SOME TIMES WHEN PUSHING DOWN ON THE FOOT BRAKE, IT BECOMING STIFF AND WON'T DEPRESS. AT THIS TIME THE USE OF THE HAND BRAKE HAS TO BE USED TO STOP. IF HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS, BUT NO ACCIDENT SO FAR.
VEHICLE HAD GRINDING NOISE FROM REAR WHEELS AND LOSS OF POWER. REAR BRAKES FAILED WITH 9, 975 MILES ON VEHICLE. DEALER FOUND RIGHT REAR BRAKE CALIPER RUSTED SOLID AND NOT OPERATING, CAUSING INNER RIGHT DISK BRAKE PAD TO WEAR OUT PREMATURELY. WAS ADVISED THAT THIS WAS A RESULT OF THE VEHICLE NOT BEING USED ENOUGH, ALLOWING COMPONENTS INSIDE THE CALIPER TO RUST. DEALER REBUILT RIGHT REAR CALIPERS, TURNED DOWN BOTH EXCESSIVELY RUSTED REAR ROTORS AND REPLACED REAR DISC BRAKE PADS.
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT ABS BRAKE SENSOR PROBLEM. . WHEN THE SENSORS WERE INOPERATIVE BRAKES WOULD NOT WORK. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER, WHO WAS UNWILLING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. *AK
1/2) LOW SPEED MANUEVERING IN PARKING LOT OR PULLING UP TO A STOP SIGN OR RED LIGHT SITUATIUONS ON VARIOUS ROAD CONDITIONS; FIRST BECAME AN ISSUE AFTER SNOW/FREEZING WEATHER CONDITIONS WITH NO EARLIER WARNING SIGNS, BUT CONTINUED TO OCCUR OCCASIONALLY EVEN ON DRY PAVEMENT; BRAKE FAILURE / INADVERTANT ABS ACTIVATION UPON EXTEMELY LOW SPEED CAUSING VEHICLE TO COAST FURTHER AND OVERALL INCREASED STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN THIS FAILURE WOULD OCCUR 3) DEALER REPLACED LEFT FRONT HUB AND WHEEL SPEED SENSOR ASSEMBLY AS THEY HAD FOUND THE SENSOR WAS PROVIDING ERRATIC READINGS (IN WARRANTY SERVICE--NO CHARGE). *AK
WHEN TAKEN FOR INSPECTION, THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS. THE ROTORS WERE SLIGHTLY PULLING AWAY FROM THE WHEEL. CONSUMER NEVER HAD ANY SIGNS OF A SAFETY DEFECT PRIOR TO THIS. THE CAUSE WAS UNDETERMINED.*AK THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE PLACED THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED OFF THE ENGINE, THE AUTOMATIC DOORS LOCKS FAILED. WHEN THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED TO GAIN SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED, THE DEALER STATED THE INJECTOR WAS BAD. *JB
VEHICLE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH. VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, AND WAS DRIVEN TO CONSUMER'S HOME. DEALER HAD NOT BEEN CONTACTED. *AK
2002 CHEVY SILVERADO Z71 TRUCK - BOUGHT NEW FROM MCCLINTON CHEVROLET PARKERSBURG WV. THE TRUCK STARTED WITH A CLICKING NOISE WHEN PUT IN REVERSE. TOOK TO MACHANIC WHO STATED THAT ALL 4 ROTORS WERE PITTED AND RUSTED AND NEEDED REPLACED. THE TRUCK HAS 54,000 MILES. TOOK TO TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERSHIPS THE SECOND FINALLY DIAGNOSED THAT THE CALIPERS WERE STUCK AND NOT ALLOWING THE PADS TO MOVE WHEN NECESSARY. THEY STATED THAT THEY HAVE HAD NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND THAT THE ROTORS ARE MADE OF AN INFERIOR METAL. THE PROBLEM IS NOT DUE TO DRIVING HABITS OR ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUES THIS IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT THAT IF NOT CAUGHT EARLY BY THE OWNER CAUSES ABOUT $800.00 TO REPLACE THE ROTORS, CALIPERS, AND BRAKE PADS. THIS NEEDS TO BE LOOKED INTO AND CHEVROLET NEEDS TO COVER THIS TYPE OF COST. LOYAL CUSTOMERS DESERVE BETTER TREATMENT FROM MANUFACTURERS. THEY HAVE CHANGED THE BRAKE SYSTEM ON THE 2005. I GUESS THAT THIS TELLS US SOMETHING. THEY KNOW THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM BUT DON'T WANT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE.*AK
THE BRAKE PEDAL TENDS TO FALL TO THE FLOOR, CAUSING THE BRAKES TO WORK INTERMITTENTLY AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, RESULTING IN EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE WHILE ON THE ROAD. MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BY OWNER.*AK
WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. CONSUMER INSPECTED THE SPARE TIRE RACK, AND NOTICED CABLE SHEARED OFF. *AK SPARE TIRE RIVETS FALLING OFF OF THE TIRE WHILE TRAVELLING. THE SPARE TIRE WAS BRAND NEW NEVER USED BEFORE. *TC
WHEN APPLYING BRAKE IN A SUDDEN STOP SITUATION A GRINDING NOISE COULD BE HEARD, AND THE VEHICLE WOULD EXPERIENCE EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHO REPLACED BOTH REAR ROTORS, AND TURNED BOTH FRONT ROTORS.*AK..DEALER INDICATED THAT BRAKE LINE CUT 1/2 INCH SLITS INTO ROTORS, CAUSING BRAKES TO FAIL. *AK
CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS. TRANSMISSION JUMPED OUT OF GEAR. VEHICLE WILL HAVE A WINDING SOUND THEN VEHICLE WILL STOP. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER, WHO WANTED TO CHARGE CONSUMER $3,000.00 TO REPAIR THE DEFECT. *AK
THE ENGINE KEEP CRASHING DOWN, THE INDICATOR SAY LOW ENGINE PRESSURE, CHECK ENGINE PRESSURE, THEN THE HOLE TRUCK WILL SHUT DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF PRODUCING. THIS HAPPEN THREE TIME ALREADY. IM ON THE HIGHWAY DRIVING 80MIL AND THE TRUCK WILL SHUT DOWN, CANT MOVE THE WHEEL, CANT CHANGE LINES, CANT RESTART THE TRUCK OR ANYTHING. THIS HAS ALMOST COAST ME LIFE THREE TIME. WHAT KIND OF SAFETY SHUT DOWN IS THAT. I THINK IT IS VERY UNSAFE AND NEEDS TO CHANGE OR FIX. I SPENT OVER 2,500.00 ON MY TRUCK THINKING THE PROBLEM IS FIX, BUT IT KEEP RECURRING. THE CHEVY ENGINEERS GUYS JUST SAY THAT THE PROB CANT BE FIX AND MY BEST BET IS TO GET A NEW TRUCK, OR ENGINE. I DON'T HAVE MONEY FOR THAT. *TR
DT: THE CONTACT COMPLAINED ABOUT ABS BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP NUMEROUS TIMES TO HAVE THE ABS BRAKES WORKED ON. THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. THEY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP THE FIRST TIME TO HAVE THE LIGHT CHECKED. THE PROBLEM WITH THE LIGHT WAS REPAIRED. THE SECOND TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THE ROTORS CHANGED. THE THIRD TIME THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP THE BRAKE PADS WERE CHANGED. ALSO, THE ROTORS WERE TURNED. THE FOURTH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN TO THE DEALERSHIP IT WAS STILL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE WERE MADE AT CONTACT'S EXPENSE. AT THIS TIME THERE WAS NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN 05V379000. RECALL REPAIRS WERE DONE. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS THE SAME PROBLEMS AS BEFORE. *AK UPDATED 03/03/06. *JB
CONSUMER STATES: THE VEHICLE DOESN'T STOP PROPERLY. CHECKED ROTORS AND FOUND HAS BUILD-UP FROM CORROSION. THE BRAKE PADS ARE NOT CONTACTING THE ROTORS ON THE REAR BRAKES. GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. *TT
DT:THE COSUMER OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE PROBLEM IS THE ABS. WHEN GETTING DOWN TO 2-3 MPH THE ABS COMES ON, AND WILL ALMOST CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THERE IS AN OPEN NHTSA INVESTIGATION, PE05020. PARTS IN THE ABS HAVE REPLACED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE MAKING TURNS LEFT OR RIGHT CONSUMER COULD HEAR A CLUNKING NOISE. WHICH SOUNDED LIKE THE UNIVERSAL JOINT. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION. *NM DEALER REPLACED THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. GM HAS A BULLETIN ON HOW TO FIX THIS BUT NO RECALL. *BF *NM
HAD 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO PARKED ON AND INCLINE IN THE DRIVEWAY, PUT TRANSMISSION INTO PARK AND APPLIED PARKING BRAKE, TURNED VEHICLE MOTOR OFF AND VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD, TOOK IN TO HAVE 30,000 MILE SERVICE DONE AND TOLD DEALER OF INCIDENT, DEALER BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT MY PARKING BRAKE WAS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY THAT I WOULD HAVE TO GET IT REPLACED AT MY COST, THIS SHOULD BE FIXED UNDER WARRANTY BY CHEVROLET. *JB
GOODYEAR WRANGLER RTS TIRES DEVELOPING SIDEWALL BULGES AND BUMPS.*MR OUT OF CONCERN FOR SAFETY, THE CONSUMER HAD THE TIRES PULLED AT ABOUT 8,000 MILES, AND THE WINTER TIRES INSTALLED. ALL SOUNDS, VIBRATIONS, AND NOISES WENT AWAY AFTER THE TIRE CHANGE (DOT NUMBER OF THE FOUR FAULTY TIRES 306R DOT MD70-D5WR 4903, 308L DOT MD70-D5WR 5003, 403L DOT MD70-D5WR 5003, 233L DOT MD70-D5WR 4803). *BF *NM
THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WOULD COME ON AND GO OFF WHILE DRIVING IN INCLEMENT WEATHER. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE MECHANIC TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS INSPECTED AND WAS TOLD THEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *JB
CHEVY TRUCK BEGAN A VIBRATION AND CHATTERING IN BRAKE PEDAL AT LOW SPEED . *BF THE ABS BRAKING SYSTEM WHEEL HAD LOCKED UP. *SC
2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM. *MR THE VEHICLE STARTED TO VIBRATE AND CHATTER IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM WHICH WAS FELT THROUGHOUT THE PEDAL. WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED, THE CONSUMER RAN INTO A FENCE. THE PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAILURE OF THE ABS SYSTEM LIKELY DUE TO CORROSION. *SC *JB
DT: THE CONTACT IS HAVING PROBLEM WITH HER ABS BRAKES SHE SAYS THAT WHEN YOU GO TO STOP AND USE THE BRAKES YOU CAN'T USE THEM BECAUSE THEY EASE UP AND FREEZE. WHEN SHE PUSHED ON THE PEDAL IT LOCKED UP AND MADE A NOISE AND THEY WILL NOT WORK. THE ONLY THING PRIOR TO THE FAILURE IS THE NOISE THAT SHE HEARS. THE VEHICLE IS A FOUR WHEEL DRIVE. THERE HAS BEEN A REPEATED CLANKING NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF THE TRUCK WHEN MAKING SHARP TURNS AT SLOW SPEEDS. DEALER R&R SHAFT AND LUBED SPLINES PER BULLETIN 00-02-35-003A. NOISE CAME BACK AFTER A YEAR SO DEALER SAID IT WAS A BAD STEERING SHAFT AND LOOSE AT SPLINES. THEY REPLACED THE STEERING SHAFT A WEEK AGO AND THE NOISE HAS GONE AWAY AT THIS POINT. *JB
1. NORMAL USE OF THE VEHICLE. 2.TRANSMISSION FAILED, LEAVING ME STRANDED. 3. TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT AT MY COST. THERE ARE MANY PARTS JUST LIKE MINE AT THE AAMCO TRANSMISSION SHOP IN LAKE CHARLES, LA. *AK
I DROVE MY TRUCK UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS; PRIMARILY COMMUTING TO AND FROM WORK (HIGHWAY MILES). AT ~ 66,000 MILES, FRONT LEFT HUB ASSEMBLY STARTED MAKING INTERMITTENT NOISE AND NOTICEABLE VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL. THE HUB/TIRE/WHEEL ASSEMBLY HAD NOTICEABLE AMOUNT OF PLAY WHEN I INSPECTED IT DURING A RECENT TIRE CHANGEOUT. ULTIMATELY, THE HUB ASSEMBLY INTERNALS FAILED AND THE LUBRICATION ESCAPED FROM THE SEAL. IT IS MY OPINION THAT IF LEFT UNCHECKED, THE HUB COULD LOSE ALL LUBRICATION AND EITHER FREEZE UP, FALL APART OR CATCH FIRE. IT IS NOT NORMAL FOR A HUB TO FAIL AFTER ONLY 68,000 MILES. DEALER CONFIRMS THIS BY TELLING ME THAT THEY'VE NOT SEEN MANY IF ANY 3/4 TON TRUCKS COME THROUGH WITH THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. I SUSPECT THAT THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE FROM THE MANUFACTURER, BUT CANNOT PROVE THIS. I WOULD BE HAPPY TO LET THE NHTSA TAKE IT APART AND INSPECT IT AND HEAR OF THEIR CONCLUSION. I AM ALREADY OUT THE $400+ DOLLARS TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. CHEVROLET CUSTOMER "DIS-SERVICE" WOULD NOT ADMIT TO ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHEN I OFFERED TO MEET THEM "HALF-WAY" AND PAY FOR THE LABOR IF THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE PART. I JUST HEARD OF GM'S RECALL ON ABS BRAKING SYSTEMS. I HAVE A 02 SILVERADO THAT HAS HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM TWO SEPARATE TIMES. WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED IT FELT LIKE NO PEDAL THEN IT WOULD PULSATE. WHICH YOU COULD FEEL THROUGH THE PEDAL. BOTH TIMES THE DEALERSHIP SAID THE SENSORS WERE TO BLAME. THE SECOND TIME IT HAPPENED THEY DID NOT WANT TO FIX WITHOUT PAY. SINCE IT HAD HAPPENED A COUPLE MONTHS EARLIER. *JB
04 V 129 000/TAILGATE SUPPORT CABLE: THE DEALER REPLACED THE SUPPORT CABLE THAT WAS NOT STAINLESS STEEL AS MENTIONED IN THE RECALL NOTICE. *JB
THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING TOWARD A STOP SIGN AND WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO APPLY THE BRAKES, THEY DID NOT RESPOND . PROVIDE FURTHER DETAILS. *JB
ON OCT 13, 2004 MY 2002 CHEVY TRUCK, 2500HD 4WD CREW CAB, WAS STRUCK HEAD ON BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND A FIRE WAS STARTED UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. THIS FIRE WAS EXTINGUISHED SEVERAL TIMES BY SMALL EXTINGUISHERS BUT KEPT COMING BACK UNTIL THERE WAS NO EXTINGUISHER LEFT. THE RESULT WAS THE TOTAL DISTRUCTION OF THIS VEHICLE. MY FAMILY AND I AND A FRIEND (4) WERE IN THIS VEHICLE AND FORTUNATELY GOT OUT PRIOR TO THE TRUCK BEING TOTALLY ENGULFED BY FIRE. WE RECOGNIZE THAT IF ANYONE OF USE WERE PINNED IN THIS VEHICLE MORE THAN WE WERE, WE WOULD NOT BE HERE TODAY. THE TRUCK WAS TOTALLY BURNED UP IN 5-10 MINUTES BEFORE THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED. WE ARE CONCERNED THAT THERE IS NO SAFETY MECHANISM TO SHUT DOWN THE FUEL PUMP AFTER A HEAD-ON COLLISION LIKE THIS ONE. EVERYONE I TALKED TO TOLD ME NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE YOU WERE NOT SERIOUSLY BURNED. OUR INJURIES WERE MINER COMPARED TO WHAT THEY COULD HAVE BEEN IF I COULD NOT HAVE GOTTEN OUT. I WANT TO PROPOSE A SENSOR BE ADDED TO RECOGNIZE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT AND THEN SHUTDOWN POWER OR FUEL. THIS WILL SAVE LIVES FOR ANYONE LESS FORTUNATE THAN MY FAMILY. DOES A LIFE NEED TO BE GIVEN BEFORE CHANGE IS MADE? IF I CAN HELP MAKER THIS VEHICLE SAFER, I WILL HAVE FELT I HAVE BEEN HEARD. THE FAILURE WAS THAT THE FUEL PUMP KEPT RUNNING AFTER THE COLLISION AND SHOULD HAVE HAD A WAY TO SHUT IT DOWN AUTOMATICALLY. *NM
WHEN VEHICLE WAS ABOUT A YEAR OLD, TOLD THE DEALER THE PARK BRAKE GOES TO FLOOR AND HOLDS VERY LITTLE. DEALER SAID THIS IS NORMAL. AFTER A FEW MONTHS THE PARK BRAKE LOST ALL EFFECTIVENESS. LAST WEEK WHILE USING THE VEHICLE TO LAUNCH A BOAT, THE VEHICLE SLIPPED BACK AS ONE WHEEL LOST TRACTION AND THE ONLY THING HOLDING THE BOAT AND VEHICLE FROM MOVING WAS THE TRANSMISSION PARK. BECAUSE OF THIS INCIDENT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER. A DEFECTIVE "CLIP" HAD ALLOWED THE BRAKE FRICTION MATERIAL TO RUB THE BRAKE DRUM SURFACE AND WEAR TO THE POINT OF BEING TOTALLY INEFFECTIVE.MANY OF THESE VEHICLES HAVE THE DEFECT AND THE OPERATORS DO NOT KNOW THAT THEY NO LONGER HAVE A WORKING PARK BRAKE. GM HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN WITH INFORMATION ABOUT A FIX BEING AVAILABLE BUT THE OWNERS ARE NOT AWARE OF IT. THE DEALER CHARGED APPROXIMATELY $200.00 TO REPLACE THE COMPONENTS DUE TO THEIR VIEW THAT IT IS NORMAL WEAR. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT NEEDS TO BE REMEDIED.*AK
THE CONSUMER STATED WATER SEEPED INTO THE ENGINE DISTRIBUTOR WITHOUT WARNING. AS A RESULT THE ENGINE FAILED. *JB THE CONSUMER WROTE ABOUT TWO VEHICLES, THE SECOND VIN #[XXX] SAME MAKE AND MODEL. THE CONSUMER FELT THAT THE PROBLEM WAS WITH THE A/C CONDITIONER HOSE (METAL) WAS ROUTED OVER THE DISTRIBUTOR AND CONDENSATION WAS FORMING ON THE HOSE AND RUNNING ONTO THE DISTRIBUTOR CAUSING FAILURE. *SC INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6). *TR

2002 SIVERADO 2500HD 6 LITER ENGINE QUITS. FUEL PUMP FAILED WITH ONLY 27400 MILES ON THE VEHICLE.*AK
THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ON MY TRUCK HAS GONE OUT. I HAVE ONLY 36000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A CORRECTIVE FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. DEALERS WILL INSTALL A LOW-FORCE SPRING CLIP RETAINER FOR VEHICLES EQUIPPED WITH A PBR PARKING BRAKE SYSTEM. THE DEALER WOULD ONLY REPLACE THE RETAINER CLIP BUT STATES I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOES. I FEEL GM SHOULD PAY FOR THE BRAKE SHOES SINCE THE RETAINING CLIP 'CAUSED THE PROBLEM.
WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS GO OUT INADVERTENTLY. CONSUMER HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, AND THEY REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, BUT THE LIGHTS STILL GO OUT. *AK THE LIGHTS WENT OUT COMPLETLY BOTH HEADLIGHTS AND DASH. HEADLIGHTS ONLY WORKED WHEN THE CONSUMER HELD THE DIMMER SWITCH WHILE DRIVING. *TC

WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS VEHICLE STARTED TO PINION/SMOKED, AND LOST POWER. RPMS DROPPED FROM 60 TO 40 IN A MATTER OF SECONDS. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO THE CONSUMER A TOTAL OF THREE TIMES. THE LAST TIME THERE WAS ALMOST AN ACCIDENT.*AK
2002 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 Z71 5.3L TRANSMISSION SUN GEAR. AT 37260 MILES THE GEAR FAILED, MY VEHICLE IT DID NOT HAVE REVERSE, AND IT WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 2ND GEAR. I HAD TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION REBUILT AND THE TRANSMISSION SHOP SAID THAT IT WAS A COMMON PROBLEM. THE COST TO ME WAS $1963.00 AND IF IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM FROM THE MANUFACTURER THEN IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED BY GENERAL MOTORS AND NOT ME OR THE OTHER BUYERS OF THIS MODEL TRUCK. GM OUGHT TO REIMBURSE US FOR THE COST SINCE THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND COULD HAVE FIXED IT PRIOR TO THE PROBLEM BY RECALLS. *JB
VEHICLE JUST TURNED TWENTY FIVE THOUSAND MILES AND NEEDED BRAKES AND ROTORS. WHILE DRIVING THERE WAS PULSATION, AND DIFFICULT STOPPING. TOOK VEHILCE TO THE DEALER. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE CONSUMER $800.00 FOR REPAIRS. *AK *TC

A RECALL (04V357000) WAS ISSUED FOR THE CAM SHAFT POSITION SENSOR. THE CONSUMER WAS UNABLE TO FIND AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. PLEASE PROVIDE ADDITIONAL INFORMATION. *JB
CONSUMER WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 66 MPH THE TIRE BLEW OUT. THE FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY SNAPPED OFF RIGHT BEHIND THE BRAKE HUB ASSEMBLY. THEN, VEHICLE DROPPED DOWN ON ITS FRAME AND SKIDDED ALONG THE ROAD FOR ABOUT 150 TO 200 YARDS AND THEN SKIDDED INTO A GUARD RAIL. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER , AND WAS TOLD THAT THE MANUFACTURER WILL SEND SOMEONE TO INVESTIGATE THE SITUATION. CURRENTLY, GM DENIED THE CLAIM.*AK RIGHT FRONT WHEEL ASSEMBLY BROKE OFF AT THE UPPER BALL JOINT. *TC
THE VEHICLE HAD SEVERAL MECHANICAL PROBLEMS TO INCLUDE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE, TRANSMISSION AND 4-WHEEL DRIVE. *NM THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A HILL AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE FAILED CAUSING THE TRUCK TO ROLL OFF THE HILL. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED 15000.00 DOLLARS WORTH OF DAMAGE. CONSUMER CONTACTED THE DEALER AND CONTACTED CHEVROLET BUT TO NO AVAIL BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DAMAGES. THE MECHANICS AT CHEVROLET STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IS DEFECTIVE BUT NO MECHANICAL DEFECTS. THE CONSUMERS VEHICLE IS UNDRIVABLE. *TC
WHILE DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE CONSUMER APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE BRAKES FAILED. IN ADDITION THE BRAKE PEDAL VIBRATED UNCONTROLLABLY. THE CONSUMER WAS NOT ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND IT CRASHED INTO A GARAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND THE MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE ANTI LOCK BRAKE SENSORS WERE CORRODED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED OR CLEANED. *AK THE PROBLEM RECURRED. *SC
WHILE DRIVING UNDER 5 MPH ANTI LOCK BRAKES KICK IN AND BRAKES FAIL IN ALL WEATHER CONDITIONS, ONLY AT LOW SPEEDS. THIS CAUSES EXTENDED STOPPING DISTANCE. NO WARNING PRIOR TO FAILURE. OCCURS UNDER NORMAL BRAKING CONDITIONS. 4 WHEEL ANTI LOCK. BRAKE FAILURE IS PROGRESSIVE. VEHICLE IS REGULARLY SERVICED, AND DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS CONDUCTED 12/01/04. *AK

WHEN SHIFTING FROM PARK TO DRIVE OR REVERSE WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES A LOUD CLANKING NOISE WAS HEAD FROM THE REAR. ALSO, THE PASSENGER'S SIDE SEAT UNEXPECTEDLY UNRAVELED. CONSUMER DROVE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE REAR SLIP YOKE OF THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
I HAVE A 2002 SILVERADO CHEVROLET 1500 SHORT BED (~50K MI) WITH A STICKING THROTTLE BODY. I HAVE APPROACHED ELDORADO CHEVROLET TWICE ABOUT HAVING THE PROBLEM REMEDIED. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THAT CLEANING THE THROTTLE BODY IS A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE ISSUE- AND THAT IT IS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO TAKE CARE OF THIS. THE THING IS, THE OWNER'S MANUAL DOES NOT GIVE A MILEAGE OR TIME FRAME IN WHICH THIS ITEM SHOULD BE INSPECTED AND/ OR CLEANED!! I'VE READ NUMEROUS CONSUMER REPORTS AND TESTIMONIALS FROM OTHER CHEVY OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME PROBLEM. GM CUSTOMER SERVICE TELLS ME THAT ADDITIVES IN THE GASOLINE IN MY AREA (NORTH TEXAS) CAUSE CARBON TO BUILD UP IN THE THROTTLE BODY CAUSING THE GAS PEDAL TO STICK. I HAVE SEVERAL FRIENDS WHO LIVE IN MY AREA AND WHO OWN CHEVROLET PICKUPS. NONE OF THEM HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THEIR GAS PEDAL STICKING!! THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM FOR WHICH GM NEEDS TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY! IF I DO CLEAN THE THROTTLE BODY, THE PROBLEM IS LIKELY TO REOCCUR. I GUESS GM WILL SUGGEST I LOBBY TO HAVE THE TEXAS OIL PRODUCERS CHANGE THE CHEMICAL MAKEUP OF THEIR PETROLEUM PRODUCTS!! ON A COUPLE OF PREVIOUS OCCASIONS, THE ABS SYSTEM IN MY 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO 4X4 EXTENDED CAB ENGAGED ON ME AT WHILE BRAKING AT STOP LIGHTS ON MY WAY TO WORK. THIS CAUSED MY BRAKING DISTANCE TO DOUBLE OR EVEN TRIPLE ON HILL STOPS. I WAS VERY UPSET AT THESE FALIURES IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM AND IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO THE CLOSEST SERVICE STATION TO BE LOOKED AT. BECAUSE THEY WERE NOT A GM SERVICE CENTER, THEY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THE ABS SPEED SENSORS IN THE SILVERADO'S SO THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO TO FIX THIS. I THEN SET OUT TO MY CHEVY DEALERSHIP AFTER WORK TO GET THIS LOOKED AT. ON MY TRIP TO FOREST CITY CHEVROLET IN PORTLAND, MAINE I WAS EXITING THE HIGHWAY AND MAKING MY WAY DOWN THE TWISTING OFFRAMP TO THE STOP LIGHT WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES, THE ABS SYSTEM KICKED IN AT ABOUT 20 MPH! (NOT THE 5 TO 10 MPH AS OFFICIALLY SUGGESTED BY GM) I DID EVERTHING IN MY POWER AND REACH TO STOP THE VEHICLE BEFORE CRASHING INTO STOPPED TRAFFIC AHEAD OF ME INCLUDING APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE. THIS WAS THE SCARIEST MOMENT IN MY 14 YEARS OF DRIVING. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE ABS SYSTEM FUSE TO DISABLE THIS DISASTER OF A BRAKING SYSTEM AND CONTINUED TO THE DEALERSHIP. FROM THERE I WAS CHARGED 70 DOLLARS FOR A "DIAGNOSES" OF FAULTY ABS SPEED SENSORS AND ANOTHER 400+ DOLLARS TO REPLACE THEM. WHAT REALLY HURTS ME IS THAT THEY HAVE KNOWN TECHNICAL BULLETINS ABOUT THIS KNOWN DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND DO NOT NOTIFY THE OWNERS LIKE MYSELF TO WARN US OF POSSIBLE BRAKE FAILURE!! THEN TO CHARGE ME ALMOST 500 DOLLARS TO FIX THE PROBLEM ALTHOUGH MY VEHICLE WAS BARELY 2000 MILES OUT OF WARRANTY!! AND THEY HAD A TON OF THESE SPEED SENSORS IN STOCK SO WHATEVER GM IS CLAIMING THIS ISSUE AS BEING EXTREMELY WIDESPREAD IS FALSE, IT IS HAPPENING A LOT. I WAS SO FRIGHTENED THAT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME AGAIN, I TRADED IN MY TRUCK.
