THE NIGHT OF 12/29/2018 ABOUT 10PM AT AN APPROXIMATE SPEED OF 45MPH I EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING MY 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU HOME FROM THE MOUNTAINS AND STEERING BECAME VERY DIFFICULT AND WE ALMOST RAN OFF OF THE ROAD DOWN A STEEP EMBANKMENT. A SERVICE ESC AND POWER STEERING LIGHT WAS ON THE DASH. I RESTARTED THE ENGINE AND THE WARNING LIGHTS WENT OUT AND THE POWER STEERING WORKED AGAIN AND BEING IN A DARK REMOTE AREA WITH NO CELL SERVICE I SLOWLY DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER PROBLEM. I RESEARCHED THE REASON I HAD OVER THE INTERNET AND FOUND GM IS AWARE OF THIS OBVIOUS (POTENTIAL DEADLY) SAFETY ISSUE BUT I'VE OWNED THIS CAR 6 YEARS AND WAS NEVER NOTIFIED ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. A CHECK VIN OF RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE DO NOT SHOW THIS PROBLEM BUT WHEN I CALLED THE CHEVY DEALER WHO TOLD ME THAT THERE IS A "SPECIAL COVERAGE' WHERE GM WILL REPAIR THIS STEERING PROBLEM AT NO COST BUT I WAS TOLD MY CAR DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THIS 'SPECIAL COVERAGE' BECAUSE I HAVE OVER 150,000 MILES ON IT. WHAT?!!!! I HAVE A CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY DEFECT GM IS AWARE OF BUT BECAUSE THE CAR HAS OVER 150,000 MILES ON IT THEY WON'T REPAIR IT. I'M DISABLED WITH DIMINISHED STRENGTH AND I CAN'T DRIVE MY CAR WITHOUT PLACING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE IN DANGER SHOULD THIS HAPPEN AGAIN. GM SHOULD REPAIR MY DANGEROUS CAR AND BE PROACTIVE ENOUGH TO PREVENT AN OBVIOUS VEHICLE SAFETY RISK TO ME AND OTHER DRIVERS.
THE VEHICLE STARTED TO HAVE PROBLEMS IN 2016 AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND OFF RANDOMLY AND WOULD NOT COMPLETELY STAY ON TO DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE CORRECTLY AND WHEN IT WOULD COME ON IT KEPT SAYING IT WAS DIFFERENT SENSORS. AFTER REPLACING SEVERAL SENSORS THAT WERE DIAGNOSED TO BE INCORRECT AND CHANGING SPARK PLUGS AND ALL FILTERS AND FLUSHING SEVERAL PARTS OUT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL NOT RUNNING CORRECTLY. THE VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE AS MUCH POWER AS IT DID IN THE PAST AND SEEMED TO BE SHIFTING DIFFERENTLY. THE CAR PROGRESSIVELY KEPT GETTING WORSE AND LOOSING POWER AND NOT SHIFTING CORRECTLY. I HAD TAKEN IT TO 3 MECHANICS IN THE NASHVILLE AREA AND EACH OF THEM COULD NOT FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM ALSO BUT ALL HAD EXPERIENCE WITH THE ISSUE AND HAD RELAYED THAT THEY BELIEVED IT WAS THE TIMING CHAIN FROM PREVIOUS CLIENTS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES. I THEN TOOK IT TO THE CHEVY DEALER BECAUSE IT HAD GOTTEN TO THE POINT THAT THE VEHICLE SEEMED UNSAFE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT CORRECTLY AND I WOULD BE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT AND WHEN I WENT TO TAKE OFF THE VEHICLE WOULD IDLE UNTIL CATCHING AND IT WOULD SIT THERE IDLING AND ALMOST STALL OUT AND THEN AFTER 60-160 SECONDS THE VEHICLE WOULD FINALLY CATCH AND TAKE OFF. THIS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN TRYING TO GET UP TO SPEED WITH THE REST OF THE TRAFFIC. ANYTIME THE VEHICLE REALLY NEEDED TO SHIFT IT TENDED TO JUST SIT AND IDLE UNTIL THE CHAIN CAUGHT EXACTLY WHERE IT NEEDED TO WHICH IS WHAT CAUSED THE SAFETY ISSUE. THE CHAIN WAS MISSING IN CERTAIN SPOTS SO ONCE IT FINALLY CAUGHT THE CORRECT SPOT IT WOULD TAKE OFF BUT MADE IT DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AS YOU NEVER KNEW HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO CATCH ON AND TAKE OFF OR IF IT WAS GOING TO COMPLETELY BREAK AT SOME POINT AND JUST NOT MOVE AT ALL. THE VEHICLE ALSO DID NOT WANT TO START KEPT ROLLING OVER MULTIPLE TIMES BY THE TIME I WAS ABLE TO GET INTO CHEVY TO FIX IT.
TAKATA RECALL. POWER STEERING AND ESC LIGHT CAME ON WHILE BCAR WAS WARMING UP FOR THE FIRST TIME, IT COMES AND GOES AS IT PLEASES SOMETIMES WHILE IN MOTION, SOMETIMES WHILE STATIONARY, AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO TURN OR STEER. IT ALSO MAKES MY CAR FEEL AS IF THE WHEELS ARE ABOUT TO FALL OFF THE FRONT END. MY AIR BAG LIGHT IS ALSO ON AND WON'T GO OFF. GUESSING IT DOESN'T WORK. PULLED SOME CODES BUT NOTHING FOR POWER STEERING, ATTACHED ARE A FEW IMAGES OF A FEW CODES THAT WERE PULLED. NOT ALL CODES.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD, THE CAR WILL JUST STOP MOVING FORWARD ALTHOUGH THE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. WE HAVE TO IMMEDIATELY PULL OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, WHICH IS VERY DIFFICULT TO DO IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. THE INDICATOR LIGHTS FOR POWER STEERING / ESC COME ON AND THE CHIMES RING 3 TIMES. UPON STOPPING THE CAR, IF THE ENGINE REMAINS OFF FOR APPROXIMATELY 5 MINUTES, THEN THE CAR WILL START BACK UP AND RUN NORMALLY FOR UP TO 2 MONTHS BEFORE IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 6 TIMES OVER THE PAST 18 MONTHS. WE HAVE HAD THE CAR TO THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER IN ST. LOUIS 4 TIMES BUT THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE SOURCE OF THE PROBLEM. THEY HAVE REPLACED A NUMBER OF PARTS RELATED TO THE POWER STEERING BUT THIS HAS PROVEN TO BE INEFFECTIVE. WE ALSO REPLACED THE BATTERY AND CLEANED THE CABLES WITH NO RESULTS. THIS IS A REAL SAFETY ISSUE AND THE MECHANICS AT THE DEALER HAVE NO IDEA HOW TO FIX IT. WE CANNOT BELIEVE OUR 2011 MALIBU IS THE ONLY CAR WITH THIS PROBLEM.
2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU , A CONTINUING PROBLEM WITH THE LOW BEAM HEAD LIGHTS GOING OUT AFTER REPLACING THEM SEVERAL TIMES. JUST REPLACED THEM AGAIN ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO ( BOTH HEAD LIGHTS ) AND THEY ARE OUT AGAIN. THIS IS A PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THE DESIGN. YOU HAVE TO TAKE THE BUMPER AND BOTH FENDERS OFF JUST TO GET TO THE HEAD LIGHTS. CHECKED ON-LINE AND IT APPEARS THAT NUMEROUS OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUES. THIS OBVIOUSLY IS A PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE DRIVING AT NIGHT LONG DISTANCE AND YOU HAVE ANOTHER ISSUE AFTER REPLACING THEM ALREADY.
THE FUSE FOR MY REAR DEFROSTER GOT SO HOT IN THE FUSE BOX IT MELTED THE PANEL-THE FUSE BOX IS IN THE TRUNK-I TOOK TO DEALER AND THEY WANT OVER 500.00 TO REPAIR- I FEEL LIKE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND HAZARD FOR DRIVERS AS IT COULD HAVE CAUGHT FIRE IF IT WAS THAT HOT- I DO NOT FEEL LIKE THIS IS MY FAULT AND MORE A MANUFACTURE ISSUE-IF I DON'T GET THIS FIXED I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER CHEVY AGAIN AND I AM LOOKING TO PURCHASE A CAR WITHIN THE END OF THIS YEAR. WHY TRY AND MAKE DRIVERS PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT IS MANUFACTURE? SHADY BUSINESS! ALSO NOW MY RADIO DISPLAY IS GOING IN AND OUT-THINKING MAYBE ANOTHER FUSE ISSUE OR ELECTRICAL.
UPON STARTING VEHICLE, "POWER STEERING" YELLOW CAUTION LIGHT AND THE "SERVICE ESC" LIGHT ILLUMINATE. SOMETIMES ON RESTARTING VEHICLE THEY DO NOT COME BACK ON, WHEREAS AT OTHER TIMES THEY REMAIN ON.
"TAKATA RECALL".... WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE MAKING A LEFT TURN I HEARD A LOUD NOISE, POSITION GOT UNCOMFORTABLE HAVE TO SIT VERY VERY LOW WHILE DRIVING AND SOMETIMES SEAT KIND OF LIFT UP WHEN MOVING. BROUGHT TO DEALERSHIP AND TELLS ME MY SEAT IS BROKE AND IT REQUIRES A NEW ASSEMBLY. HOW DOES A SEAT JUST BREAK? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! TOO EXPENSIVE TO FIX SO DRIVING UNSAFE IS NOT GOOD AT ALL.
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT (LOW BEAM) KEEPS GOING OUT. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO GET TO AND EXPENSIVE TO GET SOMEONE ELSE TO FIX IT. IT COMES BACK ON SOMETIMES WHEN I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD THEN GOES OUT AGAIN A DAY OR SO LATER. THE LAST ONE I REPLACED WAS I WON'T PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE WITHOUT FINDING OUT FIRST IF THE MINOR MAINTENANCE CAN BE DONE ON MY OWN.
MY AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR THE PAST COUPLE OF MONTH. THERE ARE RECALLS ON 2011 MALIBU'S FOR AIRBAG BUT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL, HOWEVER THE SENSOR LIGHT HAS BEEN ON
I PURCHASED THIS CAR ON 11/30/2018 AND NOTICED NOW THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE SEAT BELTS. MY CAR BELTS HAVE NOT BEEN REPLACED.
WHILE NORMAL DRIVING. CAR WILL GIVE THE FOLLOWING ERROR CODES: "SERVICE ESC" "SERVICE TRACTION" "ESC OFF" AND "ENGINE PWR REDUCED" BACK TO BACK. THE CAR WILL POWER ITSELF DOWN UNTIL ~10 MPH WHILE MAKING A RATTLING NOISE. THE CAR WILL START AND ACT AS IF EVERYTHING IS FINE ONCE I PULL OVER AND FULLY SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY POINT, DRIVING HIGHWAY OR NEIGHBORHOOD SPEEDS, WHILE TURNING AND EVEN WHEN IDLE.
I HAVE HAD MY FRONT BRAKES SERVICED 4 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 YEARS. THEY CONTINUALLY NEED TO BE SERVICED AND THE CAR ISN'T EVEN AT 100,000 MILES YET. EVERY 6 MONTHS TO ONE YEAR, THE CAR BEGINS TO CHUG WHEN BRAKING AND SHAKING CONTINUOUSLY. THE FRONT ROTORS AND PADS ARE WHAT IS FIXED MOST OFTEN.
MY BREAK LIGHTS LIGHT UP WHEN I AM NOT PUSHING ON THE BREAK PEDAL AND TRACTION CONTROL TURNS OFF WHEN I AM IN MOTION. ONLY HAPPENS SOMETIMES.
TIMING CHAIN AND ENGINE MALFUNCTION. REVIEWED THE INTERNET AND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS REGARDING THE SAME THING. THE 2.4 ECOTECH ENGINE WAS IN A CLASS ACTION SUIT FOR EQUINOXS BUT NOT MALIBUS AND THEY HAVE THE SAME ISSUE.
SERVICE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. PLAN ON TAKING TO DEALER THIS WEEK TO HAVE IT CHECKED.
SINCE OF BOUGHT THE CAR FROM DEALER THE ESC LIGHT HAS BEEN ON AND IN THE WINTER MONTHS IF I GET STUCK I CAN'T SHUT OFF TRACTION CONTROL TO TRY AND GET OUT BECAUSE IT IS DISABLED. HAS POWER REDUCED
THE PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM IS MALFUNCTIONING. THE BULB HAS BEEN REPLACED SEVERAL TIMES AND KEEPS GOING OUT. UPON RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM IT APPEARS TO BE A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR THE COUNTLESS OWNER/OPERATORS AND PASSENGERS INVOLVED.
I BROUGHT THIS VEHICLE THREE YEARS AGO FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER WITH 60,000 MILES KEPT UP WITH ALL THE MAINTENANCE ETC. AND TODAY THE VEHICLE LEFT ME STRANDED A FEW BLOCKS FROM MY HOUSE . I CURRENTLY HAVE A NO START NO CRANKING ISSUE ALL THE DIAGNOSTIC FROM FUSES, RELAYS , FUEL PRESSURE, IGNITION SWITCH, BATTERY, ETC WHERE DONE LEADING US TOO BELIEVE ITS A BCM ISSUES AS TOO SEEING THAT MANY OTHER CHEVY MALIBU AND OTHER GM PRODUCTS ARE EXPERIENCING THESE SAME ISSUES
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE SOMETIMES THE POWER STEERING AND SERVICE ESC MESSAGE WILL FLASH ON THE DASHBOARD AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BE LOCKED AND CANNOT BE TURNED. WHEN RESTARTING THE VEHICLE THE MESSAGE MAY BE GONE AND THE STEERING WHEEL WILL MOVE AGAIN OR OTHER TIMES IT WILL STILL BE LOCKED AND THE MESSAGE PERSISTS. ALSO WHEN DRIVING AND SITTING IN IDLE THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS AND VIBRATES ON ITS OWN AND MAKES A WEIRD RATTLING/RUBBING SOUND, ESP. WHEN IN PARK. I HAD THIS SAME ISSUE LAST YEAR AND MY LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP "FIXED" IT FOR NO COST SINCE THERE WAS A RECALL PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE, BUT NOW THE SAME PROBLEM IS OCCURRING.
I HAVE HAD TO CHANGE MY PASSENGER LOW BEAM BULB 3 TIMES IN 2 YEARS, DRIVERS SIDE TWICE AND MY DRIVERS SIDE JUST BURNT OUT AFTER TWO MONTHS. AFTER RESEARCHING NUMEROUS FORMS THIS SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM FROM 2008-2012 MALIBUS
I HAVE REPLACED MY DRIVERS SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT 5X THIS YEAR SOMETIMES I CAN BUMP THE HEADLIGHT EVERY NOW AND THEN AND IT WILL TURN ON BUT 90% OF THE TIME IT STAYS OFF
HEADLIGHT BULB BURNED OUT - AND IT IS NOT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE WITHOUT SPECIALIZED TRAINING AND TOOLS. THIS IS A SEVERELY SAFETY ISSUE SINCE MOST PEOPLE DON'T HAVE ACCESS TO A CAR DEALER IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT WHEN A HEADLIGHT GOES OUT. REPLACING THE LAMP REQUIRES REMOVING PARTS OF THE FENDER AND THE ENTIRE BUMPER, AND REQUIRES SOCKET WRENCHES AND MECHANICAL ABILITY BEYOND WHAT THE AVERAGE VEHICLE OWNER WILL HAVE. DRIVING WITH ONE HEADLIGHT BECAUSE GM COULDN'T FIGURE OUT HOW TO MAKE IT POSSIBLE TO REPLACE THE HEADLAMP WITHOUT TOOLS IS DANGEROUS.
PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM LIGHT HAS BURNT OUT 4 TIMES IN 2 YEARS. I REPLACED IT WITH REGULAR LIGHTS THE FIRST 3 TIMES AND THE LAST TIME USED LED LIGHTS AND STILL BURNT OUT IN 8 MONTHS.
ON 10/17/18 I WAS JUST ABOUT TO PULL ONTO THE SUBURBAN SIDE STREET THAT I LIVE ON, GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MP, WHEN I SUDDENLY HEARD A VERY LOUD "CLUNK" OR "SNAP" AND IMMEDIATELY FELT MY DRIVER'S SEAT SHIFT DOWNWARD AND TO THE RIGHT. AFTER COMPLETING MY TURN, I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT MY VEHICLE IN PARK AND NOTICED THAT THE ENTIRE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS "LOOSE." I GOT OUT OF MY VEHICLE AND THE DRIVER'S SEAT WAS TILTED TOWARD THE CENTER CONSOLE, ON A DOWNWARD ANGLE, THE SEAT WAS ROCKING BACK AND FORTH/UP & DOWN WHEN I GENTLY TOUCHED IT. WHAT A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE I WAS JUST DRIVING DOWN A SUBURBAN SIDE STREET AT A LOW SPEED, THEN WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IN AN ACCIDENT? ONE THING I WANT TO POINT OUT IS THAT SHORTLY PRIOR TO MY SEAT BREAKING, I HAD USED MY AUTOMATIC CONTROLS ON THE SIDE OF THE SEAT TO ADJUST MY SEAT SLIGHTLY. I ADJUSTED THE HEIGHT AND TILT OF THE FRAME (NOT THE ANGLE OF THE BACK OF THE SEAT). IT APPEARS THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY INDIVIDUAL WHO HAS HAD THIS EXPERIENCE, THAT IS SCARY! I AM WAITING TO GET AN ESTIMATE FROM THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP I GO TO, AND I AM HOPING IT IS COVERED UNDER MY EXTENDED WARRANTY. MY CAR IS A 2011 MALIBU AND IS JUST UNDER 50,000 MILES. IT IS SERVICED REGULARLY BY THE SAME DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT AT, THERE IS NO REASON WHY THIS SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED!!!!!!! VERY SCARY TO DRIVE WITH A SEAT THAT IS NO LONGER SECURED PROPERLY. IT DOES NOT APPEAR THAT THIS IS BEING ADDRESSED BY CHEVROLET, EITHER AS A RECALL, SAFETY INVESTIGATION, OR ETC. IF THIS HAPPENS TO 1 OR 2 PEOPLE, MAYBE COINCIDENCE, BUT GOOGLE IS FULL OF REVIEWS WITH THIS COMPLAINT. IN FACT, WHEN SEARCHING ON GOOGLE FOR "DRIVER SEAT BROKEN" THE FIRST THING THAT COMES UP IS THIS EXACT ISSUE IN A MALIBU!!! THERE ARE A COUPLE OTHER SEARCH RESULTS ON THE FIRST PAGE THAT ARE THIS EXACT ISSUE IN A MALIBU AS WELL.
WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE EARLY MORNING OF OCTOBER 17TH 2018, MY TIE ROD END SNAPPED IN MY VEHICLE, CAUSING ME TO GO OFF THE COUNTY ROAD INTO A TREE HEAD ON GOING 60 MPH. I ALSO WAS NOT WEARING A SAFETY BELT SO FORTUNATELY I AM STILL HERE TO WRITE THIS. ITS BEEN A ROAD TO RECOVERY AND STILL GOT A WAYS TO GO BUT THIS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE LOOKED INTO SO IT DOES NOT HAPPEN TO ANY ONE ELSE. I UNDERSTAND ACCIDENTS HAPPEN BUT THIS IS PLAYING WITH PEOPLES LIVES IF THIS IS A FLAW WITH THE VEHICLE.
MY LOW BEAM LIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. KEEP GOING OUT AFTER BEING FIXED THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL IT KEEPS RECURRING OVER AND OVER ON MY 2011 CHEVY MALIBU LS. HEADLIGHT BULBS OR IT'S THE SOCKET KEEPS BURNING OUT.
PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON AND GO OUT. REPLACED THE HARNESS AND BULB 5/2018. IT MAY BE ON FOR 1 OR 2 DAYS AND IS OUT AGAIN. ESPECIALLY IF THE ROAD IS BUMPY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH, THE ENGINE SEIZED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO SHEPHERDS CHEVROLET BUICK (1520 E 9TH ST, ROCHESTER, IN 46975, 574-223-2136) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN WAS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT TO CALL NHTSA. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 94,000.
IT IS NOTED THAT THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ON THE 3.3 L FOUR-CYLINDER ENGINES FOR YEARS HAVE A CRACKED EXHAUST MANIFOLD THERE BY LEACHING CARBON MONOXIDE INTO THE CAB INTERIOR OF SAID AUTOMOBILES. PARTS OF CARBON MONOXIDE HAVE BEEN NOTED TO BE 20 TO 30 PPM WHEN READINGS HAVE BEEN DONE
BROKEN PART IN TRANSMISSION THAT CLOGGED THE FILTER. CAR ONLY HAS ABOUT 85,000 MILES AND HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF SINCE THE DAY PURCHASED NEW ON 10/23/2010. CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT QUIT MOVING. WAS STILL RUNNING BUT I WAS STUCK ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD
DRIVER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT CONTINUES TO GO OUT AFTER FREQUENT REPLACEMENT. PIGTAIL CONNECTIONS ARE ALL TIGHT AND PROPERLY ATTACHED.
MY PASSENGER SIDE LOW BEAM HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. I JUST HAD THE BULB CHANGED, AND IT WENT OUT IN A COUPLE OF HOURS. 90% OF ALL CHEVY MALIBU'S USE ON THE ROAD HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT DO WE HAVE TO DO TO GET A RECALL ABOUT THIS. IT'S VERY IRRITATING AND EXPENSIVE!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE HEADLAMP BECAME INOPERABLE. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE HEADLAMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT CHANGED THE BULB TWICE, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,000.
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. I HAVE CHANGED BULBS ON BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE AND THEN LIGHT WENT BACK OUT AT DIFFERENT TIMES ON BOTH SIDES. I THEN NOTICED THAT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AGAIN, AND THIS TIME WHEN I WENT TO CHANGE IT, IT CAME ON WHEN I TOUCHED THE PIGTAIL SO I FIGURED THERE WAS A SHORT SOMEWHERE. WHEN I TOOK THE LIGHTBULB OUT, I NOTICED THE PIGTAIL WAS FRIED, SO I CHANGED THE PIGTAIL AND BULB THIS TIME. A FEW WEEKS GO BY AND THE SAME EXACT THING HAPPENS TO THE OTHER SIDE. I CHANGED THE LIGHT BULB AND PIGTAIL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS CONTINUES TO HAPPEN AND I'VE NOT MENTIONED HOW DIFFICULT IT IS TO CHANGE THE BULB. THE WHOLE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY PRETTY MUCH HAS TO COME OFF. THIS IS NOT EASY TO DO AND IS A PRETTY BAD DESIGN FLAW. SINCE I'VE NOTICED THAT THE LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE PIGTAIL IS SHAKEN, I HAVE TO DISASSEMBLE THE BUMPER JUST TO GET TO THE LIGHT. SOMEONE REALLY NEEDS TO LOOK AT THIS. FINALLY, I MUST ALSO ADD, I HAVE SEEN MORE THAN 10 CHEVY MALIBU'S, NOT SURE OF THE YEAR, BUT IS THE SAME MODEL AS MINE, WITH A HEADLIGHT MISSING. IT MAKES ME WONDER, ARE THESE PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE? DO THESE PEOPLE MAYBE JUST HAVE A HEADLIGHT BLOWN BUT KNOWS THE HEADACHE IT IS TO REMOVE WHOLE FRONT BUMPER ASSEMBLY JUST TO CHANGE HEADLIGHT? HAVE THESE PEOPLE GOTTEN TIRED OF CHANGING THE HEADLIGHT BECAUSE IT KEEPS BLOWING OUT? PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS.
THE AIRBAG COMES ON AND OFF ALL THE TIME. IT'S VERY SCARY. IT COMES ON SOMETIME WHEN I START THE CAR AND SOMETIMES WHILE I'M DRIVING. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I STOP FAST OR MOVE OR TURN. IT'S RANDOM.
MY 2011 MALIBU HAS STARTING ISSUES BUT IF I MESS WITH THE REAR FUSE BOX AND WIGGLE THE WIRES CONNECT TO IT, IT START. IT CUTS OFF VERY OFTEN. WHEN I TOOK IT TO DIFFERENT SHOPS NO ONE CAN FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THERE IS ONE MECHANIC THAT SAYS HE HAS RAN INTO THIS PROBLEM MULTIPLE TIME ESPECIALLY WITH THIS MAKE AND MODEL. I FEEL THERE SHOULD BE SOME TYPE OF RECALL OR EVEN A WARRANTY FOR THIS PROBLEM.
FRONT PASSENGER HEADLIGHT KEEPS GOING OUT. WHILE IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET A WARNING COMES ACROSS THAT SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED. THEN THE ESC AND SERVICE TRACTION CONTROL COMES ON. THE CAR THEN DROPS TO 5 MPH AND STOPS. I TURN IT OFF AND TURN IT BACK ON AND THERE IS NOTHING. I WAIT A FEW SECONDS AND TRY AGAIN AND IT STARTS UP AND I'M ABLE TO DRIVE IT.
BRAKE LIGHTS WITHOUT APPLYING PRESSURE TO BRAKE PEDAL. TURNS OFF TRACTION CONTROL AND ESC.WORSE IN COLDER OR DAMP WEATHER.

I HAD SUN CHEVY RT. 19 MCMURRAY PA REPLACE IT THE FIRST TIME, LAUREL AUTO SERVICE MUNHALL, PA REPLACE IT 2ND TIME IN 12/2017 AND I HAVE REPLACED IT TWICE IN 2018. I PURCHASED BULBS AT ADVANCED AUTO, W. HOMESTEAD, PA. I HAVE COPIES OF INVOICES IF NEEDED FOR DOCUMENTATION. I NOTICED IT WHEN DIVING VEHICLE OR AT NIGHT.THIS JUST HAPPENED AGAIN TODAY ON 8-30-2018. THIS IS A HUGE PROBLEM TO FIX AS YOU HAVE TO TAKE OFF FRONT SHROUD OF CAR EACH TIME TO REPLACE LIGHT BULB.
PASSENAGER SIDE HEADLIGHT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST YEAR. TWICE WITHIN 3 WEEKS. TWICE THE CONNECTOR WAS MELTED FROM OVERHEATING. HAVE ALSO REPLACED DRIVER SIDE TWICE WITHIN THE LAST 3 YEARS. OVERALL HAVE REPLACED THE PASSENGER SIDE 5 TIMES WITHIN THE LAST 2 YEARS. VEHICLE HAS BEEN STATIONARY WITH ALL FINDINGS.
THE POWER STEERING WENT COMPLETELY OUT MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN CAR WAS IN MOTION WHEN IT WENT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO STRESSFULLY GET IT HOME OFF THE MAIN ROAD. A FEW HOURS LATER THE CAR WAS FINE AND THE POWER STEERING WAS BACK ON AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND I WAS NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THESE ISSUES. IF I WAS TRAVELING ANY FASTER THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED A ACCIDENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, THE VEHICLE MADE A POPPING SOUND AND STOPPED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE DECELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH AND THE STEERING LOST POWER. THE VEHICLE WAS COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST PIPE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOUSE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CALLED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 55,661.
WINDSHIELD WIPER TRANSMISSION HAS QUIT 2 TIMES IN 2 1/2 YEARS. THE WIPER ARMS CAN BE MOVED BY HAND WITH NO RESISTANCE. BOTH TIMES IN HEAVY RAIN GOING OVER 55MPH IN THE DARK LEAVING ME WITH NO WAY TO SEE THE ROAD. I HAD TO STOP QUICK TO GET ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. THE FIRST TIME I ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. 1ST TIME WAS 12/3/15 THIS TIME WAS 8/17/18. I HAD IT FIXED A GM DEALER THAT JUST HAPPENED TO BE CLOSE FOR $366 THE FIRST TIME-NOW AGAIN???? THE EQUINOX HAD A RECALL ON THIS I WAS TOLD. ITS CRAZY THE MALIBU WAS NOT INCLUDED.

WHEN I START THE CAR THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT COMES ON ESC COMES UP AND SAYS IT TURNED OFF . TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT I'VE ADD MECHANICS TELL ME IT'S MY COMPUTER BUT THEY DON'T WORK ON MY MAKE OF A CAR. THE CAR MAY START UP OR NOT. I'VE READ OF A RECALL FOR THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM BACK IN 2014 FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. THEY SAID THEY FIXED? AND THIS HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2016 AFTER THEY KEPT IT FOR 90DAYS FOR THE SEAT BELT RECALL.
LOWBEAM CONSTANTLY GOES OUT. AFTER RESTARTING THE COMPUTER THE FUSE HAS FIRE FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS AND THEN GOES OUT AGAIN.
MY PASSENGER LOW BEAM KEEPS GOING OUT. I HAVE GOTTEN IT CHANGED 4 TIMES AND THE LAST 2 MONTHS. NO ONE KNOWS THE PROBLEM AND THE BULBS ARE NO T BURNING OUT IT JUST STOPS WORKING. I HAVE SPOKEN TO A NUMBER OF PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME YEAR BODY AND MAKE THAT HAS BEEN DEALING WITH THE SAME EXACT ISSUE AS ME.
THE STEERING WHEEL MATERIAL IS DETERIORATING CAUSING THE OPERATOR TO LOSE CONTACT WITH THE WHEEL WHILE TURNING THE WHEEL. THE HANDS EITHER SLIP OFF THE WHEEL OR CATCH CAUSING AN ABRUPT STOP WHILE CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN AS THE MATERIAL IS DETERIORATING AT A RATE THAT THE STEERING WHEEL WILL BE DOWN TO THE METAL AND NOT PROVIDE ANY PROTECTION TO THE OPERATOR AND WOULD CAUSE INJURY.
THE CAR HAD A "SHORT" IN THE BLINKER. WHEN TRYING TO LOCATE THE SHORT, THE CAR WENT COMPLETELY OFF. IT APPEARS TO HA E TRIGGERED AN ANTI THEFT DEVICE. IN THIS MODE, YOU CAN DO NOTHING. SO, EVEN IN MY DRIVEWAY, I CAN'T GET THE CAR IN NEUTRAL TO TOW IT. EVERYTHING IS LOCKED DOWN DUE TO A PROBLEM WITH THE BLINKER.
