2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500 CLASSIC. WHEN I STARTED MY TRUCK THIS MORNING, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. BRAKE FLUID WAS ALL OVER THE DRIVEWAY. ONE OF THE BRAKE LINES HAD RUPTURED BECAUSE IT WAS RUSTED. THANK GOD I WASN'T DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE BRAKE LINE FAILED. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT GM AND NHTSA HAVE LONG BEEN AWARE OF THIS CRITICAL SAFETY PROBLEM. WHY HASN'T THERE BEEN A RECALL ISSUED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS APPLIED HOWEVER FAILED TO RESPOND AND DEPRESSED TO THE FLOORBOARD. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED OR INFORMED OF THE FAILURE.THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THE BRAKE PEDAL WOULD DEPRESS TO THE FLOORBOARD WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS WITHOUT WARNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY REPLACED THE BRAKE CALIPERS, TWO BRAKE LINES AND THE BRAKE PADS. DESPITE THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RETURNED SOON AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CONTACT RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE SAME INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC BLED THE BRAKE LINE AND RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. ON THE THIRD VISIT, THE CONTACT HAD THE MASTER CYLINDER, THE TWO FRONT BRAKE LINES AND A BRAKE CALIPERS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 162,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BRAKE LINE OF THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND FRACTURED. THE FAILURE CAUSED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO WEBER CHEVROLET CREVE COEUR (12015 OLIVE BLVD, CREVE COEUR, MO 63141, (314) 567-3300) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENTIRE BRAKE LINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE REPAIR WOULD COST $3,000. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON AMONG MANY OF THE SAME CHEVROLET VEHICLES. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED IN 2012 AND THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 105,082. *TT CONSUMER PURCHASED THE TRUCK NEW AND NOTICE UNDERCARRIAGE WAS RUSTING. CONSUMER SPRAY PAINTED THE HITCH. VEHICLE'S BRAKE LINES WERE RUSTING AND CONSUMER HAD NO IDEA UNTIL IT RUPTURED AND BRAKE FLOWED OVER THE DRIVEWAY. *JB
ALL BRAKE LINES ARE ERODING, RUSTING OUT TO THE POINT WHERE THEY HAVE TO BE REPLACED...HAD A BRAKE LINE TO THE REAL WHEELS BLOW OUT ON ME AS AS WAS LEAVING A BANK I DO MY BUSINESS WITH. HAD TO REPLACE A SECTION OF IT.UPON INSPECTION OF THE OTHER LINES THEY ARE ALL RUSTED TO THE POINT THE IT'S JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THEY FAIL. VEHICLE HAD 75000 MILES WHEN THIS HAPPENED, IT NOW HAS 80000 MILES ON IT.
BRAKE LINES RUSTED, RESULTING IN LOSS OF BRAKES. BRAKE LINE RUNNING FROM ABS UNIT TO REAR BRAKES RUSTED AND BLEW OUT RIGHT OVER THE READ DIFFERENTIAL. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION WHEN THE BRAKE LINE BUST.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER WAS LEAKING INTO THE BRAKE BOOSTER. BOTH COMPONENTS WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 118,000.
BRAKES FAILED AT STOP SIGN. GOT TRUCK BACK HOME AND IT HAS FAULTY BRAKE LINES
WAS DRIVING WHEN A VEHICLE PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE VEHICLE SLOWED HOWEVER DID NOT STOP. AFTER THIS THE BRAKE PEDAL DID NOT FEEL RIGHT. UPON INSPECTING THE BRAKES MYSELF I DETERMINED THAT A BRAKE LINE FAILED. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE HE PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THAT THIS IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS AND THAT ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES SHOULD BE REPLACED. THE LINES ARE STEEL AND RUST. THE BILL WOULD BE APPROX. $1,000.00 TO REPAIR!!! IT'S A NICE TRUCK HOWEVER I MAY NOT PURCHASE ANOTHER GM VEHICLE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND GM NOT STANDING BEHIND IT AND RECALLING THESE TO HAVE THE LINES REPLACED WITH STAINLESS.
BRAKE LINES ARE STARTING TO RUST AND BLOW. THIS SHOULD NOT BE DOING THIS AT 80,00 MILES. TRUCK IS VERY RARELY DRIVEN IN THE SNOW. AND SALT. I TOW ALOT AND AM AFRAID THEY WILL BLOW WHEN TOWING MY CAMPER WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK
WHEN GOING AT SLOW SPEED 10MPH OR LESS. THE FRONT ANTI LOCK BREAKS KICK IN AND YOU FEEL AS IF IT WILL NOT STOP. THIS HAPPENS ALL THE TIME. THERE IS A SAFETY BULLETIN OUT ABOUT THIS. WHEN I ASKED CHEVY WHAT THEY WOULD DO ABOUT IT I WAS TOLD NOTHING. I PAYED TO HAVE IT FIXED. THIS WAS AN ON GOING ISSUE NOT A ONE TIME DEAL.
WHEN STOPPING QUICKLY TO AVOID A DEER, THE BRAKE LINE LEADING TO THE REAR WHEELS FAILED. LUCKILY I DID NOT HIT THE DEER BUT IF IT WAS PEDESTRIAN OR ANOTHER VEHICLE LATER IN THE TRIP THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN FATALITY. THERE ARE NUMEROUS REPORTS OF THESE RUSTY BRAKE LINES FAILING. MY TRUCK 8 YEARS OLD WITH <72,000 MILES. I LIVE IN THE VERY BOTTOM OF THE "SNOW BELT". MY MECHANIC SAYS HE SEES MULTIPLES OF THESE EVERY MONTH. HE HAS A NOTE ATTACHED TO THE LIFT FOR DIRECTIONS ON CONNECTIONS BECAUSE HE DOES IT SO OFTEN. I LOST ALL BRAKE FLUID TO THE GROUND AND HAD NO BRAKES! I HAD A 12,000 # TRAILER BEHIND ME. THANKFULLY THIS TRAILER HAS GREAT BRAKES OF ITS OWN OR I WOULD HAVE NEVER STOPPED (WAS ON A DOWNHILL)
WHILE BACKING IN MY DRIVEWAY, APPLIED BRAKES AND PEDAL WENT TO THE FLOOR. THE BRAKE LINE TO THE RF WHEEL HAD RUSTED/CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT IT FAILED. ALL OF THE BRAKE LINES ARE IN THE SAME CONDITION AND WILL REQUIRE REPLACEMENT.

DRIVING SLOWLY UP TO A STOP SIGN COMING OUT OF THE TARGET STORE IN SHOREVIEW, MINNESOTA. THE ABS ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM ACTIVATED AND MADE THE TRUCK DIFFICULT TO STOP. THE VEHICLE WENT THROUGH THE STOP SIGN BUT DID NOT COLLIDE WITH ANY ONCOMING TRAFFIC. ACCORDING TO MANY OTHER INCIDENCES DESCRIBED ONLINE, THE EXACT SAME THING IS HAPPENING TO OTHERS. IN THE NORTHERN "SALT BELT", RUST AND CORROSION GATHERS AROUND THE FRONT BRAKE SENSORS AND PULLS THEM UPWARDS SENDING THE WRONG SIGNAL TO THE COMPUTER. THERE IS ALREADY A RECALL ON SOME CHEVROLET TRUCKS PRE-2005 FOR THE VERY SAME REASON. THIS IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION AND PREVENTABLE IF GM WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM ONCE AND FOR ALL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE APPROACHING A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE EMERGENCY BRAKES HAD TO BE USED IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. AFTER INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THERE WAS BRAKE FLUID LEAKAGE AND FOUND THAT THE BRAKE LINES WERE CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,707.
ABS UNIT ON FRONT BRAKES MALFUNCTIONS AT LOW SPEED. THE ABS SENSORS MISTAKENLY RELEASES BRAKE PRESSURE, AS VEHICLE SLOWS TO A STOP, THINKING THE WHEEL IS SKIDDING. THIS RELEASE OF BRAKE PRESSURE LENGTHENS THE STOPPING DISTANCE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A LOW SPEED CRASH.
BRAKE LINES HAD CORRODED AND A PIN HOLE LEAK ALLOWED BRAKE FLUID TO LEAK OUT OF THE SYSTEM WHEN THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED. BRAKING ABILITY WAS GREATLY REDUCED. I WAS TOWING A BOAT AT THE TIME, MAKING THE FAILURE EVEN MORE DANGEROUS. INSPECTION SUBSEQUENTLY SHOWED THAT ALL FOUR LINES WHICH RUN FORWARD FROM THE ABS MODULE TO THE MASTER CYLINDER HAD SEVERAL AREAS OF SEVERE CORROSION. ALL THE LINES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE USE OF CARBON STEEL BRAKE LINES WAS A POOR DESIGN DECISION. GM HAS SUBSEQUENTLY IN 2008 UPGRADED THE MATERIALS OF CONSTRUCTION, BUT OWNERS OF OLDER VEHICLES ARE AT RISK, AND SUBJECT TO AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR BILL.
THE BRAKES FAILED DUE TO RUSTED LINES. THERE WAS NO PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THE VEHICLE NEEDED TO BE STOPPED USING PARKING BRAKE. MECHANIC SAID THAT THIS IS NOT THE FIRST ONE HE HAS SEEN. EXTREMELY UNSAFE CONDITION. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE TIRE AND WHEEL HAD BECOME DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE WHEEL HUB ASSEMBLY FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,502.
