BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR ON RURAL ROAD. ABLE TO STOP BY DOWNSHIFTING AND RUNNING OFF ROAD. BRAKE LINES HAD ROTTED OUT. DURING THIS REPAIR IT WAS FOUND THAT GAS LINE HAD ALSO ROTTED AND WAS LEAKING. TOTAL COST OF REPAIRS, NEARLY $2,000.00
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. AS SOON AS THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE DRIVER'S SEAT HEATED UP AUTOMATICALLY. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF, THE SEAT HEATER ACTIVATED ON HIGH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ON FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,647.
LOST BRAKES WHILE DRIVING IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD DUE TO RUSTED BRAKE LINE. HAD IT TOWED TO MY MECHANIC WHO DID AN INSPECTION AND SAID ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AT THE BRACKETS HOLDING THE LINES. MY MECHANIC IS IN THE PROCESS OF REPLACING THE BRAKE LINES. I TALKED TO SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE WITH THE SAME YEAR TRUCK AND BOTH HAD ALSO EXPERIENCED BRAKE LINE FAILURE FROM RUST. TRUCK HAS ONLY 20K MILES AND HAS ONLY BEEN IN THE SALT TWICE AS I HAD AN OLDER VEHICLE I USED WHEN IT SNOWED. GM NEEDS TO CORRECT THIS SAFETY DEFECT.
AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT COMING ON, HAVE NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT IN THIS TRUCK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE THE TODDLER WAS PLACED IN THE DRIVER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE, SHE TURNED THE KEY TO THE ACCESSORY POSITION. THE VEHICLE ROLLED DOWN THE HILL AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE TODDLER DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 215,000.
THERE WAS A RECALL IN 2011 ON THE RESISTOR AND CONNECTOR FOR THE FAN MOTOR AND THAT WAS REPLACED IN MY TRUCK THEN. I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE SAME PARTS AGAIN. AFTER HAVING A RECALL ON THESE PARTS WHY WOULD THEY GO OUT AGAIN IN SUCH A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH AND ATTEMPTING TO DECREASE IN SPEED, THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELED TO THE FLOORBOARD AND FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86,642.
BRAKE LINE FAILURE DUE TO EXCESSIVE CORROSION AS THE LINES LAY ON THE FRAME. LUCKILY, THE BREAK WAS AT HOME AND I WAS ABLE TO GET IT INTO THE SHOP FOR REPAIR. LESS THAN A MONTH LATER, ANOTHER LINE BROKE AS I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVE.
BRAKE LINE RUPTURE DO TO RUSTED LINES, SPEED 45 MPH NO BRAKES AT ALL AND USED EMERGENCY BRAKE TO FINALLY STOP ON SHOULDER OF ROAD.. BRAKE FLUID UNDER DRIVES SIDE DOOR NEAR THE FRAME.
I HAVE A HOME IN THE HILLS OF WEST VIRGINIA AND HAD JUST RETURNED FROM TOWN AFTER DRIVING UP AND DOWN LOCAL MOUNTAIN ROADS. I PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY WITHOUT INCIDENT. WHEN I STARTED THE TRUCK TO MOVE IT IN DRIVEWAY AND PRESSED ON THE BRAKE PEDDLE, THE PEDDLE WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR AND I WAS TOTALLY WITHOUT BRAKES. LUCKILY, I WAS ON A FLAT SURFACE AND USED MY EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP VEHICLE. WHEN I STEPPED ON THE BRAKES AGAIN, I NOTICED A STREAM OF BRAKE FLUID SQUIRTING OUT FROM THE AREA UNDER THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR. UPON FURTHER INVESTIGATION I REALIZED THAT ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES ALONG THE FRAME HAD FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. ONLY ONE OF THE 4 BRAKE LINES HAD FAILED, HOWEVER, THE ENTIRE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS RENDERED COMPLETELY INOPERABLE. ABSOLUTELY NO REDUNDANT BRAKING AVAILABLE, EXCEPT FOR THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. IF THIS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVE ON THE HIGHWAY OR DOWN THE MOUNTAIN, IT COULD HAVE BEEN CATASTROPHIC. THE TRUCK HAS NO VISIBLE BODY OR FRAME CORROSION. HOW COULD THE THE SAFETY-CRITICAL BRAKE LINES CORRODE WHEN THE REST OF THE VEHICLE IS IN GOOD SHAPE RUST-WISE? SEEMS GM HAS USED SUB-STANDARD BRAKE LINES IN THE VEHICLE. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND IT IS A WELL-DOCUMENTED PROBLEM THAT GM KNOWS ABOUT AND SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO ADDRESS.
THERE IS EXTREME FRAME RUST CAUSING THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT TO BECOME DETACHED FROM THE FRAME WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE HIGHWAY. FORTUNATELY THIS HAPPENED ON A SECONDARY ROAD IN SOUTH WEST VIRGINIA. THE SHOCK ABSORBER WAS THE ONLY THING THAT HELD THE SPARE TIRE MOUNT FROM COMING COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE TRUCK. AFTER INSPECTING THE FRAME, THERE IS EXCESSIVE RUST ON THE MAIN FRAME AND ONE OF THE CROSS MEMBERS IS NEARLY RUSTED THROUGH. THIS TRUCK IS NINE YEARS OLD AND ONLY HAS 63K MILES. I HAVE THE TRUCK AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR THEM TO SEE IF IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE I AM AWAITING TO HEAR FROM THEM TO SEE IF GM IS GOING TO HELP ME WITH THIS MATTER.
ONE BRAKE LINE BURST FROM BEING RUSTED OUT AND THE REMAINING 4 FRONT BRAKE LINES ARE IN BAD SHAPE AND NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE BRAKE LINE BURST WHILE I WAS PULLING MY BOAT TRAILER AND I NARROWLY AVOIDED AN ACCIDENT. I WAS IN A RESIDENTIAL AREA AND WAS ONLY GOING ABOUT 15MPH.AND WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK.
BAKE LINES FAILED AT 114874 MILES. HAD TO REPLACE BAKE LINES. 10/14/2015. HAD TO USE THE PARKING BAKE TO STOP THE TRUCK. LUCK I DID NOT RACK! THANK GOD.
THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD MULTIPLE BRAKE ISSUES SINCE NEW. FIRST OFF, IT GOES THROUGH FRONT BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS TOO FREQUENTLY. FIRST REPLACED AROUND 25K AND AGAIN AROUND 60K. THIS VEHICLE HAS MOSTLY BEEN USED FOR LONG HIGHWAY TRIPS, NY TO FL ETC., NOT AROUND TOWN. USED IN RURAL AREA. NEXT, SEVERAL BRAKES LINES HAVE BURST AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE LAST INCIDENT LUCKILY WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY. HAVING DUAL BRAKE CYLINDERS ON THESE TRUCKS DOES NOT SEEM TO HELP IF A BRAKE LINE BURSTS. I NEEDED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP IT ON ALMOST FLAT GROUND. A RECURRING PROBLEM IS WITH THE ABS. EVIDENTLY THEY RUST EASILY, ESPECIALLY IN SALT BELT STATES, THEN CORROSION ON THE SENSOR AND HUB CAUSES IT TO ACTIVATE FOR NO REASON. IT DOES NOT ACTIVATE THE COMPUTER CONTROL OR GIVE WARNING. IT HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. I HAD TO HAVE ONE FRONT HUB REPLACED IN 2013 AND ANOTHER IN 2014. NOW I AM HAVING TO REPLACE ONE OF THOSE AGAIN WITH THE DEALER RECOMMENDING TO REPLACE BOTH. THE COST IS OVER $750 PER SIDE. THERE WERE RECALLS ON PREVIOUS YEAR MODELS BUT NOT 2006. THIS IS RIDICULOUS AND THE BRAKE LINE ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON WITH CHEVROLET FOR A VERY LONG TIME. I HAD TO REPLACE MOST LINES ON MY 1996 SILVERADO. I CAN'T BELIEVE THAT NHSTA ALLOWS THIS TO GO ON YEAR AFTER YEAR. NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN BRAKING, NOTHING!
MY VEHICLE WITH 57,000 MILES HAD THE BRAKES GO OUT WHILE DRIVING WITHOUT WARNING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THE FRONT BRAKE LINES HAD RUSTED AND BROKE. I HAVE HAD THE WORK COMPLETED. I FEEL THIS IS A PRODUCT DEFECT FOR A LOW MILEAGE VEHICLE. IT IS VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND HAS VERY FEW MILES ON IT, AND I HAVE OWNED IT SINCE IT WAS NEW. I HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT WITH CHEVROLET AND THEY WILL NOT PROVIDE ME WITH ANY ANSWERS. THEY KEEP TELLING ME TO TAKE IT TO A DEALERSHIP, HOWEVER THE DEALERSHIP HAS TOLD ME THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO.

THE CONTACT ALSO INDICATED THAT THE BRAKE LINES PREMATURELY FRACTURED. VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC SIGNAL MY BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I DROVE MY VEHICLE SLOWLY HOME AND CHECKED BRAKE FLUID LEVEL. IT WAS LOW AND I TOPPED IT OFF. I TRIED THE BRAKES AGAIN AND ONCE AGAIN THE PEDAL WENT TO FLOOR. I WENT UNDER THE VEHICLE AND BRAKE FLUID WAS DRIPPING OFF THE CROSS MEMBER JUST BEHIND THE ENGINE. I COULD SEE THAT ALL THE BRAKE LINES WERE VERY RUSTY. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE TO BIG O TIRES. AFTER INSPECTION, IT WAS FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINE HAD RUSTED THROUGH AND ALL THE OTHERS WERE IN VERY BAD SHAPE AND I HAD ALL THE LINES REPLACED. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND GM HAS REDESIGNED THE LINES BUT, REFUSED TO RECALL AND REPLACE THE LINES. YOU NEED TO RESEARCH THIS PROBLEM FURTHER AND INSIST ON A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED. I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER AND AS INDICATED BY THE MILEAGE THE VEHICLE IS NOT DRIVEN THAT MUCH AND VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF.
TRAVELED TO STORE ABOUT FOUR BLOCKS AWAY FROM MY RESIDENCE. UPON RETURNING, I NOTICED MY BRAKES BARELY WORKING WHILE GOING DOWNHILL ON STREET. I HAD TO DOWNSHIFT AND USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO GET TO BOTTOM OF HILL. AT BOTTOM OF HILL IS MY DRIVEWAY. I WAS ABLE TO ENTER MY DRIVEWAY AND PARK. I COULD SEE A LIQUID DRIPPING RAPIDLY -- BRAKE FLUID-- UNDER THE TRUCK ABOUT THE MIDDLE OF THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. I OPENED THE HOOD AND CHECKED THE BRAKE FLUID LEVEL, ONLY A SMALL AMOUNT LEFT. WITHIN FIVE MINUTES THE REST OF THE BRAKE FLUID HAD DRAINED OUT WITH GRAVITY. THANKFULLY NO ONE WAS IN FRONT OF ME OR CROSSING THE STREET. NOTE: THERE WAS NO INDICATION ON DASH LIT PRIOR TO THIS HAPPENING. BRAKING LOSS HAPPENED FIRST. SEEMS LIKE BRAKE LINE JUST SPLIT/BURST.
LEAVING MY DRIVE WAY MY BRAKE PEDDLE WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. I HAD TO USE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP TRUCK. AFTER CHECKING FOR PROBLEM I FOUND THAT THE METAL BRAKE LINE FROM THE MASTER CYLINDER TO THE BRAKES HAD RUSTED THROUGH IN THE ENGINE AREA AND BRAKE FLUID WAS BEING SPRAYED ON THE MANIFOLD. (IF ENGINE WAS HOTTER THEIR COULD HAVE BEEN A FIRE.) TRUCK IS SITTING IN MY DRIVEWAY STILL NOT FIXED.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN I LOST POWER STEERING AND TRIED TO APPLY THE BRAKES AND I HAD NO BRAKES. GOOD THING I WASN'T ON THE INTERSTATE DOING 70MPH!!
I FILLED UP MY GAS TANK ON 8-10-2015 AND WAS DRIVING AT 70 MILES A HOUR WHEN THE ENGINE JUST SHUT DOWN. I RESTARTED IT AND IT STARTED MISSING OUR REAL BAD, I THOUGHT IT WAS MAYBE SOME BAD GAS. I NOTIFIED THE GAS STATION AND THEY STARTED CHECKING THE GAS OUT. WHILE THEY WERE DOING THAT, I TOOK IT TO A MECH. AS THEY SAID IT WAS PROBABLE THE GAS, PUT A CAN OF SEAFOAM AND TRY TO USE THE GAS UP. I DID AND IT KEPT GETTING WORSE , IT WOULD NOT IDLE AND KEPT STALLING OUT. I TOOK IT TO A MECH AND THEY FOUND A INTERMITTING WIREING PROBLEM. IT WAS A "IGNITION COIL WIRE HARNESS"TOOK TO DAYS TO FIND, THEY REPLACED IT AND RUNS GOOD NOW..ODOMETER READING WAS 55315. THEY CHECKED EVERY THING TWICE BEFORE THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM IN THE 2 DAYS THEY HAD IT.
TRAVELING 60 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND APPROACHED A RED TRAFFIC LIGHT. APPLIED THE BRAKES TO STOP WITH OTHER TRAFFIC. BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITH APPROXIMATELY 10% BRAKING POWER. NO WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH. FORTUNATELY THE TRAFFIC LIGHT TURNED GREEN AND TRAFFIC MOVED PRIOR TO A CRASH. CRASH WAS GUARANTEED IF TRAFFIC LIGHT HAD NOT CHANGED. BRAKE FLUID LEVEL FINE. BRAKE LINE UNDER DRIVERS SIDE RUSTED AND BURST. NO WARNING SIGNS.
I WAS DRIVING THE TRUCK AWAY FROM MY HOME , WHEN I STEPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL IT WENT TO THE FLOOR. I GOT THE TRUCK STOPPED WITH THE PARKING BRAKE. WHEN I INSPECTED THE BRAKE LINES THEY WERE ALL EXTREMELY RUSTY AND ONE HAD BURST. FLUID LEAKED OUT AND THERE WAS NO PEDAL AT ALL. THE BRAKES WERE GONE WITH NO WARNING.
MY WIFE AND I WERE TRAVELING A REMOTE AREA OF COLORADO WHEN WE HAD A TIRE GO FLAT. OK, I'LL JUST GET THE SPARE TIRE AND REPLACE IT. EASY RIGHT? NO! THIS CHEVROLET SPARE TIRE SECONDARY RELEASE WOULD NOT RELEASE NO MATTER WHAT I DID. I WORKED ON IT FOR HOURS AND SEVERAL OTHER DRIVERS STOPPED TO HELP. THERE IS NO WAY ANYONE COULD EVER RELEASE THIS TIRE. MY WIFE IS A TYPE 1 DIABETIC AND HERE WE ARE STRANDED IN THE MIDDLE OF NO WHERE FOR 6 HOURS AND SHE HAS NO FOOD. THIS COULD HAVE ENDED VERY BADLY. ALL BECAUSE OF THIS HORRIFIC POOR DESIGN. NOW AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT NEARLY EVERY CHEVY TRUCK HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY HAS THERE BEEN NO RECALL ON THIS? WE MADE IT BACK TO OUR HOME 10 HOURS AND $450 LATER. THE SPARE TIRE IS STILL STUCK EVEN AFTER THE LOCAL GARAGE WORKED ON IT ALSO SAYING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE MANUFACTURER USED AN INFERIOR STEEL MATERIAL TO MAKE THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER ACKNOWLEDGED THAT AN INFERIOR MATERIAL WAS USED, BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY HELP. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 3500. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKES FAILED. THE CONTACT REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
APPROACHING A STOP SIGN I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. UPON EXAMINATION I FOUND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS LEAKING FROM A RUSTED LINE AT THE READ RIGHT OF THE TRUCK WHERE THE BRAKE LINE FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE CONNECTS TO THE RUBBER HOSE THAT FEEDS BOTH SIDES OF THE REAR BRAKES. THE REST OF THE LINES LOOK GREAT BUT THAT MAIN FEED IS RUSTED AND FAILED. THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED TO ME IN ALL YEARS OWNING VEHICLES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING AT 20 MPH, THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY FAILED AND COULD NOT SHIFT INTO GEAR. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000.
WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY IN MY 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO WITH 26,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER, I ATTEMPTED A TRANSIENT LANE CHANGE WHILE TAKING EVASIVE ACTION IN ORDER TO AVOID A HAZARDOUS SITUATION. WHEN COUPLED WITH THE BRAKES I NOTICED LONGER THAN USUAL ENGAGEMENT. AS A RESULT, I WAS FORCED ONTO THE SHOULDER AND HAD TO USE MULTIPLE DOWNSHIFTS IN CONCERT WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A HALT. IT SOUNDED LIKE A TRAIN STOPPING ON RAILS. I PROCEEDED TO DRIVE HOME WITH HAZARDS ON,U NEVER EXCEEDING THIRD GEAR. THE FOLLOWING MORNING I NOTICED CLEAR OIL UNDERNEATH THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS VEHICLE AND A LESS EXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR EXTREMELY INJURED. LASTLY, I HAVE ALSO BEEN NOTICING INCONSISTENCY WITH STEERING RESISTANCE. SOMETIMES THE STEERING IS CONSIDERABLY LOOSER THAN AT OTHER TIMES. I HAVE DISMISSED THIS DISCONCERTING SENSATION BY ASSUMING IT IS WEATHER/HUMIDITY RELATED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 2500. WHILE PULLING INTO THE DRIVEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 7 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED TO THE FLOOR BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE CONTACT'S PORCH. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE BRAKE LINES CORRODED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE BRAKE LINE, SPRAYING OUT BRAKE FLUID ALL OVER THE SUSPENSION AND RELEASING ALL PRESSURE IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM. THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND I HAD TO STOP WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE INSTEAD.

THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE BRAKE LINES RUSTED AND CORRODED CAUSING THE BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 26,000.
DRIVING DOWNHILL ON MY (400' LONG) DRIVEWAY I DEPRESSED BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP AT THE BOTTOM BEFORE ENTERING TRAFIC. THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT COMPLETLEY TO THE FLOOR. LUCKILY THERE WERE NO CARS COMING. I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND STOP. I DISCOVERED BRAKE FLUID LEAKING FROM RUSTED LINES ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, MID-WAY DOWN THE LENGTH OF THE TRUCK. UPON FURTHUR INVESTICATION I NOTED ALL BRAKES LINES ARE SEVERLY RUSTED. BASED ON THE LOCATION AND MANNER THESE LINES ARE ROUTED, I WOULD NOT CLASSIFY THEM AS A MAINTENANCE ITEM. PLEASE HELP.
NO WARNING THAT ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE BRAKES. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME A BRAKE LINE HAS BLOWN OUT ON THIS TRUCK. I APPLIED THE BRAKE PEDAL TO NO RESISTANCE UNTIL THE PEDAL HIT SOMETHING METAL. THE TRUCK DID COME TO A GRADUAL STOP. THIS IS A WELL MAINTAINED TRUCK WITH JUST UNDER 39000 MILES ON IT. REGULAR NYS INSPECTIONS, OIL AND GREASED AND LOOKED OVER BY A MECHANIC EVERY 3000 MILES. THIS IS NOT A WEAR PROBLEM AS GM MAINTAINS.
HOLE CAME IN BREAK LINE DUE TO RUST. ALL MOST RAN THRU A BUSY INTERSECTION. ALSO HAD A BREAK LINE TO RUST INTO ON 4/10/15.
I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND IT WENT TO THE FLOOR AS THE STEEL LINE LEADING TOWARD THE REAR AXLE BURST, THE FAILURE OCCURRED NEAR THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WELL IN THE LINE FOLLOWING THE TOP OF THE LEFT FRAME RAIL TOWARD THE REAR AXLE. LUCKILY THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY WHEN IT HAPPENED, SO NO PERSONAL INJURY OCCURRED.THE BRAKE LINES HAVE BEEN INSPECTED AND PASSED ANNUALLY, WITH THE LAST INSPECTION TAKING PLACE EIGHT MONTHS AGO IN SEPTEMBER 2014.
WHILE SLOWING DOWN AND COMING TO A STOP THE AT A JUCTION THE OTHER DAY THE BRAKE PEDAL TRAVELLED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO PRESS THE FOOT BRAKE AND LOCK IT TO STOP THE TRUCK, SCARIEST THING EVER HAVE GONE THROUGH. NOT TO BE IN CONTROL OF A 1/2 TON TRUCK COMING TO A STOP. I THOUGHT FOR SURE I WAS GOING TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT. I FOUND IT HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THE BRAKE LINES COULD BE LEAKING BUT AFTER LOOKING AT THEM, SURE ENOUGH THEY WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS POURING OUT. IT TOOK ABOUT 10 MINUTES FOR ALL THE FLUID TO EMPTYED FROM THE MASTER CYCLINDER. AFTER SOME ONLINE RESEARCH I LEARNED THIS HAS BEEN A PROBLEM FOR GM AND THE CHEVY SILVERADO AND OTHER GM TRUCKS. BRAKES LINES RUSTING OUT AFTER AS LITTLE AS 4 YEARS. I CHECKED TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND LEARNED THAT IT'S A "REGULAR MAINTAINCE ISSUE". ALTHOUGH MANY 1000'S OF PEOPLE HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE OF BRAKE LINES RUSTING PREMATURLY. ESTIMATED COST TO REPLACE ALL BRAKE LINES $1500!!! SOME OF US JUST DONT HAVE THAT KIND OF MONEY TO SPEND BUT ILL HAVE TOSAFTLY COMES FIRST GM
I HAD ISSUES WITH STEERING CONTROL,SPECIALLY ON CURVES AT 40 T0 65 MILES P/H ON THE ROAD FROM BEGINNING OF THE PURCHASE.I HAVE BEEN TO CHEVY DEALER TO COMPLAIN ABOUT SAFETY ISSUE ON THE ROAD.BUT DEALER FINDS NO PHYSICAL DEFECT ON THE CAR.ON MAT 15 2015 FINALLY I LOST THE CONTROL OF STEERING WHEEL AND HIT THE SIDE WALK CURB AND BROKE FRONT AND REAR AXLES.LIKELY NO PERSONAL INJURY.I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY OF OTHER OWNERS IN THIS REGARD.I HAVE CHECKED OTHER RESOURCES TO FIND IF THERE ARE SIMILAR CASES LIKE MINE,AND SURPRISINGLY THERE ARE TOO MANY OF THEM. GM MAD A FAULTY BOLT DESIGN AND NO ONE IS HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE. I HAVE 3 BROKEN MANIFOLD BOLTS AND THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $2100 TO REPAIR. THERE ARE THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS OF OTHERS JUST LIKE ME WHO ARE HELPLESS. WHY ARE YOU AND THE EPA DOING NOTHING? THE VEHICLE CAN'T PASS EMISSIONS LIKE THIS!
MY LEFT FRONT WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED WHILE DRIVING. BRAKE SYSTEM WAS COMPROMISED. I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER AND STOP SAFELY, BUT BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND AS THEY SHOULD. MOREOVER, THERE WAS NO INDICATION THAT THE WHEEL BEARING WAS FAILING, AND I AM QUITE AWARE OF WHAT THIS SOUNDS LIKE BECAUSE THIS WILL BE THE FOURTH TIME I HAVE REPLACED THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY ON THE LEFT SIDE. I HAVE REPLACED THE RIGHT HUB ASSEMBLY TWICE. IN ALL PREVIOUS TIMES, I HEARD A SLIGHT WHIRLING NOISE OR AT WORSE SLIGHT GRINDING, WHICH WOULD LEAD ME TO INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT BEFORE FAILURE. THIS TIME IT FAILED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. I BELIEVE GM HAS MADE A SERIOUS DESIGN AND/OR QUALITY ERROR IN THIS TRUCK. THIS SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED BECAUSE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM.

BRAKE LINE RUPTURE RESULTING IN IMMEDIATE BRAKE FAILURE WITHOUT WARNING. PARALLEL PARKING A 2006 SILVERADO WHEN WE ENCOUNTERED A COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE AND NEARLY STRUCK ANOTHER PARKED VEHICLE. BRAKE PETAL DEPRESSED COMPLETELY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT WARNING. STEERED TRUCK TOWARD CURB TO FULLY STOP BEFORE STRIKING OTHER VEHICLE. IMMEDIATE INSPECTION REVEALED BRAKE LINE RUPTURE ON DRIVERS SIDE OF VEHICLE IN UNDERCARRIAGE AREA NEAR BACK OF DRIVERS SEAT. SIGNIFICANT LOSS OF BRAKE FLUID AND COMPLETE BRAKE FAILURE. FORTUNATELY TRAVELING LESS THAN 5 MPH - FIVE MINUTES EARLIER WE WERE TRAVELING AT SPEEDS OF 70 MPH ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC EVENT HAD IT OCCURRED ON THE INTERSTATE OR THE OFFRAMP. VEHICLE PASSED A VIRGINIA STATE SAFETY INSPECTION THREE WEEKS EARLIER. GM OR NHTSA SHOULD WARN GM OWNERS TO CHECK THEIR BRAKE LINES AND ALSO CONSIDER A RECALL. *TR
I WAS POSITIONING MY CHEVY SILVERADO 2500 YEAR 2006 TO HOOK UP MY TRAVEL TRAILER RV. AS I WAS BACKING UP TO LINE UP THE HITCH TO THE RV BALL THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR AND I LOST ALL BRAKING. I HAD TO PUT THE GEAR SHIFT IN PARK TO STOP THE SLIGHT ROLL. VEHICLE DEVELOPED A GAS LINE LEAK, AND UPON INSPECTION, DISCOVERED THAT ALL FUEL AND BRAKE LINES ON VEHICLE HAVE EXTENSIVE CORROSION AND ARE IN NEED OF REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR ARE IN NEAR NEW CONDITION, THE ISSUE WITH THE BRAKE AND GAS LINES IS CLEARLY A METALLURGICAL ISSUE AND TO THE EXTENT THIS PROBLEM IS, IS NOT A NORMAL MAINTENANCE ISSUE. THERE HAS BEEN EXTENSIVE REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM AND IT PUTS LARGE NUMBERS OF CONSUMERS AT RISK. THERE IS NO WAY THAT A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE SHOULD REQUIRE REPAIR COSTS IN EXCESS OF $3000.00 FOR THIS TYPE OF SAFETY ISSUE.
