TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SPARE TIRE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE LOWERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE VIA E-MAIL. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 87,000.
DASH IS CRACKING IN MULTIPLE AREAS ESPECIALLY AROUND AIRBAG AREA ON PASSENGER SIDE. THIS CAN POTENTIALLY CAUSE ISSUES OF AIRBAG DEPLOYS.
MY TRUCK DASH STATED CRACKING IN 2012 AND JUST KEEP CRACKING ALL OVER ,NOW I HAVE SPOKE TO MY GM DEALER AND SHE SAYS THERE NOTHING THEY CAN DO .BUT IF A AIRBAG WAS TO DEPLOY AT OVER 200MPH THE DASH WILL COME FLYING WITH IT NOW I AM NOT THE ONLY PERSON HAVING THIS ISSUE I NO THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE I WAS A FIRE FIGHTER FOR 17 YEARS AND NO THE DANGERS OF FLYING OBJECTS .I JUST THINK IF THE LEMON LAW SAY IF THE SAME THING BRAKE MORE THEN THREE TIME THE LAW COVERS IT BUT SHOULD I HAVE TO REPLACE MY DASH 3 TIME TO GET THEM TO FIX WHAT IS TO BE A BIG PROBLEM FOR ME AND OTHER GM CUSTOMERS?
VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN HEAD ON COLLISION THAT TOTALED IT. OTHER VEHICLE WAS AN OLDER MODEL VAN, DO NOT KNOW EXTENT OF DAMAGES TO IT. MY CONCERN IS THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY WAS TOLD BY GM THAT CRASH DID NOT MEET CRITERIA FOR DEPLOYMENT!!!!! A HEAD ON COLLISION AT 50 MPH THAT TOTALED 2500 SERIES CHEVY TRUCK. HARD FOR ME TO BELIEVE I NOW OWN A 2008 CHEVY 1500 SERIES , DO I NEED TO CONCERNED? *TR
DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAUGHT ON FIRE WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND RUNNING. BURNED WIRE AND SMOKE EVIDENT. *TR
RAILROAD HYRAIL VEHICLE EQUIPPED, AFTER MARKET, WITH HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WHICH ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE ON RAILROAD TRACKS. ONCE HYRAIL (FLANGED) WHEELS ARE RETRACTED, THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED OVER THE HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC ROADS LIKE ANY OTHER VEHICLE. ON 7/27/12 NEAR EAGLE NEST, AZ A RAILROAD EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING VEHICLE ON THE RAILROAD TRACKS WHEN IT STRUCK A STANDING TRAIN AT 38 MPH. AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND RAIL EMPLOYEE WAS KILLED. CONCERN IS THAT THE INSTALLATION OF HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MIGHT BE IMPACTING THE AIRBAG SENSOR. THE HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES EXTEND APPROX. ONE FOOT OF STEEL FRAMEWORK AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS. THE PLACEMENT OF THESE ASSEMBLIES MIGHT INADVERTENTLY BE AFFECTING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IN CRASHES ON THE RAILROAD TRACK AND ON PUBLIC ROADS. *TR
BOUGHT THIS TRUCK USED HAD 54000 MILES ON IT. STILL HAD WARRANTY LEFT ON IT. AT 71000 MILES STARTED USING 1 TO 2 QTS OF OIL BETWEEN CHANGES. THE DEALER HAS DONE ALL CHANGES ON THIS TRUCK EVERY 3000 TO 4000 MILES. ASKED THEM WHY IT STARTED USING OIL AND THEY SAID THEY CHECKED AND COULD NOT FIND ANY LEAKS AND DIDN'T KNOW WHY IT WAS USING OIL. HAVE HAD TO ADD 1 OR 2 QTS BETWEEN CHANGES EVERY SINCE THE TRUCK NOW HAS 107000 MILES ON IT. THEIR ARE HUNDREDS OF REPORTS OF THIS PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET. NEED HELP IN GETTING THIS REPAIRED. *TR
AFTER BUYING MY TRUCK I NOTICED A "TICK" NOISE FROM THE EXHAUST ON MY TRUCK. AFTER TAKING MY TRUCK TO THE SHOP I WAS TOLD THAT MY EXHAUST BOLTS INTO THE ENGINE WERE BROKEN. THIS IN HAND MADE ME FAIL THE EMISSION TEST AND COSTING ME ALOT OF MONEY. AFTER RESEARCH IT IS STATED IN MANY PLACES THAT THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE WITH THESE CHEVY MODELS, AND CHEVY REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT POLLUTING THE ENVIRONMENT AND COSTING IT OWNERS MONEY IN THING THAT SHOULD NOT BREAK EVER. *TR
VEHICLE TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP TO HAVE CAMPAIGN WORK DONE ( 09184A OCT. 09 SDM CORROSION IN STATES HAVING SNOWFALL AND SALT APPLIED TO ROADS) AFTER RECEIVING NOTICE IN MAIL. NO PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. 2 WEEKS AFTER WORK, VEHICLE (MULTIPLE TIMES) STARTED EXHIBITING INTERMITTENT SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT...ON FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN OFF. AROUND OCT. 2ND, 2012, SERVICE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND NOW STAYS ON UPON START UNTIL VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF. GM AND DEALER CONTACTED AND RECOMMENDED I HAVE SYSTEM DIAGNOSTIC DONE...AT MY COST ($90) TO DETERMINE PROBLEM. I OPENED A CASE FILE WITH GM (# [XXX]) AND WILL TAKE MY VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO DOWNLOAD CODES AND DETERMINE WHICH ITEM IS FAULTY. I WOULD HAVE THE DEALERSHIP THAT DID THE WORK PERFORM THIS, HOWEVER I HAVE HAD ISSUES WITH THEM IN THE PAST REGARDING "NEEDED" REPAIRS. I SUGGESTED THAT IF THEY RUN THE DIAGNOSTICS IN MY PRESENCE AND THE CODES COME UP WITH SOMETHING OTHER THAN THE SDM I WOULD GLADLY PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR, HOWEVER, IF THE CODE CAME UP WITH THE SDM BEING THE PROBLEM, THEY WOULD PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC, REPLACEMENT, AND RENTAL IF NEEDED.....THEY WOULD NOT ACCEPT THIS. THE SDM IN MY VEHICLE IS PART NUMBER 25823557...GM HAS NOW SUBSTITUTED IT WITH PART NUMBER 22759740. I OWN THIS VEHICLE (NO LOAN/LIENS) AND OTHER THAN THIS ISSUE HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH IT....THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN APPROX. 15K PER YEAR, MOSTLY TO AND FROM WORK AND I FOLLOW ALL RECOMMENDED SERVICE INTERVALS. IN JULY, 2012 THE DASH IN MY TRUCK CRACKED AROUND THE AIRBAG. I CONTACTED GM WHERE THEY TOLD ME IT WAS MY FAULT AND CLEANING PRODUCTS CAUSED IT. THEY WOULD ONLY COVER THE COST OF THE PART, BUT NOT LABOR WHICH WAS MORE THAN THE COST OF THE PRODUCT. I REFUSED TELLING THEM IT WAS THEIR ISSUE AS THERE ARE LOTS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT IT. IT WAS LATER PROVEN THAT CLEANING PRODUCTS DO NOT CAUSE THE CRACKS. I ASKED GM AGAIN TO REPLACE THE DASH AFTER SEEING PEOPLE HAVE BEEN INJURED FROM PIECES OF THE DASH AFTER AN ACCIDENT. GM STILL CLAIMS THERE IS NO SAFETY ISSUES WITH THE DASH. THAT HAS BEEN PROVEN FALSE AND THERE ARE 10S OF THOUSANDS OF THESE TRUCKS WITH THE ISSUE.
THE DASH BOARD CRACKED AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. I WOULD THINK THIS WOULD AFFECT HOW THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. GM WILL NOT REPLACE THE DASH, ONLY COVER HALF THE EXPENSE. THEY KNOW THIS IS AN ISSUE AS THEY HAVE ADDED REINFORCEMENTS IN THE AREA OF THE DASH THE CRACKS. *TR
DASH CRACKED AT END OF 2010,DEALER REPLACED DASH,THEN 2 YEARS LATER IT CRACKED AGAIN ,DEALER SAIL OUT OF WARRANTEE SINCE THEN IT HAS MORE CRACKS,TRUCK IS GARAGE KEPT IN LIKE NEW CONDITION WITH ONLY 62100 MILES,WHAT IS THE PROBLEM VERY POOR PART DESIGN,ALSO CAR HAS NEVER BEEN IN ACCIDENT
DRIVING WITH AIR CONDITION ON THE DRIVER SIDE WILL START BLOWING OUT HOT AIR, PASSENGER SIDE COLD AIR. SPEED DOES NOT MATTER. IT MAY HAPPEN ONCE OR TWICE IN 5 MILES OR IT MAY GO SEVERAL HUNDRED BEFORE IT HAPPENS AGAIN. IF I TURN THE ENGINE OFF THEN BACK ON IT WORKS RIGHT UNTIL THE NEXT TIME. I THOUGHT IT WAS ONLY MY TRUCK UNTIL L LOOKED AT SOME ONLINE STUFF, A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY TRUCKS WITH DUAL AIR CONTROLS. THE DEALERS WILL NOT ADDRESS IT BECAUSE THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT. I DON'T THINK THEY BELIEVE ME OR THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND A VERY SIMPLE PROBLEM. THANKS MARK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, BURNING FUMES WERE EMITTED INTO THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT AFTER PULLING OVER, SHE OBSERVED SMOKE AND FLAMES COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO FILED A CLAIM ON THE CONTACT'S BEHALF AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD CONTACT HER AT A LATER DATE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 85,000.
THE DASHBOARD HAS CRACKED RUNNING FROM THE CORNER OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. THIS HAPPENED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND NOT IN USE. I AM VERY CONCERNED THAT A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE HAS A DEFECT SUCH AS THIS IN THE LOCATION THAT IT DOES. I FEAR THAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT AND DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAG, THE ALREADY CRACKED PLASTIC OF THE DASHBOARD COULD BECOME A DANGEROUS PROJECTILE. *TR
TAKATA HAS A RECALL ON THE AIRBAGS AND THERE IS NO REMEDY LISTED. WARNING LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON.
WHEN YOU START THE VEHICLE THEIR IS A BLUE/BLACK PUFF OF EXHAUST. THE VEHICLE NOW IS USING OIL VERY BADLY AND LEAVES OIL SPOT WHENEVER IT PARKED. *TR

THE DASH IS CRACKED AND A HUGE PIECE OF THE DASH HAS FALLEN INTO THE DASH AREA. THESE DASHES ARE DANGEROUS! THE CRACK IS ALSO AFFECTING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG.
UPON DRIVING THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING EXTREME NOISE AND MAJOR LOSS OF POWER. MULTIPLE ENGINE LIGHTS CAME ON AND BACKFIRE THROUGH EXHAUST. CONTACTED CHEVY DEALER AND DROPPED OFF FOR DIAGNOSIS. PROBLEM WAS ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT LIFTER FAILURE. (PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THIS ISSUE IS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND SOCIAL MEDIA) THIS PROBLEM IS HAPPENING TO A HIGH VOLUME OF SILVERADO TRUCK MANUFACTURED AFTER 2007 WITH AFM. CHEVROLET HAS BULLETINS ON THE ISSUE BUT WILL NOT RECALL TO REPLACE ALL AFM LIFTERS. THEY ONLY REPLACE THE LIFTERS THAT FAIL. THIS CAUSES ISSUES LATER WHEN ADDITIONAL LIFTERS FAIL. IF ALL AAFM LIFTERS (8) WOULD BE REPLACED AT THE SAME TIME CONSUMERS WOULDN'T BE COMPLAINING VIA SOCIAL MEDIA AND INTERNET. CHEVROLET ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM BUT REFUSES TO RECALL. REASON FOR REFUSAL IS IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN AROUND 50,000 MILES AND ABOVE AND AFTER THE REPAIR THEY HOPE THAT THE ISSUE HAPPENS AFTER THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY WHEN REPAIRS ARE PAID FOR BY CONSUMERS COSTING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I PERSONALLY HAVE READ OF THIS HAPPENING AND HAD IT HAPPEN JUST RECENTLY. GM REFUSES TO BACK THEIR PRODUCT ALTHOUGH THEY RECOGNIZE THE PROBLEM. BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED BUT I WAS TOLD THAT THE NHTSA MAKES THE CALL AFTER ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ARE FILED BY CONSUMERS. PEOPLE JUST DON'T KNOW THIS AND I AM REQUESTING YOU URGENTLY LOOK INTO THIS ISSUE. CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE CAN RESULT COSTING CONSUMERS A LOT OF MONEY. WE ARE JUST THE LITTLE GUY UP AGAINST A LARGE AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURER. WE NEED YOUR ASSISTANCE IN FORCING GM TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THESE VEHICLES WITH THE ACTIVE FUEL MANAGEMENT. OUR HANDS ARE TIED BECAUSE OF THIS. WE REQUEST THAT IF THERE IS A AFM LIFTER FAILURE THAT ALL LIFTERS BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF THE ONES THAT FAILED. VEHICLE STABILITRACK AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS CAME ON. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE VEHICLE ONTO A HIGHWAY ACCELERATION RAMP, THE CAR STEERING WHEEL LOCKED AND THE ENGINE DIED. COULD NOT UNLOCK THE POWER STEERING. I WAS TOWING A HORSE TRAILER WELL WITHIN THE GROSS WEIGHT FOR THE VEHICLE. I HAD A HORSE IN THE TRAILER AT THE TIME. I ALSO HAD CHILDREN IN THE CAR. AFTER A FEW MINUTES, I WAS ABLE TO START THE VEHICLE AND PULL INTO A SAFER AREA. I WAS NOT ABLE TO TOW THE TRAILER HOME BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VEHICLE HOME. THE CAR HESITATED AND CHUGGED ALONG SURGING INTO EACH GEAR. WHILE AT A STOP THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND THE ENGINE SPUTTERED. I HAD TO PUT THE TRUCK IN NEUTRAL AND PUT MY FOOT ON THE ACCELERATOR SO THE CAR ENGINE WOULD NOT DIE. THE TRANSMISSION WOULD SURGE EACH TIME I STEPPED ON THE GAS. LIMITED TURNING RADIUS ON THE VEHICLE AND I WAS NOT ABLE TO MAKE A SHARP TURN WITHOUT A GRINDING NOISE. *TR

I HAVE A 2007 XLT SUBURBAN THAT AFTER HAVING A CRACK DEVELOP OVER THE PASSENGER AIR BAG NOW SHOWS THAT THE AIR BAG IS DEFECTIVE. *TR
DEFECT IN MY 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO AS REPORTED BY GM IN A LETTER RECENTLY RECEIVED. RECALL INITIATED IN CANADA, WHY HAS NHTSA NOT ISSUED ONE IN US. GM STATES MY 2007 TRUCK IS DEFECTIVE AND THE "INTERFACE BETWEEN THE ELECTRICAL TERMINALS ON THE RELAY RESISTOR MODULE AND THE WIRING CONNECTOR THAT POWERS THE MODULE MAY BE INCAPABLE OF CONDUCTING HIGHER CURRENT LEVELS FOR SUSTAINED PERIODS OF THE BLOWER MOTOR OPERATION.... THUS CAN CAUSE OVERHEATING WHICH WILL CAUSE THE BLOWER MOTOR NOT TO OPERATE AND CAN BE ACCOMPANIED BY A BURNING SMELL OR SMOKE." BASICALLY MY CAR CAN CATCH FIRE. *TR

SILVERADO 2007 TRUCK CRACKS JUST KEEP APPEARING IN DASH IN AIRBAG SECTION FOR NO REASON. TRUCK IS PARKED IN GARAGE 80 PERCENT OF TIME. IF CRACKS KEEP APPEARING, WHAT IS GOING TO KEEP AIRBAG FROM COMING OUT OF DASH FOR NO REASON? THIS TRUCK IS 6 YEARS OLD WITH 62,000 MILES ON IT VERY CLEAN AND THE DASH LOOKS AWFUL. HAVE CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY SAY NO RECALLS, PLEASE TELL ME WHY? *TR
FUEL TANK INDICATOR FAULTY....AT HALF FULL IT REPORTS EMPTY.. THEN LIGHT COMES ON ..DING DING SOUNDS. 22 GALLON TANK THEN ONLY TAKES ABOUT 10 GALLONS OF GAS. QUOTE FROM DEALER... $100.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE AND $700.00 ESTIMATE TO REPAIR ....NOT GOOD.. ONLY 53,953 MILES ON THIS VEHICLE. PURCHASED USED IN 2010. USING THE TRIP MILEAGE INDICATOR TO PLAN FUEL STOPS. HELP. *TT
GM HAS A DESIGN AND/OR MANUFACTURING FLAW IN THE TRANSMISSION LINES ON THE 2500HD. I HAVE HAD MINE REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY ONCE, AND NEED TO HAVE THEM REPLACED AGAIN. THEY ONLY LEAK IN COLD WEATHER WHEN THE RUBBER IN THE LINE SHRINKS AT THE CRIMP CAUSING THEM TO LEAK. THE DANGER HERE IS THE FIRE POTENTIAL. DUE TO THE DIESEL REGENERATION PROCESS THAT BURNS OFF THE DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER AND THE HEATS IT TO EXTREME TEMPERATURES THIS HAS A POTENTIAL FIRE RISK. GM REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE LEAKY TRANSMISSION LINES. THERE ARE MULTIPLE ACCOUNTS OF THIS ISSUE, ON SEVERAL YEAR MODELS OF DURMAX PICKUPS, ON THE INTERNET. ADDITIONAL CONCERNS HERE ARE HOW ACIDIC TRANSMISSION OIL IS. IT ALSO HAS POTENTIAL TO DETERIORATE RUBBER STEERING COMPONENTS BOOTS BALL JOINT COVERS, ETC. THIS IS SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
EXCESSIVE OIL CONSUMPTION - TRUCK RUNS OUT OF OIL EVERY 2500 MILES. CHANGE IT REGULARLY. NO LEAKS OR BLUE SMOKE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET K1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ABS WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE ABS WIRE SO THAT THE WARNING LIGHT WOULD NO LONGER ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
I PURCHASED THE 2007 CHEVROLET TRAILBLAZER THINKING I WOULD HAVE A GOOD DEPENDABLE CAR, NOT SO. THE STABIL-I TRAC CHECK LIGHT COMES ON AND THEN WHEN THE CAT IS RESTARTED IT GOES OFF. THE GAS GAUGE HAS DROPPED TO EMPTY AND WILL NO LONGER INDICATE FUEL IN TANK, THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL NOTICE ON THIS , HOWEVER GM IS ONLY PAYING FOR 50% OF THE COST OF REPAIR. I HAD AND ACCIDENT ($ 2400.00) DUE TO THIS GAS GAUGE FAILURE, NO ONE HURT BUT COULD HAVE BEEN DISASTROUS. GM WAS NOTIFIED AND A CLAIM FILED AND THE RESULTS WERE THEY WERE NOT AT FAULT. NOW THE LOWBEAM LIGHTING SYSTEM ON THE VEHICLE HAS GONE OUT. I HAVE HAD THE FUSES, SENSOR, AND THE BULBS CHECKED AND NO ONE CAN FIND THE PROBLEM. I HAVE MARKED POWER TRAIN AND ELECTRICAL SINCE BOTH ARE INVOLVED. I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM WORK WHEN MY TRUCK MESSAGE CENTER INDICATED (REDUCED ENGINE POWER) . THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN MY VEHICLE IS IMPEDED FROM ACCELERATING AND SLOWING DOWN TO NO MORE THEN 20 - 25 MILES PER HOUR. SINCE I COULD OF INTERFERED WITH THE TRAFFIC AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT OR BODILY INJURY TO OTHERS. A RECALL SHOULD BE MADE SINCE I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF OTHER VEHICLES HAVE THE SAME SCENARIO. *TR
ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ACTIVATES WHEN NOT NEEDED DURING LOW SPEED (<10 MPH) STOPPING. THIS SUDDENLY INCREASES STOPPING DISTANCES IN LOW SPEED BRAKING SITUATIONS. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM DESCRIBED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 05V37900 ISSUED FOR 1999-2002 CHEVROLET SILVERADOS FOR WHICH A RECALL WAS ISSUED ON 8/30/2005. *TR

2007 CHEVY SILVERADO EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS SNAPPING. THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS ON GM 4.8, 5.3, 6.0 V8'S ARE JUNK AND DEFECTIVE. THEY CORRODE AND SNAP EASILY AND PREMATURELY. MY TRUCK IS A 2007 WITH 84000 MILES WITH AN EXHAUST LEAK CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE BOLTS. BOLTS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER GM POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. *TR
ON MY SILVERADO WITH JUST UNDER 39,000 THE LEFT WHEEL BEARING HAD TO BE REPLACED ON 8/9/11. ON 10/6/11 THE RIGHT SIDE HAD TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY WILL NOT LOOK INTO ANY COMPLAINTS ON THE FAILURE OF THESE WHEEL BEARINGS WITH SUCH LITTLE MILEAGE. BOTH TIMES MY TRUCK HAD TO BE TOWED. SMELLED SOMETHING BURNING BUT COULDN'T FIND WHERE IT WAS COMING FROM UNTIL RECENTLY WHEN MY A/C BLOWER MOTOR STOPPED WORKING. FOUND THE BLOWER RESISTOR CONNECTOR HAD MELTED AND 3 OF THE 7 WIRES THE HARNESS HAD BURNT FOR APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR FIRE HAZARD. *TR
THE A/C FAN QUIT. IT SMELLED LIKE BURNING PLASTIC. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY SAFELY AND I HAVE ENOUGH ELECTRICAL KNOWLEDGE I WAS ABLE TO DETERMINE A WAY TO CONTINUE SAFELY. IT WAS A FIRE HAZARD WAITING TO HAPPEN INSIDE THE CAB. THE RESISTOR WAS EXTREMELY HOT AND THE WIRING HARNESS WAS MELTED. THERE WERE NO BLOWN FUSES. I PULLED FUSES TO REDUCE THE CHANCE OF FIRE. I HAVE PREVIOUSLY ATTEMPTED TO DEAL WITH THE CHEVROLET DEALER NEAREST DFW, TX AIRPORT AND GM OVER MY BAD ENGINE BLOCK (ALSO REPORTED ON THIS FORUM) AND ........ SO I AM OUT THE MONEY FOR THIS FIRE HAZARD TOO. THIS IS THE LAST GM PRODUCT I WILL EVER OWN. *TR
2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CLASSIC 1500; REDUCED ENGINE POWER COMES ON AND ENGINE SLOWS WAY DOWN NO MATTER WHERE YOU ARE. ALMOST WAS IN BIG WRECK ON INTERSTATE. EVIDENTLY GM DOESNT WANT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. HAVE READ MANY REPORTS ON INTERNET ABOUT THIS ERROR MESSAGE AND GM'S INABILITY TO FIX IT OR EVEN CLAIM TO FIX IT. THIS IS A VERY BAD SAFETY ISSUE AND SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET KILLED. GM HAS ALREADY SHOWN, BY MANY REPORTS, THAT THEY DO NOT INTEND TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ENGINE PROBLEM. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH HE BEGAN TO SMELL THE ODOR OF BURNING PLASTIC AND THE FAN STOPPED FUNCTIONING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE FAN RESISTER MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE WIRING HARNESS, WHICH WAS CONNECTED TO THE MODULE, WAS ALSO MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V441000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATELY FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
DASHBOARD CRACKS IN THREE DIFFERENT LOCATIONS. AS KNOWN BY MANY OTHER OWNERS IN THE SAME LOCATIONS. I AM AFRAID IF INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS WOULD CAUSE DASHBOARD TO COME APART FLYING INTO THE CABIN CAUSING BODILY INJURY TO PASSENGERS.
AIR CONDITIONING JUST QUITS. CHECK FUSES OKAY. TOOK TRUCK TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY CHARGED $656.27 TO FIX A SHORT IN THE BLOWER RESISTOR RESULTING IN CONNECTOR MELTING AND BLOWER FAILURE. NEWER TRUCK AND ASKED DEALERSHIP IF UNDER WARRANTY OR IF RECALL, INFORMED ME THERE WAS NOT. GOT ON INTERNET AT HOME AND FOUND SEVERAL RECALLS ON 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO'S AND INFORMED DEALERSHIP THROUGH EMAILS, ABOUT RECALLS AND THAT IS WHEN I LEARNT OUR TRUCK WAS MANUFACTURED IN CANADA. CALLED DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE TRUCK IN TEXAS TO INFORM THEM OF RECALLS AND THEY SAID IT DID NOT APPLY TO OUR TRUCK BECAUSE IT WAS KILOMETERS AND WE HAVE MILEAGE, DO I SOUND LIKE I AM BUBBA? RECALLS ARE FROM TRANSPORT CANADA AND NUMBERS ARE 2011074-EXACT PROBLEM OUR TRUCK IS HAVING; AND 2009291 DEALS WITH AIRBAGS(WHICH I HAVE NOT EVEN ATTEMPTED TO ADDRESS BECAUSE OF THE RUN AROUND I HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED. CANADIAN TRUCKS SHOULD NOT BE SOLD IN AMERICA IF RECALLS ARE NOT GOING TO BE HONORED. FIRE POSSIBILITY AND AIRBAG DEPLOYING ARE VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES. SUBSTANDARD MATERIAL AND INSTALLATION METHODS DIRECTLY RESULTED IN DEFECTS IN THE DASH BOARD AND ASSOCIATED SUB ASSEMBLIES. THE MENTIONED HAS BEEN RECORDED WITHIN 4 YEARS OF MANUFACTURE DATE AND HAS PROGRESSED TO ITS CURRENT STATE WITH LARGE HOLES DEVELOPING WITH MAJOR CRACKING AND TO THE EXTENT CAUSING SUB ASSEMBLIES SUCH AS THE STEERING COLUMN COVER AND UPPER GLOVE BOX TO DISINTEGRATED AND FALL OFF OF ITS MOUNTING LOCATIONS. THE CONCERN IS THAT UPON DEPLOYMENT OF AIRBAGS, PLASTIC SHARDS CAN BECOME SUB SONIC PROJECTILES CAUSING SEVER INJURY, EVEN DEATH .

NUMEROUS CRACKS HAVE APPEARED IN THE DASHBOARD OF MY 2007 SILVERADO. TWO OF THEM ARE AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WHICH COULD BECOME PROJECTILES UPON THE INFLATION OF THE AIRBAG. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT IN THE DASHBOARDS AND AFFECTS THOUSANDS OF GM VEHICLES. *TR
