DRIVING ON BRIDGE AT 55 MPH...FELT LIKE I HAD A TIRE BLOW, CAR SOMEWHAT LOST POWER, THEN HEARD CHIME FROM DASHBOARD MESSAGE CENTER. TWO MESSAGES APPEARED ON MESSAGE CENTER.."POWER STEERING" AND "ESC SERVICE". NOTICED I HAD NO POWER STEERING...MADE IT TO WORK.....NOT ONLY DID POWER STEERING GO OUT, BUT I COULD BARELY TURN CORNERS AND HAD AN EXTREMELY ROUGH TIME TURNING THE WHEELS TO PARK. IT WAS AS THOUGH I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE RACK AND PINION STEERING...THE STEERING WAS DIFFICULT LIKE WHEN YOUR CAR DIES. I WENT OUT TO THE CAR AN HOUR LATER, STARTED IT, AND ALL MESSAGES/WARNING WERE GONE AND I HAD POWER STEERING BACK. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID TO SCHEDULE APPT SO THEY COULD RESERVE A LOANER VEHICLE DUE TO RECALL. *TR
THE WELD ON MY SEAT TRACK BROKE. I WORK AT A DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT SUPPOSE TO BREAK. MY SEAT IS COMPLETELY OFF THE SEAT TRACK ON MY DRIVER'S RIGHT PART OF THE SEAT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE REPLICATED. AFTER APPROXIMATELY THREE MONTHS, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FUEL LINES NEEDED TO BE CLEANED AND CARBON BUILDUP FROM THE INTAKE VALVES NEEDED TO BE REMOVED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE CODES AND PERFORMED A FUEL INDUCTION CLEANING. AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED, THE AIR BAG, THE BRAKES, THE SEAT BELT, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INTERMITTENTLY. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V252000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, EXTERIOR LIGHTING, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, VEHICLE SPEED CONTROL), BUT WAS UNAWARE IF THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE REAR FUSE BOX AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,687.
ON AUGUST 6,, 2014 I HAD TAKEN MY 3 KIDS TO THE LAKE @ DREHER ISLAND STATE PARK. UPON GETTING READY TO LEAVE I PUT ON BRAKES TO SEE WHAT MY SON ASKED ME.FOR NO REASON THE CAR STARTED MOVING FORWARD & I COULDN'T GET IT TO STOP GET THE WHEELS TO TURN AS IT WAS VERY HARD & PUSHED THE EMERGENCY BRAKES & IT KEPT GOING TILL IT WENT IN THE DITCH ON A CONCRETE TERRACOTTA CAUSING IT TO BEND A PIECE OF WHAT WAS TOLD TO ME THE A FRAME & UNDER THE FRONT END! I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP & TOLD IT WASN'T POSSIBLE. BEFORE THIS HAPPENED I COULD PARK MY CAR & THE ENGINE WOULD ACT IS IF IT WAS TRYING TO GO W/O ME MASHING THE GAS OR ANYTHING THEN IDLED DOWN REPEATEDLY ACTED AS IF IT WAS GOING TO SHUT OFF! I'VE EVEN HAD 2 BUY 2 NEW BATTERIES, FIXING TO BUY ANOTHER! THEY SAID A CONNECTION WAS CAUSING THE BATTERY TO BE DRAINED & CELLS KILLED. ON THE INTERSTATE 2 DAYS AGO I HAD THE CRUISE CONTROL ON, FOR NO REASON IT STARTED LOSING SPEED THEN WOULD START CATCHING BACK UP ON IT'S OWN & I TURNED IT OFF! THE MOTOR MADE A SCREECHING NOISE! I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT'S GOING ON! EVEN MY TAIL LIGHTS WOULDN'T COME ON LAST NIGHT UNTIL I MASHED THE BREAKS A FEW TIMES, CUT OFF THE LIGHTS, & RESTARTED THE CAR! MY MAJOR ISSUE IS NOW I'M GOING TO HAVE TO FILE A CLAIM FOR THE INCIDENT & I HAD NO PART OF BEING @ FAULT & CAN'T EXPLAIN WHAT HAPPENED! IT STILL IDLES WRONG & THE CRUISE CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON @ TIMES W/O ME TOUCHING IT! I'M BEGINNING TO WORRY ABOUT THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN AS WELL AS MYSELF, BUT ESPECIALLY MY KIDS! WHAT CAN I DO? THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BY APPLY THE BRAKE, BUT TO NO AVAIL. AS THE VEHICLE CONTINUED TO ACCELERATED WITH RPM'S REACHING 7.5 WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON. SHE ATTEMPTED TO SLOW THE VEHICLE DOWN BY DRIVING ALONG SIDE OF A CORNFIELD IN THE GRASS WHICH WAS ALSO UNSUCCESSFUL/ IT WAS AT THAT POINT SHE SHIFTED THE GEAR INTO PARK, WHICH JOLTED HER SIDEWAYS. THE VEHICLE THEN SKIDDED UNTIL SHE STOPPED ON AN INCLINE IN AN AREA NEAR THE CORNFIELD. *JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH OVER A BRIDGE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING THE FAILURE, THE SERVICE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND SAFELY COAST OFF THE BRIDGE. AFTER NUMEROUS ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS SUCCESSFULLY RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, BUT THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE OR DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. TWO WEEKS LATER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THERE WAS A SHORT CIRCUIT IN THE HARD WIRING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 171,000.

WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE DID NOT SHIFT IN THE 45-55MPH RANGE, ( I'M GUESSING 5TH GEAR AS I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY GEARS IT HAS ) THEN AGAIN THE SAME ISSUE AT 25 MPH. REPEATED MULTIPLE TIMES THROUGH THE DRIVE HOME. *TR

2011 CHEVY MALIBU LT2 WITH A 4 CYLINDER ENGINE, 28000 MILES, 3-1/2 YEARS OLD, IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, OUT OF THE BLUE SHOWS THE "SERVICE AIR BAG" AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON. *TR
CURRENTLY THERE IS A SAFETY RECALL NUMBER 13036 ON MY VEHICLE. I WAS DIRECTED BY GM TO TAKE MY VEHICLE TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP AND HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST RAN ON THE VEHICLE FOR POTENTIAL PROBLEMS WITH THE WIRING HARNESS. WHEN THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS DONE THERE WERE NO ISSUES FOUND IN REGARDS TO CODES BEING DISPLAYED. THIS TEST WAS NOT THE TEST THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DONE ACCORDING TO A GM REPRESENTATIVE SINCE THEY HAVE NO INFORMATION ON THE RECALL ITSELF, OTHER THEN WHAT WAS LISTED IN THE RECALL LETTER. WHEN I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY ISSUES SINCE I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING THEM ALL ALONG I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE UNTIL PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SAFE TO DRIVE, REGARDLESS OF THE POTENTIAL FOR AN INCREASED RISK OF A CRASH DUE TO THE CIRCUMSTANCES OF THE RECALL. I ALSO DID NOT RECEIVE ANY INFORMATION IN REGARDS TO THE TEST THAT WAS PERFORMED ON MY VEHICLE BY THE DEALERSHIP, WHICH I WAS TOLD BY THE GM REPRESENTATIVE WAS ALSO INCORRECT. II WAS ORIGINALLY TOLD BY A GM REPRESENTATIVE THAT THE PARTS WERE ALSO AVAILABLE REGARDLESS OF WHAT THE LETTER STATED AND THAT I SHOULD DISREGARD THAT PORTION OF THE LETTER. THIS WAS ALSO DETERMINED TO BE FALSE AS THE PARTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE UNTIL MID AUGUST ACCORDING TO A GM REP AT A LATER DATE. AS OF YET THERE HAS BEEN NO RESOLUTION TO THE ISSUES I HAVE EXPERIENCED WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THESE ISSUES INCLUDE THE INCREASED TRAVEL NEEDED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AS WELL AS THE ECS BEING DISPLAYED AS NOT FUNCTIONING WHILE PARKED AND DRIVING. ALTHOUGH MY WIFE AND I BOTH HAVE EXPRESSED OUR CONCERNS WITH THE VEHICLES SAFETY AND ITS CURRENT ISSUES GM HAS FAILED TO PROVIDE ANY RESOLUTION TO THE PROBLEMS OR THE ISSUE WITH THE RECALL, WHEN THEY COULD SIMPLY AUTHORIZE A RENTAL OR SERVICE LOANER ROM THE DEALERSHIP. *TR

BOUGHT USED IN NOVEMBER 2013 WITH 23,000 MILES. CAR'S RESISTANT TO ACCELERATION ATTEMPTS, LOSES POWER AT VARYING SPEEDS FROM 30 MPH AND UP. VEHICLE BROUGHT IN, DEALER STATED THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS. THE PROBLEM IS VERY INTERMITTENT, THAT IS TO SAY IT DOESN'T DO IT ALL THE TIME BUT THIS HAS LEFT ME IN A DANGEROUS SPOT WHILE CHANGING LANES OR PULLING OUT ONTO A STREET FROM A STOPPED POSITION; I CAN FLOOR THE GAS PEDAL AND IT SLUGGISHLY ACCELERATES. THE RPM OFTEN RACES WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AFTER HAVING TO SLOW DOWN FOR TRAFFIC ISSUES. THIS CAR DOES NOT GET CLOSE TO THE QUOTED FUEL MILEAGE THAT IT IS SUPPOSED TO FOR AN LT; MY SOLE REASON FOR PURCHASING THIS CAR. *TR

WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED AND WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PAST 5 MPH. IN ADDITION, THE ESC WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ESC FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE CONTACT INDICATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL AND THE POWER STEERING SENSOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.
HAVE HEARD A CLANKING/CLUNKING NOISE IN STEERING SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN NOV 2013. NOT ALWAYS BUT ON OCCASION AND IT BECAME A NORMAL DRIVING NOISE IN THE VEHICLE AFTER SEVERAL PEOPLE TRIED TO DIAGNOSE WHAT I WAS HEARING AND FEELING IN THE STEERING. NOISE BECAME LOUDER THE LAST COUPLE WEEKS AND 4 DAYS AGO IT MADE A LOUD BANGING NOISE AND WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. NO NOTICEABLE CHANGE IN CONTROL AT THIS POINT JUST SEEMED A LITTLE LOOSE. YESTERDAY WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 70 MPH ON A S CURVE, AS I ATTEMPTED TO STEER THE CAR RIGHT TO FOLLOW THE CURVE MIDWAY I NOTICED IT WAS NOT RESPONDING AND CONTINUED TO CROSS THE LANE I SLOWED MY SPEED BY PRESSING THE BRAKE LIGHTLY AND THE CAR BEGAN TO RESPOND TO MY STEERING I EXITED THE INTERSTATE AND STOPPED. I LAID UNDER THE VEHICLE AND USED MY FOOT TO TURN STEERING WHEEL BACK AND FORTH. IT WAS LOUD RESISTANT AND HAD MINIMAL RESPONSE TO HALF TURNS OF THE WHEEL. I AM ALMOST NO LONGER IN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND ITS GETTING WORSE WITH EVERY SLIGHT TURN OF THE WHEEL. IM AFRAID THAT IF I HADN'T KNOWN THAT DRIVING THE CAR IN THESE CONDITIONS IS DANGEROUS I MAY HAVE CONTINUED TO DO SO AND EVENTUALLY CRASHED. WHAT IS SO FRIGHTENING IS THAT THE MAJORITY OF PEOPLE WHO OPERATE A VEHICLE THINK THAT LITTLE NOISES LIKE THIS ONE STARTED AS AREN'T ANYTHING MAJOR. WITH THE LACK OF VEHICLE KNOWLEDGE THINGS COULD EASILY PROGRESS INTO SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY'S. I HAVE 3 KIDS UNDER 10 AND A CRASH AT ANY SPEED AFTER LOOSING STEERING CONTROL COULD KILL DRIVER, PASSENGERS, PEDESTRIANS OTHER INNOCENT PEOPLE. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. *TR
THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARS THE LIGHT COMES ON AND SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE TRACTION, SERVICE ESC THIS APPEARS AT RANDOM SPEEDS AND EVEN WHEN IM SETTING AT THE BANK WITH MY CAR IN PARK IT HAS OCCURRED. THIS IMMEDIATELY REDUCES YOUR CARS POWER AND YOU CAN ONLY RUN ABOUT 30 MPH WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS. THIS USED TO START BY SAYING ICE POSSIBLE AND THEN ALL THE ABOVE WOULD BEGIN. NOW AFTER HAVING THE BREAK RECALL COMPLETED THIS IS HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY IT HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 4 RANDOM TIMES IN ONE WEEK. YOU CAN ONLY CLEAR THIS BY SHUTTING OFF YOUR ENGINE AND LETTING IT SET FOR SEVERAL MINUTES. *TR
POWER LOCKS DON'T WORK! THE REMOTE KEY CHAIN BUTTON WILL UNLOCK THE DOORS BUT WILL NOT LOCK THE DOORS. I CAN'T EVEN USE THE POWER LOCKS ON THE DRIVER DOOR TO LOCK THE DOORS ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE TO LEAN OVER TO THE PASSENGER SIDE TO LOCK THE DOORS THEN GET OUT OF THE CAR AND CHECK THE HANDLE TO MAKE SURE MY DOORS ARE LOCKED. THE REMOTE KEY CHAIN WILL NOT LOCK THE DOORS! ALSO, THE TRUNK RELEASE WILL NOT WORK ON THE REMOTE KEY CHAIN OR IN THE CAR. I HAVE TO USE THE KEY TO UNLOCK THE TRUNK... *TR

AS I WAS LEAVING WORK AT NIGHT, I UNLOCKED MY DOORS WITH THE KEY REMOTE AND I WENT TO REACH FOR MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR HANDLE AND COULDN'T OPEN THE DOOR. COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE WIPER SYSTEM WITHOUT ANY WARNING SUCH AS SLIPPAGE SHOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE. I CONTACTED GM ABOUT THE RECALL AND WAS DENIED HELP TO FIX THE PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. I INFORMED THE PERSON I SPOKE WITH THAT MY CAR HAD BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALERSHIP WITH THE SAME ISSUE AS THE RECALL. GM INFORMED ME THAT I COULD PAY TO HAVE THE VEHICLE FIXED OUT OF MY OWN POCKET AND MAYBE GET REIMBURSE AT A LATER TIME. THE MALFUNCTION INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON SOLID AND STAYED ON FOR 3 DAYS ON SEPTEMBER 12TH. THEY PAID TO DIAGNOSE AND FOUND THAT MY 4TH CYLINDER WAS MISSING AND WAS LEAKING 45%. ON SEPTEMBER 17TH, THEY SUGGESTED $140 FOR A CARBON COIL FLUSH TO SEE IF IT COULD POSSIBLE FIX THE PROBLEM. ON SEPTEMBER 25TH THEY DID THE COIL FLUSH AT 10 AM. AT 1:06 I GOT THE MESSAGE THAT ESC ACTIVE. I WENT ON A 2 WEEK VACATION AND DID NOT DRIVE MY CAR. ON OCTOBER 12TH, AT 2:08PM ESC WARNING AND SHUT TRACTION CONTROL OFF. OCTOBER 13TH, AT 5AM THE WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON SOLID. ON OCTOBER 27TH, THEY REPLACE MY INTAKE/EXHAUST VALVE ON THE LEFT SIDE. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY WARNING LIGHTS SINCE THEN, BUT I DROVE FROM AUGUST TO THE END OF OCTOBER WITH THE CAR SHUTTING OFF THE TRACTION CONTROL. AFTER HAVING REPAIRS MADE AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR DRIVERS SEAT HEATER NOT WORKING. THE DRIVER SEAT HEATER ELEMENT WAS REPLACED, I HAD DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY 20 MILES WHEN THE SEAT STARTED SMOKING AND CAUGHT FIRE. BY THE TIME I GOT THE CAR STOPPED AND PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD THE INSIDE OF THE CAR WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE AND THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS COMPLETELY ON FIRE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON OUT OF NOWHERE, AND WHEN WE TOOK IT TO OUR DEALERSHIP THEY SAID THAT THIS SOMETIMES HAPPENS WITH THE MALIBUS. THEY ADVISED US THAT THE "AIRBAG CONTROL SYSTEM" HAD DIED AND THOUGH THE CAR WAS STILL DRIVABLE THAT IN THE EVENT OF A COLLISION THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT WORK. THE SERVICE TO REPLACE THE "BRAIN" WOULD COST $1000 PARTS AND LABOR. AFTER THROWING A SMALL FIT THEY "GOT WITH THE CHEVY CUSTOMER TEAM" AND WERE ABLE TO DO IT FOR JUST COST OF PARTS ($400 +/-). WE PAID FOR THE SERVICE, AFTER MUCH COMPLAINING, AND THE CAR HAS BEEN FINE SINCE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AFTER A HARD BRAKING EVENT, THAT THE CONTROL BOX SHORTS OUT. I THINK THAT IF THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE, A RECALL SHOULD BE INITIATED. IT WOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM IF IT WAS SOMETHING INCONSEQUENTIAL, BUT THIS IS A VITAL SAFETY COMPONENT. 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE BODY CONTROL MODULE CONNECTION SYSTEM RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM HIM OF ANY RECALL. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. EACH TIME, HE WENT TO THE DEALER, THEY STATED NOTHING WAS WRONG. ON ONCE OCCASION, IN MARCH 2014, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED ON ITS OWN. THE CONSUMER VOLUNTARILY SURRENDERED THE VEHICLE TO THE BANK. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH, THE ENGINE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE DISPLAYED SHOWED LOW TRACTION, SERVICE ESC, REDUCED POWER ENGINE. AFTER QUICKLY PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE THE CAR BEGAN VIOLENTLY SHAKING AND PRESSING THE GAS PEDAL RESULTED IN NO ENGINE POWER. *TR
