TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REARVIEW MIRROR DID NOT ADJUST AND THE BUTTONS DID NOT WORK. THE CONTACT CALLED PORTER CHEVROLET AT 302-722-4822 (LOCATED AT 414 E CLEVELAND AVE, NEWARK, DE 19711) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 173,000.
THE BRAKE LINE KEEP RUSTING OUT ON THESE VEHICLE AND THAT IS VERY DANGOURES TO ME AND OTHER PEOPLE ON THE RODE
TAILGATES CABLES NEEDS TO BE REPLACE IT....
WHILE PARKED I ATTEMPTED TO PUT VEHICLE INTO GEAR, BUT FOOT WENT TO FLOOR WHILE ENGAGING BRAKES. CHECKED UNDER CAR AND DIDN'T NOTE FLUID LEAK SO I CHECK RESERVOIR WHICH WAS FULL. HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP THAT SAID THAT LINES CORRODED AND FAILED. THEY DESCRIBED HOW THEY WOULDN'T ONLY REPLACE CORRODED LINE SINCE OTHER LINES WOULD BREAK OFF. FAILED TO MENTION THAT THIS IS COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR 1999-2003 TRUCKS IN NORTHEAST. QUOTED $150.00 FOR KIT AND $850 FOR LABOR TO INSTALL. VEHICLE HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY BOB FISHER (READING, PA) DEALERSHIP EACH YR. SINCE 2015 SO I'M CONCERNED THAT THEY NEVER INDICATED THAT THIS WAS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 800 (NA). WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED OFF AND ON. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A TAKATA SETTLEMENT NOTICE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
TAKATA RECALL, I CONTACTED HERNDON CHEVROLET AND MADE AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT TOLD ME THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME SINCE TAKATA HAS NOT SENT THEM REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS. THEY FURTHER STATED THAT TAKATA WOULD NOT BE SENDING REPLACEMENT AIRBAGS SENSE THEY WERE BANKRUPT. HERNDON CHEVROLET REFUSED TO EVEN CONTACT ME IF REPLACEMENT PARTS BECAME AVAILABLE . I THEN CALLED LOVE CHEVROLET OF COLUMBIA AND WAS TOWED BY THEIR SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT'S THERE WAS NO RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS AT THIS TIME.
FUEL PUMP WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (VERY DANGEROUS). TRUCK JUST DIE WHILE DRIVING. HAVE IT CHECK TO LEARN THE FUEL PUMP IS NEEDS TO REPLACE. I DID A LITTLE RESEARCH AND FIND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM TO THIS TRUCK ... RECALL?
THE TPS THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR CHECK ENGINE CODE KEEPS GOING OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN THE TPS CODE GOES OFF THE ENGINE LOSES TOTAL POWER AND YOU ARE UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, WHICH IS A SAFETY ISSUE. WE HAVE REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY BUT THE ISSUE IS STILL REMAINING EVEN AFTER REPLACING DIFFERENT WIRES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. AN UNKNOWN INJURY WAS SUSTAINED TO THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE, WHICH REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO APPROVED AUTO (17 DANVILLE RD, PLAISTOW, NH 03865) WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS NOT PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A SUDDEN STOP, THE DRIVER DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP. AFTER DEPRESSING THE PEDAL A SECOND TIME, THE BRAKES MALFUNCTIONED AGAIN AND THE PEDAL EXTENDED TO THE FLOORBOARD. A CRASH ALMOST OCCURRED DUE TO THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES LOCATED UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE RAIL HAD RUPTURED DUE TO RUST AND CORROSION. THE BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED AND THE FAILURE WAS REMEDIED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE REVERSING OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED AND TRAVELED TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (GRAHAM CHEVROLET CADILLAC, 1515 W 4TH ST MANSFIELD, OH 44906) AND WAS INFORMED OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,000.
JUST HAD WORK DONE ON THE TRUCK AND IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE AUTOSHOP MY BRAKE LINE BURST CAUSING ME TO HAVE NO BRAKES. LIMPED THE TRUCK DOWN THE STREET TO MY WORK UNTIL I COULD TOW IT HOME. THERE IS NO REASON EVEN WITH LIVING IN A SNOW STATE THAT MY BRAKE LINES SHOULD HAVE FAILED.

4 RUGGED TERRAIN T/A LT265/75R-16 PURCHASED AT ODOMETER 91681. TIRES ROTATED AT 100955. FOLLOWING HAPPENED WHILE HIGHWAY DRIVING. ON 8/19/2015, ODOMETER 109831, VEHICLE VIBRATING, FOUND BUBBLE (TREAD SEPARATION) ON LEFT REAR TIRE. TIRE WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. ON 8/4/2017, ODOMETER 121840, VEHICLE VIBRATING, FOUND BUBBLE (TREAD SEPARATION) ON RIGHT REAR TIRE. HAVE NOT TAKEN TIRE TO DEALER YET. FRONT TIRES SEEM TO BE "SINGING" WITH A "RHYTHM" (BEST I CAN EXPLAIN). I'M HAVING ALL CHECKED OUT TODAY. I DON'T TRUST THESE TIRES ANYMORE.
MY BRAKE LINE RUSTED OUT CAUSING BRAKE FAILURE AND MY FUEL LINE RUSTED OUT CAUSEING FUEL LEAK. THE BRAKES WENT OUT IN MOTION FUEL LINE ALSO.
THE ISSUE I'M REPORTING TOOK PLACE IN MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500HD VIN: [XXX] BUT THE VEHICLE ITSELF WAS NOT AT FAULT. THE PROBLEM WAS FROM A EVERSTART MAXX BATTERY SERIAL# JCH1600480782 MANUFACTURED BY JOHNSON CONTROLS INC, SOLD BY WALMART. I NOTICED A PROBLEM ON 7/25/2017 AFTER DRIVING MY VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN NEEDING TO USE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER TO CLEAN INSECTS OFF TO IMPROVE VISIBILITY. WHEN I USED THE CONTROL TO ACTIVATE THE WINDSHIELD WASHER NOTHING HAPPENED. AFTER ARRIVING HOME I ATTEMPTED TO FILL THE WASHER FLUID BUT IT WAS ALREADY HALF FULL. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE TRUCK AND NOTICED LEAKING WASHER FLUID. I THOUGHT MAYBE THERE WAS A LEAK SOMEWHERE SO I INVESTIGATED IT. TO GET TO THE WASHER BOTTLE THE BATTERY MUST BE REMOVED AND WHEN REMOVED IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE BATTERY WAS LEAKING ACID EVERYWHERE. SOME ACID DID GET ON MY CLOTHING AND ATE THROUGH IT BUT THANKFULLY NONE MADE CONTACT WITH MY SKIN. THE BATTERY SITS ABOVE THE WASHER BOTTLE, PUMP, LINES, AND BATTERY TRAY - ALL OF THESE COMPONENTS WERE DESTROYED BY LEAKING ACID. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH JOHNSON CONTROLS INC, THE MAKER OF THE BATTERY AND THEY SEEM DISINTERESTED IN WHAT HAPPENED. I HAVE SAVED ALL DAMAGED PARTS, RECEIPTS, AND CORRESPONDENCE SO FAR. IN THE FOLLOWING PICTURES YOU WILL SEE THE WHITE CORROSION FROM THE ACID LEAK AND THE PARTS THAT WERE DESTROYED LEAVING THE WINDSHIELD WASHER INOPERABLE WHILE DRIVING AND REDUCING VISIBILITY. I'LL ALSO INCLUDE A PICTURE OF THE SHIRT THAT CAME INTO CONTACT WITH ACID WHEN LIFTING THE BATTERY OUT AND THE HOLES IT ATE THROUGH THE FABRIC. THE BATTERY KEEPS BEING DRAINED WHEN ENGINE STAYS TURNED OFF. I RESEARCHED AND FOUND MANY COMPLAINTS REGARDING THIS 2003 SILVERADO ISSUE WITH MANY OTHER OWNERS. WHEN I RESEARCHED ON A RECALL I FOUND THE RECALL NUMBER (02066) BUT IT STATES THAT OUR TRUCK VIN NUMBER IS NOT INCLUDED BUT THEN WHY HAVE I BOUGHT 4 BATTERIES JUST THIS YEAR ALONE? PLEASE HELP BECAUSE IT NO LONGER CRANKS UP AT ALL. I HAVE TO JUMP THE TRUCK EVERY TIME I HAVE TO TURN IT ON.

BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS SLOWLY WITH THE BATTERY RUNNING OUT BECAUSE SOMETHING IS STILL RUNNING IN THE VEHICLE BUT EVERYTHING IS OFF. THE GAS GAUGE GEAR CONTROL LIGHTING ON THE PANEL DOOR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE WILL NOT LOCK SPEEDOMETER IS NOT WORKING GAS GAUGE IS NOT WORKING WAS CHECKED BY A MECHANIC AND HE ADDRESS THAT SOMETHING IS NOT CONSTANT RUNNING EVEN THOUGH EVERYTHING IS TURNED OFF THAT CAUSE THE BATTERY TO RUN DOWN WHEN IT IS OFF. ALSO THE LIGHTS DON'T LIGHT ON THE RIGHT SIDE STAYS ON AND NEVER GOES OFF WHEN RUNNING THE VEHICLE. I NOTICED THIS ON A LOT OF 2500 CHEVY TRUCKS. WE HAVE TAKEN THIS VEHICLE IN TO BE CHECK. WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED TO DISPLAY THE PROPER SPEED INTERMITTENTLY AND WOULD DISPLAY ZERO WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
THIS ACTUALLY DOESN'T HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH AN ACCIDENT. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL ON OUR CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 DOESN'T WORK EXCEPT FOR THE SPEEDOMETER. THE MILEAGE ON THIS VEHICLE IS 68,901, HOURS DRIVEN 2,498.6. I CAN'T TELL WHAT THE AMOUNT OF GAS, OIL PRESSURE, TEMPERATURE, ETC. IS. I REALLY THINK WITH THIS LOW MILEAGE THIS PANEL SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER.
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ARE BREAKING CREATING A FIRE HAZARD FROM THE HOT EXHAUST REACHING THE WIRING HARNESS, IT IS ALSO CREATING FUMES IN MY CAB. FIRST NOTED A NOISE A WEEK AGO, FOUND IT TO BE A EXHAUST LEAK AND THE LEAK HAS GRADUALLY GOTTEN WORSE. I AM UNABLE TO NOT DRIVE TO THE TRUCK DUE TO WORK.
ON 2/20/2017 MY 2003 SILVERADO HAD A TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE. BOTH FRONT AND REAR BRAKE SYSTEMS FAILED AT THE SAME TIME, DUE TO PREMATURE BRAKE LINE FAILURE, CAUSED BY BRAKE LINES THAT WERE NOT DESIGNED TO WITHSTAND ROAD SALT USED IN MICHIGAN, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS SOLD AND DRIVEN.
'TAKATA RECALL' MY AIR BAGS WERE FRAMED UNSAFE FROM BEING A VEHICLE FROM A WARM CLIMATE. REPLACEMENT WAS NEEDED TO ENSURE SAFE GUARDS.
BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT THEY ARE LEAKING AND DEVELOPING SMALL CRACKS IN THEM.

THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND THE OIL READER IS ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY THE REDUCED SPEED WARNING COMES ON THE ENGINE REDUCES SPEED AND CANNOT GO OVER 30 IN A 30 MILE RADIUS IT HAS DONE THIS TO ME 4 TIMES JUST THIS MORNING TO WORK. *TR
THE VEHICLE GOES INTO REDUCED ENGINE POWER WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE LOSES POWER TO ABOUT 20 MPH. IF DRIVING 70 MPH IT IS VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE THE SUDDEN REDUCED ENGINE POWER WILL CAUSE A SEVERE ACCIDENT AND POSSIBLY KILL SOMEBODY. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING THE LAST FEW MONTHS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON RESOLVED THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE OR PRODUCE A FAULT CODE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED THREE TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
DRIVING ALONG AND WE APPROACHED A ROUND ABOUT CIRCLE, ANOTHER VEHICLE WAS COMING EXTREMELY FAST WHICH FORCED ME TO BRAKE HARD, MY TRUCK STARTED TO BRAKE AND THEN ALL BRAKING WAS LOST. I SLAMMED THE TRUCK INTO 1ST GEAR AND PULLED OFF THE ROAD. I LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM BRAKE LINE. I DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH BRAKES TO STOP THE TRUCK. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, I'M JUST GLAD I WAS DRIVING AND NOT MY SON OR WIFE.THE TRUCK IS STORED IN A GARAGE AND I FEEL THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THESE BRAKE LINES TO RUST.
OCT 29, 2016, 120,000MILES. TOTAL BRAKE FAILURE FROM RUSTED BRAKE LINES WHILE DRIVING ON RURAL HIGHWAY SLOWING DOWN FROM DRIVING 55MPH. I WAS ABLE TO AVOID CRASHING. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS HERE. THESE VEHICLES ARE NOT SAFE TO DRIVE, IF YOU KNOW OF ANYONE WITH SIMILAR VEHICLES, WARN THEM. *TR
WHEN I WENT TO OPEN THE CAR DOOR SMOKE CAME OUT. THE TRUCK HADN'T BEEN DRIVEN IN TWO DAYS AND NOTHING WAS PLUG IN TO THE CHARGING OUTLET. THE ENTIRE DASH HAD MELTED. THE HEAT WAS HOT ENOUGH TO CRACK THE WINDSHIELD AND POP OPEN THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. THE VHELIHICLE WAS PARKED THE DRIVEWAY OF THE PRIMARY RESIDENCE.
BRAKES FAILED DUE TO CORROSIVE FAILURE OF BRAKE LINE. $1500 REPAIR BILL.

THE BRAKE LINES HAVE RUSTED THROUGH AND CAUSED A FAILURE WHILE DRIVING
THE BRAKE LINE TO THE FRONT BRAKES BURST AND RESULTED IN NO BRAKES. IN 2013 THE BRAKE LINE TO THE REAR BURST AND HAD THE SAME RESULT. FORTUNATELY I DID NOT HAVE AN ACCIDENT IN EITHER CASE. I REPAIRED THE REAR BRAKE LINE AND I EXPECTED YOUR ORGANIZATION TO ISSUE A RECALL BECAUSE MY RESEARCH INDICATED THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE TO BE INJURED OR KILLED TO ISSUE A RECALL. THERE IS A REASONABLE EXPECTATION THAT A VEHICLE IN GOOD CONDITION THAT IS TEN YEARS OLD AND LESS THAN 100,000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE ITS BRAKES FAIL COMPLETELY AND UNEXPECTEDLY. WHY ARE THESE VEHICLES ALLOWED TO BE PRODUCED WITH BRAKE LINES MADE OF MATERIALS THAT WILL CERTAINLY FAIL IN A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IN BOTH INSTANCES, I WAS TRAVELING AT A LOW SPEED. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN A DRIVER, ESPECIALLY AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER HAS THEIR BRAKES FAIL AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. YOU SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL FOR THE VEHICLES INVOLVED.
INVOLVING MY 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO C2500HD, VIN: [XXX]; WHEN I ATTEMPTED TO MOVE THIS VEHICLE,ON A FLAT SURFACE IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK CONTINUED TO ROLL. NARROWLY MISSING ANOTHER VEHICLE...MINUTES EARLIER I HAD BEEN DRIVING ON A MAJOR MICHIGAN HIGHWAY. THERE IS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING NEAR THE CENTER OF THE VEHICLE. BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH AND RUPTURED RESULTING IN TOTAL BRAKE LOSS AND A CRASH. THE LINES FAILED AT A POINT DIRECTLY UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. IT WAS IN MOTION ON A CITY STREET AND STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE ALSO DAMAGING THAT.
I HAVE A 2003 SILVERADO AND UPON ARRIVING HOME I FELT MY BRAKE PEDDLE GO TO THE FLOOR AND I COULDN'T STOP AND BACKED INTO MY TRAILER, I GOT OUT OF THE TRUCK AND NOTICED A HUGE PUDDLE UNDER MY DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. AFTER INVESTIGATING I FOUND THAT THE STEEL HYDRAULIC LINE HAD RUSTED & BROKE. I AM DISABLED WITH 4 AUTO IMMUNE DISEASES AND CANNOT AFFORD TO PUT IT IN THE SHOP SO I ORDERED THE PART, REPLACED IT AND PROCEEDED TO BLEED THE LINE AND FOUND THAT 3 OTHER STEEL LINES HAD HOLES IN THEM OR HAD RUSTED ALL THE WAY THROUGH. I ALSO HAVE RUST ALL UNDER THE TRUCK. I WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE TWO FRONT SUPPORT BRACES AS THEY HAVE RUSTED ALL THROUGH. AT $120 EACH. SO FROM FRONT TO BACK ALL THE STEEL LINES HAVE RUSTED. I WAS BLESSED TO HAVE HAD THIS HAPPEN IN MY DRIVE. HAD I DRIVEN ANOTHER MILE OR SO I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. I NOW HAVE A FEAR OF DRIVING. BEING DISABLED IT IS TAKING ME SEVERAL DAYS TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE, AND STILL HAVE ONE LINE TO REPLACE. I PURCHASED MY SILVERADO BRAND NEW AND I LIVE IN KENTUCKY SO I DON'T HAVE A GREAT DEAL OF ROAD SALT OR SEA SALT. I HAVE OWNED CHEVROLET PRODUCTS MY HOLE LIFE. PRIOR TO THIS TRUCK I HAD A 1989 SILVERADO PURCHASED NEW AND PRIOR TO THAT I OWNED A 1971 MONTE CARLO HANDED DOWN TO ME AND NONE OF THESE VEHICLE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH RUST LIKE THAT. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING TO VEHICLE WITH THIS FEW OF YEARS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE DEFLATED DUE TO A FRACTURED ALUMINUM RIM. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
MY WIFE AND I WERE DRIVING HOME A FEW NIGHTS AGO. WHEN APPROACHING AND INTERSECTION THE LIGHT TURNED RED. I PRESSED ON THE BRAKES TO STOP AND THE BRAKE WENT TO THE FLOOR. WE WERE OUT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION BEFORE I COULD GET STOPPED. THANK GOD IT WAS LATE AT NIGHT AND THERE WAS NOT MUCH TRAFFIC. IF IT WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE DAY WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR EVEN KILLED. I AM GLAD IT HAPPENED AT A SLOW SPEED AN NOT ON THE INTERSTATE AND NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF US. I PULLED OVER AS SOON AS I COULD AND I COULD SEE BRAKE FLUID RUNNING OUT FROM UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I HAVE NOW GOING TO HAVE PAY FOR A VERY EXPENSIVE REPAIR TO HAVE ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES REPLACED. I BEG YOU FOR GOD'S SAKE ISSUE A RECALL ON THE TRUCKS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED.
AT 60 TO 75MPH THERE IS A BAD VIBRATION OF THE TRUCK IT GETS SO BAD THE FREEWAY INTERCHANGES ARE SCARY...
THE SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER WERE ACTING ERRATICALLY, SPEEDOMETER WOULD READ 110 MPH AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED, THE TACHOMETER WOULD READ 0- 1000 RPM AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEEDS, HAD TO SEND CLUSTER FOR REPAIR. MAIN GROUNDING STRAP WAS BROKEN DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND REPLACED AFTER BEING TOWED TO DEALER. AIR BAG SERVICE LIGHT IS ON INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING, PROBLEM TO BE RESOLVED.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS IS MY THIRD EVENT RELATING TO BRAKE LINE FAILURE. THIS EVENT, I WAS DRIVING AND NOTICED THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME SPONGY. FURTHER INSPECTION SHOWED A LEAK OF BRAKE FLUID ABOVE MY FUEL TANK AND AT THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. THERE APPEARS TO BE FLUID ON THE FRAME OF THE TRUCK BEHIND THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT TIRE. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO INSPECT THE LINE ABOVE THE FUEL TANK AT THIS TIME. I HAVE ATTACHED A PHOTO OF THE WET FRAME BEHIND THE LEFT FRONT TIRE. IT SHOWS A RUSTED BRAKE LINE. THE FIRST TWO EVENTS MY JUVENILE SON WAS DRIVING. FOR ALL EVENTS WE WERE EXTREMELY FORTUNATE TO BE OPERATING IN OUR YARD, SO NO ACCIDENTS. THE FIRST TWO EVENTS HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 2 YEARS AGO. INSPECTING THE BRAKE LINES THAT FAILED, SHOWED THAT THESE LINES WERE SEVERELY RUSTED. AS A MATTER OF FACT, INSPECTING THE LINES THAT ARE VISIBLE, THEY ALL SHOW SIGNS OF RUSTING. I AM FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO REPAIR THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION, SO I DO NOT HAVE ANY DEALER PAPERWORK TO DOCUMENT THE REPAIRS. I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS OF GENERAL MOTOR TRUCKS OUT THERE WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND LIKE MYSELF DECIDED TO JUST REPAIR IT THEMSELVES, AVOIDING THE COMPLAINT PROCESS. OR, I QUESTION IF, LIKE MYSELF, THEY EVEN HAVE KNOWLEDGE OF HOW TO FILE A COMPLAINT. PLEASE FORGIVE ME FOR THE LAST EXPRESSION OF FRUSTRATION. FINALLY, HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO DIE FOR THIS TO BECOME SERIOUS ENOUGH FOR A RECALL ORDER? THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS VERY SERIOUS MATTER!!!
LUCKILY, I WAS ON MY STREET NEAR MY HOUSE WHEN MY BRAKES COMPLETELY FAILED. THE BRAKE PEDDLE WENT RIGHT TO THE FLOOR...I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK. I FOUND THE PROBLEM TO BE RUSTED OUT BRAKE LINES AND WHEN I USED THE INTERNET I SEE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS TRUCK.
I WAS PUTTING TRUCK IN REVERSE WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR, HAD TO PUT ON PARKING BRAKE TO STOP. THE CHECK BRAKE SYSTEM CAME ON. BRAKE LINE BUSTED. HAS LINES LOOKED AT AND THEY FOUND ALL THE LINES WERE RUSTED. HAD REPAIRS DONE FOR 410.68. THE TRUCK WAS ON STEEP DRIVEWAY.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND CAUSED THE BRAKES TO FAIL. THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. UPDATED 10/13/16*LJ *TR
I JUST BOUGHT MY TRUCK ABOUT A MONTH AGO. I WAS UNDER IT CHANGING THE OIL AND I NOTICED AN ALARMING AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE FRAME MEMBERS AND THE BRAKE LINES. SOME OF IT LOOKS SO BAD THAT I AM CONCERNED OF HAVING EITHER FRAME BREAKAGE OR A BRAKE LINE FAILING. I HAVE READ MANY OTHER STORIES OF THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO OTHER TRUCKS. I HAVE NOT HAD A FAILURE YET BUT I BELIEVE IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. AFTER READING ALL OF THE HORROR STORIES FROM OTHER OWNERS ON VARIOUS WEB SITES, I AM TERRIFIED EVERY TIME I DRIVE IT THAT THE BRAKES ARE GOING TO FAIL. I CANNOT AFFORD TO SPEND $3000 TO $4000 TO HAVE THE TRUCK FIXED. ESPECIALLY WHEN I CONSIDER IT A MANUFACTURER DEFECT OF A SAFETY ITEM. PLEASE ISSUE A RECALL FOR THESE PROBLEMS BEFORE PEOPLE ARE INJURED OR KILLED BECAUSE THE FRAME HAS BROKEN OR THE BRAKES HAVE FAILED.
MY BRAKE LINES RUPTURED. VEHICLE HAS 133000 MILES ON IT. THEIR IS ALSO EXCESSIVE RUSTING UNDERBODY.
WAS TRAVELING EAST ON HWY 158 AND PUSHED ON BRAKE PEDAL AT THE INTERSECTION OF ZOO ROAD AT A RED LIGHT WITH CARS COMING AND THE PEDAL WHEN TO THE FLOOR AND THE TRUCK BRAKES GRAB A COUPLE OF SHORT TIMES BUT DID NOT STOP THE TRUCK , WENT THRU THE INTERSECTION JUST MISSING A CAR , SMOKE WAS COMING FROM THE DRIVERS SIDE OF THE TRUCK HAD TO PUSH ON EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET THE TRUCK STOP. GOT OUT AND LOOK AND A RUSTED BRAKE LINE HAD BUSTED , WAS TRAVELING ABOUT 45 MILES AN HOUR WHEN THIS OCCURRED. .
