WHILE TRAVELING, MY SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO WOULD NOT READ AN ACCURATE MILEAGE, FOR EXAMPLE WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD BE IN EXCESS OF 100 MPH, THUS CAUSING A SAFETY ISSUE, DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DO NOT KNOW THE EXACT SPEED OF MY VEHICLE, AND CAN ONLY JUDGE THAT MY VEHICLE IS TRAVELING THE CORRECT SPEED BY PACING OTHER VEHICLES ON THE HIGHWAY. IN FACT I WAS PULLED OVER FOR SPEEDING, AND WHEN ASKED HOW FAST I WAS GOING, I SHOWED THE POLICE OFFICER THAT MY SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 40 MPH WHEN I WAS PARKED, WHEN IN FACT I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 10 MILES ABOVE THE SPEED LIMIT. I WENT TO THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP, AND THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE SAID THAT HE HAS HAD TO REPLACE A COUPLE OF THESES, AND WITH PARTS AND LABOR WOULD BE APPROXIMATELY $700. MY WARRANTY EXPIRED JUST 700 MILES PRIOR TO THIS DEFECT STARTING. I WAS ABOUT TO PAY TO GET THIS REPAIRED, WHEN I DECIDED TO DO RESEARCH ONLINE TO SEE IF THIS WAS A PROBLEM WITH OTHER SILVERADOS, AND COME TO FIND OUT, THERE ARE MANY CASES LIKE MINE. I FEEL DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE ARE SO MANY CASES LIKE THIS, THAT IT SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A DEFECT, AND BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. *NM
SPEEDOMETER LOCKS AT TIMES, UNPREDICTABLE. HIGH LOW, AT ZERO. POSES PROBLEMS CONTROLLING THIS 2.5 TON TRUCK. *NM
SPEEDOMETER WAS ERRATIC AND WOULD NOT INDICATE CORRECT SPEED IN TRAFFIC. SPEEDOMETER NOW READS 120 MPH, EVEN WHILE PARKED. UNABLE TO DETERMINE CORRECT SPEED WHILE DRIVING. HAVE BEEN ADVISED REPAIR IS OVER $500.00 TO REPLACE KNOWN DEFECTIVE PART. PROBLEM BEGAN AT 62,000 MILES.*JB
2004 SILVERADO TRUCK SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTIONED. *JB
TL*- THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE OWNS A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. HE STATED THAT ON 01/13/06 WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH ON A CLEAR DAY HIS SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO ZERO FOR ABOUT 200 MILES WITH AN ODOMETER READING OF 54,200 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT LATER THAT EVENING HE STARTED HIS VEHICLE AND THE SPEEDOMETER WENT TO 95 MPH AND WAS STUCK THERE FOR ABOUT 400 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER IS NOW STUCK ON 85 MPH. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD HE NEEDED TO HAVE THE SPEEDOMETER CLUSTER REPLACED AT A COST OF $500.00. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE FEELS THIS VEHICLE IS TOO NEW TO HAVE THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM. *JB
SPEEDOMETER ON MY 2004 GM CHEVY SILVERADO READS DRASTICALLY DIFFERENT FROM ACTUAL SPEED WHILE DRIVING, MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO DETERMINE ACTUAL SPEED WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH DUE TO IMPROPER SPEED, OR TRAFFIC SAFETY VIOLATION FOR IMPROPER SPEED. GM DOES NOT HAVE RECALL ON THIS SAFETY ISSUE. GM IS AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM WITH MANY OF ITS VEHICLES AND DEMANDS $500.00 AND SEVERAL DAYS TO REPAIR. THEY WILL NOT REPLACE PARTS, ONLY SEND IT OUT FOR REPAIR AT OWNER'S EXPENSE. *NM
REAR DISC BRAKING SYSTEM ON 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO WITH 41K MILES SUFFERS FROM EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON ROTOR EDGES, CAUSING REDUCED BRAKE PAD CONTACT, AND LEADING TO POOR STOPPING ABILITY OVERALL. REPLACEMENT OF THESE ROTORS AND PADS IS THE ONLY ACTION THAT CAN BE TAKEN TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. *JB
SPEEDOMETER FAILURE @48000 MILES. IT WOULD WORK INTERMITTENTLY BUT MOST TIMES IT WAS TOO FAST OR TOO SLOW. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER HAD TO BE REPLACED AT THE DEALERSHIP. *NM
SPEEDOMETER FAILURE : NEEDLE PEGS AT 120 AND WILL NOT RETURN TO 0, FLUCTUATES. *JB
ERRATIC SPEED READING ON THE SPEEDOMETER OF MY CHEVY SILVERADO. *NM
WHEN DRIVING AT LOW SPEEDS THERE IS A LOUD KNOCK COMING FROM THE STEERING. THIS NOISE (KNOCK) CAN ALSO BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL. *TR
NOTED GRINDING NOISE FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED ON A FRIDAY EVENING. NOTIFIED THE DEALERSHIP ASAP ON MONDAY. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON THAT TUESDAY. THEY FOUND THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE GRINDING AND THE PADS HAD DUG INTO A REAR ROTOR. THEY INSTALLED NEW REAR ROTORS AND PADS AS WELL AS THE LEFT REAR EMERGENCY BRAKE SHOE. THERE WAS NO WARNING TO THIS FAILURE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE ANOTHER CASE OF EXCESSIVE REAR BRAKE WEAR AND PREMATURE FAILURE. CUSTOMER COST WAS $557.62 WITH VEHICLE STILL UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2WD AND DISCOVERED TODAY THAT MY SPEEDOMETER IS 15 MPH UNDER WHERE ITS SUPPOSED TO BE! I AM SEEING LOTS AND LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS WHERE IS THE RECALL FOR THIS??!! *NM
2004 CHEVY SILVERADO, BRAKES BEGAN MAKING A GRINDING SOUND AND IT BECAME MORE DIFFICULT TO STOP. CHECKED PADS AND ROTORS, ROTORS ARE RUSTED AND BADLY PITTED CAUSING AN UNUSUAL WEAR PATTERN ON PADS. VEHICLE ONLY HAS 44,000 MILES. THIS IS INDICATIVE OF FAULTY DESIGN OR FAULTY MATERIALS. MY PREVIOUS GM VEHICLES DID NOT HAVE A PROBLEM LIKE THIS. *TR

TL*- ON 08/30/06 CONTACT'S VEHICLE CHANGED FROM THE TWO-WHEEL DRIVE GEAR INTO THE NEUTRAL POSITION BY ITSELF. THE SAME DAY THE VEHICLE'S SPEEDOMETER REGISTERED ACTUAL SPEED INACCURATELY. ON 8/31/06 THE CONTACT TOOK VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP, AND THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE ICP AND THE ATC MODULE. ON 01/05/07 WHILE STARTING THE VEHICLE SHOWED THE SAME FAILURE. THE CONTACT CURRENTLY WAS NOT DRIVING THE VEHICLE. *AK THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT WAS LUBED. UPDATED 02/13/07. *JB
DEAR SIRS, MY SON IS DRIVING OUR 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP AND HE IS 16 YO. THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 50K MILES AND THE SPEEDOMETER STARTED MALFUNCTIONING LAST WEEK. IT INDICATES THE SPEED AT 20-50 MPH LESS THAN ACTUAL. I AM AWARE OF A FORUM ON TOPIX.NET THAT HAS MORE THAN 327 COMPLAINTS OF THIS VERY PROBLEM. SURELY THERE IS A SAFETY CONCERN HERE WITH THE POSSIBILITIES OF EXCESSIVE SPEED DUE TO THE INACCURACIES OF THE SPEEDOMETER! PLEASE LET ME KNOW WHAT THE STATUS OF YOUR CONCERNS REGARDING THIS ISSUE. THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING AT 40,000 MILES. IT MAKE A CLICKING SOUND AND SOMETIMES WORKS BUT THEN DROPS TO 0 MILES PER HOUR. I LOOKED ONLINE AND FOUND HUNDREDS OF OTHER PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO EXCEPT TAKE THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OUT AND SEND IT AWAY FOR A $500.00 REPAIR. GENERAL MOTORS REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM EVEN THOUGH IT IS ONLY OUT OF WARRANTY 4,000 MILES. IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IT WORKS SOMETIMES BUT IS WAY OFF UNDER THE REAL SPEED. *JB
EVENT LEADING TO FAILURE: NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS FAILURE: SPEEDOMETER FAILS TO REPORT PROPER SPEED OF VEHICLE. THE SPEEDOMETER WILL LOWER TO 35 MPH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS TRAVELING AT ANY SPEED. OTHER VARIATIONS EXIST SUCH AS THE VEHICLE TRAVELING AT 10 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS 120 MPH. MULTIPLE CHEVY 2004 SILVERADO OWNERS REPORT THE SAME FAILURE. *JB
I HAVE AN '04 CHEVY SILVERADO THAT HAS A SPEEDOMETER THAT DOES NOT WORK. IT SHOWS 15 MPH WHEN I AM AT A STOP SIGN, THAN IT MOVES UP WHEN I START TO DRIVE. HOWEVER IT JUST JUMPS AROUND AND USUALLY FALLS BACK DOWN TO 15 OR 20 MPH AFTER DRIVING A FEW MILES AND NEVER MOVES AGAIN UNTIL I RESTART THE CAR. I HAVE CONTACTED GM AND THE DEALER AND THEY REFUSE TO REPAIR IT EXCEPT AT MY COST. I FEEL THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND GM NEEDS TO RECALL IT. I AM NOT SURE HOW MANY OTHER VEHICLE YEARS THIS EFFECTS BUT I HAVE HEARD FROM NUMEROUS PEOPLE THAT IS HAS HAPPENED TO THEM IN THE '03 AND '05 GM VEHICLES. THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED SOON BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AND ACCIDENT. I HAVE NO WAY OF GAUGING MY SPEED AND I DON'T HAVE THE $700 RIGHT NOW TO GET IT REPAIRED. WHAT SHOULD I DO? *JB
AIR CONDITIONER BLOWS HOT AIR AND THEN COLD. HAVE SHUT DOWN VEHICLE AND PULL BATTERY POS. CABLE TO RESET. FOUND WEB-SITE WHERE 100S ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *TR
SPEEDOMETER IS BEHAVING ERRATICALLY. SOMETIMES IT WILL READ WITHIN 5 OR 10 MPH OF ACTUAL SPEED (SOMETIMES HIGH AND SOMETIMES LOW) AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL READ 0 OR 100+. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO UNKNOWINGLY TRAVEL BEYOND THE POSTED SPEED LIMITS AT TIMES AND IS CREATING AN UNSAFE DRIVING ENVIRONMENT. ON 12/24/06 I STARTED HAVING TROUBLE WITH STEERING AND BRAKING, ON 12/26/06 I LOST THE ABILITY TO STEER OR TO BRAKE. ON 12/28/06 I TOOK THE TRUCK TO PARKS CHEVROLET IN CHARLOTTE, NC---I WAS TOLD THAT THE TRUCK WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS I REPLACED THE BRAKE HYDRD-BOOSTER, I AGREED TO AT A COST OF $784.81. *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT PURCHASED A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO FROM CHEVROLET OF TYSON'S. THERE WAS A KNOCKING SOUND IN THE STEERING WHEEL REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED AT WHICH THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING. GM STATED THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE STEERING FAILURE, AND WERE REDESIGNING THE STEERING COLUMN, IT DILL NOT BE FINAL UNTIL FEBRUARY AFTER THE CONTACTS WARRANTY EXPIRESD,AND WAS ADVISED BY GM TO CALL NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLAINT. *AK

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER STATED THAT GM TOLD THEM THAT THIS WAS NORMAL FOR THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THIS STARTED HAPPENING THE WEEK OF 12/18/06. THE SPEEDOMETER FAILED ON MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP, WHEN I TOOK IN TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE THE SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT HE NEW WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND THAT HE HAD FIXED SEVERAL OF THE DEFECTIVE SPEEDOMETERS. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 69,000 MILES ON IT. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHEN ANOTHER FAILURE OCCURS. FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. *NM

I HAVE A 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE! THE SPEEDOMETER WORKS INTERMITTENTLY AND WHEN THE NEEDLE ACTUALLY MOVES THE SPEED THAT REGISTERS IS NO WHERE NEAR CORRECT. THE DEALER WANTS $600 TO FIX IT BUT APPARENTLY IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT CHEVY'S ARE HAVING AN ISSUE WITH THE SPEEDOMETER. I HAVE HAD TO RESORT TO HOOKING UP MY LAPTOP COMPUTER WITH GPS TO BE ABLE TO MONITOR MY SPEED!! GM NEEDS TO RECALL!! *JB

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED IN AN ATTEMPT TO STOP THE VEHICLE THE BRAKES FAILED. I HAVE HAD MY TRUCK 1 YEAR AND USE IT FOR WORK. (DRIVE 25K A YEAR) SINCE I HAVE PURCHASED IT I HAVE HAD IT IN THE SHOP 5 TIMES. EVERY TIME THEY SAY ITS THE INTERMITTENT STEERING SHAFT. IT FEELS LIKE MY FRONT END IS COMING APART AT TIMES AND FEELS VERY UNSAFE. GM WILL NOT REPLACE THESE PARTS AND ARE ONLY PACKING IT WITH GREASE. THIS CANT BE RIGHT. MY 2004 1500 SILVERADO PEGGED 120 MPH AND WILL NOT MOVE....AT 53K I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY MATTER..FOR IT READ 20 MILES LESS THAN WHAT I WAS DOING FOR AWHILE THEN STARTING CLIMBING TILL IT PEGGED 120 AND STAYED THERE..IF IT WAS NOT FOR THAT I WAS ALREADY NOTICING THE TRUCKS SPEEDOMETER WAS MESSED UP I MIGHT HAVE THOUGHT I COULD HAVE DONE FASTER...SO 55 COULD HAVE BEEN REALLY 75 MPH,..AND SO ON.. MY VEHICLE IS A 2004 CHEVY SLIVERED 4 X 4 EX. CAB. FIRST, AT AROUND JUNE OR JULY OF 2006 THE SPIDER GEARS HAD TO BE REPLACED IN REAR DIFFERENTIAL ($1,100 BILL...ABOUT 53,000 MILES). NOW, ON DECEMBER 8, 2006, THE SPEEDOMETER STOP WORKING (61,000 MILES). DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AT IT TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS. I KNOW THERE WOULD BE LABOR COST CONCERNING THIS INSPECTION ($60-$80 PER HOUR). JUST YESTERDAY I SEARCHED THE INTERNET AND FOUND, LITERALLY, HUNDREDS OF OTHER OWNERS OF CHEVY SILVERADOS AND OTHER GM PRODUCTS WITH THE SAME SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM THAT I HAVE. THE COST FOR A DEALER REPAIR IS ANYWHERE FROM $450 UP TO $1100. FROM WHAT I'VE FOUND, THE SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM INVOLVES A "STEPPER MOTOR" NOT WORKING PROPERLY OR A PLASTIC COVERED GEAR THAT CRACKS, MAKING THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE MOVE ERRATICALLY. IF THIS SPEEDOMETER PROBLEM IS AS PREVALENT AS IT SEEMS, GM SHOULD BE FORCED TO OWN UP TO IT'S RESPONSIBILITY BECAUSE THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE! SPEEDOMETER MALFUNTIONED ON MY 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500HD. I NOTICED THE MALFUNTION ON THE INTERSTATE WHILE TRAVELING AT SAME SPEED AS OTHER DRIVERS. MY SPEEDOMETER WAS READING 50 MILES PER HOUR AND THE POSTED SPEED LIMIT WAS 70 MILES PER HOUR. I KNOW THAT THE AVERAGE SPEED ON THAT ROUTE IS BETWEEN 70 AND 75 MILES PER HOUR. IF SOMEONE WERE TO DRIVE THROUGH A SCHOOL ZONE WITH THE SPEEDOMETER READING 20 MILES PER HOUR AND WERE TO INJURE A CHILD WHILE THE ACTUAL SPEED TRAVELED WAS IN THE 40-45 MILE PER HOUR RANGE IT WOULD BE GM'S FAULT. IT IS WELL KNOWN TO CHEVY OWNERS THAT THERE IS A DEFECT IN THIS PARTICULAR INSRUMENT CLUSTER AND WELL KNOWN TO GM. SOMETHING SHOULD HAVE ALREADY BEEN DONE, BUT AS OF TODAY NO RECALLS HAVE TAKEN EFFECT. *NM
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE. THE CLUSTER FAILED WITHIN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS AND WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY. THE REPLACEMENT CLUSTER FAILED A YEAR LATER. THE SERVICE WRITER TOLD ME THAT THEY REPAIR THE CLUSTERS THEY REPLACE AND SELL THEM AS NEW. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THEY REPAIR THE SPECIFIC PROBLEM WITH THE RETURNED CLUSTER AND THAT THE CLUSTERS ARE SUBJECT TO FAIL AGAIN. IF THE CLUSTER IS REPLACED AS NEW IT SHOULD BE A NEW UNIT. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPLACEMENT CLUSTER WAS SOLD WITHOUT WARRANTY AND THAT IT COULD FAIL AGAIN. THE TECH THAT WORKED ON MY TRUCK SAID THAT HE REPLACES THESE CLUSTERS OFTEN. *NM

MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO'S SPEEDOMETER HAS FAILED TO WORK PROPERLY. IT WILL READ 120 MPH WHEN I'M GOING 20 MPH. DEALER SAID IT NEEDS A NEW SPEEDOMETER THAT WILL COST ABOUT $500.00. IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM I FOUND THIS TO BE A VERY COMMON IN ALL NEWER GM VEHICLES FROM ABOUT 40-50 THOUSAND MILES, JUST OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL, AS THIS PROBLEM CAN BE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS-YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW FAST YOU ARE GOING. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN GM, WILL RETHINK WHEN I BUY NEW VEHICLE. *NM
SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER BECAME ERRATIC, THEN FAILED COMPLETELY. AFTER RESEARCHING, I FOUND THAT THIS PROBLEM IS COMMON IN CHEVROLET / GMC TRUCKS. IT APPEARS THAT THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND THAT CHEVROLET / GMC IS AWARE OF IT. MY LOCAL DEALER WANTS $500.00, A COST THAT CHEVROLET SHOULD PAY. *TR
STEERING HAS BEEN MAKING KNOCKING NOISES. DEALER HAS PERFORMED SEVERAL FIXES, PUT A SLEEVE OVER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT, REPLACED BODY MOUNTS,NOW IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TURN TO THE RIGHT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE AT A STOP. DEALER SAYS NO FIX AT THIS TIME. THE DEALERSHIP GAVE ME GM CUSTOMER SERVICE #, WHO IN TURN GAVE ME THE BBB AUTO LINE. IT WILL NOT PASS MO. VEHICLE INSPECTION. THEY TOLD ME TO PUT ONE FOOT ONE BRAKE AND ONE ON THE GAS TO TURN TO THE RIGHT. NOT ONLY DO I PUT MY FAMILY AT RISK EVERY TIME I MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN, BUT ALSO YOURS!. *JB
MY 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO SPEEDOMETER IS MALFUNCTIONING. SOME DAYS IT WON'T WORK AT ALL AND SOME DAYS IT FLUCTUATES BETWEEN 0-120 MPH. THIS VERY DANGEROUS AND MAKES IT DIFFICULT TO OBEY THE SPEED LIMIT. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE FOUND IT TO BE A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM ON A VARIETY OF CHEVROLET AND GMC VEHICLES RANGING FROM 2003-2006. WHY ISN'T THERE A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM? *JB
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER STOPPED WORKING ON HER 2004 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT REGISTER MORE THAN 10 OR 20 MPH WHEN THE CONTACT WAS GOING MUCH FASTER. THE SPEEDOMETER HAS NOW STOPPED IN THE CENTER. THE DEALER HAS DIAGNOSED THE FAILURE AS A FAILED MODULE. THE VEHICLE HAD 45,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED THAT SHE HAS TWO 2004 CHEVROLET TRUCKS AND BOTH OF THE SPEEDOMETER MODULES HAVE FAILED.

WHAT DOSE IT TAKE TO GET A RECALL ON A VEHICLE SINCE THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR VEHICLE JUST OUT OF WARRANTY THE SPEEDOMETER IS BROKE, I CAN BE PARKED AND IT READS 120 MPH OR DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND IT READS 0 MPH. WHY IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON THIS PART? I AM TOLD THAT THE CONSUMER COST IS AROUND $500 TO FIX IT, THAT GMAC DEALERSHIPS WILL NOT PICK UP THE COST BECAUSE THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON IT. THIS IS A VERY UNSAFE ISSUE NOT KNOWING THE REAL SPEED THAT YOU ARE DRIVING AND JUST TRYING TO FIGURE OUT YOUR SPEED AND HOPE YOU DON'T GET A TICKET BECAUSE YOU DON'T HAVE THE CASH FLOW TO FIX IT BECAUSE IT IS A GMAC DEFECT. I HAVE A 2004 CHEVY SILVERADO PICK-UP WITH AROUND 44,500 MILES ON IT, IT IS VERY UNSAFE WHEN YOU DRIVE WITH SMALL CHILDREN IN THIS VEHICLE AROUND ALL THE TIME. WHAT CAN BE DONE TO GET GMAC TO RECALL THESES VEHICLE? I HAVE BROUGHT 1 GMC TRUCK AND 3 SILVERADO TRUCKS ALL NEW AND THIS IS THE 1ST ONE THAT I HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM WITH. I THINK I WILL RETHINK THE NEXT TIME I BUY A NEW VEHICLE AS TO ANOTHER MODEL OTHER THEN GMAC IF A RECALL IS NOT DONE AND I AS A CONSUMER HAVE TO PAY FOR A GMAC DEFECT PROBLEM.*JB
