TAKATA RECALL. WHEN CAR IS RUNNING I HAVE STEERING FAILURE. HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT. ALARM SOUNDS AND ON DASH IT SAYS POWER STEERING AND ESC OFF AND SERVICE ESC.
WHILE DRIVING ON BUSY HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING LIGHT AND ESC LIGHT COMES ON AND THERE WAS LOSS OF POWER STEERING. IT BECAME VERY HARD FOR MY DAUGHTER TO TURN THE WHEEL. AFTER STOPPING AND TURNING OFF ENGINE, SHE RESTARTED AND GOT THE POWER STEERING BACK BUT THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND MOVED ON IT'S OWN. LATER THAT WEEK THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT HAS NOT COME BACK. I'M THANKFUL SHE WASN'T HURT AND THE NUMBERS OF THE EXACT SAME COMPLAINT ON THIS CAR IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. THE MANUFACTURERS NEED TO STEP UP AND DO THE RIGHT THING.
I HAVE CHANGE THE LIGHTS ON MY WIFE'S MALIBU 4 TIMES IN THE PAST 2 YEARS I BELIEVE THERE MAY BE A PROBLEM OR DEFECTED HARNESS. AFTER TALKING TO OTHER OWNERS THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUES. THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED THE LIGHT SAID HE BELIEVES HE CHANGED SEVERAL LIGHTS ON MALIBU AND THEY CONTINUE TO GO OUT. HE BELIEVES CHEVY HAS AN HARNESS PROBLEM
POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR AND OTHER INDICATION ON HARD. MANUAL SAYS CONTACT DEALER. DEALER SAYS THIS VIN NOT IN RECALL WHICH WAS ISSUED.
POWER STEERING WARNING IS COME ON WHEN TRY TO START CAR . NOT SAFETY TO DRIVE .WHAT TO DO???
FIRST OF ALL I AM A MUSICIAN AND THIS CAR HAS CUT MY FINGERS BADLY ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. ONCE I WAS AT AN AUDITION AND BLOOD WAS EVERYWHERE. YOU KNOW ABOUT THIS PROBLEM CAUSE THE WEB SAYS YOU HAVE RECEIVED MANY MANY MANY COMPLAINTS. LISTEN IF THE CHROME TAPE ON DOOR HANDLES INSIDE AND OUT PEELS AND CUTS THEM DON'T ALLOW AUTO MAKERS TO USE IT PLEASE! WHEN YOU ARRIVE IN FULL DRESS A SUIT OR NICE CLOTHES AND YOU OPEN YOUR DRIVERS DOOR OR PASSENGER AND THE TAPE SLICES YOUR FINGER LIKE A MEAT SLICER AND BLOOD IS EVERYWHERE. I WAS SET TO PLAY MUSIC TONIGHT AND NOW I CAN'T. I AM EXTREMELY UPSET WHY LET THEM KEEP USING A PRODUCT THAT PEOPLE KEEP COMPLAINING TO YOU ABOUT?
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN GIVING ME ISSUES FOR THE PAST MONTH OR TWO WITH THE ECS TRACTION LIGHT THAT KEEPS COMING ON . I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP ON AND OFF AND THEY KEEP REPLACING SENSORS AND NOTHING HELPS. IT ALMOST FEELS LIKE THE ENGINE IS MISSING WHEN THE LIGHT COMES. ON. THE CAR ACTS LIKE IT IS IN SLOW MOTION AND IT CUT OFF ON ME STOPPED AT A REDLIGHT. NOTHING WOULD TURN ON I WAS ALMOST HIT BY CARS THAT WERE COMING BEHIND ME. NOTHING CAME ON AT ALL NO LIGHTS IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. APPARENTLY ALL MALIBU'S ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE SINCE 2005 MODELS UP TO 2015 MODELS. IT APPEARS IT IS THE CAM LINE THAT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED MINE IS BROKEN AND THE WIRES ARE FRAYED ACCORDING TO THE CODE THAT IS BEING PUT OUT. THIS SHOULD HAVE BECOME A RECALL FOR ALL OF THESE MALIBU'S. A LIFE OR REALLY BAD ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. I WAS TOLD THAT CHEVROLET DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS THAT IS WHY THERE IS NO RECALL. TO REPAIR THIS IF IT IS REPAIRABLE COULD BE IN THE THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I WONT PAY IT I WILL TRADE MY CAR IN FOR A FOREIGN VEHICLE. I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN A CHEVROLET PERSON BUT NOT ANYMORE. I FEEL LET DOWN THAT NO ONE IS LISTENING AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. THANK YOU
MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU IS HAVING FUEL SYSTEM ISSUES. THE VEHICLE IS LEAKING GAS FROM THE FUEL TANK LOCATED IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE NEAR THE EXHAUST SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE TENDS TO LEAK WHEN IT IS NOT IN MOTION.
COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING , WHILE DRIVNG , STEERING WHEEL CONSTANTLY SHAKING BY ITSELF. ALSO REPLACING HEADLIGHTS AN BRAKE LIGHTS EVERY COUPLE MONTHS.

VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY.ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON.HAD TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTART BEFORE I WENT INTO THE DITCH OR HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION WITH ANOTHER CAR.UPON RESTARTING THE ENGINE THE LIGHT WENT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL WORKED AGAIN.NOW IT MOVES ON ITS OWN AND MAKES A NOISE.I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN AGAIN.AND I'M FED UP WITH THIS CAR AND THE RECALL NOTES I'VE BEEN READING ABOUT YOUR COMPANY.
STIFF STEERING; WILL NOT TURN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THE TRACTION POWER INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT PULLED THE VEHICLE OVER, TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, AND THE POWER STEERING BEGAN TO OPERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED (KENDALL AUTO MALL, 15700 IDAHO CENTER BLVD, NAMPA, ID 83687) AND STATED THAT NO RECALLS WERE ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE VIN SEARCH REVEALED ONE RECALL FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL, HYDRAULIC); HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
PERIODICALLY, UPON INITIAL SWITCH-ON, POWER STEERING / ESC CONTROL ERROR MESSAGES FLASH AND POWER STEERING IS INOPERATIVE (VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN). SWITCHING OFF IGNITION AND RESTARTING USUALLY CLEARS THE PROBLEM. IN ADDITION, WHILE IDLING (STOP LIGHT) THE STEERING WHEEL PULSES OR VIBRATES SLOWLY WITH NO HANDS ON THE WHEEL. THIS SEEMS TO BE GETTING WORSE WITH TIME; AND HAS OCCASIONALLY HAPPENED WHILE THE CAR WAS DRIVING. TAKING FOR REPAIR TOMORROW.
I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING IN THE CAR NOT WORKING. IT WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING BUT IF THE CAR IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED A FEW MINUTES LATER IT WILL WORK FINE FOR A FEW MILES.
THE POWER STEERING FAILS INTERMITTENTLY. THIS MORNING IT ALMOST CAUSED ME TO WRECK WHILE GETTING OFF THE INTERSTATE. I WENT TO TURN ON THE OFF-RAMP AND MY POWER STEERING FAILED, FOLLOWED BY SEVERAL MESSAGES ON MY INFORMATION DISPLAY. (POWER STEERING, ESC) ONCE I TURN THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN, MY POWER STEERING RETURNS. SINCE THEN IT CONTINUES TO SHUT DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING. AFTER LOOKING INTO THE ISSUE ONLINE, I NOTICE A LARGE RECALL ON 2010 MALIBU'S FOR THIS EXACT REASON, BUT SOMEHOW MINE IS NOT COVERED. HOW IS THIS POSSIBLE WHEN IT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE? THIS IS BECOMING A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN.
STEERING POWER SHOWS IN MY CAR, LOOSING THE CONTROL OF MY WHEEL
POWER STEERING LOSS WHILE DRIVING. ESC LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS SHAKING. RESTARTED CAR AND PROBLEM WENT AWAY. GOT HOME AND RESTARTED CAR. LOST POWER STEERING. ESC LIGHT CAME ON SAID IT TURNED OFF.
ESC LIGHT COMES ON AND OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS
THE CAR WAS WORKING FINE UNTIL ONE MORNINGI GOT A MESSAGE AS I WAS DRIVING UP A HILL THAT THE ENGINE POWER WAS REDUCED AND THE ESC WAS ACTIVE. THE CAR BEGAN TO SHAKE AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20MPH
TWO DAYS AGO MY HUSBAND, TWO CHILDREN AND I WERE DRIVING AT ABOUT 40-45 MPH WHEN OUR 2010 CHEVY MALIBU DRASTICALLY SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T ACCELERATE WITH THE GAS PEDAL PRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AT THE SAME TIME SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED ILLUMINATED ON OUR DASH. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO COAST INTO A GAS STATION. AFTER TURNING THE CAR OFF AND ON AGAIN, CHECKING UNDER THE HOOD AND SITTING FOR OVER 30 MINUTES THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTED. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AT ALL. WE HAD TO HAVE A TOW TRUCK COME GET THE CAR AND BRING IT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP. TODAY WE RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DELEARSHIP SAYING WE NEEDED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY AND IT WOULD COST $630. THIS DOESN'T MAKE SENSE AS THE CAR HAS ONLY 13,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I PUT THE VIN INTO THE RECALL DATABASE AND THE ONLY RECALL ATTACHED TO OUR VIN IS THE BRAKE LAMP MALFUNCTION. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE LOOKED INTO BY THE MANUFACTURER.
ON MY 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT. LOSS OF POWER STEERING ALMOST DIED ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT .
PULLED OUT OF CAR WASH AND ONTO THE HIGHWAY (SPEED LIMIT IS ONLY 40) THROUGH TOWN, POWER STEERING WENT OUT AND LIGHT BEGAN DISPLAYING WITH AUDIBLE SOUND AS WELL AS SERVICE ESC. THE MILEAGE ON MY VEHICLE IS 150,760 WHEN THIS OCCURRED. THERE IS CURRENTLY A BULLETIN PUBLISHED REFERENCING THIS PROBLEM (15356) IN WHICH IT APPEARS TO ONLY WARRANT A REPAIR AT MANUFACTURER COST IF 150,000 MILES/TEN YEARS. FROM READING ONLINE FORUMS, I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE TO "JUST" MISS THE FAILURE AND MANUFACTURER REIMBURSEMENT. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED NO MATTER THE MILEAGE.
MY 2010 MALIBU 2LT 6 CYLINDER ENGINE HAS A WAVE PLATE FAILURE. THIS CAUSES REVVING OF THE ENGINE NON-MOVEMENT LOW SPEEDS AND IT COMES AND GOES AS IT WANTS. GENERAL MOTORS HAS NOT INCLUDED THIS EVEN THOUGH THIS CAR WAS BUILT IN 2009. IN WHICH AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS ISSUED FOR THIS ECACT PROBLEM SEE GM BULLETIN # 14404 THIS DANGEROUS AND ALSO A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAR.
MY CAR CURRENTLY HAS THE ENGINE LIGHT ON AND WILL SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN AND SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE READING ON THE DASH SAYS LOW TRACTION ECS OFF AND THEN FLASHED ENGINE POWER REDUCED. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY CAN NOT FIGURE OUT WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I AM CURRENTLY SPENDING MONEY TO FIX SEVERAL DIFFERENT THINGS AND NONE OF THEM ARE WORKING. I HAVE READ MANY FORUMS WHERE CHEVY OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM BUT YET THERE IS NO RECALL. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN YOUR CAR SLOWS DOWN SUDDENLY AND SIGNIFICANTLY. MY CAR HAS SLOWED WHILE I WAS IDLE, DRIVING ON THE STREET, AND DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY.
JULY 2015, DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MILES AN HOUR, STEERING LOCKED UP ON ME AND HAD TO POWER THE VEHICLE OFF THE ROAD WITH THE DASH SAYING, "ESC POWER STEERING". IN BETWEEN STARTS, THE WHEEL UNLOCKED AND THE DASH MESSAGE WAS GONE. I STOPPED AT A GM AGENT AND WAS TOLD THEY COULD ONLY HELP IF IT WAS STILL SHOWING ON THE DASH. THIS PROBLEM COUPLED WITH A CONSTANT TWITCHING OCCURRED OVER 10 TIMES IN 3 YEARS; AND IN JANUARY 2018 WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY IT LOCKED UP AND THE POWER STEERING IS SINCE GONE, AND THE TWITCHING IS SCARY WORSE. THE CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED AS THE WHEEL WILL NOT TURN. THIS PROBLEM IS GOING TO KILL SOMEONE IF NOT FIXED SOON. I AM GLAD I GET TO LIVE ANOTHER DAY TO SHARE MY EXPERIENCE.
MY VEHICLE WAS GIVING A WEIRD VIBE WHEN I DROVE IT BUT THE MECHANIC SAID IT JUST NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT. SO I GOT THAT DONE. SHORTLY AFTER IT STARTED AGAIN, THIS TIME IT STARTED THIS WEIRD TWITCH IN THE STEERING COLUMN AS WELL. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT, WARNING LIGHTS FOR POWER STEERING AND ECS FLASHED CONTINUOUSLY. I PARKED AND TURNED THE CAR OFF TO GO GET FLUID. WHEN I GOT BACK REALIZED NO RESERVOIR. SO I TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN. HOWEVER, IT STOPS WORKING RANDOMLY WITHOUT ANY TYPE OF INDICATION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT A GREEN LIGHT, ANOTHER VEHICLE STRUCK THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE STRUCK A POLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND NECK INJURIES THE REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE POWER STEERING
MALIBU SUDDENLY FLASHED SERVICE ESC/ ESC OFF/ POWER STEERING. ALL STEERING CONTROLS OF THE VEHICLE WERE LOST. CAR MUST BE STEERED MANUALLY. AFTER TURNING CAR OFF, ALL LIGHTS AND MESSAGES DISAPPEAR AND POWER STEERING WORKS FOR APPROXIMATELY 2-3 MILES BEFORE SAME MESSAGES APPEAR AND POWER STEERING IS LOST AGAIN. I CONTACTED LOCAL CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPARTMENT WHERE THEY LOOKED UP ALL RECALLS ON MY CAR AND STATED THERE WERE TWO RECALLS, NEITHER OF WHICH WERE RELATED TO MY ISSUE. THEY WERE UNCERTAIN OF REASONING FOR LOSS OF POWER STEERING BUT HAVE HAD SEVERAL SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT YEAR OF MALIBU.
RED WARNING :SERVICE AIRBAG". CHECKED VIN ON "TAKATA RECALL" WHICH SAYS MY VEHICLE IS NOT INVOLVED. CAME ON A WEEK AGO. GOES OFF WHEN I TURN OFF CAR. USUALLY COMES ON WITHIN 5 TO 15 MINUTES OF STARTING CAR. NO INDICATION AS TO WHICH AIRBAG.
WHEN STARTING VEHICLE, "SERVICE ESC" AND "POWER STEERING" IS DISPLAYED AND THE POWER STEERING IS DISABLED. OCCASIONALLY, TURNING OFF THE CAR AND THEN RESTARTING IT, WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL, WILL CORRECT THE PROBLEMS. ADDITIONALLY, THE STEERING WHEEL TWITCHES BACK AND FORTH WITHOUT ME TOUCHING IT AT ALL TIMES WHETHER THE CAR IS MOVING OR STATIONARY. THIS PROBLEM IS NOT CORRECTED BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION FAILED. THE DEALER (CHEVROLET 21, 1100 HELLERTOWN RD, BETHLEHEM, PA 18015) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,694. *JS
POWER STEERING LIGHT COMES ON THEN POWER STEERING GOES OUT. I TURN CAR OFF THEN RE START AND IT GOES AWAY. THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON ME 7 TIMES THE OTHER DAY. IT GOES OUT JUST AFTER I START MY CAR SOMETIMES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS, ESPECIALLY SINCE MY DRIVE TO WORK IS GOING AROUND A LOT OF CURVES. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A WEEK. I'VE READ THERE ARE LOTS OF OTHER ISSUES WITH THIS WITH OTHER DRIVERS. LUCKILY I'VE MANAGED TO COAST IN STRAIGHT WAYS TO STOP SIGNS SO I CAN TURN OFF AND RESTART MY CAR. I MAY NOT BE THAT LUCKY ALWAYS.
I HAVE BEEN NOTICING AND BEEN TOLD MY BRAKE LIGHTS WERE ON WHILE DRIVING DOWN ROAD AND AT TIMES MY CRUISE CONTROL WOULD NOT FUNCTION AND IT HAPPENS DURING DAY WHEN I CAN'T TELL AND AT NIGHT WHICH OBVIOUSLY IS MORE APPARENT BUT NOT ANY LESS DANGEROUS ...PUTTING TWO TOGETHER MY BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD BE COMING ON AND WHEN I PRESS THE PEDAL TO SLOW DOWN THEY GO OFF...I BOUGHT THIS CAR USED AND AFTER GOOGLING TO FIND A FIX I SEE THERE ARE MANY RECALLS AND COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS ISSUE WITH THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL...AS IT DOES NOT LIST MY VIN TO BE INVOLVED WITH ANY RECALLS IT'S CONCERNING THAT THE SAFETY OF MY KIDS AND I COULD BE AT RISK. I CANNOT FIND ANY POSITIVE FIX TO THE PROBLEM YET AND SEE MANY PEOPLE SPENT HUNDREDS TO THOUSANDS AT DEALERSHIPS ONLY TO FIND THE PROBLEM NOT FIXED...IF THERE'S ANY ASSISTANCE INFORMATION OR GO TO'S YOU CAN PROVIDE I WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FLAG CHEVROLET (1000 E BELVIDERE RD, GRAYSLAKE, IL 60030). THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE OF THE DEALER'S DIAGNOSIS; HOWEVER, THE HEAD LAMP WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE HEAD LAMP FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. REPLACED BULB MULTIPLE TIMES, 100/HR SHOP LABOR JUST TO TAKE OFF BUMPER TO GET TO BULB. AT THIS POINT A TICKET WOULD HAVE BEEN CHEAPER.
I have replaced my transmission in 2019. Car still has transmission problems. I’ve replaced my passenger headlight and lamp but the light still won’t work. My brake lights or back blinkers don’t work even after changing the fuses. Tire pressure light won’t go off. I have had this car since 2010..
I WAS DRIVING ON THE I89 NORTH IN CONCORD, NH WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY STOPPED ACCELERATING AND THE RPMS WENT REALLY HIGH. I HEARD A SPINNING NOISE - LIKE SOMETHING WAS SPINNING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. PRESSING THE GAS PEDDLE DIDN'T INCREASE THE CARS SPEED. THEN I SHIFTED TO THE MANUAL MODE AND TRIED TO USE THE GEAR SHIFTING PADDLES TO SHIFT. I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO A GEAR TO GET ME TO THE NEXT EXIT EVEN THOUGH IT KEPT SHIFTING IN AND OUT OF GEAR WHILE I PROCEEDED SLOWLY OFF THE HIGHWAY. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON STEADY. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION THAT PUT MYSELF AND EVERYONE AROUND ME AT RISK OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT. ONCE I WAS OFF THE HIGHWAY AND SAFE, I PLUGGED IN MY DIAGNOSTICS TOOL I CARRY IN MY CAR (I TOOK A AUTO REPAIR CLASS A FEW YEARS BACK). THE DIAGNOSIS CODES THE CARS COMPUTER PROVIDED ARE P0776 AND P0700 - INDICATING A MAJOR MALFUNCTION OF THE TRANSMISSION AND A SOLENOID PROBLEM. I TOOK A PHOTO OF THE CODES. I FOUND OUT TODAY THAT THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE SAME ISSUE ON THE 2009 CHEVY MALIBU'S. THE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FROM 5/100K TO 10/120K. CLEARLY GM SHOULD DO THE SAME FOR THE 2010 MODELS AS WELL. IT'S THE SAME 6 SPEED TRANSMISSION.
I'VE HAD ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THE DEALER HAS NEVER BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT BECAUSE MY CAR NEVER SHOWED ANY "CODES". MY CAR HAS ACCELERATION PROBLEMS, THE RIGHT HEAD LIGHT SOCKET HARNESS KEEPS BURNING OUT AND I'M ALSO STARTING TO HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKE LIGHTS. MY BRAKE LIGHTS DON'T GO ON WHEN I PRESS ON MY BRAKE AND WHEN I DO THEY SOMETIMES STAY ON AFTER I TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE. THE ACCELERATION PROBLEM HAPPENS ON A FULL STOP AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I USUALLY GIVE MY SELF EXTRA SPACE TO ACCELERATE BECAUSE MY CAR FAILS AT TIMES. IN THE HIGHWAY MY CAR SOMETIMES STRUGGLES TO CATCH UP TO SPEED WITH THE OTHER CARS. THIS PROBLEM HAS ALMOST CAUSE AND ACCIDENT SEVERAL TIMES.
WHEN I STARTED MY VEHICLE, AN INDICATOR LIGHT IMMEDIATELY REPORTED A NEED TO SERVICE MY ESC AND MY POWER STEERING WAS DISABLED. AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE, IT SEEMED TO CORRECT ITSELF. NOW, WHEN DRIVING, MY STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES WHEN THERE IS NO TORQUE APPLIED TO THE WHEEL AND MAKES A CHATTERING NOISE PERIODICALLY. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR A WEEK NOW.
ESC-STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT ON, POWER STEERING ISSUE. CAR HAS TROUBLE TURNING AND IS A SAFETY HAZARD. GM HAS RECALLED 1/3/ MILLION CARS FOR THIS SAME ISSUE-AFFECTING MALIBU, COBALT'S AND HHR EDITIONS.
I AM CONSTANTLY GETTING A WARNING THAT MY POWER STEERING IS OUT AND "SERVICE ESC". I RESTART THE VEHICLE AND IT GOES AWAY FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME THEN I HAVE THE SAME WARNING SIGN ON THE DASH AND THE STEERING IS HARD AGAIN.
PLASTIC FUEL LINE FROM FUEL PUMP ON TOP OF TANK CRACKED LEAKING FUEL ALL OVER TOP OF FUEL TANK. I DO NOT KNOW WHEN THE CRACK FIRST APPEARED, BUT THE CAR WAS LEAKING GAS IN THE DRIVEWAY.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN CLOSED, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. GM WAS SAID TO HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM IN MAY,2014. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN IN AFTER THE RECALL DATE, AND TOLD ITS CLOSED. PROBLEM STILL OCCURS, NOT FIXED. TOLD BY CHEVY THAT IF THERE IS MORE REPAIRS TO BE DONE, IT IS NOT COVERED BY RECALL AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET. SAME PROBLEM IT HAD BEFORE BUT THE BCM WAS NEVER REPLACED. I WAS DRIVING AND LOST ALL POWER STEERING. WARNING CAME ACROSS STATED POWER STEERING & SERVICE ESC. HAD TO STOP, SHUT OFF ENGINE, START CAR, PROBLEM WENT AWAY FOR 2 MINUTES AND HAPPENED AGAIN. I HAD MY DAUGHTER WITH ME AT THE TIME. SCARY.
POWER STEERING ISSUE STARTED IN DECEMBER 2017 TO PRESENT. WHEN I WOULD START MY CAR IT WAS HARD TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL THIS HAS HAPPEN 34 TIMES I HAD TO TURN THE CAR OFF THEN RESTART THE CAR PROBLEM WENT A AWAY 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING ON DOWN THE STREET AND HIGHWAY THE POWER STEERING WOULD GO OUT. HAVE TO STOP TURN THE CAR OFF. RESTART THE CAR. CHEVY ON JANUARY 26, 2018 I HAVE CALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM THEY HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS A RECALL THE NUMBER IS 15356 CORPORATE OFFICE TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER SEE IF A CODE SHOWS UP IF THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. AND NO CODE THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO ABOUT IT. I HAVE TOLD THEM ANYTHING HAPPENS I WILL HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE. WHEN LEAVE FROM THE PLACE I WAS AT THE SAME THING HAPPEN AGAIN. BUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT HAD TO COME TO A STOP. TURN THE CAR OFF, AND ON SO I COULD DRIVE HOME. THIS 2 TIMES ON THE SAME NIGHT. MILEAGE WAS AROUND 89,000 NOT SURE

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE STEERING COLUMN REQUIRED EXCESSIVE EFFORT TO OPERATE THE VEHICLE NORMALLY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A LACK OF ENGINE POWER AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 40 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ESC, POWER STEERING, AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE CONTROL SENSOR AND THE POWER STEERING ASSEMBLY WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 98,000.
