TAKATA RECALL. I WAS IN DRIVING MODE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED , CAUSING THE CAR TO STOP
WHILE DRIVING ONE DAY, I NOTICED THAT MY STEERING HAD STARTED TO TICK WHENEVER I WOULD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. TWO DAYS LATER, WHEN PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY MY POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT. I WAS THANKFUL THAT IT DID NOT HAPPEN WHILE I WAS DRIVING BECAUSE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THE CAR. THE STEERING WOULD NOT COME BACK ON FOR A WHILE THEN RANDOMLY AN HOUR OR SO LATER WHEN THE CAR WAS RESTARTED, THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK ON BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD TICK LIKE BEFORE, ONLY HARDER, THEN IT WENT BACK OUT AGAIN A SHORT WHILE LATER WHILE I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM THE GAS STATION. THANKFULLY THIS TIME, I WAS ALONE. EVER SINCE THAT TIME THE POWER STEERING HAS NOT RETURNED. I'VE HAD THE POWER STEERING MOTOR CHANGED AND THAT DID NOT SOLVE THE ISSUE AND I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY, AFTER READING TONS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, IT HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED AND CORRECTED. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE BEFORE THIS HAPPENS?
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2010 CHEV MALIBU 2LT SEVEN YEARS AGO. IT'S AUTOMATIC, HAS LOW MILES, WELL SERVICED, AND EXCELLENT UPKEEP. SINCE OWNERSHIP, I'VE NOT HAD ANY MAJOR PROBLEMS. HOWEVER, RECENTLY, WHILE DRIVING, AND GOING FROM LOW TO HIGHWAY SPEED, I NOTICED THE CAR INTERMITTENTLY "JERKED". IT SEEMED ALMOST AS IF GEARS WERE SLIPPING AND GETTING STUCK. I THOUGHT, THIS COULDN'T BE SAFE. UNFORTUNATELY, I HAD TO GET MY TOWED FOR SERVICE AFTER THE VEHICLE WOULDN'T MOVE BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T CHANGE GEARS. AFTER HAVING THE DIAGNOSED, I WAS TOLD THE TRANSMISSION FAILED DUE TO SOME "INTERNAL DEFECT" IN IT. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT! ABSOLUTELY UNCONSCIONABLE! I DID SOME RESEARCH AND LEARNED GM HAD SOME RECALLS BETWEEN 2008 - 2010 DUE TO TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. I LOVED MY MALIBU 2LT PRIOR TO RECEIVING THIS NEWS ABOUT THE TRANSMISSION. IT APPEARS, GM NEEDS TO TAKE ANOTHER LOOK AT THE SAFETY AND PERFORMANCE ON THE TRANSMISSIONS OF THE 2010 MALIBU.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STEER THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LACK OF ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER AND THE ESC, POWER STEERING, AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED AFTER THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE RESTARTED TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ESC FAILED. THE DEALER (GRAY-DANIELS CHEVROLET, 6080 INTERSTATE 55 NORTH FRONTAGE RD, JACKSON, MS 39211) INFORMED THE CONTACT THEY WOULD REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR A FEE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE LOST STEERING FUNCTIONALITY WHILE BEING OPERATED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE SERVICE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CORRECTED BY MANUALLY RESTARTING THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE RECENT FAILURES WERE NOT REMEDIED USING THIS METHOD DUE TO THE FAILURE BEING MORE SEVERE. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 119,000.
HEADLIGHT BULBS KEEP BURNING OUT AND RANDOM. PAID $432 TO CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO FIX PROBLEM AND IT IS STILL OCCURING.
EVERYTIME I TURN LEFT THERE IS SOME KIND OF CLICKING GRINDING NOISE.
SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION, PICTURE OF CAR SKIDDING, TIRES NEED AIR AND PICTURE OF TIRE THAT LOOKS FLAT KEEPS COMING UP ON MY PANEL. THIS NEVER HAPPENED PRIOR TO HAVING NEW TIRES AND BRAKES PUT ON MY CAR AT HENDRIX CHEVROLET IN DURHAM, NC. I ONLY HAVE 40+ THOUSAND MILES ON MY CAR. AT 20,000 MY RIGHT FRONT ROTAR AND BRAKES HAD TO BE REPLACE BECAUSE IT WAS ROARING AND I LITERALLY HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO MY HOME. I BOUGHT THE CAR NEW WHEN MY SON WORKED AT HENDRIX (THOUGHT IT WAS A GOOD IDEA). HE WASN'T WORKING THERE WHEN THIS HAPPENED BUT HE FIXED IT AND THEN HENDRIX SAID THEY COULD NOT REIMBURSE ME BECAUSE HE WASN'T A CURRENT EMPLOYEE. I LOVE MY CAR BUT HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT! PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT TO DO TO GET THE FIRST ISSUES I MENTIONED CORRECTED! I'M GETTING DIFFERENT ANSWERS FROM EVERYONE I TALK TOO. I SEE MANY PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET ARE COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR MALIBU AS WELL!
DRIVERS DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. DOOR LOCKS WORK BUT OUTSIDE AND INSIDE DOOR HANDLES/LATCHES WILL NOT OPEN DOOR. IT IS IN A SOLID STATE OF BEING LOCKED. THIE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WHEN PARKED AND IGNITION OFF NOR WITH IGNITION ON. BRAKES ENGAGED, BRAKES DISENGAGED DOESN'T MATTER. SAFETY ISSUE IN CASE I NEED TO GET OUT ASAP.
I HAVE 2010 CHEVY MALIBU I LOVE MY CAR IT HAS NEVER GIVEN ME ANY PROBLEMS THE WHOLE 3 YEARS OF OWNING IT JUST THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE. ONE DAY I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 25 MPH AND I CROSSED OVER AN INTERSECTION AND AS SOON AS I DID SO I PUSHED TO GAS PEDAL TO ACCELERATE A LITTLE AND I NOTICED THAT IT WASN'T GOING. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE I HAD MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR AND ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS RIGHT BEHIND ME AND COULD HAVE CAUSED A CAR CRASH. I DIDN'T REALIZE THAT THE CAR HAD SHUT OFF BECAUSE EVERYTHING WAS STILL WORK RADIO WAS ON , LIGHTS WERE WORKING. SO I PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE CAR COMPLETELY OFF AND WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON IT WOULDN'T START. THE ENGINE JUST KEPT TURNING OVER AND NOT GETTING A GOOD SPARK. AND IT ALSO CAUSED THE BATTERY TO FAIL SO I HAD TO GET A NEW BATTERY. I CHANGED THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR, THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AND THE CAR IS STILL DOING THE SAME THING. THIS IS A HUGE INCONVENIENCE FOR ME BECAUSE NO ONE CAN FIND OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS BECAUSE THE BATTERY DIED O LOST ALL DIAGNOSTIC CODES. NOW WHAT?
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON ALL THE TIME WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OFF.
AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, THE DASHBOARD CHIMED AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THIS HAS HAPPED TWO TIMES WITHIN THIS WEEK. THE FIRST INCIDENT WAS DURING AN ATTEMPT TO MANEUVER A CURVE AND THE SECOND INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON A STRAIGHTAWAY.
ENGINE POWER REDUCED WHILE I WAS DRIVING INTO MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL.
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY GOING 60 AND THE CAR STARTED REVVING REALLY HIGH UNTIL I GOT MY SPEED DOWN TO FORTY AND IT WOULDN'T GO MORE THAN 40. WHEN I STOPPED TO LET CAR COOL AND I RESTARTED IT, I DROVE IT AROUND THE BLOCK A FEW TIMES AND IT STARTED THE SAME REVVING AND NOT GOING FASTER TNAN 40. I TRIED TO BACK THE CAR INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD NOT GO.
BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ALL THE TIME. SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT ON. SERVICE CVS LIGHT ON.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING WITH OUT PRESSING THE BREAK PEDAL. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IT PRESSED THE LIGHTS GO OFF. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT FUCTIONING AND THE ESC INDICATOR LIGHT COMES ON.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SISBARRO DEMING SUPERSTORE (4211 NM-549, DEMING, NM 88030, (888) 445-0069) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING MODULE, STEERING ANGLE SENSOR, AND CLOCK SPRING NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 193,492.
BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. SERVICE ESC LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON AS WELL. UNSURE IF RELATED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE BOX, IDLE CONTROL SENSOR, MODULE CONTROL SENSOR, THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, OXYGEN CONTROL SENSOR, AND THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 173,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT AUTO SHOP WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MECHANIC RECOMMENDED THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO A TRANSMISSION INDEPENDENT DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (DON BROWN CHEVROLET, 2244 S KINGS HIGHWAY BLVD, ST. LOUIS, MO, 63110) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 8-3433690388. THE DEALER COULD NOT ASSIST AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,505.

THE POWER STEERING SENSOR WILL SUDDENLY GO OFF AND MY WHEEL LOCKS, I CANNOT TURN MY WHEELS, I FEEL REALLY UNSAFE I ALMOST CRASHED WITH MYSELF AND KIDS.
TRANSMISSION COMPLETLY WENT OUT WITH NO WARNING CROSSING A BUSY INTERSECTION. NO LIGHTS CAME ON, NO NOISES, WOULD BARELY GO THEN JERKED AND EXCELLERATION NOISE AS IF I REVED ENGINE UP BUT I DIDN'T THEN PULLED INTO PARKING SPOT AND IT WOULDNT GO INTO GEAR AND WOULD NOT MOVE. WHEN STARTED LATER THAT DAY IT RAN FINE AND 2 MINUTES FROM HOME IT DID THE EXACT SAME THING BUT NOW WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL AND JUST WHINES. I READ THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE FOR THIS MODEL CAR AND GM WILL NOT COVER BC WARRANTY RUMS OIT BEFORE THE 5 YEAR 60,000 MILES. SOMETHING NEEDS DONE ABOUT THIS. MY CAR ONLY HAS 57000 MILES ON IT.

THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,633. *LN CONSUMER STATED ON 9/17/11 CAR NOT GETTING POWER. MADE LOUD NOISE DROVE APPOX. 15 MILES. TOOK CAT TO MENKE MOTOR, TRANSMISSION FAILED HAD ENGINE REPAIRED FOR $2300.00 UPDATED 7/24/18*JB
THE SEAT BELT KEEPS DINGING LIKE THE SEATBELT IS NOT CONNECTED TO THE SEATBELT LATCH AND IT IS. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THE LIGHT GOES OFF SO THEY CAN NEVER FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. EXCEPT ONCE WHICH IT CAME BACK TO IT BEING THE SOLENOID SENSOR. THEY FIXED IT. BUT, ENGINE LIGHT STILL COMES ON. THE SEATBELT DINGS DOING THE WHOLE RIDE OR IF YOUR SITING STILL. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON OFF AND ON. JUST BOUGHT THE CAR 9/23/2017.
POWER STEERING FAILED FOR THE SECOND TIME ON SEPTEMBER 10, 2017. I HAD TO REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN IN NOVEMBER 2016 FOR THE SAME CONDITION. THERE IS A RECALL FOR CHEVY MALIBUS UP UNTIL THE 2009 MODEL YEAR AND CLEARLY THERE IS A WEAKNESS IN THE 2010. THIS FAILURE WAS WHILE I WAS PARKED IN A TIGHT SPOT AND COULDN'T GET OUT. I RESTARTED THE CAR UNTIL IT RECALIBRATED, BUT IT WILL UNDOUBTEDLY GO AGAIN. REPEAT OF PREVIOUS PROBLEM. ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION AFTER COMPLETE FAILURE AT 48,000 MILES IN JANUARY 2017. THAT WAS A MERE $4600. IT FAILED WHILE IN MOTION, BUT FORTUNATELY I WAS UPHILL FROM MY HOME AND I WAS ABLE TO ROLL IT TO THE CURB.
IN 2014 THERE WAS A RECALL INVOLVING THE ESC SYSTEM. MY VEHICLE WOULD HAVE ISSUES SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE, BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT WORK WHEN THE PEDDLE WAS PUSHED AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD BE ON WHEN YOU WOULD TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. MY VEHICLE WAS "FIXED" AND WAS WORKING PROPERLY FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. MY CAR NOW, ONCE AGAIN, HAS THE SERVICE ESC AND TRACTION CONTROL OFF WARNINGS COMING ON IN MY VEHICLE AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED DOWN THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. WHEN THE PEDAL IS RELEASED MY BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON. CURRENTLY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS. THIS WOULD HAPPEN WHEN I WAS SIMPLY BRAKING FOR A LIGHT. MY BRAKES WORK JUST NOT THE LIGHTS TO WARN OTHER DRIVERS THAT I AM APPLYING MY BRAKES.
IM HAVING ELECTRIC PROBLEMS WITH CAR. THE BRAKE LIGHT COME ON WHEN DRIVING AND NOT USING THE BRAKES. IT WILL GO OFF AND ON. THE DASH LIGHTS WOULD COME ON AND OFF . THE VECHILE LOST SPEED AS I WAS DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE. I THEN PUT IT IN PARK. AT THAT POINT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS BLINKING. THE CAR WAS SHAKING UNCONTROLLABLY AS IF IT WOULD ALL JUST FALL APART IN PIECES. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS HARD TO TURN AND ALSO RAPIDLY SHAKING. THE SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, AND A LIGHT WITH A CAR ON A CURVED ROAD WAS ALSO ON. THIS ALMOST CAUSED ME TO HIT A PARKED CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND ALL THE LIGHTS WERE OFF. I BELIEVE IT TO BE THE STREERING COLOUMN OR AN ELECTRIAL ISSUE. I READ ON SOME RECALLS AND I THINK IT IS SIMILAR TO THE RECALL #14E044000. HOWEVER, WHEN I SEARCH MY VIN IT IS NOT LISTED UNDER IT. YET IT IS THE SAME ISSUE.
MY CAR BRAKES LIGHTS KEEP GOING OFF AND MY CHEVROLET MALIBU 2010 CAR HESITATES WHEN DRIVING .
WHILE IN MOTION, MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU LTZ HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY GIVING ME A "SERVICE TRACTION" "ESC OFF" NOTICE AND THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ALSO WORKING INTERMITTENTLY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, BOTH OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME. THE FIRST TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE REPLACED INDIVIDUALLY BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. WHEN THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SHUT OFF AT ONCE, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JIM BROWNE CHEVROLET OF TAMPA, FLORIDA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CIRCUITS IN BOTH OF THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WERE FAULTY. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL; HOWEVER, THE YEAR AND MODEL OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 131,000.
IN 2015 WIPER TRANS FAILED AT HEAVY RAIN AND NEW ONE WAS INSTALLED BY BOB BELL CHEVROLET DEALER. IN AUGUST 2017, ON RAINY DAY ON I-95 TOWARD WDC WIPERS STOPPED WORKING AND WITH LIFE TREATING I DROVE THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP - POHANKA CHEVROLET THAT SAID THAT WIPER TRANS FAILED. I GOT FAILED TRANS - LOOKED AS A NEW, BUT IT IS LIFE THREATENING SITUATION WHEN ON FREEWAY DRIVER LOOSES VISIBILITY COMPLETELY. LOOKS LIKE THAT IS PERSISTENTLY FAILING GM PART NEEDED TO BE RECALLED IN ORDER TO KEEP US DRIVERS SAFE.
WHILE IN MOTION ON THE FREEWAY, MY VEHICLE BEGAN WOULD NOT SPEED UP WHEN I STEPPED ON THE GAS. THE CAR REVVED UP BUT IT WOULD NOT SPEED UP. I CONTINUED TO SLOW DOWN AS CARS APPROACHED ME FROM BEHIND. I WAS AFRAID THEY MIGHT HIT ME SO I MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHILE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD BUT IT WOULD ONLY REV UP AND NOT MOVE. I SWITCHED THE GEARSHIFT SEVERAL TIMES BETWEEN PARK, NEUTRAL, REVERSE AND DRIVE. I COULD ONLY GO A FEW FEET AT A TIME. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MY PARENTS HOUSE AND SITS THERE TODAY BECAUSE MECHANICS SAID THAT I NEEDED A NEW TRANSMISSION.
MY ESC LIGHT IS GIVING ME A FAILURE WARNING
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WITHOUT THE BRAKE PEDAL BEING PUSHED; THE BRAKE LIGHTS TO NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS PUSHED; DIFFICULTY ENGAGING AND DISENGAGING THE CRUISE CONTROL; DISABLEMENT OF CRASH THE TRACTION CONTROL, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL.
ESC,TRACTION,ABS LIGHTS COME ON WHILE CAR IS MOVING, AND WHEN FIRST STARTING, A TROUBLE CODE C0131 HAS BEEN RECORDED. THE PROBLEM STARTED IN JUNE OF 2010. A WEEK AFTER WE GOT THE CAR, THE DEALER CHANGED BRAKE LITE SWITCH, THE CAR HAS BEEN BACK TO SHOP 15-20 TIMES IT IS NOW 8-9-2017 NO ONE CAN FIX PROBLEM, MADE CALLS TO GM COSTOMER SERVICE MANY TIMES OVER THE 7 YEARS, STILL NO FIX, GM WANTS US TO PAY FOR REPAIR AND DIAGNOSTIC AS TOO THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY ,WE FEEL GM SHOULD REPAIR THE CAR FREE OF CHARGE AS TO THIS IS DANGEROUS AND HAS NEVER BEEN FIXED ,
WAS RECENTLY MADE AWARE (NUMEROUS TIMES IN THE LAST FEW WEEKS) THAT WHEN DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. AT TIMES WHEN NOT APPLYING THE BRAKES THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON ACTING AS IF I WAS BREAKING AND WHEN I BRAKE THE BRAKE LIGHTS TURN OFF (SO IN OTHER WORDS IT IS REVERSED). AROUND THE SAME TIME THAT THIS BEGAN TO HAVE LIKELY STARTED OCCURRING THE FOLLOWING WARNING LIGHTS BEGAN TO APPEAR; "ESC" AND SERVICE TRACTION" (I DO NOT KNOW IF THERE IS ANY RELATION BETWEEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND NOTED WARNING LIGHTS). I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE ESPECIALLY WITH MY FAMILY IN IT AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT GIVING OTHER DRIVERS AROUND ME THE APPROPRIATE INDICATION OF WHAT MY VEHICLES INTENTIONS ARE. THE BRAKE LIGHT PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING, WHEN IN MOTION, STATIONARY, HIGHWAY AND CITY STREET. POTENTIALLY PARTS THAT MAY REQUIRE REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR; BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM), BAS, AND HARNESS CONNECTOR.
THE ESC AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. ESC NOT WORKING SO I WAS VERY VERY CAUTIOUS DRIVING. I TOOK TO DEALER. $1200 + TO REPLACE 2 COMPUTER MODULES FOR BRAKES, STEERING, TRACTION. THIS BRINGS NUMBER OF MODULES NEEDING REPLACEMENT TO 4 ON THIS VEHICLE. EIGHT DAYS LATER, ALL THE SAME LIGHTS CAME ON AGAIN PLUS BRAKE FLUID LIGHT. CALLED DEALER AND TOLD TO BRING CAR IN FOR DIAGNOSTIC. I ASKED ABOUT SAFETY AND WAS TOLD TO CHECK BRAKE FLUID. I SAID I DON'T KNOW HOW. SO, I WENT TO CAR AND BRAKE WAS HARDER BUT WORKING. DROVE TO DEALER. WHEN I ARRIVED, THERE IS NO BRAKE FLUID LEFT. LUCKY I MADE IT TO THE DEALER. WAS TOLD EITHER PART NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY OR DEFECTIVE PART. THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT COULD HAVE COST MY LIFE OR SOMEONE ELSE'S LIFE. IN RESEARCHING LATER, I SEE A NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE WARNING LIGHTS AND MODULES. I AM LUCKY THERE WAS NO INCIDENT.
"TAKATA RECALL" THE TRACTION SERVICE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND SAYS SERVICE ESC , THEN BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON AND STAY ON WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I PRESS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL THE LIGHT SO OFF.
RECALL 13036D: I WAS EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED TO LEARN THAT THE ISSUE WITH MY 2010 MALIBU WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL 13036D. I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THIS CAR FOR OVER A YEAR AND HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE CAR FROM MULTIPLE TIMES. THEY HAVE PERFORMED THE "FIX" LISTED BELOW AS FOUND AT HTTPS://GM.OEMDTC.COM/4133/13036D-PRODUCT-SAFETY-RECALL-BRAKE-LAMP-MALFUNCTION-2004-2012-CHEVROLET-PONTIAC-SATURN. THIS RESOLVED THE ISSUE FOR LESS THAN A WEEK. MY CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT RESPOND. MY BRAKE LIGHTS CONSTANTLY TURN ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT PUSHED AND TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKE IS PRESSED. THIS IS A HIGHLY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND OBVIOUSLY DUE TO A FAULTY PRODUCT. THERE IS NO WAY THAT THIS COULD HAVE BEEN PREVENTED BY THE CONSUMER, ME. THE LAST TIME I TOOK THE CAR IN TO HAVE THIS LOOKED AT THEY TOLD ME THAT THE BODY CONTROL MODULE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED AND THE PART IS $600. THAT IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE. WHY ON EARTH, WOULD I PAY TO HAVE A PART REPLACED WHEN THE COMPANY, THAT MEANS YOU CHEVY, IS AWARE THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE WHICH IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TO THE CUSTOMER. I HAVE BEEN A CHEVY OWNER ALL MY LIFE AND I HAVE ALWAYS RECOMMENDED YOUR PRODUCT TO PEOPLE LOOKING TO PURCHASE NEW OR USED VEHICLES, DUE TO THE RELIABILITY I HAVE EXPERIENCED. BUT THIS ISSUE IS MORE THAN ENOUGH FOR ME TO NEVER WANT TO DEAL WITH YOUR COMPANY AGAIN. IF YOU KNOW THE PART IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE WORKAROUND DOES NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVE THE ISSUE THEN THE PART NEEDS TO BE REPLACED ON YOUR DIME AND NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF THE CUSTOMER. THAT SHOULD BE COMMON SENSE AND REALLY JUST GOOD BUSINESS. I HOPE YOU, AS A COMPANY, CAN SEE THE LIGHT AND RESOLVE THIS ISSUE WITHOUT NEEDING A LOYAL CUSTOMER TO SEND AN ANGRY EMAIL FOR SOMETHING THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN RESOLVED AS SOON AS THE PROBLEM AROSE.

THE VEHICLE JUST WON'T START SOMETIMES AND I HAVE NUMEROUS PEOPLE SAYING IT IS THE SECURITY MALFUNCTION IN THE VEHICLE PREVENTING THE VEHICLE WON'T START. I'VE SPENT SO MUCH TIME AND MONEY. ENGINE POWER DROPS SUDDENLY ON HIGHWAY OR IN TRAFFIC AFTER 45MINS OF DRIVING, REDUCED ENGINE POWER, SERVICE ENGINE, SERVICE AIRBAG MESSAGES COME ON ALSO ESC MESSAGE THEN ENGINE STALLS AND MOVES AT ABOUT 10MPH FROM DRIVING AT ANYWHERE BETWEEN 30MPH TO 70MPH. RECURRING FOR THE LAST TWO MONTHS CAN'T BE FIXED AFTER SEVERAL CHEVY DEALER WORKSHOP VISITS AND COSTS
BRAKE LIGHTS ON WHEN BRAKE NOT APPLIED. BRAKE LIGHTS ARE OFF WHEN BRAKES ARE APPLIED. REF. RECALL 14V252000. TO DATE 4 RETURNS TO DEALER TO FIX BUT ISSUE STILL PRESENT. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND LAST OCCURRENCE RESULTED IN NEAR END COLLISION FROM VEHICLE BEHIND.
TAKATA RECALL THE BREAKS ARE COMING ON WHEN THE BREAK IS NOT ENGAGED AND WHEN THE BREAK LIGHT IS ENGAGED IT DOESN'T COME ON. I HAVE BEEN TO GET A BREAK LIGHT SWITCHED OUT TWICE AND STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. OVER AND OVER AND THE SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT ALSO SEEMS TO KEEP COMING ON AND THEY CANNOT FIGURE OUT WHY. I AM WASTING MONEY BECAUSE NO ONE CAN SEEM TO FIGURE I THEY PROBLEM. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND NEEDS TO BE UNDER RECALL.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER AND A FRONT PASSENGER HAD BEEN SEATED IN THE SEATS, THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED AND WITH NO WARNING THE SIDE AIR BAGS ON BOTH SIDES INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED WITH FORCE. IN ADDITION, ANOTHER AIR BAG IN THE CEILING DEPLOYED AS WELL. AN UNKNOWN SUBSTANCE EMITTED INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE INSURANCE COMPANY WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND THE MANUFACTURER TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE CONTACT WAS WAITING FOR THE MANUFACTURER TO DIAGNOSE AND PROVIDE A SOLUTION TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT WAS UNCERTAIN IF HIGH HUMIDITY WAS A FACTOR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE "SERVICE AIRBAG SOON" MESSAGE KEEPS COMING ON. I HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE AT THE DEALERSHIP. THEY INDICATED THAT THE AIRBAG MODULE IS FAULTY. THE CAR IS ONLY 7YRS OLD AND HAS LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON IT, THIS SHOULD NOT BE AN ISSUE. SINCE IT IS A MANUFACTURES FAULTY PART I FEEL THAT THEY SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART AS I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. HOWARD PONTIAC OF AMHURST, ILLINOIS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PERFORMED A FUEL PUMP RELAY AND SEAT BELT RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 55,000.
SINCE I DROVE THIS CAR OFF THE LOT IN 2010, ONCE EVERY SIX MONTHS OR SO, THIS CAR WILL SUDDENLY DOWNSHIFT GREATLY REDUCING THE SPEED. IT IS THE EQUIVALENT OF ENGINE BRAKING. IT WAS UNDER AN UNFIXED RECALL WHEN I PURCHASED IT. THE DEALERSHIP, PARKWAY CHEVROLET, MADE MULTIPLE ATTEMPTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT IT STILL PERSISTS TO THIS DAY. GIVEN THE SUDDEN DECELERATION THAT THIS CAUSES, AND THE ONLY RESOLUTION IS TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND RESTART IT, I FEEL THIS PROBLEM CAN CAUSE DEATH TO THE OCCUPANTS OF THE CAR. THE MOST COMMON TIME THAT THIS HAPPENS IS WHEN THE DRIVER IS CHANGING LANES AND THEY GO OVER A RAISED LANE MARKER - ONE OF THOSE LITTLE DOTS SEPARATING LANES IN THE SOUTHERN STATES. THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED WAS TWO DAYS AGO.
