THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG ON/OFF LIGHT STARTED TO TURN OFF AND ON WHILE A PASSENGER OF 108 POUNDS WAS SITTING IN THE SEAT. THE RED AIR BAG LIGHT ALSO WAS SHOWING ON THE DASHBOARD COMING ON THEN OFF. THE AIR BAG ON/OFF LIGHT EVENTUALLY STAYED OFF AFTER TWO DAYS OF THE SAME THINGS HAPPENING AND THE RED AIR BAG LIGHT ON THE DASH IS CONSTANTLY ON WITH A MESSAGE TO SERVICE THE AIR BAG. I TOOK IT TO MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT IT WAS A SENSOR AND IT WOULD COST $800.00 FOR THE PART ALONE AND $100.00 - $150.00 FOR LABOR. *JS
I PULLED THE CAR INTO MY DRIVEWAY, STOPPED AND SHIFTED INTO PARK. WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, IT BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS. I PUT THE BRAKE BACK ON, STOPPED IT, AND THEN DISCOVERED THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT INDICATOR LIGHT SHOWED THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN REVERSE. I RAN THE SHIFTER THROUGH ALL THE GEARS, BUT THE INDICATOR LIGHT STAYED THE SAME. IT BEGAN ROLLING BACKWARDS AGAIN WHEN I BRIEFLY LIFTED MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, REMOVED THE KEY, CALLED MY DEALER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THEM. THEY FIXED IT THE SAME DAY AND TOLD ME THE SHIFT CABLE HAD SEPARATED FROM WHERE IT ATTACHES TO THE TRANSMISSION. *TR
I AM HAVING THE SAME ISSUE AS MANY ON THE CHEVY.COM WEBSITE. THE ISSUE HAS TO DO WITH THE DOOR LOCKS NOT LOCKING. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS ATTEMPT TO PULL THE LOCK DOWN BUT HAVE LOST THE ABILITY TO CONSISTENTLY DO SO. IT IS TOT HE POINT WHERE THE ONLY WAY TO LOCK THE DOOR IS TO MANUALLY DO SO. THIS WOULDN'T BE AN ISSUE IF THE CAR HASN'T ALREADY TRAINED YOU TO BE USE TO THE DOORS AUTOMATICALLY LOCKING WHEN THE CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE AND LOCK WITH THE KEY FOB WHILE WALKING AWAY FROM THE CAR WITH A CLICK AND A HONK. THERE ARE SOME SAFETY ISSUES HERE AS YOU AREN'T QUITE SURE WHEN YOU CAR IS LOCKED OR NOT. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAME ISSUE WAS DISTURBING WHEN I LOGGED ONTO THE CHEVY.COM FORUM WHICH DISCUSS SUCH ISSUES. A RECALL SEEMS INEVITABLE AND VERY MUCH NEEDED FOR SAFETY REASONS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU LT. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO ANY OTHER POSITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE GEAR SHIFTER CABLE WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE FAILURE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WAS 12V460000 (POWER TRAIN). THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
2013- APRIL, RUBBING NOISE COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN FOR A FEW MONTHS THEN STEERING BECAME TOO HARD, BARELY MADE TO DEALERSHIP. STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY REPLACED ALONG WITH INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT PART NO. 25979679 AT 38,643 MILES. 2019-DECEMBER RUBBING NOISE AGAIN AND SLIGHT SHIFTING OF CAR TO LEFT PULLING INTO PARKING SPOT, LOWER U JOINT ON INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WITH TOO MUCH PLAY LEADS TO STEERING SHAFT BEING INSTALLED PART NO. 25979679 INSTALLED AT 72,712 MILES. 2020-FEBRUARY RUBBING NOISE STARTING AGAIN CAR WILL BE CHECKED OUT ON APRIL 18TH. THIS CAR HAS HAD NO HARD USE SUCH AS COMMUTING OR MULTIPLE LONG DISTANCE DRIVING.*DT
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I NOTICED THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE STUCK ON. I DIDN'T PAY IT ANY MIND SINCE THEN UNTIL YESTERDAY 07/01/2013. A FRIEND OF MINES WAS FOLLOWING ME HOME AND ADVISED ME THAT MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON THE ENTIRE TIME. I CHECKED TO MAKE SURE I WASN'T RIDING WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKES ON. NOW MY CAR SEEMS LIKE IT IS PULLING AND THERE IS A BURNING SMELL UNDER MY CAR. I'M NOT QUITE SURE IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE OR NOT. I DID FIND AN ARTICLE FROM THE HUFFINGTON POST THAT STATED THAT THERE WERE A FEW COMPLAINTS/ISSUES REGARDING THAT. WHAT COULD BE CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN. WHY HASN'T THEN BEEN CONSIDERED A RECALL? *TR
DOOR LOCKS ARE FAILING TO LOCK AND UNLOCK, WITH THE KEY FOB OR, WITH THE INSIDE SWITCH, FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OR FROM EITHER ONE OF THE THREE OTHER DOORS. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AS, IF SOMEONE IS ABOUT TO GET ROBBED, RAPED, BEAT UP OR A CAR JACKING IS ABOUT TO OCCUR AND, THE DOOR LOCKS FAILS TO LOCK OR UNLOCK THEN, SOMEONE COULD GET RAPED, INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. PLEASE PAY ATTENTION TO THIS MESSAGE AND TAKE ACTION AGAINST GENERAL MOTORS TO GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVED. I THINK, ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER 08 OR 09 MALIBU OWNERS, THAT GENERAL MOTORS IS USING THIS FOR A "CASH COW" AS THEY TOO ARE UNWILLING TO BUDGE AND DO THE RIGHT THING BY MAKING AND INSTALLING AN UPGRADED LOCKING SYSTEM THAT WILL LAST FOR MORE THAN FIVE YEARS. THIS HAS OCCURED MULTIPLE TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR. WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON BY THEMSELVES AND YOU HAVE TO TAP THE BRAKES TO GET THEM TO GO OUT. THEN THEY MIGHT OR MIGHT NOT GO OFF AND TOTALLY CANCELS ANY CRUISE CONTROL OPETATION. THERE IS NO ACTUAL BRAKING AND THIS EVEN HAPPENS WHEN ACCELERATING. THIS LAST TIME, THEY WOULD NOT GO OFF AT ALL AND IT EVEN TRIGGERED A 'SERVICE TRACTION' WARNING ON THE DASH. THE FIRST COUPLE OF TIMES I TOOK IT IN, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY COULD NOT FIX/DIAGNOSE IT UNLESS IT WAS DOING THIS RIGHT THEN. WELL ANOTHER SHOP FOUND A SAFETY BULLETIN ON THIS ISSUE AND COMPLETED THE RECOMMENDED FIX. THIS WORKED FOR QUITE A WHILE UNTIL NOW AND HERE WE ARE AGAIN. I WORRY ABOUT ANOTHER DRIVER TAKING FAULTY ACTION THINKING I AM BRAKING, WHEN I AM NOT. ALSO IT HAS BECOME A RECURRING SAFETY ISSUE AND I SEE OTHER OWNERS ARE DEALING WITH THE SAME ISSUE. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR AND SHIFTED INTO REVERSE, CAR DID FINE BUT WHEN I PUT IT IN DRIVE THE CAR WENT INTO MANUAL STEERING. I COULD HARDLY MOVE THE WHEEL. I TURNED THE IGNITION OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND POWER STEERING CAME BACK. THEN, WAS AT A LIGHT TO TURN LEFT ONTO A MAIN BUSY TWO WAY ROAD WITH LOTS OF TRAFFIC, AND WHEN I WENT TO TURN LEFT, THE CAR WENT INTO MANUAL AGAIN AND I ALMOST GOT HIT BY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I WAS JUST ABLE TO GET PAST THE ONCOMING CARS, QUICKLY SHUT IGNITION OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON AND POWER STEERING CAME BACK. THEN, ASSIGNMENT FOR MY WORK, WAS ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 50 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING VIOLENTLY. I WAS VERY AFRAID. I TOOK SURFACE STREETS TO GET TO THE JOB THEN AND CAME HOME USING SURFACE STREETS. THE PROBLEM WITH THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT IS NOT ALL THE TIME, INTERMITTENT, BUT FAIRLY FREQUENT. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I WENT ONLINE TYPING 2008 MALIBU POWER STEERING PROBLEM AND SAW THE WEBSITE WHERE GM HAD A RECALL. I EMAILED GM HELPLILNE AND WAS ASKED TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER. I WAS INFORMED THAT IF THEY CANNOT ISOLATE THE PROBLEM, I WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR IT BECAUSE MY VIN WAS NOT LISTED AS PART OF THE RECALL AND THE MILEAGE IS OVER 100,000. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS BECAUSE THIS PROBLEM IS NOT A "WEAR AND TEAR", BUT RATHER A DEFECTIVE KNOWN PROBLEM THAT PRACTICALLY COULD HAVE KILLED ME. THE CAR IS UNSAFE. THE REPAIR IS WELL OVER $700+ AND I DON'T HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO FIX IT. I THINK THAT THIS IS A GRAVE DANGER TO THE SAFETY AND WELLBEING OF NOT ONLY MYSELF BUT FOR OTHER DRIVERS SUCH THAT THE POWER STEERING IS UNPREDICTABLE IN PERFORMANCE. I USE MY CAR FOR MY JOB AS I AM ASKED TO GO TO VARIOUS LOCATIONS AND SO IT IS NOT JUST UNSAFE FOR PERSONAL DRIVING IT AFFECTS MY ABILITY TO FEEL SAFE WHILE ON THE JOB. *TR
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES WHILE CAR IS STATIONARY OR ON THE MOVE VIOLENTLY, POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON IN INFORMATION SCREEN. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS PROBLEM THAT COULD GET PEOPLE IN ACCIDENTS!! *TR
FIRST STEERING WHEEL PULSED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND THEN AND THEN WHEN I DROVE IT FELT ALMOST LIKE A MAGNETIC PULL BACK AND FOURTH ON THE INTERSTATE, AS IM SWERVING BETWEEN LANES BECAUSE ITS SO STRONG! TURN OFF CAR SOMETIME RESETS PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. EVENTUALLY IT ALL HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN. NEEDS TO BE RECALL ON POWER STEERING. BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING WHEEL MOVED BACK AND FORTH. NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN BUT THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,319. *TR
FIRST STEERING WHEEL PULSED VERY RAPIDLY AND THEN POWER STEERING WENT OUT COMPLETELY. TURN OFF CAR SOMETIME RESETS PROBLEM TEMPORARILY. EVENTUALLY IT ALL HAPPENS AGAIN AND AGAIN. NEEDS TO BE RECALL ON POWER STEERING. FAST BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED, LIKE A CHILD OR FAMILY. THEN IT WILL BE TO LATE. THANKS GM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE ESC AND TRACTION CONTROL WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE BRAKE LIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATED INDEPENDENTLY WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING DEPRESSED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHO REPAIRED THE VEHICLE UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL); HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATE 01/15/16 MA
THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND VIBRATES ON AND OFF. NOW I GET A MESSAGE POWER STEERING. MY HUSBAND LOOKED ONLINE AND THERE OVER THREE OR FOUR PAGES OF CONSUMERS WITH THE SAME ISSUES, POWER STEERING COLUMN AND GM HAS NOT PUT OUT A RECALL. THE CONSUMER MUST MAKE THE REPAIRS OF APPROXIMATELY 700 TO 1500. I DO NOT HAVE MONEY OR CREDIT. I MAY HAVE TO GIVE THE CAR BACK AS I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE IT. IT IS A SHAME THAT GM WILL NOT STEP UP AND FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE. *TR
FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS NOW EVERY TIME I TURN THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT IT WANTS TO "JUMP" IT ACTS LIKE IT IS HANGING UP SOMEWHERE. ON 3-2-2013 I GOT INTO THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WASN'T WORKING. I GOT BACK HOME AND SHUT IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON ABOUT AN HOUR LATER AND IT WORKED AGAIN. *TR

ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND SWITCHING LANES, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. CHEVROLET MALIBU LTZ 3.6L, AS YOU DRIVE DOWN THE STREET AT ANY SPEED THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE DISPLAY SAY CHECK TRACTION PRESS ESC I HAVE HAD IT CHECKED AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE CAR AND THE TECH SAID THE ENGINE MISFIRED THAT IT WAS PROBABLY DUE TO BAD GAS OR A PARTICLE IN THE GAS BUT IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT TEN TIMES WITH GAS FROM SEVERAL PLACES AND ALL GRADES REGULAR TO PREMIUM AND KNOW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS COME ON AND AM KNOW TAKING THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THEM SCAN THE CAR AGAIN I HAVE HAD THE CAR A LITTLE OVER A MONTH, IF THE DEALER DECIDES IT IS NO LONGER THERE PROBLEM I WILL REPORT THIS PROBLEM AND HASSLE I HAVE GONE THROUGH TO GM MANAGEMENT AND WILL RETURN THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER OR OWNER OF DEALERSHIP FOR A REFUND. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE STEERING MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED TWICE UNDER A MANUFACTURER'S RECALL FOR THE STEERING COLUMN. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,854. UPDATED 04/17/13*LJ THE CONSUMER STATED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. ON ONE OCCASION, SHE WAS UNABLE TO BACK OUT OF A PARKING SPACE. SHE HAD TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, IN ORDER FOR THE STEERING TO RESUME NORMAL OPERATION. UPDATED 04/18/13
2008 CHEVY MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TRANSMISSION DEFECT RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE, DESPITE RECEIVING A RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL.
POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON GONE TO DEALER SEVERAL TIMES GM IS HORRIBLE I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER GM MADE CAR I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR I WILL BE RESEARCHING UNDER LEMON LAW. *TR
POWER LOCKS NOT WORKING.I BELIEVE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, FOR THE REASON THAT IF IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY, YOU WILL NOT HAVE EXIT ACCESS. *TR
OWNERS OF CHEVY MALIBUS HAVE AN ISSUE WITH 2008 - 2010 POWER DOOR LOCKS THAT MALFUNCTION. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOORS CAN LOCK AND UNLOCK AT RANDOM TIMES, AND MINE DO NOT LOCK AND UNLOCK UNLESS DONE MANUALLY, SINCE THERE IS ONLY A KEY WAY TO UNLOCK THE DRIVERS DOOR YOU HAVE TO CRAWL OVER THE FRONT SEATS TO MANUALLY UN LOCK THE REAR DOORS. PLEASE LAUNCH AN INVESTIGATION AND ORDER THE MANUFACTURER TO RECALL THE VEHICLES AFFECTED SINCE ITS SAFETY RELATED. THANK YOU *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED MY CHECK ESC CHECK TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON IN MY DRIVER NOTIFICATION PANEL. WHEN I GOT HOME I NOTICED THAT MY REAR BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON AND I WASNT EVEN IN THE VEHICLE PRESSING ON THE BRAKE. SO I TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD COME ON WITHOUT ME HITTING THE BRAKES AND THEN WHEN I DID HIT THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT COME ON. THIS HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THE FIFTH TIME NOW FOR THE SAME THING. HUGE SAFETY CONCERN WHEN YOUR BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AS THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 149,000.
WHILE SITTING IN A PARKING LOT THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO MOVE BACK AND FORTH BY ITSELF. THE CAR WAS NOT MOVING. WHEN I WENT TO TAKE OFF THE CAR WOULD PULL TO ONE SIDE THE JERK BACK AND FORTH. IT KEPT DOING THIS MOST OF THE WAY HOME. MY WIFE WILL NO NOLONGER DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE. WHY WONT THE GOVERNMENT MAKE CHEVY FIX THIS PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE ENGINE WAS SHUT DOWN. UPON RESTARTING, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE POWER DOOR LOCKS (THEIR ASSEMBLIES) ON ALL DOORS HAVE GONE BAD. THIS PREVENTS THE UNLOCKING OF ANY DOOR FROM THE OUTSIDE AND BACK DOORS FROM INSIDE VERY DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE IN THE FRONT SEAT WHICH CAN TRAP INFANTS OR OTHERS INSIDE. FOR ALL DOORS TO GO BAD AT SUCH A LOW MILEAGE AND NEWER CAR IS NOT NORMAL. DOORS INITIALLY STARTED GOING BAD 3 YEARS AGO. OTHER OWNERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE AND DEALERS APPEAR TO ALSO KNOW THIS ISSUE IS COMMON AS THEY CHECK FOR IT WITHOUT REQUEST. GM SHOULD REIMBURSE OWNERS FOR PREVIOUS REPAIRS AND FIX ANY OTHER NON- FUNCTIONING DOOR LOCKS AS THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. DEALER STATED THAT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY, OR MAY NOT WORK PROPERLY IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. MY WIFE, CHILDREN, AND MYSELF WERE LEAVING FOR SCHOOL AND DOCTOR APPOINTMENT, WHEN PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED OR WAS VERY HARD TO TURN, THEN A WARNING CAME ACROSS THE DISPLAY OF POWER STEERING LOSS. REAR DOORS WILL NOT LOCK WHEN PUT IN GEAR OR AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR UNLOCK WHEN PUT IN PARK. ONLY WILL LOCK OR UNLOCK MANUALLY. THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM. THE REAR LOCK SOLENOIDS GO BAD. AND THAT THEY HAVE BEEN SELLING AND INSTALLING A LOT OF THEM. THE SOLENOIDS ARE PART OF THE REAR DOOR LATCH. I PAID FOR TWO NEW SOLENOIDS AND INSTALLED THEM .PROBLEM FIXED. THE PARTS NUMBER HAS BEEN UPDATED FOUR TIMES? I FEEL GM SHOULD HAVE REPAIRED THIS AT NO CHARGE. WHY IS THIS NOT A SAFETY PROBLEM ? *TR

THREE OF MY CAR DOORS DO NOT LOCK UNLESS MANUALLY LOCKED. THE ELECTRONICS HAVE FAILED ON ALL THREE DOORS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR IN EACH DOOR, AT THE COST OF OVER $750. THE COST IS NOT THE ONLY PROBLEM. THE MOTORS THAT FAILED IN EACH DOOR WILL BE REPLACED BY THE SAME FAULTY PART. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT COSTS $300 TO FIX ONE DOOR'S LOCKS ALONE. THE DRIVERS LOCK HAD GREATER PROBLEMS THAN THE OTHERS BECAUSE SOMETIMES IT LOCKS ME IN THE CAR BECAUSE IT SHIFTS THE LOCK A LITTLE AND THE DOOR GETS JAMMED. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED. 2008 MALIBU SHOWS "ICE POSSIBLE" AND THEN TRACTION LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN ENGINE POWER REDUCE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE ENGINE STARTS TO SLOW DOWN. THIS HAPPENS ON THE HIGH WAY, IN TRAFFIC, WHILE ACCELERATING AND HONESTLY GOING UP AND DOWN HILLS. TOOK TO SERVICE CENTER AND THEY SAID IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR, HOWEVER AFTER REPLACING THE VEHICLE IS STILL HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY TOLD ME TO HAVE THE RECALL ON THE VEHICLE DONE HOWEVER THE MECHANIC TOLD ME THE RECALL HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ISSUE AND HE DOESN'T KNOW WHY THE CAR IS DOING THAT. SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED. SEEMED OK FOR FIRST FEW MINUTES THEN STARTED AGAIN. GOT ON THE ROAD, DRIVING ABOUT 35-40 MPG ON HIGHWAY AND IT BECAME UNCONTROLLABLE. COULD NOT KEEP IT STRAIGHT WITHIN THE LANE. ALMOST HIT A CAR IN THE LANE ON MY RIGHT! PULLED UP TO AN AUTO SHOP NEAR BY. THEY TEST DROVE AND EXPERIENCED THE ISSUE BUT EXPLAINED THAT WITH THESE CARS, THE TECHNOLOGY IN THEM IS TOO ADVANCED AND WOULD HAVE TO BE TAKEN TO A CHEVY DEALER. MECHANIC EXPLAINED THAT THE MATTER IS QUITE HAZARDOUS AND IT WOULD BE A HUGE RISK DRIVING IT NOW. SINGLE MOM DRIVING 45 MINUTES FROM HOME WITH 2 MINOR CHILDREN. HAD TO GET A TOW TRUCK TO GET BACK HOME, 45 MINUTES AWAY. $$$!! HAD THIS VEHICLE FOR 11 MONTHS ONLY. WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THE STEERING SEEMED TO LOCK UP AND THEN WAS VERY HARD TO STEER. I GOT THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND PULLED OVER AND TURNED IT OFF, AFTER A FEW MINUTES I STARTED THE CAR AND THE STEERING SEEMED OK.THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 7 OR 8 TIMES SINCE 10/1/12. TOOK CAR TO THE DEALER ON 10/13 AND THEY COULD NOT GET THE CAR TO DO IT WHILE THEY DROVE IT. I AM TAKING THE CAR BACK ON 10/22 TO GET IT CHECKED AGAIN. AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK FAILED TO OPEN WHEN TRANSMISSION WAS PUT IN PARK. THE ONLY WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR WAS TO PULL UP ON LOCK KNOB WHICH WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE DUE TO LIMITED MOBILITY (ARTHRITIS IN SHOULDER). NEEDED TO REMOVE SEAT BELT, SLIDE OVER AND SIT ON CONSOLE TO REACH LOCK KNOB. AUTOMATIC LOCKS STILL ENGAGE WHEN CAR IS PUT IN DRIVE BUT WILL NOT OPEN WHEN PUT BACK IN PARK. I CAN NOT EASILY OR QUICKLY EXIT THE CAR WITH THIS FAILURE. GM SAYS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE AUTOMATIC LOCKS ARE ONLY A CONVENIENCE AND OLDER CARS WERE NOT EQUIPPED WITH AUTOMATIC LOCKS. HOWEVER, ON OLDER CARS THE DOOR WOULD UNLOCK WHEN THE DOOR HANDLE WAS PULLED. ON THE MALIBU PULLING UP ON THE LOCK KNOB IS THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE CAR. COST TO HAVE DEALER REPAIR $300.
