NHTSA Owner Complaint Log
This page lists owner-reported complaints filed with NHTSA for the 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA and do not by themselves prove a defect or defect rate.
I get a ‘Shift to Park’ message when car is placed in PARK and turn off ignition. This is not covered under the bumper-to-bumper warranty since it is over 3 years old, but I only have 28,800 miles on the car. This shouldn’t be failing after so soon. This happened about 2 years ago, but it stopped and has worked fine for two years. Now it's back and won't go away. There seems to be no way to shut off the car unless it is in PARK. Until I an able to get it fixed I am concerned it won't shut-off one of these times, and what happens if it won't shut-off? None of the options are good if I'm driving after hours and the dealer or service center is closed. This can easily turn into a dangerous situation. (Repair is scheduled for next week.) This seems to be a common error reported on many 2016 through 2020 Chevrolet vehicles. There are service bulletins with regard to this problem. Why has Chevrolet/GM not had a recall for this widespread issue of a faulty micro switch?
I have had 2 incidents, and paid for repairs both times. When put in park, SHIFT TO PARK warning lights come on. First time, Oct 4, 2021. Second time Dec 16, 2024. In 2021 I was told there should be a recall, it happens a lot. I'm not seeing recall, and think I should get my money back.
Start and stop function at a stop failed car turns off but when releasing the brakes car doesn't turn back on everything is intermittent and can't reproduce check engine code when car goes in to fix the problem when I put it on L gear so the start and stop function won't try to engage but it doesn't sense its on L gear also back up camera not longer work as well as a.c blower or heater doesn't kick on a lot of electrical problems like if the brain is slowly dropping everything it knows and forgetting how to function also engine reduce and abs light as well as a lot of oil cusumption with no leaks a lot of complaints on these cars and you tube videos why hasn't this been recalled please investigate in an honest investigation please.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving 80 MPH, the brake pedal was depressed but felt rigid, causing the contact to almost stand up and forcefully depress the pedal. The contact stated that the brake pedal responded. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to continue to drive the vehicle at a slower speed. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
When shifting the car into park the vehicle fails to detect when the gear selector has been shifted into Park. I am not able to shut off the vehicle. This is endangering my safety by having to spend extra time maneuvering the shifter in order to be able to turn the car off. I am an elderly female and if I have to spend extra time in my vehicle I am scared someone may take advantage of the situation and harm me. I had the same problem in 2019, brought the vehicle in with 9008 miles on it for repair. The dealer fixed the issue, though apparently only temporarily by removing and replacing the transmission control shifter assembly. The problem reappeared about 2 weeks ago. My vehicle now has just over 13,000 miles There were no warnings before this started happening again.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while her daughter was at a red light, the engine failed to start-up upon depression of the accelerator as the STOP/START feature failed to operate as needed. The "steering assist reduced, drive with care" warning message appeared on the instrument panel. Her daughter was able to restart the vehicle and resumed normal driving; however, the failure continued to occur intermittently. The contact called the dealer and they informed her that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The manufacturer had yet to be notified of the failure. The vehicle had yet to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 46,550.
While pulling into a parking lot, the brake pedal failed to push down, making me to have to exert force on the brake pedal to stop the car. I had been hearing a "grinding" sound but thought it was from the brake pads needing to be replaced and this was incident was from the calipers being over extended. After replacing the brake pads with the new ones (the old ones were only half the size of the new ones and did not need replacing) the brake pedal still did not push easily. I took the vehicle to the repair shop I always use and they affirmed there was a problem and gave the price for the parts (908.37 for the brake vacuum pump and 107.98 for the Brake Fluid Exchange with ABS). There is visible damage to the end of the camshaft from the pump freezing and being torn apart by the camshaft as a result. The total cost of the repairs was $3409.96, which was unexpected. I was quoted $1134 and change originally for parts and labor at the beginning of the problem being addressed.
When driving my car and I stop at a red light and then when the light turns green I accelerate. I notice I get a message on my dashboard power assist and reduce speed. This constantly shows up on my dashboard. I have am appointment with Gm on 9/21/21 to take it in to get service.
STEERING ASSIST REDUCED DRIVE WITH CARE message comes on car screen. The steering wheel jerks and acceleration is reduced. This is putting everyone in my car at risk as we are not able to accelerate fast enough if anything were to happen. Car has been taken to the dealership and they are unable to identify the problem. I checked online and multiple Malibus are having this problem. If you're looking for a safe car for your family member this is not the car. These cars have these errors built in the system and the dealership are unable to find the problem costing a lot of money on diagnostics to get no results. Please notice all the complaints I hope my word is heard. If mine is not heard I hope the next persons will be.
Car accelerates on its own while I’m driving. In addition , without warning the car engines suddenly reduced speed. This has accrued while I’m on the freeway without any warnings.
There needs to be a recall on the third brake light on the Chevy Malibu. Everyone that I speak with that has a Malibu has had to replace the third brake light because of it breaking and when it rains water leaks into the car.
Reduced Engine Power while driving on highway. Car does not go over 20 MPH.
Get "SHIFT TO PARK" after putting car in park to shut it off. I am unable to turn the car off - so do I leave it running in my garage? This is a known error that they charge to fix. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10186071-9999.pdf Attached is my bill to have this known error fixed.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the check engine warning light would remain illuminated. Additionally, after the auto start, the fuel-saving feature was activated, the vehicle was hesitant to restart. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the ignition switch was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The local dealer was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not yet contacted. The failure mileage was 97,000.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated while driving 70 MPH, the vehicle speed reduced message was displayed on the instrument panel, and the vehicle decelerated from 70 to 30 MPH. The contact pulled over and waited for 5 minutes before restarting the vehicle. The message disappeared and the vehicle was driven back to the residence. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I have Taken my car back and forth to the dealer so many times since ive had the 2017 Chevy malibu LT my car lost power once before and now it feels like it wants to lose power again my engine make this off noise it rides rough I have no warning lights on They told me it could be a computer problem and they could not fix it and the all of a sudden it was okay then my gas is running out quick and engine oil and i have a burning smell but they keep saying nothing is wrong it jerks when i shift gears sometimes and it makes a loud noise and no hazards light are on I feel like they are clearing codes and trying to sell me a new car because they keep telling me to trade it in they will buy it back Ive told them i feel like me and my child safety is at risk because I could be driveing and my car can shut down on me and get in a real bad accident im still making payments on the car and dont wanna get another loan for me to pay out more money for another car Ive had car in shop more than Ive drive it I got car with 34,000 miles and it has 54,000 now no car should have all these issues with these miles I have a 6 year old that rides in this car and something gotta be done this putting out lifes at risk
I was going 70mph on the highway, when I got a sudden alarm from the car saying "reduced power". The car would not accelerate and started slowing rapidly, almost resulting in a collision. The car would not go more than 20mph. I had to pull off to the shoulder, restart the car several times, and then was able to get the power to come back, but the check engine light remained on.
My 2017 Malibu (50K miles) has begun giving me the "Shift to Park" error. When I have parked my car, shifted to park, and turn off the ignition I get the display message saying "Shift to Park" even though I have already done that and turned off the car. To clear the message, I have had to restart the car, shift out of park and back into park more forcefully than I want to or, while the ignition is off, push the gear shift harder to park. This error went from 1 a week to multiple times a day. I spoke with GM and they are saying they are not aware of this problem and I will have to pay for repairs out of pocket. I read today that a class action suit has been filed specifically about this problem. I am hoping with enough owners reporting their shift to park issue, GM will have to issue a recall.
Throttle Position Sensor is falfuctioning. Class action law suit against this already. Chevy Malibu Class Action Lawsuit is Hutchinson v. General Motors LLC, Case No. 8:19-cv-01551, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. Vehicle decelerates at highway speeds down to 20 mph and engine power reduce comes across the screen. Has almost caused me to be in three accidents. Need to recall all malibus and have this part replaced before someone is killed.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at an undisclosed speed going downhill, the brakes failed to engage when the brake pedal was depressed, almost causing a collision. The vehicle struck a curb however, the driver was able to maneuver the steering wheel to go uphill and park the vehicle. The dealer was made aware of the failure but informed the contact to not take the vehicle in for diagnosis. The dealer instead referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that he would be contacted after reviewing the information that was provided. The failure mileage was 70,000.
While pulling out of my driveway in my 2017 Chevy Malibu, my brake pedal pulsed a few times and the pedal would not fully compress. Granted, I was barely moving but the issue made be very nervous. By the time I reached my stop sign, approximately 100ft, the brakes worked normally. This same issue has happened at least a dozen times and, thank fully, never while I was driving at posted speed limits. My OnStar has sent me email notifications acknowledging an ABS issue was detected. After the 3rd time this incident occurred, I did some research and found quite a few owners experiencing this exact issue and some whose brakes failed while driving at speed causing accidents! I have complained to GM, but they are sticking to not knowing anything about this problem and not covering any portion of the repairs. I got the standard canned response that GM will notify owners if and/or when a recall is issued. I am hopeful additional owners will complain so GM has to do something about this.
2017 Malibu with less than 36000 miles, complete shutdown of all power. Engine auto stop shuts down engine but does not restart. Have sat in traffic for 15 minutes or longer before the engine would start. When restarted there is no volume on the radio. Has happened 10 to 12 times in the last 2 months. Dealership said they could not recreate issue and gave a load bull as to why it may happen...
I was driving on the interstate and the dashboard said Engine loss of power. It was very dangerous because it reduced my speed drastically in the middle of traffic! My whole family was in the car and this is the 3rd time this has happened to me since purchasing the car. And now my check engine light is on. I don’t understand why this happens, but defective parts that create this problem put our lives in danger! Why is there not a recall on this? This is very important and should be fixed immediately! I almost wasn’t here to write this so please show me and other owners of these cars in these model years how to not die in your vehicles please?!
Error message on dash "shift to park". The car will not shut off completely with message on. I did some research, and it seems to be happening with a lot of Malibus and GMs. This is the second time it happens on my 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. My car is still fairly new with only 35k miles. The first time warranty covered it (shifter was replaced), but I'm not so sure if they will cover this second time. This is a manufacturer error and we should not have to pay the price every time this happens.
The contact owned a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while her husband was driving at undisclosed speeds, without warning as the brake pedal was depressed the vehicle accelerated forward independently. The contact depressed the brake pedal again the vehicle failed to stop causing, the vehicle to crash into the other vehicle in front. No airbag deployed. No police report was filed. The contact and the passenger sustained severe whiplash, 1 week later the contact and his wife sought medical attention and checked in a hospital. The insurance company was contacted and towed the vehicle to the collision shop where it was deemed a total loss. The contact mentioned that the other vehicle was totaled as well. The dealer nor the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 56,000. The VIN was not available.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that after pulling the vehicle into the driveway and attempting to shift the vehicle into Park; however, the engine revved up as if trying to accelerate forward. There was an error message on the instrument to shift the vehicle to Park however, the vehicle failed to remain in Park. After several attempts, the vehicle was shifted into Park and remained in Park. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the gear shifter wiring harness and switch were damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 7,210.
Brak Vacuum pump broke when on freeway making pedal very hard to push I am 200 hundred pounds and took alot to get the car to stop warning light did not come on tell I pumped the brakes .took pump off to find something that looked like Carbon build-up in the oil Screen on the pump took pump apart to find the inside Is broken in many places and the out side gear or shaft broken too I do
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while stationary at a stop light and attempting to depress the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to respond as intended, and the vehicle stalled in the middle of an intersection. The vehicle was previously repaired; however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that the failure usually occurred during summer, on very hot days. The contact also stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure; however, no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 75,000.
For over a year now my car has a weird hesitation when I press the gas and fully have the pedal down it just crawls no more than 8mph then all of sudden it will jump into speed and take off. The shop has had my vehicle for over 3 months and couldnt figure it out just told me to put premium gas in and that still hasnt solved the problem. This car has been NOTHING but problems. Havent even had it three years and its been in the shop for almost 6 months in total
Shift to park error. Micro switch inside shifter not making contact. Dealership replaced shifter control assembly in June 2019 with 9,393 miles on vehicle, Issue repeating June 2021. Same part being replaced by dealership again with 15,000 miles on vehicle. Lots of online complaints. Why no recall?
While driving received recurring check engine light for p2127/p2138 code. Has been to Quirk Chevrolet twice previously for same issue, drives fine for a week or two and light comes back. Third service appointment scheduled for Monday 6/7/21. Recurring issue has made vehicle unusable while effected as car goes into limp mode while in motion limiting speeds to 25mph which was interesting to say the least as it happens while in motion.
Unknown. Anytime I go in reverse, then put it in drive, hit the breaks, let off the breaks and turn you can hear this popping noise coming from the rear. A lot of group forums for 2016-2019 Malibu’s are complaining about this. I have 3 kids and was told this is a safety issue and should be a recall as there are a lot of them out there with same problems! Could possibly get in an accident from this. A lot of forums are saying ball joints, axles, rear arm bushings, suspension knuckles and other things. Chevrolet should really look into this and make it as a recall as someone’s life could be in danger from these issues.
2017 CHEVY MALIBU SHIFT TO PARK NOTIFICATION MESSAGE COMES ON AFTER CAR IS IN PARK AND TURNED OFF. SEEMS TO BE A COMMON ISSUE IN THIS VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE HAS 33, 304 MILES AND IS A NEW USED PURCHASE. ISSUE BEGAN 4 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE AND SEEMS TO BE ONGOING ISSUE WITH GM MOTORS HOWEVER NO RECALL.
Since purchase from dealer at 40,000 miles I have complained numerous times. Dealer can not reproduce and refuses to do anything about it. When driving vehicle with and sometimes with out AC on. The vehicle doesn't want to go. I could have the gas peddle to the floor and it won't accelerate. Does is whenever it wants to seems as if when AC is on it does it the most. This past week the vehicle has thrown a warning steering asist reduced please drive with care. It quickly comes on and then goes back off. The vehicle is also stalling out of no where. I come to a stop light it goes to auto stop then I go to start accelerating and the vehicle will shut down engine light comes on and vehicle will not start back up for a min or 2. Once engine shuts off I put in park and try and start it again it won't. A few mins go by it will start again. I notice if I keep foot on break at a stop light and foot on gas to keep the RPMs up and don't allow it to auto stop it won't shut down. I made a appointment with jud kuhn the dealer I purchased it from. For next week. Hoping they can do somthing about it but chances are they will look at me like I'm crazy like they do every time and tell me no codes or they can't reproduce. I still owe 14,000 on the vehicle I'm livid. My children drive this car and it's extremely unsafe. If dealer doesn't help I'm contacting a lawyer for lemon law please help The acceleration issue started the week I purchased it 2 years ago the stalling started last week. And the steering assist started last week
SPEED REDUCED ON FREEWAY TO 20MPH, SPEED REDUCED WARNING WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON.
At engine shutdown and shifting transmission to PARK, I got "Shift to Park" message on DIC. If vehicle left in this state, the battery will eventually run down and leave driver stranded. Seems to be a common failure mode of the PARK indicator switch.
The contact owns a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked and attempting to power off the vehicle, the vehicle remained running. The shift to park(P) warning light was illuminated. The dealer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.
OBD2 codes ran on vehicle show: P0138 ("O2 sensor circuit High voltage bank 1 sensor 2") P013E (unknown) P2138 ("Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor Switch D/E Voltage Correlation") Vehicle is getting poor fuel mileage and has a drastic delay in acceleration after pressing the gas pedal, putting driver in immediate danger in traffic.
WHILE PARKING, A "PARK TO SHIFT" WARNING COMES ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF UNLESS I JIGGLE THE SHIFTER OR SHIFT THROUGH SEVERAL TIMES. LIGHTS AND RADIO WILL NOT TURN OFF UNTIL WARNING GOES AWAY.
AS WE WERE GOING 75MPH DOWN THE HIGHWAY THE VEHICLE STARTED DEACCELERATING WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WITH THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE APPEARING ON THE SCREEN 'ENGINE POWER REDUCED' WE HAD TO QUICKLY PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO AVOID HAVING A WRECK. AFTER SHUTTING THE CAR OFF FOR A LITTLE BIT THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED. AFTER LOOKING INTO THIS THERE A MULTIPLE PEOPLE WITH THE SAME CAR AND SAME ISSUES, BUT NO RECALL OR INVESTIGATION HAS BEEN STARTED.
MY VECHILE SHUT OFF. AND IT WAS SAYING STERRING ASSIST REDUCED. PLEASE BE CAREFUL. THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME.
AFTER GETTING MY 2017 CHEVY MALIBU MINOR SERVICE A FEW WEEKS LATER AS I WAS DRIVING AND CAME TO A STOP LIGHT WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED GREEN AS I LIFT MY FOOT OFF THE BRAKE I NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL DID A JET AND THE A MESSAGE APPEARED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL THAT SAID SOMETHING LIKE "STEERING ASSIST REDUCED USE CAUTION WHILE DRIVING. THAT WAS THE FIRST TIME NOW I'VE SEEN THE MESSAGE MULTIPLE TIMES AND IT ALWAYS HAPPENS AFTER I'VE COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND THEN RELEASE MY FOOT FROM THE BRAKE PEDAL TO START BACK DRIVING
AS I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A STOP LIGHT ACCELERATING ON THE INTERSTATE ON RAMP FROM 20 TO 40 MPH (APPROXIMATELY) THE "CHECK ENGINE LIGHT" CAME ON, THE ENGINE SLOWED DOWN AND LOST POWER, AND "TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT" CAME ON EVEN THOUGH IT WAS NOT ENGAGED. MY SPEED CONTROL DISENGAGED AND WOULD NOT WORK ON CRUISE CONTROL. WHEN I PULLED IN MY GARAGE (APPROXIMATELY 8 MI) SHUT THE ENGINE OFF AND RESTARTED ALL WARNING LIGHTS CLEARED AND EVERYTHING RESET. THIS CONDITION HAPPENED TO ME TWICW IN THE SAME DAY. THE SUDEEN LOSS OF POWER IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT AND POSSIBLY THE LAST, IN MY FIRST COMPLAINT I REPORTED THE PROBLEM WITH THE CAR AFTER SHOWING A STABILITY TRACK WARNING LIGHT THEN SLOWING TO A 20 MPH VELOCITY IN A SNOW STORM , THEN MY ADVENTURE WITH THE VACUUM PUMP SHATTERING , THUS NO VACUUM, NO BRAKES, ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 70 MPH. AFTER THAT SCARE , IT HAD A CRANK NO START PROBLEM. THAT'S WHERE I ENDED MY FIRST COMPLAINT . PART 2, I COLLECTED MY STIMULUS MONEY AND HAD MY 2017 CHEVY MALIBU LS TOWED TO A CHEVY DEALERSHIP. AFTER THE SERVICE MANAGER ASKED ME FOR THE SPARE FOB, I ASKED HIM COULD THAT BE THE PROBLEM THE BATTERIES WENT LOW AND THE FOB KEYS HAD TO BE RE-PROGRAMED. HE STATED PROBABLY, I WENT HOME HOPING IT WOULD BE SOMETHING MINOR. 3 WEEKS LATER I GET A CALL FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT HE WANTED TO GO THROUGH THE DIAGNOSTIC INSPECTION RESULTS WITH ME, I ASK HIM WAS IT SOMETHING MINOR, HE SAID WE HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO WORK ON THE CRANK, NO START PROBLEM CAUSE YOU HAVE LOW COMPRESSION ON ONE OF YOU ENGINE CYLINDERS YOU NEED A NEW ENGINE, THAT'S NOT MINOR 72,365 MILES, NEW ENGINE , ESTIMATE $8,224.80. STILL PAYING THE BANK FOR IT..THIS GENERATION MALIBU'S ARE NOT EVEN CLOSE TO GOOD. I OWN A 1994 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH 135,000 MILES BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW, RUNS GREAT, THE COST CUTTING IS BEING SACRIFICED FOR QUALITY, AND US CONSUMERS ARE GETTING THE LOW END.
Vehicle has started to make a clanking sound when going in reverse or forward at low speeds. Have taken to multiple mechanics that say there is no visible reason for the issue although they also noticed it when driving. It is alarming that the mechanics cannot find the issue and it is getting worse by the day.
AUGUST 31, 2019 - PURCHASED A 2017 CHEVY MALIBU AT THE DEALERSHIP APRIL 4TH, 2021 - MY CAR HAD A ROUGH RUNNING ENGINE WITH THE INDICATOR LAMP ON. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY CAR TO BE INSPECTED (ATTACHED BELOW), A TECHNICIAN FOUND DTC P0300 SET ALONG WITH A MISFIRE LOW COMPRESSION IN ONE OR MORE CYLINDERS. HE CONCLUDED THE CONDITION WAS CAUSED BY A DAMAGED PISTON. MY MECHANIC SHOWED ME A BULLETIN FROM GM DESCRIBING THIS EXACT ISSUE AND THEN RECOMMEND ME TO GET IN TOUCH WITH THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT THE CAR AND OR THE MANUFACTURER. APRIL 5TH, 2021 - THE GM REPS THAT I TALKED TO CONCLUDED THAT MY WARRANTY ENDED AND DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE FROM THE MANUFACTURE. THEY CLAIMED TO NOT FIND THE BULLETINS THAT I ATTACHED TO THIS FORM.
CAR GOES INTO AN ENGINE POWER REDUCED MODE WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
VEHICLE RANDOMLY PRESENTS AN ENGINE FAILURE MAKING IMPOSSIBLE ANY ACCELERATION. ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AS WELL AS THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. IT DISPLAYS A MESSAGE 'ENGINE POWER IS REDUCED'. THIS FORCES THE DRIVER TO HAVE TO PULL OVER REGARDLESS OF TRAFFIC OR UNSAFE CONDITIONS. THE CAR HAS TO BE TURNED OFF AND BACK ON AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20 SECONDS IN ORDER TO RESET THE TRACTION LIGHT ONLY TO OFF, TO BE ABLE TO CONTINUE DRIVING.
WHILE DRIVING ON MULTIPLE ACCUSATIONS MY ENGINE LIGHT WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF WITHIN MINUTES AND NOT RETURN TILL I TURN THE CAR BACK ON OR WHILE DRIVING LATER ON IN THE DAY OR DAYS AFTER SEEING THE LIGHT COME SO I WAS UNABLE TO BRING IT IN TO GET CHECKED OUT PROPERLY. A MONTH PASSED WHEN THE ISSUE APPEARED AND WHEN I DECIDED TO GO INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO POSSIBLY TRADE IN MY CAR THE LIGHT WAS NOT APPEARING FOR DAYS BEFOREHAND AND THINGS WERE NORMAL TILL A A COUPLE DAYS AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP MY CAR READ ON THE DASH 'REDUCED ENGINE POWER ' I WASN'T ABLE TO ACCELERATE QUICK ENOUGH IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ON MILITARY TRAIL AND BELVEDERE I HAD TO PULL THROUGH A WALMART PARKING LOT TO AVOID ON COMING TRAFFIC AND BRING THE CAR TO MY HOME CLOSE BY VERY SLOW AND SLUGGISH DUE TO NOT GETTING ANY ACCELERATION FROM ME PRESSING ON THE PEDAL. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO REPLACE MY FUEL PUMP SYSTEM AT A COST HOWEVER IT HAS A CURRENT RECALL FOR MY SPECIFIC MAKE AND MODEL.
I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE FOR MY SON IN JANUARY 2017. 3/27/2021, HE WAS DRIVING IT AND LOST POWER ON THE INTERSTATE. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO OVER 25 MILES AN HOUR. HE HAD TO STOP ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND LET IT SIT FOR A WHILE THEN RESTART IT. IT HAPPENED 4 ADDITIONAL TIMES WITHIN 30 MINUTES.
