WHEN I START THE CAR.
ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING RANDOMLY GIVES OUT WHILE DRIVING THE CAR MAKING IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO CONTROL CAR AND MAKE TURNS. STEERING WHEEL SHAKES A LOT WHEN DRIVING OR PARKED. I CHECKED ONLINE AND MALIBU'S 2006-2007 HAVE A RECALL FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I CALLED CHEVY SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR MY CAR WITH MY VIN.
POWER STEERING SHUTS OFF INTERMITTENTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE AND SHAKES WHETHER THE POWER STEERING IS WORKING OR GOES OUT. THIS CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHILE DRIVING. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE VEHICLE. HAVING SMALL CHILDREN MAKES THIS ISSUE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS AND IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER A RECALL.
WHEN I AM GIVING MORE POWER FROM EXHALATION PADDLE. IT IS DEPLAYING ALL THE SIGN SYMBOLS WILL DISPLAYING ON SPEEDO METER DISPLAY AND ALSO MAINLY, ( IMPORTANT: WHEN I AM GIVING MORE EXHALATIONS MY STEERING HOLD AND SUDDENLY IT IS TAKING RIGHT SIDE CONTROL AND VERY HARD TO TURN ON UP HEAL. PLEASE ANY ONE HELP ME OUT FROM THIS ISSUE. THANK YOU
THE POWER STEERING WILL OCCASIONALLY NOT WORK WHEN YOU START THE CAR BUT IF YOU TURN IT OFF AND START IT UP AGAIN IT WILL WORK. I'LL OCCASIONALLY GET A BURNING SMELL THROUGH MY VENTS AND MY STEERING WHEEL WILL PERIODICALLY SHAKE AS WELL.. I RECENTLY BOUT NEW TIRES OVER THE SUMMER AND IT STOPPED HAPPENING SO I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT BUT AFTER WASHING MY CAR THE OTHER DAY IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN
MY BODY CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT. I JUST PARKED ONE DAY AND WHEN I WENT BACK OUT TO START IT THE NEXT DAY IT WAS BROKEN. I LOVE MY MALIBU AND IT HAS BEEN PARKED FOR A MONTH. I LOST MY JOB BECAUSE OF IT. I HAVE A DISABLED HUSBAND AND TWO KIDS. I BELIEVE MY VEHICLE BROKE BECAUSE OF THESE RECALLS. I DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO FIX IT AND AM BEGGING FOR YOUR HELP. THE DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PARK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FOR TWENTY MINUTES, RESTART THE VEHICLE, AND THEN DRIVE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED AS OF YET. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.

DRIVING AND THE STEERING GOT KIND OF JERKY, CAR WANTED TO WANDER AND MADE IT HARD TO DRIVE STRAIGHT, THEN ABOVE THE RADIO IT DISPLAYED "POWER STEERING" DOES THIS ON AND OFF WHEREVER YOU'RE DRIVING.

CONSEQUENCE IF POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, GREATER DRIVER EFFORT WOULD BE REQUIRED TO STEER THE VEHICLE AT LOW SPEEDS, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

I RESEARCH THE VEHICLE RECALL HISTORY AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL FOR MY CAR YEAR, MODEL AND TYPE, THE ISSUE IS CHEVY WONT COVER MY CAR RECALL SINCE ITS MANUFACTURED DATE IS JUST OUTSIDE THEIR SPECIFIED DATE FOR RECALL. I WOULD ARGUE THAT THE RECALL SHOULD COVER MY CAR SINCE IT FELLS UNDER RECALL YEAR, MODEL AND TYPE, IM ALMOST CERTAIN IT USES THE SAME PART WHICH CREATED THE PROBLEM.

The contact stated that once the temperature fell below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, the power steering assist would fail to operate as needed with the power steering warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 15V064000 (Steering). The contact called the manufacturer on several occasions but received no assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 51,000.

THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF THE ROAD THAT I AM DRIVING ON AND REGARDLESS IF I AM ON HIGHWAYS OR CITY ROADS. CERTAIN TIMES, THE STEERING WHEEL WILL JERK ON ITS OWN ONE WAY OR THE OTHER AND I HAVE TO OVERCORRECT THE JERKING TO ENSURE THAT I STAY ON THE ROAD.

ON ANOTHER OCCASION, THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN THE ENGINE WAS STARTED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT A POWER STEERING SENSOR NEEDED TO BE INSTALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND VERIFIED THAT A POWER STEERING SENSOR WAS NEEDED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 162,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE. *BF CONSUMER STATED THE USE OF THIS PARTICULAR ELECTRIC STEERING COLUMN WAS A DESIGN FLAW AND THAT THEY SHOULD ADDRESS THE ISSUE. ELECTRIC MOTORS SHOULD NEVER BE USED ON STEERING COLUMNS. HYDRAULIC PUMPS HAVE ALWAYS BEEN THE SAFE DESIGN.
