DT: CALLER SAID THAT BRAKES FAILED OFTEN , AND HE DID NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH THE VEHICLE. THE CALLER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE BRAKES SINCE AFTER HE PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKES FAIEDL AT ALL SPEEDS AND UNDER ANY DRIVING CONDITION. HE SAID THE BRAKES FAILED ABOUT 50 TIMES. THE CALLER'S WIFE HIT A DEER WHEN THERE WAS ONLY 300 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, SHE COULD NOT STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CALLER WAS INVOLVED HAD A COLLISION DUE TO BRAKE FAILURE WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH WITH 8000 MILES NO VEHICLE. NO ONE WAS HURT, BUT THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE. HE SAID THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING SINCE NOVEMBER. DEALER TOLD THE CALLER HE COULD NOT DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH ANTI LOCK BRAKES. THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM OR WHAT WRONG WITH IT. THEY REFUSED TO WORK ON IT ANYMORE. MANUFACTURER WANTED THE CALLER TO PAY FOR ALL THE WORK TO FIND WHATS WRONG WITH IT, AND IF THEY FOUND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM THEY WOULD PAY HIM BACK, BUT IF THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR IT. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. *AK
PARKING DOES NOT HOLD VEHICLE IN PLACE WHEN FULLY ENGAGED. THE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELS TO FLOOR WITH VERY LITTLE RESISTANCE. VEHICLE CONTINUES TO ROLL ON INCLINE IF TAKEN OUT OF GEAR WITH PARKING BRAKE FULLY ENGAGED. THE PARKING BRAKE HAS NEVER FUNCTIONED PROPERLY SINCE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW IN 2002 FROM FOLSOM LAKE CHEVROLET, FOLSOM, CA. I'VE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE WITH OTHER CHEVY SILVERADO TRUCK OWNERS WITH THE 4-WHEEL DISC BRAKING ABS SYSTEM AND THEY ALL HAVE HAD THE IDENTICAL PROBLEM I HAVE HAD. I AM DISAPPOINTED AND ALARMED THAT GM HAS NOT DONE THE RIGHT THING AND TAKEN CARE OF THIS EVER SO APPARENT PROBLEM.*JB
DRIVERS SIDE MIRROR ON DOOR VIBRATES AT HIGHWAY SPEED. WITH MIRROR JUMPING ALL AROUND IT'S HARD TO FOCUS ON WHAT IS BEHIND. *AK CONSUMER STATED THE MIRROR WAS REPALCED, HOWEVER THE PROBLEM STILL EXITS.*JB
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND WITH NO WARNING THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF, CAUSING CONSUMER TO PULL OVER, AND IT WILL BE HARD TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK STARTED.DEALER NOTIFIED.*AK

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED AN OIL PUDDLE WAS NOTICED UNDER THE VEHICLE WHILE PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY ON 3 OCCASIONS. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND REPLACED THE OIL PAN GASKET. THE 2ND TIME AN OIL PUDDLE WAS FOUND, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO FOUND AN OIL LEAK IN THE CRANKCASE SENSOR. THE DEALER REPLACED THE OIL PAN GASKET & INSTALLED OIL PRESSURE UNIT ON 09/23/04. ON 09/05/06, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN IN FOR A RECALL, AND THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE OIL PAN GASKET NEEDED TO BE REPLACED A THIRD TIME.
CONSUMER STATES THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP, THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS, THE CONSUMER IS AFRAID TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. *SLC
WHEN THE VEHICLE MADE SUDDEN STOPS, THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR, AND THE VEHICLE DIDN'T STOP. THIS RESULTED IN AN ACCIDENT. PH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS LOW AND SOFT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WERE FINE. THE BRAKES STILL FELT UNSAFE. SCC
PARK BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD. VEHICLE HAS ROLLED OVER 3 TIMES WITH PARK BRAKE APPLIED. DEALER REPLACED PARK BRAKE ONCE.*AK
STANDARD STEEL WHEEL ON VEHICLE HOLDS WATER, AND WHEN THAT WATER FREEZES WHEELS GO OUT OF BALANCE. DEALER CONTACTED. *AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL JERK WHEN ACCELERATING. DEALER CONTACTED. *AK
WITH CRUISE/SPEED CONTROL SET/ON TRANSMISSION REPEATEDLY DOWNSHIFTS BELOW 4TH. AND 3RD. GEARS INTO 2ND. AND 1ST. GEARS CAUSING ERRATIC ACCELERATION, EXCESSIVE VIBRATION AND FATALLY HIGH ENGINE R.P.M. REVVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
PARKING BRAKE HAS NEVER WORKED. *JB
WHEN DRIVING IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND OPERATE HORN AT THE SAME TIME.*AK
ONGOING TICKING NOISE IN 5.3L V8 ENGINE WHILE RUNNING. DEALER NOTIFIED. FEEL FREE TO PROFVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
THE ENGINE REVES UP TO BETWEEN 1200 - 1500 RPM AT RANDOM WHEN ATTEMPTING TO STOP AT STOP SIGNS OR WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO TURN AND IN REVERSE GEAR WHEN BACKING.*AK
DRIVER'S SIDE AXLE HAS GOTTEN TOO RUSTY AND IS BECOMING CORRODED. CONTACTED DEALER, AND DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING.*AK
WHILE APPLYING BRAKE PEDAL GOES ALL THE WAY DOWN FLOORBOARD. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM. *AK
ALTHOUGH THE TRUCK IS RATED TO TOW 9000 LBS THE PARKING BRAKE WILL NOT HOLD MY 7000 POUND TRAILER FROM ROLLING DOWN THE HILL FORWARDS OR BACKWARDS. MY 3000 LB BOAT ROLLS BACKWARDS INTO THE WATER AT A BOAT LAUNCH. THE PBRAKE PEDAL GOES TO THE FLOOR WITH LITTLE RESISTANCE. TWO DIFFERENT CHEVY DEALERS HAVE SEEN THE TRUCK. THE FIRST DEALER ADJUSTED THE BRAKE AND IT WAS BETTER, THE SECOND SAID THAT THERE WAS NOTHING MORE THAT THEY COULD DO. IT STILL ROLLS WITH A TRAILER ON IT. THE DEALERS SAID THAT THE LOW RESISTANCE PBRAKE IS A DESIGN FEATURE.*AK
8.1 LITER ENGINE NOISE. ALSO BELT NOISE, BELT HAS BEEN REPLACED 3-TIMES.
THE RIGHT REAR TIRE ON MY VEHICLE WAS CRACKED ALL THE WAY AROUND ON THE SIDEWALL OF THE TIRE. THIS OCCURRED AFTER ONLY 2000 MILES. THIS WAS AN ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT TIRE ON THE TRUCK I JUST PURCHASED IN NOV 2001.*AK (TIRESIZE: P265/75R16)

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500.
AFTER VEHICLE WAS PARKED CAONSUME R SAW A LIGHT IN DASHBOARD. THEN, VEHICLE CAUGHT ON FIRE . PLEASE PROVIDE MORE INFORMATION.*AK
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE WILL CONTINUOUSLY PULL TO THE RIGHT, MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO STEER. THE DEALERSHIP HAS REPLACED THE STEERING GEAR AND DID SOME ALIGNMENT, BUT PROBLEM STILL OCCURS. PH THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN ALIGNED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS, AND HAVE NOT CORRECTED. THE FRONT TIRES WERE WEARING OUT UNEVENLY. SCC
ENGINE MAKES LOUD "TICKING" NOISE WHEN WARM AT IDLE. GM STATES NORMAL CONDITION. NOT ALL DURAMAX DEISELS MAKE THIS NOISE. IT CANNOT BE NORMAL. GM HAS NO INTEREST IN PURSUING. ALTHOUGH THIS MAY NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE, UNLESS THE ENGINE EXPLODES AS A RESULT, IT STILL IS VERY DISHEARTENING THAT GM WILL RELEASE THE PRODUCT WITH BUGS AND THE CUSTOMER IS FORCED TO ACCEPT.*AK
*AK CONSUMER STATED THAT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR IS TOO TIGHT CAUSING EXTREME PAIN IN SHOULDER, UNABLE TO USE AS DESIGNED. *YD
WE BOUGHT OUR ASTRO VAN IN 2001, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP ABOUT 22 OR 23 TIMES. MOST OF THEM MAJOR THINGS NEEDING TO BE FIXED OR REPLACED.*AK
THE INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR HAS A DISTORTION PROBLEM. ONLY IN THE MIDDLE OF THE MIRROR IS THE VIEW CLEAR. BUT WHEN THE VIEW IS IN THE TOP PART OR BOTTOM PART OF THE MIRROR, THE DISTORTION TAKES PLACE. THE DISTORTION IS IN THE FORM OF SEEING DOUBLE VISION. THE BEST WAY TO NOTICE THIS IS AT NIGHT WHEN ANOTHER VEHICLE IS NO CLOSER THAN 100 FEET BEHIND YOU AND YOU LOOK AT IT THROUGH THE INTERIOR REARVIEW MIRROR. PUT THAT VEHICLE'S HEADLIGHTS AT THE TOP AND AT THE BOTTOM PART OF THE MIRROR AND YOU WILL SEE FOUR HEADLIGHTS INSTEAD OF TWO HEADLIGHTS. EVEN IN THE DAYTIME, IF YOU LOOK CLOSELY AT THE VEHICLE BEHIND YOU, YOU WILL SEE A DOUBLE IMAGE OF ITS ROOF VIA A FAINT LINE. I HAVE REPLACED MY MIRROR AT THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THE SECOND ONE IS EVEN WORSE. I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH GM QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE. I KNOW OF ANOTHER 2002 CHEVY SILVERADO OWNER WHO ALSO HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM PROBABLY EXISTS ON MOST OF THEM. IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS, PLEASE CALL ME. I HAVE A 2002 CHEVY 4X4 PICKUP THAT HAS INTRMITENT NO BRAKES AT SLOW SPEED 3 TO 10 MILES PER HOUR IT HAS HAPENED 3 TIMES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS . THEY TELL ME THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSORS ARE TO BLAME ?
2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO BRAKE EQUIPMENT.*MR THE CONSUMER HAD TO REPLACE THE EAR ROTORS, SHOES AND HARDWARE. THE REAR AXLE FLUID WAS LOW AND DISCOLORED. WHEN THE REAR AXLE WAS SERVICED IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE FRONT AXLE VENT TUBE WAS LEAKING FROM THE ORING. THE AXLE VENT TUBE WAS REPLACED. *NM
2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH THE GOODYEAR WRANGLER RTS TIRES.*MR A COUPLE THOUSAND MILES AFTER THE TIRES WERE INSTALLED THE CONSUMER HEARD TIRES NOISE WITH VIBRATIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED AT THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONSUMER THAT EVERYTHING WAS FINE. THE CONSUMER CHOSE TO REMOVE THE TIRES AND INSTALL SNOW TIRES. ONCE THE TIRES WERE CHANGED THE NOISE AND VIBRATION NO LONGER EXISTED. WHEN THE CONSUMER INSPECTED THE TIRES HE NOTICED SIDEWALL BULGES, BUMPS AND OTHER IRREGULARITIES. *NM

2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH RECALL ON THE BRAKE SYSTEM. CONSUMER STATES THAT HE HAD NEW PADS, ROTORS, AND CALIPERS REPLACED WITH BRAND NEW PARTS. HE STATED THAT HIS PROBLEM RECURRED WHEN THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED IN DEC 2005 THE ABS WAS INSPECTED AND NO PROBLEM WAS FOUND. HOWEVER, 2 YEARS LATER THE CONSUMER BEGAN TO EXPERIENCE BRAKE PROBLEMS. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FRONT WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AT THE CONSUMERS EXPENSE. *JB
LTR FWD FM ELTON TREXLER (NC) RE DEFECTIVE RUSTY BRAKE LINES ON HIS 2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500 HD PICKUP TRUCK, INQUIRING WHY THERE IS NOT A RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. *NJ THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECENTLY EXPERIENCED SUDDEN AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO STOP. THE CONSUMER STATED HE DISCOVERED RUSTY SPOTS ON THE BRAKE LINES AND A HOLE THAT HAD COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH THE LINES WHICH ALLOWED BRAKE FLUID TO ESCAPE. *JB
2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH BRAKE PROBLEMS. *DT THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKES AND ROTORS HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE. ALSO, THE ABS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, BUT THE PART ALONE IS $1,000 AND THE LABOR IS $600.00. THE ABS ACTIVATED AT LOW SPEEDS. *JB
WHILE TRAVELING APPROX.60 MPH. ON HIGHWAY DRIVER SIDE REAR TIRE SUFFERED MAJOR BLOWOUT. IT IS TOTALLY SPLIT OUT AROUND OUTER EDGE HALFWAY AROUND TIRE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHERE TRUCK WAS PURCHASED AND THEY SAY IT IS NOT A RECALL TIRE, AND ALSO CONTACTED GM AND WAS TOLD SAME. ALLISON TRANSMISSION PROBLEM: WHILE IN OVERDRIVE WITH A TOWING LOAD GOING UPHILL, THE TRANSMISSION WILL DOWNSHIFT IN OR OUT OF CRUISE CONTROL, CAUSING THE ENGINE TO INCREASE SPEED UP TO THE DANGER ZONE OF 3300RPM . THE VEHICLE WAS CHECKED BY THE LISTED DEALER, WHOM NOTED THAT GENERAL MOTORS HAS NO CORRECTION AVAILABLE FOR THE DOWNSHIFTING AND ENGINE RACING IN OVERDRIVE. CONSUMER STATES WHILE TRYING TO USE THE HIGH BEAMS, THE HEADLIGHTS WITH OUT WARNING WILL CROSS PATHS LEFT LIGHT WITH REAR TO RIGHT AND LEFT TO RIGHT RESULTING IN LIMITED LIGHT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD.*JB *YD
