TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL ACTIVATED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP OR SLOW DOWN WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO DRIVE ONTO THE SHOULDER AT SPEEDS OF MORE THAN 55 MPH IN ORDER TO AVOID CRASHING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. DURING THE INCIDENT, A 911 CALL WAS MADE AND POLICE RESPONDED BY PUSHING THE VEHICLE INTO A MEDIAN IN ORDER STOP IT AND PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM CRASHING INTO OTHER VEHICLES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE DID NOT OPERATE AND THE STOP/START BUTTON WAS PRESSED, BUT DID NOT TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BALE CHEVROLET (13101 CHNAL PKWY, LITTLE ROCK, AR) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE VACUUM FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE BRAKING SYSTEM TO FAIL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 9-531-1269174. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
MY STEERING IS VERY ERRATIC AND TOUCHY. AFTER DRIVING STRAIGHT FOR A SHORT PERIOD I CAN FEEL A SLIGHT CATCH IN THE STEERING. THIS REQUIRES EXTRA EFFORT AND THEN THE CAR SHOOTS ACROSS THE LANE. IM CONSTANTLY CORRECTING THE STEERING ITS SCARY TO DRIVE AT TIMES. I HAVE HAD THE DEALERSHIP INSPECT IT AND FOUND NO MECHANICAL PROBLEMS. THEY REPROGRAMMED THE STEERING, REPLACED THE TIRES AND PERFORMED SOFTWARE UPDATE.
THE HIGH MOUNTED TAIL LIGHT POPS UP AND HAS CAUSED LEAKAGE INSIDE THE VECHILE. ALSO THE ESC WARNING LIGHT COME ON FOR NO REASON UNDER REGULAR DRIVING CONDITIONS AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN YOU PUT CAR IN PARK IT WILL STATE THE CAR IS NOT IN PARK SO YOU HAVE TO PLAY WITH THE SHIFTER A LITTLE.
MY ISSUE STARTED A FEW DAYS AGO AND HAS PROGRESSIVELY GOTTEN WORSE. I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT OFF THE VEHICLE AND A MESSAGE APPEARS TO "SHIFT TO PARK" CAR IS TURNED OFF AND ALREADY IN PARK AND YOU CANNOT JUST GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO GO AWAY IT JUST REMAINS ON THE SCREEN AND THE CAR REMAINS ON IN AN AUXILIARY TYPE MODE WHICH I'M PRETTY SURE IF LEFT ALONE WOULD EVENTUALLY DRAIN THE BATTERY. IT HAD GOTTEN WORSE SINCE I WAS HAVING TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND ON MULTIPLE TIMES BEFORE IT WOULD REGISTER IT WAS ACTUALLY IN PARK. THE DEALERSHIP CURRENTLY HAS MY CAR AND HAS TOLD ME THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACED. I HAD SENT THEM A SCREEN SHOT OF THE SERVICE REPORT FROM GM WHICH YOU CAN FIND HERE HTTPS://STATIC.NHTSA.GOV/ODI/TSBS/2018/MC-10154985-999.PDF WHICH STATES THE PROBLEM MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARE HAVING. MY CAR HAS 21K MILES ON IT AND I'VE ONLY HAD IT FOR TWO YEARS. I'M GOING TO BE VERY UPSET IF I END UP HAVING TO PAY THIS OUT OF POCKET EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS STILL TECHNICALLY UNDER WARRANTY FROM THE DATE I PURCHASED IN 2017.
CAR IS STALLING WHENEVER I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE TO TRY TO AVOID MAKING A LEFT TURN BECAUSE IT TAKES SO LONG FOR THE CAR TO REACT WHEN I GET ON THE ACCELERATOR TO GO. SOME DAYS IT WILL HESITATE A LITTLE AND GO, BUT LATELY IT HAS BEEN STALLING ALL THE WAY OUT AND IT TAKES A FEW MINS FOR IT TO REACT WHEN I'M TRYING TO PULL OFF!!
I OWN A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU AND ONE OF ITS FEATURES IS AN AUTO STOP/START FEATURE IN THE CAR. WHEN THIS CAR ENTERS THIS MODE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK IT IS SUPPOSED TO START AGAIN BUT WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF OF THE BREAK IT WILL JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, WHEN I TRY TO START THE CAR AGAIN IT WILL JUST STALL. I WAS INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT ON JUNE 9TH 2019 WHERE THE CAR CUT OFF AND ROLLED BACK INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS IS JUST ONE OCCASION OF THE CAR CUTTING OFF ON ME AND BECOMING IMMOBILE. I WAS TOLD IT WAS A BATTERY ISSUE AND A WIRING ISSUE I'VE GOTTEN BOTH ADDRESSED BUT IT STILL HAPPENS. I'VE RECEIVED A LETTER FROM CHEVY THAT MAY ADDRESS THE ISSUE BUT I HAVE TO SEE. MY CAR CURRENTLY WON'T START. TODAY IS SEPTEMBER 24,2019
I HAVE A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU WITH ROUGHLY 50,000 MILES ON IT. FOR A LITTLE OVER A YEAR NOW, IT IS NO LONGER RECOGNIZING WHEN THE CAR IS PLACED IN PARK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO MY LOCAL CHEVY DEALER (WHERE WE HAVE ALL OIL CHANGES/WORK DONE ON THE VEHICLE) AND THEY STATED THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY NEEDS REPLACING. I AM QUITE UPSET OVER THIS AS THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS OF THIS HAPPENING TO INDIVIDUALS AND GM IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR IT. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY IN THIS NEW OF A CAR AND ESPECIALLY A CAR THAT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED $1,000 TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE DOING ALL THE NECESSARY WORK/OIL CHANGES AND ALL RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. ONCE THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK AND YOU GO TO SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF, AN ALARM DINGS AND DISPLAYS A MESSAGE SAYING "SHIFT TO PARK." THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK, YOU CAN REMOVE YOUR FOOT FROM THE BRAKE AND IT DOES NOT ROLL. YOU CAN NOT WALK AWAY FROM THE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE BATTERY WILL THEN DRAIN. NORMALLY, VEHICLE HAS TO BE RESTARTED AND PLACED IN DRIVE THEN SHIFT BACK TO PARK IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO OFF. THIS IS HAPPENING CONSISTENTLY NOW. THIS COULD BECOME EVEN A GREATER ISSUE THAN GM IS REALIZING AS IF YOU DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE MESSAGE, YOUR CAR CAN REMAIN ON AND INDIVIDUALS COULD DIE FROM CARBON MONOXIDE. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT GM & CHEVY NEEDS TO ADDRESS SOONER THAN LATER.
WARNING NOTICE COMES ON SAYING ENGINE IS POWER DOWN WHILE DRIVING. WHILE ON THE INTERSTATE GOING 70 MILES AN HOUR, IT STARTS SLOWING DOWN TO 30 MILES AN HOUR OR LESS AND WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED HE WAS PARKING THE VEHICLE AND THE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED WITH A MESSAGE TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE CONTACT THEN SHIFTED THE VEHICLE BACK INTO DRIVE AND BACK INTO PARK YET THE ERROR MESSAGE STATED SHIFT TO PARK. THE CONTACT STATED HE TRIED TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND THE ENGINE SHUT-OFF HOWEVER, THE HEADLIGHTS, INTERIOR LIGHTS, AND THE RADIO REMAINED ON. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIDWAY CHEVROLET (2323 W BELL RD, PHOENIX, AZ 85023) WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS THE PARK FAILURE MECHANISM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,863.
EVERYTIME IT RAINS THE INSIDE OF MY TRUNK IS SOAKED AND SMELLS LIKE MILDEW. NOT TO MENTION WHEN I LIFTED MY SPARE TIRE OUT FROM THE TRUNK THERE WAS SEVERAL INCHES OF WATER JUST SITTING IN THERE. WHILE DRIVING IN A THUNDERSTORM I NOTICED THERE WAS WATER LEAKING INSIDE NEAR THE BACK WINDOWS AND I NOTICED THE HEADLINER IS BADLY WATER STAINED. SPOKE TO MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVERAGE AND THEY DON'T COVER 'WATER DAMAGE'! WELL I WOULDN'T HAVE WATER DAMAGE IF I HAD A DECENT MADE CAR THAT DOESN'T LEAK WHEN IT RAINS! I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN THAT SIT IN THE BACK SEAT AND HAVE TO GET RAINED ON. GUESS I WILL HAVE TO GIVE THEM UMBRELLAS WHILE RIDING IN THE CAR. IT'S VERY UNSAFE FOR MY CHILDREN TO BE BREATHING/INHALING THE MOLD THAT IS IN THE TRUNK WITH THEIR ASTHMA/MOLD RELATED ALLERGIES.
WHEN THE CAR IS IN A STATIONARY POSITION AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE CAR, I RECEIVED AN ERROR ON MY DASHBOARD DISPLAY STATING 'SHIFT TO PARK' HOWEVER THE CAR IS SHOWING IN PARK. CAR WILL NOT TURN OFF COMPLETELY. AFTER RESTARTING THE CAR AND SHIFTING INTO DRIVE/REVERSE, AND ATTEMPTING TO TURN OFF THE CAR NUMEROUS TIMES IT MAY FINALLY REGISTER IN PARK AND ALLOW THE CAR TO BE COMPLETELY SHUT OFF.
THERE IS TIMES I WILL STOP PUT CAR IN PARK AND SHUT ENGINE OFF AND THE SCREEN WILL READ SHIFT TO PARK. SO I WILL HAVE TO START IT AGAIN PULL AHEAD OR BACK UP AND TRY IT AGAIN. THERE IS TIMES I HAVE TO DO IT MANY TIMES BEFORE IT REGISTERS AND SOMETIMES ONLY ONCE. FOR THE DATE OF WHEN IT HAPPENED THAT WAS THE LAST TIME IT DID IT BUT HAS DONE IT IN THE PAST
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY MY "STABILITRAK" LIGHT FLASHED ON AND I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I PULLED OVER AND WHILE BREAKING THE CAR WAS HOPPING. TURNED THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON AND VARIOUS LIGHTS CAME ON (STABILITRAK, CHECK ENGINE, TRACTION CONTROL AND STEERING ASSIST). I ATTEMPTED TO START DRIVING AGAIN AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE APPROPRIATELY. HAD IT TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHO COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT BECAUSE ALL THE ALERTS HAD TURNED OFF.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle independently engine seized and the check engine warning light illuminated. In addition, the contact stated that the battery would not stay charged. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with a no-start dead battery. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was informed of TSB 16-NA-209 in which the failure description was similar to that of the contact's vehicle. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for repair. The dealer was contacted and made aware of the failure and the vehicle had a scheduled service appointment. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 176,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" IHAVE A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU IT HAS 23000 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT IN TO BE LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT WAS NO LONGER RECOGNIZING WHEN I PLACED IT IN PARK. MY 36,000MILE WARRANTY ENDED 2 MONTHS AGO TO THE DAY I HAD IT AT THE DEALERSHIP. I WAS TOLD I NEEDED TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY, I AM QUITE UPSET BECAUSE THERE'S ONLY 23,000 MILES ON THIS AND I FEEL THIS SHOULD BE COVERED BY THE DRIVE TRAIN WARRANTY OR AS A RECALL. I HAVE SEEN SEVERAL REPORTS RECENTLY REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE IN THE 2016 CHEVY MALIBU'S THAT ARE THE SAME STYLE AS MINE. BOTTOM LINE 23,000 MILES ON A CHEVY MALIBU SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE A SHIFTER ASSEMBLY AND COST 1300 DOLLARS OUT OF POCKET TO DO SO. I HAVE MAINTAINED MY VEHICLE DOING ALL OF THE NECESSARY WORK OR OIL CHANGES AND RECOMMENDED MAINTENANCE. WHEN PARKING THE VEHICLE I HAVE PLACED IT IN PARK AND AN ALARM GOES OFF SAYING PLACE YOUR VEHICLE IN PARK, IT'S IN PARK BUT YOU CANNOT WALK AWAY FROM THE CAR BECAUSE THE BATTERY WILL THEN DRAIN OR I WILL HAVE BIGGER ISSUES. I HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR, SHIFT INTO DRIVE AND SLOWLY PLACE MY CAR IN PARK TO GET THE MESSAGE TO CLEAR AND IT RECOGNIZE THAT IT IS IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS AT WORK, IN A PARKING LOT, IN MY GARAGE, AT THE STORE, AND SOMETIMES IT HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES IN A ROW AFTER RESTARTING AGAIN AND AGAIN.
CAR COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AT A RED LIGHT AND HAD NO POWER. STEERING LOCKS UP AND HAD TO PUSH CAR HAVE TOWED& THEN IT STARTED RIGHT UP AFTER. THIS IS HAPPENING TO MANY PEOPLE AND IT STOPS EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE
MY 2016 CHEVY MALIBU HAS 93,000 MILES ON IT. NO ISSUES UNTIL THIS DAY. LAST WEEK I WAS DRIVING IT IN A NEIGHBORHOOD ABOUT 40 MILES FROM MY HOME. WHEN I GOT TO THE NEIGHBORHOOD I HAD TO APPLY MY BRAKES. THE BRAKES WERE LOCKED AT TOP OF THE PEDAL. I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. SCARED THE [XXX] OUT OF ME! DROPPED THE PEOPLE OFF. DROVE 3 BLOCKS TO A 7 11, SCARED TO DRIVE ANY FURTHER. PARKED AND THE CAR DIED AND WOULD NOT START. WAITING 3 HOURS FOR THE TOW TRUCK, FINALLY GOT THE CHEVY MALIBU AND MYSELF HOME A 5AM. HAD A MOBILE MECHANIC RUN A DIAGNOSTIC ON IT. MULTIPLE ISSUES CAME UP. EVERYTHING FROM MULTIPLE BRAKE ISSUES AND EVEN MORE ENGINE ISSUES. HAD TO TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP NEAR BY. BRAKE TECH RAN A DIAGNOSTIC, SAID NOT BRAKES IT'S AN ENGINE ISSUE. ENGINE TECH SAYS IT 'MAYBE' TIMING OR CAM SHAFT. $2500 ON A MAYBE, BEST THEY CAN TELL FROM THE DIAGNOSTIC. FROM ALL THE REVIEWS I HAVE READ ABOUT THIS VERY SAME ISSUE AND THE GUESSING GAME AT OWNERS EXPENSE. NONE OF THESE HAVE FIXED THE ISSUES. WHILE READING THE REVIEWS, I READ 3 PEOPLE HAVE DIED FROM THIS VERY SAME ISSUE. IN ADDITION GM HAS REMOVE ANY AND ALL WARRANTY ON THIS VEHICLE ABOVE THE 36,000 MILES. GM WILL NOT TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE CHEVY MALIBU DEATH TRAP WHICH THEY ARE FULLY AWARE OF. NO RECALL, NO REPAIR SUPPORT FOR THE DEALERSHIP THAT NOW IS INVOLVED WITH THIS WORTHLESS PRODUCT. MY QUESTION FOR GM IS HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE THEY WILL DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT? I SAY TO THE CEO OF GM. I WANT ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS TO HAVE MY CAR AS THERE DAILY DRIVE. WHILE DRIVING IN THE HIGHWAY THE CAR SLOWED ABRUBTLY, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, AND THE DASH GAVE OUT ENGINE POWER REDUCED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MORE THAN ONE OCCASION WHILE I WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED. I PULLED OVER AND TURNED OFF THE CAR TO RESET IT. THE FIRST TIME THE LIGHT WENT OFF ON ITS OWN THE SECOND AND THERAFTER IT DID NOT. HAD THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED ONCE AND 7 MONTHS LATER IT IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS FOR ME AS A DRIVER AND THOSE AROUND ME!
MY WHOLE TRUNK AND BACK OF CAR HAS WATER COMING INTO IT. I RECENTLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALER SHIP AND THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $400 TO REPLACE BACK LIGHT BECAUSE SUPPOSEDLY THAT'S WERE THE WATER IS COMING IN THROUGH. I SAW ON GOOGLE MORE THEN 40 REVIEWS ON THAT EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE 2016 MALIBU'S.
WHEN I SHIFT MY VEHICLE TO PARK AND SHUT IT OFF IT WILL TELL ME ON SCREEN TO SHIFT TO PARK AND MY VEHICLE IS SHUT OFF. I HAVE TO START IT AGAIN AND PULL AHEAD OR BACK UP AND TRY IT AGAIN. THERE IS TIMES IT WILL DOING LIKE 6X BEFORE IT ACTUALLY READING THAT IT'S IN PARK.
WATER POURED INTO THE BACK SEAT AND ONTO MY SON. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP WHERE DIAGNOSED THAT THIRD CENTER BRAKE LIGHT IS NOT SEALED AND LEAKING WATER. SAME ISSUE AS ALL OTHER 9TH GEN MALIBUS (2016+ MODEL YEARS). DID NOT NOTICE LEAK UNTIL 43,000 MILES, OUT OF WARRANTY. WHO KNOWS HOW LONG IT HAS BEEN THERE! MANY PARTS RUINED AND POTENTIALLY MOLDY FROM WATER DAMAGE. GM CUSTOMER CARE SAID THE REPAIR IS $4300 OF WHICH THEY WANT ME TO PAY $1900 DESPITE THIS BEING A DESIGN OR PRODUCTION FLAW.

THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO RECOMMENDED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED SINCE APPROXIMATELY DECEMBER 2018 AND PROGRESSIVELY WORSEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,865. *TR CONSUMER STATED NOW HOLD THE SHIFTER FOR A LONGER TIME BEFORE I PUSH THE STOP. HOPEFULLY THAT WAS MY PROBLEM. *JB
MY TOUCH SCREEN, BACK UP CAMERA, AND BLUETOOTH DOES NOT WORK AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND THEY COULD NOT FIX IT. I ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR 3 MONTHS AND IT QUIT WORKING. IT STARTED TO GLITCH AND I DID THE TROUBLE SHOOTING AND NOTHING. IT STOP WORKING WHILE I WAS DRIVING ON SR 28 IN TIPTON INDIANA.

THERE WAS NO WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND FAILED TO ACCELERATE. KELLER CHEVROLET (LOCATED AT 3600 GENESEE ST, CHEEKTOWAGA, NY 14225, (716) 650-4589) STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. BRAKES OR ESC COMPLAINT I AM A GRANDMOTHER WHO DRIVES HER GRANDDAUGHTERS TO AND FROM SCHOOL. AS I AND MY GRANDDAUGHTER EXITED THE FREEWAY ONTO THE SERVICE ROAD, I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND SLOWED DOWN. AFTER GOING ANOTHER 50 FEET I PRESSED THE BRAKE TO STOP AT THE TRAFFIC LIGHT AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR BOARD..QUICKLY I PRESSED THE PEDAL AGAIN AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR FOR THE SECOND TIME. THE THIRD TIME I PRESSED THE PEDAL AS HARD AS I COULD INTO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WAS A VIBRATING SOUND. NEXT, I PRESSED THE PEDAL FOR THE FOURTH TIME AND FELT THE NORMAL AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE AND IT PERFORMED PROPERLY AND STOPPED THE CAR. I DROVE A FEW MORE BLOCKS TO MY DESTINATION GOING 10 MILES AN HOUR WITH MY HAZARD LIGHTS ON. I CALLED MY ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE SERVICE TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP. THE NEXT DAY I EXPLAINED THE EXPERIENCE TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT. THEY DROVE IT AND SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE EXPERIENCE. THEY DROVE THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES BUT THEN SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG SO THEY WERE READY TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME. I SAID I'M NOT READY TO TAKE IT BACK AND THAT THEY SHOULD BE GLAD THEY DIDN'T DUPLICATE MY EXPERIENCE, BECAUSE, THEY MIGHT HAVE HURT SOMEONE.. I CALLED GM AND THEY CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THE SERVICE MANAGER CALLED ME AND SAID HE DROVE IT AND IT PERFORMED NORMALLY. I ASKED HIM TO CONSULT WITH THE FACTORY OR TRY TO GET A BRAKE SPECIALIST TO LOOK AT IT. AND I TOLD HIM I WILL NOT DRIVE THE CAR ANOTHER INCH UNTIL THEY KNOW WHAT HAPPENED AND FIX IT. THEY DID NOT GIVE ME A LONER CAR SO I HAVE RENTED A CAR AT $50 A DAY. I HOPE TO GET THIS RESOLVED.

WHEN I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND SHIFTED TO PARK, IT AGAIN DISPLAYED THE "SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR AND WOULD NOT TURN OFF. EVENTUALLY I WAS ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. WHEN I RESTARTED IT, IT DISPLAYED "STABILITRAK" ERROR AND "POWER STEERING" ERROR. I DISABLED THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM IN ORDER TO GET BACK ON THE ROAD BECAUSE I WAS IN A REMOTE AREA WITH NO PLACE TO GET THE CAR FIXED. WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WOULD TURN THE STABILITRAK SYSTEM BACK ON AND SMACK THE BRAKES. I BOUGHT THIS CAR & DID NOT EVEN HAVE IT A MONTH AND THE SUNROOF WOULD START TO CLOSE AND THEN WOULD STOP AND OPEN OR GET STUCK HALF WAY OPEN. WHEN TRYING TO GET THIS TO CLOSE THE SUNROOF WOULD CLOSE WITHOUT PUTTING BEING PRESSED. THE WIRING HARNESS FAILED AND WAS BAD.

DASHBOARD COMPUTER SHOWS "WARNING STEERING ASSISTANCE REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE" CHEVY WILL NOT COVER EVEN OUT OF WARRANTY
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, ENGINE RAPIDLY LOST POWER AND DISPLAYED "ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED" ALERT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. SPEED BECAME MUCH LESS CONTROLLABLE. AS PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL WAS REDUCED, THE CAR DISPLAYED A GRADUALLY DECREMENTING "SPEED LIMITED TO X" MESSAGE. HOWEVER, UPON INCREASED PRESSURE ON GAS PEDAL, THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE BEYOND THE STATED SPEED LIMITING - THOUGH WITH NEARLY TOTAL LOSS OF POWER. INCONSISTENT ENGINE PERFORMANCE NEARLY LED TO AN ACCIDENT AS THE CAR WAS NOT PREDICTABLE. WAS GIVEN A CODE P2138, DRIVE BY WIRE. TOOK TO DEALER, DEALER SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THEY ARE TO REPLACE GAS PEDAL. REQUEST RECALL DUE TO DANGEROUS CONDITION AND REPEATED COMPLAINTS REGARDING ISSUE.
THE CAR CONSTANTLY GETS MESSAGE OF ENGINE POWER REDUCED WHILE DRIVING WITH NO PREVIOUS ISSUES OR WARNINGS. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON THEN MY DRIVING SPEED DECREASES WHILE DRIVING. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS! THIS HAPPENS ON CITY STREETS AND ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE TO PULL OVER TO SHUT THE CAR OFF AND WAIT A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTART THE CAR. THE CAR THEN STARTS NORMAL WITHOUT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ERROR CODES.
STABLITRACK NOT WORKING, ABS NOT WORKING AND STEERING ASSISTANCE NOT WORKING INTERMITTENTLY. CAR HAD ONLY 21220 MILES ON IT. DEALER SAYS IT HAS AN INTERNAL MALFUNCTION IN THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE, CODE C056D. PROBLEM OCCURRED WHILE IN MOTION IN A STRAIGHT LINE ON A CITY STREET AT ABOUT 35 MILES PER HOUR AND THEN VERIFIED WHILE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY. THE STEERING ASSISTANCE PROBLEM HAPPEN WHILE STATIONARY, THEN VERIFIED WHILE IN MOTION TURNING ON A CITY STREET AT A SLOW SPEED. VERIFICATION WAS IN ACCORDANCE TO INSTRUCTIONS IN THE OWNERS MANUAL.

2016 CHEVY MALIBU CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN TURNING ON. IT STATES REDUCE ENGINE SPEED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME WHEN I AM ON THE FREEWAY AND I AM UNABLE TO ACCELERATE. I CAN ONLY GO 30-40MPG. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME A COUPLE TIMES NOW. THE LATEST WAS TODAY. THEY HAD ALREADY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING.
VEHICLE STALLED ON HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING AT SPEED ON TWO DIFFERENT OCCASIONS DESPITE SERVICING AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT. BOTH TIMES, POP UP ALERT SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" AND THEN "ENGINE HAS REDUCED POWER" AFTER WHICH THE GAS PEDAL NO LONGER WORKS. AFTER PULLING TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, THERE WAS A LOW BATTERY ALERT.
I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY 'REDUCE ENGINE POWER' CAME ON FOLLOWED BY AN ENGINE LIGHT. I WAS GOING 75 AND GREATLY SLOWED DOWN TO 50 MPH AND ALMOST GOT IN A SERIOUS CAR CRASH. THERE IS A LOT OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL AND IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED!!
WHEN I STOPPED AT 3 RED LIGHTS ON MY WAY TO WORK THIS MORNING MY CAR SHUT COMPLETELY OFF WITH THE AUTO OFF SETTING BUT IT DIDN'T SHUT OFF UNTIL I LET GO OFF THE BREAK AND WHEN I LET GO AND IT SHUT OFF MY CAR STARTED GOING BACKWARDS AND THEN IT POWERED BACK ON.
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS PUT IN PARK, THE ENGINE DOES NOT SHUT DOWN WHEN I ATTEMPT TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE. THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE, HOWEVER IT STATES THE KEY MAY BE REMOVED WHEN IN PARK CAUSING THE IGNITION NOT TO SHUT DOWN. I AM UNAWARE THERE ARE ANY VEHICLES, THIS MAKE AND MODEL, WHICH HAVE KEYED IGNITIONS. I BELIEVE THEY ARE ALL PUSH BUTTON START AND STOP. MY VEHICLE HAS 18,000 MILES ON IT AND THE ISSUE STARTED AT 17,000 MILES AND CHEVY REFUSED TO FIX IT.

THIS HAPPENED TO ME ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO, I WAS AT A RED LIGHT, THE ENGINE WENT INTO START/STOP, THE RADIO CUT OFF, THE INSTRUMENT PANEL WENT CRAZY WITH WARNINGS. THE CAR WOULD NOT CUT BACK ON, I WAS UNABLE TO EVEN USE ME HAZARDS. I HAD NO ELECTRICAL IN THE CAR WHATSOEVER. I HAD TO LITERALLY KEEP PULLING THE DOOR HANDLE TO EVEN GET OUT OF IT. FINALLY HAD SOMEONE COME HELP ME PUSH IT OFF TO THE SIDE, JUMPED IT AND IT WAS FINE. EVER SINCE IT HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 20 MORE TIMES THAT THE RADIO CUTS OFF AND ON THEN THE CAR DIES. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT AT THIS POINT. EACH TIME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, BUT BY THE TIME I GET IT STARTED AGAIN IT IS OFF. THEN RANDOMLY THE ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME BACK ON AND OFF AGAIN. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO GET THE CODE READ, BUT NOTHING. THIS IS UNSAFE AND VERY SCARY.
WHILE PARKING THE VEHICLE AND PLACING THE SHIFTER TO PARK THE CAR GIVES AN ERROR MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" AFTER TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. HEADLIGHTS WILL NOT TURN OFF AND I IMAGINE OTHER ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS STILL RUN DURING THIS ERROR. SINCE THE MESSAGE NEVER WENT AWAY WHILE I WAS AT A NON-GM AUTO REPAIR SHOP IN FOR ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND BRAKE CHECK, THEY NEEDED TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT SO THAT THE CAR COULD TURN OFF COMPLETELY. THEY ALSO FOUND A TSB (ATTACHED) ON THIS ISSUE THAT INFORMED THEM ON HOW TO FIX THE "SHIFT TO PARK" ERROR. SINCE THE REPAIR WAS NOT AT A GM DEALER THE COST WAS OUT OF POCKET. HAVE CONTACTED GM AND SO FAR THEY ARE SAYING SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO IN TERMS OF REIMBURSEMENT.

A WEEK AFTER GETTING MY CAR I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY ROAD WHEN MY CAR REDUCED SPEED DRASTICALLY AND A MESSAGE POPPED UP SAYING ENGINE SPEED REDUCED AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. AFTER I CUT THE CAR OFF AND BACK ON IT SEEMS FINE AND EVENTUALLY THE ENGINE LIGHT GOES OFF. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THEN. I THINK SOMETHING COULD BE WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION BECAUSE MY CAR DOES NOT PICK UP SPEED IN FIRST AND SECOND GEAR VERY WELL. I KNOW THAT THERE WERE RECALLS FOR THESE VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUES BUT MY CAR DOESN'T SHOW ANY RECALLS.
I WAS DRIVING VEHICLE AND "CHECK ENGINE" LIGHT CAME ON AND MESSAGE SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCED. THE CAR RAPIDLY SLOWED DOWN AND WOULD NOT SPEED UP EVEN THOUGH I PRESSED DOWN HARD ON THE GAS PEDAL. I PULLED OVER AND PARKED, SHUT DOWN AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE. IT WORKED FINE. AS I DROVE TO GO BACK HOME, THE CAR COULD BARELY GO THE SPEED LIMIT. I PARKED THE CAR FOR MORE THAN 24 HRS. WHEN I STARTED THE CAR, THE ENGINE LIGHT HAD GONE OUT SO I DROVE OFF. WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND THE CAR'S SPEED SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN TO A VERY SLOW PACE. THE SPEED LIMIT WAS 40 MPH. I PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL TO THE FLOOR BUT THE CAR WOULD ONLY GO ABOUT 10-20 MPH. SPEED CONTROL WAS A DEFINITE PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOT FAR SO I DROVE IT THERE. I EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND THE SERVICE ATTENDANT TOLD ME WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS BEFORE HE CHECKED THE VEHICLE. IRONICALLY, THERE WAS ANOTHER CUSTOMER THERE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WE BOTH HAD THE SAME YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL WITH APPROXIMATELY THE SAME AMOUNT OF MILEAGE. THE SERVICE ATTENDANT ADDRESSED BOTH OF US TOGETHER SINCE WE BOTH HAD THE SAME ISSUE. WE NEEDED A APP PEDAL SENSOR. THEY DIDN'T HAVE THE PART. IT WAS ON BACK ORDER. THIS TELLS ME THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS CAR. HAD I BEEN ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED, I OR SOMEONE ELSE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD AND CHEVROLET NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX IT QUICKLY.
