I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THIS VERY WELL MAINTAINED SILVERADO. AT JUST 100000 MILES I NOTICED MULTIPLE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKEN, I HAD NOTICED A TICKING SOUND FOR AT LEAST 10000 MILES BUT COULD NOT LOCATE THE SOUND, AS IT TURNS OUT IT WAS THE BROKEN EXHAUST BOLTS. THESE BOLTS BREAK OFF AT VARYING LENGTHS INCLUDING BELOW FLUSH WHICH IS EXTREMELY COSTLY TO HAVE REPLACED. AFTER A BRIEF INTERNET SEARCH I HAVE REALIZED THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WITH A MAJORITY OF THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS DEFINITELY AN EPA CONCERN BEING THE RAW GASSES ARE FLOWING OUT OF THE VEHICLE BYPASSING THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND BY NOT ALLOWING THESE VEHICLES TO PASS REGULATORY SMOG CERTIFICATIONS. THIS DEFECT COULD ALSO BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY CONCERN WITH THE POTENTIAL FOR THE EXHAUST GASSES TO GET INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT. I TRULY HOPE THAT YOU CAN INVESTIGATE THESE DEFECTIVE BOLTS AND AT THE VERY LEAST GET CHEVROLET TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE AND HELP WITH A PORTION OF THE COST TO REPAIR.
MY TRUCK ONLY HAS 61,000 MILES ON IT AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR ONE DAY ON MY WAY TO WORK. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THE PRICE TO FIX WAS $2,130.00 , I WATCHED A NEWS REPORT AND EVEN A SINGLE OWNER OF SIMILAR TRUCK WHO HAD IT WASHED EVERY WEEK HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. THE TRUCK SHOULD HAVE BEEN DESIGNED WITH A GUARD PROTECTING THE BRAKES.
BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO MASSIVE, SYSTEM WIDE, CORROSION. ALL LINES SHOW EVIDENCE OF DETERIORATION. THIS IS NOT NORMAL. WHILE DRIVING, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR DURING A NORMAL, IN TOWN STOP. WAS ABLE TO STOP BEFORE REAR ENDING ANOTHER CAR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000. UPDATED 12/20/16*LJ *TR THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WERE ALSO PROBLEMS WITH THE BRAKES. *TR
MY 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD WITH 111,000 MILES HAD A TOTAL LOSS OF BRAKING IN MY DRIVEWAY WHILE MOVING THE TRUCK FROM ONE SPOT TO ANOTHER. UPON INSPECTION OF THE TRUCK THERE WAS NO BRAKE FLUID IN THE RESERVOIR AND THE AREA UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT WAS WET WITH BRAKE FLUID. INSPECTION OF THE BRAKE LINES FOUND SEVERE CORROSION ON THE LINES. THERE WAS NO PARTIAL BRAKING EFFORT, BRAKING WENT TO ZERO. I WAS READY TO PICK UP A NEW 7600LB TRAVEL TRAILER THIS WEEK AND WE CAME CLOSE TO A TRAGEDY. LOCAL DEALER IN GETTYSBURG, PA SAID THERE WAS NO RECALL OR "SILENT RECALL".
TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP DUE TO RUSTED BRAKE LINE. BRAKE LINES LEADING TO REAR BRAKES AND LEFT FRONT RUSTED THROUGH AND BLED OUT. I WAS TRAVELLING 55MPH.
WHEN THE PARKING BREAK IS PRESSED DOWN THE TRUCK IS DRIVABLE.
EVAPORATED SYSTEM.
ABS ENGAGED MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP AND CAUSING ME TO RUN OVER PARKING LOT STOP CURB AND ALMOST DOWN INTO A LAKE. MY GRANDMA CHEVROLET AND THEY SAID IT HAD BEEN FIXED IN 2008 UNDER A RECALL AND AS SUCH WOULDN'T FIX IT AGAIN EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM SUPPOSEDLY FIXED.
BRAKES FAILED. RUPTURED BRAKE LINE & BARELY AVOIDED ACCIDENT. ON A STREET, VEHICLE MOVING.
THIS IS THE 5TH TIME MY BRAKES ARE HANGING UP AND OVER HEATING THE WHEEL. SMOKING SEVERLY. HAD PROBLEM WITH ABS. SYSTEM SO I UNPLUGGED SENSORS FROM FRONT WHEELS. AND ON THE 1ST THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE DID IT AGAIN. DOESN'T MATTER IF ON STATE HWY OR CITY STREETS. ALWAYS STARTS WHEN MOVING. A WOBBLE IN STEERING WHEEL. THEN PULLING RIGHT OR LEFT DEPENDING ON WHICH WHEEL IS LOCKING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND CAUSED THE ABS PUMP TO LOCK UP. THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 157,000. UPDATED 04/18/17 *LJ *JS
WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO STOP, WHILE AT LOW SPEED, USING THE BRAKES ENGAGES THE ABS SYSTEM AND STEERING BECOMES SUDDENLY DIFFICULT.
BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH, FAIL FAILURE DO TO FAULTY BRAKE LINES. WHY ARNT BRAKE LINES STAINLESS STEEL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFTEY HAZZARD. NEED TO BE RECALLED.
VEHICLE WAS DRIVING/BRAKING FINE IN/AROUND TOWN AND ON HIGHWAY. NOTICED THAT IT WAS BECOMING HARDER TO GET TRUCK TO STOP AS BRAKE PEDAL WAS GRADUALLY GETTING CLOSER TO FLOOR BEFORE BRAKES WOULD START SLOWING TRUCK DOWN. STOPPED AT RESTAURANT TO EAT, WHEN I CAME BACK OUT TO LEAVE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. HAD TRUCK TOWED TO A MECHANIC I TRUST. HE INFORMED ME THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR THIS MODEL AND YEAR VEHICLE. HE ALSO SAID THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND THAT ONE HAD RUPTURED (IT WAS SPRAYING A MIST WHEN THE PEDAL WAS PUSHED). HE REPAIRED THE RUPTURED LINE, TOPPED OFF THE FLUID, AND BLED THE BRAKES, BRAKES WORK AGAIN, BUT I'M CONCERNED THAT THE OTHER CORRODED LINES MAY RUPTURE WHEN I NEED THE BRAKES THE MOST. COST OF THIS REPAIR INSTANCE WAS $387. DEALER QUOTE TO REPLACE ALL THE LINES WAS $1500. MECHANIC SAID THAT THE LINES ALL RUN VERY CLOSE TO EACH OTHER AND IN SOME INSTANCES RUB AGAINST EACH OTHER. MECHANIC SAID THAT CHEVROLET OFFERS A "KIT" CONTAINING ALL OF THE LINES EXCEPT FOR THE TWO LINES TO THE REAR WHEELS. THE LINES IN THIS KIT ARE EPOXY-COATED TO PREVENT FUTURE CORROSION. HOWEVER, DUE TO TIGHT QUARTERS AND CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE OTHER BRAKE LINES, REPLACEMENT OF ALL OF THESE BRAKE LINES IS VERY DIFFICULT. THIS VEHICLE IS LOCATED IN VIRGINIA, WHICH WAS NOT ONE OF THE SALT STATES INDICATED IN A NOW-CLOSED RECALL (EA-11-001).
CRACKED DASHBOARD
TRANNY, ABS, COOLING SYSTEM, TAILGATE, ETC. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK 2003 DIDN'T EXCHANGE TITLE UNTIL LATER RECALL WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT UNDER 50,000 MILE WARRANTY. I FILE AN COMPLAIN RECALL REPAIR STILL HAVING SAME PROBLEM. SAD THING MY FATHER IS AN RETIRED EMPLOYEE IN DALLAS LOCATION. RESEARCHED THE RECALLS FROM PREVIOUSLY AND PRESENT SAME RESULTS. THEY HAVE UNTIL 2 DAYS TO CONTACT ME @ [XXX] IN GOING TO THE WAREHOUSE AND RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE OWNER, CFO, CEO WHOMEVER AND ASK FOR A FULL REFUND OR I'M FILING AN COMPLAINT AND SMALL CLAMS FOR 30 YRS WORTH. HERE I AM 2016 AND THE THIRD TIME I HAVE TO REPLACE RUSTED CORROSIVE BRAKE LINES AND FUEL LINES. THIS TIME I ONLY PUT 3500 MILES ON THE TRUCK SINCE THE LAST TIME. THEY ARE ON THE VERGE OR BLOWING OUT, THE FIRST TWO TIMES THEY DID AND LUCKY WAS ABLE TO STOP. THE FUEL LINE IS GONE AGAIN ALSO. WHY??
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH, THE VEHICLE EMITTED SMOKE. THE CONTACT STATED THERE WAS EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF TRANSMISSION FLUID UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE TRANSFER CASE WAS FRACTURED AROUND TRANSFER CASE HOUSING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
THE BREAK LINES ON MY 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO FAILED CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO REPLACE ALL OF THEM. THEY RUSTED THROUGH
WHILE DRIVING ON A RURAL COUNTRY ROAD I SOUNDLY AND WITHOUT WARNONG LOST MY POWER BRAKES AND STEERING. . STEERING WAS VERY DIFFICULT AND BRAKES WERE ALMOST NOT FUNCTIONAL. I TOOK A GREAT EFFORT TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND APPLY THE BRAKES TO SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE. IF I WAS TRAVELING IN TRAFFIC AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS I COULD NOT CONTROL AND SAFELY STOP THE VEHICLE.. I IMMEDIATELY PARKED THE VEHICLE AND HAD IT TOWED TO A NEARBY DEALERSHIP. THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS REPLACED. SO THE POWER STEERING PUMP MALFUNCTIONED (BROKEN SHAFT) WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERWAY.. THE POWER STEERING MALFUNCTION AFFECTED BOTH THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES AND THERE WAS NO WARNING. I FEEL THIS IS A POOR DESIGN. MINIMALLY THERE SHOULD BE SOME SORT OF WARNING WHEN THE POWER STEERING AND OR POWER BRAKES ARE COMPROMISED. AS I UNDERSTAND IT THIS SAME ISSUE OCCURS WHEN THE SERPENTINE BELT FAILS. THE BELT WILL FAIL WHEN THE BELT TENSIONER DOES. AGAIN NO WARNING WHEN THIS OCCURS.
AT SPEEDS LOWER THAN 5 MPH, ABS BRAKING SYSTEM ENGAGES ON DRY OR WET PAVEMENT RESULTING IN FAILURE TO STOP THE VEHICLE. EXAMPLE - PULLING INTO A PARKING SPOT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP AND RESULTED IN BUMPING INTO NEXT VEHICLE. ALSO AT A STOP SIGN/LIGHTED INTERSECTION, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP RESULTING IN VEHICLE GOING INTO THE INTERSECTION AND ONCOMING TRAFFIC.
ALL BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND WILL NEED TO BE REPLACED. WE JUST PURCHASED THEN TRUCK USED. MY MECHANIC INSPECTED THE TRUCK.FOR A NOISE IN THE STEERING, THATS WHEN HE DISCOVERED THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES HE INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD BLOW A LINE AND ANYTIME DUE TO THE RUSTED LINES. HE RECOMMENDED REPLACING ALL OF THE LINES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD EQUIPPED WITH BF GOODRICH RUGGED TERRAIN T/A TIRES, SIZE: LT285/75/R16 (NA). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOBBLED WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THERE WAS TREAD SEPARATION FROM THE FRONT AND REAR TIRES. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURE WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,173 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE STOPPED AFTER CRASHING INTO A CURB. THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINE WAS RUSTED AND FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,523. UPDATED 1/15/16 *CN
FUEL GAUGE WILL DROP TO EMPTY AND FUEL LIGHTS LIGHT COMES ON EVEN THOUGH THERE IS MORE THAN A HALF TANK OF GAS I USUALLY KEEP TANK ONCE IT DROPS TO BELOW A HALF TANK. SOMETIME I JINGLE MY KEYS AND IT WILL GO BACK UP SOMETIMES NOTHING.

THE CONTACT INJURED BOTH LEGS, KNEES, AND RIBS THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 194,000.
TURNS OFF BY ITSELF
BRAKE LINE RUPTURED WHILE TOWING LOAD. 76000 MILES ON THE TRUCK. I HAVE OWNED THIS TRUCK SINCE 2004 AND HAVE PARKED IT INSIDE SINCE OWNING IT. ANNUAL INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE ON DRIVE TRAIN BY MECHANIC. NO WARNING THAT THE BRAKES WOULD FAIL. BRAKE LINE OVER REAR AXLE LEAKING FLUID. HAD THE BOAT/TRAILER TOWED HOME BY FRIEND AND TOOK TRUCK TO REPAIR SHOP FOR REPAIR.
WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEEDS AND COMING TO A STOP MY ABS SYSTEM WILL ACTIVATE ON DRY PAVEMENT. THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY STOP I MAKE. THIS CAUSES INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE AND CREATES A LARGE SAFETY RISK.
WHILE DRIVING MY TRUCK ON HIGHWAY 70, THE TRAFFIC SLOWED, I ATTEMPTED TO SLOW DOWN, BUT MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR (RUSTED BRAKE LINES RUPTURED CAUSING TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE) AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I WHIPPED THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT TO AVOID REAR ENDING UP COMING CARS. I MANAGED TO SLOW THE TRUCK DOWN BY PULLING DOWN TO 1ST AND WAS ABLE TO GET TO AN OFF RAMP, BUT WAS UNABLE TO STOP, BEFORE HITTING ANOTHER CAR AND A SIGN POLE. I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS THAT HAD FAR MORE MILES THAN MY TRUCK AND WERE NOT TAKEN CARE OF LIKE THIS TRUCK. NEVER HAVE I HAD A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE ON ANY OTHER CAR. THIS SHOULD NOT EVER HAPPEN, NO MATTER WHERE YOU LIVE, SNOW REMOVAL METHODS, ETC. I WAS LUCKY, I COULD HAVE KILLED OR SERIOUSLY INJURED SOMEONE. I WOULD BET THERE HAS ALREADY BEEN MANY FATAL ACCIDENTS DUE TO THESE POOR BRAKE LINE BEING INSTALLED ON TRUCKS.
COMING BACK FROM STORE ,WENT TO TURN IN DRIVEWAY TO HOUSE NO BRAKES RAN OFF IN GRASS AND CREEK.FRONT AND BACK BRAKES BOTH LEAKING AND RUSTED BAD.HAD THIS TRUCK SINCE 07 AND TAKEN CARE OF .CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY WHAT SHOP WANTS TO FIX. GM NEEDS RECALL TRUCKS WITH THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS BAD HURT OR KILLED.
A STEEL BRAKE LINE CRACKED AND FAILED. I WAS AT MY HOUSE WHEN IT HAPPENED SO NO SERIOUS INJURIES OR DAMAGE. HOWEVER, THE BRAKE FAILED COMPLETELY AND INSTANTLY WITH NO WARNING. IT COULD HAVE OCCURRED AT AN INTERSECTION AND THE RESULTS COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE. I HAD MY WIFE PRESS ON THE PEDAL WHILE I LOOKED FOR THE LEAK. IT WAS ALONG THE LENGTH OF THE STEEL LINE ROUTING FROM THE ABS MODULE TO THE FRONT RIGHT BRAKE. IT CREATES A MIST OF FLUID NEAR THE RADIATOR. MY NEXT CONCERN IS THAT THE FLUID WILL CAUSE FURTHER CORROSION OF THE PARTS IT SPRAYED.
ENGINE STOPS RUNNING IN ALL KIND OF TRAFFIC AND SPEEDS, CAUSING A LOSS OF BRAKES AND CONTROL OF VEHICLE. IT TAKES MANY TRIES TO RESTART. I HAVE FOUND THAT NHTSAEA06016 HAS CALLED FOR RECALL, BUT DEALERS WILL NOT ADDRESS THIS SAFETY PROBLEM.THIS VEHICLE HAS THE 8.1 ENGINE THAT IS NAMED IN YOUR WRITE-UP.12

THE CONTACT HAD TO WAIT FOR THE ENGINE TO COOL DOWN BEFORE THE VEHICLE COULD BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 07V521000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
EMERGENCY LIGHT SWITCH ON STEERING COLUMN BROKE OFF. I NOTICED IT WAS BROKEN AFTER I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE ON CRAIG'S LIST. THE SWITCH COULD HAVE BEEN BROKEN FOR YEARS.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE PIN IN THE PITMAN ARM SHEARED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I WAS LEAVING MY PROPERTY GOING UP THE DRIVEWAY, I PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AND NO BRAKES AT ALL. I HAD MY WIFE PUMP THE PEDAL AND COULD SEE BRAKE FLUID SHOOTING FROM A RUSTED LINE. I'M GLAD I DIDN'T GET OUT ON THE HIGHWAY. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BRAKE LINES RUSTING OUT! I HAVE CARS FROM THE 60'S WITH ORIGINAL LINES. PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BEFORE SOME ONE GETS HURT OR WORSE.

I WAS DRIVING MY 2001 CHEVY 2500HD AND COMING INTO TRAFFIC THE TRUCK SLOWED DOWN AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. I WAS ABLE TO CHANGE LANES JUST IN TIME TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I PULL OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND SURE ENOUGH BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM THE RUSTY GM BRAKE HARD LINES. LEAKING AT THE MOST COMMON PLACE BY THE ABS PUMP WHICH IS ON THE DRIVER SIDE BEHIND THE FRONT WHEEL. I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME WITH USING ONLY THE FRONT BRAKES AND WILL BE REPLACING THE HARD LINES WITH STAINLESS LINES. CALLED THE LOCAL DEALER AND WAS QUOTED $1,500-$2,000....EVERYONE SHOULD SEND THE RUSTY LINES TO GM SO THEY CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.
DRIVERS BUCKET SEAT: AS I WAS PUTTING ON THE SEATBELT, THE DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BACK BROKE. I REMOVED THE SEATBACK FRAME IN ORDER TO REPAIR IT AND FOUND THE BRACKET THAT IS BOLTED TO THE LOWER SEAT FRAME WAS TORN ALMOST COMPLETELY APART ON THE LOWER LEFT SIDE AND THE WELD THAT HOLDS THE TUBE INTO THE UPPER RIGHT SIDE WAS BROKEN. I DECIDED TO REPLACE IT RATHER THAN REPAIR IT AS I FELT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EQUIPPED WITH COOPER DISCOVERY A/T TIRES, SIZE: 265R75R16 (NA). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 80 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL SOUND COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT INDEPENDENTLY AND ROLLED OVER MULTIPLE TIMES. THE CONTACT WAS EJECTED FROM THE VEHICLE AND SUSTAINED A BROKEN ARM, NECK, BACK, AND SHOULDER, SIX BROKEN RIBS, A PUNCTURED LUNG, AND NERVE DAMAGE TO THE LEFT LEG. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED A BROKEN ARM THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW YARD. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE TIRE AND CAUSED THE CRASH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE DOT NUMBER AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN AND THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 159,000.
A CAR PULLED IN FRONT OF ME AS I WAS ACCELERATING SO I HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES WHICH WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND WAS UNABLE TO STOP. I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT AND PULL INTO A PARKING LOT. AFTER PARKED I OPENED DOOR AND PUMPED BRAKES AND THE BRAKE LINE WAS BROKE ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. THERE WAS NO WAY TO STOP AS THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR AND THE BRAKE FLUID PUMPED OUT THE BROKEN BRAKE LINE. THERE IS NO WARNING FOR THIS FAILURE AND NO LEAKS OR DASH LIGHTS PRIOR TO THIS LINE BREAKING ON THE WAY TO WORK. I HAVE BEEN READING OF MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME ISSUE OF THE BRAKE LINES RUSTING ON THESE VEHICLES. THIS IS A REAL ISSUE AND PEOPLE WILL GET IN ACCIDENTS. I AM VERY LUCKY I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE AND AVOID AN ACCIDENT. NOT EVERYONE WILL BE THIS FORTUNATE. I HOPE THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE. *TR

DROVE INTO GARAGE TO INSPECT CAUSE FOUND FLUID LEAKING FROM ONE OF SEVERAL BRAKE LINES RUNNING ABOVE FRONT LEFT CAB MOUNTING BRACKET ,FLUID DRIPPING FROM ONE OF TWO SELF TAPPING SCREWS INSTALLED FROM TOP INTO BRACKET ,I BELIEVE BRAKE LINE RUPTURED FROM CHAFFING. *TR

THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE PRECEDING VEHICLE, WHICH RESULTED IN A FOUR-VEHICLE COLLISION. THE DRIVER AND FRONT SEAT PASSENGER BOTH SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, AND BACK INJURIES. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER ENCOUNTERED THE FRONT WINDSHIELD AND SUFFERED FROM MINOR INJURIES TO THE FACE. THE DRIVER AND THE FRONT SEAT PASSENGER REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 199,000.
