TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. HE HAD TO INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE WHEN BRAKING. WHILE DRIVING HE ALSO EXPERIENCED A LOSS OF POWER STEERING. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION HE NOTICED THAT THE HYDRO-BOOSTER PUMP LEAKED BRAKE AND STEERING FLUID. HE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER IN REFERENCE TO RECALL# 05V043000 (SERVICE BRAKES). A REPRESENTATIVE STATED THAT SINCE HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL, HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY $1,000.00 FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS UNAVAILABLE. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 180,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN SEPTEMBER 2009, HE NOTICED A WHINING NOISE WHEN MAKING A LEFT TURN. THE FAILURE PROGRESSED AND BECAME A RATTLING NOISE. IN JANUARY 2010, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS NO POWER STEERING AT ALL WHEN MAKING LEFT TURNS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 40,016.
MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO HAS A FRONT END CLUCKING NOISE, THEY ALL HAVE IT, AT LOW SPEEDS. THEY REPACKED THE STEERING COLUMN ONCE ALREADY AND THE PROBLEM IS BACK AGAIN. *TR
STEERING COLUMN IS FAULTY IN TWO OF MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADOS. HAD IT REPAIRED BY GM BUT IT KEEPS MESSING UP AND CAUSING VIBRATIONS, CLUNKING AND ALTERING THE STEERING . ALSO BOTH OF MY TRUCKS THE SPEEDOMETER HAS COMPLETELY QUIT WORKING AT 40,000 MILES. HOW SAFE IS THIS????? PLEASE PLEASE DO A RECALL ON THESE TWO ITEMS. *TR
GM PICK UP TRUCKS HAVE WHAT IN MY OPINION IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH INSTRUMENT CLUSTERS FAILING. ONE CAN BE CRUISING ALONG AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THE SPEEDOMETER GOES CRAZY. MINE REGISTERS 120 MPH AT ALL TIMES. IT PUTS ONE IN UNKNOWN TERRITORY WHEN IN HEAVY TRAFFIC NOT TO MENTION NOT KNOWING WHEN ONE IS SPEEDING. FURTHER ONE DOES NOT HOW MUCH FUEL THEY HAVE OR IF THEIR VEHICLE IS OVERHEATING. GM SENT LETTERS TO OWNERS OF THESE VEHICLES INDICATING THAT THEY WOULD REPLACE THE CLUSTER IF IT WENT BAD BEFORE 72000 MILES.THEY KNOW THAT ANY OR ALL OF THE CLUSTERS ARE PRONE TO FAILURE AND GM SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND CORRECT THIS PROBLEM AT NO COST TO THE OWNER.THE LOCAL GM DEALER TELLS ME THAT IT IS ABOUT A $300. FIX.GM SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO GET AWAY WITH SELLING VEHICLES WITH SUCH POTENTIAL SAFETY ISSUES. *TR
I OWN A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AND HAVE A PULSATING ACTION IN MY ABS BRAKES WHEN COMING TO STOPS AT SLOW SPEEDS. I HAVE ALREADY REPLACED ALL FOUR BRAKES AND ROTORS AND IT DID NOT CHANGE THE PROBLEM. I ONLY HAVE 50,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. I LIVE IN PENNSYLVANIA AND SAW ON THE INTERNET THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON SOME VEHICLES A LITTLE OLDER THAN MINE BUT NOT MY YEAR OF VEHICLE. I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS ALL OF THESE OTHER PEOPLE. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. *TR
DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE WENT TO 5 MPH, THEN TO 0. LATER IN THE SAME TRIP, WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL AT 60, (VERIFIED BY GPS), SPEEDOMETER SHOWED SPEEDS FROM 50 DOWN TO 8MPH. NO WARNING BEFORE FAILURE, EXCEPT FOR A BARELY NOTICEABLE TREMOR OR LACK OF SMOOTHNESS IN THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. THE TRUCK HAS ONLY 36000 MILES ON IT. ON NEXT DRIVE, SPEEDOMETER WAS OK FOR THE 20 MINUTES. THE DRIVE AFTER, RANDOM SPEEDS FROM STARTUP. NO CORRECTIVE WORK DONE YET, BUT IT SEEMS THAT THE SERVO MOTOR DRIVING THE SPEEDOMETER, OR THE ENTIRE GAUGE CLUSTER HAS TO BE REPLACED. *TR
MY 2004 CHEVY ENVOY HAS A CRACK IN THE NECK OF THE FUEL TANK. THE SERVICE ENGINE SOON LIGHT WAS ON LAST YEAR AND I TOOK IT TO THOMAS CHEVROLET IN WEST CHESTER, PA WHO REPLACED THE GAS CAP. THE LIGHT CAME BACK ON AND I OUT OF FRUSTRATION I WAITED UNTIL MY INSPECTION CHECK TO HAVE IT REPAIRED. UPON TAKING IT TO A LOCAL MECHANIC RECENTLY THEY REPLACED A SOLENOID WHICH MADE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT GO OFF. HOWEVER WITHIN A WEEK IT CAME BACK ON. TODAY I WAS TOLD OF THE PROBLEM WITH THE CRACK IN THE FUEL TANK AFTER THEY PERFORMED MORE DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. THIS SEEMS LIKE IT COULD BE A PROBLEM FROM THE MANUFACTURER (GM) AND ALSO POSES A SAFETY ISSUE. FUEL CAN BE SMELLED WHEN STANDING OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK THIS COULD POSE IF THIS IS A PROBLEM NOTED IN OTHER VEHICLES. MY ON-LINE RESEARCH INDICATES THE CHEVY TRAILBLAZER HAD ISSUES WITH FUEL TANK CRACKS. I DON'T KNOW WHAT I COULD HAVE DONE TO PREVENT THIS PROBLEM OR EVEN CAUSE IT, THEREFORE I WOULD EXPECT THE DEALERSHIP WOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING AT 45 MPH HE FELT A PULSATING SENSATION AND ALL OF A SUDDEN HE BEGAN TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE VEHICLE STOPPED BUT FELT AS IF IT DID NOT COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. HE THEN PULLED OVER AND COULD NOT LOCATE THE FAILURE . THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATES THERE WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER STATED THEY WILL NOT REPAIR THE FAILURE DUE TO NO WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATES THE VEHICLE HAD 23,000 MILES AND THE BRAKE IN THE REAR ROTTED OUT INCLUDING THE ROTORS. THE BRAKE PADS SLID OUT FROM THE ROTORS. A TECHNICIAN THAT LOCATED THE FAILURE STATED THAT THE BRAKES SHOULD HAVE NOT GONE OUT AT 23,000 MILES. THE CONTACT PAID TO HAVE THE VEHICLE REPAIR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,150 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 23,200. UPDATED 10/23/09 *BF THE ROTORS WERE PITTED AND A PIECE OF THE ROTOR WAS MISSING. UPDATED 10/26/09*JB

THE GAUGE CLUST GO NUTS I WILL BE DOING 40 MILES PER HOUR THEN I LOOK AT MY SEED AND IT SAYS 120 AND GETS STUCK AND NO ONE WANTS FIX IT BECAUSE THERE MAY BE A RECALL ON IT SO WHERE IS THAT RECALL OR IS IT THAT IT HAS TO CAUSE SOMEONE'S LIFE OVER IT BEFORE SOMETHING IS DONE ABOUT IT!!! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO DIESEL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE WOULD OVERHEAT. THE FAILURE WOULD ONLY OCCUR WHEN TRAVELING ON FLAT ROAD SURFACES, UPHILL OR WHEN PULLING A TRAILER. THE CONTACT WOULD SHUT OFF THE ENGINE UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS COOLED IN ORDER TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE ANY FURTHER. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED IF HE WOULD DRIVE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING HOT, IT WOULD STALL. THE DEALER ADVISED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER RECALL AND REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE EXPENSE OF THE OWNER. THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 143,000. DOOR LATCH/OPENER DOES NOT RETURN TO POSITION AND AS A RESULT DOOR WILL OPEN UNEXPECTEDLY. ALSO TAILGATE LATCH DOES NOT LATCH, TAKES NUMEROUS TIME BEFORE IT CATCHES WHEN TRYING TO CLOSE. *TR
WHEN BRAKING AT 3-5 MPH THE BRAKES PULSE LIKE THE ANTILOCKS ARE COMING ON BUT THE LIGHT FOR ANTILOCK OR LOW TRACTION DID NOT COME ON. THIS WAS HAPPENING ALMOST ALL THE TIME. BOTH THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 38,000 MILES! *TR
BOLTS SHEARED ON THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD. *TR
I WAS EXITING FREEWAY AND APPLIED BRAKES TO SLOW DOWN. PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. LUCKILY I GOT SLOWED ENOUGHTOSTOP. CALLED DEALER AND HAD VEHICLE TOWED. THEY REPLACED TWO BRAKE LINES FROM MASTER CYLINDER PROP. VALVE TOBRAKE PRESSURE MOD. VALVE. BAD DESIGN ON THIS VEHICHLE. REPLACEMENT PARTS WERE UDATED WITHOUT THIS DESIGN. I ASK ABOUT THIS AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY DID AWAY WITH THE ORIGINAL DESIGN. 30,000 DOLLARS ROLLING DOWN THE ROAD LOOKING FOR AN ACCIDENT. THEY WEREN'T INTERESTED IN MY SAFETY OR CORRECTING THE PROBLEM AT THERE COST, BUT WERE GLAD TO RELIEVE ME OF 536.00. THANK YOU *TR
WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE ABS SYSTEM FAILS. I RESEARCHED AND I FOUND A RECALL UP TO 2003 MODEL FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK IT WAS CORRECTED IN THE 2004 MODEL. DISCONNECTED THE FUSE TO STOP THE PROBLEM BUT IT NOW IS AN ISSUE BECAUSE I'M TRYING TO SELL THE VEHICLE AND THE ABS LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME. THEY WANT $900 TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD ALWAYS INDICATE THAT THE SPEED WAS 55 MPH FASTER THAN WHAT THE VEHICLE WAS ACTUALLY TRAVELING. I BOUGHT A NEW 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CREW CAB. SINCE BUYING THIS TRUCK, I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT TROUBLE WITH THE STEERING LOCKING UP. IT IS NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN LEFT UNDER 15 MPH. I HAVE TAKEN THE TRUCK TO DIFFERENT DEALERS AND GOTTEN DIFFERENT ANSWERS EVERY TIME. THE ONLY THING THE MECHANICS AGREE ON IS THAT CHEVY KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM BUT IS UNSURE HOW TO FIX IT. MY PRIMARY CONCERN IS THE STEERING IS LOCKING UP EVERY TIME YOU TURN LEFT. CURRENTLY, IT IS ONLY HAPPENING AT LOW SPEEDS, BUT I'M WORRIED IT WILL BEGIN TO HAPPEN AT FASTER SPEEDS. I USE THIS TRUCK AS MY PRIMARY VEHICLE PLUS I HAVE THREE YOUNG CHILDREN WHO ARE ALWAYS WITH ME. THIS TRUCK IS ALSO USED TO HAUL OUR BOAT. *TR
ON 7/7/09, DRIVING SLOWLY DOWN DRIVEWAY, BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR AND HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP VEHICLE AFTER BOUNCING OVER CURB. TOOK THE CAR TO JEFF BARNES CHEVROLET AND THEY REPLACED BRAKE LINE THAT WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH. ON 6/26/12, DRIVING ON A RURAL ROAD, BRAKES WENT OUT UNEXPECTEDLY. AGAIN, USED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP VEHICLE. DROVE TO NEARBY MERCHANTS TIRE AND THEY REPLACED 20 FOOT OF BRAKE LINE AND COUPLINGS THAT HAD RUSTED THROUGH LEAKING ALL BRAKE FLUID. *TR
INITALLY, THE SPEEDOMETER GRADUALLY STARTED DISPLAYING INCORRECT SPEEDS WITHOUT ALERTING ME TO A FAILURE IN THE SYSTEM. THERE WERE NO SIGNIFICANT ENOUGH CHANGES IN BEHAVIOR AT AROUND 95,000 - 100,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER TO CAUSE ME TO NOTICE THE PROBLEM. IT WASN'T UNTIL ONE DAY WHILE I WAS GOING MUCH FASTER THAN THE SLOWER LANE TRAFFIC ON THE HIGHWAY THAT I NOTICED A SERIOUS DEVIATION IN THE READING ( I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT WHILE STARTING TO DRIVE MUCH FASTER THAN REGULAR TRAFFIC FLOW WHILE THE SPEEDOMETER KEPT GRADUALLY DROPPING ANY TIME I SLOWED EVEN SLIGHTLY UNTIL IT REGISTERED AROUND 40 MPH WHEN I WAS PASSING MIDDLE-LANE TRAFIIC IN A 65 MPH ZONE). I STICK PRETTY CLOSE TO THE SPEED LIMITS AND OBSERVE RECOMMENDED SPEEDS (E.G. YELLOW SIGNS ON CURVED HIGHWAY) ESPECIALLY WHILE TOWING TRAILERS. HAD THIS HAPPENED TO SOMEONE ELSE WHILE PULLING A TRAILER AROUND THE MOUNTAINS OF COLORADO AND WYOMING, THERE COULD'VE BEEN A SERIOUS INJURY/DEATH LEVEL ACCIDENT. I DIDN'T SEE A RECALL ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR SPEEDOMETER USING THIS SITES DATABASE SEARCH. *TR
POWER STEERING LOCKS UP IN RIGHT TURNS AND BACKING. ELECTRICAL,IE. SPEEDOMETER, HEATER BLOWER FAN SWITCH, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE SELECTOR CHANGES FROM 2 WHEEL HIGH TO AUTOMATIC FOUR WHEEL DRIVE BY IT SELF. *TR
STEERING SHAFT NOISE AND VIBRATION ON 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO THERE IS A CLUNKING AND VIBRATION IN THE STEERING WHEN TURNING AT LOWER SPEEDS. ALL FRONT END COMPONENTS WERE VERIFIED TO BE IN GOOD CONDITION WITH NO PLAY. CLUNKING IS BELIEVED TO BE COMING FROM THE STEERING COLUMN. STEERING FEELS AS THOUGH IT MAY FAIL, RESULTING IN SIGNIFICANT SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
SPEEDOMETER WENT CRAZY. SAID I WAS GOING 120MPH WHEN I WAS GOING 60. COME TO FIND OUT, THERE ARE MANY OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS, ALONG WITH FAILURE OF THE OTHER INSTRUMENTS IN THE CLUSTER AS WELL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY WHEN MAKING A TURN, THE POWER STEERING FAILS AND THE BRAKE PEDAL STIFFENS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AND THEY REPLACED THE HYDRAULIC BOOSTER WITH GM PARTS. THE POWER STEERING PUMP WAS ALSO REPLACED, AS WELL AS BOTH HYDRAULIC LINES; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE CONTINUED. GM RECOMMENDED THAT THE POWER STEERING BOX BE REPLACED, IN WHICH THE CONTACT COMPLIED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AND THE CONTACT FILED A COMPLAINT WITH THE MANUFACTURER (REFERENCE NUMBER 71-742385439). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000. UPDATED 9/23/09 *CN THE HOSES, PUMP AND HYDRO BOOST WERE REPLACED. UPDATED 09/28/09. *JB
'04 CHEVROLET K1500 - THROTTLE BODY SENSOR THE ISSUE IS THAT THE TRUCK KEEPS COMING IN AND OUT OF "REDUCED POWER MODE" WHICH WHEN IT IS IN THIS MODE IT IS VERY HARD TO MAINTAIN SPEED WHICH IN TURN IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS. IN '07 I HAD THE CONNECTIONS CLEANED AND REPAIRED (UNDER WARRANTY), ON JULY 7TH OF '08 I HAD THE WHOLE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR REPLACED (OUT OF WARRANTY), AND IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN ON JUNE 25TH OF THIS YEAR. I QUALIFIED FOR THE 12 MONTH REPAIR WARRANTY, BUT HAD DRIVEN OVER 12,000 MILES. OUT OF THE BLUE MY TRUCK GOES INTO REDUCED POWER MODE. I PULL OVER AND BASICALLY RESTART THE TRUCK A FEW TIMES AND APPARENTLY THE COMPUTER RESETS AND EXITS THE MODE. THIS WORKED FOR THE FIRST WEEK BUT NOW IT HAS TO SIT OVERNIGHT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR A DAY OR SO, BUT THEN WILL CLEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THREE DEALERSHIPS FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND NO ONE CAN PUT THEIR FINGER ON THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM. THE MOST CURRENT ONE HAS TOLD ME HE COULD REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY SENSOR, BUT CAN'T GUARANTEE THAT WILL FIX IT. HE HAS THREE MORE '04 CHEVYS COMING IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. WHAT THEY HAVE BEEN ABLE TO TELL ME IS SHOWN BELOW, BUT STILL HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO FIX IT. "SCAN REVEALED 2 P2135- THROTTLE POSITION SENSORS 1-2 CORRELATION. " USING YOUR SITE I HAVE FOUND THE FOLLOWING SERVICE BULLETIN: 060604026 (NHTSA ITEM NUMBER : 10020835). I DON'T MIND SPENDING THE MONEY FOR THE REPAIR, I JUST NEED TO KNOW WHAT I NEED FIXED. I'M WORRIED ABOUT PULLING ONTO THE HIGHWAY AND THEN LOOSING POWER AND CAUSING A WRECK. *TR
FIRST MY BRAND NEW 2004 SILVERADO'S DRIVE SHAFT FLEW OUT ON THE FREEWAY AT 15,000 MI. THAT WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY. THEN AT ABOUT 28,000 MI. MY REAR END GEARS WERE MAKING WHINING NOISES EVER SINCE THE DRIVE SHAFT FLEW OUT AND I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES BEFORE THEY FINALLY TORE IT APART AND REALIZED THE GEARS WERE DAMAGED AND THEY REPLACED THAT UNDER WARRANTY. THEN AT 65,000 MI. ON MY TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION WAS SLIPPING REALLY BAD SO I BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FOUND THAT A FEW GEARS WERE BURNED UP SO GM AND I SPLIT THAT BILL 50/50 TO REBUILD THE TRANSMISSION. NOW I FIND MYSELF IN THE SAME SITUATION AT 85,000 MI. ON MY TRUCK THE TRANSMISSION IT BROKEN AGAIN AND WONT EVEN WORK. THE TRUCK IS AT THE DEALER AND GM AND THE DEALERSHIP DON'T WANT TO WARRANTY ANYTHING ON IT AND WANT TO OFFER ME $2000.00 CASH BACK TO BUY A GM CAR WHICH AT THIS POINT I'VE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH. CAR IS AT THE DEALERSHIP NOW AND IM WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM GM. THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME MY TRUCK HAS BROKEN IN THE DRIVETRAIN AREA SINCE NEW. *TR
ABS ACTIVATION UPON LOW SPEED STOP ON DRY PAVEMENT. *TR
I HAVE A 2004 SILVERADO Z71 WHICH HAS A CLUNKING NOISE WHICH ALSO CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING.. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE TRUCK FROM TO ASK IF THEY COULD FIX THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THIS IS A KNOWN, BY GENERAL MOTORS, PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE, BUT THEY WOULD NOT FIX IT, BECAUSE I WAS NOT A "LOYAL" CUSTOMER. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET 1500 TRUCK 4WD. THE CONTACT STATED THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO OPERATE ON THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK HIS VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY DID SOMETHING TO FIX THE MODULE AT A COST OF 450.OO DOLLARS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR A WHILE BUT NOW THE FAILURE IS OCCURRING AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE 65,000 MILES AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 70,000.

THIS IS HOW IT STARTED.. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 HD. AS I DROVE DOWN THE ROAD THE DOORS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK ON THEIR OWN, AND THE TRUCK WOULD LOSE RPM'S AND WOULD ACT AS IF THE TRUCK SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED ITSELF. ALSO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BLINK WITH THE LOCKING AND UNLOCKING OF THE DOORS. DID THIS OFF AND ON A FEW TIMES AS WE BABIED IT HOME. GOT IT HOME IN THE DRIVEWAY AND IT THREW 2 CODES CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR HIGH VOLTS AND LOW VOLTS. SO WE REPLACED THE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. TRUCK DROVE FINE FOR 4 DAYS. HOWEVER ON THE 5TH DAY WE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE TRUCK AND AS WE WERE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD THIS TIME THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON AND DOORS STARTED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING AGAIN ON THEIR OWN AS WELL AS THE DIC READ SERVICE BRAKE SYSTEM AND THE TRUCK COMPLETELY DIED IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC, WE WERE ABLE TO PULL OVER INTO A PARKING LOT AND TRUCK RESTARTED LONG ENOUGH TO GET HOME. AT THIS POINT THE GM DEALER WASN'T SURE OF THIS PROBLEM AND WHAT CAUSES IT BUT STATED TO UNPLUG THE BATTERY AND RESET THE COMPUTER(AFTER SPEAKING TO 4 DIFFERENT GM DEALERS MIND YOU). WOW LOW AND BEHOLD FIXED THE PROBLEM FOR ABOUT 45 MINUTES, AS WE AGAIN TRIED TO SEE HOW FAR WE COULD MAKE IT BEFORE IT STARTED ACTING UP AGAIN. ONLY THIS TIME DOORS WOULD LOCK AND UNLOCK AND ALL KINDS OF WEIRD THINGS WERE GOING ON, FOR EXAMPLE DOORS LOCKING AND UNLOCKING, TRUCK STALLING AND RESTARTING, IDOL WAS RUFF AND NOISY, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON, AND THE DIC READ THIS TIME REDUCED ENGINE POWER!! AND AT THIS POINT WE WERE ONLY ABLE TO GO 15 MILES AN HOUR AND THANKFULLY WE WERE ON A ROAD WITH NO TRAFFIC AND WERE ABOUT 2 MILES FROM OUR HOME. ALSO IN THE MIST OF ALL OF THIS THE TRUCK WAS CHIMING AND THE TRUCK THOUGHT IT DIDN'T HAVE ANY BRAKES AT THIS POINT THANKFULLY WE WERE ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. WE HAVE HAD THIS TRUCK FOR LESS THAN 1 YR AND IT ONLY HAS 82,000 ON IT AND NOONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO TELL US WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT. *TR
TRUCK LOST ABILITY TO STOP EFFECTIVELY. TRUCK WAS TAKEN TO LOCAL REPAIR SHOP, WHERE MECHANIC FOUND BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED BECAUSE OF CORROSION. BRAKE LINES WERE REPLACED. *TR
SPEEDOMETERS ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AND MY 2004 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER ARE DEFECTIVE. THE SILVERADO DOES NOT REGISTER THE CORRECT SPEED AND THE TRAILBLAZER DOES NOT REGISTER AT ALL. BOTH VEHICLES HAVE OVER 70,000 MILES AND GM REFUSES TO FIX THEM. THE SPEEDOMETER IS A SAFETY APPLIANCE AND SHOULD BE WORKING CORRECTLY, NO MATTER WHAT THE MILEAGE OF A VEHICLE. HELLO, I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 4X4 EXTENDED CAB. I STARTED TO NOTICE THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WERE ACTING UNUSUAL. BETWEEN 10 MPH AND 7 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WILL ACT LIKE THEY WERE ON WET PAVEMENT OR ICY PAVEMENT, PULSATING UNTIL I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE 62,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED AND LOOKS LIKE THE DAY IT CAME FROM THE DEALER. THE DRIVER'S SIDE AC RANDOMLY STARTS BLOWING HOT AIR WHILE WE ARE DRIVING ALONG IN OUR 2004 SILVERADO WHICH STARTED ABOUT 2 YEARS AGO AT ABOUT 80K MILES. IN ORDER TO GET THE AC BACK, WE HAVE TO PULL OVER AND TURNOFF THE ENGINE AND THEN START IT BACK UP. SOME DAYS IT NEVER DOES IT, SOMETIMES SEVERAL TIMES AND USUALLY ON THE FREEWAY BUT SOMETIMES ON CITY STREETS TOO. THIS IS IN ADDITION TO THE SPEEDOMETER, AND OTHER INSTRUMENT PANEL ISSUES THAT HAVE HAD TO BE REPAIRED OVER THE LAST 2-3 YEARS (AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED). *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HARNESS AND RESISTOR FAN FOR THE AIR CONDITION WERE REPLACED THREE TIMES, AS IT CONTINUED TO BURN OUT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RESISTOR FAN CAUGHT ON FIRE AND SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REPAIR WAS $100 EACH TIME THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A FEE OF $89 FOR THEM TO INSPECT AND REPLACE THE PARTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.

I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 WITH 58,283 MILES ON IT. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR STATE INSPECTION AND FOUND THAT THE ROTORS ARE ALL RUSTED AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. IN CHECKING THESE AT THE DEALER, I DISCOVERED THAT THE STEEL HAS A LOT OF CARBON IN IT. THE MANUFACTURER IS USING AN INFERIOR PRODUCT FOR THESE ROTORS. IN CHECKING THE ON LINE, I DISCOVERED THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE NORMAL FOR GENERAL MOTORS, THAT THEY ARE AWARE OF IT AND IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE 100 MILES OR MORE THIS IS HAPPENING TO THESE VEHICLES. GENERAL MOTORS IS USING INFERIOR MATERIALS. *TR

AT JUST OVER 50,000 MILES I HAD TO HAVE ALL FOUR ROTORS AND PADS REPLACE BECAUSE THE ROTORS WERE RUSTING BECAUSE OF BAD METAL(RUSTING FROM THE INSIDE OUT AND PITTING), AND NOW AT 79000 I AM GETTING A SHAKING AND VIBRATING (PROBABLY FROM THE ABS) AT LOW SPEEDS. *TR
I AM EXPERIENCING ISSUES OF SERIOUS ROT AND RUST WITH COMPONENTS OF MY TRUCK. FIRST FAILURE WAS THAT MY POWER STEERING PUMP RESERVOIR ROTTED THROUGH AND CAUSED A LEAK OF FLUID, HAD TO REPLACE UNIT. THEN TRANSMISSION LINE ROTTED THROUGH, CAUSING A LEAK OF FLUIDS, HAD TO REPLACE LINES AND COOLER DUE TO CORROSION. THEN STARTER FAILED, SERIOUSLY CORRODED. HAD TO REPLACE. AFTERWARD, ALTERNATOR FROZE UP, INSIDE WAS CORRODED WITH RUST AND WOULD NOT SPIN FREELY, HAD TO REPLACE. MOST RECENTLY, BRAKE LINES BURST CAUSING COMPLETE LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY. WILL NEED TO REPLACE. I HAVE OWNED A SUBSTANTIAL NUMBER OF VEHICLES OVER THE YEARS AND THIS IS COMPLETELY UNUSUAL IN MY EXPERIENCE AND HAS CAUSED A SITUATION THAT COULD LEAD TO DEATH OR SERIOUS INJURY. I WAS FORTUNATE TO ESCAPE BOTH. FURTHERMORE, IT HAS BEEN A SERIOUS FINANCIAL BURDEN AND INCONVENIENCE TO HAVE TO REPLACE SO MANY COMPONENTS ON A TRUCK THAT HAS YET TO REACH 60,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THIS TRUCK NEW AND HAVE TAKEN VERY GOOD CARE OF IT IN HOPES THAT MY 30,000 INVESTMENT WOULD LAST ME A GOOD NUMBER OF YEARS WITH REGULAR AND EXPECTED MAINTENANCE. *TR
