THE DASH ON MY 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAS CRACKED NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG ACROSS TO THE DRIVER'S SIDE. ONE CRACK ACTUALLY MET ANOTHER LARGER CRACK AND A PIECE OF THE DASH HAS FALLEN OFF LEAVING A HOLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH WHEN HE LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO A LIGHT POLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE CONTACT WAS REPORTED INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 47,000.
THE FRONT RADIO SPEAKERS DO NOT WORK MOST OF THE TIME. BECAUSE OF THIS THE WARNING CHIMES CANNOT BE HEARD. *TR
HAVE LOST OPERABLE OF PASSENGER REAR DOOR LOCK, AND THE OTHER THREE DOORS ON MY CREW CAB SILVERADO HAVE BEGUN TO HAVE THE ISSUES OF NOT LOCKING/UNLOCKING WHEN SET BY SYSTEM OR ON DEMAND BY PERSON DRIVING THE TRUCK. THIS DOESN'T ALLOW FOR THE DOORS TO LOCK/UNLOCK AFTER VEHICLE IS MOVED TO AND FROM THE PARKED POSITION. THIS COULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. *TR
APPROXIMATELY 2000-4000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY TERM (BUT STILL WELL UNDER THE 36 MONTH LIMIT) I BEGAN TO NOTICE MY POWER LOCKS WEREN'T WORKING CORRECTLY. WHEN I TOOK MY TRUCK IN TO THE DEALER, THE SERVICE REP TOLD ME THAT THAT WAS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. AFTER DETERMINING I WAS OVER WARRANTY MILEAGE LIMIT, HE SAID ALL HE COULD DO IS MAYBE "HELP ME OUT" ON THE REPAIR COSTS. MY MAIN CONCERN IS HOW THE MANUFACTURER HASN'T BEEN MORE PROACTIVE IN CORRECTING THIS PROBLEM SINCE, FROM WHAT MY RESEARCH HAS REVEALED, IT IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE. I WOULD THINK THAT CHEVROLET WOULD BE A LITTLE MORE CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY AND SECURITY OF THEIR CUSTOMERS AND VEHICLES. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH DOWNHILL AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE WOULD VIBRATE. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE AND THAT HIS BRAKES COULD POSSIBLE HAVE BEEN HEATING UP AND CAUSING THE VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 29,400.
I HAVE A 2008 SILVERADO 1500. LOCKS AND LATCHES DOES NOT WORK ON THE BACK DRIVER SIDE OF MY TRUCK. WHEN INQUIRED ABOUT IT TO THE DEALER IT WAS SAID I NEEDED SOME TYPE OF MOTOR. I GOT IT FIXED WHICH COST ME $200. AND TWO WEEKS LATER THE PASSENGER SEAT STARTED GIVING ME THE EXACT SAME PROBLEMS. TO LOCK THE DOOR I HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK IT. MY REMOTE WORKS FOR THE OTHER THREE DOORS BUT NOT THE PASSENGER DOOR. ANYONE CAN OPEN MY TRUCK. I HAVE RESEARCHED SEVERAL COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS MATTER I HAVE 45,000 MILES ON MY TRUCK. *TR
2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. DOOR LOCKS CYCLING, A/C NOT WORKING INTERMITTENT, ALT GAUGE FLUCTUATING, FUEL GAUGE FLUCTUATING, ENGINE STALL, ABS & TCS LIGHTS BLINKING. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO MY DEALER AND THE KEPT IT FOR A WEEK. THEY ENDED UP REPLACING THE 175 AMP MEGAFUSE AND BATTERY CABLES. I GOT BACK AND HAVE DRIVEN IT FOR A WEEK AND EVERYTHING SEEMS TO BE WORKING PROPERLY EXCEPT THE ALT GAUGE. I INTEND ON CALLING THEM BACK NEXT WEEK SO I CAN DRIVE IT A LITTLE LONGER TO SEE IF ANY OF THE OTHER ISSUES PERSIST.
PASSING A VEHICLE ON COUNTY BLACK TOP ROAD,ACCELERATED TO INITIATE PASSING GEAR. ACCELERATOR STUCK ENG RPM AT FULL SPEED. ATTEMPTED TO ALLEVIATE TO NO AVAIL. ATTEMPTED TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL BUT WENT INTO REVERSE ALSO APPLIED BRAKES. AS A RESULT THERE WERE 420 FT. OF SKID MARKS THEN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL HIT SHOULDER OF ROAD AND VEHICLE WENT END OVER END LANDING IN DITCH ON ITS TOP. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY AND THERE I WAS NO RECORDED INCIDENCE ON THE DATA RECORDER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE CO. MY CONCERN IS THAT THIS VEHICLE COULD BE REBUILT AND PUT BACK ON THE ROAD AS DRIVABLE VEHICLE SINCE IT HAD ONLY 13,000 MILES ON IT. IF NO CAUSE FOR THE MALFUNCTION CAN BE DETERMINED THERE IS A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY THIS COULD HAPPEN AGAIN WITH POSSIBLE LOSS OF LIFE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TRAVELING 40 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE AND POWER TRAIN WARING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AS THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT A MESSAGE STATING THAT THE ENGINE POWER REDUCED HAD ALSO APPEARED BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER, WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY POSITION SENSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY WAS CLEANED AND THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED ABOUT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS WERE SUPPOSED TO LOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN DRIVE, AS WELL AS UNLOCK WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK. THE CONTACT STATED THE AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NO LONGER FUNCTION PROPERLY, AND WOULD NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK WHEN SHIFTED INTO DRIVE OR BACK INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE DOOR ACTUATORS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER HAD STRONG SULFUR SMELL AFTER THE FIRST YEAR. I COMPLAINED TO CHEVY DEALER AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS NO PROBLEM. BY YEAR THREE I COMPLAINED FOR THE THIRD TIME AGAIN WAS TOLD NO PROBLEM THE COMPUTER DIDN'T SHOW A CODE. I ASKED THE MECHANIC TO TAKE IT FOR A DRIVE HE RETURNED SAYING THE CAT WAS JUNK IT WAS REPLACED AND I WAS TOLD ONLY TO RUN TOP TIER GAS I DID THAT BUT AFTER ABOUT 8 MONTHS IT SMELLED AGAIN MY TRUCK IS JUST FIVE YEARS OLD AND I NEED ANOTHER CONVERTER, MY POWER LOCKS HAVE EACH BEEN REPLACED THREE TIMES IN SECOND AND THIRD YEAR. NOW I NEED NEW AIRBAG SENSOR AND MY TRUCK HAS NEVER BEEN HIT . *TR
THE RIGHT REAR DOOR ACTUATOR WENT OUT NOT ALLOWING THE DOOR TO LOCK OR UNLOCK, OTHER THAN MANUALLY. NOT ONLY IS THIS A THEFT ISSUE, BUT A SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL. KIDS WERE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING WHICH IS AN APPARENT SAFETY PROBLEM AND AFTER READING NUMEROUS OTHER REPORTS OF THIS SAME PROBLEM OCCURRING, IT IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE TAKEN CARE OF/RECALLED. THIS IS APPARENTLY DUE TO A CHEAP MOTOR MADE OUT OF CHINA AND IS A FAIRLY EASY ISSUE TO RESOLVE. *TR
DOOR LOCK ON DRIVERS SIDE WILL NOT LOCK OR UNLOCK. WHEN PRESSING THE REMOTE FOB TO LOCK/UNLOCK THE TRUCK IT TRIES TO MOVE BUT WILL NOT FULLY GO UP OR DOWN ALL THE WAY. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN USING THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON FROM THE INSIDE OF THE TRUCK. I HAVE BEEN LOCKING MY TRUCK AND WALKING AWAY WITH A FALSE SENSE OF SECURITY. YOU CAN WALK UP AND OPEN MY DOOR DUE TO THIS DEFECT. THE ALARM WILL SOUND BUT ENTRY HAS ALREADY BEEN MADE TO THE VEHICLE. EVEN WORSE WHAT IF YOU NEEDED TO LOCK THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE TO AVOID SOMEONE TRYING TO GAIN ACCESS TO YOU THROUGH YOUR VEHICLE. YOU WOULD HAVE TO REMEMBER TO HIT THE LOCK KNOB ITSELF BECAUSE THE LOCK/UNLOCK BUTTON DOES NOT WORK. THIS IS BAD BECAUSE GM KNOWS THEY HAVE CHRONIC PROBLEM WITH THIS. JUST GO TO THE INTERNET AND TYPE IN "2008 SILVERADO DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR" AND SEE WHAT COMES UP. IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT A COMPANY WILL NOT STAND BEHIND ITS PRODUCT. NOW THAT THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OWNS MOST OF GM IT WILL GET WORSE. THIS WILL BE THE LAST GM PRODUCT THAT I EVER PURCHASE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH WHILE PULLING A TRAILER, THE BRAKES FAILED WHEN THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE VEHICLE FINALLY STOPPED AFTER DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE SERVICE BRAKE CONTROLLER WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE FAILURE RECURRED EVERY YEAR AND WAS REPAIRED. ON 2/3/16, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,880. UPDATED 04/07/16*LJ CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE CONTROLLER WARNING LIGHT ON DASH COMES ON STATING TO HAVE CONTROLLER SERVICED. CONSUMER HAS NO BRAKES TO THE RV BRAKES, THIS PROBLEM IS THE 7TH TIME. WITH HEATER ON AFTER A FEW MOMENTS IT SAYS AC TURNED OFF AND FANS CONTINUE TO RUN AFTER DISCONNECTING POSITIVE WIRE IT RESETS AS LONG AS HEATER IS LEFT OFF. *TR
THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE SIDEWALL PEELED APART ON CHEVY 2008 SILVERADO WITH AMERITRAC TIRES 245/70R17 WITH ONLY 10,000 MILES ON VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE TIRE TO THE DEALER, SINCE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN UNDER WARRANTY THEY CLAIMED IT WAS DUE TO A PUNCTURE IN THE TIRE. THEY ALSO SAID IT WAS FROM A PIECE OF SCREW DRIVER THAT WAS PLANET IN THE VEHICLE. THE PIECE OF SCREW DRIVER WASN'T THERE UNTIL THE CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, SO NOT ONLY DIDN'T THEY FIX THE CAR THEY DAMAGED IT. *TR
FORTY-FIVE DAYS AFTER PURCHASING A USED 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO 1500 4X4, THE 'SERVICE ABS AND STABILITRAK' WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED ON THE DRIVERS INFORMATIONAL SCREEN. FOLLOWING THE MANUFACTURES RECOMMENDATION TO RE-SET THE COMPONENTS DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUES. WARNING LIGHTS APPEARED EVERY TIME THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED. VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO DEALER WHERE THE RIGHT-REAR WHEEL SENSOR WAS FOUND TO BE WET, CORRODED AND BROKEN. DEALER SERVICE ADVISOR (AND) TECHNICIAN STATED THEY 'HAVE SEEN THIS ON MANY OTHER [SAME MAKE AND MODEL] TRUCKS.' DAMAGED SENSOR REPLACED AT MY EXPENSE AND OLD SENSOR RETAINED BY DEALER. *TR
RAILROAD HYRAIL VEHICLE EQUIPPED, AFTER MARKET, WITH HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES WHICH ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE ON RAILROAD TRACKS. ONCE HYRAIL (FLANGED) WHEELS ARE RETRACTED, THE VEHICLE IS OPERATED OVER THE HIGHWAYS AND PUBLIC ROADS LIKE ANY OTHER VEHICLE. ON 7/23/2010, AT 20TH ST. AND US 34 IN WARREN COUNTY, IL., RAILROAD EMPLOYEE WAS OPERATING A HYRAIL-EQUIPPED VEHICLE ON PUBLIC ROADWAY WHEN IT WAS STRUCK FROM BEHIND AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED WHILE STOPPED IN TRAFFIC TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. STRIKING VEHICLE WAS TOWING A TRAILER AND BOTH VEHICLES LEFT THE ROADWAY AND STRUCK A FENCE. AIRBAGS IN THE HYRAIL-EQUIPPED VEHICLE DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS MADE. CONCERN IS THAT THE INSTALLATION OF HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES MIGHT BE IMPACTING THE AIRBAG SENSOR. THE HYRAIL WHEEL ASSEMBLIES EXTEND APPROX. ONE FOOT OF STEEL FRAMEWORK AHEAD OF THE FRONT AND REAR BUMPERS. THE PLACEMENT OF THESE ASSEMBLIES MIGHT INADVERTENTLY BE AFFECTING AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT IN CRASHES ON THE RAILROAD TRACK AND ON PUBLIC ROADS. *TR
I WAS DRIVING AT A SPEED OF APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN A DRIVER, WHO WAS CITED FOR FAILING TO YIELD TO THE RIGHT OF WAY, ENTERED THE ROADWAY FROM MY LEFT. THE INITIAL IMPACT WAS MY TRUCK'S FRONT TO THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE THAT ENTERED THE ROADWAY. AFTER BOTH VEHICLES SEPARATED, MY VEHICLE CONTINUED AND STRUCK A MEDIAN GUARDRAIL HEAD-ON (ANOTHER FRONTAL IMPACT) BEFORE COMING TO REST. MY SEATBELT DID NOT LOCK AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE HIGHWAY PATROL INVESTIGATED THE ACTIVE COLLISION SCENE. FOUR DAYS LATER, AN INDEPENDENT COLLISION RECONSTRUCTION EXPERT THAT I HIRED INSPECTED MY VEHICLE AT MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP. THE INSPECTION REVEALED THAT: I WAS IN FACT GOING 45MPH, MY SEATBELT WAS BUCKLED, MY SEATBELT PRETENSIONER DID NOT ACTIVATE, AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. GM HAS ALSO BEEN CONTACTED BY ME, AND THEY ARE CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE ISSUE. *TR
THE AUTO DOOR LOCK STOPPED WORKING FOR A SECOND TIME. WHEN YOU PRESS THE LOCK BUTTON, THE DOOR LOCK DO NOT RESPOND. THIS COULD CAUSE PEOPLE TO BECOME TRAPPED IN THE TRUCK, OR A CRIMINAL COULD EASILY OPEN THE DOOR TO CARJACK THE DRIVER. *TR

THE CONTACT CALLED SERVICE CHEVROLET LAFAYETTE (1212 AMBASSADOR CAFFERY PKWY, LAFAYETTE, LA 70506, PHONE NUMBER: (337) 234-9411) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS NO OPEN RECALL. THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO COURTESY CHEVROLET CADILLAC BROUSSARD (1345 EVANGELINE THRUWAY, BROUSSARD, LA 70518, PHONE NUMBER: (337) 347-8984) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THEY COULD REPLACE THE DASHBOARD IF HE PURCHASED ANOTHER VEHICLE ON THE LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE DOES NOT OPERATE ON THE AUTOMATED SYSTEM. THE DOOR LOCK FAILED TO OPEN AUTOMATICALLY WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PARK POSITION. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE REMOTE ENTRY DOES NOT WORK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAVE NOT HAD ENOUGH COMPLAINTS TO ISSUE A RECALL. THE DEALER ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE COULD REPAIRED AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE OWNER WAS CONCERNED THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH AND THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN, TRAPPING THE OCCUPANTS INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 51,000. UPDATED 10/05/10. *LJ
CRUISE CONTROL WORKED INTERMITTENTLY. HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKE SWITCH ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS SWITCH DOES NOT ACTIVATE ON "LIGHT" BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE. IT IS DESIGNED TO WORK ON FIRM BRAKE PEDAL PRESSURE, WHICH CAN BE HAZARDOUS WHEN USING ELECTRIC TRAILER BRAKES. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE ASSOCIATED WITH THE NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V441000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT WAS IN DISAGREEMENT WITH THE RECALL DEFECT REMEDY REPAIR WHICH CONSISTED OF DISABLING THE HEATED WASHER SYSTEM. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED AND DESIGNED WITH A HEATED WASHER SYSTEM WHICH SHOULD BE REPLACED INSTEAD OF COMPLETELY DISABLING AND REMOVING SOME OF IT'S COMPONENTS. NO FAILURES HAVE OCCURRED AT THIS TIME; HOWEVER, THERE WAS CONCERN OF THE SAFETY RISK INVOLVED.
PASSENGER SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR FAILED. THE PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT HAVE A OUTSIDE KEY LOCK TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. SHORTLY THERE AFTER THE DRIVER'S SIDE ACTUATOR FAILED. THEY BOTH FAILED PREMATURELY. I HAVE READ THERE ARE A GREAT NUMBER OF FAILURES BUT GM HAS NOTHING IN PLACE TO REPLACE THEM UNDER A RECALL.
THE ENTIRE FRAME HAS RUSTED OUT ON THE TRUCK WE JUST HAD TO GET RID OF IT DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO GET INSPECTION STICKER ON THE VEHICLE,GM HOLDS NO ACCOUNTABILITY FOR THIS AND THERE IS PLENTY OF COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE THE SAME ISSUE
THERE IS A CRACK IN MY DASHBOARD COMING OUT OF THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG. I BELIEVE THIS COULD BE DANGEROUS IF IT EVER DEPLOYS. *TR

HE STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR OVER $800.00 AND HE DOESN'T THINK THAT THE $100 REFUND THAT GM OFFERED TO OWNERS OF HIS YEAR, MAKE AND MODEL VEHICLE WAS FAIR COMPENSATION. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING OVER SEVERAL MONTHS, IT IS AS FOLLOWS: THE DOOR LOCKS ACTIVATE TO THE ON POSITION THEN RELOCK. FOLLOWING THAT, ALL ELECTRONICS SHUT OFF, THE VEHICLE LURCHES, THEN EVERYTHING COMES BACK ON AND YOU CONTINUE ON THE WAY. IT IS ESPECIALLY DANGEROUS AT NIGHT BECAUSE ALL LIGHTING GOES OFF AND YOU ARE LEFT IN THE DARKNESS WHILE DRIVING AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN INTO THE CHEVROLET DEALER AN SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO FIND THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER'S SERVICE MANAGER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE AND AGREED PROVIDE ME A VEHICLE, HOWEVER THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. I HAVE HAD TO PURCHASE ANOTHER VEHICLE TO DRIVE AT NIGHT FOR FEAR OF INJURING MYSELF OR SOMEONE ELSE DURING ONE OF THE EPISODES. THE VEHICLE IS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO CREW CAB WITH 4 YEARS REMAINING ON THE WARRANTY. THE EPISODES OCCUR WITHOUT WARNING AND AT DIFFERENT FREQUENCIES, IT MAY HAPPEN THREE OR FOUR WITHIN AN HOUR OR GO FOR A DAY OR TWO WITHOUT HAPPENING. EACH TIME IT IS A SURPRISE ESPECIALLY IF YOU ARE TRAVELING 70 MILES AN HOUR AND AT NIGHT. *TR
DRIVING AROUND CURVE ON RESIDENTIAL STREET IN MY 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO I CAME UPON AN ILLEGALLY PARKED CAR. I ATTEMPTED TO STEER AWAY FROM CAR WHEN STEERING LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT AVOID HITTING CAR THEN CURB THEN GARAGE. STEERING MADE A STRANGE CLICKING NOISE DURING MY ATTEMPT TO AVOID THE CAR. I HAD THE POWER STEERING PUMP REPAIRED IN FEBRUARY 2010 AT DEALERSHIP WHERE WE HAD PURCHASED OUR TRUCK FOR THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS ARE DEFECTIVE ON THIS YEAR MODEL TRUCK. I HAD THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK REPLACED WHILE THE TRUCK WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND AT THAT TIME THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER DUE TO THE LARGE AMOUNT OF FAILURE. AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED THE OTHER THREE ELECTRIC DOOR LOCKS HAVE STOPPED WORKING. I HAVE CHECKED MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVE NOT FOUND A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM.
SEAT BELT LOCKS UP WHEN DRIVING ON SMOOTH ROADS. DOES NOT ALLOW DRIVER TO LEAN FORWARD TO LOOK IN BLIND SPOT OF DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW. HAPPENS ON SLIGHTLY BUMPY ROADS AND ON SMOOTH ROADS WHEN MAKING TURNS OR LANE CHANGES. HAPPENS EVERY DAY AND CAN BE REPRODUCED AT ANY TIME. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 CHEVROLET SILVERADO 1500. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE DOOR CANNOT BE OPENED FROM THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED ANY REPAIRS WOULD BE AT THE OWNERS EXPENSE. THE FACTORY WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
THREE OF THE FOUR LOCKS ON MY 2008 CHEVY SILVERADO NO LONGER WORK WHEN USING THE REMOTE. THEY QUIT WORKING RIGHT AFTER THE 36,000 MILE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. THE DEALER TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $700 TO HAVE THEM REPLACED. I CONTACTED CHEVY DIRECTLY AND THEY TOLD ME THEY HAVE NOT HAD ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THEY WANTED ME TO PAY FOR A DIAGNOSIS FROM A CHEVY DEALER SO THEY COULD EVALUATE THE PROBLEM. IT IS VERY INCONVENIENT, AND FRUSTRATING, TO HAVE PAID FOR AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS AND THEY QUIT WORKING TWO YEARS AFTER I HAVE THE VEHICLE. YOU HAVE TO MANUALLY LOCK/UNLOCK EACH DOOR WHEN IT SHOULD BE AS SIMPLE AS PUSHING A BUTTON. IT IS ALSO A SAFETY ISSUE THE LOCKS DON'T WORK WHILE THE TRUCK IS BEING DRIVEN. NOW, THE REAR WINDOWS DON'T OPERATE FROM THE CONTROLS ON THE REAR DOORS. I CAN'T BELIEVE, THAT WITH ALL THE COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE READ REGARDING THE SAME ISSUE, CHEVY WON'T STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT AND FIX THEIR MALFUNCTION. FRONT DASHBOARD HAS A CRACK IN IT. CRACK ON PLASTIC DASH JUST APPEARED OVERNIGHT FOR NO REASON. IT IS LOCATED ALMOST DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF THE PASSENGER AREA. HAVE CHECKED SEVERAL OTHER VEHICLES WITHIN THE SAME YEAR MODEL,2- GMC SIERRA PICK UPS, 1- AVALANCHE, 2 SILVERADOS. DASH MAKES A RATTLING SOUND AND IS VERY DISTRACTING. ALL HAVE THE SAME OPEN CRACK ALMOST EXACTLY AT THE SAME SPOT ON DASHBOARD. I KNOW THERE IS A DEFECT. *TR

WHILE AT DEALERSHIP PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED SMASHING WINDSHIELD. GM HIRED INDEPENDENT TO INVESTIGATE,DETERMINED IT WAS DEFECT IN TRUCK AND AUTHORIZED REPAIR. TRUCK STILL NOT FIXED AS OF TODAY. GM UNABLE TO ATTAIN HARNESSES AT THIS TIME FOR DASH AIRBAG. WINDSHIELD ON ORDER. GM REFUSES TO GIVE US COPY OF RESOLUTION STATING ITS PROPERTY OF GM AND NOT FOR PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE. *TR

WENT TO DEALERSHIP AND EXPLAINED THAT I HAD THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH MY 2000 CHEVY SILVERADO WHICH COST ME ABOUT $2,000 TO HAVE IT REPAIR THE DEALERSHIP ("LEAHMAN BROTHERS" IN CONCORD CA) THEY DROVE THE TRUCK FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES AND SAID THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE WHAT IT WAS DOING. AND WOULDN'T GO ANY FURTHER WITH THE INVESTIGATION. *TR

THE DEALER DID NOT SAY WHY THE LOCKS FAILED, BUT OFFERED TO REPAIR THE LOCKS AND PAY FOR THE PARTS IF THE CONTACT PAID FOR THE LABOR. THE CONTACT FEELS THE LOCKS SHOULD NOT FAIL ON A VEHICLE THAT WAS TWO YEARS OLD. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54000.
