RATTLE SOUND AROUND THE WINDSHIELD. DEALER TRIED TO SAY IT WAS THE TIRES OUT OF BALANCE WHEN THE TRUCK WAS BRAND NEW. AFTER 3 VISITS TO THE DEALER THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS. *LA
TAIL GATE LATCH FAILED TO HOLD THE TAIL GATE IN THE LATCHED POSITION. THE TAIL GATE POPPED OPEN AND THE RETAINING CABLE ON THE PASSENGER OF THE TAIL GATE BROKE AS A RESULT OF THE TAIL GATE FALLING OPEN. THE TAIL GATE THEN CAME OUT OF ITS RETAINING SOCKET , ON THE PASSENGER SIDE, AND FELL TO THE GROUND. I WAS IN A ROAD CONSTRUCTION ZONE, WITH NO PLACE TO PULL OVER. AFTER ABOUT AN EIGHTH OF A MILE I WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SHOULDER. THE TAIL GATE WAS SERIOUSLY DAMAGED. MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THE LATCH AND THE FAILURE OF THE RETAINING CABLE. *JB
DT: THE BRAKE PEDAL IS SOFT AND WILL GO TO THE FLOOR WHEN STOPPING. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. STARTED NOTICING THE BRAKE PROBLEM ON JUNE 1, 2003. CONTACTED THE DEALER, AND THEY DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. THERE WAS RECALL FOR THE ABS BRAKES FOR 2002 MODELS. HOWEVER, THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED DUE TO VIN. CONTACTED GMC, AND THEY SAID TO GO TO A DIFFERENT DEALER. THEY DID SO AND GOT THE SAME RESULTS. *AK
CLUNCKING UNDER HOOD FELT IN STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE A 2001 TAHOE WITH THE EXACT PROBLEM. THE STEERING GEAR MUST BE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE REPLACED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *AK
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE STALLED. CONSUMER RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND DROVE IT TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION. HOWEVER, MECHANIC COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM . *AK *NM
HARSH 1-2 SHIFT SLIPPING 1-2 SHIFT FOLLOWED BY HARSH ENGAGEMENT. *LA
AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING ON A NEW CHEVY SILVERADO PICK-UP/ FOLLOWING A VEHICLE CRASH. DRIVER WAS INJURED, AND SCARRED. WAS HOSPITLIZED AND STILL HAVING PROBLEMS AND WILL HAVE A LIFETIME SCAR ON FACE AREA. ALSO LEGS AND THIGHS ARE SCARRED. OUR SON WAS TRAVELING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED PASSING, LOST CONTROL WENT OFF HIGHWAY HEAD ON INTO DEEP DITCH, FLIPPED OVER, WENT SIDE TO SIDE COMING TO REST SIDEWAYS ON TIRES THAT WERE NOW FLAT AND STILL NO AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. SENT A COMPLAINT AND PICTURES, POLICE REPORT AND MEDICAL RECORDS TO GM, NO SATISFACTION FROM THERE. WHAT DOES A VEHICLE HAVE TO HAVE DONE TO HAVE AN AIRBAG DEPLOY???? VEHICLE WAS TOTALED. SON IS PERMANTLY SCARRED, AND PARENTS HAVE LOST FAITH IN CHEVY TRUCKS, AND AIRBAGS. HIS OLDER BROTHER CO-SIGNED SO HE WOULD HAVE A "NEW, SAFER" VEHICLE AND AM NOW SO VERY UPSET WITH GM AS TO AN EXPLANATION AS TO WHY THESE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY TO PROTECT OUR SON. THIS VEHICLE (HE WAS SPEEDING PASSING) WENT OFF THE ROAD HEAD ON INTO A DEEP DITCH, OVERTURNED SEVERAL TIMES, HIT SIDE TO SIDE IN DITCH, FLATTENED TIRES AND CAME TO REST ON SHOULDER OF ROAD. NOW HOW MUCH MORE DOES IT TAKE TO DEPLOY AN AIR BAG???? I THINK IF WE WERE WEALTHY AND COULD AFFORD A LAWYER THEY MAYBE WOULD OF LISTENED AND CHECKED THIS MORE, BUT AS WE ARE JUST "COMMON" HARD WORKING US CITIZENS, WE DON'T REALLY COUNT. ALSO OUR SON WAS DRINKING AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT, ( SHOULD NOT MATTER TO SAFETY OF VEHICLE EQUIPMENT) I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT "CATASTROPIC ENOUGH" OF AN ACCIDENT TO WARRENT ANY DAMAGES. ?? THEN THEY TRIED TO SAY THE "ACCIDENT" (MEANING VEHICLE) WASN'T. I THINK WE ALL KNOW WHAT THEY MEANT. WE WERE NOT LOOKING FOR "MILLIONS" (STRETCHING IT), JUST HIS MEDICAL BILLS AND THE PROBLEM CORRECTED IN OTHER CHEVY'S SO THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE. AS USUAL THE HONEST PEOPLE, AND HARD WORKING MIDDLE CLASS CAN GET NO HELP. PRAYERS GO OUT TO ANYONE ELSE THIS HAS HAPPENED TO AND THAT IT WON'T HAPPEN TO SOMEONE ELSE'S CHILD.
I HAVE A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 PICKUP WITH 37,000 MILES AND I BELIEVE CHEVY IS USING INFERIOR COMPONENTS IN THE BRAKING SYSTEM . I HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTORS AT 35,000 MILES BECAUSE THEY STARTED TO RUST AND CRUMBLE. ONCE THE ROTORS STARTED TO RUST LARGE PORTIONS WOULD "FLAKE" OFF. RECENTLY ONE OF MY BRAKE LINES FAILED AND I ROLLED THRU A STOP SIGN, LUCKILY NO ONE WAS COMING THE OTHER WAY AND IT WAS CLOSE TO MY HOUSE SO I "LIMPED" IT HOME. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION I DISCOVERED ALL OF THE BRAKES LINES WERE RUSTED AND READY TO FAIL. THE ENTIRE BRAKE PLUMBING SYSTEM ON THE TRUCK HAD TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION WHILE REPLACING THE BRAKE LINES I ALSO NOTICED THE FUEL LINES APPEAR TO BE IN PRETTY BAD SHAPE AND WILL PROBABLY NEED TO BE REPLACED IN THE NEAR FUTURE. I HAVE THE RUSTED BRAKE LINES, I DO NOT HAVE THE ROTORS. *TR
WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO 4 WHEEL DRIVE HIGH WITHOUT WARNING. FOR THE THIRD TIME THE SENSOR MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED BY THE SERVICE DEALER. *JB *CB *JB
VEHICLE SEEMS TO GO INTO 4-WHEEL DRIVE BY ITSELF WHILE DRIVING . THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME THREE TIMES ALREADY. I WANT TO SWITCH DEALERS BUT GM TOLD ME NO I HAVE TO STAY WITH THE DEALER WHO WORKED ON THE VEHICLE. AS THIS HAPPENS THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN CONSIDERABLY CAUSING THE SEAT BELT TO LOCK AND HOLD ME BACK. ALSO AT TIMES THE VEHICLE JUST SLOWS DOWN WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. THE CHECK 4 WHEEL DRIVE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE PUSH BUTTONS ON THE PANEL DO NOT OPERATE. (THE LIGHTS GO OUT) I ALSO THINK THIS HAS CAUSED MY ODOMETER TO FAST FORWARD. IT TELLS ME NOW THAT I HAVE 29900 MILES ON THE TRUCK . I HAVE ALL RECORDS AND NEED HELP. I TRAVEL TO WORK 8 TIMES A MONTH AND ROUND TRIP IS 114 MILES THIS DOES NOT SEEM TO WORK OUT . CAN THEY CHECK THE ELECTRONICS AND SEE ACTUAL MILES FROM THE COMPUTER. *JB
I JUST BOUGHT A C1500 REGULAR CAB SHORT BED TRUCK. I WAS APPALLED TO FIND OUT THAT THE TIRES ARE RATED AT 950 LBS. AT MAX LOAD OF 44PSI. THE TRUCKS DRY CURB WEIGHT IS LISTED AT 4142 LBS. AND MAX PAY LOAD IS 1958. THESE NUMBERS INDICATED THAT THE TRUCK CHEVROLET SUPPLIED IS ON TIRES THAT ARE NOT EVEN RATED TO HOLD THE TRUCK EMPTY! I CAN'T USE MY TRUCK TO HAUL OR CARRY ANYTHING WITHOUT EXCEEDING THE TIRE MANUFACTURES RATING. THE TIRES ARE GOODYEAR WRANGLER ST P235/75R16 (PASSENGER CARE TIRES?) I DO NOT THINK I SHOULD DRIVE THIS TRUCK ON THESE TIRES. I WANT GM TO REPLACE THEM WITH TIRES THAT ARE RATED TO THE CAPACITIES OF THE TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT ON THE ASSUMPTIONS GIVEN IN THE CHEVY TRUCK BROCHURES SUPPLIED AT THE DEALERSHIPS. THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK ARE NOT EVEN LT (LIGHT TRUCK) AND ARE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS IS A COPY OF WHAT I SUBMITTED TO THE CHEVROLET.COM WEBSITE. I DO NOT FAULT THOROBRED CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP FOR THIS BUT DO EXPECT SOME CORRECTIVE ACTION. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN FIRST AND SECOND GEARS TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTERMITTENTLY, CAUSING VEHICLE SHUTTER VIOLENTLY, AND BECAME VERY HARD TO DOWN SHIFT. *AK
THE BLUE INDICATOR LIGHT FOR HIGH BEAMS WAS ON. THE LIGHT WAS VERY BRIGHT. THE CONSUMER ALMOST RAN OFF THE ROAD AS A RESULT. THE DEALER TOLD THE CONSUMER TO PUT A PIECE OF TAPE OVER THE INDICATOR LIGHT. *NLM
PURCHASED 2/2003; "SERVICE TRANSMISSION" LIGHT COMES ON INTERMITTENTLY; DEALER UNABLE TO FIX PROBLEM. GRINDING NOISE IN TRANSMISSION; ADVISED BY DEALER NOT TO USE 4WD LOW AS IT MAY BECOME STUCK. *NLM
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED VEHICLE DRIFTED TO THE LEFT. CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS, WHO HAD DONE FOUR ALIGNMENTS, BUT THE PROBLEM STILL PERSISTS. *AK
VERY EXCESSIVE DRIVETRAIN CLUNK WHILE DOWN SHIFTING 3-2 GEAR, UPSHIFT 2-3 AND NOW IS GETTING WORSE AS 1-2 AND 2-1 ARE CLUNKING DUE TO EXCESSIVE DRIVE TRAIN FREEPLAY. THE PROBLEM IS AGGARVATED ROUNDING SLOW CORNORS, DOWN A GRADE OR WITH A LOAD. THE DEALER TRIED TO MADE ME BELIEVE I WAS HEARING THINGS AND EVERTHING IS FINE THE FIRST TIME IN, YET EVERYONE WHO RIDES IN IT ASKS "WHATS THAT BANGING". THE SECOND TIME IN THE DEALER FOR THE PROBLEM I GOT A TECH SERVICE BULLETIN, WHICH SAYS OWNERS MAY FIND THE CLUNK OBJECTIONABLE?? WILL NOT ADVERSELY AFFECT DURABILITY??? THERE IS NO WAY THIS DRIVETRAIN WILL LAST AS LONG AS A NONCLUNKER. THE DEALER WAS ALSO GOING TO GET ME AN EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR DRIVETRAIN, WHICH DIDN'T HAPPEN. VERY FRUSTRATED CHEVY WON'T FIX IT. IF OWNERS FIND IT OBJECTIONABLE IT SHOULD BE FIX. *AK
DT: THE CONTACT STATED BOTH OF THE REAR SEAT BELTS LOCATED CLOSE TO THE WINDOWS TIGHTENED WITH MOVEMENT OF THE PASSENGER. THE BUCKLE HAS TO BE DISENGAGED TO LOOSEN THE BELTS. THIS PROCESS STARTED ALL OVER AGAIN WHEN THE PASSENGER BUCKLED THE SEAT BELT. THE DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
4WD DRIVE IS INOP. THE TRANSFER CASE AUTOMATICALLY SWITCHED TO 4 LO ON THE MOVE. THE TRUCK HAS BEEN IN 5 TIMES FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER AND GM SAYS THERE IS NO FIX AT THIS TIME, TIME FRAME FOR FIX IS UNKNOWN. DEALER SAYS IT CAN NOT REPLACE ENCODER BECAUSE GM WILL NOT ALLOW PARTS TO BE INSTALLED BECAUSE IT WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 2500 MILES ON IT.
REAR WHEEL BRAKES, EXCESSIVE WEAR
REAR SEAT BELTS WILL LOCK UP FOR NO APPARENT REASON. THE BELT WILL NOT RELEASE UNLESS IT IS UNFASTENED AND RETRACTED ALL THE WAY AND THEN REFASTENED. THIS CAN HAPPEN NUMEROUS TIMES WHILE DRIVING AND I FEEL THAT THIS IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION. *JB
WHILE PRESSING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE DRIVER WOULD ALSO PRESS ON THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL CAUSING THE VEHICLE TO SURGE FOWARD. THE OWNER HAS MADE CONTACT WITH THE DEALERSHIP. *PH *TS *NLM
ON 4/1/2003,TOOK DELIVERY OF A CHEVROLET 3500 P/UP VIN:[XXX] IT HAS A SUDDEN ACCELERATION. DEALER HAS HAD VEHICLE 3 WEEKS GM HAS NO CURE, THEY WANT TO DRIVE IT AND TRY AND CAPTURE THE DATA TO FIX IT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AT 36,000 MILES FOR A SQUEALING NOISE. ALL FOUR OF THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED DUE TO RUST WHICH SEEMED TO REMEDY THE NOISE. AT 42,000 MILES THE ABS SYSTEM BEGAN TO PULSATE WHILE DRIVING 5 MPH. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE HUBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AND PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE FOR THE REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AT 56,000 THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED THROUGH WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AND HE LOST ALL BRAKING FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. CHEVROLET ADVISED THAT THEY HAVE HAD OTHER COMPLAINTS WITH RUST AND CORROSION ON OTHER MODEL YEARS BUT THE 2003 DID NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THE VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW. THE DEALER WAS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM AND STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD NO REMEDY FOR IT AT THIS TIME (2500 HD). *NLM *TT
2003 CHEVY 2500 TRUCK, 6.0 LITER ENGINE WITH STANDARD SHIFT TRANSMISSION. THE TRUCK HAS AN ELECTRONIC THROTTLE. THE THROTTLE HAS A DELAY OFF OF IDLE IN RPM AND POWER. WHEN THE TRUCK IS STOPPED AT A LIGHT ON A HILL YOU CANNOT PREVENT EXCESSIVE ROLL-BACK OR STALL BECAUSE OF THE DELAY. IF THE TRUCK IS IN A NOISY ENVIRONMENT THE PROBLEM IS EVEN WORSE BECAUSE YOU CAN NOT TELL WHAT THE ENGINE WILL DO, OR IS DOING UNLESS YOU STARE AT THE TACHOMETER. YOU CAN NOT PREDICT ENGINE RESPONSE FROM THE THROTTLE POSITION WHEN STARTING OUT FROM A DEAD STOP ON A GRADE. I HAVE OWNED 3 CARS, 2 TURCKS, BACKHOE AND FARM TRACTOR WITH A STANDARD SHIFT TRANSMISSION AND HAVE A VALID STATE OF OHIO CDL LICENSE.*JB

2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO GOES INTO "REDUCED ENGINE POWER" MODE. THE TRUCK HAS DONE THIS 3 TIMES IN THE LAST WEEK. IF IT HAPPENS WHILE TRYING TO PULL INTO TRAFFIC A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD RESULT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT TO FIX THE PROBLEM BUT THE REAL CONCERN IS TO HAVE A COMPUTER ABLE TO CONTROL THE ENGINE SPEED IS DANGEROUS. AT ANY TIME IT COULD REDUCE ENGINE POWER WITHOUT THE DRIVER HAVING ANY CONTROL.*JB

4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM DOES NOT WORK AND GM HAS NO FIX FOR IT. TRUCK HAS BEEN INOPERABLE SINCE I BOUGHT IT. THIS MEANS THAT IT WAS BROKEN AT THE FACTORY. *JB
ORIGINAL GOODYEAR TIRES HAVE NO TRACTION IN WET CONDITIONS. VEHICLE HAS HYDROPLANED SEVERAL TIMES WHILE TRAVELING CAUTIOUSLY SLOW IN WET WEATHER. *AK
TRANSMISSION HAS ROUGH STUDDER/SLIPPAGE WHEN SHIFTING FROM FIRST TO SECOND GEAR. IT DOESN'T OCCUR EVERY ACCELERATION.*AK
ERG VALVE FAILED 4-6 TIMES. STANDARD ALARM ON TRUCK TURNS ON AND OFF BY ITS SELF. DOORS LOCK AND UNLOCK BY THEMSELVES. LOSES POWER TO THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. WHEN YOU OPEN THE GLOVE BOX THE CARGO LIGHT COMES ON. *LA
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED UP A HILL, THE TRANSMISSION DECELERATED EVEN WHEN THE CONSUMER'S FOOT WAS ON THE ACCELERATOR, WHICH MADE THE VEHICLE DIFFICULT TO CONTROL. THE VEHICLE ALSO DIED ON TAKE OFF. GROMMETS ON LOWER CONTROLS RUBBED THE TORSION BARS. WHILE PUSHING ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE CONSUMER HAD TO BUILD UP RPMS BY PRESSING THE GAS. THE VEHICLE DID NOT TAKE FUEL UNTIL THE RMPS BUILT UP WHEN CLIMBING HILLS. *JB *CB *JB
WHILE DRIVING THE STEERING WHEEL MADE A LOUD NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO TURN. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED. *NLM
THE TRANSFER CASE ON MY 2003 SILVERADO 3500, ON ITS OWN, SWITCHES FROM 2 WHEEL DRIVE TO LOW RANGE 4 WHEEL DRIVE WHILE AT SPEED. THE DEALER ADVISES THAT GM HAS NO "FIX" FOR THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM AND, INSTEAD, HAS HAD ME REMOVE THE FUSE TO THE "ON-THE-FLY" 4 WHEEL DRIVE. THIS LEAVES ME WITH A 2 WHEEL DRIVE VEHICLE ONLY. THE PROBLEM IS CONSTANT ONCE IT STARTS. AT 35 TO 45 MPH, CONTROL IS DIFFICULT WHEN YOU ARE SURPRISED BY THIS DRASTIC SHIFT TO LOW RANGE 4X4. MY BROTHER AND I BOUGHT TWO IDENTICLE VEHICLES IN DECEMBER 2002 AND HIS IS DOING THE SAME THING. GM AND THE DEALER HAVE BEEN OF ABSOLUTELY NO ASSISTANCE AT ALL. THE PROBLEM CONTINUES AND HAS VERY SERIOUS POTENTIAL.
TL* - THE CONTACT OWNS A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE SPEEDOMETER DOES NOT RECORD THE CORRECT SPEED. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED TWO WEEKS AGO KNOWING THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS NOT WORKING. THE MECHANIC, WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED, DID NOT KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE SPEEDOMETER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO A CHEVROLET DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE BOTH 115,000. *AK
I PURCHASED A 2003 CHEVY SILVERADO Z-71 FOR MY JOB WHICH REQUIRES MANY MILES. THE RIGHT REAR INSIDE BRAKE PAD WEARS FASTER THAN ANY OF THE OTHERS. I HAD TO REPLACE IT BEFORE 30,000 MILES OR IT WOULD COST ME A NEW ROTOR. IT IS MY UNDERSTANDING THAT THIS IS A RECURRING PROBLEM ON ALL FULL SIZE TRUCKS. *LA

THE AUTO TRANSMISSION DECODER HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED TWICE IN LESS THAN 2,000 MILES ON A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO DURAMAX.
DRIVETRAIN NOISE; RANGING FROM CLUNK TO METALLIC CLANK; PROBLEM HAS EXISTED SINCE NEW. 1-2 UPSHIFT CAUSES CLUNK AT DRIVER SIDE FRONT. (4 WHEEL DRIVE MODEL) AND CLANK IAT DIFFERENTIAL. SITUATIONS WITH VERY LIGHT THROTTLE (1-2 SHIFT) RESULT AT TIMES WITH IMPACT/CLANK (W/ VERY AUDIBLE METALLIC SOUND);SUFFICIENT TO "SHUDDER" VEHICLE. SHIFTING IN 4W LOW (MANUFCTURER INSTRUCTIONS) ALSO RESULTS IN CLANK/SHUDDER; NOT UNLIKE BEING STRUCK BY A HAMMER. SLOWING DOWN/RELASING THROTTLE TO NEGOTIATE 90 DEG. TURNS; THROTTLE GOES "DEAD" - NO RESPONSE - THEN RESPONDS ABRUPLY. ON 2 OCCASIONS NOW-WET CONDITIONS-REAR END (3.73 LIMITED SLIP), THIS HAS RESULTED IN REAR END DRIFTING. MY CONCERN IS SNOW/ICE CONDITIONS. I VIEW THIS AS A LEGITIMATE SAFTEY ISSUE. DEALER HAS LOOKED AT THIS 3 TIMES AND FOUND NOTHING WRONG; CLAIMING ALL FUNCTIONS ARE NORMAL. THE LAST TIME I HAD IT SERVICED, THEIR REPORT NOTED THAT THE SYMPTOMS COULD NOT DUPLICATED; YET THE ODOMETER READING INDICATED LESS THAN .2 MILES DRIVEN. ROCKENBACH CHEVROLET IN GRAYSLAKE ILLINOIS. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I GET A LAWYER.
THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONED, AND THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE LOW, NO MATTER WHAT THE CONSUMER ATTEMPTED, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO DISENGAGE. MR *TS THE CONSUMER WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THE PROBLEM. *JB
TRANSFER CASE/DIFFERENTIAL,SERVICE 4X4 LIGHTS KEEP COMING ON, BRAKES, SHOCKS, BUMPER PAD FALLING OFF, TRANSMISSION CLUNKING NOISE, WOULD NOT START. GOES INTO FOUR WHEEL DRIVE ON ITS ON. VERY DANGEROUS WHEN THIS HAPPENS. WAS TOLD BY GM THAT THERE WAS NO FIX. DEALER HAS PUT SEVERAL PARTS ON INCLUDING REPROGRAMMED MODULE IN TRANSFER CASE, REPLACED DIFFERENTIAL CASE AND GEAR KIT, BRAKE PEDAL WOULD GO TO THE FLOOR, DEALER REPLACED LEFT FRONT SHOCK BECAUSE OF LEAKING FLUID ONTO ROTOR, CLUNKING NOISE FROM FORWARD TO REVERSE WAS TOLD THIS WAS NORMAL, ENGINE CRANKS BUT DOES NOT START, TOWED IN, DEALER REPLACED BODY CONTROL MODULE. THIS TRUCK HAS LESS THAN 9,000 MILES ON IT. THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEM ( TRANSFER CASE) THE DEALER IS JUST GUESSING THAT THEY HAVE FIXED THE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD THAT MY TRUCK WAS A TESTER TO SEE IF THEY COULD FIX THE TRANSFER CASE PROBLEM. WHAT COULD GO WRONG NEXT! *NLM
WHEN TAKING OFF FROM A STOP TRANSMISSION SLIPS, CAUSING VEHICLE TO FAIL TO MOVE, THEN ENGAGES WHEN RPMS IS HIGH CAUSING VEHICLE TO JERK INTO GEAR. CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING INTO A INTERSECTION AND VEHICLE FAILS TO MOVE. I HAVE ALMOST WRECKED SEVERAL TIMES BECAUSE OF THE DELAY. VEHICLE FIRE-SHUT TRUCK OFF AND WAS GOING INTO MY HOME WHEN I HEARD A POP NOISE TURNED AND LOOKED AND THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT OF MY 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WAS SMOKING AND FLAMES WERE SHOOTING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD.TRUCK WAS TOTALLY ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITH IN MINUTES. TS
I OWN A 2003 CHEVROLET SILVERADO EXTENDED CAB SHORT BOX Z71 4X4 PICK UP TRUCK. IT HAS THE 4 SPEED AUTOMATIC WITH OVERDRIVE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A CONSISTANT SHIFTING DRIVELINE CLUNK THAT ONLY OCCURS WHEN THE TRANSMISSION UPSHIFTS FROM 2ND TO 3RD GEAR AND THEN DOWNSHIFTS FROM 3RD TO 2ND GEAR. I HAVE HAD THIS VEHICLE BACK TO THE CHEVROLET DEALER THREE TIMES SO FAR CONCERNING THIS ISSUE. ALL I GET IS THE USUAL GM RUNAROUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS A NORMAL CONDITION AND NO REPAIRS SHOULD BE ATTEMPTED ACCORDING TO THE TSB RELATED TO THIS CONDITION. I HAVE OWNED OTHER GM VEHICLES IN THE PAST, AND I HAVE NEVER HAD OF ANY OF THEM BANG OR CLUNK FROM THE TRANSMISSION WHEN SHIFTING GEARS AUTOMATICALLY. THEY CLAIM THAT IT IS SOME TYPE OF A MOMENTARY TORQUE REVERSAL PROBLEM WHEN THAT PARTICULAR SHIFT OCCURS THAT CAUSES THE CLUNKING AND OR BANGING CONDITION IN THEIR TRANSMISSION. A MOMENTARY TORQUE REVERSAL IN THEIR DRIVETRAIN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS MOVING IN FORWARD GEARS IS A NORMAL CONDITION? NOT TO ME. THEY ABSOLUTELY WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM UNDER WARRANTY STATING THAT IT IS A NORMAL CONDITION. ON THE OTHER HAND, IF THIS CAUSES THE TRANSMISSION TO SUDDENLY LOCK UP...AND SOMEONE GETS HURT IN THE PROCESS....THEN I'M SURE THAT IT WILL BE FIXED PROPERLY. WHY IS IT THAT THE AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURERS TODAY WILL NOT REPAIR THEIR ENGINEERED SCREWUPS AT THEIR EXPENSE, LIKE THEY SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE TO DO? WHY IS IT THAT THEY WILL NOT FIX THEIR PROBLEMS UNLESS THAT COMPONET IN QUESTION FAILS COMPLETELY?
