REDUCE ENGINE POWER
CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF. EVEN AFTER I PUT THE CAR IN PARKING POSITION - THERE IS AN ERROR THAT COMES UP WHEN I TRY TO TURN THE CAR OFF USING THE ON/OFF BUTTON. THE ERROR MESSAGE IS 'SHIFT TO PARK' EVEN WHEN THE CAR IS IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME WHEN I TURN OFF THE CAR. I WOULD SHIFT THE GEAR MULTIPLE TIMES BACK AND FORTH TILL I CAN GET IT TO TURN OFF BUT NOW ITS GETTING WORSE.
WHEN I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TRY TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE, THE ENGINE WILL NOT SHUT OFF. IT KEEPS RUNNING. IT APPEARS THAT THE VEHICLE DOES NOT KNOW IT IS IN PARK. THE VEHICLE IS STATIONARY BUT KEEPS ON RUNNING. *TR
REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING
I PURCHASED 2016 MALIBU 10/2016 AND AFTER HAVING THE CAR FOR 6MONTHS THE CHECK ENGINE/REDUCE SPEED LIGHTS STARTING COMING ON. I HAVE TAKEN IT BACK OVER 20TIMES AND THE ISSUES WAS NEVER FIXED. I ASK COULD THEY JUST REPLACE THE CALL SINCE THEY ARE NOT ABLE TO FIXED IT. SO, AND STILL HAVING THIS ISSUES. GM EXTENDED THE RECALL AND I TOOK IT BACK IN YESTERDAY MARCH 18, 2020. I WAS TOLD THAT MY CAR WAS FIXED AND TO PICK IT UP. SO, I GET THERE DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT THE LOT. SO, I RETURN BACK TO THE SERVICE DESK AND I WAS TOLD MY TRANSMISSION IS GOING OUT. SO I ASK WHY THIS ISN'T ON MY SERVICE SHEET I WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS WIPED OUT AND THAT I HAD TO REQUEST IT. PUTTING ME BACK IN DANGER. THIS HAS BEEN A HEADACHE. I FILE A LEMON LAW COMPLAINT AND THEY OFFER MY 4500 AND I OWE 18,000 ON A CAR THAT HAVE BEEN GIVING ME ISSUES FROM THE DAY ONE. GM OFFERING TO SETTLE OUT FOR 4500 IS ADMITTING FOUGHT
WHILE DRIVING MY RADIO TURNED OFF SEVERAL TIMES, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. A MESSAGE SAYING LOW ENGINE POWER CAME ON SEVERAL TIMES AND STARTED TO GO SLOW WHILE IN MOTION.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCING AND THE CAR DROPPED SPEED ON THE HIGHWAY TO 15MPH AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK. NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON SINCE THEN. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN AND OUT THE SHOP SINCE I BROUGHT IT BRAND NEW 0 MILES FOR SOME TYPE OF ENGINE RELATED FAILURE, SENSORS ETC. MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED AND NOW I AM FORCED TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR MAINTENCE.
Purchased vehicle from Car Key Autoplex at 13546 Method St, Dallas TX 75243 (214) 210-9998 in March 2020. Vehicle was involved in previous wreck and owner purchased this vehicle and made repairs. Repairs were verified cause the air bag light stopped coming on. In December 2021 vehicle was involved in a wreck. Auto body shop looked into replacing seat belts. Noticed that seat belts had deployed, one of the seat belts was the wrong one for the vehicle as well as an incorrectly installed bolt for the SRS. Had to replace both seat belts and pretensioners and airbag control module installed ($2,250). Then the auto body shop noticed that pigtails were missing and spliced together. Had this fixed at a dealership for $1,800 along with programming of the airbag control module to the vehicle. Owner of Car Key Autoplex said that vehicle was repaired 100% when it wasn’t. He committed fraud and sold us a vehicle that was unsafe for the road and cost me over $4,000 to fix all of this.
THIRD REAR BRAKE LIGHT LEAKS/ALLOWS WATER INTO INSIDE OF CAR AND FRAME CRACKS ON BOTH SIDES. WATER LEAKS INTO HEADLINER AND TRUNK AND STAINS INTERIOR. CAR SMILES HUMID. HAPPENS VERY TIME IT RAINS AND WASH CAR. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FIRST TIME PARTS WERE REPLACED, SECOND PARTS STILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND ISSUE STILL OCCURS. POOR QUALITY PARTS.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH THIS VEHICLE. AFTER ARRIVING AT MY DESTINATION, I PARKED MY CAR AND SHIFTED TO PARK. UPON TURNING THE CAR OFF, AN ERROR MESSAGE APPEARS DIRECTING ME TO "SHIFT TO PARK." THE CAR ONLY HAS 56000 MILES. THIS HAS BEEN FIXED PREVIOUSLY (CAR HAD ALMOST 40000 MILES AT THE FIRST OCCURENCE) AND NOW IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. VERY FRUSTRATING. THE CAR WILL NOT ALLOW YOU TO FULLY TURN THE CAR OFF WITH THIS ERROR MESSAGE AND IF YOU GET OUT AND SHUT THE DOOR, THE CAR ACTS AS IF IT IS STILL RUNNING BY HONKING AND NOT ALLOWING YOU TO LOCK YOUR VEHICLE.
I WAS DRIVING AND MY CAR HAD A MESSAGE THAT SAID ENGINE POWER REDUCING AND THE CAR DROPPED SPEED DRASTICALLY ON THE HIGHWAY AND ALMOST CAUSED A WRECK AND NOW MY ENGINE LIGHT IS ON SINCE THEN.
EVERY COUPLE MONTHS I WILL BE DRIVING MY 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT WILL SUDDENLY WARN ME THAT THE ENGINE POWER HAS BEEN REDUCED. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL ILLUMINATE AND THE CAR WILL DROP FORM 50-7MPH TO ABOUT 20-30MPH. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND CODE ALWAYS DISAPPEAR BEFORE I CAN GET IT REPAIRED, BUT THE PROBLEM KEEPS OCCURRING AND IS INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY CEASED IN THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE AND THEN TO KINGDOM CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (6603 S. WESTERN AVE, CHICAGO, IL 60636 (773) 432-3000) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE DIAGNOSED BY ANOTHER DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE I-10 WEST HIGHWAY AT 70MPH WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN A ENGINE POWER REDUCED MESSAGE CAME ACROSS THE SCREEN & DUE TO THE LOSS OF ACCELERATION I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY AN 18 WHEELER BECAUSE I COULDN'T PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD FAST ENOUGH...ALSO, ON SOME DAYS WHEN I START MY CAR IT DOESN'T MAKE ANY NOISE SO THEREFORE THE RADIO WILL NOT WORK, THE SIGNAL LIGHT SOUNDS DOESN'T WORK, NOR DOES THE SEATBELT SOUNDS WORK .
I PURCHASED MY CAR IN 2017 AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE MY PEDAL SENSOR NOW WHAT WILL BE 3 TIMES. EVERY TIME I HAD THE PEDAL SENSOR REPLACED IT WAS DUE TO A MESSAGE 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' THAT WOULD COME UP ON THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR WOULD LOSE POWER VERY QUICKLY WHETHER I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY OR MAIN STREETS WHICH WOULD REQUIRE ME TO PULL OVER IMMEDIATELY TO TURN THE CAR OFF AND THEN TURN IT BACK ON. SOMETIMES THE MESSAGE WOULD CLEAR OUT, BUT NOT TOO MUCH LONGER WHILE DRIVING, THE MESSAGE WOULD POP BACK UP AND I WOULD LOSE POWER AGAIN. EACH TIME THAT I HAD TO REPLACE THIS PART, IT WAS NEVER COVERED UNDER MY WARRANTY. THIS DEFECT IS BEYOND DANGEROUS AND CAN CAUSE HARM NOT JUST TO THE DRIVER, BUT OTHERS ON THE ROAD AS WELL. THE CAR'S ENGINE POWER REDUCES TO 20-25MPH FROM 60-70MPH IN A MATTER OF SECONDS WHICH COULD HAVE CAUSED ME CAUSE TO BE REAR ENDED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED TO PARK, THEN THE MESSAGE SHIFT TO PARK APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO RYDELL CHEVROLET LOCATED AT (18600 DEVONSHIRE ST, NORTHRIDGE, CA 91324), TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,000.
THE CAR WAS DRIVING AT A HIGH SPEED AND THEN SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN DRAMATICALLY. AN ERROR CODE, ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, CAME ON STARTING REDUCED ENGINE SPEED. THE CAR IS NOT ABLE TO SPEED UP AT ALL. THIS HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS.
MY MALIBU LS HAS 28000 MILES I JUST PURCHASED FROM A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. I FIRST NOTICED ONE POP WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT A VERY LOW SPEED, THEN NOTICED WHEN I WOULD ACCELERATE FROM A RED LIGHT IT WOULD POP. WHEN IT IS WARMER OUTSIDE IT IS ALMOST EVERYTIME I STOP AND GO. I CAN ALSO LAY DOWN THE BACK SEATS AND PUT WEIGHT IN THE TRUNK AND YOU CAN HEAR THE POPPING NOISE. EVERYTIME ITS JUST ONE LOUD POP WHEN SOMEONE IS SITTING IN THE BACK SEAT YOU CAN ALSO HEAR IT.
DRIVING AT 65 MPH, CAR FLASHED WARNING OF "DECREASING ENGINE POWER." CAR BEGAN TO SLOW TO A SPEED OF BETWEEN 20-30 MPH. THIS OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING ON THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE WITH MANY LARGE TRUCKS AND OTHER VEHICLES BEHIND ME. SOME HAD TO SWERVE TO MISS HITTING ME UNTIL I COULD FIND A SAFE SHOULDER TO GET THE CAR OFF OF THE ROAD.
ENGINE POWER REDUCED. CAR SUDDENLY SLOWED DOWN ON FREEWAY
WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY OR THE STREETS THE VEHICLE LOOSES POWER. A DASHBOARD LIGHT COMES ON ALONG WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND THE DASHBOARD SAYS ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. THIS CAUSES THE CAR TO DROP SPEED AND LOSE POWER. IT REALLY UNSAFE AS TWICE I'VE ALMOST BEEN REAR ENDED.
I HAVE TWO PROBLEMS WITH THIS VEHICLE, FIRST IS THE ENGINE POWER REDUCE THING WHICH HAPPENED SO MANY TIMES WITH THIS CAR. SECOND IS THE SHIFT TO PARK PROBLEM THAT HAS BEEN APPEARING IN MY DASHBOARD FOR MONTHS NOW..
SHIFT TO PARK ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN BY CHEVROLET SERVICE DEPT AND I HAVE CHECKED OTHER FORUMS. WHEN YOU SHIFT CAR TO PARK AND TRY TO TURN OFF THE CAR, IT TELLS YOU TO SHIFT TO PARK. THE CAR WON'T SHUT OFF. I HAD TO SHIFT BACK AND FORTH QUITE A FEW TIMES FOR IT TO FINALLY WORK. SERVICE REPLACED THE "HARNESS" FOR ROUGHLY $100 WHICH WORKED TEMPORARILY BUT STARTED IN AGAIN. SO NEW SHIFTER HAS BEEN ORDERED AT COST OF APPROX $350. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THERE HASN'T BEEN A RECALL WITH ALL THE PROBLEMS THEY HAVE HAD. MINE IS A 2016 WITH VERY LOW MILES. THEY HAVE LOTS OF PROBLEMS WITH '16, '17 AND SOME '18. I HATE FIXING AGAIN AND HAVE IT HAPPEN IN ANOTHER 20K MILES..... RECALL PLEASE?!?! *TR
INCIDENT HAS HAPPENED TWICE WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY. ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THEN RECEIVED AN ERROR MESSAGE OF "ENGINE POWER REDUCED". ENGINE POWER AND ACCELERATION WAS REDUCED DRAMATICALLY. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS BEHIND ME OR I MAY HAVE BEEN REAR ENDED AND INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. I PULLED OFF ON SHOULDER AND TURNED CAR OFF AND THEN TURNED CAR BACK ON AND ENGINE POWER AND ACCELERATION WAS RESTORED. ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON THOUGH.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE FIRST THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND I GOT A DIAGNOSTICS IT WAS THE MASS AIR FLOW SENSOR CODE COMING UP. I HAD THE THOTLE CLEANED.... THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT OFF 2 DAYA LATER. THEN I WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY AND THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON ALONG WITH THE MESSAGE ENGINE REDUCE POWER. I PULLED OVER SHUT THE CAR OFF FOR 10 SECONDS , START IT AGAIN AND DRIVE IT. IT DOES IT ON A DAILY NOW. AND IM TIRED OF IT THIS IS A BRAND NEW CAR. I GOT IT AT 28,000 MILES IT IS NOW AT 53,000 MILES. CHEVROLET KNOW THAT THIS PROBLEM IS GOING ON WITH MANY OF THE MAILIBUS THEY NEED TO FIX IT. I JUST SPENT 1,100 ON THIS CAR FOR THE REPAIRS
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SPEED LIMIT WAS 70MPH I WAS GOING THAT SPEED THEN OUT OF NOWHERE I GOT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND A NOTICE ON MY DASH APPEARED AS 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' AND MY SPEED DRASTICALLY DECLINED I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED BY A SEMI TRUCK, I HAD PEOPLE IN THE BACK OF MY CAR AND WITH AN IMPACT FROM A TRAILER WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. THIS A REOCCURRING PROBLE WITH MALIBU'S FROM THE YEAR 2016-2019 GM KNOWS ABOUT THE ISSUE BUT HAS DONE NOTHING TO RESOLVE IT. THIS ISSUE NOT ONLY PUTS THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE IN HARM BUT OTHERS AROUND AS WELL. THE PROBLEM IS THE THROTTLE BODY RESPONSE SENSOR WHICH IS ABOUT A $300-$500 FIX WHICH IS NOT AN CHEAP FIX. THEY NEED TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS BECAUSE ONE DAY THIS COULD HAPPEN TO ANYBODY WITH THIS TYPE OF CAR AND IT CAN KILL SOMEONE.
MY 2016 CHEVY MALIBU COMPLETELY LOST POWER TWICE ON 2/6/2020. THE ENGINE SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN. THE FIRST INCIDENT HAPPENED WHILE WAITING IN THE PICK UP LINE AT MY DAUGHTERS SCHOOL WHICH IS IN A PARKING LOT FULL OF KIDS. THE CAR JUST SHUT COMPLETELY DOWN WHILE IN DRIVE. IT ACTUALLY DIED. NO INSTRUMENT PANEL ON, NO RADIO ON, NO HEAT. I HAD TO PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN PUSH THE PEDAL ALONG WITH THE PUSH TO START BUTTON TO RESTART THE CAR. THE SECOND INCIDENT HAPPENED ABOUT 15 TO 20 MINUTES LATER WHILE I WAS STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. ONCE AGAIN THE CAR WAS IN DRIVE AND JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. THE SAME THING HAPPENED AS THE FIRST INCIDENT BUT THIS TIME I AM IN HEAVY TRAFFIC DURING THE TIME WHEN KID'S ARE RELEASED FROM SCHOOL AND PEOPLE IN GENERAL ARE MOVING AROUND THE CITY. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED DURING A HEAVY SNOW HERE IN MY STATE. FOR A PERSON DRIVING UP BEHIND ME I'M SITTING THERE WITH NO LIGHTS ON AT A NOW GREEN TRAFFIC LIGHT IN UNSAFE WEATHER CONDITIONS. VEHICLES WERE BLOWING AND GOING AROUND US TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I HAD TO ACT FAST FOR OUR SAFETY ALONG WITH THE OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD. MY DAUGHTER AND MYSELF WERE SCARED OF BEING IN AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TOMORROW 2/7/2020 AT A GENERAL MOTORS DEALERSHIP TO LOOK INTO THE PROBLEM.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK THIS MORNING, AND THE SPEED OF THE CAR SLOWED DOWN AND WOULDN'T GO FASTER THAN 20 MILES PER HOUR. THERE WAS PLENTY OF CARS BEHIND ME MAKING THE SUDDEN DROP OF SPEED UNSAFE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE THROTTLE, AND THAT IT'S NOT COVERED BY MY WARRANTY. I HAVE HEARD IT'S COMMON IN 2016 MALIBU'S. I HAVEN'T HAD THIS CAR THAT LONG, AND IS CURRENTLY BEING WORKED ON.
The contact owns a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu equipped with Michelin Tires, Tire Line: The Defender, Tire size: 205/65/R16, and DOT number: B5EV01TX4919. The contact stated that the tire tread was worn in an untimely manner. The contact stated that the tires were replaced two years ago. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the quality of the tires was of a different material. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where service was denied due to the tires still having half the tread. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact of the warranty. The failure mileage was 68,618.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES UP AND THEN SAYS ENGINE POWER REDUCED. CANNOT ACCELERATE AT THAT TIME. IT HAPPENS WHEN I AM ON THE INTERSTATE AND SPEED REDUCES UNSAFELY. I HAVE TO FIND A PLACE TO PULL OVER AND TURN CAR OFF AND RESTART. THIS HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES.
WHEN I PLACE THE CAR IN PARK AND HIT THE BUTTON TO TURN THE CAR OFF IT KEEPS TELLING ME THE SHIFT TO PARK WHEN THE CAR IS OFF. I WILL HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND ON MULTIPLE TIMES TO GET THE MESSAGE TO STOP SHOWING UP. I WILL HAVE TO SHIFT IT TO DRIVE AND PARK MULTIPLE TIMES AS WELL TO GET THE MESSAGE TO GO AWAY. PASSENGER SIDE HEAD LIGHT WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING THEN CAME BACK ON A COUPLE OF WEEKS LATER. TWO WEEKS LATER DRIVER SIDE LIGHT WENT OUT. TWO WEEKS AFTER THAT BOTH LIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING EVEN HIGHBEAMS NOT FUNCTIONAL WHILE DRIVING. ALL LIGHTS NOT FUNCTIONAL AT THE MOMENT.
WHILE DRIVING TO MY JOB AND I PRESSED ON THE PEDAL BRAKE, IT FELT LIKE THE BRAKES WAS HAVING TROUBLE TO BRAKE SO I HAD TO BRAKE HARD AND DRIVE CAREFULLY. IT WOULD MAKE A SOUND WHEN I WOULD PRESS DOWN ON THE PEDAL. TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC AND HE TOLD ME THAT THE ABS IS BROKEN AND THAT'S WHAT GIVING ME A HARD TIME TO BRAKE. HE CHECKED ALL OF MY BRAKES ARE STILL GOOD AND NOTHING WRONG WITH THEM.
WHEN I PARK THE CAR PUT SHIFT INTO PARK, A MESSAGE COMES UP SAYING: SHIFT INTO PARK WHEN I HAVE ALREADY SHIFTED TO PARK, SO I START THE CAR AND SHIFT INTO PARK AND THE MESSAGE GOES OFF AND SOMETIME I HAVE TO DO REPEAT THE PROCEDURE.
MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON & I RECEIVED AN ALERT STATING THAT MY ENGINE POWER HAD BEEN REDUCED WHILE DRIVING. THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE.
WHILE DRIVING, THE CAR SUDDENLY FLASHED THE "REDUCED ENGINE SPEED" MESSAGE, AND THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH AFTER THE MESSAGE CAME ON. THE EARLIEST DEALERSHIP APPOINTMENT WAS FOR 1/20/20 IN A CITY APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES AWAY; I CALLED THE CHEVROLET WARRANTY LINE AND WAS ADVISED TO TRY CALLING OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND TAKE MY VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED THERE, DESPITE MY REPEATED EXPLANATIONS OF THE SAFETY RISK DUE TO THE ENGINE FAILURE. I RECEIVED MY CAR BACK TODAY (1/22/20) AND WAS TOLD THE ACCELERATOR WIRING WAS REPLACED UNDER A "SPECIAL" WARRANTY EXTENSION AND THAT THEY ARE NOT PROVIDING THE WARRANTY RENTAL CAR COVERAGE.
WHEN PUTTING THE CAR IN PARK AND TURNING OFF THE ENGINE, THE MESSAGE "SHIFT TO PARK" DISPLAYS IN THE DASHBOARD. THE CAR'S DOORS WILL NOT LOCK AND THE ELECTRONICS REMAIN ACTIVE. WE CANNOT PROPERLY SECURE THE CAR AND THE ACTIVE ELECTRONICS WILL DRAIN THE BATTERY. ATTACHED IS THE GM SERVICE BULLETIN DESCRIBING THE ISSUE. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE $621.77 AND IT'S NOT COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY.
MY ELECTRONIC CONTROL SYSTEM IS MISFIRING FOR A FEW DAYS NOW. IT IS CAUSING MY STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT TO COME IN AND ALSO MY ENGINE LIGHT. WHEN THE STABILITY LIGHT COMES ON MY CAR SHAKES A LITTLE BIT WHILE DRIVING. I PUT MY VEHICLE ON A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE CODES CAME BACK THAT THE ECM IS MISFIRING
MY STABILITY TRACK LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON FOR 2 DAYS NOW AND IT IS NOW CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO SHAKE WHEN I AM DRIVING IT. I AM DEFINITELY CONCERNED BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THE LIGHT CAME ON ONCE LAST MONTH AS WELL, BUT NOW THE LIGHT IS APPEARING MORE FREQUENTLY.
THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CENSOR IS FAULTY AND CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO START TO POWER DOWN. THIS COMMON IN MANY CHEVROLET MODELS FROM THE IMPALA, TO THE MALIBU AND CRUZE.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS BLINKS ON AND OFF CAR DEFECTS AS IF IT WILL CUT OFF FOUND OUT ITS THE PISTON AND THROTTLE BODY FROM FIELDSMAN CHEVROLET NOW IM OUT OF A CAR WITH NO LOANER CAR BECAUSE THEY ARE BACKED THIS CAR WAS CALLED FOR RECALL FOR THESE REPAIRS
ON JAN 6 2020. I WAS DRIVING A 2016 CHEVY MALIBU, WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND ENGINE REDUCE POWER LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OVER AND LET THE CAR SEAT FOR MAYBE 10 MINS. I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND BEGIN DRIVING AGAIN (IT WAS PULLING NORMAL). ABOUT 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN AND THE CAR STOP PULLING AND THE REDUCE ENGINE POWER LIGHT COMES ON WHICH LEAVES ME IN THE MIDDLE OF A INTERSECTION SECTION CAUSING A VEHICLE COMING FROM MY RIGHT SIDE TO SLAM INTO THE SIDE OF VEHICLE DEPLOYING ALL OF MY AIRBAGS AND MAKING ON-STAR ASSISTANCE COME ON. IN THE RESULT I HAVE NECK, BACK AND SIDE INJURY FROM THE IMPACT. WHICH IN THE RESULT I'M GETTING SUED BECAUSE MY CAR STALLED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TURN GOING LEFT. MY CAR WAS TOTALED OUT AND MY INSURANCE DON'T WANT TO PAY THE FULL VALUE OF WHAT I WAS LEASING IT FOR. WHICH I HAVE TO COME OUT THE POCKET WITH EXPENSES. AFTER REVIEWING THE "ENGINE REDUCE POWER" AND DOING MY RESEARCH I COME TO FIND OUT IT HAS BEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS. I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE!
I HAVE NOTICED A POPPING NOISE ON THE BACK END OF MY CAR FOR OVER A YEAR NOW. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED MY CAR. I WENT ABOUT 3 TO 4 TIMES BY THE TIME THEY COULD HEAR WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. IN JUNE 2020 THEY INSTALLED WASHERS TO PREVENT CONTACT FROM THE STRUT. THAT DID NOT WORK. WHEN I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS STILL MAKING THAT SOUND. IT SEEMS TO BE LOUDER WHEN DRIVING SLOW OR WHEN IT HEATS UP OUTSIDE LATER ON IN THE DAY. IT ALSO MAKES THAT POPPING NOISE WHEN I TAKE MY FOOT OFF BRAKE AT A STOP LIGHT BEFORE I ACCELERATE. IT MAKES THE POPPING NOISE SOMETIMES WHEN I SIT DOWN IN THE CAR. ONE DAY I WAS BOUNCING IN THE DRIVER SEAT TO SEE IF I COULD DUPLICATE THE SOUND AND IT WAS POPPING LOUDLY.
SO I FEEL LIKE THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL IF I HAD TO READ A LOT OF STORIES THAT ARE SIMILAR TO MINE. MY VEHICLE WAS DRIVING FINE AND THEN I GET A SIGNAL ON MY DASH AS I AM GOING UP A HILL SAYING THAT "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I'M IN THE MIDDLE OF A STREET TRYING TO GET TO WORK AND I COULD BARELY GET UP THE HILL. THANK GOODNESS THERE WASN'T A LOT OF TRAFFIC THAT TIME OF DAY. I MANAGED TO MAKE IT TO A STORE TO GET IT CHECKED OUT AND THE SAID SOMETHING ABOUT A THROTTLE UNIT REPLACEMENT. IT IS SUPPOSED TO CONTROL MY ACCELERATION. THIS IS QUITE DANGEROUS TO KEEP HAPPENING AND NOTHING BE DONE ABOUT IT WHEN I HAVE SEEN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON IT. I JUST WANTED TO SHARE MY STORY TOO AND HOPEFULLY SOMETHING CAN BE FIXED.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V272000 (ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL).THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT SINCE THE WARNING LIGHT WAS NO LONGER ILLUMINATED, THE TECHNICIAN WOULD BE UNABLE TO RETRIEVE A FAULT CODE OR DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,959.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000.

THERE ARE SEVERAL HUNDRED COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT A THUMPING NOISE COMING FROM REAR OF 2016-2018 CHEVY MALIBU OF ALL TRIM TYPES, PARTICULARLY AT LOW SPEEDS OR WHEN ONE SIDE OF REAR OF VEHICLE GOES OVER SMALL BUMPS. GM PUT OUT A SERVICE BULLETIN RECOMMENDING THAT DEALERSHIPS AND SERVICE TECHNICIANS ADD A WASHER TO TOP OF BOTH REAR SHOCKS AND POSSIBLY REPLACE REAR SUSPENSION KNUCKLES. MANY DEALERSHIPS GIVE CUSTOMERS 'THE RUNAROUND', REQUIRING THEM TO PAY FOR DIAGNOSTIC FEES AND REPAIRS, PERFORMING OTHER REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS THAT DO NO FIX THE PROBLEM, AND TELLING CUSTOMERS TO JUST DEAL WITH IT. THIS REAR KNUCKLE PART IS ON A NATIONAL BACK ORDER, CAUSING DELAYS OF APPROXIMATELY 6 MONTHS FOR THE SAFE AND TIMELY REPAIR OF THIS ISSUE. WITHOUT THESE WASHERS ON THE REAR SHOCKS, THE TOP OF THE SHOCK MAKES PHYSICAL CONTACT WITH THE BOTTOM OF THE STRUT MOUNT, CAUSING THE SUSPENSION KNUCKLE TO FAIL, WHICH THEN CAUSES BUSHINGS TO FAIL. THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD THAT CHEVROLET IS LARGELY IGNORING.
THERE IS A "POPPING" NOISE COMING FROM THE REAR OF THE CAR WHEN TAKING MY FOOT OFF OF THE GAS AND ACCELERATING. THE NOISE IS ALSO HEARD WHEN GETTING INTO THE CAR. THE CAR WAS SERVICED AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THIS PROBLEM IN WHICH THEY STATED THEY ADDED A WASHER BUT THE NOISE IS STILL PRESENT ALL THE TIME.
