ON 12/19/2016 AS I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN WHEN EXITING THE HIGHWAY ONTO A SURFACE STREET MY 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE DASH BOARD DISPLAYED A "POWER STEERING " MESSAGE. BEING UNABLE TO STEER MY CAR WENT FORWARD AND I ALMOST HIT THE CAR ON MY RIGHT WHO WAS ALSO TURNING LEFT. I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BREAK TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR AND THE CARS BEHIND ALSO HAD TO SLAM THEIR BREAKS. LUCKILY NO ONE HIT EACH OTHER. RIGHT AFTER THAT DASHBOARD MESSAGE DISAPPEARED AND MY CAR WAS ABLE TO TURN AGAIN WITH NO PROBLEM. THE NIGHT OF 12/20/2016 THE SAME HAPPENED BUT AS I WAS EXPECTING A PARKING LOT. A WEEK BEFORE THE FIRST INCIDENT I STARTED TO NOTICE THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD POP LIKE IT WAS SHUTTING DOWN AT A STOP OR RED LIGHT. I READ THAT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM TO GM AND NHTSA AND THAT OWNERS IN OTHER STATES HAVE RECEIVED RECALL NOTICES FOR THAT PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED SUCH NOTICE AND IT'S NOT LISTED AS A RECALL ON THE NHTSA OR GM WEBSITE FOR MY VIN. *TR
AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE, I LOST MY ABILITY TO STEER. THE WORDS "POWER STEERING" AND "SERVICE ESC" FLASHED ON MY DASH. I ALMOST HIT THE CAR NEXT TO ME. I MADE IT TO WORK. WHEN I LEFT WORK, THE POWER STEERING WAS WORKING JUST FINE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO PLACE THE GEAR SHIFT IN REVERSE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REVERSE AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000.
I CALL WYLIE MUSSER MOTOR S FOR SERVICE AND THEY SAID THEY WILL REPAIR WHEN THEY HAVE THE ORDER. IT HAS BEEN 2 YEARS AND STILL NO CALL BACK FOR SERVICE.
STEERING WHEEL "SHAKES" AS OF 12/2016 VEHICLE HAS APPROX 92,000 MILES PURCHASED VEHICLE NEW IN NOV 2010 FOUR NEW TIRES JUNE 2015 FULL ALIGNMENT AUGUST 2016. BRAND NEW BRAKE PADS AND BRAND NEW ROTORS, ALL 4 WHEELS, NOVEMBER 2016. DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT (AND CONDITION): STEERING WHEEL HAS BEEN RATTLING NOTICEABLY AT FREEWAY SPEEDS (40 MPH TO 75 MPH) AND WHILE TRACKING A STRAIGHT LINE. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE THE VEHICLE HIT THE 40,000 MILE MARK. CAN FEEL SLIGHT MOVEMENT IN THE STEERING WHEEL COINCIDENT WITH THIS RATTLING OF THE STEERING WHEEL. DOES NOT APPEAR TO AFFECT ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE TO TRACK A STRAIGHT LINE WHILE MOVING. THE RATTLE ALSO OCCURS AT LOWER SPEEDS LESS THAN 40 MPH, BUT IT HARDER TO DISCERN SINCE THE CITY STREET ROAD CONDITIONS IN SE WISCONSIN ARE TERRIBLE. STARTING ABOUT DECEMBER 2016, I HAVE NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL SHAKING WHEN THE VEHICLE IS NOT MOVING, THE ENGINE IS RUNNING, AND THE VEHICLE IS IN DRIVE (NOT SURE IF THIS OCCURS WHEN IT IS IN PARK). THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMS TO BE DOING SOME KIND OF "HUNTING" AS THE RATTLING IS RANDOM. APPEARS TO BE INDEPENDENT OF TEMPERATURE AS THIS OCCURRED WHEN IT WAS -10 DEG F AND AS WELL AT ABOUT 50 DEG F. POWER STEERING FLUID LEVELS ARE NORMAL. I CAN NOT DISCERN WHETHER THIS OCCURS WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TURNING WHILE IN MOTION, OR WHILE TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY. END. *TR
IN LAST 12 TO 14 MONTHS TO INCLUDE TODAY, THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT ON PASSENGER SIDE HAS GONE OUT. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE AND NOW LOOKING AT A THIRD TIME. I WANT TO SAY THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE AS THE LAST TIME IT WENT OUT, SOMETIMES IT WOULD COME BACK ON IF I HIT A BUMP. I WILL BE GETTING IT SERVICED AGAIN AS NOT HAVING A HEADLIGHT WORKING IS A DANGER. THE REASON I AM CONTACTING NHTSA IS I HAVE TALK TO AND READ OF MULTIPLE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO USE THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE LIGHTS WERE NOT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BULBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED MORE THAN USUAL. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL INDICATORS WERE BLINKING ERRATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BULBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. ALSO, WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED AND EMITTED A BURNING ODOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 70,000.
THE CAR HESITATES ON A DRY STRAIGHT ROAD GOING 55 MILES PER HOUR, BUT ALSO ON WET ROADS GOING 30 TOO. THE CRUISE CONTROL RANDOMLY DOES NOT DISENGAGE. MOST CONCERNING FOR ME IS WHEN I AM AT A COMPLETE STOP AND PRESS ON THE GAS TO MOVE FORWARD THE CAR RANDOMLY SLOWS AND SHUTS DOWN WITHOUT WARNING.
WHEN I ENTERED MY CAR IN TURNED THE SWITCH TO START THE CAR AN THE SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND WOULD NOT GO OFF.
1. MY CAR IS 5 YEAR OLD AND 73,000 MILES. WE USE IT FOR COMMUTING TO WORK AND GROCERY. AND WE DO ALL THE MAINTENANCE AT DUBLIN CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP. ON NOV 11TH, MY CAR BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY AND BLOCKED THE TRAFFIC. THE FRONT TRUNK WAS SMOKING. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. THEY SAID POSSIBLE ENGINE PROBLEM. ALTHOUGH THE CAR IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY, IT IS HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS CAR HAS NO QUALITY PROBLEM WITH SUCH FEW YEARS AND RELATIVELY LOW MILEAGE. 2. A FEW MONTHS AGO, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM THE CAR MAKING COMPANY AND TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO GET THE RECALL DONE. BUT THEY SAID THE PART HAS NOT ARRIVED AND ASKED US TO WAIT UNTIL THEY CALL US. WE NEVER GET CALL FROM THEM. THIS TIME, I CALLED THEIR RECALL DEPARTMENT AND LEFT A MESSAGE. NEVER HEAR BACK FROM THEM.
THE ENGINE OVERHEATED WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, IT LOST POWER AND STARTED SMOKING. THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE DROPPED TO ZERO AND WAS FORCED TO PULL OFF ONTO THE SHOULDER AND BE TOWED TO A SERVICE STATION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER OPERABLE. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK FROM THE WATER PUMP. THE VEHICLE HAD 98,616 MILES AT THE TIME OF THIS INCIDENT. THE ENGINE HAD TO BE REPLACED AT GREAT COST AND INCONVENIENCE! GM ISSUED A BULLETIN FOR WHAT SOUNDS LIKE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE CHEVROLET CRUZE (2011-2014) AND SONIC (2012-2014). IT IS BULLETIN NO.: 14371B. I CALLED GM TO REQUEST REIMBURSEMENT BUT THEY SAY NO ACTION CAN BE TAKEN BECAUSE THERE IS NO BULLETIN OR RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM FOR THE 2011 CHEVY MALIBU.
THE HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT ON THIS VEHICLES , HAVE REPLACED THEM SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY JUST KEEP GOING OUT. MY AUNT HAS THE SAME MAKE , MODEL CAR AS I DO AND SHE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS.
LATE LAST WEEK, AFTER GETTING OFF THE FREEWAY, ONTO THE CITY STREET, MY FRONT WHEELS COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AT 50 MPH (AS IF THE TRANSMISSION HAD A CATASTROPHIC MECHANICAL FAILURE). THIS ENDED UP IN SOMEONE REAR ENDING ME, CAUSING INJURIES AND SEVERAL THOUSAND DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE CARS.
FIRE IN TRUNK STARTED AT REAR FUSE PANEL. DRIVING AT 35 MPH IN DRIZZLE, TRUNK AJAR MESSAGE LIT, STOPPED TO CHECK IT & ENGINE STALLED AS I PULLED OFF THE ROAD, FOUND THE TRUNK SECURELY LATCHED, AND COULDN'T OPEN IT WITH KEY FOB OR BUTTON IN CABIN. THEN SAW PAINT TURNING BROWN (SCORCHING) AT REAR CORNER PANEL AT LOCATION OF REAR FUSE PANEL. BY THE TIME FIRE DEPT. ARRIVED THE CABIN AND TRUNK FULLY ENGULFED - TOTAL LOSS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS T-BONED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A LOCAL TOW YARD AND THEN TAKEN TO DAVIS CHEVROLET (2277 S LOOP W, HOUSTON, TX 77054, (832) 554-9250). THE DEALER REPLACED THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR, WINDOW, SIDE VIEW MIRROR, AND FRONT PANEL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. *TT*JB
MY VEHICLE DOES NOT ALWAYS FLASH THE NO SEAT BELT SIGN. WHEN DRIVING UNBUCKLED, THE NO SEATBELT WARNING SIGN WILL APPEAR AND FLASH. HOWEVER, AFTER JUST A FEW MOMENTS THE WARNING LIGHT WILL TURN OFF. THERE HAVE ALSO BEEN INSTANCES WHERE THE WARNING LIGHT WON'T EVEN TURN ON WHEN THE SEATBELT IS NOT FASTENED. *TR
TRANSMISSION WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING. WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS THEN WOULD NOT GO INTO REVERSE TO CLEAR TRAFFIC SUSPECT WAVE PLATE FAILURE IN THE TRANSMISSION
EPS ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING HAS FAILED. IT MAKES THE STEERING REVERT TO MANUAL STEERING. DEALERSHIP SAYS THAT THE TORQUE SENSOR IS BAD. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE BECOMES IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. I CAN RESTART THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES AND THE EPS STARTS WORKING, BUT FAILS LATER.
CHECK LIGHT WITH EVAPORATIVE LEAK AT LESS THAN 5 YEARS AND APPROX 97800 MILES. DEALER REPLACED HEAVILY CORRODED FUEL PUMP MODULE, AND A WEEK LATER THE FUEL TANK ITSELF, ALSO DUE TO HEAVY CORROSION. DEALER PROVIDED DISCOUNTS AND FREE LOANER, I HAVE NO COMPLAINT WITH DEALER. MY COMPLAINT IS WITH CHEVROLET FOR NOT PROPERLY DESIGNING THESE PARTS WHICH WERE HEAVILY CORRODED IN LESS THAN 5 YEARS. I AM OUT A SUBSTANTIAL SUM, ABOUT $1600, AND HAVE LOOKED ONLINE AND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INSTANCE. A FUEL OR VAPOR LEAK IS CERTAINLY DANGEROUS AND I ASSUME IS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH FEDERAL EMISSIONS REGS. I HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY WILL NOT EVEN RESPOND TO EMAIL. I WAS HOPING FOR SOME COMPENSATION AS I AM A LONGTIME/MULTI CHEVY OWNER. WHILE NOT AN IMMEDIATE SAFETY ISSUE, IT SEEMS A FUEL LEAK IS POSSIBLE WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND I WANTED TO LOG A COMPLAINT SO NHTSA CAN DETERMINE IF A MANUFACTURING/DESIGN DEFECT EXISTS. I DON'T BELIEVE I HAVE THE ONLY MALIBU WITH THIS PROBLEM. THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.
THE DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT CONTINUE TO BLOW, I HAVE REPLACED THE BULB 5 TIMES AND ALSO REPLACE A BURNT-OUT WIRE BUT THE BULB HAS BLOWN AGAIN AND IT'S GETTING VERY EXPENSIVE.
HAD MULTIPLE CONCERNS REGARDING SLOW ACCELERATION AND ROUGH JERKING WHEN SHIFTING GEARS WHICH I WAS TOLD WAS NORMAL FOR MY VEHICLE MODEL ESPECIALLY IN COMPARISON TO MY PREVIOUS VEHICLE AN HONDA ACCORD. PURCHASED CAR WITH 34K MILES ON IT AT 56K MILES I WAS REVERSING OUT OF A PARKING SPOT AND FELT A SUDDEN HESITATION. CAR STILL DROVE NORMAL IN DRIVE, DROVE ABOUT HALF A MILE ON HIGHWAY AND ONCE EXITING HIGHWAY I NOTICED A WEIRD SCREECHING SOUND COMING FROM MY CAR. PULLED OVER TO A MCDONALDS TO INSPECT VEHICLE AND IT WAS STILL MAKING NOISE. TURNED VEHICLE OFF AND WENT THROUGH P,N,D AND SOUND PERSISTED. DROVE VEHICLE A FEW BLOCKS SINCE I WAS CLOSE TO HOME AND SOUND STOPPED. BROUGHT CAR TO A REPAIR SHOP TO HAVE INSPECTED PER THE SHOP EVERYTHING WAS INTACT AND THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE NOISE. ONE DAY LATER I STOPPED ON A SIDE STREET AT A STOP SIGN AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS TO PULL AWAY FROM STOP SIGN CAR WOULD NOT MOVE. TRIED AGAIN, CAR REVVED AND MOMENTS LATER CAR WOULD JERK FORWARD VIOLENTLY. CRAWLED CAR TO SIDE OF STREET AND HAD TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS TRANSMISSION FAILURE, DEEPER DIAGNOSTIC WORK REVEALED A BELT HAD BROKEN WITHIN THE TRANSMISSION. HAVE RECEIVED CAR BACK WITH REBUILT TRANSMISSION HOWEVER CAR STILL IS VERY SLUGGISH WITH SLOW RESPONSE IN 1ST AND 2ND GEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE POWER STEERING ABILITY SEIZED. THE SERVICE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER TO THE RIGHT LANE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR WAS REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY NORMALLY. HAD AN ACCIDENT AND DRIVER BAG DEPLOYED LITTLE. PASSENGER NEVER DEPLOYED. CAR WAS ON HIGHWAY. INVOLVED WITH ANOTHER CAR THEIR'S FULLY DEPLOYED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTIONED AND THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED FRACTURED BONES ON HER FACE AND THE PASSENGER SUSTAINED MINOR CONTUSIONS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED DESTROYED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING AXLE AND TIRES WERE DEFECTIVE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000.
TRANSMISSION BEGAN LAGGING BETWEEN SHIFTS FOR 3RD & 5TH GEARS. TOOK IT IN TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP WHO NOTED THE ISSUE BUT TOLD US THAT THERE WERE NO CODES SO THEY WOULDN'T DO ANYTHING. AFTER A COUPLE OF MONTHS THE TRANSMISSION FAILED COMPLETELY WHICH REQUIRED A REPLACEMENT TRANSMISSION WHICH COST US $1500. WHEN WE PICKED THE VEHICLE UP AFTER THE REPLACEMENT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS CROOKED WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT AND THERE WERE NOISES DURING THE DRIVE. TRADED THE VEHICLE IN FOR A NEW VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHTS SUDDENLY FAILED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT REPLACED THE LOW BEAM BULBS OVER 10 TIMES WITHIN THE PAST 4 YEARS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE PASSENGER'S AND DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CONTACTED THE DEALER MCCARTHY CHEVROLET LEE'S SUMMIT (945 SE OLDHAM PKWY, LEE'S SUMMIT, MO 64081, (816) 356-6610) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSE NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
I PURCHASED MY PRE OWNED 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU VEHICLE 3 YEARS AGO AND AFTER 80000 MILES MY TRANSMISSION COMPLETELY COLLAPSED. I HAVE TAKEN GOOD CARE OF MY CAR AND STILL OWE $8000.00 ON MY LOAN. I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM PEOPLE IN MY SAME SITUATION WITH THE 2011 MALIBU. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY GM HASN'T ISSUED A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSIONS. THIS IS CLEARLY A SAFETY ISSUE. I WAS EXITING THE FREEWAY WITJ BOTH OF MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR, WHEN MY TRANSMISSION GAVE OUT. IT WILL NOT GO IN REVERSE OR GO OVER 20 MPH. I FEEL THAT THERE SHOULD BE SOME LEVEL OF ACCOUNTABILITY FROM GM.
MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LAMP CAME ON WHILE I WAS PULLING OUT OF THE DOCTOR'S OFFICE. VEHICLE COMPLETELY SHUTOFF, AND NOTHING WAS WORKING. I HAD TO MANUALLY OPEN MY DOOR TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE. I POPPED MY HOOD TO CHECK WHETHER OR NOT MY BATTERY CABLES HAD BECOME LOOSE, BUT EVERYTHING WAS OK. AFTER RETURNING TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT, THE CAR STARTED WITH EASE. THIS WAS THE SECOND TIME MY CAR HAD COMPLETELY SHUTOFF WHILE DRIVING IT. IN NOVEMBER 2015, AS I ENTERED AN ONRAMP, IT CUT OFF. THIS ALMOST GAVE ME A HEART ATTACK. I TOOK MY CAR TO AUTO ZONE FOR A FREE CHECK, THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING. TODAY (7/20/2016), I WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND THEY RAN A DIFFERENT TEST, GAVE ME A PRINTOUT THAT INDICATED THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER (BOHN GMC), WHERE IT IS PRESENTLY. WHEN MY VEHICLE COMPLETELY TURNED OFF IN TRAFFIC, I AND MY PASSENGER, COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. IN MY OWNER'S MANUAL, IT STATES THAT IF THE LIGHT COMES ON AND STAYS OWN, 'DIAGNOSIS AND SERVICE MIGHT BE REQUIRED'. NO WHERE DOES IT INDICATE THAT THE VEHICLE COULD TURN OFF WHILE DRIVING.

LAST TIME MY HUSBAND JUST PUT IT INTO NEUTRAL AS ROLLING DOWN A HILL, AND NOT PARK AND IT STARTED UP. THE WORSE TIME WAS AT A STOP SIGN IN 90 DEGREE WEATHER AND IT TURNED ITSELF OFF, PUT IN PARK TO START, AND NO TURNING THE OVER AT ALL. LOCKED IN PARK WITH NO WAY TO GET IT OUT OF PARK. WAS GIVEN CLEAN CARFAX AND MAINTENANCE RECORD THAT THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN MAINTAINED PER MANUFACTURES SCHEDULE. IT HAS AN ENCLOSED TRANSMISSION AND CANNOT CHECK TRANSMISSION FLUID IT HAS TO BE MAINTAINED. A YEAR AFTER THE PURCHASE AND ADDING ONLY 8K MILES THIS CAR HAS A COMPLETELY BLOWN TRANSMISSION IN WILL COST $4,888 TO HAVE A NEW TRANSMISSION ORDERED. MAY 11, 2016 DAY 1 WHILE DRIVING CAR BEGAN TO REDUCE SPEED ON IT'S OWN. MAY 12, 2016 DAY 2 UPON STARTING CAR THE ESC SERVICE LIGHT IS ON, IT READS THE "ESC IS OFF" CAR WAS STATIONARY.
MY 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU IS CRANKING, BUT NOT STARTING. I HAD A IT TOWED TO A REPAIR SHOP, WHO RAN A TEST ON THE FUEL SYSTEM, BATTERY, ALTERNATOR, BUT NOTHING WAS FOUND. I RESEARCHED IT AND FOUND THAT THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM CAN STOP YOUR VEHICLE FROM STARTING. IT SEEMS THAT THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM LOCKED AFTER I WAS SITTING IN MY CAR DURING LUNCH LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR AN HOUR. I TURNED THE KEY TWICE TO RESET THE RADIO AFTER IT TIMED OUT. AS I LEFT WORK TO GO HOME IT WOULDN'T START. I FOUND OUT THAT IF YOU RESET THE SYSTEM, IT WILL START AFTER 10-15 MINS. AFTER SITTING OVERNIGHT AT THE REPAIR SHOP, IT STARTED. HERE I AM A WEEK LATER AND ITS DOING IT AGAIN, BUT NOW I'M GETTING A SIGNAL WITH A LOCKED CAR SYMBOL ON THE DASH. IT SEEMS THAT THAT ANTI-SYSTEM IS LOCKED AGAIN. I CANNOT FIND OUT HOW TO RESET IT. SOMETIMES SHUTTING THE CAR OFF, WAITING A FEW MOMENTS, AND RESTARTING WOULD USUALLY GET IT RUNNING CORRECTLY AGAIN. HOWEVER, OTHER TIMES IT WILL REMAIN FOR SEVERAL DAYS. THE ISSUE HAS BEEN BECOMING MORE FREQUENT AND STAYING LONGER AS TIME GOES ON.
