THE CAB TO OPERATOR COMMUNICATION STARTED SLOWLY DIMINISHING. EVENTUALLY ALL AUDIBLE BEEPS, DINGS AND MUSIC ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CAB WERE SHUTOFF. THE SPEED CONTROL CRUISE WAS NOT ACTIVATION, BUT THE BUTTON WOULD LIGHT UP. CURRENTLY THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUCK, IN THE CAB, IS OUT OF POWER. I AM CONCERNED, DOES THIS AFFECT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM TOO? THE TRUCK DOES A SELF DIAGNOSTICS MONTHLY AND NO ISSUES WERE NOTED, BUT THEY WERE OBVIOUS ISSUES THAT A DIAGNOSTIC SHOULD HAVE PICKED UP A NOTABLE CHANGE. THE LIGHTING ISSUE I EXPERIENCED WERE WITH EACH TAILLIGHT. I WOULD RANDOMLY BLOW TAIL LIGHT BULBS. A CLOSER LOOK SHOWED CORROSION AND OBVIOUS SHORTING, BUT NO FUSE WAS FAULTED. BULB WAS BURNED AT THE CONNECTORS. FURTHER REVIEW IT WAS NOTICED THAT EACH TAIL LIGHT HAD WATER IN THE BOTTOM. TRAVELING CAUSED THE WATER TO SHORT OUT AND DAMAGE THE BULB, LEAVING ME WITH NO REAR LIGHTING RANDOMLY. I HAVE SINCE DRILLED HOLES IN THE BOTTOM OF EACH TAIL LIGHT AS THERE IS NOT WAY TO REMOVE THE MOISTURE. I HAVE ALSO INSPECTED THE BULB SEALS AND FIND THEY ARE FIRMLY PRESSING ON TO THE SEALING SURFACES, WHICH ARE CLEAN AND FREE FROM ROAD DUST AND GRIME...PLUS THEY ARE HIDDEN INSIDE THE BODY OF THE TRUCK. IN SUMMARY, I WOULD LIKE TO RECEIVE SOME LEVEL OF DETAIL REGARDING THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE, FOCUSING ON HOW IT CAN BE REPAIRED. REGARDING THE LIGHTING, THIS IS CONCERNING AND SHOULD BE A CONSIDERATION FOR RISK ASSESSMENT DURING DESIGN. *JS
LOSS OF POWER DOOR LOCKS GOING UP AND DOWN SPEEDOMETER AND TACHOMETER GOING UP AND DOWN ALL DASH LIGHTS BLINKING. *TR
2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500, AIRBAG SENSOR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON WITH OUT ACCIDENT OR INCIDENT. WE CALLED GM AND THEY TOLD US TO TAKE IT TO A DEALER. WE TOOK TO THE DEALER WE BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM NEW. THEY RAN DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND IT CAME BACK EVAPORATIVE EMISSION SENSOR AND INFLATABLE RESTRAINT FRONT SENSOR WERE BAD. AS A SAFETY/EMISSIONS PROBLEM IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THEY GAVE US A $600 BILL IN WHICH WE MADE THEM CALL THE GM REPRESENTATIVE. THEY THEN HAD US PAY $250. 2 1/2 YEARS LATER AND AIRBAG SENSOR LIGHT IS BACK ON WITHOUT ACCIDENT. THIS SEEMS TO BE A BIG COMPLAINT WITH THIS YEAR TRUCK. IT SEEMS THAT IF THE SENSOR IS NOT WORKING AND MY FAMILY WERE TO BE IN AN ACCIDENT MY AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY AND WE COULD BE HURT OR KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE AIR BAG SENSORS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A TREE. NEITHER THE DRIVER NOR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND THE CONTACT SUSTAINED HEAD AND BACK INJURIES. THE CONTACT DID CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 66,000. UPDATED 02/15/12*LJ UPDATED 02/24/12
DRIVING 59 MPH WITH CRUISE CONTROL ON. ACCELERATED HARD TO PASS A TRUCK. ACCELERATOR STUCK OPEN AND COULD NOT STOP IT. HAD TO HIT BRAKES THREE TIMES, EACH TIME INCREASINGLY HARDER, UNTIL ACCELERATION STOPPED AND TRUCK STARTED TO SLOW. HAD ACCELERATED TO OVER 80 MPH. *TR

MY 1500 SERIES TRUCK HAS CHIRPING NOISE COMING FROM ENGINE. CURRENTLY HAS 80K MILES AND NOISE IS NOT COMING FROM PULLEY OR BELTS AS OUR MECHANIC HAS REPLACED THEM AND NOISE STILL SOUNDS. NOISE IS COMING FROM ENGINE. TAKING VEHICLE TO DEALER. THIS NOISE IS ANNOYING! *KB
POWER DOOR LOCKS ON MY 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO CREW CAB QUIT WORKING ON BOTH DRIVERS SIDE DOORS. I ONLY HAVE 25,000 MILES ON THE TRUCK AND HAVE NOT RETURNED IT BACK TO THE DEALER YET AS THE PROBLEM JUST STARTED THIS WEEKEND. I HAVE CHECKED THE WEB AND OF COURSE THIS IS A VERY COMMON OCCURANCE THAT CHEVY HAS TENDED TO SWEEP UNDER THE RUG AND HAD NOT MADE A RECALL FOR THIS. THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVIENCE AND IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD AS WELL. I HAVE MY FINGERS CROSSED THAT THE DEALER WILL FIX THIS PROBLEM BUT I HAVE MY DOUBTS. MY 3 YEAR BUMPER TO BUMPER WARRANTY RAN OUT IN AUGUST. I PURCHASED A NEW TRUCK TO AVOID THESE TYPES OF AGGRAVATIONS AND NOW REGRETING THAT DECISION. *TR
MY DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING WITH MY REMOTE AND DOOR LOCKS ON THE DRIVERS DOOR .THE TWO BACK DOORS LOCK BUT NOT THE FRONT. I DON'T LIKE HAVING TO LOCK THE DOORS MANUALLY. IS THE ANY HELP OUT THE RE FROM GM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS MALFUNCTIONED AND AS A RESULT, THE DOORS FAILED TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN CONFIRMED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.
THE DRIVER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKE OFF CAUSING AN EXHAUST LEAK. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE CAUSING EXHAUST GAS TO ENTER THE CABIN! EXHAUST BOLTS SHOULD NOT BREAK OFF. *TR
BRAKE FLUID FLOWING OUT OF PIN HOLE IN ABS EHCU SYSTEM LOCATED ON THE LEFT FRAME RAIL UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. EVERY TIME YOU PUSH BRAKE PEDAL LOSING ALL BRAKE FLUID. *KB
MY DASH HAS SEVERAL CRACKS IN IT AROUND THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. I AM CONCERNED THAT IF THE AIR BAG IS DEPLOYED THAT THE DEFECTED DASH WILL BECOME SHARP PROJECTILES AND CAUSE UNDUE INJURY TO ME OR MY PASSENGER. I HAVE SEEN MANY OTHERS WITH SAME PROBLEM AND IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. *TR
BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE BRAND NEW IN 2008, HAD PROBLEM WITH PASSENGER WINDOW NOT OPERATING, DEALERSHIP CHANGED OUT ACTUATOR. SINCE 2011 THE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK WILL NOT ENGAGE WITH FOB OR WITH THE MECHANISM ON THE DOOR NOR WILL IT ENGAGE WHEN VEHICLE IS PUT IN GEAR. AFTER READING THIS WEB PAGE, IT SEEMS TO ME THAT THIS DOOR LOCKING SYSTEM SHOULD BE RECALLED AND BE REPAIRED AT NO COST TO THE CUSTOMER. *JS
MY DASH STARTING CRACKING AT 30K MILES. I ASSUME IT WAS JUST MY LUCK. I LOOKED UP REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX MY DASH, AND I STUMBLED UPON THOUSANDS OF GM VEHICLES WITH THE SAME ISSUE... GM CHARGED US GOOD MONEY FOR OUR VEHICLES. I BOUGHT FOR BEING A SAFE VEHICLE. DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK WHEN ALARMING OR UNALARMING TRUCK. IT OCCURS DAILY AND NOT SURE HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. I HAPPENED TO GET OUT OF MY TRUCK AND OPEN THE BACK DOOR WHICH WOULD NOT OPEN. WITH FURTHER INVESTIGATION, I REALIZED THAT THE LOCK WAS NOT WORKING PROPERLY. I WONDER HOW MANY OTHER OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE HAVE NO IDEA THAT THIS IS HAPPENING? I HAVE ALARMED MY VEHICLE, THEN CHECKED THE BACK DOOR TO SEE IF IT LOCKED WITH THE ALARM GOING OFF, BECAUSE THE LOCK HAD FAILED! I WONDER HOW MANY PEOPLE ACTUALLY CHECK TO SEE IF THEIR TRUCK LOCKED AND ALARMED PROPERLY. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND IT'LL COST $100 FOR THEM TO JUST LOOK AT IT BECAUSE IT IS PAST THE 3 YR. WARRANTY. I THINK THIS IS UNFAIR. *TR
INTERMITTENTLY, AND NOW MORE FREQUENT 1, 2 OR ALL GAUGES GO HAYWIRE, READING OTHER THAN NORMAL, AND DIGITAL READOUT GOES OUT. TRUCK STILL WORKS OK, BUT NO ACCURATE READING ON GAUGES. *TR
CRACKED DASH AROUND MY AIRBAG. VERY SEVERELY CRACKED.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCK HAS FAILED. IT WOULD APPEAR TO BE THE LOCK ACTUATOR THIS IS NOT ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 CHEVY TRUCK. ONLY 35000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE DEALER REPLACED THE ACTUATOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 80,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

ALSO, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE EMITTED EXTREME AMOUNT OF SMOKE TROUGH THE EXHAUST EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. THE MANUFACTURER OR DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. DRIVERS SIDE POWER LOCK WONT ELECTRICALLY LOCK WITH THE DOOR SWITCH OR KEY FOB. SEE COUNTLESS COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. SOMETIMES LOCK ACTUATES ONLY HALFWAY, AND WHEN ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND PLACED IN PARK OR PLACED IN PARK WITH ENGINE STILL RUNNING CANNOT OPEN DOOR WITHOUT MANUALLY ACTUATING IT. *KB

THIS WAS A SPORADIC PROBLEM OVER THE LAST THREE MONTHS AND HAS JUST STARTED TO FAIL COMPLETELY. THIS IS NOT ONLY AN INCONVENIENCE, THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD SINCE THE DOOR DOES NOT LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE IS BEING DRIVEN. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE 2008 CHEVY TRUCK.ONLY 33,500 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. *TR
SAFETY RECALL 10153. THE SOLUTIONS OFFERED BY GM IS INADEQUATE. THEY WANT TO DISCONNECT THE WASHER HEATER AND COMPENSATE WITH $100. 1. $100 DOLLARS DOES NOT ADEQUATELY REFLECT THE VALUE OF THIS HEATED WASHER OPTION AND ITS LOSS OR THE DEVALUATION OF MY VEHICLE IF THE FEATURE IS DISABLED. 2. THE HEATED WASHER FLUID OPTION IS A VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FEATURE 3. THE HEATED WASHER FLUID SYSTEM SHOULD BE REPAIRED, NOT DISCONNECTED. I WANT TO KNOW WHY GM IS NOT REPLACING THE MODULES WITH A EQUIPMENT THAT RESOLVES THE PROBLEM.
AUTOMATIC LOCKING DOOR ACTUATOR FAILURE ON DRIVERS SIDE REAR DOOR AND PASSENGER SIDE FRONT DOOR. DEALER REFUSES TO REPLACE BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUTSIDE OF MANUFACTURER WARRANTY. OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE A 4 DOOR 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 AND MY THIRD POWER DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR HAS FAILED WITHIN 1 YEAR. I HAVE 24000 MILES ON VEHICLE. A GOOGLE SEARCH INDICATES THIS IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DOOR LOCKS DO NOT LOCK THE DOORS WHEN IN DRIVE. PASSENGERS CAN OPEN THE DOOR WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION. THERE IS NO DOUBT IN MY MIND THAT THIS IS A PART DEFECT AND SHOULD BE LISTED AS A SAFETY RECALL. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT IF YOU CAN LOOK INTO THIS MATTER IMMEDIATELY. THANK YOU! *TR
WHEN STOPPED AT A LIGHT OR SIGN, WHEN YOU RELEASED THE BRAKES IT FEELS LIKE SOMEONE HIT THE REAR BUMPER. THIS IS CAUSE BY THE YORK AT THE REAR OF THE TRANSMISSION IS STICKING. GM DEALERSHIP WILL SAND AND LUBE THE LUBE. THIS COVERS UP THE PROBLEM FOR A COUPLE OF MONTHS. IF YOU WANT THE PROBLEM FIX IT WILL COST YOU ABOUT $350.00. THE YOKE IS NOT COVER BY THE DRIVETRAIN WARRANTY. EVEN THOUGH THE YOKE IS THE WRONG ONE,BECAUSE THEY WILL REPLACE IT WITH A NICKEL PLATED YORK AND THEN THE PROBLEM IS SOLVE. THE YORK IS THE PART THAT COMES OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION AND HOOKS TO THE DRIVESHAFT. IF THE YOKE GRABS AND BREAKS THE REAR OF THE TRANNY, THE DRIVESHAFT WILL DROP OUT AND HIT THE GROUND. AT HIGH SPEED THIS COULD CAUSE A FATAL ACCIDENT. *TR
MY DASH HAS CRACKS NEAR THE AIRBAG AND I HAVE A CONCERN WITH SAFETY DURING A COLLISION OR AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT FROM SHARP PLASTIC EXPOSED DUE TO THE CRACKS IN THE DASH CUTTING THE AIRBAG OR SHARDS OF PLASTIC BECOMING PROJECTILES POTENTIALLY CAUSING INJURY TO OCCUPANTS. *TR
DRIVER AND REAR PASSENGER LOCKS DO NOT WORK. THIS IS THE 2ND TIME NOW THAT THESE DONT WORK. FIRST IT WAS THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE, NOW ITS THE SAME SIDE BUT REAR DOOR. IT IS ANNOYING NOT HAVING ACCES TO THE DOORS VIA KEYLESS ENTRY. IT WAS A ONE OF THE REASON WHY I BOUGHT A KEYLESS ENTRY FOR SAFETY REASON FOR WOMEN. ALSO, I HAVE A GRANDSON WHO RIDES WITH ME OCCASIONALLY, AND IF EMERGENCY OCCURRED, I FEAR HE COULD BE TRAPPED AS I WOULD HAVE TO INSERT KEY TO UNLOCK DRIVER DOOR OR WORSE. THE REAR DOOR HAS NO WAY TO INSERT ANY KEY INTO DOOR. HOW DO YOU EXPECT ME TO SAVE MY CHILD IF I CAN'T EVEN OPEN IT. I HAVE TO LOWER MY DRIVER SIDE SEAT BACK AND REACH FAR BACK TO WHERE LOCKS WERE PLACED AND MANUALLY UNLOCK THE BACK DOOR. RECALL ALL TRUCKS BACK AND REPLACE LOCKS IN THEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE WITH SAFETY AND CHILDREN SAFETY!!!! THIS WOULD MAKE 3 LOCKS. ONE WHEN NEW PURCHASE VEHICLE, 2 REPLACED BY DEALER AND NOW 3RD ITS BROKEN AGAIN!!!! *KB
THE FRONT SPEAKERS AND ONE OF THE EXTENDED CAB DOORS SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK.CAN NOT HEAR THE WARNING CHIME. SOMETIMES WHEN THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE THE SPEAKERS IN THE DRIVER'S SIDE STARTS TO WORK. AS OF 07/11/14 THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR SPEAKERS DOESN'T WORK UNLESS THE TRUCK HAS BEEN DRIVEN FOR AWHILE.. I'VE CONTACTED GM SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS ISSUE AND GET THE SAME RESPONSE, THEY CAN NOT HELP ME WITHOUT PAYING THEM A FEE.... I TELL THEM WHAT IS HAPPENING AND THEY DON'T CARE. I SENT AN EMAIL TO THEM ON 07/12/14 AND HAVEN'T HEARD FROM THEM YET. I AFRAID THAT THE TRUCK IS GOING CATCH ON FIRE OR SHUT OFF WHILE I'M DRIVING OR WHEN MY WIFE IS DRIVING WITH MY KIDS IN THE TRUCK. *TR

THE FAILURE WAS RECURRING OVER A THREE YEAR SPAN. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE MODEL WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAGS DEPLOYED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER SENT AN INVESTIGATOR TO INSPECT THE DEPLOYMENT AND DETERMINED THAT THE STM MODULE WAS CORRODED AND PROVIDED AN INCORRECT SIGNAL TO THE AIR BAGS WHICH CAUSED THE DEPLOYMENT. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL RELATED TO THE AIR BAGS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 39,000. UPDATED 5/9/11 *CN UPDATED 05/19/11
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE ONE OF THE TIRES, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE JACK DID NOT FIT WHERE THE INSTRUCTION MANUAL INDICATED IT WAS TO FIT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PIECE OF METAL ON THE JACK AS SUGGESTED BY THE OWNERS MANUAL, WAS TOO LARGE FOR THE PLACEMENT LOCATION ON THE FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED FOR THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 13,000.

The frame has been rusting out bad for many years. My gas tank is about to fall off it is hanging down do to cross member rusting out, and shocks too. Also body is rusting bad do to not putting the right rust inhibitors in the paint and frame.

I DRIVE A 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO CREW CAB AND THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE BRAKES WORE COMPLETELY TO THE METAL DUE TO THE NEGLIGENCE OF THE DEALERSHIP. I SPOKE WITH THE OWNER AND THEY ARE INCURRING SOME OF THE COST, BUT AFTER THEY INSPECTED THE VEHICLE THE BACK BRAKES ARE ALSO WORN. THE TRUCK HAS 39,700 MILES AND ALL THE BRAKES ARE BEING REPLACED, FRONT AND BACK. I HAVE ALWAYS COMPLAINED TO THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT MY BRAKES NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THEY ALWAYS CAME UP WITH SOME SORT OF EXPLANATION TO JUSTIFY THE NOISE. THE POWER LOCKS INSIDE THE VEHICLE WORK INTERMITTENTLY AND SEEM TO RANDOMLY UNLOCK ONE OF MY DOORS. THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCK WHEN YOU PUT THE CAR IN GEAR DOES NOT WORK. POWER DOOR LOCKS FAILED, SOMEONE CAN OPEN THE DOOR WHEN THE TRUCK IS BEING DRIVEN AND FALL OUT OF THE TRUCK, THE LOCKS ARE SUPPOSE TO ENGAGE WHEN THE TRUCK IS PUT INTO DRIVE.
THOUGH MY ANTI-LOCK BRAKES MAY BE WORKING JUST AS THEY WERE DESIGNED, THEY SEEM TO INCREASE STOPPING DISTANCE SIGNIFICANTLY OVER WHAT WOULD BE ATTAINED WITH JUST THE WHEELS LOCKING UP AND SLIDING OR SKIDDING. ON DRY PAVEMENT, STOPPING POWER OF THIS TRUCK IS FANTASTIC UP TO THE POINT WHEN THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE, THEN ITS AS IF THE BRAKES ALMOST COMPLETELY RELEASE THE WHEEL THEN REACTIVATE THE BRAKE TO THE POINT IT STARTS TO SKID THEN RELEASES IT COMPLETELY AND SO ON AND SO ON. THIS ACTION OF COURSE HAPPENS VERY QUICKLY, BUT SEEMS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN ANY OTHER ANTI LOCK VEHICLE I'VE EVER OWNED. BECAUSE OF THIS CYCLE OF COMPLETELY RELEASING THE BRAKES THEN HITTING THEM SO HARD THEY INSTANTLY LOCK UP THEN RELEASING THEM AGAIN, THE STOPPING DISTANCE SEEMS GREATLY EXAGGERATED. ON A REDUCED TRACTION SITUATION SUCH AS SNOW, ICE, OR DIRT, ITS AS IF THE BRAKES DON'T WORK AT ALL. AS I STATED IN THE OPENING STATEMENT, THIS TRUCK HAS WONDERFUL BRAKES UP TO AND UNTIL THE POINT OF THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES, SO WHEN THIS OCCURS IT IS QUITE SHOCKING. AS FOR MY BRAKING TECHNIQUE, I'VE BEEN TOLD AND HAVE FOLLOWED THE ADVICE THAT ONCE THAT ANTI-LOCK BRAKES ACTIVATE, YOU KEEP FIRM STEADY PRESSURE ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. I'VE TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF THE RECENT ICE AND SNOW IN OUR AREA TO TEST AND CONFIRM THAT I AM USING PROPER TECHNIQUE IN USING THE BRAKES AND I'M MORE CONVINCED THAT THIS SYSTEM IS CAUSING MORE PROBLEMS THAN IT SOLVES. I WOULD RATHER HAVE STANDARD BRAKES THAN THIS. I BELIEVE IT WOULD BE IN THE PUBLIC INTEREST IF THIS SYSTEM WERE CHECKED BY SOMEONE WITH THE ABILITY TO CONFIRM THAT THESE BRAKES MEET THE SAFETY STANDARD EXPECTED BY SAFETY REGULATORS OVER SEEING THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT TAKING THIS VEHICLE TO MY LOCAL SERVICE DEPARTMENT IS GOING TO SOLVE ANYTHING, IN THAT I EXPECT THEY ARE GOING TO TELL ME THAT THEY ARE WORKING FINE.
