HIGH MOUNTED BRAKE LIGHT FAILURE (3RD BRAKE LIGHT) - I FOUND THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR RECALL REPAIR THIS AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALER: HALEY CHEVROLET LOCATED IN: HALEY AUTOMOTIVE GROUP ADDRESS: 12400 TENNESSEE PLAZA, MIDLOTHIAN, VA 23112 HOURS: OPEN ⋅ CLOSES 8PM PHONE: (804) 818-7660 ** WHEN I PICKED UP THE VEHICLE I WAS NOT TOLD THAT WHATEVER WORK THEY DID DID NOT WORK. IN FACT, THEY PULLED THE CAR UP TO THE PICKUP AREA, SAID NOTHING ABOUT THEIR FAILURE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE, DID NOT TELL ME THAT THE BRALE LIGHT WAS STILLM NOT WORKING, THEREBY LEAVING ME WITH A CAR STILL BROKEN AND ME AT SAFETY RISK TO DRIVE A CAR WITH BRAKE LIGHT NOT WORKING, AND IN FACT I GOT A WARNING TICKET BY THE POLICE FOR THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT STILL BEUNG OUT
MY HEADLIGHT WENT OUT, I CHANGED IT, AND IT WENT OUT AGAIN IMMEDIATELY. I LOOKED AT THE WIRING, AND IT HAD MELTED THE CONNECTORS. I REPLACED THE PIGTAIL WIRING PART, AND IT CONTINUES TO GO OUT AS SOON AS I PUT A NEW HEADLIGHT IN. *TR
TIMING CHAIN BOLTS SHEERED OFF, CAUSING CHAIN TO COME OFF AND OTHER THINGS TO BREAK, RESULTING IN LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING ON MAJOR HIGHWAY.
I WAS DRIVING HOME ON A CITY STREET, WITH MY 3 YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE, WHEN SUDDENLY MY CAR STARTED VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND QUICKLY DECELERATED TO ABOUT 10 MPH. IT WAS VERY SCARY AND I JUST THOUGHT WHAT IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS ON THE INTERSTATE I REGULARLY DRIVE. THANKFULLY I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT HOME.
WHILE DRIVING THE CAR THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON AND THE MESSAGE "SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL" DISPLAYS INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THIS PROBLEM IS PART OF A RECALL IN 2014 THAT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE LIGHTS MAY OR MAY NOT WORK. I GOT A FOLLOW NOTICE THAT STATED THAT EVEN THOUGH THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM THE "BRAKE " LIGHT ISSUE COULD COME BACK AND THEY WOULD FIX IT FOR UP TO 10 YEARS. CHEVY STATES THAT THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT IS A DIFFERENT ISSUE AND HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEEDS, THE REVOLUTIONS PER MINUTE INCREASED TO 4,000 AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TRANSMISSION AND WAVE PLATE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT GOES OUT EVERY 2 MONTHS. I HAVE REPLACED THIS 3 TIMES. REPLACING THE HEADLIGHT REQUIRES REMOVING THE FRONT BUMPER AND IT IS $120 JUST TO REMOVE THE BUMPER TO DETERMINE THE ISSUE. NEW CONNECTOR AND PIGTAILS HAVE NOT SOLVED THE BURNOUT ISSUE. UPON AN INTERNET SEARCH, I FOUND OTHER HAVE THE SAME ISSUE WITH PASSENGER HEADLIGHT. MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I WAS UNABLE TO STEER WHILE ON THE FREEWAY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. KARL CHEVROLET (1101 SE ORALABOR RD, ANKENY, IA 50021, (515) 299-4300) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED THE CONTACT WITH CASE NUMBER: 8-433-300-9105. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,900.
POWER STEERING LOCKED WHEN DRIVING ONTO RAMP. CARS ALMOST HIT ME , I WAS ABLE TO GO TO CURB. CARS GOING FAST AND ALMOST HIT!
I THINK THE MALIBU HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AS THE CORVETTES HAD THE LIGHT HAS DONE WENT OUT 8 TIMES SINCE MY HUSBAND GOT THE CAR IN MARCH AND HE HAS TO TAKE THE WHEEL OFF AND THE PLACSIC UNDER PINNING BY THE WHEEL OFF AND UNCONNECT THE HEAD LIGHT AND CONNECT IT AGAIN AND IT COMES BACK ON. AND SOMETIMES IF HE JUST SMACKS THE LIGHT IT WILL START WORKING AGAIN BUT NOT ALWAYS IT'S THE LOW BEAM ON THE PASSENGER SIDE I HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM WITH MANY YEARS OF THE YEARS OF THIS MODEL CAR BUT HEARS WHAT I THINK THE PROBLEM IS LIKE I SAID THAT THE CORVETTES HAD ELECTRICAL CENTER' UNDER THE HOOD THAT MAY EXPAND DUE TO THE EXTREME ENGINE HEAT AND WHEN THIS ELECTRICAL CONNECTION EXPANDS AND CONTRACTS OVER AND OVER, IT IS PRONE TO BREAKING. WHEN THAT HAPPENS, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS WILL FAIL TO FUNCTION. I WOULD IMAGINE THAT THE FIX INVOLVES ADDING SOME SORT OF HEAT INSULATION TO THIS ELECTRICAL CENTER TO EITHER PROTECT THE WHOLE UNIT FROM THE HEAT OR TO PREVENT THE CONSISTENT EXPANSION UNDER HIGH TEMPERATURES. SO CAN Y'ALL PLEASE LOOK IN TO IT FOR THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND WE DON'T WANT NO TICKETS AND IT'S ANNOYING TAKING IT A PART BC IT WON'T WORK
TAKATA RECALL MY 2010 CHEVY MALIBU WAS IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. TURNED ON THE CAR PUT IT IN DRIVE AND DRIVE TONDRIVE FORWARD AND THE CAR WOULDN'T MOVE. IT SOUNDS LIKE IT'S ACCELERATING BUT THE CAR WON'T MOVE AT ALL. PUT CAR IN PARK AND IT WILL REVERSE FINE. GOES INTO PARK AND WORKS IN NEUTRAL. ANYTIME I TRY TO GO FORWARD THE CAR WON'T GO ANYWHERE. IT'S NOT MAKING ANY SOUNDS EVERYTHING SOUNDS NORMAL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD I NEED A NEW TRANSMISSION BY A COUPLE DIFFERENT CAR SHOPS AND THAT THE TRASMOSSION COOLING PIPE IS BROKEN BY CHEVY.
MALIBU DECREASES SPEED AND DOWNSHIFTS AND ENGINE POWER REDUCED COMES UP IN MESSAGE CENTER, NO BUMPS, HARD BRAKING, NO CARWASHES, SIMPLY DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AT 45MPH AND CAR ILLUMINATES ENGINE LIGHT. SEVERAL PARTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED ALREADY FOR EXAMPLE THROTTLE BODY, KNOCK SENSOR, MAF SENSOR, BATTERY, FUSE BOX, ACCELERATOR PEDAL ALL OF THESE PARTS AND MY ISSUE STILL PERSISTS. SEVERAL COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN MADE FOR THIS YEAR MAKE AND MODEL THEREFORE I DO NOT FEEL LIKE THIS IS AN ISOLATED ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT FAILED TO ILLUMINATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
MY 2010 MALIBU HAS STARTED TO HAVE ALL SORTS OF STEERING ISSUES, I HAVE HAD A LOT OF THE SAME ISSUES OTHERS HAVE HAD, MY ESC AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTED IT AND IT WORKED LIKE "NORMAL" BUT SINCE THEN THERE IS A LOT OF PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND EVEN IF YOU ARE SITTING STILL, THE WHEEL ITSELF MAKES A SUDDEN LITTLE JERK TYPE MOVEMENT. IS THERE ANYTHING OUT THERE TO FIX THESE ISSUES???
PASSENGER LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT WAS REPLACED 4 TIMES. UPON REMOVAL OF THE 4TH HEADLIGHT I NOTICED THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. I REPLACED THE WIRING HARNESS WITH A NEW ONE AND NOW THE LOW BEAM DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. I JUST RECEIVED A TICKET LAST NIGHT FROM THE POLICE. A FIX IT TICKET...AND NOW I DON'T KNOW HOW I AM GOING TO FIX THIS.
OUT OF NO WHERE MY CAR STARTED SHAKING I WAS IN THE HEAT WITH MY DAUGHTER IT SAID SERVICE ESC/SERVICE TRAC. I HAVE HAD MANY PEOPLE LOOK AT IT, I'VE HAD THEM TEST EVERYTHING BUT NOTHING SEEMS TO HELP IT DIDN'T DO IT FOR AWHILE THEN I LEFT MY CAR ON WITH THE A/C WHILE PICKING UP MY DAUGHTER WE WERE SITTING IN THE HEAT OUTSIDE HER SCHOOL SHE ONLY 2 AND COMPLAIN HOW HOT IT IS WHILE I'M TRYING SEE IF I CAN FIX IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES OUT OF NO WHERE IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.
PASSENGER LOW BEAM SOCKET BURNS OUT I'VE REPLACED THE HARNESS TWICIN LAST SIX MONTHS WITH A FEW NEW BULBS
THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES IN A MATTER OF 2 YEARS GOES OUT COMES BACK ON THEN OFF FOR A LONG PERIOD OF TIME HIT A BUMP AND IT MAY COME BACK ON BUT NOT ALL THE TIME
SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL, SERVICE ESC, LIGHTS COME ON AS DRIVING. LIGHTED UP ON INFORMATION PANE. SECOND TIME THIS IS HAPPENED. TOOK TO DEALER LAST TIME THEY DID SOME RESET AND CHARGED $75.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO MANEUVER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SUBURBAN CHEVROLET (12475 PLAZA DRIVE, EDEN PRAIRIE, MN 55344) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 99,000. *TT
MAY 4TH 2018 I WAS DRIVING AND STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO SHAKE AND TIGHTEN UP, I PULLED OVER AND PUT ON HAZARD LIGHTS , IT FELT IF I HAD A FLAT TIRE , POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, I SHUT CAR OFF THAT TURNED BACK ON PROCEEDED TO PULL ON TO HIGHWAY AND CAR SEEMED FINE AGAIN , I AM SCARED TO DRIVE.
SO I'M PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WOULD NOT UNLOCK YOU CAN'T USE THE KEY FOB YOU ALSO CAN'T USE IT INSIDE HANDLE TO OPEN IT OR THE OUTSIDE AND IT'LL STAY LOST 4 DAYS AND THEN UNLOCK ITSELF IT'LL BE OKAY FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN THE SAME THING HAPPENS ALL OVER AGAIN THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IF YOU CAN'T GET OUT OF YOUR CAR IN A HURRY WHEN THERE IS AN ACCIDENT OR YOU NEED TO TO ME THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE YOU NEVER KNOW WHEN IT'S GOING TO HAPPEN IT CAN BE WORKING FINE YOU CAN GO INTO THE STORE YOU CAN COME OUT YOU CAN'T GET IN THE CAR OR YOU CAN GET IN THE CAR TO COME HOME AND I CAN'T GET OUT OF THE CAR YES I BOUGHT MY CAR USED FROM TREGEMBO MOTORS AND OF COURSE THAT PART'S NOT UNDER WARRANTY I'VE LOOKED AT ALL THE REVIEWS THIS IS A BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR YEARS AND GM IS AWARE OF IT THEY NEED TO FIX IT THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME I'VE BEEN LOCKED IN OR OUT OF MY CAR THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR OVER A MONTH
AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF. WHEN OFF AND I HIT A BUMP IT TURNS BACK ON. I HAVE CHILDREN AND I AM SCARED OF AN EMERGENCY IT WILL NOT FUNCTION.

MY TAIL LIGHTS COME ON WITHOUT PRESSING THE PEDAL AND THEY DO NOT COME ON, WHEN THE PEDAL IS PRESSED. VERY, VERY CLOSE TO BEING REAR ENDED. ALL ROADS AND AT ALL SPEEDS. CRUISE CONTROL IS ALSO AFFECTED. ESC LIGHT HAS COME ON. VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. NHTSA SAYS THERE IS A RECALL, CHEVROLET SAYS THERE IS NOT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A NOTICE REGARDING THE WIRING CONNECTOR FOR THE SIDE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE REPAIRED OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT IF A RELATED WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, THEN THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SERVICED PER THE 'SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM'. IN ADDITION, IF THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATION RELATED TO THE FAILURE, THE CONTACT WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES TO DETERMINE IF THE VEHICLE HAD A POTENTIAL FAILURE RELATED TO THE 'SPECIAL COVERAGE PROGRAM'. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE, BUT WAS CONCERNED FOR HIS SAFETY AND THE POTENTIAL OF A FAILURE.
THE HEAD LIGHT LOW BEAM KEEPS BLOWING SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE IT COST TOO MUCH MONEY TO KEEP REPLACING AND IT IS A VERY COMMON COMPLAINT IF U GOOGLE IT WITH THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHT KEEPS SHORTING OUT OR WHATEVER IT'S DOING IT'S A SAFETY ISSUE AND A IT'S A PROBLEM BC PEOPLE CAN GET PULLED OVER AND IT'S NOT FAIR TOO THE PEOPLE BUY THIS CARS AND NOT KNOWING ABOUT THIS CHEVY NEEDS TOO OWN UP IT'S COST PEOPLE ALOT OF MONEY THAT SOME PEOPLE DON'T HAVE TO KEEP SPENDING ON THERE MISTAKE AND IT COULD CAUSE A FIRE AND PEOPLE HAVE KIDS. *TT
AT RANDOM OCCASIONS, THE FRONT DOOR LATCHES WILL NOT WORK. LAST NOVEMBER, THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR DID NOT OPEN EVEN AFTER ATTEMPTING TO OPEN IT MANUALLY AND USING THE POWER DOOR LOCK SWITCH. THIS MORNING, I HAD TWO ISSUES WITH THE DRIVER DOOR. FIRST, IT WOULD NOT SHUT UNTIL AFTER I USED THE BUTTON TO MANUALLY LOCK THE DOOR ("USED" MEANING I PULLED IT UP AND PUSHED IT DOWN SEVERAL TIMES IN QUICK SUCCESSION). THEN, AFTER I PARKED MY CAR, THE DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN UNTIL AFTER PUSHING THE BUTTON UP AND DOWN SEVERAL TIMES, USING THE REMOTE A COUPLE TIMES, ROLLING THE WINDOW UP AND DOWN, AND PUSHING THE BUTTON UP AND DOWN AGAIN. I WONDER IF HUMIDITY AND/OR MOISTURE MAY BE AFFECTING THE DOORS' ABILITY TO FUNCTION, AS IT HAD RAINED AND/OR SNOWED ON BOTH OCCASIONS; HOWEVER, THE WEATHER HAS NOT AFFECTED THE DOORS ON OTHER CARS I HAVE USED TO SUCH AN EXTENT. THE ISSUE WITH DOORS NOT OPENING/SHUTTING AS EXPECTED HAS BEEN DOCUMENTED BY OTHER 2008-12 MALIBU OWNERS ON VARIOUS WEBSITES AND SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED IMMEDIATELY.
"SERVICE AIRBAG" DASHBOARD WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY BOTH WHEN CAR IS AT REST OR IN MOTION, ESPECIALLY WHEN THE CAR GOES OVER A BUMP OR POTHOLE.
POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GOES OUT
WE GOT THIS 2010 MALIBU ABOUT A MONTH AGO. ON APRIL 12, 2010 I HAD A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING ON HIGH WAY 9. I PULLED OVER ON THE SHOULDER AND TURNED IT OFF AND WAITED ABOUT 25 MINUTES AND WHEN I STARTED THE ENGINE IT GOES BACK TO NORMAL. FEW DAYS AGO WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WHILE EXITING THE FREEWAY. AGAIN, WE HAD TO PARK IT ON THE SHOULDER AND WHEN WE TURNED IT OFF AND TURNED IT BACK ON IT WOULD GO BACK TO NORMAL. WE TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST SHOP AND THE MECHANICS THERE CHECKED IT AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THEY SAID ALL CHEVYS WITH TRACTION CONTROL ARE LIKE THAT, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S POURING RAIN OR WHEN IT'S TOO COLD, AND I BELIEVE THEY WERE TELLING THE TRUTH BECAUSE I USUALLY HAVE ALL THESE ESC/TRACTION AND STEERING WHEEL WARNING LIGHTS ONLY WHEN IT'S RAIINING OR TOO COLD. PLEASE HELP US AS WE HAVE KIDS AND DON'T WANT TO TAKE THE RISK. THANKS!
"TAKATA RECALL" MY SEAT-BELT LIGHT STAYS ON WHEN I HAVE MY SEAT-BELT ON, MY ESC LIGHT KEEPS BLINKING AS WELL AS MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. MY BRAKE LIGHTS STAY ON WHILE I AM DRIVING AND GO OFF WHEN I BRAKE.
I LEFT MY DRIVEWAY EARLY IN THE MORNING. AFTER GOING DOWN MY RESIDENTIAL STREET, I WENT TO TURN MY CAR TO THE LEFT AND THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT. ON MY DASH THE MEASSAGE "ESC SERVICE POWER STEERING APPEARED". AFTER TURNING MY CAR OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS, I TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK TO NORMAL, AND THE MESSAGE WAS GONE FROM MY DASH. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I SEE THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE CHEVROLET MALIBU FOR THIS PROBLEM, HOWEVER MY CAR'S VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN IT EVEN THOUGH IT IS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH POWER STEERING.

BRAKE LIGHTS STAYING ON, REPAIRED 5 TIMES, A LOT OF SENSOR PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR!
FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. THIS BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED NUMEROUS TIMES. IN REVIEWING SEVERAL DIFFERENT WEBSITES, THIS PROBLEM IS REPORTED REPEATEDLY, EVEN WITH COMMENTS OF GM MECHANIC STATING THERE IS AN ISSUE WITH THE HARNESS BUT GM IS NOT RECALLING IT. I PRAY THAT A CHILD NEVER RUNS OUT INTO THE STREET AND GETS HIT BY A CAR AS A RESULT OF THE DRIVER NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE OF THEIR CAR BECAUSE GM DOES NOT WANT TO PAY TO FIX THIS KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE HARNESS AND THE CONSTANT COMPLAINTS THEY ARE AWARE. .
SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR THE POWER STEERING SIGN WILL BE ON THE DASH, IT WILL ALSO SAY SERVICE THE ESC =. THERE WILL BE NO POWER STEERING. I CAN TURN OFF FOR AWHILE AND RE START AND THE PROBLEM WILL GO AWAY. THERE IS ALSO A SHACKING IN STEERING WHEEL WHILE I'M IN PARK OR STOPPED AT A LIGHT
2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU POWER STEERING SHIMMY STARTED YESTERDAY. TODAY POWER STEERING QUIT. AFTER RESTART POWER STEERING WORKS WITH HANDS OFF SHIMMY AGAIN.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH ESC, AND SERVICE ESC. I COULD NOT STEER MY CAR AS USUAL. I SHUT OFF THE CAR AND WHEN I STARTED IT BACK UP IT WAS FINE.

SUPPOSEDLY THIS VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF A POWER STEERING RECALL THAT WAS ISSUED IN 2014 ALTHOUGH IT APPEARS TO HAVE THE SAME MECHANICAL ISSUES. NO CORRELATION TO SPEED STEERING OR ANY OTHER NOTABLE VARIABLE THAT I COULD SEE.
FIST OCCURRED APPROX. 4YRS AGO THE STEERING WILL LOCK WHILE CAR IS IN MOTION TRACTION LIGHT POPS ON AND STEERING WILL LOCK CANNOT MOVE THE ONLY RECOURSE IS TO PLACE IN PARK, TURN OFF AND BACK ON TO FREE STEERING. I REPORTED TO MAUNDY CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP I WAS THERE IS NOT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON SO THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. THIS CONTINUE TO HAPPEN THROUGHOUT THE 4YRS MAYBE TWICE A YEAR UNTIL ENDING OF 2017 WHEN IT BECAME MORE CONSISTENT. AFTER MARCH OF 2018 AFTER IT HAPPENED 3 TIME WITHIN THAT MONTH, ONCE WITH MY GRANDDAUGHTER IN THE CAR, I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO PEP BOYS FOR A TUNE UP {PLEASE NOTE PREVENTANCE MAINTENENCE WORK IS BEING CONSTANTLY DONE ALL THIS WHILE } SPOKE TO THE ELECTRICIAN THAT WAS PERFORMING THE TUNE UP, AND EXPLAINED WHAT THE ISSUE WAS, HE DID PREFORMED A TUNE UP AND RAN A DIAGNOSE AND FOUND A C0561 CODE IN THE SYSTEM. HE ADVISE ME TO RETURN TO THE DEALERSHIP WITH THIS INFORMATION WHICH I DID, ALONG WITH THE PAPERWORK FROM PEP BOYS. IRONICALLY DESPITE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOT BEING ON MUNDY CHEVROLET " FOUND THE ISSUE" WHICH AMOUNTED TO $1400.00 IN REPAIR WORK. { AGAIN PLEASE NOTE I HAVE BEEN TAKEN MY CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE VARYING MAINTENANCE WORK DONE} I CONTACTED GM, I WAS ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND A SENIOR CASE ADVISOR BY THE NAME OF DESTINY, DESPITE SEVERAL CALLS AND VOICE MAIL, I AM YET TO RECEIVE A CALL FROM DESTINY. GM HAS SHOWN NO INTEREST IN AN ISSUE THAT IS LIFE THREATING. IMAGINE YOUR STEERING BASICALLY GOING "DEAD" WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION. I AM LUCKY TO STILL BE ALIVE. THIS HAS HAPPEN ON CITY STREET, WHILE IN MOTION PARTICULARLY ON TURNS.
FOR THE LAST THREE DAYS MY 2010 MALIBU IS EXPERIENCING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING. EVERY TIME I TURN MY CAR ON IT SAYS SERVICE ESC AND MY STEERING IS SUPER HARD TO WORK WITH. I CAN'T STEER MY CAR AT ALL. I HAVE TO SHUT MY CAR OFF AND RESET THE ENGINE UNTIL THE SERVICE ESC GOES AWAY. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK TODAY AND IT WENT OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND I COULDN'T STEER MY CAR AT ALL. I HAD TO PULL OVER WHICH WAS TOUGH BECAUSE THERE WAS SOME TRAFFIC. I'VE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER ONLINE AND MOST PEOPLE SAY THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE STEERING COLUMN BUT MY CAR'S VIN ISN'T POPPING UP FOR ANY OF THE RECALLS. WHICH IS CRAZY BECAUSE MY CAR IS DOING THE SAME STUFF THE PEOPLE WHO GOT IT FIXED FOR FREE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE SERVICE POWER STEERING AND THE ESC OFF INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AFTERWARDS, A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING ABILITY CAUSED THE STEERING WHEEL TO SEIZE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT HAD TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF TO RESET THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 182,000.
THERE ARE ALERTS ABOUT THE POWER STEERING AND THE SERVICE ESC ON THE DASH WHEN I TURN ON THE CAR. SOMETIMES WHEN I START THE CAR THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AND JERKS, WITHOUT MY CONTROL. THIS AFFECTS MY DRIVING ABILITIES AND IS A CLEAR DANGER. THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKES THE MOST WHEN I AM STOPPED, BUT IT SHAKES THE ENTIRE TIME I AM DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE OTHER TIMES I START THE CAR, THE POWER STEERING ALERTS COME ON AND THERE IS NO POWER STEERING AND I HAVE TO STEER MANUALLY. THIS PROBLEM STARTED SLOWLY; ORIGINALLY THE WHEEL SHOOK BUT NOT AS VIOLENTLY AS IT DOES NOW. OVER THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS IT HAS GOTTEN WORSE, AND RECENTLY THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT WHEN I'VE STARTED. BEFORE I COULD JUST RESTART MY CAR AND THE POWER STEERING WOULD WORK, BUT NOW THE MORE I RESTART THE CAR THE LESS LIKELY THE STEERING WILL WORK PROPERLY. THIS PROBLEM STARTED IN JANUARY BUT INTENSIFIED IN MARCH.
THE FIRST TIME MY VEHICLE DIED WHILE DRIVING I WAS SLOWING DOWN TO TURN RIGHT. THE ENGINE DIED AND I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, TRIED TO RESTART AND IT WOULD NOT STAY STARTED. I HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR GET THE CAR TO GIVE THEM CODES SO THEY HAD ME PICK IT UP. THE 2ND TIME THE CAR DIED ON THE FREEWAY A WEEK LATER. I WAS GOING 60MPH TRYING TO KEEP ACCELERATION WHEN IT LOST POWER. THANKFULLY I WAS NEAR AN EXIT AND I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE EXIT. AGAIN HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. THEY DUPLICATED THE PROBLEM BUT HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S CAUSING IT.
THE BRAKE LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WITHOUT PRESSING ON THE BRAKES. I REMEMBER THERE BEING A RECALL BEFORE AND I TOOK MY CAR IN AND IT GOT FIXED HOWEVER IT IS DOING IT AGAIN. AND MY AIR BAG LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME.

I WAS DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD, WHEN SUDDENLY, MY POWER STEERING FAILED. I HAD TO USE A GREAT DEAL MORE EFFORT TO STEER THE CAR TO AVOID PARKED CARS, AS WELL ONCOMING TRAFFIC. I HAD A COUPLE NEAR MISSES, BUT MADE IT TO MY DRIVEWAY. SINCE, I HAVE HAD THE SAME POWER STEERING FAIL 4 TIMES WHILE DRIVING IN NEIGHBORHOOD AND ON THE HIGHWAY EACH TIMEHIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY, I AVOIDED CONTACT WITH OTHER CARS WHILE MOVING, BUT ONLY DUE TO MY EXPERIENCED DRIVING. IF MY KIDS WERE DRIVING THIS CAR, THEY WOULD HAVE HAD AN ACCIDENT! NOW, I LEARNED GM HAD AN EFFECTIVE RECALL FOR MY MODEL, BUT FOR EARLIER YEARS UP THROUGH 2009. HENCE, THEY HAVE CLOSED SAID RECALL AND LEFT ME WITH NARY AN OPTION. I AM TURNING TO YOU TO SEE IF A RENEWED RECALL CAN BE REOPENED!
