ON 12. 06. 2018 THE POWER STEERING CODE C0454. LAST YEAR NOV. 2018, IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN, THEN THE ESC, WHICH IS STILL UNRESOLVED , THEN I HAD TO PUT IN A NEW TRANSMISSION.
ENGINE REDUCED POWER. VEHICLE "ENGINE REDUCED POWER LIGHT" ACTIVATES AND VEHICLE IS UNRESPONSIVE AND STALLS, SHAKES VIOLENTLY. NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE INVOLVING GM MODELS. ISSUED SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT, BUT WILL NOT COVER ALL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE STEERING LOST POWER AND THE "POWER STEERING OFF" INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DUBLIN CHEVROLET GMC BUICK (478-246-4916, LOCATED AT 2042 VETERANS BLVD, DUBLIN, GA 31021) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS RECOMMENDED. THE TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
HEAD LIGHT CONTINUES TO BURN OUT EVERY TWO YEARS
MY RIGHT FRONT HEADLIGHT (REGULAR LOW BEAM) KEEPS GOING OUT AND HAVING TO BE REPLACED. MY MECHANIC REPLACED IT IN JULY OF THIS YEAR, AND AGAIN IN OCTOBER, AND IT IS OUT YET AGAIN, NOT EVEN TWO MONTHS LATER. MY MECHANIC CAN'T FIND ANY REASON FOR IT. IN ADDITION, MY SERVICE AIR-BAG LIGHT IS ON, ALTHOUGH IT'S NEVER GONE OFF, AND THE ENTIRE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT ABOUT 63,000 MILES. REGARDING THE LIGHT - SO FAR, I'VE BEEN LUCKY THAT IT HASN'T CONTRIBUTED TO ANY KIND OF ACCIDENT, ESPECIALLY SINCE DEER ARE VERY ACTIVE AT THIS TIME OF YEAR AND ARE VERY COMMON IN OUR AREA.
POWER STEERING LIGHTS SHOWER. THE WHEEL STARED TO SHAKES AND THE WHEEL LOSE CONTROL
CAR HAS BEEN HAVING ALL THE PROBLEMS SINCE I GOT IT , AND NOW JUST BY DOING RESEARCH I SEEN THAT THEY HAD A LOT OF THESE CARS RECALLED
WHEN I FIRST TURN THE CAR ON IT WILL FLASH SERVICE ESC AND POWER STEERING WHEEL ALSO FLASH AT THAT POINT I HAVE NO POWER STEERING, AND THEN I WILL TURN THE CAR OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND I HAVE POWER STEERING THERE IS NO FLASHING OF ESC OR POWER STEERING. THE STEERING WHEEL WILL SHAKE WHILE STATIONARY. IN THE LAST YEAR I HAVE REPLACED ALL FOUR TURN SIGNALS AT LEAST TWICE AND BOTH HEADLIGHTS AT LEAST TWICE. WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR THE HEADLIGHTS WILL FLASH AND THEN ONE WILL GO OUT WHILE THE OTHER ONE STAYS ON DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD I DON'T HIT ANY BUMPS OR POTHOLES OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT AND THE HEAD LIGHT WILL COME ON, AT THAT POINT IT STAYED ON FOR ONE DAY AND THEN IT WENT BACK OUT AGAIN. MY THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WILL WORK OFF AND ON, MORE OFF THEN ON. MY REAR DEFROSTERS DO NOT WORK AT ALL AND THE CONTROL ON THE DRIVER SEAT DOES NOT WORK EITHER. WITHIN THE LAST MONTH WE HAVE REPLACED THE BATTERY AND CABLES FOR THE CAR AND WAS TOLD THAT THAT SHOULD FIX ALL THE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND IT DID NOT. I HAVE 2 VIDEOS OF WHAT THE CAR DOES BUT CANNOT UPLOAD ON HERE.

JUST BOUGHT A USED 2010 MALIBU WITH 2.4L ENGINE FOR MY TEENAGE DAUGHTER. AFTER SEVERAL DAYS, WHEN TRYING TO TEACH HER PARALLEL PARKING, THE STEERING BEGAN LOCKING UP AND STEERING SYSTEM WARNING IS DISPLAYED. WHEN IT LOCKS UP, THE WHEEL CANNOT BE MOVED AT ALL, REGARDLESS OF VEHICLE SPEED. STEERING CONTROL ONLY RETURNS AFTER SHUTTING THE ENGINE DOWN, WAITING A FEW SECONDS, THEN STARTING IT BACK UP. THE CAR HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES OVER THE LAST WEEK. IT HASN'T HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY YET, BUT AFTER CHECKING INTO THIS ONLINE, I FIND THAT IT IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING SYSTEM INSTALLED ON THIS AND OTHER GM VEHICLES. I ALSO FOUND THAT IT REPORTEDLY HAPPENS ON HIGHWAY, AND WHEN IT DOES, THE STEERING WHEEL IS LOCKED IN WHATEVER POSITION IT WAS IN WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, LEAVING THE DRIVER ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. NEEDLESS TO SAY, THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND I FIND IT VERY HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ISSUED IN REGARDS TO THIS. IT HAS REPORTEDLY BEEN A COMMON COMPLAINT WITH THE MALIBU WITH 2.4L ENGINE FOR SEVERAL YEARS. IF THERE IS NOT CURRENTLY A FEDERAL INVESTIGATION IN PROGRESS REGARDING THIS COMPLAINT, THERE NEEDS TO BE ASAP. I'M THINKING RIGHT NOW THAT I SHOULDN'T LET MY DAUGHTER DRIVE THE CAR. IT'S SCARY.
MY POWER STEERING STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING. THE STEERING GOT REALLY HEAVY, AND TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL FELT NOTCHY, LIKE THE POWER STEERING MOTOR WAS FIGHTING ME. I WAS PULLING INTO A PARKING LOT WHEN THIS HAPPENED. A TRIANGLE SHAPED YELLOW WARNING LIGHT CAME UP. I THINK THE WARNING MESSAGE BELOW IT WAS ESC TRACTION OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. AFTER TURNING OFF THE CAR AND LETTING IT REST FOR 1.5 HOURS, THE CAR STARTED AND THE STEERING WORKED LIKE NORMAL. NO WARNING LIGHT, MESSAGE, OR ISSUES. I DON'T KNOW WHEN THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. I SEE LOTS OF PEOPLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITH THE SAME MODEL YEAR MALIBU. THIS CAR HAS 85K MILES ON IT.
POWER STEERING LOCKS WHEN DRIVING AND I HAVE NO CONTROL OF THE STEERING WHEEL
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THEN ON THE DASH IT SAID "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" ALONG WITH "SERVICE ESC". ENGINE WOULD RUMBLE SO I HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE HIGHWAY. HAD TO CUT ENGINE OFF A FEW TIME UNTIL THE DASH CLEARED BUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED.
MY CAR KEEPS POPPING UP SERVICE ESC, ENGINE POWER REDUCED AND SERVICE TRACTION LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON. HAVE HAD FIXED 3 TIMES AND SILL KEEPS HAPPENING. WHILE VEHICLE IS DRIVING IT WILL DIE FOR NO REASON, ONCE STARTED BACK UP SOMETIMES IT STOPS OTHER TIMES STARTS SHAKING AND AS NO POWER.
WHILE DRIVING ESC LIGHT CAME ON POWER STEERING ISSUE DISPLAYED AND POWER STEERING FAILED. STOPPED AND TURNED CAR OFF; UPON RESTART NO ISSUE.
POWER STEERING GOES IN AND OUT. ETC LIGHT COMES ON AND FLASHES POWER STEERING FAILURE. UPON READING, GM ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS BUT OUR DEALER HAS NO RECALL INFORMATION ON THIS. SAFETY ISSUE, COULD LEAD TO A CRASH

POWER STEERING SUDDENLY WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING, I MADE IT HOME SAFELY THEN THE NEXT DAY CAR DROVE AS IF NOTHING WAS WRONG, POWER STEERING FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE FOLLOWING DAY POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN AS I WAS TURNING THE CORNER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED, THEN IT DROVE FINE UNTIL I PULLED IN MY DRIVEWAY THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. FOR THE LAST 4 DAYS IT HAS BEEN GOING IN AND OUT AT WILL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
WE ONLY HAVE CHEVY'S HOWEVER OUR MALIBU 2010 WITH ONLY 73,000 MILES WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 65MPH IT SUDDENLY STOPPED GOING. YOU CAN ACCELERATE BUT IT DOESN'T NOT GO FORWARD OR BACK. IT WAS LATE WHEN IT WENT OUT AND A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. OUR CAR WAS PURCHASED AND MAINTAINED FROM DEALER AND AT THIS MILEAGE WITH NO WARNING, NO NOISE, NO FLUID LEAK, NOTHING. SITUATION IS VERY FRUSTRATING. I'M NOT SURE I'M A GM FAN ANYMORE WE WILL SEE HOW THE RESPOND TO THIS SITUATION.
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU TRANSMISSION STOPPED WORKING WHILE DRIVING ON A MAIN ROAD. 93,000-95,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. DRIVING AND THE CAR STOPPED SHIFTING INTO GEAR, AND WILL NOT REVERSE. CAR IS UNSAFE AND UNABLE TO DRIVE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (EXTERIOR LIGHTING:BRAKE LIGHTS) IN 2014 FOR THE SAME FAILURE, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
SERVICE ESC ERROR MESSAGE AND THEN POWER STEERING MESSAGE BEGAN FLASHING AND I COULDN'T TURN THE WHEEL. STEERING GOES INTO MANUAL MODE AND I AM UNABLE TO MOVE MY STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENS MANY TIMES WHILE I WAS DRIVING, I HAD TO PULL OVER, PLACE IT IN PARK, TURN IT OFF, THEN RESTART THE CAR. I HAVE TO DO THIS ABOUT EVERY 5 TO 15 MINUTES. THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION
DOOR LOCKS DON'T UNLOCK THE DOORS TRAPPING OCCUPANTS INSIDE THE CAR. MANUAL OR ELECTRICAL DON'T WORK. MODULES ARE DEFECTIVE, AND MANUAL LOCK PULL DOES NOT WORK EITHER. VEHICLE COULD BE RUNNING OR NOT RUNNING-STILL DOES NOT WORK. IF YOU ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND TRY THE OUTSIDE HANDLE, STILL DOES NOT WORK. SOLENOID, IN THE DOORS MAKE A SOUND LIKE THE DOORS UNLOCK, BUT THEY DON'T. MAYBE ONE IN THE BACK WILL WORK, BUT VERY DIFFICULT TO GET OUT OF THE CAR. YOUR STUCK WITH NO OPTIONS TO GET OUT. THIS IS A VERY SEVER SAFTY ISSUE AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESS. TRIED TO BUT THE CAR IN DRIVE, AND BACK INTO PARK AND TURN OFF THE CAR MULTIPLE TIMES WITH NO LUCK. TRIED TO ROCK THE DOOR LOCK SWITCH DOES NOT HELP. BELIEVE THE MODULES ARE DEFECTIVE. DOOR PULLS FOR UNLOCKING THE DOORS SHOULD STILL WORK, EVEN IF THE POWER WAS LOST. THEY DO NOT. TRIED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING AND STATIONARY. BECAUSE I WAS STUCK IN THE CAR, I WENT AROUND THE BLOCK WONDERING IF IT WAS A CHARGING PROBLEM. IT'S NOT, AFTER GOING AROUND THE BLOCK AND PULLING BACK INTO THE DRIVE WAY, THEY STILL DID NOT WORK. WHEN CAR WAS TURNED OFF AND TRIED TO UNLOCK THE DOORS STILL DID NOT WORK. HAD TO CHECK THE BACK DOOR AND FOUND IT FINALLY WORKED. HAD TO CRAWL OVER THE FRONT SEAT AND CRAWLED OUT THAT WAY. WAS STUCK IN THE CAR FOR 25 MIN. COULD NOT DO ANYTHING.
WHILE DRIVING THE ESC, TRACTION AND POWER STEERING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. FOR A SHORT TIME I COULD STOP, TURN THE CAR OFF AND IT WOULD WORK AGAIN . NOW THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AND OF COURSE ALL THE LIGHTS ARE STILL ON. THIS YEAR MODEL WAS LISTED AS ONE OF THE RECALLS FOR THE POWER STEERING BUT NOT MY VIN NUMBER. I HAVE HAD THIS CAR IN THE SHOP FOR A RECALL ON THE LIGHTING SYSTEM THAT WAS FAULTY WHICH IN THE RECALL IT DID SAY THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE POWER STEERING TO GO OUT AS WELL AS THE ESC AND TRACTION. THE CHEV DEALERSHIP SAID THAT THIS WAS NOT CORRECT. THE ESTIMATE I WAS GIVEN WAS ABOUT $1500.00 TO FIX THE PROBLEM.
MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU IS LOSING POWER STEERING DURING NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, THE SERVICE ECM IS DISPLAYING AND THEN THE POWER STEERING FAILURE IS ON THE DASH. I CAN GET THE POWER STEERING TO TURN BACK ON ONCE I TURN THE ENGINE OFF AND BACK ON AGAIN BUT IT CONTINUES TO SHUT OFF.

I FOUND A COMPLAINT BEFORE ABOUT THE POWER STEERING GOING OUT ON MY CAR. TODAY IS OCTOBER 17TH 2018 THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AT ABOUT 5:50 IN THE MORNING MY WIFE WAS DRIVING TO WORK IN THE VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN AND THE WHEEL LOCKED UP AND TURNT THE CAR ONTO A CONSTRUCTION SHE WAS ABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE TELLS ME THAT EVERY LIGHT CAME ON AND STARTED FLASHING THEN IT WENT AWAY AND SAID ESE, NO POWER STEERING, SERVICE, NO TRACTION. SHE TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE AND STARTED IT BACK UP AND EVERYTHING WORKED AGAIN, THIS HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN ONE TIME AND EACH YEAR IS HAPPENING MORE AND MORE.
2010 CHEVY MALIBU BRAKE LIGHT ON WITHOUT BRAKE BEING APPLIED CAR SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT ON AND SERVICE ESC I BELIEVE IT'S DUE TO A BAD BODY CONTROL MODULE
THE BULB ON THE DRIVERS SIDE HAS GONE OUT MULTIPLE TIMES. HAVE HAD TO PAY $150 PLUS BULBS EACH TIME AS YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE BUMPER OFF. EVEN AFTER REPLACING THE BULB THIS TIME IT DIDN'T WORK. MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THIS.
VEHICLE CAN SHIFT FROM PARK TO DRIVE WITHOUT BRAKE BEING APPLIED
THE BRAKES LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THE TRACTION CONTROL SERVICE ALERT COMES ON THE DASH ALSO. CONCERNED THAT NUMEROUS IDENTICAL COMPLAINTS FOUND ON THE CAR COMPLAINTS WEB SITE NOTING THE DEALERS HAVE NO CLUE HOW TO FIX THE ISSUE. MEANWHILE, OCCUPANTS ARE AT RISK OF REAR COLLISION DUE TO BRAKE LIGHTS NOT COMING ON DURING BRAKING.
CAR JUST STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING! VERY SCARY SITUATION! FORTUNATELY NO OTHER CAR CRASHED INTO ME BUT THAT WOULD'VE BEEN A LIKELY SCENARIO. TAKATA RECALL. MY PASSENGER HEADLIGHTS ON THE LOW BEAM SETTING KEEP GOING OUT. I CHANGED MY LIGHTBULB TWO MONTHS AGO AND IT HAS ALREADY GONE OUT. I SAW THAT IT WENT OUT A FEW WEEKS AGO BUT WHEN I WAS GOING TO GET SOMEONE TO CHANGE IT, THINKING THE THE SHOP GAVE ME A BAD BULB, THE HEADLIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE SAME THING HAPPENED LAST WEEK ALSO THE LIGHT WAS OUT AND I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD AND I HEARD MY CAR CLICK LIKE THE LIGHTS WERE COMING ON WHEN I STOPPED I NOTICED BOTH LOW BEAM LIGHTS WERE ON AGAIN. CURRENTLY MY PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT IS NOT WORKING, ALL OTHER LIGHTS ARE WORKING FINE
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE BRAKE LIGHTS WOULD NOT ILLUMINATE. IN ADDITION, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND TRACTION WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 129,642.
EVER SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THE HEADLIGHTS. THE PASSENGER SIDE WOULD CONSTANTLY GO OUT. EVERYTIME I HIT A BUMP OR WOULD HIT IT. IT WOULD COME BACK ON. RECENTLY I REPLACED BOTH BULBS. THE PASSENGER SIDE HAS OFFICIALLY DIED. NOW THE DRIVER SIDE IS ACTING UP. I HAVE TO HIT BASICALLY EVERY MORNING TO TURN IT ON BEFORE I GO TO WORK. WHILE I AM DRIVING IT WILL GO OUT SPORADICALLY AND COME BACK ON.
THE BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE BRAKES ARE NOT BEING DEPRESSED AND GOES OFF WHEN IT IS BEING DEPRESSED. THIS DISENGAGES THE CRUISE CONTROL AND ALSO THE SERVICE ESC LIGHT COMES ON WHEN IT HAPPENS. THE 2014 RECALL WAS DONE BY THE DEALER AND YET THE PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURRING. THERE WAS AN UPDATE TO THE RECALL AND THIS WAS ALSO DONE BUT HAS NOT FIXED THE PROBLEM. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO HAPPEN INTERMITTENTLY AND RANDOMLY.
SERVICE ESC, SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE AIR BAGS, BRAKE LIGHTS ON WHEN PEDAL NOT PRESSED AND NOT ON WHEN PEDAL IS PRESSED AND CRUISE CONTROL DOESN'T WORK PERIODICALLY. THESE MESSAGE APPEAR OFF AND ON WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE HAD THE SENSOR UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL REPLACED TWICE NOW. LAST TIME 14 MONTHS AGO SO NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND NEEDS REPLACED AGAIN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ELECTRIC POWER STEERING FAILED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE CONTACT ALSO HEARD A CLICKING NOISE WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CONTACT HAD TO CONSTANTLY MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL, WHICH WAS EXTREMELY TIGHT WHEN TURNING IT IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE DEALER (ROSS DOWNING CHEVROLET, 600 S MORRISON BLVD, HAMMOND, LA 70403, 866-206-4720) INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED IN 2014 PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14E044000 (STEERING). SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY CURRENT RECALLS, THE DEALER DID NOT OFFER TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR FACILITY REPLACED THE POWER STEERING PUMP, BUT THE CLICKING NOISE AND STEERING WHEEL FAILURES CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER ISSUED ONE RECALL FOR THIS YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL VEHICLE WITH 11 TSBS FOR THE STEERING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 143,497.
POWER REDUCED ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL,
THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. I HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT 3 TIMES AND IT IS OUT AGAIN. WITH THE WAY THE CAR IS MADE AND HAVING TO REMOVE THE FRONT OF THE CAR TO CHANGE THE LIGHT IS GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE AND INCONVENIENCING.
HEADLIGHT LOW BEAMS CONTINUE TO GO OUT. NOT BURNING OUT BUT GOING OUT PREMATURELY. HAVE TO BE CHANGED AT LEAST ONCE A MONTH.
THE STOP LAMPS COME ON ALL BY THEMSELF, IF THE LAMPS ARE ILLUMINATED THEY WILL TURN OFF WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL IS PRESSED. THIS ALSO AFFECTS THE TRACTION CONTROLS AND STABILITY CONTROL, THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. ALSO CRUISE CONTROL BECOMES INOPERATIVE. GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AND HAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM. HOWEVER THEY'VE CAPPED IT AT 150,000 MILES WHICH PUTS ME OUT OF WARRANTY. WHEN I SPOKE TO GM THEY ADMITTED THIS AND SAID BECAUSE I WASN'T THE ORIGINAL OWNER I WOULDN'T BE NOTIFIED. THEY DON'T WANT TO HELP!
HAVE A 2010 MALIBU WITH APPROXIMATELY 112,000 MILES ON IT. CAR IS WELL MAINTAINED AND HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE / VEHICLE INSPECTIONS (INCLUDING A WEEK PRIOR TO INCIDENT). I WAS OUT RUNNING ERRANDS AND HAD STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT. A FEW MINUTES LATER AS I WAS TURNING ON TO THE HIGHWAY, THE CAR JOLTED FORWARD AND THEN REFUSED TO ACCELERATE. FORTUNATELY, I WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER IT OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS. CAR COULD NOT BE DRIVEN AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO MY MECHANIC AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT MY TRANSMISSION WAS SHOT AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. VERY COSTLY REPAIR THAT NEEDED TO BE DONE AS IT IS MY ONLY VEHICLE. SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH 2010 MALIBUS THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED!!!
WHILE DRIVING MY CAR ON THE HIGHWAY OUT OF NOWHERE POWER ENGINE REDUCED WOULD COME UP ON THE DASH AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND TRANSMISSION AND TRACTION WARNING LIGHTS WOULD SHOW ON DASH AS WELL ALSO POWER STEERING SHOW ON DASH AND THE CAR JERK A LITTLE AND THE SPEEDOMETER AND FUEL HAND WOULDN'T MOVE
I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I HEARD A HIGH REVVING SOUND AS IF ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS RIGHT BESIDE ME PASSING AND SOON REALIZED THAT IT WAS MY CAR REVVING WITH THE RPM GAUGE GOING ABOVE 3 AND MY CAR SLOWING DOWN. MOMENTS LATER MY PASSENGERS AND I FELT A SUDDEN "JERK" AND THE CAR JETTED FORWARD ONLY TO START REVVING AGAIN AND THIS TIME I WAS MERELY MOVING AT ABOUT 20 MPH AS I WAS STILL IN SHOCK FROM THE FIRST REVVING AND NON-ACCELERATING MOMENT. AFTER TRYING HELPLESSLY TO GET THE CAR TO MOVE AT A SPEED OF AT LEAST 15-20 MPH, I DECIDED TO STOP/RESTART THE CAR AND TRY USING THE MANUAL SHIFT. IT GAVE ANOTHER SUDDEN "JERKING" MOVEMENT AND MOVED IN M5 BUT NOT EVEN 10 SECONDS THE CAR STARTED WITH THE LOUD REVVING SOUND AS IF I WERE MASHING GAS WHICH I WASN'T AND WE BARELY MADE IT HOME AT ABOUT 10MPH USING HAZARD LIGHTS. WE BASICALLY HAD TO PUSH IT OVER 2 VERY SMALL SPEED BUMPS ON THE WAY IN THE GATE. I DECIDED TO TAKE IT TO THE AUTONATION SHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE CAR WOULD NOT MOVE AND INSTEAD HAD TO BE TOWED THERE. AUTONATION CHEVY DID A "DIAGNOSIS" OF SORTS AND WITHIN MOMENTS CALLED TO SAY THAT THERE IS METAL IN THE TRANSMISSION AND I NEED TO PAY A WHOPPING $4,300.00 TO HAVE IT FIXED. OF COURSE I COULD GO ON ABOUT HOW FRUSTRATING AND HUMILIATING THIS WHOLE ORDEAL HAS BEEN FROM BEGINNING TO $$$$ END BUD I'D APPRECIATE IT IF CHEVY CAN REACH OUT TO ME BECAUSE I HAVE A FRIEND WHO SAID SHE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH HER MALIBU. I'M SURE THERE ARE OTHERS OUT THERE BUT I'M NOW WONDERING IF CHEVY WANTS TO WAIT UNTIL GOD FORBID A DIRE SITUATION OCCURS BEFORE THEY FIX THIS PROBLEM.

IN ADDITION, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DECELERATE AND THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE INCREASED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,615.
