TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, SHE WAS STOPPED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT AND ASKED WHY SHE WAS DEPRESSING THE BRAKES FOR SUCH LONG PERIODS OF TIME. THE CONTACT DETERMINED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATING WHEN NOT DEPRESSING THE BRAKES AND WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHT SENSOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, ONE WEEK LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BRAKE SENSOR A SECOND TIME AND THE FAILURE RECURRED THE FOLLOWING DAY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN FURTHER REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE GAS CAP ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME EQUIPPED WITH A LOCKED GAS CAP.
AIRBAG NOT OPERATING LIGHT, ON RIGHT AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. INTERNET SEEMS TO SHOW THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THE MALIBU AND A POSSIBLE ISSUE. *TR
ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE I GOT THIS CAR IN 2010, THE STEERING WHEEL HAS BECOME VERY DIFFICULT, IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE AT TIMES, TO TURN WHEN PARALLEL PARKING. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS IN EXTREME ROTATION, IT BECOMES VERY RIGID AND DIFFICULT TO TURN, MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO GET INTO AND OUT OF A PARALLEL PARKING SPOT. MOREOVER, ONCE THE VEHICLE IS OUT OF THE SPOT AND ON THE ROAD AGAIN, IT TAKES SEVERAL MILES BEFORE THE STEERING WHEEL IS BACK TO "NORMAL." I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, BUT TOLD ME NO PARTS WOULD BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FACT THAT NOTHING WAS PER SE "DEFECTIVE." THIS NOTWITHSTANDING, I CONTINUE TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM EVERY OTHER TIME I PARALLEL PARK AND HAVE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL IN AN EXTREME ROTATION. *TR
WHEN I START DRIVING MY CAR AT A LOW SPEED THE SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON SAYING SERVICE ESC. THEN IT TURNS THE TRACTION CONTROL OFF. WHILE THIS IS ON YOU CAN'T USE THE CRUISE CONTROL, THE CAR SHAKES, AND THE RPM'S FLUCTUATES ABNORMALLY. ALSO, WHEN I TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON THE LIGHT IS OFF UNTIL I START MOVING AGAIN. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL ILLUMINATE WITHOUT PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. ONCE THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS GO OUT AND WILL COME BACK ON APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS LATER. IN AN EMERGENCY STOP, THE DRIVER BEHIND ME WILL NOT HAVE WARNING THAT THERE IS AN EMERGENCY STOP. ADDITIONALLY, THE CRUISE CONTROL WILL TURN OFF AS THE SYSTEM BELIEVES THE BRAKES ARE BEING APPLIED WHEN THEY ARE NOT. THIS WILL HAPPEN WITHOUT WARNING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
BRAKE LIGHTS REMAIN ON WHILE DRIVING, TURN OFF MOMENTARILY BUT THEN TURN BACK ON. SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL NOTICE APPEARED IMMEDIATELY AFTER. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE SERVICE ESC WARNING INDICATORS HAD ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION, THE POWER STEERING CONTROL MODULE, AND THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING ) HOWEVER THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 92,958.
THE SERVICE ESC AND TRACTION LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO BE SERVICED. THE TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ABOUT $700 TO FIX THE ISSUE. TWO DAYS LATER THE LIGHT WAS BACK ON. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN AND HE SAID "OH THAT IS BAD." I TOOK IT BACK IN AND HE APOLOGIZED FOR NOT CHECKING ANOTHER OPTION REGARDING THIS SERVICE. HE TOLD ME IT WOULD COST ANOTHER $500 TO REPLACE THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL MODULE. THIS ALL HAPPENED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AFTER THE WARRANTY RAN OUT. I HAVE BEEN RESEARCHING AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE WITH THE 2010 MALIBUS. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO TOLD ME THAT THIS WAS A SAFETY ISSUE AND THAT THE BRAKES COULD LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. *TR
WHILE DRIVING THE SERVICE ESC/SERVICE TRACTION LIGHTS FLASH. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE BRAKE LIGHTS MALFUNCTION TURNING OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED AND ON WHILE I'M ACCELERATING. UPDATED 8/22/13 *CN
CAR WAS PURCHASED 12/2009. JUNE OF 2013 CAR WAS BROUGHT TO CHEVROLET DUE TO A RUMBLE IN STEERING WHILE TURNING AT LOW SPEEDS. STEERING GEAR WAS REPLACED. OCTOBER 2014 CAR WAS RETURNED AGAIN TO CHEVROLET WITH SAME PROBLEM. POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED. JUNE 2015 CAR WAS RETURNED AGAIN WITH SAME PROBLEM. STEERING GEAR, PUMP, AND ALL HOSES WERE REPLACED. AGAIN 6 MONTHS LATER THE RUMBLE HAS RETURNED. GM HAS STATED THEY WILL NO LONGER SPEND MONEY FIXING THE CAR EVEN THOUGH I HAVE FULL WARRANTY.
SERVICE ESC. TRACTION CONTROL OFF MESSES WITH TRANSMISSION. *JS
COMING TO A STOP ON AN OFF RAMP, BRAKES FAILED COULDN'T STOP. (IT HAD BEEN RAINING). 2ND INCIDENT ON JUNE 26, 2013, GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AND SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT WITH SEC LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR WAS POWERING DOWN AND STEERING WAS DIFFICULT. CALLED LANDMARK SERVICE CENTER IN TAYLORVILLE, ILLINOIS THEY TOLD ME TO TURN THE CAR OFF, THEN RESTART (OF COURSE LIGHTS WENT OUT) AND DRIVE IT TO THE NEAREST GM GARAGE. (I WAS OUT OF TOWN AT THE TIME). WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE LOCATION THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND OF COURSE NOTHING SHOWED UP BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE NOT ON. ON WEDNESDAY I TOOK MAY CAR TO LANDMARK IN TAYLORVILLE TO HAVE THE OIL CHANGED AND TO SEE IF THEY COULD CHECK ON THE PROBLEM. AND TRUE TO FORM THE COMPUTER SHOWED NOTHING BECAUSE THE LIGHTS WERE NO ON. BUT WAS TOLD IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN TO GO TO THE NEAREST SERVICE CENTER AND DON'T TURN THE CAR OFF. I'VE HAD THIS EXPERIENCE AND IT IS VERY DANGEROUS WHEN IN TRAFFIC. AND AM SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR OUT OF TOWN. I LIKE MY CAR AND WANT TO KEEP IT BUT IF THE PROBLEM IS NOT FIXED SOMEONE MAY GET HURT. BUT BEFORE THAT HAPPENS I WILL TRADE THE CAR AND I ASSURE YOU THAT I WILL NOT BY ANOTHER GM PRODUCT AND WILL TELL EVERYONE OF THE PROBLEMS I HAD. *TR

VEHICLE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WITHOUT APPLYING THE BRAKES. CRUISE CONTROL FAILS TO ACTIVATE OR DISENGAGES UNEXPECTEDLY. BRAKE LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES UNTIL APPROXIMATELY 2 SECONDS AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKES. *TR
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. ATTORNEY REPRESENTING CONSUMERS WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT MALFUNCTION. *SMD THE CONSUMER WAS REAR ENDED, WHICH IN TURN CAUSED HIM TO REAR END THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF HIM. AS A RESULT OF THE IMPACT, THE CONSUMERS WIFE SUSTAINED A VERY SERIOUS CLOSED HEAD INJURY WHEN HER HEAD STRUCK THE WINDSHIELD, DESPITE THE FACT SHE WAS A WEARING HER SEAT BELT AND THE VEHICLE WAS EQUIPPED WITH FRONTAL AIR BAGS THAT DID NOT DEPLOY. AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT, THE CONSUMER WAS STOPPED AND DESPITE THE FACT, HE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1/2 TO ONE CAR LENGTH BEHIND THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE FRONT OF THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE STRUCK THE REAR OF THE OTHER VEHICLE MOVING IT AFTER IMPACT. THE VEHICLE WAS DECLARED A TOTAL LOSS.
WE HAD TO CONTINUALLY ADD AIR TO ONE TIRE. THINKING WE A HAD A NAIL, WE TOOK IT TO A TIRE SHOP. THE RIM WAS DEFECTIVE. THAT WAS WHEN THE CAR HAD 41,564 MILES. WE REPLACED IT. ANOTHER RIM WENT BAD AFTER 50,688 MILES. RIMS SHOULD NOT GO BAD. THERE MUST BE A DEFECT IN THE FABRICATION OF THE RIMS AND MALIBU OWNERS ARE PAYING FOR IT. *TR
THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING PUSHED. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF THE CAR IS SITTING IN PARK OR BEING DRIVEN ON THE HIGHWAY, THE BRAKE LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN THE PEDAL IS NOT PUSHED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PUSHED, THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER A DIAGNOSTIC WAS PERFORMED, WHICH WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE A FAILURE CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED MULTIPLE TIMES INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO WAS UNABLE TO REPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO EXPERIENCE A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE BATTERY WAS RESET MULTIPLE TIMES TO NO AVAIL. THE CONTACTS VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE SEVERAL TIMES AND PROVIDED NO REMEDY. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,500.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT COME ON WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THEY STAY ON AS IF I AM ALWAYS APPLYING THE BRAKES. WHEN I PRESS THE PEDAL THEY GO OFF. I UNDERSTAND THERE MAY BE A RECALL BUT WHEN I CALLED LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIPS THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY VIN. BASICALLY THE BRAKE LIGHTS WORK IN REVERSE ORDER. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THESE VEHICLES, WHY IS THERE NO RECALL FROM THE GMC TO CORRECT THIS HAZARD WHICH COULD RESULT IS A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD 3 NEW BRAKE SENSORS INSTALLED AT THE GM DEALERSHIPS.. 2 OF THEM.. IT IS NOT THE BRAKE SENSOR AND THE COSTS CONTINUE TO RISE EACH TIME I TAKE IT IN FOR A NEW SENSOR. *JS

POWER STEERING WARNING PLUS THE CHECK ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CAME ON WHEN WE STARTED THE CAR, AND THE STEERING WOULD NOT WORK. WE WERE AT THE TIME IN THE NORTH CAROLINA MOUNTAINS. WE TURNED THE IGNITION OFF, TRIED AGAIN, AND THE POWER STEERING RETURNED. NONETHELESS THIS MADE FOR A SCARY TRIP DOWN MOUNTAIN ROADS. THIS FAILURE DID NOT OCCUR AGAIN FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THEN IN THE WINTER OF 2013-2014 IT BEGAN TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. IN APRIL 2014 WE TOLD THE CHEVROLET SERVICE ADVISOR WHO SAID TO BRING IN THE CAR WHILE THE STEERING WAS NOT ON POWER. SO WE DID WITH DIFFICULT STEERING IN CITY TRAFFIC. THE ADVISOR DIAGNOSED STEERING COLUMN FAILURE. GM HAS OFFERED TO PAY PART OF THE PRICE OF REPAIR. THIS OFFER CAME AFTER EXTENSIVE CONVERSATIONS WITH GM AND THE LOCAL DEALER WITH WHOM WE HAVE DONE A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF BUSINESS. *TR
ON MARCH 24,2014 AS I WAS TURNING THE CORNER MAKING A LEFT TURN AND MY POWER STEERING WENT OUT, LUCKILY THE CAR THAT WAS AHEAD OF ME WAS ABLE TO MOVE. I WENT UP ON A CURB BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AS I WAS TURNING. I TOOK THE CAR IN TO GORDEN CHEVROLET IN GARDEN CITY ON THE FOLLOWING DAY MARCH 25,2014 THEY VERIFIED MY CONCERN, THEY INSPECTED AND FOUND INTERNAL FAULT IN THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING MOTOR AND MODULE. NECESSARY TO REPLACE STEERING COLUMN AND CONTROL MODULE $1259.00...THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE A PART OF THE RECALL LIST ALSO, I AM SO UPSET THAT MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED BECAUSE NOW AFTER I PAID MY CAR NOTE LAST WEEK I HAVE TO FIGURE OUT A WAY TO GET MY CAR FIXED. TURNING LEFT INTO PARKING SPACE, STEERING LOCKED & WARNING LIGHT ON. TURN CAR OFF, RESTART, NO WARNING LIGHT & POWER STEERING WORKS. DOESN'T HAPPEN AGAIN FOR 2 DAYS. THEN FLAT TIRE WARNING LIGHT, ABS WARNING LIGHT & AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHTS ON. TURN CAR OFF. ON RESTART OK. 4/20/13 POWER STEERING LOCKS. CALL DEALER FOR SERVICE APPOINTMENT. 4/24/13 TURNING LEFT TO DEALER, POWER STEERING LOCKS. NO WARNING LIGHT. DON'T TURN CAR OFF "POWER THROUGH"& STEERING UNLOCKS & WORKS. SERVICE TECH ADVISES THERE WERE 15 CODES, SOME REPORTING "COMMUNICATION ERRORS". CLEARED ALL CODES. TEST DROVE CAR, FOUND NO PROBLEMS. DROVE HOME - APPROX 50 MI - NO PROBLEMS. 4/25/13, APPROX 5 MPH TURNING RIGHT TO DRIVEWAY, ALMOST SHUTS ITSELF OFF. DOOR LOCKS ON/OFF, ON/OFF. 4/27/13, IN PARKING LOT. START CAR, PUT IN REVERSE. CAR TURNS ITSELF OFF. RESTART -- RUNS ROUGH ABOUT 10 SECONDS. BACK UP, POWER STEERING LOCKS. DON'T TURN CAR OFF, AGAIN "POWER THROUGH" & STEERING WORKS. *TR
I DRIVE IN THE CITY, AN HOUR TO WORK, SINGLE FEMALE ON A BUDGET AND MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP 3X FOR THE SAME PROBLEM WITH NO FIX TO IT. I AM FURIOUS, SICK TO MY STOMACH AND SAD ALL AT THE SAME TIME. THERE ARE THREE ISSUES THAT APPEAR TO BE RELATED: 1) BRAKE LIGHTS COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL IS NOT BEING DEPRESSED, AND STAYS ON, AND/OR DOES NOT COME ON WHEN BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED. 2)"SERVICE TRACTION" AND "SERVICE ESC" WARNINGS COME ON AND REMAIN ON. 3) CRUISE CONTROL STOPS WORKING. YOU CAN HAVE ONE, TWO OR ALL THREE OF THESE EVENTS HAPPENING AT THE SAME TIME. ANY OF THE THREE CAN OCCUR FIRST. THEY CAN OCCUR EACH TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN FOR SOME WEEKS, THEN NOT OCCUR AT ALL FOR A FEW DAYS OR OCCASIONALLY EVEN WEEKS. CAN OCCUR AFTER DRIVING FOR A FEW MINUTES, SOMETIMES AFTER AN HOUR OR MORE OF DRIVING. SEEMS TO HAPPEN IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER CONDITIONS, HOT, COLD, WET OR DRY. HAS BEEN HAPPENING INTERMITTENTLY FOR OVER A YEAR NOW, AND NOW SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN AND FOR LONGER PERIODS OF TIME THAN WHEN FIRST BEGAN. *TR
I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO THE GM DEALER THREE TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR. EACH TIME THEY STATED THAT THEY HAD REPAIRED THE "BRAKE SIGNAL" AND THAT WAS THE PROBLEM. HOWEVER, EVEN WITH THE CURRENT RECALLS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM, WHEN I CALLED GM DEALER LAST WEEK, THEY STATED THAT THE "CHARGES WOULD BE AT LEAST $150 TO CONNECT TO THE COMPUTER AND RUN DIAGNOSTICS". WELL, SINCE I HAVE ALREADY SPENT $500 FOR THE LAST 3 VISITS, WHERE THEY DID NOT LISTEN TO ME AND FIXED SOMETHING WAS NOT TORN UP, WHY WOULD I WASTE MONEY ON THE SAME ISSUE. THERE IS A RECALL.. GM STATES THAT THE RECALL IS NOT FOR MY SPECIFIC VEHICLE, ALTHOUGH THE PROBLEMS I HAVE HAD FOR ONE YEAR ARE THE SAME PROBLEMS THEY ARE RECALLING THE 2010 CHEV MALIBU FOR AT THIS TIME. SUPPOSEDLY, THEY WILL RECALL MINE LATER.. I GUESS I JUST WAIT AND HOPE I DO NOT HAVE A WRECK UNTIL THEN. DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY AT ANY SPEED, THE CAR WILL SUDDENLY FEEL AS IF I HAVE PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND PUMPED IT. THE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION LIGHTS THEN COME ON. THE BRAKE LIGHTS THEN COME ON WHEN I DO NOT HAVE THE BRAKE PEDAL PUSHED. WHEN I DO PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL THE BRAKE LIGHT GOES OFF. I HAVE HAD TO HAVE MY BRAKES CHANGED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THIS BEGAN. IT ALSO USES MORE GAS SINCE MY CAR THINKS I AM RIDING MY BRAKES AND PRESSING THE GAS ALSO. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR BAG HARNESS AND THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. BACK IN APRIL OF 2013, THE WIPER STOPPED WORKING DURING HEAVY RAIN AND HEAVY WINDS. TOOK CAR TO LOU FUSZ CHEVROLET OF ST. PETERS, MO (WHICH IS WHERE THE CAR WAS FIRST BOUGHT IN JUNE 2010). MY WIFE AND I WERE ADVISED THAT WIPER TRANSMISSION/MODULE LOOSE AT MOTOR. THE WIPER MODULE ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED. ON 6/30/14, DUE TO RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY, THE WIPER STOPPED WORKING AGAIN, BUT DUE TO THIS OCCURRED OVER A YEAR AGO AND 12,000 WARRANTY EXPIRED, MY WIFE AND WERE TOLD IT HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND WE HAD TO PAY FOR IT (MILEAGE 92284). ON 6/19/15, WIPER AGAIN GOES OUT DUE TO HEAVY RAIN ON THE INTERSTATE HIGHWAY (MILEAGE 113245). HOWEVER, PHONE SERVICE REP SAID TO HAVE THE FUSE BOX REPLACED BECAUSE OF INTERNAL SHORT ON POWER SIDE OF WIPER MOTOR ON SIGNAL CIRCUIT. AFTER THE FUSE BOX WAS REPLACED, THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTED. YET, WE STILL HAD TO PAY FOR THE FUSE BOX REPLACEMENT! IT WAS THEN DETERMINED THAT THE TECH FOUND THE WIPER TRANSMISSION LINK BAR WAS BROKEN. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AND LET ME KNOW WHAT THE OUTCOME IS!! I FIND IT VERY UNUSUAL TO HAVE SOMETHING LIKE A WIPER MOTOR BREAK THREE TIMES IN THREE YEARS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN UNFAIRLY CHARGED ON THE LAST ATTEMPT WHERE WE HAD TO PAY FOR A FUSE BOX, YET THAT DIDN'T SOLVE THE PROBLEM AT FIRST. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS IN THE RAIN, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED UNTIL THE RAIN STOPPED TO RESUME DRIVING. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER (LOU FUSZ CHEVROLET LOCATED ON 5120 N SERVICE RD, ST PETERS, MO, 63376) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WIPER MOTOR WAS WORKING, BUT THE WIPER TRANSMISSION MODULE DETACHED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT I HAVE 3 AREAS IN MY RIM TO BE CRACK ALONG THE CREASE OF A 5 STAR RIM. I WAS INFORMED BY A COUPLE OF EXPERTS THAT THESE TYPE OF RIMS HAS BEEN CAUSING ALOT OF OWNER DIFFICULTIES. I DO NOT BELIEVE WE SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT IS CLEAR THAT THERE WAS NOT ANY NEGLIGENCE ON THE PART OF THE OWNER. I HAVE BEEN GOING THROUGH THE SAME ISSUE WITH MY CAR FOR ABOUT 3 MONTHS NOW. I HAVE HAD A ISSUE WITH THE ESC & SERVICE TRACTION LIGHT. I TOOK IT TO THE JIM ELLIS CHEVY DEALERSHIP ( PAID $105 FOR DIAGNOSTIC) AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE FUEL INJECTOR, I TOLD THEM THAT I HAD THEIR FUEL INJECTOR ( CYLINDER 1) REPLACED. THEY TOLD ME BECAUSE IT WAS AFTERMARKET THAT I HAD TO PAY $267 TO REPLACE IT. I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC HAD HIM PUT IN A GM INJECTOR AND STILL WAS HAVING THE SAME ISSUE, THE MECHANIC REPLACED THE ENGINE WIRE HARNESS, COILS, SHIFT SOLENOID, AND NONE OF THIS FIXED THE PROBLEM. HE THEN STATED THAT THE BASE OF THE ISSUE WAS THE COMPUTER, I TOOK IT TO GET A SECOND OPINION AND THE NEXT MECHANIC STATED THE SAME THING,AFTER TALKING TO ANOTHER MECHANIC FROM SUPERIOR CHEVROLET, ITS THE COMPUTER. I TOOK IT TO SUPERIOR CHEVROLET AND HAD ANOTHER DIAGNOSTIC DONE ( WHICH WAS ANOTHER $100) AND ASKED THEM TO PLEASE LOOK AT THE COMPUTER SINCE I WAS TOLD TWICE IT WAS THE ISSUE. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE INJECTOR HARNESS AND IT WOULD COST $320. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN ONGOING FOR TOO LONG AND LOOKING ONLINE MANY OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS, CUSTOMER ARE SPENDING LOTS OF MONEY ON AN ISSUE THAT SEEMS TO BE ONGOING. *TR

SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON . TOOK CAR TO DEALER FROM WHICH THE CAR WAS PURCHASED. DEALER SAID THAT THE PASSENGER AIR BAG CONNECTOR ON THE WIRE HARNESS HAD BACKED OUT. THEY RECONNECTED THE TERMINAL AND IT REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. NOW 08/10/2013 SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT IS BACK ON. NOW THAT THE CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER THERE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY CHANCES ARE THAT THEY WILL CHARGE ME TO REPAIR THE SAME PROBLEM. SO I RESEARCHED THE PROBLEM ONLINE AND IT SEEMS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH A 2010 MALIBU THAT HAS THIS PROBLEM. TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT CHEVY SHOULD RECALL BUT WONT. ITS SAD THAT THE CAR ONLY HAS 18,000 MILES AT THIS TIME AND I HAVE TO TAKE THE CAR BACK FOR THE SAME SAFETY ISSUE AND PAY TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. I HAVE A 2010 MALIBU AND RECENTLY TOOK IT TOO THE DEALER FOR A SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT AND THEY INFORMED ME OF A ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE CORRECTED UNDER A RECALL, HOWEVER NOW THERE SAYING I NEED TO REPLACE THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT AIR BAG AND THE PASSENGER SEAT MODULE. THESE AIR BAGS ARE A SAFETY ISSUE AND THERE ARE MANY 2010 MALIBU OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND THE DEALER WANTS TO CHARGE 1245.87 FOR REPAIRS AND CANNOT SAY WHY THE FAILURE HAPPENED. A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE SHOULD NOT HAVE AIR BAG FAILURE. AFTER PARKING MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU, I CAN SMELL GASOLINE AT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE EXTERIOR (GAS TANK IS ON OPPOSITE SIDE). THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR SOME TIME SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH 2013. I DON'T KNOW WHEN I FIRST SMELLED IT. I ALSO HAVE HAD POOR GAS MILEAGE SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN JULY OF 2011 AND HAD NOTICED A FEW TIMES DURING WINTER THAT WHEN I TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL, SOMETIMES THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD DIM AND THE HEATER FAN WOULD SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN. NOTHING REALLY EVER HAPPENED TO MAKE ME THINK THERE WAS A SERIOUS ISSUE. I WOULD NOTICE IT WOULD HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY THROUGH OUT THE NEXT SEVERAL MONTHS. EARLY IN MARCH, 2013, I HAD NOTICED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY TO GO TO WORK, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD BECOME MUCH MORE DIFFICULT TO TURN AND THERE WOULD BE A MESSAGE ON THE DASH THAT JUST READ POWER STEERING. THIS WOULD ONLY LAST FOR A BRIEF MOMENT, AND THEN IT WOULD GO AWAY AND THE STEERING WOULD BE FINE. I THOUGHT IT WAS FROM THE COLD WEATHER. ON FRIDAY, MARCH 15, I HAD STOPPED AT A FEW DIFFERENT PLACES, WAS HAVING NO ISSUES THAT I COULD TELL. I GOT INTO MY CAR TO LEAVE THE LAST STOP, STARTED THE CAR AND BEGAN TO BACK OUT OF THE PARKING LOT. I DIDN'T SEE A MESSAGE AT FIRST AND IT FELT LIKE I HAD A FLAT TIRE. ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER THERE WERE 4 DINGS AND THE DASH SAID POWER STEERING AGAIN AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS VERY SLUGGISH. I'D BEEN HALF EXPECTING IT TO START WORKING AGAIN, BUT AFTER SPEAKING WITH A REP AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE, THEY TOLD ME IT SOUNDED LIKE THE ELECTRONIC ASSIST MOTOR ON THE RACK-AND-PINION HAD SHORTED, CAUSING A FUSE TO BLOW WHICH WAS SOMETHING GM HAD ALREADY PUT A RECALL OUT FOR OTHER VEHICLES, EXCEPT MY MODEL YEAR. I SPOKE WITH THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ONLY RECALL THAT WAS OUT ON THE CAR AT THE MOMENT WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE GEAR SHIFT INDICATOR AND I WILL BE TAKING CARE OF THAT SOON. THEY WANT ME TO TAKE IT IN FOR DIAGNOSTICS TO SEE WHAT GM WILL COVER FOR REPAIRS, BUT HONESTLY I DON'T THINK I SHOULD BE LIABLE FOR A PROBLEM THAT GM DIDN'T FIX RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. *TR

WATER LEAKS INSIDE THE CAR WHEN IT RAINS OUTSIDE OR WHEN I GO THROUGH A CAR WASH. THE ISSUE WASN'T DETECTED AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE HOWEVER IT WAS NOTICED SEVERAL MONTHS LATER DURING A PERIOD OF FREQUENT AND HEAVY RAIN. THE ISSUE BEGAN WITH WATER DRIPPING ONLY NEAR THE BRAKE PEDAL, HOWEVER OVER TIME THE ISSUE HAS SPREAD TO AN AREA BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR AND FRONT WINDSHIELD. WATER NOW LEAKS FROM BOTH AREAS WHEN IT RAINS AND/OR WHEN I DRIVE THROUGH A CAR WASH. IF I PARK ON AN INCLINE, SOMETIMES THE WATER WILL DRAIN FROM THE CAR. ALSO, THE WATER HAS STAINED MY INTERIOR, LEAVES A MOLDY SMELL AND OVER TIME I WILL ASSUME THAT THE ISSUE WILL SPREAD EVEN FURTHER OR MAY DAMAGE THE INTERIOR ROOF. BECAUSE WATER LEAKS FROM ABOVE, IT SOAKS ALL OF THE BUTTONS ON THE DOOR (WINDOWS, LOCKS, ETC) AS WELL AS THE BUTTON TO HEAT THE SEAT - HOPEFULLY THAT DOES NOT CREATE AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE. *TR

THE BULB WAS PREVIOUSLY REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
MY REAR BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON FOR NO REASON WHEN I AM DRIVING. *TR
I WAS TRAVELING ON A SIDE ROAD AND THE VEHICLE SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS DUE TO A FAULTY THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR. HAD I BEEN TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED ON A BUSY HIGHWAY, IT IS LIKELY THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUS INJURY. CHEVROLET DID NOT RESPOND TO MY CONCERN AND I ENDED UP TRADING IN THE VEHICLE FOR A NON-GM PRODUCT. VIEWING THE RECENT RECALLS FOR FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH (THAT I REALIZE WAS NOT THE ISSUE WITH MY CAR) CAUSED ME TO REPORT THIS IN THE EVENT OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE AND HOPEFULLY PREVENT SERIOUS INJURY OR LOSS OF LIFE. *TR

IN ADDITION, SHE WAS KNOCKED UNCONSCIOUS. THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE PASSENGER SUSTAINED LACERATIONS TO THE FACE FROM THE WINDOW EXPLODING ON IMPACT AND FROM THE CURTAIN AIR BAG NOT DEPLOYING. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 61,000.
WIPER MOTOR TRANSMISSION JUST WENT OUT FOR THE 3RD TIME YESTERDAY, 1ST OCCURANC WAS JAN 2013 AN DSTOPPED UNEXPECTEDLY GOING DOWN HIGHWAY. REPLACED AT A COST TO ME OF $325. SECOND OCCURANCE WAS SEPT 2014 AND OCCURED ON EXPRESSWAY GOING 70MPH. GM WOULD NOT COVER AS I WAS OVER MILES AND DEALERSHIP WOUDL ONLY GUARANTEE PART FOR 1 YEAR. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,000.
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WOULD SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL WHILE AT RED LIGHTS AND/OR DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. I REPORTED IT TO MY DEALER AND BECAUSE THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT REPLICATE OR GET AN ERROR MESSAGE I WAS DISMISSED. UPON DISMISSAL AT THE DEALERSHIP THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGED AGAIN. I NOTIFIED ONSTAR AND REFUSED TO MOVE THE CAR WITHOUT A TOW. ONLY THEN DID MY DEALER BEGRUDGINGLY REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION, HOWEVER, THEY DID NOT BOLT IT DOWN. ANOTHER DEALER FINISHED THE REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE TRADED THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER, CONSIDERING WHAT IS GOING ON WITH GENERAL MOTORS, THIS IS ANOTHER MODEL THAT SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED. *TR
