ENGINE WAS MAKING A KNOCKING SOUND WHILE IDLING. *PH THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT GM WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO FIX. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THE PROBLEM WAS DUE TO A PISTON SLAP. *JB
RE: ANTILOCK BRAKE ENGAGEMENT AT LOW SPEEDS I OWN A 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO LS 1500 4-DR, VIN [XXX]. I HAVE HAD IT INTO A BRAKE SHOP TWICE OVER THE LAST 3 YEARS FOR THE ANTILOCK ENGAGING AT LOW SPEEDS (3-5MPH). THE ANTILOCK ALARM DOES NOT LIGHT UP. I FINALLY GOT DISGUSTED WHEN IT STARTED DOING IT AGAIN THIS WINTER AND PULLED THE FUSE FOR THE ABS SYSTEM. BOTH REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED AT THE BRAKE AND ALIGNMENT SERVICE CENTER 1770 BARLOW, TRAVERSE CITY, MI 231-947-2600. EACH TIME THEY IDENTIFIED THE ABS SENSOR FOR A SINGLE WHEEL ENGAGING INAPPROPRIATELY AT VERY LOW SPEED. I DO NOT HAVE THE EXACT DATES OF THE REPAIRS HANDY, BUT CAN GET THEM FROM THE ABOVE BUSINESS IF NEEDED. THE INCIDENT DATE BELOW IS MY BEST GUESS AT THE MOMENT FOR WHEN THIS FIRST STARTED. I CAN TELL YOU THAT THERE IS GREAT POTENTIAL FOR LOW SPEED ACCIDENTS AT INTERSECTIONS WITH THIS DEFECT. WHEN THE ABS SYSTEM ENGAGES, THE VEHICLE DOES NOT BRAKE EFFECTIVELY AT ALL. THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS TO BE RELEASED BRIEFLY AND THEN PRESSED AGAIN TO ENGAGE THE NORMAL BRAKING ACTION. WHEN THE BUTTON FOR THE DOME LIGHT WAS PUSHED, THE HEADLIGHTS WENT OFF. DEALER WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. TS THE INCIDENT CAUSED THE CONSUMER TO RUN OFF THE ROAD. *JG
THE CONSUMER HAS EXPERIENCED THE FOLLOWING: WHEN THE ANTILOCK IS ENGAGED, THE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR (ON SLOW BRAKING/IT WILL CYCLE THE ABS), THE HUB RUSTS AND RENDERS THE WHEEL, AND THE SPEED LEFT FRONT SENSOR IS INACCURATE AND WAS DROPPING OUT AT 6 MPH AND UNDER. SCC
VEHICLE WAS IN A FRONT COLLISON AND NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED UPON IMPACT. NONE OF THE OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE WERE SERIOUSLY INJURED AT TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS. TS
CONSUMER STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP "MELTED" WHILE DRIVING. DEALER ADVISED CAUSED BY FAULTY FUEL FILTER. CONSUMER REPORTED THAT FUEL FILTER WAS REPLACED IN 08/02. TS
THE RUBBER HOSES RUN FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK THEN DOWN THE FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK, ARE LOOSELY CLAMPED, THEN CONNECT TO THE METAL LINES THAT RUN ALONG THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK. THE CLAMPS APPEAR TO BE HARD SHARP-EDGED PLASTIC. MY PROBLEM IS THAT THE ONE LINE COMPLETELY FAILED AND WAS LEAKING. THEN SPRAYING GAS FROM BENEATH THE TRUCK. THE DANGER OF HEAT FROM THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER SETTING THE TRUCK ON FIRE WAS MY PRIMARY CONCERN. I CONTACTED THE CHEVROLET CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AND THEY OPENED TICKET 1-48530166. THEY ADVISED ME TO GET THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTHORIZED CHEVROLET DEALER WHICH I DID. THEY HAVE ESTIMATED THE REPAIR COST TO BE $370. I FEEL THAT THIS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED IMMEDIATELY. THE ASSEMBLY IS MICKEY MOUSE AT BEST. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 40000 MILES AND ALREADY THESE LINES HAVE WORN THROUGH SPRAYING FUEL UNDERNEATH MY VEHICLE. IT IS HARD TO IMAGINE THAT CHEVROLET HAS NOT SEEN THIS ALREADY YET NO MENTION IS MADE OF THIS PROBLEM ON THEIR WEB SITE. OF COURSE NOT MANY 2000 TRUCKS WILL HAVE 40000 MILES ON THEM YET. I WILL BE HAPPY TO COOPERATE IN ANY MANNER ON THIS ISSUE. DT
CONSUMER STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOOR WOULD AUTOMATICALLY CLOSE WITHOUT CONSUMER PUSHING THE BUTTON. DEALER NOTIFIED. MR
DURING ROUTINE INSPECTION MECHANIC NOTICED THE FRONT ROTORS WERE SEPARATING AND RUSTY AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. MR
EMERGENCY BRAKE DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. *BF AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WILL ROLL ON AN INCLINE. PROBLEMS WITH THE FUEL GAUGE. SPARE TIRE HOIST DID NOT WORK PROPERLY. *TT
RIGHT WINDOW WENT DOWN AND NEVER WAS ABLE TO MAKE IT CLOSE. UPON TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR I WAS INFORMED THAT PART #15095844 REGULATOR FAILED. THIS WINDOW WAS NEVER HARDLY USED. MILAGE IS NOT A FACTOR BUT DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE IT. HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THEY SO MUCH AS TOLD ME TO GO AWAY THEY CAN NOT HELP. TALKING TO THE PARTS DEPT. THEY SAID THAT THEY ARE SEEING MORE OF THESE REGULATORS FAILING. DT
PARKING BRAKE (EMERGENCY BRAKE) ON MY 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WILL NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE. HAVE DISCOVERED THROUGH INTERNET WEB SITES THAT IT IS NOT JUST MY VEHICLE, BUT THOUSANDS HAVE THE EXACT PROBLEM. DISCUSSED WITH THE LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT GM IS AWARE OF THE POOR/FAULTY DESIGN BUT WILL NOT ADDRESS THE PROBLEM UNLESS, OF COURSE, I WANT TO PAY TO HAVE IT FIXED. DO NOT FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THEIR MISTAKE. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY PROBLEM BY IT NOT BEING ABLE TO HOLD THE VEHICLE. FEEL NHTSA SHOULD FORCE GM TO INSPECT AND FIX ANY THAT HAVE A PROBLEM BEFORE THEY END UP GETTING SUED BECAUSE SOMEONE'S CHILD GOT RUN OVER BY A ROLLING VEHICLE. SHOULD NOT HAVE TO WAIT FOR DEATHS OR INJURIES TO OCCUR BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT IT!*JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AND NO WARNING THE BRAKE CALIPER ARE GRINDING TOGETHER CAUSING EXTEND STOPPING DISTANCE. DEALER NOTIFIED. MR
WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP, VEHICLE WILL SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF PROPER GEAR. *MR
I HEARD NOISE FROM THE FRONT LEFT WHEEL. JACKED UP THE TRUCK AND FOUND THE ENTIRE WHEEL LOOSE. TOOK THE TRUCK TO THE DEALERSHIP, THEY TORQUED THE HUB NUT AND SAID IT WAS FINE TO DRIVE. TOOK THE TRUCK ON A TRIP AND HAD CONSTANT PROBLEMS AND NOISE FROM THAT SIDE OF VEHICLE. RETURNED THE TRUCK TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT NEEDED A NEW HUB BUT WAS OK TO DRIVE. DROVE TO A CONFERENCE 200MILES AWAY AND BROKE DOWN. TOWED THE TRUCK TO A DIFFERENT DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT BOTH HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TRUCK HAS 75K MILES ON IT. I WAS TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISORS AT BOTH DEALERSHIPS THAT THEY HAD SEEN THIS PROBLEM SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS MODEL TRUCK. I ASKED IF GM WAS LOOKING AT A POSSIBLE RECALL AND GOT A NEGATIVE. I CALLED GM CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT (CASE# 1-60491961) AND WAS POLITELY TOLD THAT SINCE I WASN'T THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND THE TRUCK WAS OUT OF WARRANTY "TUFF BEANS." I TOLD THE REP I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY GM WOULD WANT TO WAIT FOR AN ACCIDENT WITH INJURIES TO LOOK INTO THIS TYPE OF A PROBLEM. NO RESPONSE. IF THE LOOSE, OR IMPROPERLY TORQUED, HUB NUT CAUSED THE HUB TO FAIL, SEEMS LIKE THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR GM TO CONSIDER. TS
WE HAVE A 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO THAT BOTH OF THE TAIL GATE CABLES HAVE BROKEN. *LA
CONSUMER WAS TRAVELING AROUND A CURVE, CONSUMER SUDDENLY LOST CONTROL OF VEHICLE. CONSUMER STATES VEHICLE SLAMMED INTO A TREE AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. MR
DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS KEEP BURNING OUT. I HAVE ORDER 9 LIGHTS OVER 2 YEARS, AFTER ABOUT THE 5TH LIGHT GOING OUT I'M ASSUMING THERE IS A LOSE OF GROUND, OR IMPROPER FABRACATION OF THE UNIT THAT HOLDS THE LIGHT IN PLACE, ONE WAY OR ANOTHER SOMETHING IS MAKING THE LIGHT TO MAKE A LOUD POP WHEN IT BURNS OUT, LOUD ENUGH TO HEAR IT OVER THE RADIO.*AK
THE PARKING BRAKE SHOES ARE NOT ANCHORED PROPERLY DUE TO POOR DESIGN CAUSING THEM TO DRAG CONTINUOUSLY WHILE DRIVING. THE SHOES WEAR OUT AS DO THE DRUMS WITHIN THE ROTORS CAUSING LOSS OF PARKING BRAKE ACTION. THIS CAN OCCUR UNEXPECTEDLY ALLOWING THE VEHICLE TO ROLL AND POSSIBLY IMPACT A PEDESTRIAN OR OTHER OBJECT. THE DEALER (TROPICAL CHEVROLET) ADVISES THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM AND HAS REPAIRED SEVERAL VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUES USING ORIGINAL PARTS. A KIT IS FORTHCOMING TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM, HOWEVER GM WILL NOT ISSUE A RECALL. THE PROBLEM WILL REPEAT ITESLF UNTIL A CORRECTION IS MADE.*AK

CONSUMER STATES WHIEN VEHICLE COME TO A STOP THE ACCELERATOR PEDEL STICKS CAUSING THE VEHICAL TO SPEED OFF WHEN IT CATCHES. NLM
CONSUMER STATES THAT FOOT HANGS UNDER A PIECE OF MOLDING THAT HOLDS FOOT ONTO ACCELERATER THAT MAKES IT IMPOSSIBLE TO RELEASE FREELY. THE ONLY WAY TO REMOVE FOOT FROM ACCELERATER IS TO PRESS DOWN ACCELERATER MORE OR MOVE FOOT SLIGHTLY TO THE LEFT AND PICK UP FOOT. CONSUMER FEELS THIS IS DANGEROUS BECAUSE WHEN YOU NEED TO STOP THERES NO TIME TO MOVE FOOT OVER AND LIFT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*JB
FUEL GAUGE STOPPED WORKING . *AK
I HAVE PROBLEMS WITH MY BRAKES AND STEERING WHEN I AM BRAKING AND TURNING RIGHT OR LEFT. THE POWER STEERING COMPLETELY GO OUT . I HAVE TO USE ALL ME STRENGTH TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. ONCE YOU COMPLETE THE TURN AND LET OFF THE BRAKE THE POWER STEERING COMES BACK THE STEERING WHEEL JERKS BACK IN PLACE. I HAVE REPLACED THE BOOSTER, SUPPLY LINES ON BRAKES, POWER STEERING PUMP AND SUPPLY LINES AND TRUCK STILLS HAS SAME PROBLEM. THE MECHANICS TELL ME THAT IT IS A DESIGN PROBLEM AND CHEVROLET WILL NOT RECALL AND REPAIR. ALL OWNERS OF THESE TRUCKS NEED HELP AS THIS IS A VERY DANGERS PROBLEM. I HAVE JUST SEEN ON THE NEWS THAT CHEVROLET IS RECALLING A LOT OF VEHICLES AND MY MODEL NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED ALSO. *TR

VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40MPH.*AK CONSUMER STATED THE ROAD WAS UNEVEN AND THE RIGHT SIDE TIRES WAS CAUGHT IN A WASHOUT, CONSUMER TRIED TO BRING THE TIRES BACK ON THE ROAD BUT OVERCORECTED, THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO FISHTAIL AFTER COMING BACK ON THE ROAD, SLID ACROSS THE HIGHWAY AND HIT A TREE, THE DRIVER SUFFERED INJURIES.*JB

THE 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CRASHED HEAD ON INTO A TREE, THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE DRIVER, DAKOTA KANETZKY, HAD NUMEROUS FACIAL FRACTURES CAUSED WHEN HIS HEAD HIT AND CRACKED THE WINDSHIELD. HE WAS HOSPITALIZED FOR 5 DAYS AND IS STILL UNDER A DOCTOR'S CARE.*AK
MY BRAKES FAILED, I REPLACED MY BRAKES AND I WAS NEVER INFORMED BY GENERAL MOTORS THAT THERE WAS A RECALL. 8/22/02: REPLACED FRONT DISC PADS, REPLACED FRONT BRAKE ROTORS, CLEANED CALIPER SLIDES AND HARDWARE, REPLACED REAR DISC PADS, REPLACED REAR BRAKE ROTORS, CLEANED CALIPER SLIDES AND HARDWARE ON BACK ALSO. ALSO REPLACED LEFT REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE BAND/CABLE AND HARDWARE. 8/21/03: REPLACED TAILGATE HANDLE. 7/5/05: REPLACED TAILGATE CABLE BECAUSE IT HAD BROKE IN HALF. 7/13/05: REPLACE U-JOINTS. 11/1/05: HAD TRANSMISSION SERVICED-FILTER AND FLUSH AND WAS TOLD THAT THE TRANSFER CASE SELECT MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WHILE AT THE DEALER GETTING THE AIR BAG ADJUSTED WE ASKED THE DEALER IF THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE TAILGATE CABLE, AS OURS WAS BUSTED, WE WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WAS A DEALER RECALL, BUT OUR TRUCK WAS NOT ONE OF THOSE RECALLED SO WE HAD TO PAY FOR THE CABLE OURSELVES AT A COST OF $16.22. UNTIL WE WENT IN FOR THE AIR BAG RECALL WE HAD NEVER BEEN INFORMED ABOUT ANY RECALLS. WE WERE JUST INFORMED ABOUT THE ABS RECALL AND WE INFORMED GM THAT WE HAD REPLACED THE RECALLED PARTS AND WERE OFFERED $60.00 FOR WHAT COST US $826.60. THIS GOES ALONG WITH MY OTHER COMPLAINT, #10142457. *JB
DEVICE USED TO LOWER THE SPARE TIRE SO IT CAN BE REMOVED HAS A DESIGN FLAW, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPERATE.CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
GAS PEDAL IS HARD TO PUSH WHEN TAKING OFF, CAUSING TRUCK TO LUNGE FORWARD WHEN MOVING FROM A STOP.*AK
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE LIGHT COMES ON FREQUENTLY AND AS A RESULT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES DON'T WORK. AFTER TWO TRIPS TO THE DEALER, WAS TOLD TWO DIFFERENT COMPONENTS COULD BE AT FAULT, EACH COST BETWEEN $650-750 TO REPAIR AND THAT THEY WEREN'T SURE WHICH COMPONENT WAS AT FAULT.
TAILGATE CABLE BROKE WHILE KNEELING ON IT 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. *LA
WHILE DRIVING THROUGH A PARKING LOT LOST COMPLETE STEERING CONTROL OF VEHICLE. TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALER, AND THEY STATED THAT BOLTS THAT HOLD STEERING LINKAGE TO SHAFT OF STEERING BOX BROKE. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
PERSON FOLLOWING ME INDICATED OTHER REAR TIRE APPEARS SEPARATING ALSO. *AK
STATE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT THE FRONT AND REAR ROTORS AND FRONT AND REAR BRAKE PADS HAD RUSTED OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *TT *JB

VEHICLE TURNS FINE TO THE LEFT. POWER STEERING FAILS EVERY TIME YOU TURN TO THE RIGHT. THERE IS A "WHINING" NOISE INSIDE THE CAB WHEN YOU TURN TO THE RIGHT.*AK

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY DURING A FRONTAL COLLISION. ONE MONTH LATER THE CONSUMER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE RELATED TO A FAULTY AIR BAG MODULE. *SCC *NLM
DT: THE CONSUMER STATES THAT 2000 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WAS HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SYSTEM. WHEN THE CONSUMER PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKES THEY SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE GRINDING. THE ABS WAS ENGAGED AT LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN CHECKED BY A REPAIR SHOP, AND WAS HAVING THE SENSORS CLEANED. THE CONSUMER HAS BEEN IN CONTACT WITH GM, AND THEY SAID THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE A RECALL. THE CONSUMER HAS REPLACED THE ROTORS AND PADS. THE SPEED WAS 10 MPH OR BELOW.*AK
WHILE DRIVING, AND IF VEHICLE HIT A BUMP ANTI LOCK BRAKES WILL ACTIVATE, CAUSING VEHICLE TO PULSATE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
FAILURE OF PARKING BRAKE AT 25,000 MILES. BRAKE SHOE DROPPED INTO DRUM WEARING DRUM OUT. SHOES WERE STILL INTACT. COST TO ME WAS $450.00 AND DENIAL OF DEALER OF ANY DEFECTS IN SYSTEM. DEALER CLAIMED DAMAGE WAS DONE DUE TO DRIVING WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE ON. LOUD BELL SOUNDS IF VEHICLE IS MOVED WITH BRAKE ON. NO ONE WOULD DRIVE WITH BELL SOUNDING.

WHILE DRIVING AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE THROTTLE PEDAL WILL GET STUCK, AND WILL STAY AT THE SAME SPEED, CAUSING IT TO BE HARD FOR CONSUMER TO STOP. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK
