MY CHEVY MALIBU HAS STOPPED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY MORE OFTEN DURNING TRAFFIC TIME IT ALWAYS STOPS WHEN IT ENTERS AUTO STOP THEN IT CUTS ALL THE WAY OFF AND I HAVE TO RESTART IT I CALLED IN ABOUT THIS LAST YEAR . ALSO IT MAKES IT REALLY TOUGH TO PUSH MY BREAKS WHEN I START THE CAR UP IT DOES MAKE THE SOUND LIKE IT WANTS TO START THEN IT DIES OUT
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, the accelerator pedal sensor failed with the check engine vehicle entered reduced power mode, the vehicle independently slowed down as the contact pulled to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and took the vehicle to a dealer. The dealer informed him warning light and several other unknown warning lights illuminated. As the that the accelerator pedal sensor was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact was also informed that the parts to repair the vehicle were unavailable. The contact then had an independent mechanic replace the accelerator pedal and the sensor. The contact also stated that while merging onto a highway at 60 MPH, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The vehicle entered reduced power mode as the contact pulled off to the side of the highway. The contact was able to exit the highway and drove the vehicle slowly back to his residence. The following day, the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where he was informed that the high-pressure fuel pump failed and that the vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V358000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The manufacturer was not notified of failure. The vehicle was repaired but remained at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 32,000.
VEHICLE HAS "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MULTIPLE TIMES ERROR DISPLAYED AND WILL STALL ANYWHERE IN TRAFFIC CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. THESE CARS ARE BEING SOLD PEOPLE ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS. YOU CAN STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CHECK WHAT IS WRONG BUT RISK POSSIBLY BEING INJURED BY ON COMING VEHICLES IN ON GOING TRAFFIC. THIS FEATURE SHOULD BE SOMETHING COVERED BY THE COMPANY FOR A BRAND NEW CAR THERE NO REASON BEHIND WHY THE CAR IS DOING THIS OR HOW THE DRIVER CAUSE THE CAR TO ENTER THIS LIMP MODE. I DRIVE ON A HIGHWAY AT 70MPH AND THE CAR STALL COMPLETELY SENT ME INTO PANIC MODE BECAUSE THERE WAS NO WARNING PRIOR TO THIS, SOON WILL CAUSE THE DEATH OF A DRIVER AND THEIR FAMILY. ONCE GETTING THE CAR HOME IT NO LONGER STARTS.
DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD OR INTERSTATE AND IT LOSES POWER AND WONT LET YOU DRIVE OVER 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO WOULD NOT START. HAD TO LET THE CAR SIT FOR 15 SECONDS THEN TRY TO START IT AGAIN FOR IT TO START. THEN IT WOULD CUT OFF WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. GIVES A MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWER REDUCING
THE RADIO PANEL SCREEN WENT OUT JUST BLANK BUT THE RADIO STILL WORKS JUST YESTERDAY MY GIRLFRIEND GOT IN THE CAR AND IT WOULD NOT START SO WE TRIED TO JUMP IT IT WENT DEAD. SO I HAD TO TOW IT HOME WHERE IT SITS
WHEN DRIVING THE ENGINE LOSE POWER AND THE TRACTION LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE CAR TELL YOU THAT THE ENGINE IS LOSING POWER. THIS KEEPS HAPPENING. I ALSO HAVE BEEN INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DECELERATED TO 5 MPH. AFTERWARDS, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN OVER 20 MPH. THE FAILURE RECURRED FOUR TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO JIM KERAS CHEVROLET (2000 COVINGTON PIKE, MEMPHIS, TN 38128) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE THROTTLE PEDAL POSITION SENSOR SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 59,621.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD GO INTO REDUCED POWER MODE, CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO LOSE SPEED AND GO INTO LIMP MODE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MIKE CASTRUCCI CHEVROLET (1099 LILA AVE, MILFORD, OH 45150) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR ASSEMBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE PARTS WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.
BACK IN THE 1ST WEEK OF JANUARY 2019 I EXPERIENCED THE FIRST MAJOR ISSUE. WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON THE HIGHWAY TRAVELING AT 65 MPH THE CARS CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AS WELL AS THE TRACTION CONTROL. THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY SENT A MESSAGE ON MY DASHBOARD THAT SAID "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" AND THE CAR JERKED AND THE SPEED DRASTICALLY DROPPED FROM 65MPH TO ABOUT 20MPH. I WAS UNABLE TO ACCELERATE AND WAS LUCKILY ABLE TO DRIVE TO AN EMERGENCY LANE WHILE CARS AND SEMI TRUCKS WERE BEHIND ME AND ALMOST HIT ME. I TURNED THE CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN AND THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED ON, BUT I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THE DEALERSHIP RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND THEY DETERMINED IT WAS A FAULTY GAS THROTTLE PEDAL AND SENSOR. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE SHOP FOR A TOTAL OF TWO WEEKS, DUE TO THEM BEING OUT ON THE PARTS. I PAID OVER 500 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR. LESS THAN A WEEK LATER I WAS MERGING ON TO A HIGHWAY TO GO TO WORK AGAIN. AS I WAS MERGING ON THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT ON AND THE MESSAGE SAYING "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" CAME ON AGAIN. I LOST THE ABILITY TO ACCELERATED AND PULLED OVER. I THEN TURNED MY CAR ON AND OFF AGAIN. THE ENGINE LIGHT REMAINED LIT AND THE "REDUCE ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE REMAINED ON THIS TIME. I WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE TO A MAX OF 35 MPH THIS TIME. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME CHEVY DEALERSHIP. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTICS ON IT AND THIS TIME THEY STATED IT COULD HAVE BEEN DUE TO THE COLD WEATHER AND SAID A OIL CHANGE MIGHT HELP. THE OIL WAS CHANGED ON THE VEHICLE AND THEN THE CALLED SAYING THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING VERY ROUGH WHEN THEY STARTED IT. THEY ALSO THEN STATED THAT THERE WAS CONDENSATION IN THE RADIATOR FROM THE COOLANT. THEY ARE STILL WAITING FOR PARTS AND THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN THERE ALMOST THREE WEEKS. TOTAL TIME IN THE SHOP WAS 5 WEEKS OUT OF 6 WEEKS.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BACK IN AUGUST 2018. IN JANUARY 2019 I NOTICED THAT MY HEADLINER, BACK SEAT, AND TRUNK WAS WET AND IT SMELL MILDEWY. I HAVE 3 CHILDREN THAT HAVE ASTHMA AND I DON'T FEEL THAT IT IS SAFE FOR THEM. I TOOK IT BY THE DEALERSHIP AND SHOWED THEM THEY SAID THAT IT WAS COMING FROM THE 3RD BRAKE LIGHT WELL THEY ORDERED A PART FOR THE VEHICLE AND STATED THEATER SHOULD FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT THE PROBLEM IS STILL ONGOING. I'VE BEEN BACK ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY DID A WATER TEST AND CANNOT FIND THE SOLUTION. WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURRED THE VEHICLE WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVEWAY AFTER IT RAINED THE PROBLEM DOESN'T SHOW UP RIGHT WAY IT MAY TAKE A COUPLE OF HOURS OR A DAY. I'M AFRAID THAT IT MAY BE MOLD IN MY HEADLINER AND IN BETWEEN MY SEATS AND TRUNK FROM THE WATER BEING STATIONARY. I KNOW OF A ANOTHER CAR SAME MAKE AND MODEL HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM AND WE ARE NOT GETTING ANYWHERE WITH THIS ISSUE.
THIS VEHICLE HAS STARTED UP AND STOP ON IT'S ON WHILE DRIVING SITTING AT A RED LIGHT ALSO THE PEDAL IS GETTING AIR THROUGH IT AND THE REDUCE ENGINE LIGHT CONTINUES TO COME ON
VEHICLE HAS MULTIPLE TIMES A DAY "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" ERROR DISPLAYED AND WILL SUDDENLY STALL ANYWHERE IN TRAFFIC CAUSING DANGEROUS SITUATIONS. PEOPLE WHO NOT FAMILIAR WITH THIS. WILL HAVE TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND EXIT THE VEHICLE TO CHECK WHAT IS WRONG AND RISK POSSIBLY BEEING HIT AND KILLEOTHER D BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THIS FEATURE SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON ANY VEHICLE. IT CAUSES ENDAGERMEMT FOR DRIVERS AND OTHER TRAFFIC. IT IS A NEEDLESS FEATURE. IF ANY SENSOR IS BAD IT ALREADY GETS DISPLAYED BY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO REASON TO ON TOP OF IT STALL THE VEHICLE CAUSING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATIONS FOR THE DRIVER AND OTHER TRAFFIC.
AFTER TRIP OF A FEW MILES AND AFTER TURNING OFF THE START/STOP(KEYLESS) SWITCH, THE SCREEN MESSAGED THAT THE REMOTE KEY WAS NOT DETECTED, EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STILL IN THE CAR. NEITHER REMOTE KEYS WOULD NOT PERFORM ANY FUNCTION NOR WOULD MANUALLY PUSHING DOOR LOCKS OR SWITCH. AFTER ABOUT 20 MINUTES REMOTE KEY OPERATION RETURNED.THIS HAPPENED AGAIN ABOUT 2 WEEKS LATER. THE DEALER CANNOT FIND THE PROBLEM. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL STOP THE ENGINE IN A CRITICAL SITUATION.
WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ON THE FREEWAY I SLOWED DOWN AS APPROACHING SLIGHT CONGESTION OF CARS. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AS WELL AS "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE APPEARED. VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY. FELT AS IF IT WERE STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. VEHICLE WOULD ONLY ACCELERATE TO APPROX 20-30 MPH AND WAS VERY SLOW TO BUILD ANY MOMENTUM. I EXITED THE FREEWAY, CALLED ONSTAR, FOUND A PARKING LOT AND PARKED THE VEHICLE. DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND OTHER DRIVERS. HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP. ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED FOR THE 2ND TIME. VEHICLE 37,735 MILES
I'VE PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE BACK IN SEPTEMBER 2017 AND THE ACCELLARATOR PETAL HAS GONE OUT. MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CANS ON AND AS I WAS DRIVING, IS GAVE A MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWER REDUCING. I'VE TAKEN IT TO THE JIM ELLIS DEALER TO DIAGNOSE AND THEY ADVISED ME IT WAS THE ACCELLORATOR PETAL FAULT. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING TO SEVERAL MALIBU'S FIE SOME YEARS NOW AND THIS ISSUE NEEDS A MASSIVE RECALL. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO REPAIR A VEHICLE WITHIN A YEAR OF PURCHASING. MIND YOU MY WARRANTY IS NOT IN EFFECT, IT'S EXPIRED. I'VE DONE RESEARCH AND SEVERAL MALIBU'S SINCE 2008 HAS THIS SAME ISSUE. ONCE THE REDUCE SPEED TOOK PLACE, IT WOULD NOT ALLOW MY VEHICLE TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 60 MILES PER HOUR WHILE ON THE FREEWAY.
MY 2017 MALIBU HAS 87K MILES AND IN THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS WHENEVER IT RAINS AND DAYS FOLLOWING THE TRACTION CONTROL & ENGINE LIGHT POPS ON, AT THE SAME TIME THE DASH DISPLAYS THE WORDS "ENGINE POWER REDUCED" (THIS IS HAPPENING ON THE HWY AT 70+MPH). THE ENGINE LOSSES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT POWER DROPPING MY VEHICLES SPEED DOWN TO AROUND 30-40MPH PUTTING NOT ONLY MY FAMILY AND MYSELF IN DANGER BUT OTHER DRIVERS AS WELL. SO, I HAD MY VEHICLE ANALYZED AND IT THREW OUT THE CODE P2138 ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION ASSEMBLY. I USUALLY PULLED OVER TO THE SERVICE LANE TURNED MY VEHICLE OFF FOR A MINUTE OR SO RESTART THE ENGINE AND I'M ABLE TO GO ABOUT MY WAY (I LEARNED TO DO THAT BY READING COUNTLESS MSGS ONLINE OF OTHER MOTORIST COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE ON VEHICLES WITH MILEAGE AS LOW AS 2,600 MILES. I CALLED MUNDAY CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON TX TO BUY THE PART AND WAS TOLD I COULDN'T PURCHASE THE PART UNLESS THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED IT? THE PARTS GUY SEEMED TO INSTANTLY KNOW WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT, TO SAY THE LEAST HE HAS HEARD OF THIS ISSUES QUITE OFTEN. I'M NOT BASHING CHEVY I'M ACTUALLY A FAN OF THE CHEVY MALIBU. I HAD A 2005 FOR 12YRS WITH LITTLE TO KNOW ISSUES WITH OVER 250K MILES. SO WHEN I DEEMED THE TIME WAS RIGHT I TRADED IN MY "05 FOR A '17 THINKING I WOULD GET THE SAME SATISFACTION BUT SAD TO SAY THIS ISSUE HAS SPOILED THAT FOR ME BY PUTTING MY FAMILY, OTHER DRIVERS, AND MYSELF IN HARMS WAY. ON MY DAILY COMMUTE I SEE SO MANY OF THESE 2016 AND NEWER MALIBU'S ON THE ROAD AND I BEGIN WONDERING IS THIS THE NEXT TRAGEDY IN THE MAKING ON OUR US HIGHWAYS??? MY WIFE'S 2010 GLK 350 MERCEDES WAS INCLUDED IN THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL, NEEDLESS TO SAY THAT WAS A NERVOUS TIME FOR US. WELL THANKS FOR LETTING ME EXPRESS MY THOUGHTS ON THIS ISSUE. I HOPE & PRAY THAT THIS DOESN'T TAKE AN INNOCENT LIFE TO BE LOSS IN ORDER FOR THIS ISSUE TO BE TAKEN SERIOUSLY. GOD BLESS!
ENGINE POWER REDUCES SPORADICALLY WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND REGULAR CITY STREETS. INITIALLY ISSUE HAPPENED ONCE A WEEK. NOW IT'S HAPPENING AND AVERAGE OF 3 TIMES PER DAY. WHEN ENGINE POWER REDUCES CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 30MPH WHICH IS DANGEROUS ON A HIGHWAY. THE MORE I USE THE CAR, THE MORE FREQUENT THE ISSUE IS HAPPENING. I WAS INFORMED BY HESSERT CHEVROLET THAT IT IS A CENSOR IN MY GAS PETAL AND THE GAS PETAL NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE GAS PETAL HAS BEEN ON "NATIONAL" BACK ORDER SINCE THE BEGINNING OF JANUARY 2019

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO STEVE RAYMAN CHEVROLET (678-269-7886, LOCATED AT 2155 COBB PKWY SE, SMYRNA, GA 30080) WHERE THE TECHNICIAN PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND REPLACED THE THROTTLE CONTROL CABLES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
BOUGHT VEHICLE NEW 12-5-17 AND ON 12-6-17 ENGINE LIGHT WHILE IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY CAME ON I WAS ADVICE BY SERVICE MEMBER AT DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM AND IT WOULD FIX ITSELF. ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY AND THEN 10-11-18 IN WHILE IN MOTION ON STREET ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CAR DECELERATED IN SPEED GIVING MESSAGE ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED. WAS GOING TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP THAT FOLLOWING MONDAY BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT WENT AWAY AGAIN BEFORE THAT TIME. TODAY 11-22-18 ENGINE LIGHT BACK ON,WHILE IN MOTION ON STREET SPEED REDUCED, SAME MESSAGE SAYING ENGINE POWERED REDUCED. THOSE TIMES THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON SPEED WOULD NOT GO OVER 30 MILES PER HOUR
NOVEMBER 2018, I WAS IN A CAR ACCIDENT WHERE A VEHICLE WAS MAKING AN ILLEGAL U-TURN IN THE MIDDLE OF CLIFTON ROAD, AS I WAS COMING DOWN CLIFTON ROAD IN THE TURNING LANE AND T-BONED MY VEHICLE CAUSING FRONT END DAMAGE TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WAS TOTALLY SHUT DOWN AND HAD TO BE TOWED AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED TOTALED THE FOLLOWING WEEK. ALL AIRBAGS DEPLOYED AND AFTER READING THE REPORT FROM MY INSURANCE COMPANY STATING THAT THERE IS AN AIRBAG RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, WHICH WAS ALLEGEDLY KNOWN AT THE TIME I PURCHASED MY VEHICLE AND NO ONE TOLD ME AND AGAIN BY THE TIME I HAD MY LAST OIL CHANGE AND AGAIN NO ONE EVER TOLD ME. NO, I TOTALLY LOST A VEHICLE AND COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE OVER AIRBAGS THAT ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ABLE TO SAVE YOUR LIFE.
WHEN SHIFTING INTO PARK, THE SHIFTER DOES NOT FULLY ENGAGE RESULTING IN THE INABILITY TO PARK THE CAR OR TURN IT OFF. THE MESSAGE ON THE DASH SAYS "SHIFT INTO PARK" EVEN THOUGH THE SHIFTER IS ACTUALLY IN PARK. THIS HAPPENS EVERYTIME THE DRIVER TRIES TO PARK THE VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PUCKLICH CHEVROLET (3701 STATE ST, BISMARK, ND 58503) ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHERE THEY REPLACED THE CHARGE AIR COOLER, AND HEATED AND DRAINED THE REPLACEMENT AIR COOLER TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 19,796.

ON CITY STREET , HIGHWAY, ETC..WERE IT COULD LEAD TO VERY DANGEROUS OR TRAGIC SITUATIONS.. I TOOK MY CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER WERE THEY DIAGNOSIS IT TO BE ( PEDAL POSITION SENSOR NOT PLAUSIBLE NEEDS ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED AND PROGRAMED.. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP SINCE JANUARY 24 2019 AWAITING FOR APART (ACCELERATOR PEDAL) THAT HAS BEEN ON BACK ORDER FOR OVER A MONTH AND STILL HASNT CAME AVAILABLE AS OF FEBRUARY 5 2019 NOBODY CAN FULLY EXPLAIN WHY NOONE HAS THIS PARTICULAR PART AVAILABLE.. THERE ARE A NUMBER OF CARS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AWAITING THIS SAME REPAIR .. AT THE EXACT TIME OF MY AWAITING. THIS IS A VERY PROBLEMATIC ISSUE. THAT HAS BECOME VERY INCONVENIENT OF NOT BEING ABLE TO DRIVE MY CAR AT ALL.
When I accelerate and try to stop brakes goes down to the floor. I’ve had my rotors. Brakes changed and it’s impossible to stop at times. Purchase vehicle. 2018 and the check engine light came on shortly after I purchased it. It’s been on. I’ve got diagnostics. It’s unknown why! Tire sensors has been changed, including with new tires and none of them work and the airbag light is illuminated. I am concerned about my safety in this vehicle. I reported many times and I’m unaware of any recalls. Please help.

DRIVING THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD AND IT LOSES POWER AND WONT LET YOU DRIVE OVER 30 MPH. THE VEHICLE ALSO WOULD NOT START. HAD TO LET THE CAR SIT FOR 15 SECONDS THEN TRY TO START IT AGAIN FOR IT TO START. THEN IT WOULD CUT OFF WHILE STOPPED AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT. DEALERSHIP FIXED THE PISTONS AND ADDED A NEW BATTERY STILL HAD A PROBLEM AND NOW THEY REPLACED ACCEL PEDAL SENSOR. AND NOW DRIVES A LITTLE FUNNY.

CUT CAR ON AND OFF 3 TIMES BEFORE THE REDUCED SPEED SIGNAL WENT OFF. WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I IMMEDIATELY HAD TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY BECAUSE MY KIDS WERE IN THE CAR.
TAKATA RECALL: JUST PURCHASED A USED 2017 MALIBU PREMIER IN JULY 2018 WITH 26,000 MILES ON IT AND IT IS HESITATING TO START EVERY MORNING. EACH INITIAL START THERE AFTER THE CAR STARTS RIGHT UP AFTER I'VE PUT 3000 MILES ON THE CAR THE ENGINE JUMPS WHILE HOLDING BREAK.
GEAR SHIFTER GAVE OUT WHILE DRIVING. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED. CAR SHIFTED ITSELF INTO NEUTRAL EVEN THOUGH I SHIFTED GEARS INTO PARK ONCE I GOT TO A SAFE PLACE COMPUTER SCREEN READ NEUTRAL. CAR WOULD NOT TURN OFF FROM ACCESSORY MODE AND SAID "SHIFT TO PARK" BUT IT WOULD NOT. THEN WHEN I TRIED TO SHIFT IT JUMPED HARD AND YOU COULD SEE THE ENGINE JUMP AS IF IT WASN'T MOUNTED PROPERLY. WAS ABLE TO GET TO A SAFE PLACE BUT HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER CALLED TODAY TO SAY IT WAS GEAR SHIFTER. WENT BAD BUT THE BATTERY HAD DRAINED TOO AND THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE BATTERY. THE SHIFTER PROBLEM IS DANGEROUS . I ONLY HAD 11989 MILES ON IT AND IT IS 1 YEAR OLD.
PURCHASED MY VEHICLE NEW WITH TWO MILES IN 2016. IN LESS THAN ONE MONTH OF PURCHASE, I REPLACE A TIRE BECAUSE IT POPPED. ONE YEAR LATER I REPLACED A SECOND TIRE BECAUSE IT DEVELOPED A LUMP THAT WAS 2017. THIS YEAR TWO MORE TIRES WAS REPLACED BECAUSE OF LUMPS IN THE TIRE. AT ABOUT 20,000 (12/23/2018) MILES I BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT DIAGNOSED AS I HAD A NEAR DEATH EXPERIENCE WHEN I WAS STOPPED AT A RED LIGHT & THEN TRIED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN EXCEPT THE CAR STALLED ONCE THE EMISSIONS PORTION OF THE CAR TRIED TO KICK IN, IT CUT OFF AND DID NOT RESTART IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 WAY INTERSECTION. I TRIED RESTARTING THE CAR FOR ABOUT 0 MINS UNTIL THEN FINALLY THE ACR RESTARTED AGAIN. THIS OCCURENCE CONTINUED TO HAPPEN PEIODICALLY, I AM NOT SURE WHAT THE CAUSE OF THIS REACTION, BUT I LET THE DEALERSHIP KNOW IF EVERY INSTANCE AND BROUGHTTHE CAR IN TO BE CHECKED AT 20,000 MILES, 24,000 , 26, 000 MILES & 27,000 MILES. I WAS TOLD BY THE REPRESENTATIVE "GUY" THAT GMC WAS NOTIFIED AND THAT I SHOULDN'T CONTINUE TO BRING THE CAR THERE. THAT WAS APRIL 2018. UNFORTUNATELY, THE INCIDENT HAPPENED AGAIN WHILE I WAS LEAVING THE GARAGE AT WORK. CAR CUT OFF ANOTHER CAR ALMOST SLAMMED IN THE BACK OF MY CAR DUE THE ABRUPTNESS OF THE CAR GOING OUT. THE SSUE HAS NEVER BEEN ADDRESSED BY THE DEALERSHIP AND DURING THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT AUGUST 2018 I TOOK THE CAR IN TO ADVISE THEM OF THIS ISSUE IN ADDITION TO A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE REAR OF THE CAR. I WAS TOLD IN AUGUST 2018 THAT I AM OUTSIDE OF MY WARRANTY AND THAT I WOULD BE CHARGED A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. MY CAR HAS ABOUT 50,000 MILES CURRENTLY. THAT IS NEITHER HERE OR THERE. AS THE ORIGINAL ISSUE WAS NEVER ADDRESSED WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I AM NOT WILLING TO LOSE MY LIFE TRYING TO HAVE THIS CAR REPAIRED IN A TIMELY FASHION. IT IS A RAPID RIGHT LEFT RIGHT LEFT ONLY MOVING THE WHEEL ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE CENTER EACH WAY. IT HAS ON NUMEROUS OCCASION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FELT LIKE THE STEERING WENT REALLY LOOSE, ALMOST A NEUTRAL FEEL WITHOUT RESISTANCE AND VEHICLE BECOMES DIFFICULT TO CONTROL WHEN THIS HAPPENS. IN NEITHER SITUATION WILL IT DO IT TO THE POINT ANY SERVICE TECHNICIAN WILL EVER BE ABLE TO DUPLICATE IT. THE STEERING HAS WENT "LOOSE" ON ABOUT 12 TO 14 OCCASIONS. THE RAPID BACK AND FORTH JERKING HAS HAPPENED TWICE. THE RAPID JERKING HAS HAPPENED BOTH TIMES ON DIFFERENT ROAD SURFACES AT SPEEDS BELOW 45 MPH WHILE COATING, FOOT COMPLETELY OFF THE GAS PEDAL AND FOOT NOT TOUCHING THE BRAKE PEDAL.

MY PARTNER AND I TOOK THE CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS A COMPUTER CODE RESET ISSUE. THEY SAID THEY RESET IT AND IT SHOULD BE FINE. WITHIN ONE WEEK, IT WAS BACK ON. THE MANUFACTURER GAVE THE CONTACT A CASE NUMBER AFTER LEARNING THAT SHE CONTACTED THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000.
GAS TANK ONLY FILLS TO 7/8 OF A TANK. I HAVE HAD IT AT CHEVY FIVE TIMES AND NOW IT READS FULL BUT WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR TEN MILES IT READS LESS THE 3/4 OF A TANK.
ON OR ABOUT MAY 17 AND ON MAY 22 2018, THE ENGINE STALLED WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO ENTER AN INTERSECTION AFTER STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN. THE GREEN "ENGINE ON" LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. I HAD TO PUSH THE ENGINE START/STOP BUTTON TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF, THEN PUSH IT AGAIN TO RESTART THE ENGINE. AFTER THE MAY 22 INCIDENT, THE CAR MEDIA SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED AFTER THE CAR WAS RESTARTED. THE SCREEN DISPLAYS WERE NORMAL, BUT THERE WAS NO SOUND FROM ANY SOURCE INCLUDING THE TURN SIGNALS AND 4 WAY FLASHERS.
