VEHICLE LOOSES POWER CAUSING THE TRACTION LIGHT TO COME ON, POWER STEERING TO GO OUT, VEHICLE BECOMES HARD TO STEER AND EVENTUALLY GOES DEAD. HAPPENS RANDOMLY.
THE MECHANIC STATES IT MAY BE A CONDITION IN WHICH THE GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE (GCM) MAY NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THE BATTERY WOULDN'T HOLD A CHARGE AND THEN SUDDENLY IT WAS CHARGED AND DRIVING AS NORMAL, THE BATTERY INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON THE ENTIRE TIME. THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT NOW, BUT STATED THERE WAS A RECALL AND THINKS THAT IS WHAT IS WONT WITH MY VEHICLE. ALSO THE STOP/START FEATURE IS NOT WORKING AT ALL ON THE VEHICLE. IT ACTS LIKE IT WILL CUT OFF INTERMITTENTLY.
CAR IS CURRENTLY PARKED AT A MECHANIC BECAUSE I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. IT BEGAN WITH THE RPMS GOING TO 3000-4000 WHEN BARELY PRESSING GAS PEDAL. THE CAR STALLED AFTER PUTTING IT IN REVERSE NEARLY CAUSING ME TO GET HIT, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SO WE TOOK IT DIRECTLY TO OUR MECHANIC. THE CODE FOR A BAD CAM SOLENOID WAS LISTED, AND THAT WAS REPLACED. DROVE IT FOR ABOUT A WEEK, STILL NOTICING ISSUES WITH RPMS, AND WHEN BRAKING, THE RPMS WOULD INCREASE. JUST HAD TO DROP IT BACK OFF AT MECHANIC BECAUSE WHILE GOING 30MPH, THE CAR WHEN TO 4000 RPMS AND THE 'ENGINE OVERSPEED' LIGHT CAME ON THE DASH, AND THE CAR WAS LOSING POWER. AFTER I TURNED THE CAR OFF, AND RESTARTED, THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 2000, AND THE FUEL HAND WENT TO A FULL TANK? THIS IS COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS FOR A CAR WITH 70,000 MILES, AND GM SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. THANKFULLY I'VE NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN A CAR ACCIDENT YET, BUT I'M FEARFUL IF I CONTINUE TO DRIVE THIS CAR, I'LL NOT BE ABLE TO SAY THAT!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED TO RESET THE COMPUTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND SUGGESTED TAKING THE VEHICLE TO DAN CUMMINS CHEVROLET BUICK (1020 M.L.K. JR BLVD, PARIS, KY 40361, 1-(859) 987-4345) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND REPAIR. THE CONTACT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: RQ13003 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
I WOULD BE DRIVING THE CAR AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD COME ON AND THEN GO OFF. THE STEERING WOULD PULL TO THE LEFT. A COUPLE OF TIMES ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WOULD COME ON AND THE CAR WOULD CUT OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING ON THE ROAD.
ON AUD. 24, 2018 WHEN I WAS ON MY WAY TO WORK MY CAR FELT LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO CUT OFF. THEN ALL OF SUDDEN EVERYTHING INSIDE WENT BLANK AND THE CAR STALLED. I PUT IN PARK AND STARTED IT BACK UP. THREE MINUTES LATER IT DID THE SAME THING, I PUT IN PARK AGAIN AND STARTED IT BACK UP. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ON MY WAY HOME THAT AFTERNOON IT DID IT TWICE AGAIN. I SAW WHERE WAS A RECALL IN 2013 BUT MINE MUST HAVE BEEN INCLUDED. ITS VERY SCARY RIDING IN TRAFFIC AND YOUR CALL STALLS AND EVERYTHING JUST SHUTS DOWN ON YOU AND I FEEL IT'S ALSO DANGEROUS. I HAVE READ OTHER COMPLAINTS LIKE THIS AND NEED TO KNOW WHAT AM I SUPPOSE TO DO ABOUT IT. I NEED MY CAR TO GO TO WORK.
AFTER THE BATTERY WENT DEAD FOR THE FIRST TIME ON THE CAR, IT WAS JUMPED AND TAKEN TO DEALER TO REPLACE. THE NEXT DAY THE SERVICE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND TAKEN BACK TO DEALERSHIP. THEY NOW WANT TO CHARGE OVER 1000 TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS DEFECT DUE TO BATTERY WAS JUMPED AND SHORTED MODULE. NOW MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE WORKING AIRBAGS AND THIS PROBLEM IS ALL OVER THE WEB IN DIFFERENT GROUPS AS A REOCCURRING PROBLEM.
MY VEHICLE HAD REPAIRS LAST YEAR 2 TIMES, THE ENGINE WAS REBUILT ALMOST COMPLETELY. THE SUSPENSION WENT OUT, THE ESC AS WELL, ELECTRICAL ISSUES. DRAINING BATTERY CONSTANTLY. THE DASH SHOWED ENGINE RUNNING HOT PULLED OVER LET IT COOL AND IT WOULD NOT RESTART..
TAKATA INFLATORS WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. PULLED OVER AND TURNED CAR OFF. SAT FOR ABOUT 10 MINUTES AND STARTED IT AGAIN, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON. STARTED TO DRIVE BACK TO MY HOUSE AND GOT ONLY 10 FEET BEFORE THE CAR SHUT ITSELF OFF, AND WHEEL LOCKED UP. PUT THE CAR IN PARK, AND TRIED STARTING IT AGAIN, AND IT TURNED OVER BUT SHUT ITSELF OFF AGAIN, WITH NOTICE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED, SERVICE STABILITRAK. WOULD NOT START THE THIRD TIME. THIS IS MY ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION, AND BEING A MOTHER I NEED THIS CAR TO WORK AND TAKE CARE OF MY KIDS. IF CHEVY REALLY CARED ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS, THEY WOULD READ ALL THE COMPLAINTS THAT MANY OF US ARE HAVING ON THE SAME ISSUE AND RECALL OR FIX SOMETHING. I AM SO DISAPPOINTED.
MY BATTERY HAS RANDOMLY BEGAN TO DISCHARGE BY ITSELF AND SOMETIMES THE VEHICLE WONT START. THE CAR TOTALLY SHUT DOWN ON ME WHILE DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND ALMOST CAUSED A MAJOR ACCIDENT. CALLED GM AND MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER AND THE SERVICE MANAGER REFUSED TO HELP ME UNLESS I PAID FOR A DIAGNOSTIC ALTHOUGH I ALMOST LOST MY LIFE TO A KNOWN OPEN RECALL ALL BECAUSE MY VIN NUMBER WASNT ON THE LIST. THIS IS HORRIBLE. IF I DIE DUE TO THIS GM NEEDS TO PAY..
THE DASHBOARD COMPLETELY WENT OUT NO GAUGES WORK, NO FUSES ARE BLOWN AND DEALERSHIP DOESN'T KNOW WHY
I SWERVED AND HIT BRAKS HARD TO MISS DEER WENT ON TO SHOULDER OF ROAD I WAS THE ONLY PERSON IN MY CAR AND BOTH CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPOLYED - MY CAR IS BEING DEEMED TOTALED BECAUSE OF THE EXSTENSIVE AIRBAG DAMAGE TO INSIDE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STOPPED MOVING AND WAS UNABLE TO CHANGE GEARS TO MOVE OFF THE ROADWAY. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO GO TO THE LOCATION AND SERVICED THE VEHICLE BY REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR ASSEMBLY; HOWEVER, THE FAILURES CONTINUED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STABILITY CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR FLASHED, VARIOUS OTHER WARNING INDICATORS AND GAUGES FLICKERED, AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME INOPERABLE. ONCE THE WARNING INDICATORS HAD GONE OFF, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO MANEUVER THE STEERING WHEEL IN EITHER DIRECTION; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE WAS GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE KEY WAS UNABLE TO BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. THE DEALER (VADEN OF BEAUFORT, 103 ROBERT SMALLS PKWY, BEAUFORT, SC 29906, (843) 525-4100) WAS CONTACTED TO SCHEDULE AN DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 140,000.
BATTERY RECHARGE SYSTEM DRAINING BATTERY WHEN CAR IS IN IDOL AND OR CONNECTED TO A CELLULAR DEVICE OR WHEN PASSENGER IS SITTING IN PASSENGER SEAT BATTERY DEPLETES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE CHECK ENGINE SENSOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE WOULD SOMETIMES SHUT OFF WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TOWED TO CAP CITY CHEVROLET (5250 E. MAIN ST, WHITE HALL, OH), BUT NO FAILURE COULD BE FOUND. AFTER THE CONTACT RETRIEVED THE VEHICLE, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
CAMSHAFT ACTUATOR SOLENOID WAS REPLACED UNDER SPECIAL WARRANTY. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AFTER THIS WAS REPLACED. WAS TOLD IT WAS NOW THE INTAKE SOLENOID. THIS ALSO SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER THE SAME WARRANTY. WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST 258.00 TO REPLACE.
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED MULTIPLE TIMES FOR THE ISSUE OF ATALLING OUT WHILE DRIVING. SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE BEEN DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH TOTAL ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE ELECTRICAL POWER WILL CUT OUT AFFECTING MY BREAKS, POWER STEERING, GAUGES, AND ENGINE. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED OVER MULTIPLE OCCASIONS.
ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ON, CAR SHUTS DOWN WHILE DRIVING. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED ONE TIME AND IN LESS THAN 6 MONTHS IT'S HAPPENING AGAIN
WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION, RADIO AND OTHER ELECTRICS GO BLANK, STEERING WHEEL FEELS LOCKED UP BUT I ASSUME IT HAS LOST POWER STEERING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES. IT CORRECTS ITSELF IN FEW SECONDS BUT ONCE NEARLY SWERVED INTO A CAR AS THE WHEEL WOULD NOT TURN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, IT FAILED TO START. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, ALL THE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO COAST THE VEHICLE TO A PARKING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART AN HOUR LATER AND WAS DRIVEN TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED WALLACE CHEVROLET AT (888) 350-8421 (LOCATED AT 3575 SE FEDERAL HWY, STUART, FL 34994) AND WAS INFORMED TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 55 TO 60 MPH, THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND CAUSED THE BATTERY TO ENGAGE INTO DISCHARGE MODE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V173000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 144,000.
DRIVING ONE EVENING ON HIGHWAY. GETTING OFF EXIT RAMP THAT CURVES INTO ANOTHER HIGHWAY. CAR LOOSE POWER STEERING WHILE IN CURVE. SCARED THE LIFE OUT OF ME. CAR LOOSES STEERING AGAIN A MILE DOWN ROAD WHILE IN A TURN GETTING OFF HIGHWAY.
I RECENTLY PAID MY VEHICLE OFF AND I AM EXPERIENCING SEVERAL ELECTRICAL ISSUES. THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WENT OUT AND "SERVICE EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT IS ON". THERE'S NO CONNECTION. WHEN I HIT A POTHOLE IN THE ROAD WHILE DRIVING, MY RADIO SCREEN BLACKS OUT. THEN I CAN HIT ANOTHER BUMP AND IT COMES BACK ON. WHEN I PARK, MY IGNITION DOES NOT RELEASE MY KEY. I HAVE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL SEVERAL TIMES AND PUT IT IN DRIVE THEN BACK IN PARK SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE KEY TO RELEASE. AFTER DOING THIS SEVERAL TIMES MY KEY BROKE OFF IN THE IGNITION AND I WAS STRANDED AND HAD TO WALK HOME OVER TWO MILES. HAS ANYONE ELSE COMPLAINED OF THESE ISSUES WITH THE 2013 MALIBU? I COULDN'T PASS MY RECENT SAFETY INSPECTION DUE TO THE BRAKE ISSUE AND I WAS INCONVENIENCED AGAIN AS A RESULT OF THESE ISSUES.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE MY CAR FOR LESS THAN 6 MONTH DASHBOARD IS DEAD IT JUMPS ON AND OFF FROM TIME TO TIME , SERVICES LIGHTS ARE COMING ON , MY STEERLING WHEEL IS PULLING TO THE RIGHT I CAN'T LET IT GO WITH IT PULLING AND ALMOST CAUSING A WRECK ON THE ROAD
WHILE DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE COVER OF THE SUNGLASS HOLDER SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN, COVERING THE REAR-VIEW MIRROR. A HOLDER FOR THE COVER HAD BROKEN, AND THE COVER COULD NOT BE HELD CLOSED. EVEN TAPING THE COVER SHUT DOESN'T WORK, AS THE TAPE RELEASES UNEXPECTEDLY, BLOCKING THE VIEW TO THE REAR.
I OWN 2013 CHEVY MALIBU WITH 98K MILES ON THE CAR. MY CAR STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS AND MY RADIO GOES OFF AND BLACK, EVERYTHING THAT IS CONNECTED TO MY CAR DISCONNECTS, LF I'M ABOUT TO STOP MY CAR LOOSES CONTROL OVER STEERING, THEN POWER COMES BACK AND I GAIN CONTROL. I CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD ME TO TAKE IT TO THE DEALER AND DEALERSHIP SAID THAT MY CAR ISN'T UNDER WARRANTY - EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE BEEN CONTACTED BY GM AND GIVEN SPECIFIC THING AND CODE TO LOOK AT. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT MY CAR'S PROBLEM IS LOW-VOLTAGE AND TO BUY NEW BATTERY OR REPLACE BATTERIES RELATED PART (NOT SURE). TODAY, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MERGING ON ANOTHER HIGHWAY AND I LOST CONTROL OVER THE STEERING WHILE TRYING TO MERGE (THIS WAS HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE FOR ME AND MY FRIENDS WHO WERE WITH ME ON THE CAR). I CALLED GM AGAIN AND TOLD THEM THAT THEY NEED TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS FAULT. AFTER CAREFUL DRIVE ON LOCAL STREET - THE CAR WENT OFF WHILE DRIVING AND MY AC MEASURE BECOME CELSIUS INSTEAD OF FAHRENHEIT. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR ON PARKING MODE AND USE THE KEYS AGAIN! THIS WAS HORRIBLE ORDEAL AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BY GM AND CHEVY.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS MY CAR ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CUT COMPLETELY OFF WHILE ENGINE IS STILL RUNNING. IT JERKS THE CAR TO LEFT OR RIGHT AND THEN CUTS BACK MLM ON. CAN'T STEER UNTIL THE POWER COMES BACK ON IF I'M DRIVING OR PARKED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS COMES ON THEN MESSAGE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED. HAVE BEEN IN SERVICE SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON AND STILL CANT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND AFRAID I WILL GET IN AN ACCIDENT SOON. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS.
WHILE DRIVING AND MOVING OR USING STEERING DRIVE CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS DOWN. I ALMOST HAD 2 ACCIDENTS BECAUSE OF THIS. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY SUDDENLY THE CAR WHILE DRIVING SHUTS DOWN, STEREO GOES OFF AND DRIVING STEERING WHEEL GOES HARD I CANT USE IT. WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR TRYING TO PARK IT IT SHUTS DOWN AND KEYS GET LOCKED OR STUCK, UNABLE TO REMOVE KEYS. WHILE DRIVING SOMETIMES IF YOU TURN ON HIGHLIGHTS IT SHUTS DOWN THE CAR. THIS IS VERY UNSAFE, REALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH GENERAL MOTORS AND CHEVROLET. I ALMOST CRASH WITH OTHER CAR BECAUSE OF THIS. IT REALLY IS A FABRIC ISSUE, THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF CASES AND COMPLAINTS DEMONSTRATING THAT THIS IS A ERROR THAT GM OR CHEVROLET NEEDS TO FIX FOR THE SAFETY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS.

PIERCE (4200 SOUTH US HIGHWAY 1, FORT PIERCE, FL 34982, (772) 461-4800) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 188,000. *TT THE RECALL WAS FOR GCM GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE. UPDATED 9/26/18*JB

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CARMAX (2070 STAFFORD WAY, NEWARK, DE 19711, (302) 737-7809) WHERE THE FLYWHEEL WAS REPLACED. THE DIAGNOSIS INFORMATION WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE REPAIR WAS NOT A PERMANENT REMEDY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE THE BEGINNING OF THIS YEAR IT FIRST STARTED WITH CAMSHAFT AND SOLENOID SWITCH TO HAVING TO REPAIR THE TIMING CHANGE AFTER THAT WAS REPAIRED I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR SHUTTING COMPLETELY DOWN LOCKING MY KEYS IN THE IGNITION I WAS TOLD BY STEVE RAYMOND CHEVROLET TO HAVE THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR CHECK HAD THAT DONE EVERYTHING COME BACK OKAY THEN I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO CHANGE THE BATTERY IN MY KEY CHAIN DID THAT I WAS STILL HAVING PROBLEMS MY MAIN BATTERY WOULD LOSE VOLTAGE FLUCTUATE UP AND DOWN IF THE BATTERY VOLTAGE GET TO LOW THAT IS WHEN THE WHOLE CAR SHUTS DOWN THEN FINALLY AFTER ALL THAT I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN THAT MY GENERATOR CONTROL MODULE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY I HAVE CONTACT GM AND REPORTED IT TO THEM THEY ARE TELLING ME MY VIN IS NOT THE ONE WITH THE RECALL MY CAR HAS THE EASSIST INSTALLED IN MY ECO I ASKED THEM TO SEND ME A LISTING OF THE CHEVROLET MALIBU ECO 2013 I WAS TOLD THEY DIDN'T HAVE A LIST I GOT ON NHTSA WEBSITE AND THERE WAS A RECALL ALONG WITH ALOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS GCM IT ALSO STATED THAT THESE CARS WAS NOT TO BE SOLD ULESS THESE VEHICLES WERE REPAIRED WITH NEW GCM INSTALLED IN THEM MY PART NUMBER IS ALSO LISTED WHICH IS 24269448 I ALSO FOUND PAPERWORK FROM GM ABOUT THIS MATTER I NEED FOR THEM TO STEP UP AND REPAIR MY VEHICLE WHEN I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE BACK ON 08/07/2014 I WAS NEVER TOLD THAT I HAD A HYBRID VEHICLE OR IF THERE WAS ANYTHING WRONG WITH THIS CAR.ALSO WHEN IT FIRST STARTED I WAS TOLD IT WAS MY SENSOR IN MY BACK UP CAMERA WAS NOT WORKING BECAUSE I FIRST HAD LOST POWER TO MY RADIO, BACKUP CAMERA, AND AC I WAS BEING TOLD ALL KINDS OF THINGS.
THE BRAKE PEDAL IS STICKING AND WILL NOT FULLY RELEASE. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS AND THE BRAKE LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AFTER THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. I ONLY HAVE 35600 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER CAN'T FIND THE ISSUE BUT SUGGESTS THE BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED BUT WILL NOT GUARANTEE IT WILL FIX THE ISSUE.

WHILE DRIVING (ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS) ON CITY STREETS MY CAR EXPERIENCES MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC FAILURES INCLUDING.. FLICKERING DISPLAY SCREEN, LOSS OF MY LINK RADIO SYSTEM, SHUT DOWN OF POWER STEERING, AND WARNING DISPLAYS OF NEED TO SERVICE STABILITY SYSTEM. WHEN IT FIRST OCCURED I WAS TURNING RIGHT IN A CITY INTERSECTION LOSS OF POWER STEERING LED THE WHEEL TO LOCK AND THIS LACK OF CONTROL ALMOST FORCED ME INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE, I WAS FORCED TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTIONS AND RESTART THE CAR TO REGAIN CONTROL. IT CONTINUES TO DISPLAY THIS ISSUE UNTIL I MADE IT TO THE MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC ALSO DROVE THE VEHICLE AND LOGGED SIMILIAR EXPERIENCES. AFTER THE ISSUE WAS THOUGHT TO BE A LOOSE GROUND IN THE CAR THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE RESOLVED.I EMAILED CHEVY MULTIPLE TIMES ABOUT MY CONCERNS WONDERING IF THIS WAS A NOTED PROBLEM FOR MY CAR, I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL THEY WOULD DO NOTHING FOR ME. SINCE IT SEEMED TO BE OKAY I LET IT GO AND CONTINUED. A COUPLE DAYS LATER WHILE DRIVING THE CAR EXPERIENCED ANOTHER REOCCURRENCE OF THE INCIDENT WHILE DRIVING THIS TIME ONLY LOSS OF RADIO AND OTHER DISPLAYS. I AGAIN EMAILED CHEVY AND TOOK MY CAR TO THE SHOP. I STARTED GOOGLING TO FIND ANSWERS WHERE I FOUND MULTIPLE FORUMS WITH 100S OF SIMILAR EXAMPLES AND CHEVY VIA EMAIL STILL CONTINUES TO DENY ISSUES WITH THE MANUFACTURERING OF THE CAR. AFTER 10 DAYS IN THE SHOP, HOUNDING CHEVY FOR ANSWERS I WAS ABLE TO RECEIVE WORD OF A MEMO FROM A LOCAL CHEVY MECHANIC THAT STATED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR MY MODEL/YEAR AND LISTED POTENTIAL FIXES. WHEN I INFORMED CHEVY OF MY ANGER TOWARDS THE MEMO BEING KEPT FROM ME THEY REPLIED THAT I WASN'T ALLOWED TO HAVE THE INFORMATION SINCE I WASN'T A CHEVY MECHANIC. THE ISSUE HAS NOW OCCURED AGAIN ALMOST RESULTING IN ANOTHER ACCIDENT AND MY CAR LOST POWER COMPLETELY. I HAVE OWNED THIS CAR FOR 3 MONTHS.
THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT FIRST FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE. WHEN WE GOT IN TO LEAVE, IT WAS SLOW STARTING. WE PULLED OUT & NOTICED THE POWER STEERING WAS A LITTLE STIFFER THAN NORMAL. WE DROVE ABOUT 5 MILES TO OUR DESTINATION & THE CAR STALLED COMPLETELY, ALL POWER WAS LOST, INCLUDING OUR DOORS BEING STUCK LOCKED & OUR IGNITION WAS STUCK IN THE IGNITION, IT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE STEERED OR ANYTHING. NOTHING WORKED. LUCKILY OUR WINDOWS WERE DOWN AS THE HEAT WAS NEARING 100 DEGREES, IT WAS HOT. THE CAR WAS CARRYING MYSELF, MY HUSBAND, & OUR 2 GIRLS, AGES 8 & 11. MY DAUGHTER HAD TO CLIMB BEHIND THE SEAT TO RELEASE THE EMERGENCY TRUNK LATCH TO OPEN IT. OUR DOORS EVENTUALLY LET US UNLOCK THEM. UPON GETTING A JUMP START BECAUSE WE COULD NOT EVEN GET OUR MENUS UP, IT WEAKLY STARTED BUT IMMEDIATELY DIED AS SOON AS IT WAS DISCONNECTED. WE TRIED TO GET THE JUMP START MENU TO WORK BUT IT SAID IT WAS DISABLED. WE HAD TO WALK THE REST OF THE WAY INTO OUR DESTINATION, OUR VEHICLE WAS FORCED TO BE LEFT ALONG THE ROAD, PARTIALLY IN THE ROAD SINCE WE COULD NOT STEER IT OVER, WITH THE WINDOWS DOWN & KEY IN THE IGNITION SINCE IT WOULD NOT COME OUT. WE HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED AN HOUR BACK TO OUR HOME. MY HUSBAND HAD TO WALK THE 5 MILES TO GET HIS TRUCK. WE HAD TO HAVE FAMILY DRIVE THE HOUR LONG TREK TO GIVE US A RIDE AS WE CANNOT ALL FIT IN OUR TRUCK. THIS WHOLE SCENE WAS AN ABSOLUTELY STRESSFUL MESS!
MY 2013 CHEVROLET MALIBU LOST POWER AND SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING ON FIVE DIFFERENT OCCASIONS TO DATE. THE FIRST TWO TIMES I HAD COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THE KEY COULD NOT BE REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION. I HAD TO WAIT FOR 10 TO 30 MINUTES BEFORE THE POWER RETURNED AND COULD REMOVE THE KEY OR RESTART THE VEHICLE. ON THE THIRD OCCASION, I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE RADIO AND AIR CONDITIONING LOST POWER AND THE CAR WAS THREATENING TO SHUT OFF BUT REGAINED POWER. THE STEERING WHEEL BRIEFLY LOCKED UP DURING THIS EVENT. I LATER TURNED OFF ON THE NEAREST EXIT MAKING A COMPLETE STOP AT THE LIGHT AND THE VEHICLE LOST COMPLETE POWER AND SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC.THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP, THE RADIO AND ALL LIGHTS WENT BLACK AND THE AIR SHUT OFF FOR A FEW SECONDS AND THEN CAME BACK ON. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND WAS THEN ABLE TO RESTART IT. THE SAME THING HAPPENED ON A RESIDENTIAL STREET WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC WHILE SLOWING FOR A STOP LIGHT.THE NEXT INCIDENT WAS IN A PARKING LOT WHILE TRYING TO BACK OUT WITH THE CAR STILL IN DRIVE. THERE WERE ALSO A FEW TIMES WHERE THE RADIO WENT BLACK AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP BRIEFLY WHILE MAKING A TURN BUT DID NOT LOOSE POWER. MY DAILY COMMUTE TO WORK REQUIRES ME TO TAKE THE HIGHWAY. I AM TERRIFIED OF WHAT MAY HAPPEN AFTER THE MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY WHEN I AM TO RETURN TO WORK AND TRAVEL THE HIGHWAY AGAIN.

WHEN AN EVENT OCCURS THE DRIVER LOOSES POWER STEERING FOR A BRIEF PERIOD OF TIME. THIS HAS HAPPENED WHILE MAKING LEFT HAND TURNS, ON THE HIGHWAY, AND WHILE STOPPED. GM RELEASED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN TO CHECK GROUND POINTS ON THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM AND THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE RELEASED PRODUCTION LEVEL SOFTWARE FOR NUMBEROUS TIER ONE SUPPLIERS THAT HAVE GONE INTO A VARIETY OF ECUS. TO ME IT SEEMS LIKE ALL OF THE BODY CONTROL MODULES HAVE LOST POWER. WHEN CHECKING CAR COMPLAINTS THIS SAME BEHAVIOR HAS BEEN STATED IN OVER 40 REPORTS AND ALL REPORTS STATE GM WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE.
