TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WOULD INTERMITTENTLY ENGAGE WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH AND ABOVE ON NORMAL ROAD SURFACES. WHEN THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR, THE VEHICLE WOULD BECOME INCREASINGLY DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE CONTACT HAD NOT TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 29,000.
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH A 6.0 LITER ENGINE. THE LEFT SIDE AND RIGHT SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD ARE MISSING 2 BOLTS EACH. I ONLY HAVE 50,000 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. THE COST IS UNBELIEVABLE. THIS IS CERTAINLY A MATTER THAT GM SHOULD TAKE CARE OF. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEV SILVERADO TRUCK WHERE THE ABS SYSTEM COMES ON AT 15KMS OR LESS. THIS HAPPENS ON MATTER THE ROAD CONDITION, ITS STARTED ABOUT 2 MONTHS AGO. NOW IT COMES ON ALL THE TIME, EVERYTIME I STOP. WHAT HAPPENS IS THAT THE ABS COMES ON WHEN BELOW 15KMS, SCARELY WHNE YOUR NOT EXSPECTING IT. I REASEACHED THIS AS TO WHY OR IF THERES ANY RECALLS. I FOUND OUT THE 1999-2002 CHEV SILVERADO'S HAD RECALLS ON THESE VEHILCES FOR THIS PROBLEM. PROBLEM IS THAT IT STATED THAT IT'S CAUSED FROM CORRISION IN THE HUB, GIVING A WRONG SIGNAL TO THE ABS SYSTEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, APPROACHING A STOP SIGNAL. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS ENGAGED WITH FULL BODY PRESSURE BEFORE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED DURING BRAKE APPLICATION. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 15,000.
THE DASHBOARD CLUSTER WENT OUT, SPEED ODOMETER STUCK ON 60MPH. HAD TO RACE MOTOR UP UNTIL IT RED LINE RETURNED TO 0. THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL BOARD STOPPED WORKING, FOUND OUT WAS A RECALL BUT MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. SPOKE TO AUTRY MORLAN DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES. WE PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE REPLACED AND THAT CLUSTER HAS DONE SAME THING. STILL NO RECALL ON OUR TRUCK. WILL COST ANOTHER 200-300 TO FIX OUT OF POCKET. GAS GAUGE DOES NOT WORK, SPEED ODOMETER DOES NOT WORK. RPM WILL WORK AND THAT IS HOW WE JUDGE OUR SPEED ON TRUCK. *TR
LETTER FROM SENATOR ON BEHALF OF CONSTITUENT RE PROBLEMS WITH 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO. DOT/I#2010-1208. *KB THE CONSUMER STATED HIS VEHICLE HAS SEVERE CORROSION ON THE FRAME. WITHIN TWO YEAS, THE ENTIRE UNDERCARRIAGE HAD CORRODED, WHICH CAUSED THE BRAKES AND POWER STEERING TO FAIL CATASTROPHICALLY. THE CONSUMER SUED ALLEGING BREACH OF WARRANTY. THE CASE WAS HEARD, HOWEVER GM EXPERTS TESTIFIED THAT THE CORROSION WAS CAUSED BY SEA AIR AND THEY WERE NOT UNDER ANY OBLIGATION TO COVER CORROSION CAUSED BY THE ENVIRONMENT. THEY ALSO TESTIFIED THAT THE CORROSION WAS PRIMARILY COSMETIC AND THAT THE VEHICLE WAS IN GOOD DRIVING CONDITION. THE CONSUMER STATED TWO DAYS LATER, AS HE ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP, THE BRAKE LINES RUPTURED AND THE DRIVE SHAFT SHEARED IN HALF, NEARLY CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. *JB
CHEVY 05 SILVERADO SPEEDOMETER QUIT WORKING. APPARENTLY THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON WITH THIS TRUCK AND NEEDS TO BE REPAIRED BY GMC. I AM NOT GOOD AT JUDGING SPEED AND WILL BE PRONE TO BEING TICKETED. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. I KEPT SMELLING AN ODOR OF SOMETHING BURNING BUT COULD NOT FIND WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN MY FAN MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. I HAD BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE SWITCH NOT WORKING IN ALL POSITIONS. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE PRICE AND AVAILABILITY OF THE SWITCH. THE PARTS DEPT. INFORMED ME THAT IT WAS MOST LIKELY THE FAN RESISTOR OR THE PLUG BECAUSE THEY HAVE HAD SEVERAL THAT NEEDED REPLACED. WHEN I LOOKED UNDER THE DASH I FOUND WHAT HAD BEEN CAUSING THE SMELL. THE RESISTOR SHOWED SIGNS OF BEING OVERHEATED AND THE WIRE HARNESS WAS BURNT FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE SOMEONE IS EITHER INJURED OR KILLED DUE TO THIS DEFECTIVE RESISTOR/PLUG. *TR

ANTI- LOCK BRAKES ARE ACTIVATING ON DRY PAVEMENT AT SLOW SPEEDS. THIS HAPPENS 95% OF ALL STOPPINGS. WHEN YOU THINK YOU WILL STOP IN 10-15 FEET, IT MIGHT TAKE TWICE THE DISTANCE AS EXPECTED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING SHAFT WAS WORN OUT AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE AIR BAG SENSOR. THE CONTACT PREVIOUSLY HAD THE SENSOR REPLACED IN JUNE 2010 WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED FOR THE FIRST TIME. TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING AT AN UNKNOWN RATE OF SPEED ON AN ON RAMP, THE DRIVER CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE SWAYED BACK AND FORTH ON THE ROAD AND THEN CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF AN 18 WHEELER TRUCK. THE DRIVER'S BUMPER ATTACHED TO THE 18 WHEELER TRUCK AND THE DRIVER'S VEHICLE WAS DRAGGED FOR A FEW MILES UNTIL THE STATE HIGHWAY PATROL ASSISTED. THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT NONE OF THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED MASSIVE HEAD INJURIES AND ABDOMINAL BLEEDING. THE CONTACT RECEIVED EXTENSIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION AND HAD TO BE SENT TO A TRAUMA UNIT IN ANOTHER HOSPITAL. THE DRIVER SUSTAINED FATAL INJURIES DUE TO THE AIR BAGS NOT DEPLOYING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
4 WHEEL DRIVE AUTOMATIC SHIFT TO TAKE THE 4 WHEEL DRIVE IN AND OUT MESSED UP HAD TO CHANGE THE SERVO OUT.THE OTHER ISSUE IS THE BEARING HUB FOR THE FRONT WHEEL HUBS 4 WHEEL DRIVE HAS A DEFECT I HAVE HAD THESE HUBS CHANGED OUT 3 TIMES AT A VERY COSTLY PRICE. *JS
THIS IS PROBLEM(S) THAT HAS BEEN INTERMITTENT FOR A COUPLE A YEARS SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BUT DID NOT MENTION ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS SO INTERMITTENT....FIRST THE ILLUMINATION LEVEL SEEMED TO DIM EVERY ONCE IN A WHILE FOR MANY AREAS SUCH AS THE GEAR (PRND), THE SPEEDOMETER, THE TEMP CONTROL LEVELS. NEXT THE SPEEDOMETER DID NOT REFLECT CORRECT SPEED SOMETIMES EVEN WHEN YOU WERE PARKED. THESE SYMPTOMS WERE INITIALLY INTERMITTENT BUT NOW ARE MORE PREDOMINANT. NOW THIS AT TIMES IS A REAL PROBLEM AND EVEN A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR

IN FEBRUARY 2010, I STARTED TO NOTICE A CLICKING NOISE IN THE FRONT WHEEL OF MY 2005 SILVERADO. WHILE RETURNING FROM FLORIDA THE NOISE INCREASED AND THE RIGHT FRONT HUB BEARING FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED AT 32,000 FOR $500. APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS LATER, THE LEFT SIDE FAILED AND THE DEALER REPLACED IT AND I HAD TO PAY $100. DURING THE SUMMER THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $120. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND STAYED ON. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS AND THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 34,455. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 34,469.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE WOULD ABNORMALLY DECREASE IN SPEED WITHOUT WARRANT AND SPORADICALLY STALL. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR DESPITE THE CONTACTS ATTEMPTS TO DEPRESS THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER REPLACED A PORTION OF THE FUEL LINE WITH A HYDRAULIC HOSE YET THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FUEL LINES WERE COLLAPSING AND HE WAS HESITANT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE INTERMITTENT STALLING WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO FURTHER REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 59,000.
2005 SILVERADO 2500 HD SPEEDOMETER MALFUNCTION. SPEEDOMETER REGISTERS VERY HIGH SPEEDS (I.E. 80 MPH), OR NO SPEED AT ALL (I.E. 0 MPH) REGARDLESS OF WHAT SPEED IS ACTUALLY BEING DRIVEN. *TR
I OWN A 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 PKUP [XXX] AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING SPEEDOMETER INACCURACY READINGS. WHEN THE PROBLEM STARTED, I WAS TRAVELING 70 MPH AND THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED TO 0. THEN WHEN TRAVELING 40-50 MPH THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD NOT EXCEED 20 MPH. AFTER NOTING THE PROBLEM, I HAVE CONTACTED 2 LOCAL AUTO REPAIRS THAT REFERRED ME TO THE GM DEALER TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM AS I WAS ADVISED GM WAS AWARE OF THE ISSUE (INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FAILURE) AND HAD ISSUED A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUST. AFTER CONTACTING THE LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP, I WAS ADVISED THAT I SHOULD CONTACT GM CUST SVC AS THEY WERE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND UNFORTUNATELY MY VEHICLE HAD EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE QUALIFICATION. THE DEALERSHIP CONFIRMED THAT THEY DID NOT AGREE WITH GM'S POLICY TO ONLY REPAIR VEHICLES WITH 70K OR LESS AND SAID THE ISSUE SHOULD HAVE BEEN A "RECALL" BUT THAT GM WOULD HAVE HAD TO REPAIR ALL VEHICLES AND INSTEAD THEY CHOSE THE COURSE OF LEAST RESISTANCE. AFTER DEALING WITH 2 REPAIR SHOPS, DEALERSHIP AND GM CUST SVC, I WAS ADVISED BY GM THAT THE REPAIR WOULD BE MY RESPONSIBILITY UNLESS THE DEALERSHIP WOULD AGREE TO COVER THE CHARGES OF APPROX $700 AND 2-3 DAYS REPAIR TIME. WHILE TRYING TO GET THIS RESOLVED, I WAS STOPPED BY THE LOCAL SHERIFF'S DEPT AND ISSUED A TKT FOR 66 MPH IN A 55 MPH ZONE AT A COST OF $175. I TOLD THE OFFICER THAT I WAS ONLY TRAVELING 55-60 AND MADE NO ATTEMPT TO SLOW DOWN AS I HAD NO REASON TO ASSUME THAT I WAS SPEEDING. THE LONG AND SHORT OF THE ISSUE IS THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I TLD THE GM CUSTOMER SERVICE REP COULD HAPPEN AND I CONSIDERED IT A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT APPEARS THE SPEEDOMETER CONTINUES TO PROVIDE INACCURATE READING UNTIL I CAN GET THE MATTER RESOLVED. THE DEALERSHIP SUPPORTS MY POSITION AS THEY ARE AWARE OF MY EFFORTS TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I AM APPALLED THAT GM IS TAKING THE SAME APPROACH AS TOYOTA IN TRYING TO MINIMIZE THE PROBLEM INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM. BASED ON PENDING ACTION...NO MORE GM. CHEVY SILVERADO AND CHEVY SUBURBAN WITH SAME PROBLEM. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THIS COULD EITHER MEAN TO CHECK ENGINE OR THAT THE GAS CAP IS LOOSE. ENGINE WAS CHECKED AND SO WAS GAS CAP. NOTHING WRONG. SERVICER TURNED OFF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. NEXT TIME TRUCK WAS STARTED UP THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. *CN
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT LAST WEEK WHILE HE WAS DRIVING 45 MPH HE APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE ABS MALFUNCTIONED. THE BRAKES LOCKED AND CAUSED HIM TO CONTINUE DRIVING THROUGH AN INTERSECTION. A LOCAL MECHANIC REPLACED THE BRAKES WHICH DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT TWO SPEED SENSORS CAUSED THE FAILURE TO OCCUR. THE VEHICLE WILL BE REPAIRED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 49,500.
MY VEHICLE IS 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 PURCHASED IN 2007 WITH MILEAGE OF APPROXIMATELY 47,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE. UPON DRIVING THEVEHICLE FOR THREE MONTHS, MY SPEEDOMETER STARTED STICKING INTERMITTENTLY, BUT WOULD RESET. SINCE, MY SPEEDOMETER STICKS ON A DAILY BASIS, SOMETIMES ALL DAY. THE ONLY REMEDY HAS BEEN TO TURN MY VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON, WHERE AS MY SPEEDOMETER GOES DOWN AT FIVE MILE PER HOUR INCREMENTS UNTIL BACK AT ZERO. IN THE LAST THREE WEEKS, MY TACHOMETER HAS ALSO MALFUNCTIONED AND DOES NOT READ AT TIMES, THEREFORE MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO KNOW HOW FAST I AM GOING NOR HOW HIGH MY ENGINE IS IDLING OR INCREASING/DECREASING IN SPEED. THERE IS NO APPARENT EVENT LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE AND MY CONCLUSION IS THAT THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER IS DEFECTIVE IN ITS ENTIRETY. IN MARCH OF THIS YEAR I WAS TRAVELING IN OKLAHOMA DURING A SUDDEN SNOW STORM IN WHICH TRAFFIC WAS TRAVELING AT AN ESTIMATED 20-30 MILES PER HOUR. I ACCELERATED TO AN UNKNOWN SPEED, HOWEVER NOT EXCESSIVELY. I LOST CONTROL AND MY VEHICLE SLIDE ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC OPPOSITE THE LANE I WAS IN AND I SLIDE INTO A DITCH IN WHICH MY BOTTOM AIR DAM WAS TORN OFF. I WAS ABLE TO REPAIR THE DAMAGE HOWEVER I ONLY ACCELERATED BECAUSE I THOUGHT I WAS TRAVELING AT TEN MILES PER HOUR. WHEN MY VEHICLE CAME TO A REST IN THE DITCH, MY SPEEDOMETER WAS STILL AT TEN MILES PER HOUR. A STATE TROOPER DID ASSIST ME BY GETTING A TOW TRUCK, HOWEVER NO REPORT WAS FILED BY ME. I BELIEVE THAT IF I HAD KNOW HOW FAST I WAS GOING, THIS MAY NOT HAVE HAPPENED. IT IS INCONCLUSIVE, HOWEVER I DO BELIEVE THE MALFUNCTION IS A SAFETY CONCERN. I HAVE PRICED THE REPLACEMENT, WHICH IS THE ONLY REMEDY, AT OR ABOUT $450-700 AND THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED MALFUNCTION. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY, MANY CASES OF THIS VERY DEFECT IN THE SAME MODEL TRUCK FROM THE SAME MANUFACTURER AND BELIEVE THAT IT SHOULD BE A RECALL, NOT A "SPECIAL PROVISION" DU TO THE MANUFACTURERS KNOWING SINCE 2003 ABOUT THIS PARTICULAR DEFECT. *TR
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 APPROX 92,000 TACK AND FUEL GAUGE FAILED. PRIOR TO 92,000 TACK WOULD INTERMITTENTLY JUMP BETWEEN 0 AND 2,000 RPM BUT RETURN TO NORMAL SHORTLY AFTERWARD. THIS STARTED AROUND 85,000. NOW IT STAYS AT 6,000 RPM AND DOESN'T MOVE. FUEL GAUGE IS A COMPLETE FAILURE AND NOT ACCURATE AT ALL. *TR
2005 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 INSTRUMENT PANEL ACTING UP, SPEEDOMETER IN PARTICULAR DOES NOT WORK ANYMORE. BUT SEEING TACH AND OIL PRESSURE GAGE ACTING UP ALSO. I HAVE 134,000 MILES ON IT BUT THE SPEEDOMETER HAS BEEN ACTING UP AROUND 80,000 AND RECENTLY JUST QUIT. I HAVE READ THAT GM IS WILLING TO FIX BUT HAS TO BE UNDER CERTAIN REQUIREMENTS. WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WOULD DISPLAY A SPEED OF 120 MPH WHEN THE CONTACT WAS ACTUALLY TRAVELING AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH. THE DEALERSHIP WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON HIS VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 90000. OUR 2005 CHEVY SILVERADO'S SPEEDOMETER BROKE AT 57, 218 MILES. WE CALLED A DEALERSHIP IN THE AREA AND WERE TOLD THAT THERE ARE NO CURRENT RECALLS FOR THIS AND TOLD ME THAT THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO ANYTHING FOR ME. I TOLD THEM THAT I DO NOT THINK A SPEEDOMETER SHOULD BREAK WHEN THE VEHICLE HAS LESS THAN 60,000 MILES ON IT. I FOUND A RECALL ONLINE, BUT EVIDENTLY IT DOESN'T COVER MY VEHICLE...ONLY CERTAIN 2005 SILVERADO MODELS....I DON'T FEEL I SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR YET ANOTHER THING TO BREAK ON THIS VEHICLE (HUB ASSEMBLY TWICE, ACTUATOR BROKE 3 TIMES BEFORE THE DEALERSHIP WOULD ACTUALLY LISTEN TO US AND FIX IT CORRECTLY). 2005 CHEVY 2500HD DIESEL - THE NUMBER 2 AND NUMBER 7 INJECTOR WIRE HARNESS IS NOT MOUNTED PROPERLY. IT RUBS THROUGH AND PUTS THE TRUCK INTO WHAT THEY CALL "LIMP MODE". IT ONLY ALLOWS THE MOTOR TO GOT UP TO 2000 RPM. THIS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE WITH MY CURRENT TRUCK. THE SECOND TIME I WAS RUNNING DOWN INTERSTATE I-80 @ 70MPH ON CRUISE CONTROL. IT AUTOMATICALLY BEGAN DOWNSHIFTING AND SLOWING DOWN. I WAS LUCKY A SEMI WASN'T BEARING DOWN ON ME. I HAVE A 2005 CHEVY 2500 I HAVE HAD THE STEERING SHAFT REPLACED 2 TIMES ALREADY AND NOW AT 80,000 MILES IT HAS GONE OUT AGAIN. I HAVE CONTACTED GM ABOUT THIS PROBLEM, THEY ARE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT UNWILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT, THEY SAY ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I READ AN ARTICLE IN THE PAPER REGARDING FAILURE OF THE BRAKES ON OLDER FULL SIZE CHEVY TRUCKS DUE TO RUST. I WOULD LIKE TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM AS OCCURRED ON MY 2005 CHEVY 1500 FULL SIZE PICKUP. THE FAILURE [RUST] ALSO INCLUDED THE ABS SYSTEM ON MY CHEVY TRUCK. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK NEW IN 2005 AND THE TRUCK ONLY HAS 35,480 MILES ON IT. FUEL EVAP SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONING NOT ALLOWING FUEL SYSTEM TO VENT THUS MAKING IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 65. AS I APPROACHED A STRETCH WITH A LOWER SPEED LIMIT I DEPRESSED THE SET/DECREASE BUTTON FOUR TIMES TO SLOW DOWN. THE ENGINE RPM BEGAN TO DECREASE ON THE FIRST THREE PUSHES BUT ON THE FOURTH PUSH THE ENGINE IMMEDIATELY WENT TO FULL THROTTLE. I QUICKLY PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE WITH DISENGAGED THE CRUISE CONTROL. I DRIVE THIS STRETCH OF ROAD ALMOST DAILY AND USE THE SAME ROUTINE. THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. I TOOK MY 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO PICK UP IN FOR A EXHAUST LEAK. THE MANIFOLD BOLTS ROTTED AWAY. 3 BOLTS HOLDING RIGHT AND LEFT EXHAUST MANIFOLDS IN PLACE. VARY VERY UNSAFE, ONE GOOD BUMP IN THE ROAD AND IT WOULD DROP. VEHICLES WITH LESS THAN 30,000 MILES HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. GM KNOWS ABOUT THE PROBLEM AND SHOULD HAVE CONTACTED IT'S CUSTOMERS. ELECTRICAL FIRE HAZARD THAT AFFECTS THE HEATER, AIR CONDITIONER, CRUISE CONTROL, ABS, AND BRAKES ON 2005 CHEVROLET SILVERADO MODEL TRUCKS. A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM IS COMMON ON THESE VEHICLES AND KNOW BY THE DEALERSHIPS TO EFFECT MULTIPLE POINTS AS A DIRECT RESULT OF A SHORT IN THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ELECTRICAL FIRE OR SERIOUS INJURY FROM SYSTEM FAILURES. ITEMS THAT ARE AFFECTED INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO FUSE BOX, WIRE HARNESS, WIRE CONNECTORS, THE HEATER/AC BLOWER MOTOR, FUSES, RELAYS, AND MANY OTHER PARTS. THE SYSTEM SHORT THAT OCCURRED IN THIS VEHICLE WAS IDENTIFIED BY THE DEALERSHIP WITHOUT EVEN SEEING THE BURNED PARTS. *TR
