The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while at a stoplight, the driver’s side front air bag deployed without warning or impact. There were no injuries reported. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 21V050000 (Air Bags). The local dealer was contacted and referred the contact to the manufacturer for assistance. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and opened a case. The failure mileage was approximately 144,705.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. While driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal, pungent odor coming from the vehicle. The contact was unsure if any warning lights were illuminated. On a separate occasion, the vehicle drove roughly with an abnormal sound coming from the engine. Additionally, the engine was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The contact had to add seven quarts of oil for every 3,000 miles driven. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the Active Fuel Management (AFM) system had failed. The engine was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Just few minutes ago around 5:45 PM, Monday, September 8th 2025. I started my engine with the remote start in my drive way. After about 30 seconds there was a series of 3 or 4 violent explosions each with a 1 or two second interval. The driver side, passenger side and both side air bags deployed fracturing my windshield and causing other potential internal damage to the passenger compartment. I feel very fortunate that I wasn't seated in the vehicle at the time as I'm sure I could have been severely injured or potentially killed. I had taken the car in for an air-bag recall a couple of years ago at Good Chevrolet in Renton, WA.
No crank no start however engine just shit down while driving immediately lost all control of vehicle! Luckily I had just pulled off highway! No warning whatsoever it just happened out of no where now won’t start and has a u0100 code
Bottom base The base won’t stay locked. Car seat turns halfway and won’t turn anymore. No
The Active Fuel Management Lifters can cause catastrophic failures by getting stuck in the closed position causing low oil pressure, misfiring, and ticking due to the entire AFM system making the camshaft and valve train wear faster. It is available for inspection upon request. My safety is put at risk due to the possibility of causing accidents or leaving me stranded in an extreme environment. Issues with AFM (Active Fuel Management) systems in certain GM vehicles have been widely reported and confirmed by both dealers and independent service centers. Specifically, AFM lifter failures and related issues, particularly in older models, are common diagnose The vehicle component has not been inspected by anyone. There was a low oil pressure warning light along with lifter tick prior to failure and first appeared at around 160k miles.
I haven’t experienced any issues yet

The dealer and the manufacturer were not contacted.
Cylinder 6 misfire. The mechanics have replaced everything that could be triggering the cylinder 6 misfire and still it is having problems they said the only way to fix it is to replace the engine but I should not have to replace an engine with low miles and that has been babied. I have also looked on multiple sites with people who own the same truck and all have the same exact problem with the same cylinder. Something needs to be done about this issue especially if it’s a reoccurring one, either have a recall on it and fix it or something.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the RPMs increased rapidly; however, the vehicle lost significant motive power, after which the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to pull to the shoulder of the roadway, where the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed a failure with the engine, requiring that the engine be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 185,000.
The truck has the 5.3l engine which is DOD equipped and the DOD system causes lifters to fail and can ultimately destroy the engine while driving I had a lifter go bad and it causes the truck to run rough and smoke it's a major issue that happens in the 5.3l v8 engines something needs to be done cause it's causing major problems for any truck equipped with the DOD system.
The Trucks equipped with DOD system also known as Active Fuel Management in the V6 and the V8 engines cause the truck to consume more oil and cause lack of oil to the lifters which then fail and cause the truck to lose power and smoke really bad and can cause the truck to die while driving and when you love engine power it can cause an accident it's also can cause the more internal engine problems I have reported this issue before for and nothing has happened then problem needs to be fixed is a design flaw and can cause an accident which could also get someone killed along with the bad airbag on passenger side GM needs to take responsibility and fix this issue please for the safety of anyone who drives the the vehicles with the V6 or 5.3l V8 please get this issue recalled.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 45 MPH, the passenger’s side frontal air bag and driver’s side steering wheel air bag deployed without impact. The service air bag warning light was illuminated. Additionally, the front windshield was cracked due to the air bag deployment. The contact stated that no injuries were sustained. The contact stated that the air bags were previously replaced under an unknown recall. The contact drove the vehicle to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The local dealer was made aware of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 186,000.
The Keyless Entry Receiver(GM) Radio Module in my 2007 Chevy Silverado is retaining moisture. It caused my Tire Pressure Monitoring System to fail eventually causing a blow out on the highway. I believe moisture from the third headlight above rear window is allowing moisture to drip into the Keyless Entry Receiver. There are many accounts of this failing, I’m not sure why this has not been recalled. I nearly died.
The contact owns a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the contact stated that another vehicle crashed into her vehicle and damaged the front driver's side of the vehicle. The air bags deployed aggressively and emitted an unknown substance. The contact stated a police report had been filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. The contact did receive medical attention. The contact stated that she sustained injury to her shoulder and bruises to her face and neck from the air bag. The contact stated the fumes from the air bag continue to give her headaches. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 220,000.

MY FRAME RAIL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IS CORRODING AWAY TO THE POINT WHERE IT IS NO LONGER SAFE TO DRIVE / I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO THE GM DEALERSHIP TO VERIFY THE CONCERN / I HAVE CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ABOUT THIS CONCERN AND WAS GIVEN THE RUN AROUND / I HAVE A VEHICLE THAT HAS COSTED MY TIME AND MONEY TO PURCHASE / AND MAINTAIN / THIS TRUCK RUNS GREAT AND SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF LASTING MANY MORE YEARS - EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT THE FRAME RAIL IS CORRODING AWAY IN THE SAME SPOT ON THIS TRUCK AS ON OTHER GM TRUCKS FROM THIS YEAR AND MODEL RANGE . I BELIEVE GM DESIGNED A FAULTY FRAME/ I BELEIVE THE FRAMES ON THESE TRUCKS WERE NEVER TREATED TO RESIST THE ELEMENTS /
When I took my 2007 Chevrolet Silverado with 36,000iles for inspection I was informed that two monitors were not functioning. These were the O2 sensor and the O2 sensor heater. Everything else passed. I was told that these may have been subject to a recall.
Driver air bag deployed while the vehicle was parked on the driveway and it is available for inspection. The air bag deployed while vehicle was parked, this air bag could of deployed on the highway/road at any given moment and would have been a cause of an accident. This problem was reported to Fiesta Chevrolet Edinburg Tx dealer since 5/16 , dealer has not returned the call nor inspected this issue. No warning message displayed before the driver air bag deployed.

My vehicle will just start up sometimes on its own with or without key in ignition, as well as set alarm off. Also, it constantly feels like the brakes are on at all times. It feels like it drags alot. And it feels like it doesn't properly have enough power when accelerating.
My father purchased this truck brand new and inherited it from my father when he passed away. The truck has just under 100,000 miles on it and the service trailer brake system light came on in the dash. I have tried to reset it and it still comes right back. The truck hasn't ever been used commercially only as personal use. It is the only vehicle that I own and I don't know what to do I am disabled and I need help
Drivers seat is broken and now lays straight back it started 2 years ago and is worse now it will not stay up

Power surges sometime everything shuts off while driving leaving no brakes, steering, or acceleration. Other times there is a no start due to no power or the instrument cluster goes haywire. Reacquiring problem with no answers why. Others have had the same problem. Scary driving fine at 60 with kids in the back and all of a sudden you lose control of your truck unexpectedly for the first time. No Warnings or OBD2 codes.
2007 Silverado 1500. Has had a situation where truck acts a dead battery or no battery in the truck. Conditions are no start, key fob will remote start truck then truck dies all electrical in truck works. Have dad CD player shoveling cds when no key in truck. Air and heat switch’s back and forth. Door locks cycle up and down. Have to reset radio and clock after the power failed. This is not from a dead battery. All I do to reset it all is to put a battery booster to battery terminals and switch booster on and off. Truck is back to normal. Most recent advent was all this at 1 time. Door locks cycle, radio turns on and off, ac changes to heat, low fuel and seat belt alarms start sounding, instrument cluster act irrationally, speed odometer goes from 20 to60 back and forth with truck cutting off at 20 and powering to 60. After several miles of driving everything is back to normal and I drive straight to my mechanic. Cut the truck off and Bingo, acts like there is not a battery in the truck. Nothing at all electrical. Total silence. I have had minor electrical since truck was almost new. I always carry a booster pack and it worked to start truck and get me home. Now for what my mechanic found after my last disaster. There is a high amperage fuse block located under your fuse box in the engine bay. There is 2 threaded studs for wires that feed your trucks electrical. Studs had never had ant nuts on them to hold the wires secure and after 14 years of total aggravation and fear of an accident or fire. I hope truck is fixed for good. GM dealers would blow me off with any excuse why they couldn’t find a problem. They wanted to sell batteries , Pcms and ecms. The reason this becomes a safety problem is a chance of total power failing while in traffic being rear ended or worse. There really should be a recall for these trucks and checked. I’ve read hundreds of remarks from people with these same issues. I hope this helps. I am thankful to have a mechanic who will research.

What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Driver side seat belt tongue an buckle. How was your safety or the safety of others put at risk? Many drivers will continue long travels home or to a dealer rather than contact a tow truck. A decision that can risk their lives. Has the problem been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center? No Has the vehicle or component been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others? No Were there any warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure, and when did they first appear? No I meet with solid mechanical resistance when I attempt to insert my driver side seat belt tongue into it's buckle. I can not detect any foreign object that would prevent the seat belt from latching. Now I cannot legally drive my vehicle in the state of Illinois without a secure seat belt. I plan to call my local dealer in the morning.

Returning from vacation on Oct.31 when a explosion in the cab like a shotgun occurred with smoke on the side of both front seats. Emergency lights & OnStar activated. Pulled over to side of road to checked out truck and found front seat belts locked but everything else ok. The service air bags light was on prior to incident. Was traveling about 45 MPH on good road. Scared my wife so bad had she been driving could have caused a wreck. Vehicle is scheduled to be looked at by Champion Chevrolet in Reno Nevada on 11/11/2021. Have read that this has happened with other 2007 Chevy Silverado’s and about the same mileage 69,000. Can’t find any recall for the problem but believe it could cause a death under the right conditions like if happened in heavy traffic. It shakes you up for awhile. If this has been reported before why hasn’t a recall been issued? Hope this report helps prevent any serious future incidents.
Dash cracking, fuse box continues to throw codes, front end problems
Problems with a throttle control correlation between throttle pedal and throttlebody I have been to several places and the issue is not resolved. I have replaced everything on the throttle control system and I can’t get an answer from anybody what’s going on

While replacing the faulty Takata air bag on my 2007 Chevrolet Siverado the dealer Autonation Chevrolet Arrowhead 9055 W. Bell Rd. Peoria, AZ they completely destroyed my dashboard. The dealer saying it was no fault of theirs. Now I am worried if the airbags deploy that myself and my passenger will receive serious injuries due the the pastic parts of the dashboard deploying with the airbag
I had the Takata airbag on the passenger side replaced as per your warning (NHTSA). My dash board was intact and had no cracks at the time of the repair. After the repair my dash board was completely destroyed. Dealer informed me it was not their responsiblity and caused no safety issues. Now I am concerned that if the airbag is deployed that the dash board will deploy with it, injuring the driver and passenger. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE and GM knows this.
