GAS LEAKING, MODULE FUEL PUMP & SENDER ASSEMBLY HAD TO BE REPLACED, ARTICLE IN TIMES PAPER SAID IT WAS RECALLED BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM IN 2012, I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY DANGEROUS PROBLEM AS THE GAS ODOR WAS VERY STRONG AND I KEPT HAVING TO FILL MY CAR UP WITH GAS. DID NOT TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE I DID NOT RECEIVE A NOTICE AND WANTED IT FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE GOT HURT OR KILLED SO I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC. IT WAS LEAKING GAS WHEN IT WAS STATIONARY, IN MOTION BUT I SMELLED IT THE MOST WHEN IT WAS IN THE GARAGE LOCKED UP.
THE CYCLOPS BRAKE LIGHT DOES NOT ACTIVATE WITH THE OTHER BRAKE LIGHTS. THIS MAY BE A DANGEROUS CONDITION GIVEN ALL THE DISTRACTED DRIVERS. THIS HAPPENS WHEN THE ENGINE IS ON AND CAR STATIONARY. NO RECALL CAN BE FOUND.
THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AND IT SAYS TO BE SERVICED. SOMETIMES IT COMES ON AND IT CAN STAY OFF FOR LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAN COME ON WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION AND THEN TURN OFF, SOMETIMES IT DOES STAY ON. MY VEHICLE IS GIVING A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR. I NOTICE IT BEING A STRONGER SMELL AFTER I STATION IT AFTER A DRIVE. I HAVE NOT SEEN A NOTICEABLE LEAK YET. I WILL HAVE A MECHANIC CHECK THAT FOR ME.
SPEED GAUGE ,FUEL GAUGE, AND ENGINE REV GARAGE WENT DEAD IN MID TRIP ON HIGHWAY CANNOT GAUGE FUEL SPEED OR ENG REV AND TEMP, PROPERLY..
GETTING OFF HIGHWAY ONTO EXIT RAMP TURNING LEFT AND POWER STEERING ASSIST SHUT OFF , DASH WARNING LIGHTS LIT AND BELLS CHIMMED. STEERING WAS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE AND ALMOST HIT GAURD RAILS. STOPPED CAR , EVENTUALLY RESTARTED CAR AND CAR BACK TO NORMAL . NOW EVERYTIME CAR IS STEERED IN THE LEFT DIRECTION WARNING LIGHT AND BELLS START .
AIR BAR WARNING LIGHT AND TIRE SENSOR WARNING LITE BOTH CAME ON AT THE SAME TIME. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER AND WAS ADVISED THAT THAT THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG WAS FAULTY.
FRONT PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT KEEPS SHORTING OUT AFTER BEING FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES.
MY RIGHT HI-BEAM HEADLIGHT HAS FAILED TWICE SINCE FEB 2017. I READ A RECALL OF CERTAIN MODELS AND YEARS IN THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH..IS MINE INCLUDED?
WHEN DRIVING BRAKE LIGHT CONTINUE TO STAY ON. WHEN PRESSED THEY GO OFF AND PRESSING TO FLOOR THEY COME ON BUT WHEN RELEASED AROUND 6 SECONDS LATER THEY COME ON AGAIN. WAS TAKEN TO DEALER SHIP TO BE FIXED FOR A RECALL . WORKED FOR LESS THAN A MONTH AND IT CONTINUES AGAIN. HAD BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH REPLACED AND IT STILL CONTINUES. NOW I'M GETTING THE LIGHTS COMING ON SAYING ESC OFF AND ALSO A TRACTION LIGHT. IN MY OPINION ALL CHEVY MALIBU'S SHOULD BE RECALLED AND DONE RIGHT. WORST CAR I EVER OWNED. FIX YOUR MISTAKES PLEASE. ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM - POWER STEERING ASSIST LOCKS RANDOMLY AND MAKES IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER THE CAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY INCLUDED IN A RECALL REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. WHENEVER THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT INTO A GEAR, THE SHIFTER FAILED TO LOCK INTO THE DESIRED GEAR POSITION. THE CONTACT INFORMED THE DEALER, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED A SECOND TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT, DUE TO THE RECALL REPAIR BEING COMPLETED, THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO PROVIDE ANOTHER REPAIR. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE 81,728.
I HAVE BEEN HAVING A LOT O PROBLEMS WITH MY LOW BEAMS I'VE CHANGED THEM 3 TIMES CHECKED OUT ALL FUSES AND WIRING SOMETIMES THEY WILL WORK MOSTLY NOT SEEN ALIT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE JUST SAYING THANK YOU
SMELL FUEL AND THERE IS A LEAK NEAR UPPER TANK BY THE FUEL PUMP.
IT SAYING SERVICE POWER STEERING. THEN I CAN'T TURN THE CAR. I TURN IT OF AND BACK ON THEN IT WORKS. I'VE HAD PROPLEMS WITH THIS CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT.
TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP FOR RECALL ON THE ELECTRICAL POWER STEERING MODULE. AFTER WORK COMPLEDED HIGH STOP LIGHT WORKS RANDOMLY WITH REGULAR BRAKE LIGHTS, FRONT SPEAKERS STOPPED WORKING, DASH LIGHTS WORK RANDOMLY, SERIUS RADIO STOPPED WORKING, WHEN TURNING ON AC DOES NOT START WORKING IMMEDIATELY, MUST ROMP ON GAS TO CREATE A VACUMN DROP AND AFTER ABOUT 3 MILES IT WILL START WORKING. HAVE HAD FOUR SETS OF BRAKES AND ROTORS IN 155,000 MILES. CAN BE MOVING OR STATIONARY FOR THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEM TO HAPPEN.. SUPPOSEDLY A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM HOWEVER SINCE I WAS OVER 150,000 MILES I AM SOL.
THE SUNROOF SUDDENLY RIPPED FROM THE CAR AT HI SPEED( INTERSTATE); WHILE AIRBORNE STRUCK A WINSHIELD OF A CAR BEHIND ME CAUSING PROPERTY DAMAGE ' THE SUNROOF WAS CLOSED AND ALL WINDOWS ROLLED UP SO NO PRESSURE CHANGES WAS NOT THE FACTOR .
WHEN DRIVING THE CAR THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT DOING RIGHT. IT IS ACTING LIKE IT IS NOT GIVING GAS TO MOVE FORWARD, SKIPPING FROM 1ST GEAR UP TO 4TH GEAR LIKE ITS IN OVERDRIVE. ALMOST CAUSED A CAR ACCIDENT TODAY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. I TRIED TO PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE TO BACK UP AND IT WOULDN'T BACK UP IN REVERSE. IN ORDER TO MOVE I HAD TO PUSH THE GAS AND RUN UP THE RPM JUST TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY. VERY UNSAFE. I HAVEN'T EVEN HAD THE CAR 2 MONTHS YET AND THIS IS HAPPENING. WHEN I FIRST GOT THE CAR FEB 27TH 2017 THIS ISSUE WAS NOT HAPPENING. PLEASE HELP WITH THIS ISSUE. I AM A SINGLE MOM AND 6 WEEKS AWAY FROM HAVING MY SECOND CHILD, I NEED A SAFE VEHICLE FOR MY CHILDREN.
SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON
PURCHASED 2008 MALIBU IN EARLY 2017. PREVIOUS OWNER STATED BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF ON THEIR OWN. HAD IT CHECKED OUT WAS TOLD THAT THEIR WAS A RECALL ON IT. HAD RECALL 13036 WORK DONE 3/31/17. STILL HAD PROBLEMS. TOOK TO DEALER ON 7/03/17 WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE AND NO CODES THEY RECALIBRATED BPPS. STILL HAD PROBLEMS DROVE IT THAT WAY TOOK IT BACK TO DEALER ON 7/06/18. WAS TOLD SAME THING AND SAME WORK PERFORMED. SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. READ ONLINE THAT RECALL DIDN'T SOLVE PROBLEM. ON 9/10/18 DEALER STATED BEEN HAVING A LOT OF SAME PROBLEMS WITH OTHER CARS THEY REPLACED BCM & BRAKE PEDAL SENSOR. HAD WORK DONE. SO FAR SEEMS TO HAVE WORKED. NEVER FELT SAFE WHILE DRIVING WITH BRAKE LIGHTS ON AND WHILE STOPPED NO BRAKE LIGHTS ON. CAN'T BELIEVE THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD LET THIS PROBLEM GO ON AS WELL AS DEALERS
WHEN I START THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL DOES NOT MOVE AT ALL. ON THE DASH IT SAYS POWER STEERING THEN ESC OFF POPS UP. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR A FEW TIMES IN ORDER FOR IT TO BE ABLE TO MOVE AND THE MESSAGE IS GONE. WHEN IM DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND TURNING GETS A LITTLE STIFF. I DRIVE BOTH CITY STREETS AND HIGHWAYS IM AFRAID IT WILL LOCK UP ON ME WHEN IN MOTION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING ABILITY AND THE STEERING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT HAD TO FORCE THE VEHICLE INTO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, RESTARTED, AND THEN DROVE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER THE FOLLOWING DAY WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN FAILED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
POWER STEERING WARNING IS DISPLAYED ON DIAGNOSTIC CENTER. HARD TO TURN STEERING WHEEL WHEN MAKING A LEFT OR RIGHT TURN. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN OR STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS, THE LATCHES FAILED TO CONNECT. AS A RESULT, THE DOORS REMAINED OPEN AND THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
THIS CAR HAS 77000 MILES, AND DUMPING FUEL FROM TOP OF FUEL TANK ON TO EXHAUST SYSTEM WHILE BEING DRIVEN. FUEL IS ALSO SMELLED AFTER BEING DRIVEN.
ABOUT A DAY AGO, I WAS TAKING MY WIFE TO WORK AT 6AM AND THE POWER STEERING STOPPED RESPONDING,WHILE I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I MADE IT BACK HOME AND LATER THAT DAY I WENT TO THE MECHANIC AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRIC AND THAT ITS NEEDS A NEW STEERING COLUM SENSOR AND ALSO THEY TOLD ME THAT THERE ARE THREE OPEN RECALLS ON MY CAR AND ONE ADDRESSES THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, SO THEY DIRECTED ME TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER IN THE TOWN I LIVE IN, AND THE DEALER REFUSES TO FIX THE RECALL FOR THE POWER STEERING AND SAYS THAT IF I WANT IT FIXED I HAVE TO PAY $713.37. I THOUGHT THAT THE ANY CHEVY DEALERSHIP COULD FIX THE RECALLS ON YOUR CHEVY CAR.
BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE DURING NORMAL DRIVING WHEN BRAKES PEDAL IS NOT BEING PUSHED. BRAKE LIGHTS THEN TURN OFF WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED AND DON'T COME BACK ON UNTIL BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED AT LEAST HALF WAY DOWN. CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK WHEN THIS IS HAPPENING. PROBLEM HAPPENS WHEN DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR ABOUT A MONTH THIS TIME. WAS PREVIOUSLY FIXED UNDER A RECALL BUT THE FIX IS NOT WORKING.

THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED TO OPERATE THE STEERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V153000 (STEERING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 229,000.

IN ADDITION, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE AND SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.
FOR SOME TIME ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES. TOOK TO DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BUT THEY CLAIMED THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. TOOK VEHICLE AGAIN AND NOW FIND THEIR WAS EXTENDED COVERAGE TO COVER THIS SAFETY DEFECT, HOWEVER, I AM 20,000 MILES OVER WHERE THEY WANT TO COVER THIS ISSUE. (GM KNEW I WAS HAVING THIS STEERING ISSUE, HOWEVER, NEVER TOLD ME IT COULD BE FIXED UNTIL AFTER THE EXPIRATION OF THEIR SPECIAL COVERAGE.) I HAD BEEN REPORTING ISSUES TO BOTH THE DEALER AND GM CUSTOMER SERVICE SINCE APPROXIMATELY 29,000 MILES. I GAVE UP TRYING TO GET IT FIXED AFTER DEALER TOLD ME SEVERAL TIMES THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION AT HIGHWAY SPEED AND POWER STEERING STOPS WORKING MAKING CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE VERY DIFFICLUT.
SUDDEN LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) ASSIST THAT COULD OCCUR AT ANY TIME WHILE DRIVING.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT CONTINUALLY GOING OUT AFTER CHANGING LIGHTBULB AND PIGTAIL. ENDED HAVING TO CHANGE ITEM THAT WAS ALREADY KNOWN BY CHEVROLET TO FAIL BUT REFUSES TO PUT IN RECALL.
ESC LIGHTS, AND TRACTION STABILITY CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF OFTEN, REGARDLESS OF CURRENT WEATHER CONDITIONS. I NOTICED IT HAPPENS MORE WHEN THE WEATHER IS COOLER. STARTED AROUND 29K MILES ON MY CAR. WHEN THE WARNING LIGHTS COME ON, MY BREAK LIGHTS STAY ON. COMPUTER DOESN'T KICK BACK ANY CODES UNLESS THE WARNING LIGHTS THAT ARE ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE TRACTION CONTROL AND ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING, AND THE VEHICLE SHOOK. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
FUEL LINE IS CRACKED AND LEAKING, IT IS PART OF THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY. THEIR ARE RECALLS REGAURDING SIMILAR ISSUES ON VARIOUS MODELS THE SAME YEAR. THIS VEHICLE SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL AS WELL. I AM THE TECH WORKING ON THIS VEHICLE AND THIS IS THE SECOND ONE I HAVE SEEN WITHIN A YEAR. IT LEAKS FUEL FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK DOWN THE BACK AND ON THE EXHAUST PIPE. VERY DANGEROUS SAFETY SITUATION. I WILL KEEP THE OLD PART JUST IN CASE YOU WOULD LIKE IT.

ALSO, THE TIRE PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS LATER TAKEN TO FUTURE CHEVROLET OF SACRAMENTO (4811 MADISON AVE, SACRAMENTO, CA 95841, (916) 331-6777), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
THERE IS A RECALL NO 14116 AND 14116B INVOLVING THE TORQUE SENSOR ON 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU BUT NOT ON MY PARTICULAR VIN. IT CAUSES A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHICH I AM HAVING. ADDITIONALLY, WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND DETECTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO REFERRED THE CONTACT TO THE LOCAL DEALER FOR ASSISTANCE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED HOWEVER, NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TORQUE SENSOR FOR POWER STEERING FAILURE. LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING. SHAKING OF WHEEL WHEN STEERING.
POWER LOCKS HAVE ONLY WORKED FOR FRONT DOORS FOR AS LONG AS IVE HAD THE CAR, ABOUT A YEAR..... OVER THE PAST MONTH - SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON SHORTLY AFTER STARTING THE CAR ONE DAY. A FEW WEEKS LATER, SERVICE ESC AND TRACTION CONTROL POPPED UP AFTER STARTING THE CAR. NOW MY POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT AND DOES NOT RESET UPON RESTARTING THE CAR.
AS I'M DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 70 MPH I HEAR ABOUT 3 OR 4 DINGS GO OFF ALL AT ONE TIME. THE SERVICE ESC , ENGINE PWR REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION, AND ESC OFF WARNINGS CAME ON MY 2008 CHEVY MALIBU LT DASH AS WELL AS THE TRACTION WARNING LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. MY CAR ALMOST INSTANTLY STARTING TO DECELERATE AT AN EXCEPTIONAL SPEED. I HAD TO "FLOOR IT" TO MAKE IT STOP AND THEN IT SLOWLY ACCELERATED. ONCE I GOT HOME I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM AND A LOT OF PEOPLE WERE SAYING IT HAS TO DO WITH THE FUSE BOX OR THROTTLE BODY OR BOTH. I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT AND I DON'T HAVE A LOT OF EXTRA MONEY RIGHT NOW SO I'M KINDA STUCK DRIVING IT LIKE THIS FOR AWHILE SINCE IT IS NOT UNDER ANY TYPE OF WARRANTY AND I HAVE TO GO TO WORK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG WAS DEPLOYING FROM THE DRIVER SEAT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT A SENSOR FAILED, BUT IT WAS NOT A CONCERN. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT OBSERVED A LEAK COMING FROM THE VEHICLE AND TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, ONE MONTH LATER, THE CONTACT OBSERVED A LEAK AGAIN, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, AND AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE WAS HEARD. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE HEAD GASKET BEING PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED IMPROPERLY. THE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. ONE MONTH LATER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIRING WAS DONE IMPROPERLY AND NOT UP TO SAFETY STANDARDS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,723.
THIS MODEL CHEVY KEEPS BLOWING LOW AND HIGH BEAM HEADLAMPS REPEATEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING. A SEARCH ONLINE REVEALS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS PHENOMENON. CAREFULLY REPLACED OEM BULBS BLOW WITHIN AND EVERY 3-4 MONTHS. THERE ARE NO BULBS AVAILABLE WHICH PERFORM. VOLTAGE AT BULB LISTED AT 12VDC CAN'T HANDLE THE ACTUAL VOLTAGE FROM THE RUNNING VEHICLE. NEEDS RECALL SOLUTION.
HEADLAMP WIRING ASSEMBLY REQUIRED REPLACING AFTER PIG TAIL MELTED CREATING A POTENTIAL FIRE HAZARD. THIS OCCURRED TWICE 12/17/2015 AND 12/20/2017. MELTING OCCURRED EACH TIME. THIS IS A FIRE WAITING TO HAPPEN. INVOICES FOR EACH EVENT ARE ATTACHED
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLES BRAKE LIGHTS WILL SUDDENLY ILLUMINATE EVEN WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT BEING PRESSED. WHEN THIS HAPPENS, I TAP THE BRAKES AND THE LIGHTS GO OFF, ONLY TO TURN ON AGAIN WITHIN A FEW SECONDS OF NO LONGER BEING PRESSED. ALSO, IN MY DASH PANEL I AM RECEIVING A "SERVICE TRACTION" AND "SERVICE ESC" WARNING. 2008 CHEVY MALIBU POWER STEERING ASSIST IS LOST, A MESSAGE DISPLAYS ON THE DRIVER INFORMATION CENTER AND A CHIME SOUNDS TO INFORM THE DRIVER. WE WERE ADVISED THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE GM RECALL IN 2014, PER THE RECALL GENERAL MOTORS INFORMED THE NATIONAL HIGHWAY TRAFFIC SAFETY ADMINISTRATION THAT IT WOULD RECALL MORE THAN 1.3 MILLION VEHICLES IN THE U.S. THAT MAY EXPERIENCE A SUDDEN LOSS OF ELECTRIC POWER STEERING ASSIST. PER OUR DEALER THE 2008 CHEVY THAT WE OWN IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL HOWEVER, WE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT ISSUE LISTED IN THE RECALL. TO FIX THIS ISSUE THE DEALERSHIP IS REPLACING THE STEERING COUNCIL WHICH IS COSTING US $600.
