FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES FOR THE SAME ISSUE. ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE CAR WHILE TRAVELING BOTH ON THE HIGHWAY AND IN THE CITY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ONE AND IT GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. ON THE HIGHWAY THIS CAN BE A HUGE ISSUE. AFTER MULTIPLE 'FIXES' IT'S SEEMS TO BE OK. HOWEVER ON 10/3/2019 WHILE SITTING AT A RED LIGHT THE AUTO STOP FEATURE KICKED ON. NOTHING NEW THERE HOWEVER WHEN I TOOK MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR COMPLETELY STALLED AND THE DOORS ALL UNLOCKED. AFTER ABOUT 10 SECONDS IT STARTED BACK UP AGAIN. NOW THE AUTO STOP DOESN'T KICK ON AT ALL AND THE CAR WILL NOT LET ME USE AUXILIARY POWER. THE CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND SHOULDN'T HAVE THIS MANY ISSUES. WHEN I TAKE IT TO THE DEALER THEY PUT IT ON THE COMPUTER AND SAY NOTHING IS WRONG. WHAT IS IT GOING TO TAKE FOR GM TO FIX THIS ISSUE IN THESE MALIBU'S? IS SOMEONE GOING TO HAVE TO BE INJURED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH, THE REDUCE POWER IN THE ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE VEHICLE GRADUALLY BEGAN TO LOSE POWER. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT TRAVEL OVER 60 MPH. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT. WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE BRAKES FAILED TO RESPOND IN A TIMELY MATTER. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ALL AMERICAN CHEVROLET OF KILLEEN (1802 E CENTRAL TEXAS EXPY, KILLEEN, TX 76541, 254-213-5397) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND VACUUM PUMP WERE DEFECTIVE AND THE BATTERY WAS OVERCHARGED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 16V521000 (HYBRID PROPULSION SYSTEM) AND 16V272000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL). THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT DUE TO THE BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY, A RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE REMAINED IN THE POSSESSION OF THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,493.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE STARTED TO DECELERATE. THE CONTACT COASTED THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROADWAY, TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON WHICH RESUME BACK TO NORMAL OPERATION. THE CONTACT ASLO MENTIONED THAT WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND JERKED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FRIENDLY CHEVROLET (7501 HIGHWAY 65 NE, FRIDLEY, MN 55432) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VACUUM PUMP AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE VACUUM PUMP WAS NOT. THE FAILURE RECURRED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT SUBJECTED TO A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WADE AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO WHITE ALLEN CHEVROLET (442 N MAIN ST, DAYTON, OH 45405, (937) 303-5147) TO BE DIAGNOSED, BUT THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.

AS I WAS DRIVING FROM THE VA HOSPITAL IN NEW ORLEANS COMING DOWN THE HIGH RISE BRIDGE IN DEAD TRAFFIC THE CAR CUT OFF THE BREAKS GOT STIFF IT WOULDNT START BACK UP THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED LIGHT CAME ON THE STEARING COULDNT BE CONTROLLED I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO DIE ROLLING OUT OF CONTROL DOWN THE BRIDGE THANK GOD POEOPLE MOVED OUT THE WAY IT COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD I STRUGGLED TO TURN THE STEARING WHEEL SO I WOULDNT GO OF THE SIDE OF THE BRIDGE AND I FINALLY ROLLED ALL THE WAY DOWN THE BRIDGE AND GOT ON THE SIDE I SAT FOR ALITTLE TRIED TO START IT THE BRAKES WAS SO STIFF THAT IT WOULDNT START AT FIRST THEN I PUSHED HARD AND IT STARTED BUT THE BREAKS DIDNT WORK AND IT WOULD ONLY GO 20 TO 30 MILES AN HOUR EVERY TIME I HIT THE BREAKS THE CAR WOULD TURN OFF I FEARED FOR MY LIFE BECAUSE I HAD TWO MORE BRIDGES TO GO OVER UNTIL I GOT HOME AND BEEN SITTING AT HOME NO TRANSPERTATION CALLED CHEVY MATT BOWERS AND THEY TOLD ME I HAD TO PAY TO HAVE IT TOWED PLUS PAY 135.00 DOLLARS AN HOUR FOR THEM TO JUST LOOK AT IM A DISABLED VETERAN I BOUGHT THIS BRAND NEW CAR THINKING IT WAS LIABLE TRANSPERTATION TO GET ME BACK AND FORTH TO MY DOCTORS I BOUGHT THIS CXAR BRAND NEW IN 2016 AND HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT IM NOT A HEALTHY MAN AND I DEPEND ON THIS TO GET ME TO MY DOCTORS I GET ALITTLE MONEY AND DIDNT BUY THIS CAR SO IT COULD BREAK DOWN THIS EARLY IN TIME I TRUSTED THEM WITH MY LIFE AND THEY TOLD ME I WOULDNT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS GETTING TO MY DOCTORS AT THE VETERANS HOSPITAL IN NEW ORLEANS.
BROUGHT THE CAR AUGUST 2019. BEGAN HAVING PROBLEMS THE NEXT MONTH. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. MY ENGINE LIGHT POPPED ON AND A WARNING MESSAGE READ, "ENGINE SPEED REDUCING." I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED BECAUSE OF THIS. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND A COMMON PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED. NOTHING IS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY.
MY VEHICLE IS GIVING ME A SHIFT TO PARK MESSAGE AFTER THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE GIVES A DING NOISE TO INFORM ME THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN PARK. IT TAKES MULTIPLE TIMES TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF COMPLETELY.
SINCE I PURCHASED THE CAR, IT HAS HAD REGULAR MAINTENANCE DONE ON TIME. I WAS DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE ON MY WAY HOME FROM WORK. AS I GOT OFF THE EXIT I NOTICED MY CAR ACTING FUNNY, AS I GOT TO THE END OF THE EXIT I NOTICED THAT I HAD NO BREAKS AND THAT I COULD NOT TURN THE STEERING AT ALL AND ACTUALLY COULD NOT COME TO A STOP AT THE END OF THE EXIT, HAVING TO RUN THE STOP SIGN AND INTO ON COMING TRAFFIC WHICH IF A POLICE OFFICER WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A VERY BAD SITUATION. HAD MY CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO FIND OUT THAT IT JUMPED TIME. WITH ONLY 70+ THOUSAND MILES ON MY CAR, WHY WOULD I EVEN THINK TO WORRY ABOUT MY CAR JUMPING TIME. I THEN FIND OUT MY WARRANTY ENDED AT 60,000 MILES. I HAVE READ THAT THERE ARE NUMBER OF CASES WITH THIS ISSUE. NOW I AM OUT $ 3000.00 FOR A MOTOR AND LABOR TO HAVE THE MOTOR INSTALLED.
ON SEPT 6TH 2019, AS I AM TRAVELLING TO WORK IN THE MORNING AROUND 7:15AM AT THE SIGNAL POINT MY CAR SUDDENLY SHUTDOWN OFF AND ALL MY CAR DOORS LOCKED UP AND I TRIED IN PULLING OUT BUT IT TAKES ME SOMETIME TO FIGURE THAT OUT. THIS IS NOT MY FIRST TIME. WHEN I BOUGHT MY CAR I HAD ONE YEAR OF MANUFACTURER WARRANTY BUT WHEN IT IS COMPLETED MY CAR STARTED FAILING OFF THE ENGINE SUDDENLY. I TAKE MY CAR TO DEALER BUT HE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING PROBLEM WITH THAT ISSUE. BUT IT IS REPEATING THE SAME ISSUE.
THE REAR SUSPENSION OF OUR CAR STARTED MAKING A METALLIC POPPING NOISE WHEN WE DROVE OVER BUMPS OR ACCELERATED FROM A TRAFFIC LIGHT. THE SOUND ALSO OCCURRED WHEN SOMEONE SAT IN THE REAR SEAT WITH THE CAR PARKED. INTEGRITY CHEVROLET OF CHATTANOOGA, TN DETERMINED THAT BOTH KNUCKLES IN THE REAR SUSPENSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT IF THIS HAD BEEN LEFT UNADDRESSED, IT COULD CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE AS THERE WAS METAL RUBBING AGAINST METAL.

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO SET THE VEHICLE ALARM AND THE HEADLIGHTS HAD TO BE TURNED OFF MANUALLY. THIS ISSUE HAPPENS AT RANDOM TIMES. WHEN I CRANK UP, WHEN I'M AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, OR EVEN JUST AT A STOP SIGN, SOMETIMES MY CAR WILL TURN COMPLETELY OFF. IT WILL CRANK BACK UP, SOMETIMES, BUT SOMETIMES IT TAKES QUITE A FEW TIMES. ALSO, AGAIN AS I CRANK UP. IT GOES BACK TO OFF. INSTEAD OF GOING TO AUTO STOP, IT WILL CUT COMPLETELY OFF TOO. I HAVE NO ENGINE LIGHT OR ANY OTHER LIGHTS THAT COME ON TO ALERT ME THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG BUT IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND HAS BEEN HAPPENING MORE FREQUENTLY AND IT IS CONCERNING. ALSO, IT FEELS LIKE THE CAR IS KICKING OR FIRING BACK NOW WHEN I AM DRIVING. THIS IS RANDOM ALSO.

LATER, WHILE IDLING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SHUT OFF AND BEGAN TO ROLL BACKWARDS DOWN A SLIGHT INCLINE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DETERMINED. DAVIDSON CHEVROLET (18579 US ROUTE 11, WATERTOWN, NY) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 22,000.
MY CAR JUST STOPPED CRANKING AND ITS LIKE I HAVE ALL THE POWER TURNED OFF, I WAS IN MY YARD. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY, CHANGED IT STILL NO CHANGE. MY AIRBAG REPAIR LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND MY CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING FINE ALL DAY FINE UNTIL I PARKED IT AND EVERYTHING STOPPED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALLEN GWYNN CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 1400 S BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91204, (818) 528-8597) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,007.
'TAKATA RECALL' I FOUND 2 RECALLS THAT MATCH THE SYSTEMS OF MY VEHICLE PERFECTLY HOWEVER WHEN I PUT MY VIN IN. THE RECALLS DO NOT COME UP. HERE ARE THE RECALL NUMBERS I AM REFERRING TO. 51230, AND 39440. WHEN THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED HAPPENS USUALLY ON THE HIGHWAY ONLY HAS HAPPENED A FEW TIMES ON THE STREET. WHEN BRAKING A NOICE IS COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD AND THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON.
TAKATA RECALL MY CAR HAS COMPLETELY SHUT OFF ON ME TWICE IN TRAFFIC NOW, THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE YOU LOOSE CONTROL OF YOUR STEERING AND BRAKE SYSTEM LUCKILY BOTH TIMES I WAS NOT GOING AT A HIGH SPEED AND I LET THE CAR SLOW ON IT'S OWN, BUT THERE ARE NO ERROR CODES POPPING UP, NO TYPE OF WARNING AT ALL THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE CAR. SOMETIMES IT WON'T START IN THE MORNING SO AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY OR REMOTE BATTERY SO I CHANGED BOTH IT STARTED WORKING FOR ABOUT A WEEK SO I THOUGHT THE ISSUE WAS FIXED BUT IT STILL CUTS OFF A FEW TIMES A DAY, LIKE TODAY IT WOULDN'T START AND WHEN I FINALLY GOT IT STARTED MY HEAT AND AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK, OTHER TIMES MY HOME SCREEN WILL BE COMPLETELY BLACK AND NO POWER TO IT. I HOPE WHATEVER IS GOING ON WITH THESE VEHICLES ARE FIXED SOON BECAUSE IT IS VERY SCARY AND DANGEROUS WHEN THIS HAPPENS ESPECIALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. ANOTHER THING WHEN MY CAR IS STATIONARY AND IT WON'T START I WILL PUSH THE PUSH TO START BUTTON YOU WILL HERE A CLICKING SOUND AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL FLASH BUT THE ENGINE WILL NOT TURN ON ONCE I DO GET IT STARTED I GET THE WORD STABILETRAK, SO I TOOK MY CAR TO THE CHEVY DEALER ONCE AGAIN AND THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT.
I PARK, PLACE THE SHIFTER INTO PARK AND TURN THE CAR OFF BUT A MESSAGE APPEARS ON THE GAUGE CLUSTER SCREEN SAYING SHIFT INTO PARK. THE ENGINE IS OFF BUT THE LIGHTS AND RADIO STAY ON. THE SHIFTER IS LOCKED AND WILL NOT MOVE. THE SAME SCREEN SHOWS THAT THE CAR IS IN PARK BEFORE I SHUT THE CAR OFF, I CAN FEEL THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTING TOO. I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR BACK ON AND RUN THROUGH THE GEARS AND BACK OFF SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT SHUT OFF. SEEMS TO HAPPEN MORE OFTEN ON SHORTER TRIPS. I WENT TO THE DEALER THEY HAVE A PART ON ORDER SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE BUT I'M JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 2.5 YEARS JUST OVER 35K MILES AND IT JUST STARTED.

TAKATA RECALL- MY CAR IS DECREASING SPEED, SWITCHING GEARS WHILE DRIVING, MY CAR KEEPS TELLING ME TO 'SHIFT TO PARK' WHILE THE CAR IS ALREADY PARKED AND NOT CUTTING OFF. THE CAR KEEPS DROPPING TO ZERO ON MY DASH BOARD WHILE I'M DRIVING AND SHAKING WHILE I'M DRIVING. MY SENSOR SYSTEM KEEPS FLASHING 'STABILITALK' AND 'STEERING POWER SERVICE, REDUCED SPEED'
SINCE I BOUGHT THIS CAR NEW IN 2016 I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE VCM 4 TIMES. NOTHING SEEMED TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THE STOP/START NEVER WORKED RIGHT. THREE TIMES OVER THE LAST MONTH, AFTER VARIOUS REPAIRS AT THE DEALERSHIP, THE CAR HAS COMPLETELY STOPPED WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD NOT START AGAIN. THE DOORS UNLOCKED AND LOCKED, VEHICLE JUMPED 3 TIMES, ALL KINDS OF WARNING LIGHTS AND MESSAGES ON THE DASH....THEN NOTHING BUT A DEAD CAR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD ON A SUNNY DRY DAY. I COULD'VE BEEN THE CAUSE OF ACCIDENTS WHILE STOPPED IN THE ROADWAY AND MANY PEOPLE COULD'VE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED. THE CAR WAS FIXED THE FOURTH TIME YESTERDAY AND THE MECHANIC TOOK IT OUT TO TEST BEFORE RETURNING THE VEHICLE TO ME. IT DIED ON HIM AGAIN AND HAD TO BE TOWED BACK TO THE SERVICE CENTER. SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND THE CERTIFIED GM TECHS CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. P3055 AND P3056 ARE THE ERROR CODES THAT COME UP EVERY TIME. NEW BATTERY, NEW VCM, NEW WIRING HARNESS....EACH TIME THE PROBLEM GOT WORSE UNTIL IT COMPLETELY STOPPED RUNNING. NO RECALL AND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO CHEVY IS NOT WILLING TO HELP AT ALL.

ON JUNE 30, 2019, I WAS DRIVING MY CHEVROLET MALIBU HYBRID HOME ON THE FREEWAY WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE LOST POWER AND STALLED. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT TURNED ON AND A MESSAGE ON THE DASHBOARD SAID 'SHIFT TO PARK'. I COASTED TO THE NEXT EXIT AND STOPPED ON THE SIDE OF A STREET. I PRESSED THE OFF BUTTON AND SHIFTED TO PARK. I TRIED TO TURN ON THE CAR AND IT WOULDN'T EVEN CRANK THE ENGINE. I CALLED AAA AND AFTER 10 TO 15 MINUTES THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT TURNED OFF. I TRIED AGAIN TO START THE CAR AND IT TURNED ON. I CANCELED AAA AND DROVE THE CAR HOME. AFTER A COUPLE OF DAYS, I DECIDED TO SCAN THE TROUBLE CODES IN THE CAR WITH MY CODE SCANNER. THE REPORT SAID FOUR CONFIRMED TROUBLE CODES, NO PERMANENT TROUBLE CODES, NO PENDING TROUBLE CODES, NO BODY CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES, 1 TELEMATICS TROUBLE CODES, NO HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE MODULE TROUBLE CODES, AND FOUR ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES. I SAVED THE REPORT AND RESET THE TROUBLE CODES. COPY OF THE REPORT ATTACHED. THEN ON JULY 2, 2019, I WAS DRIVING ON THE CITY STREET AND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN WITH THE SAME MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK. I COASTED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND PRESSED THE OFF BUTTON AND SHIFTED TO PARK. I TRIED TO START THE CAR AND IT DID START AND I DROVE IT HOME. NEXT DAY I SCANNED THE TROUBLE CODES AGAIN. THE REPORT SAID NO CONFIRMED TROUBLE CODES, NO PERMANENT TROUBLE CODES, NO PENDING TROUBLE CODES, 2 BODY CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES, 3 FRONT CAMERA ACTIVE SAFETY TROUBLE CODES, 3 TRANSFER CASE CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES, AND 1 ELECTRONIC BRAKE CONTROL MODULE TROUBLE CODES. I SAVED THE REPORT, COPY ATTACHED. NEXT DAY I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR TROUBLE SHOOTING, AND REPAIR UNDER WARRANTY.
THIS HAS HAPPEN TO ME MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE MOST RECENT ONE BEING TODAY. THE CAR WOULD BE AT A RED LIGHT WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE WHOLE CAR WOULD SHUT IT SELF OFF THEN RESTART AGAIN SHORTLY AFTER TURNING OFF. THEN A MESSAGE WOULD POP UP ON THE LCD SCREEN SAYING SOMETHING ALONG THE LINES OF. 'POWER STEERING ASSIST REDUCED' THE MESSAGE WOULD DISAPPEAR SO FAST THAT IT DOESN'T EVEN GIVE ME A CHANCE TO FULLY READ IT.
THE CAR CONSTANTLY GETS MESSAGE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED WHILE DRIVING WITH NO PREVIOUS ISSUES OR WARNINGS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THEN MY DRIVING SPEED DECREASES WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR THEN STARTS NORMAL WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ERROR CODE

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S HOME. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
UPON STOPPING AND SHIFTING THE TRANSMISSION INTO PARK, THE INSTRUMENT DISPLAY GIVES A "SHIFT TO PARK" WARNING AND WHEN THE "STOP / START" BUTTON IS PUSHED TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE STOPS, BUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM REMAINS ENERGIZED. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT AND IT OFTEN TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REMEDY BY RE-STARTING THE ENGINE, SHIFTING INTO GEAR, SHIFTING BACK TO PARK, THEN HITTING THE "STOP / START" BUTTON AGAIN BEFORE IT WORKS CORRECTLY. BASED ON FEEDBACK FROM THIS AND OTHER SITES, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AND MY LOCAL DEALER HAS QUOTED ME APPROXIMATELY $500 TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL ASSEMBLY. GM HAS ALSO ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN, NO. 18-NA-297, WHICH RECOGNIZES THIS PROBLEM. THE CAR HAS 27,000 MILES ON IT AND IS 3 MONTHS OUT OF WARRANTY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FROM A 100 YEAR OLD CAR COMPANY THAT THE GOVERNMENT BAILED OUT JUST 10 YEARS AGO.

THE TIRES WERE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. TIM LALLY CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 24999 MILES RD, WARRENSVILLE HEIGHTS, OH 44128, (440) 359-8781) WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE VIA PHONE. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE AND VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON AN INCLINED DRIVEWAY. THE CAR WAS RAINED ON FOR 2 CONSTITUTIVE DAYS. THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY JUST ABOVE THE REAR LEAKED INTO THE ROOF OF THE CARE AND THE TRUNK. THE LEAK WAS EXTREMELY FAST AND CAUSED A POOL ABOUT 1/2 AN INCH DEEP TO BUILD UP IN THE SPARE TIRE STORAGE COMPARTMENT OF THE TRUNK. THE LEAK CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE ROOF PANEL ON THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR WITH SIGNIFICANT WATER MARKS, AND COMPLETELY SOAKED THE TRUNK AS MENTIONED BEFORE WITH THE POOL OF WATER. THE CAR WAS PURCHASE NEW AND HAS NEVER BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT OR COLLISION OF ANY TYPE. THE TECHNICIAN THAT REPAIRED THE LEAK SHOWED THE LEAK WAS CAUSED BY A LOOSE NUT ON THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT ASSEMBLY JUST ABOVE THE REAR WINDOW. I HAVE ATTACHED THE INVOICE FROM THE REPAIR SHOP THAT FIXED THE LEAK. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO SERVICE OR INVESTIGATE THE SOURCE OF THE LEAK BECAUSE THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO MILEAGE. THE CARE WAS STATIONARY AND PARKED UNDER A RAINSTORM WHEN THE DAMAGES WERE NOTICED. AS FAR AS I CAN TELL THERE IS NO ELECTRICAL DAMAGE HOWEVER THE PROXIMITY TO THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT WARRANTS THE REPORT OF ELECTRICAL DAMAGE. BODY DAMAGE IS DUE TO WATER DAMAGE TO THE FLOOR MATS OF THE TRUNK, HEADREST IN THE PASSENGER AREA OF THE CAR, AND WATER DAMAGE TO THE ROOF OF THE VEHICLE. THE DAMAGE WAS FOUND ON SATURDAY JULY 6TH, 2019. THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED ON TUESDAY JULY 9TH, 2019.
ENGINE FAILURE. MY CAR WENT COMPLETELY OUT WHILE DRIVING HOME. THE STABIKITRAK POP ON, ENGINE LIGHT POP ON, BRAKES LOCKED UP MAKING IT HARD FOR ME TO STOP THE CAR IN TRAFFIC. I HOPE THEY ARE PLANNING ON DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THIS BECAUSE I SHOULDN'T HAVE TO BE AFRAID FOR MY LIFE. THIS CAR IS DEFINITELY NOT SAFE.

MY 2016 MALIBU HAS INTERMITTENTLY NOT TURNED OFF WHEN HITTING THE STOP BUTTON AND THE ERROR MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" WAS COMING UP. THE CAR WAS IN PARK. I AM ABLE TO TAKE MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE WITH NO MOVEMENT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS HAS INCREASED TO WHERE I HAVE TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVENTUALLY IT ALLOWS THE CAR TO TURN OFF. WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO EXPLAIN THE SITUATION THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE SHIFTER WAS BAD. HE STATED THAT HE KNEW THAT WAS THE PROBLEM BECAUSE IT WAS THE 8TH ONE THEY HAD REPLACED OVER THE PAST COUPLE OF WEEKS. I DO NOT LIVE IN A LARGE METRO AREA SO 8 IS A PRETTY HIGH NUMBER FOR THE POPULATION. I RESEARCHED ONLINE AND NOTICED THAT MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2016-2017 MALIBU AND VOLTS OVER THE SAME ISSUE.
AT 63K MILES, THE PISTON CRACKED AND THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS SAME EXACT ISSUE, WHERE CHEVY DECIDED TO RETARD THE TIMING SO THIS WOULD FIX THE ISSUE. OBVIOUSLY, THIS DID NOT FIX THE ISSUE AND NOW THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED GM AS THIS IS A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND BECAUSE THE CAR IS OUT OF THE POWERTRAIN WARRANTY, THEY ARE ONLY WILLING TO PAY 40% OF THE TOTAL COST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE. ONLY 3K MILES OUT OF WARRANTY? MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND I HAVE TO SPILL ALMOST $5K TO FIX THE VEHICLE, WHEN THEY KNEW THEY HAD A PROBLEM? THIS IS NOT FAIR OR CORRECT. THE CONSUMER NEEDS REPRESENTATION AND CHEVY NEEDS TO PUT OUT A RECALL TO ALL OF THESE VEHICLES AND STAND BEHIND THEIR LOYAL CUSTOMERS. THIS IS THE 8TH GM VEHICLE I HAVE OWNED IN MY LIFETIME.

REPLACED THE BATTERY/ PROBLEM PERSISTS. WHEN GETTING OUT OF CAR AND CLOSING DOORS, HORN HONKS 3 TIMES. REMOTE NOT DETECTED WHEN GETTING IN CAR AGAIN TO GO SOMEWHERE. PROBLEM STARTED SHORTLY AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. TOOK TO DEALER, COURTESY CHEVROLET. WAS TOLD WHILE THE PROBLEM WAS NOT "COMMON" IT WAS A "KNOWN" ISSUE. NEVER SUGGESTED THIS WAS SOMETHING TO LOOK AT ANY OTHER TIME THE CAR WAS IN FOR SERVICE. HAD TO REPLACE THE SHIFT GEAR. COST $450 INITIALLY, BUT AFTER COMPLAINING, THEY TOOK OFF ABOUT $100. WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED BY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH NHTSA DEFINES POWER TRAIN AS INCLUDING "SHIFT LEVER/GEAR CONTROL AND INDICATOR DEVICES." THERE IS A TSB OUT ON THIS PROBLEM AND MANY NHTSA COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS CHEVROLET MESSAGE BOARDS. CAR HAS ONLY 16,000 MILES ON IT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-5339020905. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000.
THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER MODE WHILE DRIVING. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED. THE ISSUE CONTINUED AFTER IT WAS REPAIRED. IT CREATES A DANGEROUS SITUATION BECAUSE IT HAPPENS AS I'M DRIVING THE CAR.

WHILE ON VACATION ROAD TRIP TO SEVERAL NORTHWESTERN STATES, WHILE TURNING AROUND IN A PARKING LOT, ABOUT TO EXIT, CAR COMPLETELY SHUTS OFF - NO WARNING LIGHTS OR NOTHING, JUST SHUTS OFF, LOOKED UNDER HOOD, NOTHING UNUSUAL, WAITED ABOUT FIVE MINUTES, CAR STARTED WITH STIIL NO WARNING LIGHTS . WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT BACK TO TEXAS WITH NO OTHER PROBLEMS. CHECKED INTERNET AND THERE WERE NO RECALLS - HOWEVER THERE WERE SEVERAL OTHER OCCURRENCES OF THIS HAPPENING TO OTHER MALIBUS. UPON RETURN HOME PHONED MY DEALERSHIP AND MADE THEM AWARE OF WHAT HAPPENED, THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY WERE NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING LIKE THIS HAPPENING, THEY ENCOURAGED ME TO FILE THIS COMPLAINT BECAUSE THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO AT THIS TIME DUE TO THEY HAVE NOTHING STATING THIS HAS HAPPENED.
WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP, PUT THE CAR INTO PARK AND KILL THE MOTOR IT IS NOT RECOGNIZING THAT THE CAR IS IN PARK. THE RADIO KEEPS PLAYING AND THE INFORMATION BOARD READS "SHIFT TO PARK". THIS HAS TO BE DONE REPEATEDLY. IT HAS DONE THIS BEFORE BUT STOPPED. IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN 6/20/2019
THE CAR SHUTS OFF IN TRAFFIC. I CAN BE AT A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR JUST SHUTS OFF. ALL THE LIGHTS IN CAR FLASH AND VEHICLE JUST SHUTS OFF. THE ENGINE LIGHT STAYS ON IN VEHICLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVERYDAY FOR ABOUT A MONTH NOW.
