The engine power reduced came light came on along with service stability trac. The car would stall after going into auto stop and just shut off. In certain instances it would shutoff when slowed down enough. It was brought in for service where the turbo charge solenoid starter and catalytic converter annd alternator all were replaced due to the turbo braking into pieces and being lodged into the converter and engine. Less than a week later the car returned to stalling at the auto stop feature. When brought in for service it was linked to the alternator and engine control module and mass air flow sensor. The car was then serviced again six months later for the alternator again. Now the car is once again stuck in engine power reduced with no direct codes linked to the problem and the starter was replaced and now the engine is remaining in limp mode. The car has stalled multiple times on not only at stop lights but on the highway and while turning at busy intersections causing traffic jams and even a side collision. The engine light as remained on since the day I got the car.
WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 IN THE CITY I GOT AN ERROR STATING ENGINE POWER REDUCED. LOST SPEED QUICKLY AND HAD LIMITED ABILITY TO ACCELERATE COULD NOT GO OVER 30 MPH OR ACCELERATE UP STEEP HILLS.
MY ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED ' APPEARS ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR'S SPEED DROPS & I CAN ONLY DRIVE AT 20-25 MPH. I RESTART THE CAR AND IT DRIVES FINE FOR 2MINS AND THEN GOES INTO LIMP MODE. IT'S A DANGEROUS SITUATION B/C I'M ON THE HIGHWAY DOING 60-65 AND THIS HAPPENS. I'M THANKFUL I DIDN'T GET INTO AN ACCIDENT. CODE P2138 IS WHAT MAKES THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON. THROTTLE/PEDAL ACCELERATOR .
I am reporting a recurring safety defect related to GM’s known “Shift to Park” issue. My vehicle displays a “Shift to Park” warning even when the vehicle is already in park, preventing the car from shutting off properly and creating a safety risk. This issue has been widely reported and associated with GM recalls and service bulletins. GM previously repaired this issue once while my vehicle was under warranty, acknowledging it as a known defect. The same defect has now reoccurred after the warranty period expired. GM is refusing to repair it again, despite the issue being recall-related and tied to a known defective design rather than wear and tear. This defect affects safe vehicle operation, risks battery drain, rollaway hazards, and driver distraction. I believe this is an unresolved safety defect that should be covered regardless of warranty status.
DRIVING 65MPH ON HIGHWAY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND STABILATRACK LIGHTS FLASH AND LOSS OF POWER STARTS HAPPENING AND CAR WONT GO OVER 20MPH ... IVE HAD THE CAR AT CHEVY 6 TIMES FOR ISSUE AFTER ISSUE AND NOW THIS LOSS OF POWER ON A HIGHWAY NEARLY KILLED ME AS I COULD BARELY GET CAR TO A.SAFE LOCATION...
DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY WHEN MY CAR GOT A MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYING 'REDUCED ENGINE SPEED' . I WENT FROM 60MPH TO 10MPS WITHIN SECONDS, THIS IS A SERIOUS LIFE THREATENING PROBLEM WHEN DRIVING. ONCE IT SLOWS COMPLETELY DOWN IT STOPS AND I HAVE TO TURN OFF MY CAR AND RESTART IT JUST FOR IT KEEP HAPPENING. WHEN I TOOK MY CAR TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP THEY TOLD ME 'EVERYONE WITH A MALIBU IS HAVING THESE PROBLEM LAST AND THEY CAN NO FIX IT CAUSE THE CAN'T FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM. THEY ALSO INFORMED ME WITH ALL THE MALIBU'S HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM IS SHOULD BE A RECALL. I WENT TO A ANOTHER CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THE EXACT SAME THING. CHEVY WANT US TO ENJOY THE CAR BUT WILL NOT GO THE EXTRA MILE TO DO RECALLS ON THEM WHEN THEY KNOW IT'S A BIG PROBLEM. MY CAR ALSO BE STUCK IN 'SHIFT TO PARK' WHEN IT'S ALREADY IN PARK, I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY RESTART MY CAR AND TURN IT OFF FOR THE MESSAGE TO GO ALWAYS AND MY CAR IS OFF, WHICH IS RIDICULOUS BECAUSE IF YOU LEAVE YOUR CAR IN SHIFT TO PARK THAT WILL COMPLETELY KILL YOUR BATTERY. ALSO, WHEN I START MY CAR IT SOUND LIKE A BUNCH OF WATER JUST MOVING AROUND BUT IT'S NOTHING LEAKING BUT YOU CAN HEAR THE WATER ONCE YOU START THE CAR. THE BRAKES ON THE CAR DO NOT LAST LONG ENOUGH! I WENT TO GET SOME BRAND NEW BRAKES IN OCTOBER AND WAS TOLD FROM TWO DIFFERENT CAR SHOPS THAT I NEED NEW BRAKES . THESE PROBLEMS IS RIDICULOUS AND DANGEROUS AND COULD BE FIXED BY RECALLING THE CARS AND FIXING THE PROBLEMS .
I NOTICED AN OIL LEAK IN MY GARAGE AND DRIVE WAY FROM MY VEHICLE WHICH IS AN ENVIRONMENTAL AND SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE MANUFACTURER'S DEALERSHIP AND AN INDEPENDENT SHOP AND THEIR CONCLUSION FOR THE CAUSE OF THE OIL LEAK IS FROM A HEAD GASKET AND UPPER OIL PAN GASKET LEAK. THIS VEHICLE IS 4.5 YEARS OLD AND HAS 78,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE AND SHOULD HAVE NOT PRESENTED AN ISSUE LIKE THIS EARLY IN ITS LIFE EXPECTANCY. THE LEAKING HEAD AND UPPER OIL PAN GASKETS CAUSES ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS OF OIL NOT BEING DISPOSED OF PROPERLY THAT COULD AFFECT OUR WILDLIFE AND FOOD SUPPLY. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS THAT THERE ARE NO OTHER SIGNS OF THIS FAILURE THUS IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD FOR THE OCCUPANTS OF THE VEHICLE AND COMMUTERS ALONG SIDE THE VEHICLE.
THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER SYSTEM. I HAVE HAD THIS REPLACED ONCE ALREADY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS! THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND WHEN U PRESS THE BRAKE THERE IS A LOUD GUSH OF AIR AND IT'S HARD TO STOP.
WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT 60 MPH AND DASHBOARD LIT UP WITH WARNING ENGINE POWER REDUCED MODE AND CAR WENT INTO LOW SPEED. TRIED ACCELERATING CAR WOULD NOT GO BEYOND 20 MPH
I WAS INVOLVED IN A COLLISON WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. IMMEDIATLY AFTER THE COLLISION THE BRAKES ON MY VEHICLE FAILED. I HAD TO USE THE CURB AND BUSHES TO STOP MY VEHICLE AFTER TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 300 YARDS FROM THE COLLISION SITE.
Was driving home from a job interview about two hours away from home, traveling at 55 mph when the vehicle reduced speed rapidly to ~ 15 mph and on the dash a warning message appeared stating that I had reduced engine power. The situation was incredibly dangerous as there was snow piled on the shoulder, leaving me with no safe way to quickly get out of the way of fast-moving traffic. Once out of the way and after restarting the car and seeing no warning lamps, messages, or anything indicating there were ongoing issues, I turned my hazards off, my turn signal on and made my way back onto the roadway when there was enough distance between myself and the next oncoming car. Upon re-entering the roadway and reaching 24 mph, the car display the same message and reduced speed to max of 12 mph and I was nearly rear-ended by the driver I entered the roadway in front of (with more than ample time and distance to safely reach the speed limit). After several more attempts, I placed hazards on and continued on side of roadway as far as possible. Drove to an AutoZone where they were able to scan my car and informed me that the code I received (have printed doc of code being thrown with date of incident from AutoZone) was very common in the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu's and he recommended that I see if I can return the car to the dealership (had just purchased less than 60 days prior with 78,000 miles on it).
ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND VEHICLE DISPLAYED " REDUCED ENGINE POWER". VEHICLE LOST ACCELERATION AND I HAD TO PULL TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER TURNING OFF VEHICLE, WAITING A MINUTE, AND RESTARTING VEHICLE IT RAN OK FOR 5 MINUTES. SOMETIMES IT RUNS LONGER BEFORE THE LIGHT COMES BACK ON AND I LOSE POWER AGAIN. THIS IS DANGEROUS!!!
16' CHEVY MALIBU, 170K MILES. REAR POPPING NOISE, BACK LEFT. HEARD A POP NOISE FROM BACK LEFT OF CAR AFTER LETTING OFF THE BRAKES FROM A STOPPED POSITION. TOOK THE LEFT REAR (LR) TIRE OFF AND FOUND LR BRAKE CALIPER PISTON TO HAVE FAILED AND WOULD NOT RESEED INTO CALIPER CAUSING POPPING NOISE. TOOK CAR TO PORTER CHEVROLET IN NEWARK, DE ON 1/20/21 FOR CALIPER REPLACEMENT AND THEY INFORMED ME THAT THE PART WAS ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER DUE TO MANY CARS BEING AFFECTED BY THE SAME ISSUE. I HAD PART ORDERED AND PICKED UP MY CAR UNTIL THE CALIPER COMES IN. WILL BRING CAR BACK TO PORTER WHEN PART COMES IN FOR REPLACEMENT AND HOPEFULLY RECALL CREDIT IN NEAR FUTURE. DO NOT LET DEALERSHIPS/ REPAIR SHOPS TELL YOU THAT IT IS THE REAR SHOCK! IT IS THE BRAKE CALIPER THAT IS MAKING THE POPPING NOISE.
SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK MY CAR WILL SUDDENLY GO INTO "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" MODE AND GO INTO LOW SPEED. IF I GET OUT OF THE CAR, LOCK IT, AND UNLOCK IT 30 SECONDS LATER IT WILL RESET AND THEN BE OKAY FOR A FEW MINUTES. THIS POWER REDUCTION IS EXCEEDINGLY DANGEROUS WHEN MOVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS AND SUDDENLY NEEDING TO PULL OVER. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL COME ON BUT THEN DISAPPEAR SOMETIMES THE SAME DAY AFTER HAVING PARKED FOR A WHILE. TYPICALLY THE CAR GOES INTO THIS "REDUCED POWER MODE" AFTER ABOUT 45 MINUTES OF DRIVING. I WAS ABLE TO CAPTURE THE FOLLOWING ERROR CODES: P1101 (INTAKE AIR FLOW SYSTEM PERFORMANCE), P2122 (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR D CIRCUIT LOW INPUT), AND P2138 (THROTTLE/PEDAL POSITION SENSOR/SWITCH D/E VOLTAGE CORRELATION). REALLY HOPING THIS WILL BE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY INSTEAD OF HAVING TO GET IT FIXED MYSELF!
MOST TIMES, WHEN I'M DONE DRIVING AND SHIFT MY CAR TO PARK A WARNING COMES UP MY DASH SAYING 'SHIFT TO PARK' EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. I THEN HAVE TO RESTART MY CAR, CHANGE THE GEARS AND HOPE IT DOESN'T GIVE ME THAT MESSAGE AGAIN. I OFTEN HAVE TO REPEAT THIS PROCESS 2-3 TIMES AFTER I'M DONE DRIVING AND ATTEMPTING TO PARK AND SHUT OFF MY CAR. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN EVERY TIME THAT I SHIFT MY CAR TO PARK AND TRY AND SHUT MY CAR OFF, BUT IT HAPPENS A LOT OF THE TIME. IT'S VERY FRUSTRATING AND TIME CONSUMING. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING ON AND OFF FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. MY SISTER ALSO HAS A 2016 MALIBU AND HERS IS DOING THE SAME EXACT THING.
ENGINE POWER REDUCED, THIS HAS HAPPENED COUNTLESS TIMES, SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN JANUARY 2017, IT HAS BEEN TO BRYNER CHEVROLET IN JENKINTOWN, PA, WHERE IT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED MORE TIMES, THAN I CAN COUNT. EACH REPAIT COSTING MORE AND MORE. I'M ASSUMING CHEVY IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO DIE, BEFORE THEY ACTUALLY FIX IT. IMAGINE BEING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY AND GOING FROM DOING 65 TO 20 UNEXPECTEDLY. THE PERSON BEHIND ME HAD TO SWERVE INTO ANOTHER LANE TO KEEP FROM REAR ENDING ME.
I NOTICED A WET SPOT BY THE 3 BREAK LIGHT INSIDE HEADLINER
I JUST EXPERIENCED THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON AND REDUCED POWER ALERT ON CHRISTMAS EVE: 12/24/20 THIS WAS SO SCARY ON HIGHWAY AND HAD TO DRIVE ON THE REDUCED POWER WITH MY FLASHERS ON AND TERRIFIED AS CAR'S WIZZED PAST ME! I WAS WORRIED THAT I WOULD BREAKDOWN AND COULDN'T GET HOME. I DID MAKE IT HOME AND WAS SHAKEN BY THE EXPERIENCE. I HAVE A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU AND THE DEALERSHIP QUOTED $350 TO FIX IT. IT IS STILL THERE AS DIDN'T HAVE FUNDS TO FIX IT. DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS AN ISSUE WITH GAS PEDAL NOT READING IN SYSTEM CORRECTLY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK BECAUSE IT HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY GOING 60 MPH, AND IT DROPPED SPEED TO 35 MPH! THIS IS SO DANGEROUS! ESPECIALLY BECAUSE IT HAPPENED AT NIGHT IN A SECLUDED AREA. THIS IS SUPER SCARY FOR A WOMAN DRIVER THINKING I WAS GOING TO BREAKDOWN AT ANY MOMENT. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING UBER SINCE COVID AND NO WORK AVAILABLE IN MY REGULAR JOB. SINCE I DON'T HAVE MY CAR, I CAN'T DRIVE TO MAKE ANY MONEY TO FIX IT. I WAS UNABLE TO WORK ON UBER'S BIGGEST NIGHT OF THE YEAR ON NEW YEAR'S EVE, LOSING OUT OF A $500 NIGHT. GM SHOULD PAY TO GET THIS FIXED AND FOR LOST REVENUE DUE TO UNABLE TO WORK.
WHEN THE CAR GOES INTO THE AUTO STOP MODE IT COMPLETELY DIES AND THE LIGHT. NO DASH LIGHTS, NO DOME LIGHT, NO HAZARD LIGHTS, LITERALLY NOTHING WORKS. WHEN PUT MY CAR IN PARK, A DISPLAY COMES ON THE DASHBOARD SAYING PUT CAR IN PARK. IT'S NOT RECOGNIZING THAT THE CAR IS IN PARK AND WON'T SHUT OFF! IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES WITH THE LASTED BEING 12/19/2020!
DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND THEN TAPPING THE BRAKE TO COME TO A STOP AT A RED LIGHT IT WILL AUTOMATICALLY GO INTO AUTO STOP AND THEN SHUT EVERYTHING OFF EVEN THOUGH THIS IS AN AUTOMATIC CAR TO RESTART THE CAR IT'S LIKE A STANDARD IT HAS TO ROLL BACKWARDS BEFORE YOU CAN GO FORWARDS, THE FUEL ISSUE IS I'VE ALREADY GONE THROUGH THREE TANKS OF GAS AND THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A GREAT CAR ON GAS ESPECIALLY ON THE HIGHWAY I'M BARELY GETTING A 150 FOR EACH FULL TANK OF GAS. THE 47 HW AND 27 CITY FOR GAS MILAGE IS MORE LIKE 27HW AND 10 CITY ....
OVER THE LAST 6 MONTHS WE HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY ON TWO OCCASIONS. EACH TIME THE ENTIRE CHARGING SYSTEM WAS CHECKED WITH NO FAULTS IDENTIFIED. RECENTLY, LAST 3 MONTHS, ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS VEHICLE WILL STALL WHILE IN MOTION. THIS HAS OCCURRED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS FROM ACCELERATING FROM A STOP TO AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WHEN VEHICLE STALLS ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VEHICLE IS DRAMATICALLY REDUCED; ESPECIALLY HAZARDOUS WHEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC. ON OTHER OCCASIONS ALL ACCESSORIES AC, RADIO, WIPER BLADES, ETC WILL ALL TURN OFF AND NOT RESTART UNTIL THE ENGINE IS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. ANOTHER FREQUENTLY REOCCURRING ISSUE IS THE SOUND YOU NORMALLY HEAR WHEN A TURN SIGNAL IS ENGAGED WILL STOP - THIS USUALLY PRECEDES THE ENGINE STALLING. ON MOST OF THESE OCCASIONS THE ENGINE WILL RESTART - TWICE IT REQUIRED A JUMP START. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS WE RECEIVE VARIOUS FAULT LIGHTS/MESSAGES THAT TOO WERE UNFOUNDED. MOST FREQUENT REFERENCING THE STABILITY TRACKING. RESTART THE ENGINE AND FAULT IS CLEARED ONLY TO RETURN AT LATER TIME. ALL OF THESE ISSUES ARE EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS AND PLACES MY FAMILY AND I IN DANGER EACH TIME WE OPERATE THE VEHICLE. ALTHOUGH THERE ARE NUMEROUS WRITE UPS DETAILING THIS SYSTEMIC PROBLEM WITH MULTIPLE YEARS OF THE CHEVY MALIBU GMC AND CHEVY WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THE PROBLEMS AND CONTINUE TO LEVY CHARGES AND COLLECT MONIES FROM OWNERS FOR WHAT PROBABLY SHOULD RESULT IN A RECALL IN ORDER TO AFFECT REQUISITE REPAIRS.
WHEN AUTO-STOPPED THE ENTIRE CAR SHUTS DOWN. IT TURNS COMPLETELY OFF AND STARTS MOVING BACKWARDS BEFORE TURNING BACK ON. A DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED A PROBLEM WITH THE POWER SUPPLY TRANSFORMER AND BATTERY CURRENT SENSOR CIRCUIT. THEY ARE ERODED I BELIEVE. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS ANYTIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED - AT STOP SIGNS AND LIGHTS.
WHEN THE VEHICLE COMES TO A STOP AT A LIGHT, THE VEHICLE SHUTS OFF WHILE IN DRIVE, HOWEVER THE LIGHTS & RADIO REMAIN ON IN THE CAR & THE START BUTTON STILL SHOWS THE CAR AS 'ON'. THE ENGINE WILL NOT REV & THE CAR WILL NOT MOVE FORWARD WHEN IN DRIVE. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE CAR OFF THEN ON AGAIN, THE CAR WILL NOT RESTART WITHOUT A JUMP. WHEN ATTEMPTING TO CUT THE CAR ON WITHOUT A JUMP, THE DOORS LOCK & UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN AND ALL OF THE LIGHTS IN THE CAR, ALONG WITH THE LIGHTS ON THE DASH, FLICKER ON & OFF AND THERE IS A CLICKING NOISE BUT THE CAR DOESN'T CUT ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND CEASED AND FAILED TO RELEASE FROM THE FLOORBOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS SYSTEM WAS FAULTY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO GEORGE NUNNALLY CHEVROLET LOCATED AT 2700 SE. MOBERLY LN, BENTONVILLE, AR 72712, WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
WHEN I COME TO A STOP AND SHIFT MY 30K MILES 2016 MALIBU INTO "PARK", I SOMETIMES GET A MESSAGE ON THE DASH: "SHIFT TO PARK". THE "P" FOR "PARK" IS LIT NEAR THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE CAR IS IN PARK. BUT, MY HEADLIGHTS STAY ON AND I CAN'T LOCK MY CAR, BECAUSE THE VEHICLE COMPUTER THINKS THE CAR IS NOT IN "PARK". I LOCK THE DOORS WITH THE SWITCH ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR, BUT THE CAR UNLOCKS IMMEDIATELY. SOMETIMES, THE SITUATION CLEARS UP BY REPEATEDLY STARTING/SHIFTING/BRAKING/TURNING OFF THE CAR. THE PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT, BUT GETTING WORSE.
WHILE ON MY WAY TO WORK MON MORNING FOR THE 5 OR 6 TIME THE ENERGY REDUCTION LIGHT CAME ON IM THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY ALMOST CAUSES ME TO GET REAR ENDED IN THE ROAD I QUICKLY TURNED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON TO KEEP FROM BEING HIT PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF AND CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY TELL ME ITS A RECALL ON THE VEHICLES THERES NOTHING THEY CAN DO FOR ME TO CONTACT THE GMC DEALERSHIPS I PAY ALMOST 500 ON CAR PAYMENTS TO BE EXPERIENCING THIS DANGEROUS ON THE HIGHWAY SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY HURT I NEED HELP WITH THIS PROBLEM.
CAR STALLED AFTER AUTO STOP WHILE TRYING TO EXCELERATE. ERROR MESSAGE SAYING EMISSIONS CONTROL. MECHANIC STATED THAT IT WAS UNKNOWN AND POSSIBLE A RECALL. HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES.
MY CAN SAYS "SHIFT TO PARK" WHEN THE AUTOMOBILE IS ALREADY IN PARK. IT WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO LOCK THE DOORS OR TURN OFF THE DRIVING LIGHTS.
WHILE DRIVING EVERYTHING IS FINE, AS SOON AS I STOP AND PUT MY CAR IN PARK IT WILL SHOW AN INDICATION TO (PUT THE CAR IN PARK). I CAN LITERALLY SPEND 30 MINUTES JIGGLING THE SHIFTER BACK AND FORTH UNTIL THAT NOTIFICATION GOES AWAY. IF I DON'T MAKE IT GO AWAY, ALL THE LIGHTS STAY ON AND MY CAR WILL BEEP AT ME ONCE I CLOSE THE DOORS, THE DOORS WILL ALSO NOT LOCK DUE TO THIS. SO SPENDING 30 MINUTES TO MAKE IT GO AWAY SO IT DOESN'T KILL THE BATTERY AFTER A 12HOUR WORK SHIFT IS ALL I CAN DO.
THE HEADLIGHTS CONSTANT COMES ON AND BLINKS ON AND OFF AND WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT UNLOCKS THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR I HAVE BEEN SITTING IN THE CAR WITH THE ENGINE OFF AND CAN HEAR THE FLICKERING OF THE LOCK JUST THE OTHER DAY I LOCKED THE DOOR MANUALLY IT UNLOCKED BY ITSELF THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IT ACTUALLY LOCK.I HAVE HAD TO LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY FOR SOME TIME NOW. BACK IN OCTOBER 2020 IT WAS KILLING MY BATTERY CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO GET A BOOST CONSTANTLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS THE ONSTAR SYSTEM AND I PAYED TO HAVE IT REMOVED AND STILL THE PROBLEM STILL IS THERE. BATTERY WAS STILL DYING DUE TO THE LIGHTS COMING ON AT ANY GIVEN TIME AND DRAINING THE BATTERY. I DECIDED TO BUY ANOTHER BATTERY NO LONGER NEED A BOOST BUT THE LIGHT PROBLEM STILL REMAINS AN ISSUE
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY TODAY WHEN I HEARD A LOUD POP AND MY SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY EXPLODED. IT WAS AFTER THE EXPLOSION THAT SMALL SHARDS OF GLASS STARTED TO RAIN DOWN ON US. WHEN I LOOKED UP THE ENTIRE SUNROOF WAS SHATTERED. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE INSIDE SUN SHADE CLOSED BEFORE ANYONE WAS INJURED. I LOOKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS ANY EVIDENCE OF ANYTHING HITTING THE CAR, HOWEVER THERE WAS NONE. THE SUNROOF WAS IN THE CLOSED POSITION WHEN IT EXPLODED.
"SHIFT TO PARK" ISSUE ON DIC WHEN VEHICLE ACTUALLY IS IN PARK, AS INDICATED BY THE SHIFTER LIGHT AND EVEN ON THE DIC, BUT THE VEHICLE WILL NOT SHUT DOWN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FULLY. YOU CAN NOT EVEN LOCK THE DOORS, THE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEMS WILL NOT ENGAGE, AND THE BATTERY WILL DISCHARGE OVERNIGHT. THE MANUAL CLEARLY STATES THAT IF THE VEHICLE IS NOT PROPERLY IN PARK WHEN TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE, IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT MUST BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. BUT IT IS NOT, EITHER BY GM OR THE NHTSA.
ON THE BOTH BACK SIDE, WHERE THE SEAT BELTS ARE NEXT TO SMALL WINDOWAND TOP PART OF ROOF WATERBIS LEAKING IN WHEN I WASH MY CAR AND MAYBE EVEN WHEN IT RAINS. THERE PROBABLY MILDEW, AND RUST. ALSO WHEN I PARK MY CAR THE WARNING LIGHT SAYS PUT CAR IN PARK, BUT ITS IN PARK.

THE OWNER WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BY THE DEALER AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

WHEN I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK IT DOES NOT REGISTER THAT IT IS PARK AND A 'SHIFT INTO PARK' ERROR COMES UP. EVERYTHING STAYS ON IN THE CAR AND THE BATTERY DRAINS IF IT'S NOT CORRECTED. IT CAN TAKE SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO GET IT TO RECOGNIZE IT IS IN PARK. MUST KEEP TURNING THE CAR IN AND OFF UNTIL IT SENSES IT'S IN PARK. IT HAS TAKEN UP TO 10 TIMES UNTIL IT FINALLY SENSES IT.
WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WADE AN ABNORMAL GRINDING SOUND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT EXTRA EFFORT WAS NEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL. WHEN PARKING MY VEHICLE IN PARK, IT WILL NOT NOTICE THE CAR IS PARKED AND THE ON LIGHT WILL COME ON. I HAVE TO WIGGLE THE SHIFTER FOR THE ON LIGHT TO GO OFF. THE SHIFTER WAS REPLACED BEFORE, NOW IT'S DOING THE SAME ISSUES AS BEFORE.. AND THE BACK END IS MAKING A VERY BAD BUMPING NOISE. THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP SAY THAT THEY REPLACED PARTS AND IT'S DOING THE SAME THING. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH THIS CAR AT ALL.
I FIRST NOTICED THE PROBLEM ON MY 2016 MALIBU LS WHEN GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH. I'M NOT SURE WHEN EXACTLY THE ISSUE HAPPENED, BUT ACCORDING TO THE BODY SHOP IT APPEARS TO BE FAULTY DESIGNING. THE WATER AND CHEMICALS WERE LEAKING AT THE REAR WINDOW. HEAVY RAINS WOULD ALSO RESULT IN THE CAR LEAKING NON-STOP. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THE FOUND THAT THE THIRD BRAKE LIGHT WAS NOT SECURED FULLY AND WATER WAS SPILLING THROUGH THERE. APPARENTLY IT WAS LOSE TO THE POINT WHERE IT DIDN'T TAKE MUCH TO TAKE THE LIGHT OUT. I WAS INFORMED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR OTHER YEARS BUT MY CAR WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. IF THE PROBLEM EXISTED WITH MY CAR I'M SURE OTHERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. WATER WAS ALSO GETTING INTO THE TRUNK AND NOW I HAVE A HUGE MOLD/MILDEW PROBLEM. ADDITIONALLY, THEY FIRST THOUGHT THE LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE SIDE PANEL WINDOWS AS THE ADHESIVE TO PUT THOSE WINDOWS IN WAS FAULTY.

I TOWED IT TO GM DEALERSHIP THEY ARE TRYING TO SELL ME A MOTOR AND WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE, PEDAL PROBLEM BECAUSE THERE IS NO RECALL ONLY SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #N192188250 GLOBAL SAFETY FIELD INVESTIGATION DCS5117 GLOBAL WARRANTY.

THE MAIN REAR WINDOW DIDN'T HAVE A PROPER SEAL. ON BOTH SIDES IN THE CORNERS OF THE REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE, THERE IS A LEAKAGE. EVERY TIME IT RAINS, YOU CAN SEE WATER DAMAGE. YOU CAN ALSO SEE THE AFTER EFFECTS OF THE CEILING BEING STAINED. REALIZED THIS AFTER IT RAINED WHILE I WAS DRIVING.
WHILE STATIONARY, AND READY TO SHUT OFF CAR, GET A MESSAGE TO SHIFT THE CAR TO PARK BUT IT ALREADY IS IN PARK. CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF. HAVE TO KEEP MESSING WITH SHIFTER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE CAN FINALLY TURN CAR OFF. THIS HAPPENED CONSTANTLY. TOOK CAR TO DEALER, PROBLEM DIAGNOSED AS TRANSMISSION SHIFTER CONTROL PROBLEM AND I HAD TO PAY $445.08 TO FIX. SUPPOSEDLY CHEVROLET RECOGNIZED THE PROBLEM IN JULY 2019 BEFORE THIS STARTED HAPPENING TO ME AND ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (I THINK NO. 18-NA-297) BUT THERE WAS NO RECALL DONE. MY POINT IS, IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT AND POSSIBILITY OF FIRE, IT IS A SAFETY PROBLEM IF THE CAR CANNOT BE TURNED OFF QUICKLY. SO WHY DIDN'T THIS PROBLEM DESERVE TO MERIT A RECALL AND FREE REPAIRS?
SECOND TIME IN LESS THEN A YEAR I HAVE TO TAKE MY CAR INTO THE REPAIR SHOP FOR THIS ISSUE. I WILL PUT MY CAR IN PARK, TURN OFF THE CAR AND A NOTIFICATION COMES ON THE SCREEN THAT STATES 'SHIFT TO PARK' I HAVE TO REPEATEDLY START MY CAR, SHIFT TO REVERSE THEN BACK TO PARK AND THEN SHUT OFF MY CAR UNTIL THE MESSAGE DOESN'T APPEAR. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE YET A RECALL HAS NOT BEEN ANNOUNCED.
