WHILE IN REVERSE THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED BACKWARDS AND THE STEERING LOCKED UP. THE CONSUMER MANAGED TO DECELERATE THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP WAS NOTIFIED BUT DID NOT RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. *AK *NM
I OWN A CHEVROLET 2500HD EQUIPPED WITH A 8.1 LITER ENGINE AND ALLISON TRANSMISSION. MY PROBLEM BEGAN WITH THE ENGINE REFUSING TO START AFTER BEING DRIVEN A SHORT WHILE. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT OCCUR EVERY TIME BUT WAS FREQUENT ENOUGH TO BE OF CONCERN. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS LASTING SOME 2 TO THREE MINUTES THE ENGINE WOULD START. THE PROBLEM ESCALATED TO THE ENGINE STALLING WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, SOMETIMES ON THE INTERSTATE AT SPEEDS UP TO 70 MPH. DURING THESE STALLS THE ENGINE WOULD SOMETIME RESTART ON ITS OWN WITHOUT TURNING THE KEY OR SHIFTING OUT OF GEAR. DURING TIMES OF STALLING THE ONLY WAY TO MAINTAIN SOME CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS TO SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL AND TURN THE KEY TO ATTEMPT A RESTART. AT THESE TIMES THE ENGINE TURNING OVER PROVIDES ENOUGH COMPRESSION TO ALLOW THE POWER STEERING AND BRAKES TO BE AFFECTIVE AS LONG AS THE STARTER IS ENGAGED. *JB
ABS MODULE CONTINUES TO RUN AFTER IGNITION TURNED OFF. HAD TO PULL ABS 60 AMP FUSE TO STOP MODULE FROM RUNNING. *NM
WHILE DRIVING AND PULLING INTO A PARKING SPACE OR STOPPING BRAKES DISENGAGED. ONE OCCURRENCE RESULTED IN A REAR COLLISION. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THEY INFORMED CONSUMER THAT BRAKE SENSOR FAILED. *AK *LA
WHILE DRIVING TAILGATE OPENED WITHOUT WARNING. DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE PROBLEM. *AK CONSUMER SUFFERED A BRUISE AND SWELLING IN HIS RIGHT HAND WHICH OCCURRED BEFORE THE LATCHES FAILED COMPLETELY. *LA
FAULTY ABS MODULE; ABS PUMP KEPT RUNNING AFTER ENGINE IGNITION TURNED OFF. PART 88982296.*AK
I WAS STANDING ON THE TAILGATE AND UNLOADING A BOX FROM THE BED OF MY TRUCK WHEN BOTH CABLES HOLDING THE TAILGATE SNAPPED. *LA
TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLES RUSTED THROUGH COMPLETELY. A RECALL WAS ISSUED, HOWEVER THIS VEHICLE WA SNOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO VIN. *AK
WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, WINDSHIELD POPS AND CRACKLES. SOUNDS AS IF THE WINDSHIELD IS NOT SEALED CORRECTLY. *LA
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVY 2500HD 4WD CREWCAB PICKUP W/6.0 LITER ENGINE, WITH 54000 MILES ON IT. I CONTINUE TO HAVE A PROBLEM WITH A STICKY ACCELERATOR PEDAL. SEVERAL TIMES DAILY WHEN LEAVING FROM A STOP (PARKING OR STOP LIGHTS) I EXPERIENCE THE NEED TO APPLY EXTRA EFFORT ON ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEFORE IT RELEASES. THIS CAUSES THE TRUCK TO SURGE FORWARD OR BACKWARDS WHEN BACKING UP. G M DOES HAVE A SERVICE BULLETIN FOR THIS #02-06-04-054A. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND POSSIBLY A RECALL SHOULD BE ISSUED. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH THE SAME TRUCK WHO ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM AND HAD IT REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. I WOULD APPRECIATE HEARING FROM YOU AT YOUR EARLIEST CONVENIENCE. *JB
THE TAILGATE SUPPORT BROKE ON OUR 2001 Z71 CHEVROLET SILVERADO,TWO DAYS LATER THE SECOND ONE BROKE . THIS VEHICLE IS DRIVEN AND USED BY MY WIFE, THERE IS NO EXCESSIVE LOADING OR PRESSURE ON THE TAIL GATE WHILE OPEN. BOTH CABLES ARE RUSTED THRU AND FRACTURED IN THE SAME MANNER. THE VEHICLE IS NEVER OPERATED WITH THE TAIL GATE OPEN.*AK

WHILE DRIVING, MY TAILGATE TOOK IT UPON ITSELF TO LEAP OFF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE NEARLY HITTING A VEHICLE DRIVING NEXT TO ME, AS IT SWUNG AROUND THE SIDE BY THE ONLY REMAINING CABLE AND CAUSING A SUDDEN BRAKING ACTION FROM THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY BEHIND ME WHICH ALMOST CAUSED IT GET REAR ENDED BY THE 4X4 BEHIND IT. *JB

WHILE DRIVING ACCELERATOR PEDAL IS HARD TO APPLY WHEN PASSING OR PULLING FROM A STOP, THE PEDAL WILL STICK. CONSUMER HAS TO USE HIS FOOT TO RELEASE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE GAS NEEDLE FLUCTUATES FROM EMPTY TO FULL CONTINUALLY.*AK CONSUMER VERY CONCERNED THAT THE FUEL GAUGE PROBLEM COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD. *BF
TAILGATE STRAPS BROKE. AS A RESULT, DRIVER WAS KNOCKED TO THE GROUND, AND SUSTAINED BACK AND LEG INJURIES. *AK
WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE TRUCK AND PULL OVER. CONSUMER NOTICED THAT TAILGATE CABLE SNAPPED IN HALF. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PICK UP THE CABLES AND PLACE THEM IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC INFORMED CONSUMER THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. *AK
TIRE BLOW OUT AND OTHER TIRE SEPARATED ON FIRESOTNE STEETEX R4S LT245R75RX16 THAT IS TWO ON SAME VEHICLE. *AK
THROTLE STICKS AND MUST BE STOMPED TO DIS-ENGAGE. OFTEN THIS RESULTS IN BEING THROWN FOWARD. THE DEALER SAYS HE HAS FIXED SEVERAL LIKE THIS ON THE 6.0 LITER ENGINE. VERY DANGEROUS!!!*AK
WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH A LOUD NOISE WAS HEARD COMING FROM THE REAR. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER, AND NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE TIRE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE WHEEL, BUT THE TIRE WAS STILL INFLATED. DRIVER CONTACTED ROAD SIDE ASSISTANCE TO CHANGE THE TIRE. FIRESTONE STEELTEX AT, LT245/75R16. *AK *JB
DT: CONTACT STATED THE ABS SENSOR WAS CORRODED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FRONT BRAKES WERE PITTED AND RUSTED ON THE INSIDE OF THE ROTORS. SERVICE DEALER INFORMED CONSUMER THAT ALL FOUR ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER SAID THE REASON FOR THIS WAS BECAUSE THE BRAKES WERE NOT USED ENOUGH.*AK THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THE SYSTEM IS POORLY DESIGNED. *NM
TWO TIMES IN ONE MONTH TRANSMISSION WENT BAD
TAILGATE CABLE BREAK WITH NO LOAD JUST LETTING IT DOWN EASY.SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVING THIS PROBLEM.*AK
WHILE DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE FREEWAY THE TAILGATE DROPPED OPEN AND PROCEEDED TO FALL OFF MY VEHICLE. WHEN I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP, THE WRITTEN ESTIMATE I RECEIVED QUOTED $1045.48 TO REPAIR ALL THE DAMAGE. I AM THANK FULL TO GOD THAT IT WAS EARLY IN THE MORNING AND THERE WAS NOON BEHIND US AND I DIDN'T HAVE A LOAD ON THE TAILGATE! IT COULD OF BEEN A FATALITY.*AK
THE LEFT TAIL GATE CABLE ON MY 2001 CHEVROLET 2500 SILVERADO SHORT BED SNAPPED DROPPING THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TAIL GATE ONTO THE BUMPER. THE TAIL GATE WAS DOWN AT THE TIME WITH DRY WALL ENTENDING ONTO THE TAIL GATE. THE BREAK APPEARED TO BE WHERE THE CABLE BENDS WHEN THE TAIL GATE IS CLOSED.*AK
WHILE DRIVING TAILGATE FELL OFF. CONSUMER CONTACTED DEALERSHIP, AND TECHNICIAN DETERMINED STRAP ATTACHMENTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I HAVE HAD TWO FIRESTONE STEELTEX A/T TIRES SIZE 245/75R16 LOAD RANGE E THAT THE TREAD HAS CAME OFF OF THE CARCASS BUT THE TIRES HAVE NOT LOST AIR... PROPERTY DAMAGE WAS DONE TO VEHICLE. SENT CLAIM OFF TO BFNT LLC. CLAIM WAS DENIED. SAID DUE TO UNDER INFLATION. I HAVE FOUND TWO OTHER LOCAL INDIVIDUALS WITH SAME TIRES MANUFACTURER COD VN(CANADA) THREE WEEKS APART WITH SAME PROBLEMS. *JB
WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH CONSUMER PRESSED THE GAS PEDAL, BUT VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. CONSUMER COULD HEAR A WHISTLING SOUND COMING FROM THE ENGINE. DEALER EXAMINED THE VEHICLE, AND INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS NEEDED. ON ANOTHER OCCASION VEHICLE WOULD NOT GO INTO 2ND GEAR OR REVERSE. ANOTHER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. ON YET ANOTHER OCCASION THE SOLENOID AND WIRING HARNESS WERE REPLACED, AND THE COMPUTER WAS REPROGRAMMED. FINALLY, ANOTHER TRANSMISSION WAS REPLACED. *AK
THE PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO RELEASE THE REAR WHEEL WHEN THE HANDLE IS LIFTED. IT HAS FAILED IN THE WINTERS OF 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004. THE LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD GOES OUT. ONE REAR WHEEL IS RELEASED. THE OTHER IS NOT. THE SYSTEM FAILS REPEATEDLY, MAKING THE DRIVER HESITANT TO USE THE PARKING BRAKE, FOR FEAR OF NOT BEING ABLE TO RESUME MOVEMENT.
BOTH TAILGATE CABLE OF 2001 CHEVY SILVERADO SNAPPED WHILE OFF-LOADING RUBBISH INTO COUNTY RUBBISH DUMP TRAILER. INCIDENT GAVE ME A GOOD SCARE AND COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY BAD IF I DID NOT REGAIN MY BALANCE AND FELL 10' INTO THE TRAILER FULL OF DANGEROUS OBJECTS. NO SUBSTANTIAL DAMAGE TO THE TAILGATE AS IT MADE CONTACT WITH THE BUMPER. UPON CLOSER LOOK AT THE CABLES, IT APPEARS THAT ONLY A FEW STRANDS (AND THE VINYL SHEATHING) WERE KEEPING THE CABLE TOGETHER. THE REST OF THE STRANDS SHOWED SEVERE CORROSION. TOOK THE CABLE TO LOCAL DEALER BUT THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT BUT DID SAY THAT IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. THE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED 3 YEARS AND 3 MONTHS AGO. I HAD TO PAY $45 FOR THE PAIR. I BELIEVE THE CABLES SHOULD BE GOOD FOR THE LIFE OF THE TRUCK UNDER NORMAL USE. *JB
I OWN A 2001 CHEVROLET 2500 HD CREW CAB 4X4 WITH A 6.0 LITRE. ON FEBRUARY 14, 2004, I NOTICED THAT THE GAS PEDAL WAS STICKING WHEN I FIRST STARTED THE TRUCK. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO THIS EVERYTIME I START THE TRUCK. BACK IN NOVEMBER OF 2003, I WAS HAVING MY OIL CHANGED WHEN THE MANAGER ASKED IF I WAS HAVING ANY TROUBLE WITH THE GAS PEDAL STICKING. I STATED THAT I HAD NOT HAD ANY TROUBLE WITH THE GAS PEDAL. AT THAT POINT, HE STATED THAT ALMOST EVERY NEWER MODEL CHEVROLET TRUCK HE HAD SEEN HAS HAD THAT VERY PROBLEM WHEN THE MILEAGE WAS AROUND 75,000 MILES. I NOW HAVE AROUND 75,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK NOW. IT HAS BECOME A SAFETY ISSUE. WHEN I PICK UP MY CHILD FROM SCHOOL, THE GAS PEDAL STICKS WHEN I AM STARTING THE TRUCK UP, AND I HAVE TO PRESS QUITE HARD ON THE PEDAL. IN AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE CHILDREN ARE WALKING ALL AROUND, I CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE TO PUNCH ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GET MY TRUCK TO MOVE. I WOULD APPRECIATE AN INVESTIGATION INTO THIS PROBLEM.*JB
MULITPLE FAILURES OF THE ANTI LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM THAT TAKES CONTROLL OF THE BRAKING AWAY. IT HAS CAUSED NUMEROUS CLOSE CALLS INCLUDING CRASHING THROUGH THE GARAGE DOOR OF MY HOUSE.
MY 2001 SILVERADO 1500 THE GAS PEDAL STICKS. I HAVE TO REALLY PUSH DOWN HARD TO GET IT TO MOVE. THIS IS ALSO HAPPENING ON MY HUSBANDS NEW 2004 SILVERAVO 1500. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS. IT IS GETTING SO BAD THAT I AM ALMOST AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.*AK
THE PARKING BRAKE ON MY 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO FAILED AND IT WAS BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION DURING AN INSPECTION IN FEBRUARY 2004. THE TRUCK FAILED INSPECTION DUE TO THE PARKING BRAKE BEING INEFFECTIVE. THE INSPECTOR WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE SLIGHTLY AND EASILY MOVE THE VEHICLE WHILE THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ACTIVATED. I LIVE IN TEXAS WHERE THE PARKING BRAKE IS NOT NECESSARY ON A REGULAR BASIS. THEREFORE, I FEEL THERE IS NO REASON FOR FAILURE OTHER THAN MANUFACTURER DEFECT. I HAD THE FIRST OF TWO REPAIRS DONE AT LAWRENCE MARSHALL CHEVROLET IN HEMPSTEAD, TX. THE OTHER REPAIR WAS DONE BY A PRIVATE MECHANIC. I SOLD THE VEHICLE IN MAY 2005. *NM
I HAVE A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 4X4 PICK-UP, WHICH TO MY DISMAY NEEDED REAR BRAKE REPLACEMENT WITH LESS THAN 50,000 MILES (90% HIGHWAY MILES). I WAS TOLD BY THE SERVICE MANAGER OF THE LOCAL GM DEALER (HUTCHINS CHEVROLET, SOLDOTNA, AK.) THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES DUE TO A DESIGN FLAW. HAD I NOT BEEN CONCERNED OVER A DEVELOPING SQUEEZING NOISE AND TAKEN MY TRUCK IN FOR INSPECTION, THE POTENTIAL FOR BRAKE FAILURE WOULD HAVE BEEN IMMANENT. INSTEAD OF ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM AS A VIABLE SAFETY CONCERN, THEY DECIDED THAT A SIMPLE FRONT MOUNT MUD- GUARD "MAY HELP" PRO-LONG WEAR. THIS IS SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE...THIS IS (WAS) A 34,000 DOLLAR TRUCK WITH A SERIOUS DESIGN FLAW THAT THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR NOT THE CONSUMER...BRAKE REPLACEMENT COST ME $ 566.00 THAT I SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN FORCED TO TAKE OUT OF POCKET DUE TO THEIR FLAW. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKES PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. THIS VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. HOWEVER, DEALER REPLACED THE SPEED SENSOR, BUT PROBLEM RECURRED.*AK
WHEN STOPPING AND THE VEHICLE'S SPEED REACHES 5 MPH, THE ABS ENGAGES. WHEN THIS OCCURS CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE IS DIFFICULT,WHEN GOING STRAIGHT AND THE VEHICLE IS UNCONTROLLABLE WHEN TURNING. THE DEALERSHIP FEELS THAT THE ABS SENSOR WHICH CONTROLS THE ABS AT 5 MPH MAY BE CORRODED AND NEEDS TO BE CLEANED.*MR THE ABS SENSOR HAS BEEN CLEANED AND THE PROBLEM CEASED. THE CONSUME WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS A COLD CLIMATE PROBLEM. THERE ARE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED BUT THERE ARE NO RECALLS AT THIS TIME. *NM
THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKED IN CAUSING RAPID ACCELERATION ON ICY ROAD. THE USE OF BRAKES TO TURN OFF CRUISE CONTROL CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GO INTO A SKID INTO LEFT LANE AND TOWARDS HIGHWAY MEDIAN STRIP. I TRIED TO STEER OUT OF THE SKID WHILE TAPPING BRAKES. VEHICLE WENT INTO A SPIN AND THEN CROSSED RIGHT LANE AND INTO SNOW FILLED DITCH HEADING TOWARDS TREES. I STEERED AWAY FROM TREES, CAUSING VEHICLE TO SLIDE SIDEWAYS INTO TREES AND THEN INTO A CHAIN LINK FENCE. AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP WHERE THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT WAS HAPPENING AT THE TIME THEY WERE EVALUATING IT. ONE WEEK LATER THE CRUISE KICKED IN BY ITSELF WHEN I WAS DRIVING AT 45 MPH. NO RAPID ACCELERATION THIS TIME. *JB
2001 CHEVY 2500 HD TRUCKS ( FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLIES) LOOSING UP UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS. THESE ARE SEALED HUB UNITS SO YOU MUST PURCHASE BRAND NEW ONES AT A COST OF OVER $500-700 PER UNIT. I HAVE HAD BOTH SIDES LOSING UP ON ME AND NOW THE REPLACEMENT IS NOW LOOSE AGAIN AFTER 30,000 MILES. TO TEST THIS YOU MUST JACK THE WHEEL OFF THE GROUND AND PUSH/PULL ON THE WHEEL IT WILL ROCK BACK AND FORTH AS IF ITS READY TO COME OFF THE WHEEL ASSEMBLY. I WAS A MECHANIC FOR 9 YEARS SO IM NOT YOUR AVERAGE DRIVER WHO WOULD NOT NOTICE ITEMS SUCH AS THIS. I TAKE BETTER CARE THAN MOST FOR MY TRUCKS AND SEE THIS AS A MAJOR SAFETY FACTOR FOR ALL OTHER CHEVY TRUCKS ON THE ROAD. NOTE: THIS WAS AN EXPERIMENTAL HUB THEY USED FOR ONLY A COUPLE OF YEARS. NOW THEY WENT BACK TO THE ACTUAL BEARING NUT THAT YOU CAN TIGHTEN IF LOOSE....SEEM STRANGE HUH? MAYBE THEY KNOW SOMETHING AND TRIED TO KEEP IT UNDER THE TABLE??? *NM
WHILE BRAKING FROM 55 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME HARD AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. THE ABS BRAKE LIGHT ALSO ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER TO THE SHOULDER AND STOP THE VEHICLE BY PULLING UP THE EMERGENCY BRAKES. THE DRIVER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. DT*: THE CONTACT STATES THERE IS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000 REGARDING THE ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THE VEHICLE HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS INDICATED IN THE RECALL; HOWEVER, IT IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DUE TO THE VIN. *AK
I AM FILING A COMPLAINT ABOUT CHEVROLETS FAULTY ABS SYSTEM. I HAVE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL TIMES WHERE WHEN HITTING THE BRAKES, THEY WILL LOCK UP AND I LOOSE ALL BREAK-POWER. THIS IS AN ISSUE THAT HIGHLY CONCERNS ME DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE HAS BEEN SEVERAL INCIDENCES THAT HAVE CAUSED DRIVERS TO BE THE CAUSE OF AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE DONE A LOT OF RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE AND APPERENTLY I AM NOT THE ONLY CHEVY OWNER WITH THAT PROBLEM. GM NEEDS TO RECALL THEIR ABS SYSTEM BEFORE SOMEONE SERIOUSLY GETS INJURED
DT: CONSUMER HAS A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. CONSUMER HAS CONCERN OVER THE ABS BRAKES. WHEN VEHICLE IS COMING TO A STOP THE ABS WILL CAUSE THE BRAKE TO PULSATE. IN ORDER TO STOP CONSUMER MUST LET OFF BRAKES AND APPLY AGAIN BRAKES. THIS DEACTIVATED ABS, AND ALLOWED VEHICLE TO STOP. CONSUMER HAD VEHICLE REPAIRED ONCE, COST WAS ABOUT $600. THIS REPAIR WAS ON THE LEFT FRONT OF VEHICLE AND TOOK PLACE IN MARCH OF 2004. CONSUMER WAS GOING TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER. . CONSUMER FIRST STARTED HAVING THIS PROBLEM IN FEBRUARY OF 2004. THE ABS LIGHT DID NOT COME ON . WHEN VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY CONSUMER HAD WARRANTY WORK DONE ON BRAKES, REPLACED PADS AND ROTORS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS UNEVEN WEAR ON THE ROTOR. CONSUMER HEARD OF INVESTIGATION OR RECALL, AFTER LOOKING FOUND INVESTIGATION THAT SOUNDS SIMILAR, PE05020 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER. EACH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED IT HAS BEEN DURING DRY CONDITIONS. DEALER IN FLORIDA TOLD HIM THAT THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN THE NORTH WITH THIS HAPPENING DUE TO CORROSION. DEALER WAS A1AUTOMOTIVE AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALER. *AK
I FAILED MY STATE INSPECTION DUE TO THE PARKING BRAKE NOT HOLDING. 3 DIFFERENT SHOPS HAVE TOLD ME THIS IS A FAULTY DESIGN AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED EVERY TWO YEARS REGARDLESS OF USE. THIS IS NOT WEAR & TEAR, AS I DO NOT USE MY PARKING BRAKE. THIS IS A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR FOR SOMETHING I DON'T USE AND SHOULD NOT WEAR OUT. *JB
RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THROTTLE STICKING IN THE CLOSED POSITION. THE THROTTLE ACCELERATOR PERIODICALLY STICKS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED WITH ENOUGH PRESSURE, THE THROTTLE SUDDENLY FREES UP AND THE VEHICLE LURCHES FORWARD SUDDENLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. DEALER ADVISES THAT THEY HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE DESIGN OF THE THROTTLE BODY, SUCH THAT THE THROTTLE PLATE HANGS UP DUE TO A PROTUSION. THROTTLE BODY MUST BE REPLACED AT OWNERS EXPENSE. *JB
2001 CHEVROLET 2500HD TRUCK: IN MAY OF 2002 THE TRANSMISSION STARTED LEAKING AT THE FRONT SEAL BECAUSE OF THE CONVERTER BOLTS BEING LOOSE. ON 1/28/04 THE REAR CASE BUSTED AND LEAKED OUT ALL THE FLUID AS WELL. GM DEALER SAYS DEFECTIVE CASE. ALLISON TRANSMISSION SAYS THAT GM HAS A VIBRATION IN THE DRIVETRAIN OF THESE TRUCKS THAT CAUSES THEIR TRANSMISSION TO BREAK. WHO DO YOU BELIEVE? ANY SUGGESTIONS? *JB
ANTI LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM. YOU HAVE TO PUSH ON THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET IN ORDER TO GET THE TRUCK TO STOP. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WHOM ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *JB
HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT ANIT-LOCK BRAKE ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS WHEN APPLYING BRAKE. THIS INCREASES BRAKING DISTANCE UNEXPECTEDLY, AND I HAVE FOUND MYSELF IN THE OTHER LANE TRYING NOT TO GET HIT. COMPLAINED OF THIS PROBLEM TO MY LOCAL DEALER AND TO CHEVY CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE. THEY BOTH SAID THAT THERE ARE NO RECALLS OR SERVICE BULLETINS ON THAT PARTICULAR PROBLEM. I TOLD CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE THAT THERE IS A BULLETIN FOR THIS ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE. THEY COULD NOT FIND SUCH A BULLETIN. THE BULLETIN IS FOR A 2001 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. IT IS TITLED: SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK. THE SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER IS 030525007, NHTSA ITEM NUMBER IS 10004310. I ALSO CALLED CALLED 1-800-DASH-2-DOT TO TRY AND FIGURE OUT WHY I'M BEING TOLD BY CHEVY THAT THERE IS NO SUCH BULLETIN, BUT NHTSA PUBLISHES A BULLETIN ON THE WEBSITE PERTAINING TO ABS ACTIVATION AT LOW SPEEDS. THE PERSON I TALKED TO COULD NOT ANSWER MY PROBLEM, BUT GAVE ME THE NUMBER TO TECHNICAL INFORMATION SERVICES, PH# 202-366-2588. I LEFT A MESSAGE, SINCE ALL I COULD GET WAS AN ANSWERING MACHINE AND A RECORDED MESSAGE TELLING ME TO CONTACT THE NUMBER I JUST CALLED. NOBODY HAS CONTACTED ME. IT HAS PROBABLY BEEN A COUPLE OF WEEKS SINCE LEAVING THE MESSAGE. I WANT TO KNOW IF THERE IS A VALID SERVICE BULLETIN PERTAINING TO MY PROBLEM, SINCE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I DO NOT WANT THIS TO CAUSE A WRECK. I FEEL THAT I AM GETTING THE RUNAROUND BY EVERYONE. PLEASE HELP.

ON 3 SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHEN CONSUMER PUT THE KEYS INTO IGNITION AND TURNED THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS ILLUMINATED, BUT THE ENGINE FAILED TO ENGAGE. DEALERSHIP INDICATED THAT THIS WAS DUE TO THE SECURITY SYSTEM NOT RECOGNIZING THE KEY.*AK
