I BOUGHT THE 2017 MALIBU PREMEIR WITH 5 MILES ON IT IN SEPT 2017 AND HAVE HAD PROBLEMS FROM THE START. 2018 WHILE RIDING ON INTERSTATE MY CAR JUST STOPPED WENT STRAIGHT TO DEALER THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG AFTER KEEPING CAR FOR 2 DAYS. WENT TO LEAVE DEALER SHIP AND CAR STOPPED IN PARKING LOT ,SENSORS WENT OUT ON FRONT OF CAR. FIXED 2019.NEXT MY CAR KEPT GETTING WATER IN TIRE WELL AND I WENT TO DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A RECALL. SO I KEPT BAILING OUT WATER AND PARKING IN GARAGES. THREE MONTHS LATER RECALL .I WAS WITHOUT CAR FOR 4 WEEKS AS CARPET ,HEADLINER AND COMPLETE TRUNK CARPET AND MOLDING HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF MOLD,2020.MY CAR TELLS ME TO SHIFT TO PARK WHEN CAR IS IN PARK AND I HAVE TO TURN CAR OFF AND ON ND MOVE FROM D TO P TO GET IT TO WORK. TELLS ME WHEN 'I'M DRIVING NO KEY FOUND IN VEHICLE OR PUT KEY FOB IN POCKET.,YESTERDAY SEPT 5.2020 WENT TO GET INSPECTION STICKER AND ATTENDENT TOLD ME YOU HAVE NO BACKUP LIGHTS. NEVER NOTICED IT. SO WENT TO AUTO ZONE AND BOUGHT LIGHT AND WENT TO MECHANIC SHOP TO HAVE PUT IN. WHILE SITTING IN CAR WENT TO OPEN SUNROOF, IT WASN'T WORKING AND IT HAD BEEN MONTHS SINCE I REMEMBER OPENING IT, SO 'I'M READING OWNERS MANUAL AND WENT TO TURN ON MAP LIGHTS. NO LIGHTS. SO MECHANIC COMES AND SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR BULBS. LET ME CHECK FUSES, USUALLY WHEN BOTH LIGHT GO OUT AT SAME TIME ITS A FUSE PROBLEM TOLD HIM ABOUT SUN ROOF AND MAP LIGHT, HE CHECKED EVERY FUSE INSIDE AND OUT. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY FUSES OR THE LIGHTS. THEY JUST WONT COME ON. NEITHER WILL SUNROOF OPEN. MY CAR HAS 56000 MILES ON IT AND I'VE HAD PROBLEMS SINCE 25000 MILES. I THOUGHT I WOULD KEEP THIS CAR FOR AT LEAST TEN YEARS AS IT COST A PRETTY PENNY FOR THE CAR
WE HAD A DOWN POUR 05/20/2018 IN KISSIMMEE, FLORIDA. MY VEHICLE HAD STAND STILL WATER IN MY TRUNK, THE WATER SEEPED THROUGH TO THE INTERIOR DAMAGING THE REAR SEATS, WATER COVERED THE FLOOR, THERE ARE STAINS ON THE ROOF AND THE SMELL OF AGED WATER IS THROUGHOUT THE ENTIRE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED, THE TRUNK WAS CLOSED AND THE WINDOWS WERE UP AS NORMAL AS MY VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR THE NIGHT.
WHEN I TO A STOP LIKE COME OFF THE EXIT CAR CUT OFF AND THE STEERING WHEEL LOT ON BE FOR SECOND. I HAVE TOOK IT TO THE DEAL THREE TIME AND THEIR EVERYTHING IS OKAY THEIR THE PROBLEM THE NEXT DAY SAME THING HAPPEN AND IT WILL COMES UP ON THE DASHBOARD THAT I`M LOSING POWER.
I SERVICE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GOES ON MOST OF THE TIME. I HAVE GONE TO REPAIR SHOP AROUND 15X TIMES IN A ALMOST 2 YEARS PERIOD. I HAVE TROUBLE DOING MY LAST INSPECTION DID NOT WANNA PAST, THEY TOLD ME TO RUN THE CAR IN HIGH WAY FOR 20 MILES NON STOP,DNT UNDERSTAND WHY I NEEDED TO DO THIS. ALSO AT MORE TIMES THEN I CAN REMEMBER THE CAR DIDNT WANT TO START IT WOULD AFTER 10-15 MIN AFTER I TRY TO START IT UP, I FEEL MOTOR JUMPS ALOT, AND TRANSMISSION NOT RUNNING NORMAL AS IT SHOULD, I HAVE DONE 2 CASES WITH THE HEADQUATERS IN CHICAGO BUT BOTH TIMES THEY CLOSE THE CAES AND NOTHING WAS SOLVED,AND UNTIL THIS DAY I STILL HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR

IN ADDITION, THE PARK ASSIST AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO STIVERS CHEVROLET (111 NEWLAND RD, COLUMBIA, SC 29229, (803) 254-1431) WHERE THEY WERE INITIALLY UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE DEFECT. AFTER MULTIPLE FAILURES, THE CONTACT BROUGHT THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FAULTY SENSOR. THE PART WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND THE TRACTION CONTROL AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PULLED OFF THE ROADWAY AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AFTER A FEW ATTEMPTS; HOWEVER, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DOMINO MOTOR (3137 255TH ST, SAC CITY, IA 50583) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
POWER ENGINE REDUCED INDICATOR WARNING ACROSS SCREEN- NOW IT WILL NOT EVEN RUN 20 MILES WITHOUT BOGGING DOWN TO 20MPH WITH NO WARNING- THEIR IS A RECALL ON IT IT WAS AND ALWAYS IS IN MOTION WHEN THIS OCCURS. FIRST HAPPENED AT 30,000 MILES - CONTINUED TO HAPPEN MAYBE ONCE OR TWICE EVERY FEW MONTHS- NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE IS RAN! I'VE HAD THE CAR SINCE MARCH 2018 IT NOW HAS 100000 MILES ON IT AND ONLY GETTING WORSE!!
BACK WINDOW IS LEAKING WATER INTO THE INTERIOR AND INSIDE THE HEADLINER. NOTICED AFTER HEAVY RAINS AS WELL AS WHEN USING THE CAR WASH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE SPEED SUDDENLY REDUCED TO 25 MPH. THE MESSAGE 'ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED' WAS DISPLAYED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO PAGE CHEVROLET (6500 LITTLE RIVER TURNPIKE, ALEXANDRIA, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERNAL PARTS OF THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL ASSEMBLY WERE DEFORMED AND CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED APPROXIMATELY EIGHT MONTHS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO OURISMAN CHEVROLET (18201 OLD RICHMOND HWY, ALEXANDRIA, VA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24,000.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON I HAVE TAKEN IT TO DEALERSHIP AND IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED AND FIXED IT IS THE BATTERY MODULATER SENSOR (IF I SPELLED IT RIGHT) THE SAME CODE COMES UP. DEALERSHIP STATES ITS A MANUFACTURER ISSUE OR SYSTEM ISSUE AND A FIX IS BEING WORKED ON ITS BEEN A COUPLE OF MONTHS ALL THEY CAN DO IS RESET THE SENSOR BUT IT KEEPS COMING ON.
MY 2017 MALIBU HAD A LOSS OF ENGINE POWER, IT HAPPENED WHILE ON VACATION. WHILE IN TRAFFIC ON A DARK CURVY ROAD, THERE WAS A SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL AS A MESSAGE INDICATING LOSS OF ENGINE POWER. I PULLED OVER AN RESTARTED THE VEHICLE, IT DID NOT GAIN FULL ENGINE POWER BACK. I WAS ABLE TO SLOWLY MAKE IT TO MY DESTINATION. THE NEXT MORNING (KIDS IN TOW) THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON, AND THE VEHICLE STILL SEEMED SLUGGISH. WHILE DRIVING HOME ( OR TO A DEALERSHIP IF POSSIBLE) THE CAR AGAIN LOST POWER AND I HAD TO PULL OVER AS TO NOT OBSTRUCT TRAFFIC. UPON GETTING THE VEHICLE SERVICED, THEY CLAIM THE MATTER WAS RESOLVED I AM NOT CONFIDENT,

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE STEERING ASSISTANCE REDUCED WARNING MESSAGE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY APPEAR ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD INITIALLY TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO MALCOLM CUNNINGHAM CHEVROLET AUGUSTA (2031 GORDON HWY, AUGUSTA, GA 30909) WHERE SHE WAS INFORMED THAT SHE HAD A DEFECTIVE RACK AND PINION. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A DEFECTIVE TIE ROD AND HAD THE TIE ROD REPLACED. RECENTLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN ABNORMAL SCRAPING NOISE WOULD EMIT FROM THE VEHICLE UPON DEPRESSION OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AS THE ABS WARNING LIGHT APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO JOHNSON MOTOR COMPANY OF SOUTH CAROLINA (490 JEFFERSON DAVIS HWY, GRANITEVILLE, SC 29829) WHERE THEY REPAIRED THE VEHICLE FOR A DEFECTIVE PCV HOSE. AN HOUR AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE CONTACT, THE SAME FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES ABOUT THE FAILURES AND SEVERAL CASES WERE FILED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD YET TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,757.
bought this kind of new and while still under warranty reduced power engine light came on & engine is reduced to 20 mph have to pull over shut it off wait a few minutes and start it back up and then it will be all right for a while we called dealer made an appointment but by the time the appointment came around the light had gone out they said the light needs to be on in order for them to diagnose the problem the light goes off after about 50 miles after this happens so we could never get it into them within that 50 mile time frame we gave up after a while now it's happening more often and I hear that maybe a class action suit coming they don't seem to be able to solve the problem. we still own this 2017 Chevy Malibu and it is still doing it today.
MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE STARTER WOULD TRY AND TURN THE ENGINE OVER FOR 10 SECONDS THEN THE STARTER WOULD SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENED ON 3/7/18 AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED IN FOR SERVICE. THE FUEL PUMP 'CONTROL MODULE' WAS REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I TOOK POSSEION OF THE CAR ON 3/10/18. ON 3/12/18 THE VEHICLE HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH NO FUEL PRESSURE AND RESULTED IN THE CAR TURNING OFF WHILE DRIVING AND I WAS UNABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AGAIN. IT WAS THEN TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP WHICH IS NOW REPLACING THE 'FUEL PUMP' DUE TO A GM TSB COMMUNICATION 16-NA-225.

THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER (HEFNER MOTORS IN BATESVILLE, MS) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
REAR WINDOW LEAKS AND MESSES UP HEADLINER
CAR HAS ALWAYS RAN A LITTLE ROUGH, WE WERE TOLD BY CHEVY THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG EVERYTHING WAS NORMAL. ON OUR WAY HOME FROM FAMILY VACATION IN THE MOUNTAINS, THE CAR LOST POWER, ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO MAKE IT TO AN AUTOZONE AND WE WERE TOLD IT WAS MISFIRING IN CYLINDER 1. WE THEN TOOK THE CAR TO CHEVY, WE WERE TOLD THEY COULDN'T SEE THE PROBLEM AND THE MECHANIC WHO TAKES THE ENGINE APART TO CHECK WAS BUST THE NEXT COUPLE OF DAYS. SO THE CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR A WEEK BEFORE WERE TOLD THERE IS A CRACKED PISTON AND THEY WILL BE REPLACING THE PISTONS AND GASKETS. IF I DIDN'T WORK IN THE CAR RENTAL BUSINESS, I WOULD THINK MY CAR WAS GREAT AND READY TO LIVE FOREVER, BUT I DO. SO I KNOW, WE HAVE HAD SEVERAL MALIBU'S AND CRUZ'S WITH THE SAME ENGINE HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AND AFTER 10K MILES THE PISTONS CRACK AGAIN. WE GET THE CAR BACK AND IT IS RUNNING MORE ROUGH THAN IT USED TO, NOW WERE WAITING FOR THE ENGINE TO CUT OUT AGAIN. I AM NOT LOOKING FORWARD TO MY CARS ENGINE CUTTING OUT ON THE HIGHWAY AGAIN BECAUSE CHEVY CANNOT FIND A FIX FOR THEIR BUM ENGINE. WITH ONLY 12K MILES LEFT OF THE WARRANTY. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. ON SEVERAL DIFFERENT OCCASIONS, WHILE AT A STOP LIGHT, THE ENGINE RPMS WOULD SUDDENLY INCREASE AND THE VEHICLE ATTEMPTED TO SURGE FORWARD. THE DRIVER HAD TO DEPRESS HARD ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM SURGING FORWARD. ON FEBRUARY 17, 2018, WHILE IN A BANK PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. DURING THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE WAS SEVERELY DAMAGED; HOWEVER, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TOWED. THE LOCAL DEALER (DAVIS CHEVROLET IN HOUSTON, TX) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,800. *TT VIDEO ATTACHED *BF
AFTER HAVING PROBLEMS WITH LOSING POWER STEERING ON MY 2010 CHEVROLET MALIBU I DID THIS RESEARCH ON LINE. I AM INCLUDING SOME OF THE MOST SERIOUS COMPLAINTS AND LINK TO THE COMPLAINT INFORMATION FOR YOUR CONNIVANCE. I CONTACTED SHAHEEN CHEVROLET AND WAS ADVISED BY ROBIN THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THE PROBLEM BUT THAT GM WOULD COVER THE COSTS. AFTER HAVING THE CAR TOWED TO SHAHEENS I RECEIVED A CALL INFORMING ME THAT IT WOULD COST OVER $1,300 FOR THE REPAIRS AND GM WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS. I REQUESTED A CALL BACK FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER 2-5-18 9.30. HE RETURNED MY CALL A 2.30 PM AND RELAYED TO ME THAT GM WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS OF REPAIRS. HE ALSO STATED THAT ROBIN SHOULD NOT HAVE TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULD. I CALLED THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT GM 1.800. 222-1020 AND THEY REPLIED THAT GM WOULD NOT PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS BIG SAFETY ISSUE PLEASE RESEARCH AND RESPONSE WITH YOUR FINDINGS. IF YOU CANNOT HELP ME WITH THIS PROBLEM PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF ANY STATE AGENCY COULD HELP ME RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. PLEASE RESPOND AS SOON AS POSSIBLE I NEED TO MAKE A DECISION ON WHAT TO DO FOR A CAR.
VEHICLE MOVING SLOWLY AND ALMOST STATIONARY WHEN STRUCK IN DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR AREA BY FULL SIZE PICKUP TRUCK WITH EXTENSIVE AND SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE AND LIKELY A TOTAL LOSS BUT NO AIR BAG DEPLOYED.
AFTER FILLING VEHICLE FULLY WITH FUEL THE FUEL GAUGE DOES NOT REGISTER FULL. MY DEALERSHIP CONTACTED GM AND THEY SAID IT IS A "NON-ISSUE" BUT THE DEALERSHIP DISAGREES SINCE THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS VEHICLES WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT.
DRIVING ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CALLED ON STAR DIAGNOSTIC SAID INJECTOR ERROR SAME THING I HAD FIXED ON JANUARY 11TH 2018
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 CHEVROLET MALIBU. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOORS WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ENTER OR EXIT THE VEHICLE. ALSO, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT START AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO RUSH CHEVROLET (1395 W. HIGHWAY 290, ELGIN, TX). THE DEALER REPLACED THE REMOTE DOOR LOCK, BUT THE CAUSE OF THE ENGINE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,700.
I DROVE THE DESCRIBED CAR AS A RENTAL FROM ENTERPRISE WHILE MY CAR IS BEING REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING THE CAR ON A MOSTLY STRAIGHT PARKWAY AT 55 MPH, AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL JERKED SHARPLY TO THE LEFT, ON ITS OWN, AND I LEFT THE ROADWAY AND HIT THE GRASS MEDIAN, GOT THE CAR BACK ON THE ROADWAY, SHAKEN, AND CONTINUED DRIVING VERY CONFUSED AS TO WHAT JUST HAPPENED. TURNS OUT THESE CARS HAVE A STEERING DEFECT THAT APPARENTLY IS NOT CAUSING A RECALL, AND IT IS NOT BEING ACKNOWLEDGED BU CHEVY. BLOGS OF OWNERS DESCRIBE THE EXACT SAME EVENT WHICH HAS PITTED CHEVY OWNERS AGAINST THE COMPANY WHICH IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING THE DEFECT. I WAS TOO SCARED TO GET IN THAT CAR AGAIN. PLEASE ADVISE ME IF A RECALL HAS FINALLY OCCURRED FOR THIS SCARY DEFECT.
THE CAR SOMETIMES HAS A HUGE DELAY AFTER YOU PUSH THE START BUTTON ON DASH TO ACTUALLY START, AND BEING A HYBRID THE CAR SHAKES BAD WHEN ENGINE STARTS, IT'S SOUNDA LIKE CRAP TO BE HONEST. I'VE GOT 12K MILES ON IT AND IT'S BEEN SERVICED AT CHEVY ONLY, AND THE [XXX] THING HAS A RATTLE IN THE DASH THEY 'CAN'T FIGURE OUT' AND THEY DON'T HEAR ANY ABNORMAL ENGINE NOISE. AND THEY SAY IT'S NORMAL TO LAG THAT BAD WHEN STARTING, AS IT HAS TO 'POWER UP'. BUT WHEN CAR WAS NEW IT DIDN'T DO THAT PARTS OF THIS DOCUMENT HAVE BEEN REDACTED TO PROTECT PERSONALLY IDENTIFIABLE INFORMATION PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).
AS I EXITED THE FREEWAY AND WAS SLOWING DOWN MY CAR JERKED AND THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE CAME ON. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY OR BUILD ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO SHIFT AS IT SHOULD. VEHICLE FELT LIKE IT WAS STUCK IN 2ND GEAR. I STARTED DRIVING DIRECTLY TO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE HWY. EVENTUALLY THE CAR BUILT ENOUGH MOMENTUM TO SHIFT OUT OF 2ND. CAR DROVE BETWEEN 20-35 MPH. TOOK A LONG TIME TO BUILD UP SPEED AFTER STOPPING AT RED LIGHTS. (ACCELERATOR PEDAL REPLACED) DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR ME AND THE VEHICLES AROUND ME.
WHILE DRIVING ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON I CALLED ON STAR DIAGNOSTIC REVEALED INJECTOR ERROR
Shift to park. I am able to shift to park but then sometimes when I turn off my car, I receive a notification stating that my car is not in park. Most of the time i either have to jiggle the shift gear, turn off and on my car in order for the notification to go away.
WHEN THE CAR COMES TO A STOP I CAN HEAR RUSHING WATER IN THE DASHBOARD. I HAVE HAD THIS CHECKED BY THE DEALER SHOP. THEY FOUND NOTHING. THE PROBLEM IS STILL THERE.
BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2017 WITH 22K MILES ON IT, AND NOW A YEAR AND A HALF LATER WITH 60K MILES ON IT THERE ARE METAL SHAVINGS IN THE TRANSMISSION AND I HAVE TO GET IT EITHER COMPLETELY REBUILT OR REPLACED. IT HAS BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH THE TRANSMISSION SINCE I BOUGHT IT, BUT EVERY SHOP I TOOK IT TO TOLD ME NOT TO WORRY BECAUSE 'ALL CARS SKIP LIKE THIS'. THE CAR SKIPS VERY BADLY (MORE SO IN THE LAST MONTH OF MAY 2019), RPMS STAY AT 3500 IF I AM GOING ABOVE 50 MPH, SHIFTS VERY HARD OR NOT AT ALL UNTIL I PRESS MY BRAKES. ALL OF THIS OCCURS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN IN PARK, IT OCCASIONALLY IDLES AROUND 1-2 RPMS AND MAKES A VERY LOUD NOISE.

ON FRIDAY DECEMBER 29, 2017 AS WE WERE DRIVING HOME WE ALMOST RE-ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN A CITY STREET AT THE SPEED OF 55 MPH DUE TO CAR BRAKES LOCKING AND HARD TO PRESS DOWN, LUCKILY HARD WE WERE ABLE FO BRAKE BY PUSHING HARD ENOUGH. ALSO SENSOR HAVE FAILED TWICE- THREE TIMES IN HEAVY TRAFFIC AND WILL BRAKE ON THEIR OWN WITHOUT ANY CAR BEING DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME WHICH IS SCARY AND COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT ON THE HIGHWAY. WE CONTACT GMC AND FILED A CLAIM (83737025405) AND ALSO TOOK IT TO THE CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN OUR HOMETOWN WHICH IS NOT DOING MUCH BUT CHARGING US $1000+ FOR A CHANGE ON A VACUUM TOP AND SEAL BUT DON'T UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE FOR WE HAVE ALMOST CRASHED OVER 4 TIMES DUE TO THESE ISSUES.
I WAS ON MY WAY TO DO LAUNDRY AT THE LAUNDRY MAT. DRIVING DOWN RESIDENTIAL STREET MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MESSAGE CAME ON. MY CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE OVER 20-30 MPH. I PARKED MY CAR AND DID LAUNDRY. WHEN GOING HOME STILL HAD THE SAME ISSUE. LIGHTS STILL ON AND REDUCED ENGINE POWER. SCHEDULED APPT. TO TAKE MY CAR FOR SERVICE ON 12/26. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS STILL ON BUT REDUCED ENGINE POWER LIGHT OFF. WIRE HARNESS WAS REPLACED
HAVING ISSUES WITH TRANSMISSION (HARD SHIFTING, NOT GOING INTO GEAR, NOT GOING INTO PARK). THIS STARTED WITHIN A FEW THOUSAND MILES OF OWNING THE CAR. THE POWER STEERING ALSO GOES OUT AT RANDOM TIMES. THE CAR GETS SIGNIFICANTLY HARDER TO STEER, OR TURN. HAPPENS WHEN LANE DEPARTURE IS TURNED OFF AS WELL. ALSO THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE AS CONSTANTLY FAILING. ALMOST LIKE THE CAMERA JUST STOPS WORKING, AND THE ENTIRE SYSTEM SHUTS DOWN, OR IT SAYS ITS STILL ENGAGED AND CANT SEE THE CARS IN FRONT SLOWING DOWN. SOMETIMES THE HEADS UP DISPLAY ALERT DOESN'T EVEN GO OFF WHEN IT SHOULD. NOT SURE IF THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, OR EACH INDIVIDUAL SYSTEM HAS PROBLEMS. CAR HAS BEEN AT THE DEALER ABOUT 6 TIMES NOW WITH THE SAME ISSUES. THEY CURRENTLY HAVE THE CAR, AND HAVE HAD IT FOR ABOUT 25 DAYS NOW. ALWAYS THE SAME OUTCOME... "WE DON'T KNOW HOW TO FIX IT". THEY EVEN HAD A SPECIALIST COME IN AND REPROGRAM THE TRANSMISSION TO TRY TO "FIX THE PROBLEM". IT HASN'T FIXED THE PROBLEM YET. TRANSMISSION ISSUES USUALLY HAPPEN STATIONARY, GOING FROM DRIVE TO PARK, SOMETIMES YOU WILL GET A LOUD AND VERY HARD SHIFT INTO GEAR, SOMETIMES IT SAYS ITS IN DRIVE OR REVERSE, YOU TAKE YOUR FOOT OFF THE BRAKE, AND TAP ON THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS. IT ACTS AS IF ITS STILL IN PARK. IT WOULD ALSO SAY "SHIFT TO PARK" AFTER YOU ALREADY HAVE AND WONT LET YOU TURN OFF THE CAR, UNTIL IT REGISTERS YOU IN "PARK". AS FOR THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE, IT HAPPENS WHILE IN MOTION. ITS GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE I CANT EVEN USE IT ANYMORE. IT MAY WORK FOR 3 MILES, THEN COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN. STEERING ISSUE HAPPENS WHENEVER IT FEELS LIKE IT. SOMETIMES WHILE PARKED, SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING. DOESN'T SEEM TO MATTER SPEED WISE.
INACCURATE GAS METER OR OTHER FUEL COMPONENTS. THE METER DOES NOT MATCH THE READING ON THE MYCHEVROLET APP. I JUST FILLED MY TANK UNTIL THE PUMP STOPS AND THE METER READS FULL IN MY CAR. THE APP READS 78% THUS I DO NOT KNOW HOW MUCH GAS I REALLY HAVE LEFT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE THE DAY I PURCHASED MY CAR ON 12/10/2016. AFTER 2 OR 3 VISITS TO MY DEALER, THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM AFTER CALIBRATING THE METER MONTHS AGO AND IT WAS FINE UNTIL TODAY. TODAY 11/27/2017, THE METER IS NOW INACCURATE AGAIN. I DO NOT HAVE THIS PARTICULAR PROBLEM WITH ANY OF MY OTHER CHEVROLET VEHICLES. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS RELATING TO THIS VEHICLE'S GAS METER AND THE CAR IN GENERAL IF YOU CHECK CHEVROLET'S FACEBOOK PAGE. THIS CAN CAUSE SOMEONE TO RUN OUT OF GAS BEFORE EXPECTED IN AN INCONVENIENT PLACE POSSIBLY CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT AND INJURIES. THIS NEEDS TO BE RECALLED IMMEDIATELY BEFORE THIS BECOMES A MAJOR PROBLEM.
MY REASON FOR WRITING IS MY CAR WAS STRUCK IN THE WINDSHIELD BY A ROCK REQUIRING REPLACEMENT OF THE WINDSHIELD. AFTER THE WINDSHIELD WAS REPLACED, I NOTICED UNDER CONDITIONS OF BRIGHT LIGHT SUCH AS A SUNNY DAY, I COULD NOT SEE CLEARLY THROUGH IT BECAUSE OF SIGNIFICANT REFLECTIONS OFF OF THE DASHBOARD. SEE PHOTO NUMBER 1. I DID BRING THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF THE CHEVROLET DEALER WHO REPLACED THE WINDSHIELD, AND THE GLASS COMPANY THAT SUPPLIED THE WINDSHIELD. THEY BOTH AGREED THE REFLECTIONS SEEMED UNUSUAL, BUT STATED THE AFTERMARKET REPLACEMENT MET THE APPROPRIATE GLASS STANDARDS. SEE PHOTO 2 FOR THE GLASS MANUFACTURER. THEY SUGGESTED I REPLACE THE WINDSHIELD WITH AN OEM REPLACEMENT, WHICH I PLAN TO DO FOR SAFETY REASONS. MY REASON FOR WRITING IS TO ASK IF YOU CAN TELL ME WHAT STANDARD FOR OPTICAL TRANSMISSION IS REQUIRED OF NON-OEM REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELDS. IF I CAN SHOW THAT THE WINDSHIELD DOES NOT MEET FEDERAL GLASS STANDARDS PERHAPS THEY MIGHT HELP WITH THE ADDED COST OF REPLACEMENT. I DO HAVE A GOOD TECHNICAL UNDERSTANDING OF OPTICAL TRANSMISSION AND REFLECTANCE, AS I AM A RETIRED OPTOMETRIST. I MIGHT ADD THAT PART OF THE HIGH REFLECTANCE OF THE WINDSHIELD IS IN PART DUE TO THE ASH-GRAY INTERIOR COLOR, A DESIGN FLAW. HOWEVER, THE REPLACEMENT WINDSHIELD IS MUCH MORE REFLECTIVE THAN THE ORIGINAL, BASED ON MY BEST RECOLLECTION. THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP.
THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I WAS EXITING MY VEHICLE. I PIVOTED TO CLOSE THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. I ACCIDENTALLY DID NOT HAVE MY LEG FULLY CLEAR OF THE DOOR. THE WING TIP EDGE ACTED LIKE A SHOVEL AND TOOK OUT A PIECE OF SKIN ON MY LEG AS I CLOSED THE DOOR REQUIRING STITCHES. I WAS USING A NORMAL AMOUNT OF FORCE TO CLOSE THE DOOR AND WAS SHOCKED AT THE DAMAGE THE DOOR TIP DID TO MY LEG. IT WENT THROUGH THE SKIN LAYER DOWN TO THE MUSCLE. I BELIEVE THE WING TIP DESIGN OF FORWARD CAR DOORS ARE A SAFETY HAZARD AND RISK FOR INJURY. PLEASE CONSIDER MAKING THE EDGE MORE ROUNDED LIKE THE REAR DOORS. I HAVE A RECURRING EMISSION ISSUE DIAGNOSTIC TEST CODE P2097 GENERAL MOTORS HAS ADMITTING TO NOT KNOWING WHAT IS WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW THE EMISSION ISSUE IS ONGOING RECURRING AND MY VEHICLE IS UP FOR STATE INSPECTION FOR WHICH IT WILL NOT PASS, THIS ISSUE BEGAN AT MILE 3007 I'VE OWNED THE CAR FOR LESS THAN 2 YEARS. THE VEHICLE CAME WITHOUT AIR CONDITIONING FOR WHICH IT WAS EQUIPPED THAT ISSUE BEGIN AT MILE 598. I HAVE HAD MULTIPLE SYSTEMS ISSUES. I HAVE LOST MY JOB OVER THIS CAR THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN CORRECTED WITH SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR IT. I WANT GENERAL MOTORS TO REPURCHASE THE VEHICLE WITH NO USAGE BEING CHARGED. THIS IS AN ISSUE GENERAL MOTORS IS AWARE OF AND HAS CONTINUED TO SELL THIS MODEL VEHICLE WITH ITS KNOWN DEFECTS WHICH IN MY OPINION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS GIVEN THE RESULTING CHARACTERISTICS THE CAR DISPLAYS ONCE GOING INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER / LIMP MODE THIS WOULD OCCUR WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY EARLY MORNING LATE NIGHT HOURS I WOULD HAVE TO PULL OVER UNEXPECTEDLY AND SUDDENLY, UNHOOK MY BATTERY TERMINALS AND RESET THE COMPUTER MANUALLY. AT ONE POINT MY CAR BEGAN DISPLAYING CHARACTERISTICS OF LOSING POWER STEERING, ENGAGING THE AUTO STOP/START FUNCTION AND NOT RE-ENGAGING THE VEHICLE UPON ACCELERATION FOR WHICH IT WAS INTENDED. I LOST POWER STEERING IN A TURN ONE TIME AND ALMOST CRASHED IN BROOKLINE MASSACHUSETTS A HEAVILY TRAVELLED PEDESTRIAN AREA
THE HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY POOR AND EVEN UNSAFE ON DARK WET NIGHTS. AS PURCHASED THE LIGHTS WERE TOO HIGH. WITH THE LIGHTS AIMED LOWER, IT IS BARELY OK ON MOST NIGHTS BUT UNSAFE ON WET, DARK NIGHTS. I HAVE PURCHASED AFTERMARKET BULBS BUT THEY WERE ONLY SLIGHTLY IMPROVED. THE HIGH BEAMS ARE STILL TOO HIGH TO LIGHT THE ROAD, BUT THEY DO ILLUMINATE THE TREES. A EUROPEAN CUTOFF BEAM PATTERN WOULD HELP TOO.

IN ADDITION, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO ENGAGE IN PARK AND THE CONTACT HAD TO FORCE THE SHIFTER INTO PARK. IN ADDITION, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE GEAR SHIFTER. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER, THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WITH A 2018 PART THAT WAS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 145,300.
