APPEARS GM'S FAULTY BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR HAS CLAIMED MY 2ND TRUCK. FIRE STARTED WHILE PARKED IN PARKING LOT. FIRE OCCURS ON PASSENGER SIDE AROUND GLOVE BOX AND GROWS. THIS TRUCK GAVE NO INDICATION OF "MELTING WIRES" THERE WAS NO SMELL OR SMOKE WHEN PARKED. THIS PART OF A SPECIAL COVERAGE #10240
BRAKE LINE COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH ON FRONT, LEFT SIDE NEAR WHEEL. INSPECTION OF LINES REVEALED SIGNIFICANT RUST ON ALL BRAKE LINES. NO BRAKING ACTION AT ALL WHEN I TRIED TO STOP, BRAKE FLUID POURED OUT AND I HAD TO USE PARKING BRAKE TO STOP VEHICLE. OCCURRED WHEN I WAS DRIVING OUT OF MY GARAGE. IF I HAD BEEN ON HIGHWAY WHEN THIS HAPPENED, IT COULD HAVE CAUSED SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO MYSELF AND OTHERS. THIS VEHICLE SAW ONLY LIMITED USE DURING WINTER MONTHS BUT LINES ARE VERY RUSTED.
THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE LINE ON MY TRUCK RUSTED THROUGH. I LOST BRAKING WHEN LOADING MY 10 FT CAMPER IN THE DRIVEWAY. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP AND IT WAS FOUND THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTED AND IN DANGER OF FAILURE AT ANY TIME. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ON THE TRUCK ARE BARE METAL AND PRONE TO RUST. NEW BRAKE LINES ARE PAINTED TO PREVENT THIS FROM HAPPENING. HAD TO BUY COMPLETE BRAKE LINE KIT TO GET RIGHT FRONT LINE FOR REPLACEMENT BY DEALERSHIP FOR $452.85 . THEY RECOMMEND THAT I REPLACE ALL OF THE LINES. I CALLED CHEVROLET CUSTOMER SERVICE, COMPLAINT # 8-3176545196. I HAVE GOTTEN NO COOPERATION, THEY HAVE TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO. BECAUSE OF THIS POTENTIALLY CAUSING A CATASTROPHIC FATAL ACCIDENT DUE TO COMPLETE OR PARTIAL LOSS OF BRAKING POWER - IT GIVES NO WARNING UNTIL FAILURE OCCURS. I TOLD THEM THEY NEEDED TO PUT OUT AN ALERT TO OTHER DRIVERS AND THEY DECLINED STATING THAT THEY DID NOT HAVE ENOUGH COMPLAINTS. THIS TRUCK ONLY HAS 99546 MILES ON IT AND IN ALL OF MY YEARS WORKING WITH AUTOMOBILES I HAVE NEVER SEEN A BREAK LINE RUST THROUGH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CAPE COD CARZ (153 CORPORATION ST, HYANNIS, MA 02601, (508) 778-2279) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRAME NEEDED TO BE WELDED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
STEEL BRAKE LINES (BRAKELINES) RUSTED THROUGH BY FRAME OF TRUCK. COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. VERY DANGEROUS AS USUALLY OCCURS (AND DID IN MY CASE) WHILE DRIVING SINCE PUMPS WILL PUSH BRAKE FLUID OUT OF LEAKING RUSTED LINES WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PERFORMING REGULAR MAINTENANCE THAT HE OBSERVED CORROSION AND A HOLE ON THE CROSS MEMBERS AND CHASSIS WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL, NOR COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD ARRANGE TO HAVE THE VEHICLE ON A ROLLBACK TO BE TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEN THEY PATCHED THE CONTACT OVER TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ( WALTER GM AUTOMALL 505 N MAYO TRAIL, PIKEVILLE, KY, 41501) CONFIRMED THE VEHICLE WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY THAT THEY COULD HAVE THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACK, HOWEVER THERE WOULD BE A DIAGNOSTIC FEE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,231.
DRIVING IN STOP AND GO TRAFFIC 3 -5 MPH BRAKE LINE BROKE, PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. HAD TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL AND EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. CHEVY DEALERSHIP STATES THEY WERE AWARE OF RUSTING BRAKE LINES FAILING ON THIS MODEL. NO RECALL AT THIS TIME. $1,800.00 TO HAVE DEALERSHIP REPLACE.
WHEN BRAKING AT LOW SPEEDS, THE ABS SYSTEM IS ENGAGING AND THE VEHICLE WILL NOT STOP WHERE YOU INTENDED TO STOP. IT GOES SEVERAL FEET BEFORE STOPPING INCREASING THE RISK OF ACCIDENT BY REAR ENDING SOMEONE OR ENDING UP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION.
FRAME AND SUSPENSION COMPONENTS EXCESSIVE RUSTING TO THE POINT OF FAILURE. LEAF SPRING SHACKLE FAILED LAST YEAR, CAUSING LEAF SPRING TO PUT A HOLE IN TRUCK BED WHILE DRIVING. BRAKES LINES RUSTED TO FAILURE LAST WEEK AND CAUSED NEAR BRAKE LOSS WHILE OPERATING. HAD TO USE E-BRAKE TO AVOID HITTING MY GARAGE. CROSS MEMBERS SUPPORTING SHOCK FAILED. GAS TANK ABOUT TO FALL OFF DUE TO RUST FAILURE. CANNOT DRIVE TRUCK. BRAKES NO LONGER FUNCTION AND TRUCK IS UNSAFE DUE TO FRAME BEING COMPROMISED.
WHILE DRIVING OR SITTING STILL HEADLIGHTS GO OFF FROM SECONDS TO MINUTES THEN GO ON OR UNTIL I PUSH THE DIMMER SWITCH SIDEWAYS NOT UP AND DOWN,THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS AND CLOCK GO OFF FROM SECONDS OR UNTIL I PUSH THE DIMMER LIGHT SWITCH SIDEWAYS NOT UP AND DOWN,THE ENGINE SUDDENLY QUITS WHETHER SITTING STILL OR DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHEN THE CONTACT STARTED THE ENGINE, FLAMES APPEARED UNDER THE HOOD. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BAYSIDE CHEVROLET IN PRINCE FREDERICK, MD (PHONE: (410) 525-1500) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE HYBRID MODULE OVERHEATED AND CAUSED THE WIRES TO BURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE'S WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 94,656.
MOVING BOAT IN MY YARD WHEN BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR, USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP. BRAKE LINE TO LEFT FRONT WAS COMPLETELY SPLIT OPEN . LINE IS SEVERELY RUSTED IN SPOTS.
WHILE DRIVING ON A DIVIDED 4 LANE HIGHWAY AT NIGHT, SEVERAL DEER RAN IN THE PAT( OF OUR VEHICLE. I APPLIED THE BRAKES, SND THEY WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. WE SLOWED DOWN BUT WERE UNABLE TO STOP. LUCKILY THEREVWAS NO ONE BESIDE US AND WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID THE LAST DEER BY SWERVING INTO THE LEFT LANE. I COULD ELL THERE WAS NO PRESSURE IN MY BRAKE PEDAL AFTER THAT. WE WERE ABOUT 20 MILES FROM HOME BUT I ONLY HAD 2 MORE STOP SIGNS UNTIL OUR RESIDENCE. THE BRAKE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH DIDNT COME ON UNTIL LESS THAN 1/4 MILE FROM MY HOUSE. THERE WAS ALSO AN AUDIBLE ALARM AT THAT TIME. WAS ABLE TO COAST INTO MY DRIVEWAY AND GET STOPPED FROM THERE. THE MECHANIC SAID THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED AND ONE HAD BURST. THE ADDITIONAL STRESS CAUSE BY THE RUPTURING OF THE LINE THEN AFFECTED THE OTHER LINES. I HAD TO PAY TO REPLACE ALL THE BRAKE LINES BEFORE IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE AGAIN.
SUDDEN FAILURE OF BRAKES DURING LOW SPEED STOP, BRAKE LINE FAILED NEAR FRAME UNDERSIDE IN DRIVER SEAT AREA. WAS ABLE TO QUICKLY STOP VEHICLE WITH EMERGENCY BRAKE JUST SHORT OF GOING INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC. THIS TRUCK IS METICULOUSLY MAINTAINED INCLUDING UNDERSIDE WASHES, NO BODY RUST ANYWHERE AND WAS UNDERCOAT PROTECTED FROM NEW. SHOCKED A LEVEL OF RUST ON WHAT ARE APPARENTLY HIGH CARBON STEEL LINES, THESE SHOULD BE STAINLESS STEEL.
DRIVING MY CHEVY SILVERADO DOWN THE ROAD. HIT THE BRAKES FOR A DEER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. SMOKE STARTED COMING OUT FROM UNDER THE HOOD. FLUID WAS ALL OVER THE ENGINE AND ON THE ROAD. FOUND THAT THE METAL BRAKE LINE BLEW OUT. TALKED TO 3 COMPANIES ABOUT REPAIRS. ALL THE LINES ARE ROTTEN. MINIMUM COST IS $500. ALL PLACES SAID THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH GM TRUCKS-EVEN THE DEALER SAID OH BRAKE LINES GO BAD ALL THE TIME ON VEHICLES OVER 10 YEARS OLD. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR ALMOST 50 YEARS; OWNED AT LEAST 20 VEHICLES AND NEVER HEARD OF THIS HAPPENING. IN CASE YOU DON'T KNOW IT-BRAKES ARE PRETTY IMPORTANT! I WAS LUCKY. NO ONE WAS HURT. I WAS ON A BACK ROAD. I READ THAT GM USED LOW QUALITY MATERIAL FOR THEIR LINES. IF SO, IT SHOULD BE EASY TO BREAK IT DOWN AND VERIFY. WAS THIS METAL SUSCEPTIBLE TO CORROSION? THEY KNOW ALL THE CONDITIONS THAT THEIR TRUCKS WILL BE IN. HOW MANY MORE OF UNREPORTED ISSUES ARE THERE? SOONER OR LATER IT WILL BE PEOPLE'S LIVES THAT WILL BE LOST. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 63 MPH, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION FROM THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD SEPARATED FROM THE TIRE WHICH CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE BED OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE TIRE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WAS 114,900.

BRAKE PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING AT LOW SPEED.

MY 2006 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 EXTENDED CAB HAS JUST OVER 116000 MILES ON IT AND THERE IS A LOUD KNOCKING COMING FROM THE #2 LIFTER. IT ONLY DOES IT WHEN IT GETS WARM OR GIVEN GAS ON TAKE OFF.. IT DOESN'T DO IT WHEN IDLING. I KNOW 2 OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL TRUCK WITH THE SAME ISSUE. I LOVE MY TRUCK AND I TAKE EXTREMELY GOOD CARE OF IT BUT TO HAVE IT FIXED, MY MECHANIC SAID A NEW ENGINE IS BETTER AND CHEAPER THAN REBUILDING IT. TOTAL COST OF $6000 . AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LEAKS INSIDE THE TRUCK WHEN IT RAINS , BETWEEN THE FRONT AND REAR DOOR. THERE SHOULD BE SOMETHING THAT CHEVROLET CAN DO TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED CHEVY, BUT I'M STARTING TO GET VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THEM AND THE QUALITY BEING MADE AND SOLD FOR SUCH HIGH AMOUNTS OF CASH..
WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON US 131 IN HOLLAND MI. I WAS TRAVELING AT APPROX 50MPH WHEN I HAD TO BRAKE FOR STOPPED TRAFFIC AHEAD. VEHICLE BEGAN TO SLOW WHEN SUDDENLY BRAKE PEDAL FELL AND I LOST MUCH OF MY BRAKING. HAD TO VEER OFF TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD TO AVOID POSSIBLE COLLISION WITH STOPPED TRAFFIC. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO INSPECT MY TRUCK, I NOTICED FLUID DRIPPING FROM THE FRAME RAIL NEAR THE FUEL TANK. IT WAS BRAKE FLUID. THE BRAKE LINE THAT GOES FROM THE ABS UNIT TO THE REAR BRAKE HOSE WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND LEAKING. THIS IS A 10YR OLD TRUCK WITH ONLY 122000 MILES ON IT. I DON'T BELIEVE THIS TYPE OF FAILURE IS ACCEPTABLE FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE AND MILEAGE. I WAS ABLE TO CAREFULLY DRIVE THE TRUCK HOME AND PARKED IT. I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALER SERVICE MANAGER, WHO COULD ONLY REPAIR IT AT MY EXPENSE. I GOT GENERAL MOTOR CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE # FROM HER AND CONTACTED THEM. THEY OPENED A CASE, #8-2572108769, AND SAID THEY ALSO WOULD DO NOTHING TO ASSIST IN THE REPAIR OF THIS CONDITION. THEY ARE LUCKY NOT TO HAVE A DEATH OR INJURY LAWSUIT ON THEIR HANDS. I'VE SEEN SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE FROM OTHER OWNERS OF THIS MODEL. THESE NEED TO BE RECALLED BEFORE SOMEBODY GETS KILLED. *TR
THE BRAKES FAILED WHILE IN MOTION. THE CAUSE WAS THE STEEL HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE TO THE REAR WHEELS RUSTED AND BECAME TOO WEAK TO HOLD BRAKING PRESSURE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, ALL STEEL BRAKE LINES WERE VERY RUSTY.
BRAKE HYDRAULIC METAL PIPE FAILED TO RIGHT FRONT WHEEL, BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. VEHICLE WAS STOPPED BY DOWNSHIFTING AND USING PARK BRAKE. THIS OCCURRED AT LOW SPEED IN CITY TRAFFIC. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED.
"TAKATA RECALL" ON 11/04/2016 ATTEMPTING TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE, SUDDENLY VEHICLE ON MY PASSENGER SIDE BEGIN TO SIDESWIPED MY VEHICLE, MY PASSING WAS DELAY AND HINDER; ONCOMING TRAFFIC AND SIDESWIPED CONTINUALLY FORCE ME OF THE LEFT SIDE PAVEMENT ONTO THE GRAVEL ON THE LEFT AND INTO A RESIDENT DOGWOOD TREES, NO DEPLOY FROM AIRBAGS VEHICLE WAS CONSIDER A TOTAL LOST BY MY INSURANCE COMPANY AND REPAIR SHOP
WHEN NORMAL STOPPING ABS ACTIVATES AND KEEPS ACTIVATING UNTIL PEDAL GOES TO FLOOR AND BRAKES DO NO FUNCTION, THERE ARE NO WARNING LITES AND NO INDICATION OF A PROBLEM.I WAS UNDER THE IMPRESSION THAT ANY ABS FAILURE WOULD REVERT SYSTEM TO REGULAR BRAKE SYSTEM. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS.
MY VEHICLE IS BURNING MORE OIL THAN NORMAL. I PURCHASED THE PICKUP ON AUG 10, 2016 AND THE DAY PRIOR THE DEALERSHIP HAD JUST DONE A FRESH OIL CHANGE. I DOUBLE CHECKED THE NEW OIL BEFORE DRIVING FROM THE LOT AND SEEN THE OIL WAS NEW AND FRESH. A MONTH AND A HALF LATER MY HUSBAND IS DRIVING HOME FROM CAPE MAY NEW JERSEY WHICH IS A 6 HOUR DRIVE AND JUST AFTER FILLING UP HIS GAS TANK AND DRIVING HOME...THE VEHICLE STARTS SMOKING PROFUSELY. HE HAD TO ADD 5 QUARTS OF OIL TO THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT LOOKED AS THOUGH THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY DRAINED FROM THE ENGINE.
WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE BREAKS WERE APPLIED TO STOP FOR A RED LIGHT, THE FRONT BREAK LINE BROKE AND THE BREAKING PETAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BREAKS WERE THEN PUMPED BUT THERE WAS NO REAL REDUCTION IN SPEED ALLOWING THE TRUCK TO TRAVEL THRU THE INTERSECTION AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED THRU THE RED LIGHT. THE TRUCK DID EVENTUALLY COME TO A STOP WITH THE CONTINUED PUMPING OF THE BREAKS
BLOWER MOTOR FOR THE HVAC STARTED ALL BY ITS SELF AND RAN FULL BLAST. THE CONTROL PANEL HAD NO EFFECT ON THE SYSTEM . I COULD NOT CONTROL OR SHUT OFF THE BLOWER. EVEN WHEN THE TRUCK WAS PARKED, IN PARK AND SHUT DOWN AND THE KEYS REMOVED THE BLOWER CONTINUED TO RUN AT FULL BLAST. HAD TO DISCONNECT THE BATTERY. LATER AFTER HAVING TO DRIVE THE TRUCK TO WORK I FOLLOWED THE FUSE SCHEMATIC AND REMOVED THE GREEN I BELIEVE FUSE BREAKER FROM THE UNDER HOOD FUSE BOX. I HAVE LEFT THIS FUSE REMOVED SO THE BATTERY DOESN'T RUN DOWN.
PLUGGED IN MINI VAC TO CIG LIGHTER AND CIG LIGHTER SHORTED TO GROUND CAUSING WIRES TO MELT AND SMOKE INCLUDING POWER OUTLET WIRES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEEL BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,110.
THE BRAKES WENT TO THE FLOOR AND COMPLETELY FAILED; THROUGH THE INTERSECTION WE WENT. I WAS ABLE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO SLOW AND THEN STOP THE TRUCK. SOMEHOW, WE WERE ABLE TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE TRUCK THE REST OF THE WAY HOME USING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. THE BRAKE FLUID RESERVOIR WAS FULL, BUT I COULD SEE FLUID LEAKING UNDER THE TRUCK FROM THE FRAME AREA NEAR THE DRIVER'S DOOR. LOOKING UNDER THE TRUCK, I NOTICED THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED; EVERY BRAKE LINE ON THE TRUCK WAS RUSTED. LOOKING ON-LINE, I NOTICED I WASN'T THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM. I ORDERED A COMPLETE SET OF STAINLESS STEEL BRAKE LINES. WE HAD THE TRUCK TOWED THE TRUCK TO THE CHEVY DEALER ($200.00). THEY REPLACED EVERY BRAKE LINE ON THE TRUCK AS WELL AS THE FRONT CALIPERS ($2100). THE DEALER DID A GREAT JOB; $1600.00 OF THE COST WAS FOR LABOR.

WAS TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH DOWN A STATE HIGHWAY. AFTER COMING AROUND A BLIND CURVE, CAME UPON STOPPED TRAFFIC DUE TO ROAD WORK. APPLIED PRESSURE TO BRAKE PEDAL WHEN PEDAL WENT SOFT AND DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. AFTER RELEASING BRAKES AND PUSHING AGAIN STILL HAD NO BRAKES. HAD TO SWERVE OUT OF ROAD-WAY TO AVOID REAR ENDING MULTIPLE VEHICLES. AFTER RUNNING OUT OF ROAD, HIT 2 CULVERT PIPES ALONG WITH ROAD WORK SIGNAGE, FINALLY BRINGING THE TRUCK TO A STOP IN A RESIDENTIAL YARD. TRUCK BRAKE LINES FOR FRONT BRAKES HAD CORRODED AND RUPTURED CAUSING THE INCIDENT. FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THIS MATTER SHOWS AN APPARENT ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL GMS FOR BRAKE LINE CORROSION THAT GM HAS FAILED TO ADDRESS THROUGH THE RECALL PROCESS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE LOST ENGINE POWER WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT IT NEEDED TO BE COMPLETELY REPROGRAMMED AND THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER THREE OTHER TIMES, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
PARKED VEHICLE IN DRIVEWAY, MOVED IT ABOUT THREE FEET AND BRAKED. THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. LOOKED UNDER THE TRUCK AND FOUND A LARGE PUDDLE OF BRAKE FLUID COMING FROM A RUSTED THROUGH BRAKE LINE. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION THE OTHERS WERE IN THE SAME STATE. LUCKY THIS DIDN'T HAPPEN WITH FAMILY ONBOARD WHILE DRIVING ON A ROADWAY, COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT.
RUSTED/RUPTURED BRAKE LINE IN 2012 WHILE BRAKING AT AN INTERSECTION - SWIRVED TO MISS A VEHICLE. PULLING OUT OF DRIVEWAY IN 2016 ANOTHER LINE RUPTURED. VEHICLE UNDERCARRAGE WASHED AFTER EACH WINTER BUT EXCESSIVE RUST ON ALL PARTS AND FRAME. BOTH INCEDENTS WITH LOW MILES [20K & 30K] ON A LIGHTLY USED VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FUEL LINES WERE CONSIDERED A MAINTENANCE ITEM. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000.

WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO REMAIN IN POSITION AND THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE THREAD ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD SEPARATED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH THE SPARE TIRE. THE TIRE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS AWARE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14T013000 (TIRES), BUT THE TIRE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE TIRE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.

TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, WHEN VEHICLE WAS NEW IT WAS SEEN FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS MORE THEN ONCE. SINCE I'VE OWNED IT, I'VE HAD THE TRANNY REBUILT 2 TIMES.
I WAS DRIVING MY TRUCK ON 3/30/16 ANOTHER VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I SLAMMED ON MY BRAKES TO AVOID A WRECK. AT THE NEXT RED LIGHT I NOTICED MY BRAKES WERE SOFT. I PULLED OVER TO CHECK MY FLUID. IT WAS DOWN ABOUT AN INCH. I DECIDED TO TRY TO MAKE IT HOME. THEN A SERVICE BRAKE LIGHT CAME ON. I DID MAKE IT HOME. I CRAWLED UNDER THE TRUCK AND BRAKE FLUID WAS FROM THE FRONT TO THE BACK OF THE TRUCK. I NOTICED TWO COMPROMISED METAL BRAKE LINES ON THE DRIVER SIDE FRAME RAIL THAT WERE RUSTED THROUGH. I TOUCHED THE LINES AND THEY WERE FALLING APART AND FLAKING OFF METAL AT THE TOUCH. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND IT WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THEY QUOTED ME $1,100 TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. MY TRUCK IS A 2006 I BOUGHT IT BRAND NEW IT HAS 59,500 MILES ON IT AND I PAID RIGHT AT $50,000 FOR MY TRUCK. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN IN LESS THAN 10 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE SINCE CHEVROLET USED INFERIOR AND CHEAP PRODUCTS IN THEIR TRUCKS. THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS. SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED OR KILLED THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WAS DRIVING. I REPLACED ALL OF THE ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS AND ONE CALIPER NOT 9 MONTHS AGO. I NEVER THOUGHT THAT MY METAL LINES WERE COMPROMISED UNTIL I HAD A FAILURE. I HAVE LOST ALOT OF FAITH IN GM DUE TO THIS ISSUE. I AM STILL WORKING WITH GM AND THE DEALER TO GET THE PROBLEM RESOLVED, BUT IT IS NOT LOOKING GOOD. I AM WONDERING HOW MANY OTHER VEHICLES ARE COMPROMISED. I WAS TALKING TO MY UNCLE THE OTHER DAY AND A GENTLEMAN OVERHEARD MY CONVERSATION. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD A 2003 2500 CHEVROLET THE BRAKES ALSO FAILED ON. HE WAS TOWING A TRAILER AND TOATLED HIS TRUCK. I AM COMPLETELY OUT OF WARRANTY AS OF NEXT MONTH. GM SAYS TO KEEP MY BILL FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE LINES THAT I MAY GET PAID BACK. I DONT THINK THAT IS LIKELY AT ALL. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE SAFETY IS COMPROMISED.
BRAKE LINES ARE RUSTING AWAY. I NOTICED A SOFT BRAKE PEDAL, ON MY WAY BACK TO ST. LOUIS FROM ATLANTA, GA. I NOTICED FLUID UNDER THE TRUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY AFTER I GOT HOME. I STARTED LOOKING AROUND THE TRUCK. THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LOW ON FLUID. NO WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I NOTICED FLUID UNDER THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IT WAS BRAKE FLUID COMING FROM A RUSTED THRU BRAKE LINE. AFTER INSPECTION, ALL OF THE OTHER BRAKE LINES WERE BADLY RUSTED. THE REPAIR(REICHERS AUTO AND TIRE-WASHINGTON, MO) SHOP IS REPLACING ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES DUE TO HEAVY RUST. COST IS GOING TO BE OVER $800.
REAR BRAKE LINE RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH DURING NORMAL DRIVING OPERATION WHICH RESULTED IN A BRAKE FLUID SPILL AND REDUCED BRAKING CAPACITY OF THE VEHICLE. VEHICLE WAS ON A CITY STREET TURNING ONTO A HIGHWAY WHEN THE INCIDENT HAPPENED. FURTHER INSPECTION FOUND THAT ALL BRAKE LINES ON THE VEHICLE HAD EXTENSIVE CORROSION AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. VEHICLE HAD 120,000 MILES ON IT WITH NO ACCIDENT HISTORY.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING UP A MOUNTAIN AT APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL TURNED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OF THE INTENDED TURN. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WANDERED OFF THE ROAD UNCONTROLLABLY. THERE WAS ALSO A LOSS OF BRAKING ABILITY; HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE EVENTUALLY CAME TO A STOP AFTER APPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL NUMEROUS TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT BOLTS FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 308,000.
BREAK LINES ARE COMPLETELY RUSTED AND I AM AFRAID THEY WILL GO OUT WITHOUT WARNING. TRUCK ONLY HAS 67,000 MILES ON IT.

AS I COME TO A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL PULSATES FROM ABS ACTIVATION INCREASING BRAKING TIME AND DISTANCE. THE GROUND IS DRY WHILE THIS HAPPENS. AFTER A WHILE THE AND LIGHT COMES ON. WAS TOLD BY A DEALER MECHANIC IT WAS A BAD ABS SENSOR AND TO REPLACE HUB. I DID AND NOW, TWO YEARS LATER, IT IS HAPPENING AGAIN. NOW I'M BEING TOLD IT IS A PROBLEM WITH ELEMENTS IN MY AREA, BEING IN A SNOWBELT STATE, GETTING INTO WHEEL SPEED SENSOR AND BLOCKING SIGNAL. SAME EXACT SYMPTOMS AS LAST TIME, DIFFERENT DIAGNOSIS. NEITHER TIME DID THEY PLUG INTO MY TRUCK FOR CODES. BOTH TIMES, I HAVE TO OPEN MY WALLET FOR FAULTY PRODUCTS.
